OrangeT-mobile roaming on October 5th. iphone 4

Bearing in mind lots of people having trouble with Orange 3G display and connection, will it be a good idea to sign up for the new Orange/T-Mobile roaming option set to launch on October 5th.?I have been with TM since January with an iphone 3G and now iphone 4. Having had 18months of poor connection from 02, it is a pleasure to be able to make/receive a call from my sitting room, without having to hold my phone by the window or run upstairs to get a signal.I dont want to experience a similar problem like some people who are on Orange. Hey folks ! Well i m having an issue regarding voice memos . My iphone(3G) was synced to an old laptop that i lost . I have about 110 voice memos that i need to transfer , but each time i connect my iphone to my PC it tells me that its been synced to another library and only gives me the option to erase and sync , which means that i would lose all of my memos . Hi,I am in Nigeria. I bought my iphone from London and had it unlocked here in Nigeria. The problem is that i can't do anything that needs internet on my phone. I use a network called GLO and i even took the phone to their office to see if it could be configured to access the net. The steps they took was: Settings - general - network -then dead end! The complaint was that the cellular data options are only oFF/ON while in a 3G u have additional options like APN, USERNAME, PASWWORD etc fro the Cellular data option. HELP PLEASE!!!

PassCode Auto Lock Problems iphone 4

voicemail password issue iphone 3G

My phone shows a message Enter voicemail password with option to cancel regardless of what app the phone is running. I hit cancel, message goes away. The message randomly pops back up again randomly. Ive noticed the message pops back up when the phone crashes during running application, listening to music etc or even just pushing the home button. There has never been a password on my visual voicemail before. How do I get the message to stop popping up. I looked under settings for a Turn off password and still randomly appears again. Its so annoying and I am ready to break this stupid phone with a hammer. I called the tech support and was request to pay for tech support since its out of warranty. Thanks iphone 3g 4.02 Windows XP

Help Cloning Old iphone 3g to new iPhone4 issue

A friend has given me her new iphone 4 and asked if I can sync her old iphones content over to the new handset. (contacts, apps,music, etc)However, she has already tried herself and so the iphone4 is already recognised by itunes. How I add an Address Book Server account to iphone 3G iOS 3.1.3

Heya, I have an iphone 3G that is running version 3.1.3 of the iphone OS and I need to add an Address Book Server account (that is being run on Snow Leopard Server to the phone but the only option I have is LDAP. My understanding is that Address Book Server uses CardDAV not LDAP. So I went ahead and added the account by choosing Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account... ->Other -> Contacts - Add LDAP Account and entered my servers information. After selecting Next it prompts me with the following message:Cannot Connect Using SSL - Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?I choose Continue -> the message disappears and I choose Save -> then Im prompted with this message:This account may not be able to search contacts. Are you sure you want to save?I choose Save and it appears to add it. To verify I exit Settings and go to Address Book and none of my contacts appear. I even let it sit for an hour on a WiFi connection without any luck. Pictures no longer displaying in Email iphone 4

3 days ago, pictures in email were working great, no problems in any of the 3 email accounts I have loaded (Yahoo, .me, and Google apps Premier through exchange). Now in any account, any email, the pictures are replaced with a question mark. regardless of the account. Pictures that used to be displayed now show a question mark and any new picture does as well. Even when a new picture comes in, say a 2mb picture, it gives me the option to download the whole 2mb file, and it downloads something and then the question mark is displayed. I just got my iPhone4 but unfortunately, I didnt see this until I got home. I was proudly showing my new phone to my GF and suddenly I noticed why is the date (on the homescreen) in Chinese. For example: September 3, 2010...but in ChineseAnd besides the English keyboard, there was an option to switch to a Chinese keyboard.I came back to the retailer today, they explained because the phone was made in China so that was preset.Is this standard? Netflix App Issue iphone 3G

So, I downloaded the new Netflix App, and have been watches movies, shows, etc with it, and it has been fine. However, since yesterday, the app just doesnt seem to work. No matter what movie or show I try to load, it plays for 3-7 seconds, freezes, and returns back to the movie selection screen. It does this, no matter where I am at, no matter if I am on 3G, or ANY WiFi network. Ive done resets on the phone, re-installed the app, backed up the phone, and reinstalled everything, virtually every possible option, and still will not work. Any suggestions? 3G iOS 4

iOS cant handle forwarded emails iphone

Ive just run headlong into a major email problem after setting up an associates email client to automatically forward selected email addresses to her during a three week trip carrying only an iPad and iphone for email access.The only available option for the automatic forwarding is to forward the email as an attachmentThe problem is that the iPads GMail client simply presents the attached emails as cannot open attachments. This is not only the GMail client, but the problem is there for other as well, so, the email client appears to be common except for the setups.These attachments do have a filename extension... it is .eml (which is a long existing and standard extension for email attachments)imho, this needs immediate attention.The only (apparent) current options are to manually forward the emails inline or to use a webmail interface... if it happens to be GMail, there are additional problems. Im not very technical-minded and Ive tried to research this on the internet, but there are a load of terms I dont understand, and Im hoping a kind person on here could explain something to me in laymans terms..My boyfriend has an iphone 4, and a hotmail account. Hes had this email account from the very beginning, and refuses to get rid of it, but it doesnt work beautifully with the phone like my macmail does, and he has to go into his emails to find out if theres a new one, and also if he deletes an email on his phone, it doesnt delete on his hotmail account on the computer. I have read something about gmail letting you forward messages from a hotmail account, does anyone know about this? I just wanted to post this topic as Im curious if the Apple monster will even read this or address them. I hope I get surprised. Apple makes, hands down, the most high quality of devices, but they tend to have it there way more than ours. I guess thats what makes them Apple. Without further ado, here is my list of bugs Ive noticed and I hope youll add to it. I would just love to see Apple address these:1. Performance issues with Podcasts and multiple-tasking. Youll hear stuttering on occasion, sometimes often while playing a podcast or even music. Ive noticed this at random and also at times when the phone locks or when switching out of the iPod.2. I just noticed this one: if you take the time to write on this exact site, you will find yourself getting lost, as sometimes the text goes on, and the screen doesnt follow it. Suprising that even on the iPhones home site, it cant perform the way it ought to. Youll also notice that below here, its asking me what hardware Im using and what OS. It should be clear what hardware Im on and even what OS Im running. Brilliant, considering this is Apple.com, I selected the iphone 4 section, and the browser can report the os version. Oh wow, I just lost my text again and had to press the expanding icon on the bottom right of this pane. Also, sometimes i lose my text permanently where I should be able to scroll down to find it but there arent scroll bars... The attention to detail of the aesthetics of the phone cant be matched on the outside, but again, leave a lot to be desired on the inside.3. Echo for the remote callers own voice when my phone is plugged into a stereo through the headphone jack. Even when my volume is so low, I cant hear it.4. While heavily texting, if I exit out to the home screen after/during the send of the text, my phone will freeze for a good 60-120 seconds. If I press too many buttons, trying to get it to respond, it will reboot itself instead of coming back to life. Again this only happens (very seldom) when Im sending texts to multiple random people and I abruptly go home while a message is being sent (or maybe received?).5. While playing music, the quality will often drop drastically when entering a game or application that has sounds. This has only happened in two places so far. While talking on the phone, if I go to play music on the iPod to hear in my headphones, and when entering Bejeweled 2 Blitz with the in-game music off and the sounds on, while iPod music is being played. I do not believe this is Bejeweled at fault. Try it, make a call and try and play some background music in your headphones. The quality drops to a very unacceptable level.Thats actually all I can think of for now! Please fix these issues Apple and I will gain a good bit of respect, knowing you heard and acknowledged this. Hi,I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable people could help me. I have an iphone4, and my daughter has a Mac with a web cam at college. She is able to video chat on her computer, and does so with friends computers, but when I try to Skype her (I downloaded the Skype app on my phone) her mac and my phone dont offer the option to video with each other. Is there a fee that has to be paid for me to be able to do this, or am I doing something wrong? (I can face time with my husband on our iphone4s so I know the video button works) If I cant video with her, Skype is a waste to have, because I can just call her to talk to her on the phone. My MBP doesnt recognize my iPhone3

Its been about 19 applications since I last synced my iPhone3 with my MBP (OS 10.4.11) and now the MBP doesnt recognize the phone at all. Doesnt even see it as connected. I have no software updates available when I check and I have no idea what to do. I wanted to upgrade my iphone version from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3, hopefully that is still possible. Dialing from address book entries with area codes iphone

All entries in the address book have phones with the area code prepended. Just the area code, not including the 0 before the area code to identify it.When the iphone dials a number this way, ZXNXXXXXXX (asterisk format), the carrier replies an error message informing the number is wrong. Both TIM and Claro do that. If an 0 is dialed before the Z, then the call goes through. Moving from OS 3.1.2 to OS 3.1.3 on 3G iphone while iOS 4 out

Hello iphone 3G Community,I have an iphone 3G with the older OS 3.1.2 firmware. Im beginning to download new Apps, like Netflix for iphone and the ESPN Fantasy Football Draft Kit which require OS 3.1.3.Apple seems to be only offering iOS 4 now, but Im not interested in upgrading the 3G to iOS 4. How can I go to OS 3.1.2? If I had a 3GS, or iPhone4 Id be more comfortable making the switch iOS 4, but I rather not with my 3G.What are my options? Will my 3G become a brick because I missed the boat on upgrading to OS 3.1.3? I am currently using a PC and have my iphone 3GS synced to that unit.I decided to upgrade my PC to a MacBook Pro two days ago and have received my new iphone 4 today.My question is – how am I able to get my current iphone 3GS back up that is on my PC on to my new MacBook pro so that I can sync my music/contacts/notes/messages etc to my new iphone 4?I have avoided syncing my current iphone 3GS to the new MacBook as I knew I would be receiving my iphone 4 this week.Please help – Losing my iphone data is not an option as I have extremely important contacts/text messages that I need to keep for legal reasons. Issue with pressing down on Home Button iphone 4

I have had my iphone 4 since launch day abd have had no issues with it. Runs great, but I went ahead and got the free bumper just in case and sure enough after getting it and putting it on, I was at a concert and had it knocked out of my hand. Causing it to hit tue cement pretty hard =/Since then, my home button doesnt work quite as well. Phone itself is in perfect condition still, just the button has the be pressed many time for it to actually work. I was wondering what could be done about this. Take it to the apple store perhaps? I didnt get the extended warranty, but Im not sure if this would be covered. Also my warranty might be void since my phone two days later took a dive in water. 3 days in a bowl of rice and the phone works tine. But that little water strip, wherever it is would kill the warranty option.Just wanted to see what my options were. Its most likely something knocked out of place or mabe a loose connection now. But its starting to get annoying, haveong to press the button many times to get it to work.Thank you for any info and advice.

To delete particular number in iphone 4 Recent Calls Log

In iphone 4, it is possible to delete or keep a particular message in your Messages list. This function does not appear to be possible when it comes to delete a particular phone number in your Recent calls list. The only given option is to delete all recent calls. Even if you go in the Info page of a particular caller, it does not give you an option to delete that number. It is very normal and rather desirable to keep some important numbers in your recent calls list for future reference and delete the numbers you dont want. This deletion process for the individual numbers in your Recent List would help to remove the clutter of unnecessary calls & therefore extra burden on the phone resources. My iphone 4 was stolen today while out at the pool and out of sight for literally 10 minutes. There are no iphones anywhere at any of the att or apple stores here so am forced to order a new one and wait the 5-10 days. Luckily my dad still has his old 3G from when he upgraded to the 4. Question is, how do I get it to work? I restored his old phone and it gave me the option to choose my phone to backup on it, which I did. My photos and contacts are there and everything but it says no service...is there something else I am supposed to be doing?? iphone 4 keeps trying to tether

Anyone else having issues with the phone constantly (yet, intermittently) trying to tether? I keep seeing the spinning wheel in the General>Network settings next to the button that you normally would press to Enable tethering. I cant help but feel this is a software issue. It seems to be affecting battery life, to the extent that I had the phone with me all day and managed to bring the battery to 65% between 7am and 5:30 pm despite only 2 minutes of calls, 20 minutes with apps that I would expect could drain a battery, no facetime, 3 photos taken, 10 minutes viewing photos, and approximately 5MB of data use (mainly e-mail and a few manual facebook updates). Also, I had the 3G turned off most of the day. Doesnt seem like stellar results to me given my light usage.Any shared experiences? MacBook C2D 2GHz (White), Titanium G4 1GHz, iBook Rev. Im having trouble ignoring ANY calls. it doesnt give me an option of ignoring numbers I dont know and even numbers that I do know. Album artwork takes up WAY too much space iphone 4

It took me a long time to figure out the culprit, but I finally concluded that iTunes is syncing very high quality album art to my iphone 4, resulting in the exact same music library taking up almost 3GB more than on my 3GS. Heres how I know this: when I click on my iphone in iTunes, the capacity bar says Audio is taking up 12.52GB, but when I go to look at the music on my iphone, it says I only have 9.38GB of music. I do not have any podcasts, movies, audiobooks, apps, or anything - literally all thats on my phone is music files. To test my hypothesis, I jailbroke my phone to get access to the file system and looked in the folder it stores the artwork in, and lo and behold, the folder on my iphone 4 is 3.2GB big, and the one on my 3GS is only 500MB.My question is this: is there any way to force iTunes to sync lower quality album artwork; or, failing that, is there any source I can get lower quality (say, 300x300 pixel) album artwork from?And if anyone on the iTunes development team happens to read this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add an option in the next version of iTunes to convert album art to lower quality before syncing, like the recent option to convert music to 128 kbps. iphone 4 16GB iOS 4

iphone 3G with iOS 4.2

So I installed iOS 4.2 to my iphone 3G and the battery has been draining unusually fast(even with 4.1), so I usually keep it in Airplane mode, Ive been trying to find a fix and so far Ive found nothing...my problem is unique though, because I dont use it as a phone I only use it as an Ipod (so no service), I have no use for it as a phone because I already have one. I have no idea what else to do. I think it might be internet tethering, the wheel just keeps spinning and I assume thats it. Theres nothing for it to connect to since it isnt being used as a phone, its always on my Wi-fi network at home. Any help would be appreciated. iOS 4 Windows

Ringtones not syncing with iphone

Hi, I posted this on another thread that might be closed.My ringtones show up in the Itunes computer folder, and they show up under Ringtones in Itunes, and theyre less than 30 seconds long, but when I go to Sounds/Ringtones on the phone they do not show up. tethering Trouble iphone 3G

Earlier today, I enabled tethering on my iphone 3G, and had it set up to take effect today. However, when I go to Settings > General > Network it still tells me that I have to enable it rather than letting me connect. Ive tried entering/disabling Airplane Mode, and turning the phone off/on (and even tried turning the phone off while it was in Airplane) to no avail. Im stumped, help? Hi, a couple nights ago I updated to ios 4.0.2.I have 2 3g iPhones and after the update one was working. The other lost the wifi completely. Hi All need a bit of advice on this :Synced my iphone (4) with i tunes,downloaded the pics from roll to my imac for editing, when i try to get them back in my phone + other pice they sync but when i go to photos(on my phone) there is nothing in roll and nothing in album.I want to add the pics to a contact but cant get the photos back into the phone.It worked great from roll and i could just use the option of add as contact pic. thanks 27ins Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Word of warning, the latest update has wiped my entire phone, and the restore option hasnt restored anything. No e-mail, no numbers, no photos, no apps, no videos...Apple has really messed up this time, not what one expects from a premium product. tried to sync iphone4 to itunes on my comp not working now crashed HELP

Just got my new iphone 4. First thing i tried to do after inserting sim card is to connect it to my computer and itunes. Tells me i cant connect to this computer. then there was an option to restore settings and start over. So i do that, it says it can not complete until i restore the phone sttings and now the phone has crashed. The screen has a pic of the apple icon with a waiting bar. iphone 4 quasi-recognised but not where it counts

My problem has become the bane of my life in the past week. Ill give you the whole story in detail first and explain the problem at the bottom for those of you who just want to read on in case its a simple and obvious fix Im clearly overlooking...I bought my iphone 4 the day it came out on O2 (UK). Ive had my Macbook since August 2007 and it was running OS X 10.4. I was also given a SIM card that I could put in my old phone and copy the contacts across and snap down into a Micro-SIM to put into my iphone 4. Upon coming home, I found out I couldnt sync it to my Macbook because I needed a more recent version of OS X, so I decided to set it up on my mums laptop (essentially unused and brand new laptop, because she doesnt know the first thing about computer and I still have no idea why she bought it in the first place... It is running Windows 7). The iphone started up okay and I synced a few songs Id hastily downloaded and the next day I went away for Spain for a month where I took loads of pictures, lovingly stored on my iphone.On my return from Spain, I wanted to back up my iphone and get some new music (as Id grown incredibly sick of the 30-odd songs Id taken away with me to sunbathe with) and save my pictures in case anything went wrong. I also wanted a fix so that I could get my iphone to sync to my Macbook (as Im going back to University and away from mums laptop in about 3 weeks)... I managed uploaded my pictures onto facebook and my mums computer, so theyre safe (thank God!) I went to the Apple Store after reading online, and realised I had to buy the Snow Leopard Family Pack (or whatever its called, the expensive one with iLife and iWork included) and updated my Macbook yesterday, along with the other extras.I was finally ready for my iphone to get all of my music from my iTunes that Id build up over the last few years and was eagerly waiting everything to be good in the world. I plugged my iphone in and immediately iPhoto comes up and offers to import all of my pictures. After this I wonder why iTunes hasnt come up and do it manually. The iphone is not there as an option, nor is it on the desktop (as was normal with my old iPods...) I followed instructions I found online, and proceeded to Reset All Settings, restart the iphone, iTunes, try different USB ports, completely remove every lingering file of iTunes and reinstall it, make sure everything was up to date and from all of this Ive had no luck!I plugged my iphone back into my mums laptop and restored it to factory settings. It was finally back to how it was in the beginning and I took it out and shoved it into the Macbook. This time, NOTHING. I plug it back into my mums laptop and sync it again to make sure all is okay (dont worry I had a list saved of all my apps because for some reason I thought this was the most important thing) and realised all my contacts had been deleted. This wouldnt be a problem if I hadnt leant my old phone to my brother for his trip around Europe whilst I was in Spain and it was stolen from him...SO... To conclude, after getting over the shock that I no longer have any important contacts from my year abroad in Denmark, nor my friends back here in the UK (who Ill see anyway so its not as important), and the annoyance that Ill have to create one of those annoying Facebook groups I hate asking for contact details and giving my number out to the world... I STILL cant sync my iphone to my Macbook (10.4, upgraded to 10.6.3) which has cost me not only the cost of an iphone I dont wish to use in its current state, but ≈£130 for the OS upgrade, and an additional £100 for the new external hard-drive to make sure everything was backed up nicely before I performed the update.PLEASE HELP ME, Im all out of things to try!!xxx Macbook Mac OS X (10.6.3) (Originally Tiger, Updated to Snow Leopard)

Forced to restore due to failed update iphone 4

Trying to update to 4.0.2 but I got an error and now my iphone crashed. All I see is the usb cord pointing to the iTunes logo. Restarting the phone didnt work. Looks like my only option is to restore, which will delete all my stuff. Im surprised Im forced to restore because the update failed. Cmon Apple, its 2010. Any help is appreciated.

iphone 3G with OS4

I am having some difficulty with an iphone that I got recently. Its a hand-me-down phone, so Im not complaining too loudly. But it was upgraded to the 4.0 firmware, and its getting all of the classic problems (freezing, dying, terrible battery life, etc). Is there any way to fix the problems without having to retrograde it to 3.1.3, or would that be my only option.As a follow-up question, in case work-arounds are impossible, how do I go about restoring my iphone to a previous version when the put phone in restore mode by holding the Home and Lock keys while connected to the computer and iTunes is closed fails to work because it cant connect to the server? Texts messages are hidden iphone

Since I upgraded my iphone to os4 it will tell me that I have new text messages on the home screen but when I open messages, I cant see it. I have to use the search option and if I put in the correct contact, it will show up.Once I have read the message, either the blue button indicating an unread message does not disappear or the button disappears but the number of unread messages on the home screen doesnt change.This is leading to me not discovering messages for days or not even realising that I have new messages to read!It is driving me INSANE! Restore from Backup Isnt Working Properly iphone 3G

I tried to restore my 3G from a recent backup, but when I try the restore from backup option (right clicking the phone) or a full firmware reset and restore from there, nothing is getting transferred back over. I tried both several times and no luck.I was worried the backup didnt have the info, but when I viewed it with the iphone Backup Extractor program, I can see that all my contacts, photos, SMS history, etc. is all in the backup file I created. I even tried a restore from a backup for a different iPhones backup and that worked just fine, but this backup wont read.I know I could extract the files so I have them, but I really just want all the settings and items restore to the phone since restoring settings, SMS history, call history, etc. seems to only be possible by jailbreaking and I dont want to do that. Is there any other way to get iTunes to properly restore my info from this backup file???

Volkswagen fiscon car kit iphone 3G

Hi there,I have just updated to OS4 on 3gs 16GB, when connecting my bluetoth to my fiscon car kit it no longer sync my contacts to the car. Battery life after iOS4 upgrade down by 75 iphone 3G

Hi Guys,I have an iphone 3g and i updated to iOS4. I had no problems during the upgrade. I used to get 48 hrs out of my phone now i am lucky to get 12 hrs and im not even kidding.... (during the 12 hrs i would use the phone on average to send 4 emails make 2x5 min phone calls and send 3 sms messages. very light use i would have thought.)Thats a 75% drop in battery life.I havent changed any setting after the upgrade. I have gone and removed most of my apps just in case but that has made no difference.There is no multitasking in the background so whats going on!!I cant roll back because thats not an option. I could try as some websites recomend jail breaking to restore the previous OS but i would rather not do that.Having to plug it in every 11-12 hrs is just not realistic....Regards,Stephen iphone 3g iOS 4

Im trying to upgrade my iphone 3G to iOS 4. iTunes detects that a new iphone version is available. After the software has been downloaded I click Update. iTunes then starts backing up my iphone. My phone wont stop rebooting then giving me a bar underneath the apple. I keep getting a pop up saying that the phone was interrupted while trying to back it up. It gives me the option to click Delete Backup which I am afraid to click because Im not sure if I will lose anything. Also it gives me the option to Continue Restore but when I do that, it just keeps rebooting and nothing happens. Cant see facetime onoff button iphone

Ive an iphone 4 with iOS 4.0.1 If I went inside Setting > Phone I cant see facetime option (on/off)...Any solution? ;( iphone 4 iOS 4 Vodafone Italy mobile operato
