How can I reinstall lost Safari and Camera functions iPhone 3G

Ever since I dropped the phone a week ago (still working otherwise), the Safari and Camera icons have disappeared from my home screen, and I cannot seem to find them. I have tried Reset Home Screen Layout from the Settings / General menu, but while the existing icons rearrange the missing ones do not appear. I would like to restore these icons if possible, but I am not sure how to do it myself.As I am a relatively new user, I am probably missing something, but I couldnt find it on a few searches for the information. iMac Mac OS X (10.4.11) iPhone 3g

Docking thru Bose System-not working iPhone

I just got the IPhone and plugged it into my working docking station attached to my Bose System - Apple docking Issued ( it works fine with my regular Ipod) - no music comes thru the system - although music is playing thru the IPhone speakers - and the IPhone is also charging - when I just plug it in thru the earphone jack it works - but at a lower volume - I know this because I plugged in the Ipod and the sound was much louder. well i got the iphone and had to restore it as it has been working but aquired some error tht the apple sign wont got away so now well it needs to be activated and well it shud be activated by itself as i have read but now says sim card doesnt appear to be supported wat can i do??? and well i am away from the us as i am now in egypt so having an egyptian sim card wat can i do to resume using my iphone again??? its the orginial iphone if it makes any difference and the firmware is now up to date.. iPhone 3G speaker problem

When ever I tried using the speaker phone, it gives me a loud sharp buzzing sound from the speaker and restarted my phone. Tried restore my iphone but still not working.I can listen to songs using the speaker without problems. HELP iPhone randomly reset and now it wont detect S card 3G

Ok so heres what I was doing when this all happened.I had called the Linksys support for a new router I just bought that wasnt working right. After waiting about 8 mins I was connected to a gentlmen in India, we worked on my problem for about 10mins or so and then all of sudden my phone just reset, or at least went to the apple logo and just sat there.then after 30 seconds it started ringing (before it fully restarted) and it was the tech gentlemen call me back. So I slide the thing to answer and the screen froze with the slider on the right but not unlocked but I could see the time and my back ground, just no buttons and I could still hear him and talk to him.After we fix my problem with the router he hung up, but my phone was still froze and then it started ringing (a friend had tried to call me before it reset while I was on the phone so I assume it was him again). I couldnt answer and it just kept ringing and ringing so I held the wake button and slide the red slider to shut it off.Left it off for 30 seconds or so then press and held it again to turn it on. Now it says restore need, connect to itunes!ok, so I did and after wait about 30sec to a minute after connecting it to itunes it comes up with this error:iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required. Disconnect your iPhone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tap Unlock to enter it, and then reconnect your iPhone.What the heck?! Ive had it randomly reset once before about a month and a half ago and which point I did have to restore, and it did and it worked fine after that.The SIM card is in there, and I have no idea what my SIM PIN would be, nor do I see the option for it they speak of! And this happened about 9:30pm, well after any Apple or AT&T stores are closed! I even turned off the phone, took the SIM card out and put it back and it still did the same thing!What would cause this to randomly just mess-up like this? I loved this phone when I got it but now that this is the 2nd time this has happened and much worse Im pretty ticked about it. And its not like I hacked it or unlocked it or whatever that is even called, the only things Ive put on my iphone are music, pictures, and programs I all got thru itunes!PLEASE HELP! 2 Questions about backing up Apps on iPhone

Ive installed 30+ apps on my iPhone and one of the big bummers of having my phone die or getting lost would be going in and re-installing and reconfiguring all of the apps. Im wondering what the best way is to minimize the likelihood I will have to do this. Two questions:#1 - I ran a backup of my iPhone in iTunes just now. Does that back up all of the applications and configuration data?#2 - Theres also an opportunity to sync applications. However, since I already have apps installed on the iPhone Im a bit leery of doing this given that it says it will erase whats on the iPhone and replace it will whats in iTunes (which is nothing app-wise). Can I get sync working properly so that I dont always have to remember to back up my iPhone?Thanks. MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

No service after 2.2 update iPhone 3G

After downloading the 2.2 update, I cannot get any phone service. If I restart my phone, I get 5 bars for about a second, it then jumps down to no bars, then it displays no service. WiFi not working right iPhone 3G

Here is the situation. Four of us at work have 3G iphones. Two of us cant stay on WiFi with being dropped. When we do get a signal, it says full strength but as soon as we try to surf- poof it drops to 3G. Tried a bunch of different things but nothing worked. I thought that resetting my iphone did the trick. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. It worked for both me and the other guy. We have great WiFi until the next day. Installing programs on IPhone whith ITunes 3G

The problem started that the IPhone showed that an aplication shoud be updated.While the aplication whas updating the icon showed load/wait for several days.The ITunes store at that time was availeble.After a second request for the update of three more apps, all these apps stayed in the same condition.The day after all the icons on the IPhone installed from the ITunes store looked normal, but in fact they where not working.Afther starting they all returned to the main screen after one second.So all the extra apps installed by me at the IPhone dident work annymore.I tryed tho solve the problem by restoring the IPhone whith the system software 2.2.Afther that the apps cant be replaced.All the apps are avalible in my ITunes program.The ITune program tells me that i have no rights to install them on the IPhone.On Windows XP im loged on as administrator.I am loged on in ITunes, and have an acount.my IPHone is a 3G one.I have installed the ITunes 8.0.2.20 software.What can be the problem?The only way tho install the apps on the IPhone is one by one.Then im still not sertain that the apps will work the next day.That wil take me another severall hours.It is already the second time this is happing.On the internet there is no expenation for this problem.is there an other solution for this?is there anyone who can help me whit these problems?Yellow Panda Paradigit Windows XP

GPS doesnt work on my iPhone 3G.

Hey, Im having a problem with my iPhone 3G, since the beginning when I first bought it, the GPS was working perfectly and I would always get a lock on my position using GPS.However, up until recently, the GPS no longer works and Im only able to get the Cell-Tower Approximation instead of an exact position. Im not sure why it is happening, but Ive tried a lot of different ways of fixing it; I even restored my iPhone and it still has the problem. Ive tested the GPS on other iPhone apps and it doesnt work well for it either.Anyone else having this problem? Bluetooth Quit working iPhone 3G

Yesterday my BT Headset worked fine. Today it will not pair. When I reset the phone it crashed and I had to connect to iTunes. Hi there,Forgive this post if it is a repeat - I searched and didnt see this exact problem though (but perhaps its a common one at any rate).I have a lot of apps on my Applications page, and until recently, iTunes did a great job of allowing me to quickly check and then download all of my updates (usually on a daily basis) from that page. Now, when I click the Check for Updates button at the bottom of the window it says I have none - even though my App Store icon confirms for me that I indeed have several updates ready to roll.I have de-authorized, re-authorized, restarted (computer and iPhone), re-logged into my account, and even deleted some and re-downloaded some of the applications. How I install backup to restored iPhone 3G

I know it sounds like a very basic question, but it does get a little tricky.To give you a quick run down of the situation: I am leaving the country tomorrow, and my iphone is locked to my carrier. I have phoned them and they said it would take up to 10 working days before my phone became unlocked, upon which I would have to restore my iPhone through iTunes for this to take effect (and losing all my data in the process).So obviously I am going to be overseas when this happens, so what I would like to do (and hopefully this is possible) is take a backup of my iPhone before I go and put that on a USB stick, and then load it onto another computer for when I go to restore my iPhone overseas.To put it in basic terms: Can I tranfer a backup to another computer and use it to restore my iPhones data? And would would I lose, if anything, in the process? (Im assuming my music and other media will be gone?) iPhone 3G

iPhone Screen constantly stays lit

I just got my iPhone 3G yesterday and all was working great. Stayed up late last night dling free and paid apps from the Apple Store. Now today the screen constantly stays lit (unless I power the phone off) and drains the battery in about 4 hours. iPhone 3G Home button problems .

Obviously Im not the only one...Come on guys give me some feedback. Newby here, and this is my first Apple product, I bought the phone last Friday on Dec. 12th, by the 13th the Home button had already quite working. I tried to go back up to the AT&T store to switch it out, not only were they rude about the whole ordeal but ofcourse sent me packing back to Apple directly. So,I spent 3.5 hrs on Sunday the 14th, on the phone w/ apple cust. service, and downloading the necessary upgrade 2.2 (which now I find out has more bugs than the phone came with) and it still did not fix my problem. Then had to do the complete restore on the phone through my computer. Problem fixed....so I thought. By monday the 15th the phones Home button goes out again... Now today the 16th Im on the phone w/ Apple cust. service yet again, telling me to send the phone into them b/c the closest Apple store is 4 hrs away, and I guess it would really be too easy for me just to run the phone back to the AT&T Store I purchased it from wouldnt it....That makes too much sense, but for 30 bucks apple will let me use a loaner phone. Now Im really doubting this whole iphone deal, Seriously guys, is this going to be an ongoing problem w/ this phone, I dont want to have to carry around a usb cable in my back pocket and have to tote a laptop with me every where I go so that I can do a complete phone restore every/other day ya know. I wouldnt buy a Porsche if I knew that I had to carry around jumper cables and look for some one to jump me off every time I left the house...just b/c you look good getting there is useless if the product doesnt crank when you need to get home....Also, lets say by some reason I do get one that the Home button actually works on....Should I stay away from the 2.2 download? I was also about to pull the trigger on a new mac, but though I would try a smaller/simpler item first before dropping a couple of grand on a company that Im not familiar with, but after this experience Im really not to excited about doing that...Any help or info. will be greatly appreciated....thanks for your time. no data recovered after update iPhone 3G

Hi!When I was updating my iPhone to 2.2 I received an error message (unkown reason 1602) I reinstalled iTunes (which was already the latest version). Everything worked out wel and my iPhone was working again. The only thing that went wrong is that my pictures, apps and music are gone. I tried to restore the latest backup (before updating my iPhone) but that didnt work.is there a way to recover these files? HELP Need to get an unlocked iphone 3G back to being legal

Hi everyone, now my father has bought a new iphone 3G. There are no carriers for it where we live. So my father bought it from someone who brings it from outside and unlocks it. my father isnt that tech-savvy, so ofcourse he didnt know whats unlocking, let alone the fact that its illegal. Now the iphone is unlocked and is working, we havent used any sim till now. Funny is it not, I care so much about copyright laws and these sorts, so I just need to make it legal again. In other words, I want to Lock it. Going into the about of the iphone, i found these details, its version 2.1 (5F136) , Carrier AT&T 2.6 , Model MB702LL, it also shows the serial number, the Wi-Fi address, the Bluetooth address, IMEI. Modem Firmware 02.11.07. When I click on Legal, the iphone hangs (lol). Now can anyone help me, can anyone know where was it bought from? how can I fix it? there are no carriers for where I am, so I can fix it in a country such as the uk maybe and lock it for the 02 network there? . Please Help!!When connected through iTunes my iPhone is recognised but I cannot play any songs, videos etc, everything is greyed out. my phone has never been connected to anything other than my computer (which has recently had to be re-installed after major crash and lost all data), it has worked fine before today! iphone earpiece problem and not usual pull out headphone jack

I have opened the iphone to change the silver round frame (which i havent managed) and after i noticed that it is too complicated... i closed the iphone...No the home button is not working or at least i need to press it very hard for it to work... and the earpiece is not working works fine on speakerphone or headphones but not on normal earpiecei dont think its the headphones problem cause when i try to increase volume it does not say headphones so the iphone is not thinking its with headphones... its just that the earpiece is not working..Im really down about it any thing i can do? 3G on iPhone 3G refuses to work. suggestions to what I should

Where I live there is no 3G coverage, but when I travel to cities I like to have my phone turned to 3G.This used to work but now it cannot connect, it tries but ends up just saying No Service and eventually turning back to EDGE / GPRS. The iPhone is on O2 and Ive held it against an iPhone that had 3G fully working while it was saying No Service in an O2 shop. Im wondering if O2 took me off the 3G plan because I dont use it as often as other people - Ill be emailing customer support soon - but I doubt that theyd have done this as the weekly contract fee is the same as it was when 3G worked... backlight not working solved iPhone 3G

ive noticed that many people have butter fingers like myself....in my case i was doing a flip in wal mart and my phone slipped outta my protector thing...luckily i landed but my phone didnt, lol...anyway..i solved the issue with reason for my iphone 3gs backlight not working...simply take out the sim card completely...and wala! hope this helps some people...i would post some breakdancing stuff...but i dunno if this accepts html/java code...anyway have a fantastic weekend!! sony vaio

S Lock not working After Hard Reset Since 2.2 Update iPhone 3G

Ever since Ive upgraded to version 2.2, my iPhone 3G does not go into SIM Lock after a hard reset or even after turning off Airplane Mode. iPhone Will not Take ChargeHome Button not working

I got my iPhone a couple months ago, and noticed recently that the battery stopped taking a charge when plugged into the computer. So I tried the wall socket and same result. And at the very same time the charging cut out on it my home button responsiveness dropped to zero.So I tried leaving the phone plugged in overnight. It got up to about a half a charge, but did not say that it was charging when I turned it on.So I have an iPhone that functions perfectly aside from the home button and either the battery or the dock connector.Any suggestions or solutions for this problem? my iPhone 3G is 4 days old. It has the most up to date software installed (we updated in the apple store when I bought it.)I have it set to go to the favorites screen if I double click on the home button, and this used to work, but now, inexplicably, it doesnt anymore. I have re-synced, and I have turned the power off by pressing and holding the sleep button. Any ideas what might be wrong? Buying Used iPhone

Apparently the phone is in full working condition, I will find out for sure tomorrow. The phone has apparently been jailbroken to be used on a different network. my scenario is this, I was planning on buying a new iPhone this week regardless, but I posted about selling my old phone (blackberry curve on T-Mobile) and someone offered to exchange phones with me for an iPhone 16 gig 3G. It smells fishy to begin with, but seems to be on legitimate as Ive e-mailed with the person pretty much all afternoon. I told the person I would need to see the phone before hand, but I want to have a few questions answered before I go ahead and make the trade.1. How can I verify if the Phone was stolen or not?2. If the phone is registered to the person, how can I change that information to my own?3. Should I leave it jailbroken or should I restore the phone?4. my contract was up with t-mobile, and its cheaper for me to be on AT&T; How do I go about setting up my service with them with a used phone? Do I have to sign a contract? is it wiser to just buy the phone from the Apple Store?5. Can I purchase apple care for the phone?6. Touch Screen not working iPhone

my touch screen stopped working about two weeks ago. I restarted and restored it at home and that did not work, so i went to the apple store and the tech restored it again. That solved the problem for about a week. Now it is totally unresponsive again. I have tried restoring it again, with no luck. I grabbed it up, dripping, with all the speed I could muster, slowed only by the involuntary and very loud expletive, and carried it to the sink for a quick rinse as an ingrained need for cleanliness overwhelmed my regard for science.The Apple Discussions pages offered little hope: No warranty coverage, a warning over a repair scam, referrals to services that would charge near replacement cost for an unknowable chance of uncertain recovery.The only hope seemed to be a legend reported by a couple of owners that embedding the iPhone in rice might suck out and up whatever moisture it had accumulated in its two swims.I put my phone, with its 900 contacts, 1,100 songs and 200 family photos into a bowl and filled the bowl with about a pound of rice that had been vacuum packed, perhaps two cups or so. my theory was that the rice would act as a homemade desiccant to draw out all the moisture on and in the phone.After thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided to take everything out to the garage, where I used a can of compressed air to blow out the phones earphone jack and the docking hole. Then, back into the rice it went.After an hour or so I grew concerned that the rice was attracting moisture from the air, conceivably either wicking more moisture into the phone or at a minimum not being as effective as I had hoped. So into the gas oven it went, the phone, rice and bowl. I figured that the gas pilot flame puts out just the right amount of heat, probably keeping the oven somewhere in the 130 to 150 degree range.I left it there overnight, hoping that the trick would work but without any confidence at all.First thing next morning, I pulled the bowl from the oven and the rice-dusty phone from the bowl. Without even blowing off the dust (which I did later), I turned on the phone. It lit! It worked! As the day went on, I tested all of its features. They all work just fine.So far the fix is working. While I am not certain that its permanent, I am confident that the phone got a really good drying out.If it were to happen again, I might be tempted to use a Ziplock rather than a bowl, the theory being that the rice would then attract less moisture from the free air. Also, in a perfect world Id probably rinse it off with denatured alcohol rather than water. There are folks who say that would displace the water better.But for the moment, Im a happy camper, lesson learned about toilets, iPhones, gravity and shirt pockets, and you have a story. Error 14 need to restore new phone but not working iPhone 3G

Tried to do my very first sync & something went wrong and a iTUNES & USB connector came up on the iPHONE screen. Error 14, followed help right through, even uninstalling & re-installing iTUNES but still cannot restore factory settings and start again loading up iPHONE software in the restoration process. Now doesnt recognise my iPHONE as mine at all. Lots of shut downs & re-starts on both iPHONE & iMAC.Tried everything I have read so far but at a loss of what to do now. How do I get my iPHONE restarted? The iTUNES & USB stays on screen and then eventually turns off.Any help will be greatly appreciated. iMAC Mac OS X (10.4.11) iPOD 80Gb iPHONE 16G

No phone audio but speaker phone works iPhone 3G

Since the 2.2 upgrade my phone audio will be dead unless I turn on the speaker phone. Doing a powerdown reset has fixed this in the past, but today no help. I searched the fourms and found others with 2.2 audio issues but in their case the speaker phone is not working, opposite of my issue.Sometimes it will work normally. Anyone else have this issue or a solution. This problem did not surface until the 2.2 update.Thanks iPhone3g

1st Generation Iphone Home Button stop working

Okay last night Iphone worked fine one moment, then 1 hour later the home button stop working. 1st thing I did was uninstalled the new apps I added (webmd, beejive) that didnt fix it. I then did a iphone restore and it fixed the phone. I went to bed, woke up and home button stop working again. well 4 system restores later the home button still isnt working. I schedule an appointment with the genius bar. and was told iphone was outside of warranty, (yeah i should have purchased applecare) and i was given the contact info for local businesses here in Austin, that can have a look at my phone. the other option,I could simply purchase a new phone . **I wish there was a homebutton app or even if the iphone headphone remote could take me to home screen when pressed. instead of playing music. if any has a solutions to the home button issue beside purchasing a new phone. I sure i just lint or something under the button, if anyone has solution please help me Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Suggestions Needed iPhone suddenly cant make or receive calls

my iPhone has been unable to make or receive calls for two days now. Been working flawless for a year, until now. All other functions (text, email, web) continue to work fine. I have a 2G iPhone running 2.2 and have made no unauthorized mods and have made no significant changes or additions in the past week that might have led to this interruption.Called AT&T and began to work with a service rep but got no solution. I have reset many times and even restored to factory conditions, but no luck. I have full signal strength and it says AT&T as my carrier. Thought it might be a network issue but my co-worker, with the same iPhone model, has no issues. Im told when people do call me all they get is a busy signal. Weird.Does anyone have any suggestions? iphone 3g completly useless someone help

as many apple iphone lovers i thought buying abroad could save me money when all it has done is create hassle after i upgraded my software to 2.2i originally bought my iphone 3g in hong kong and was given a sim card booster with my iphone, so when i got back in the uk i put it in with a pay as u go o2 sim card it was working perfectly until i downloaded 2.2 from itunes. then i lost all signal and my iphone was not picking up my sim card when it was working fine before the upgrade. after loosing all signal i restored my iphone to factory setting in itunes thinking it would solve my 2.2 problems but then when it had reset it was stuck on the emergency call screen and said i could only continue with a valid sim card inserted which i dont understand as my regular sim had no problems before some plz help!!!! what can i do to get my iphone back to its normal self .. i am not a pro with tech in an iphone so can someone plz help!!Message was edited by: dominic s sony vaio vgn-nr11s Windows Vista

iPhone letters dont pop up when keys are pressed 3G

You know how the letters pop up from under your finger when keys a pressed on the keyboard to let you know which key you press, well sometimes certain letters on my keyboard stop popping up. A restart fixes the key but a few minutes or hours (intermittent) later a different letter stops working. Anybody else have this problem? xps 420/iPhone 3G 16Gig Windows Vista
