Facetime Waiting for Activation Issue When switching S cards iPhone 4

I have an unlocked iPhone 4 from the UK. I first had an Orange France SIM card installed and all went well... Facetime was working fine. However, when I came to Dubai I inserted my local (Etisalat) SIM. The phone was functioning ok, except for Facetime. When I tried to switch it on from Settings, it kept saying Waiting for Activation.I am an advanced user. So, all basic things are checked: WiFi, Tried to reboot phone, tried hard reset, even tried Total restore, tried different WiFi network, SMS working, MMS working, 3G working...etc. I even tried the solution on Apples site (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4246).... Still no luck.Few things to note:1) I have a friend who has iPhone 4 on the same Etisalat network, and his Facetime works fine. The only difference is that Etisalat was the first SIM he put in.2) I tried to switch back to my Orange SIM while still in Dubai, and at first, Facetime showed Waiting for Activation, BUT when I rebooted, it was active and working fine... tried to insert the Etisalat SIM after that... and back to waiting for activation issue.3) Did same above with my AT&T SIM ... and got same result as with Orange France SIM4) Tried to call 888-facetime and they just referred me to the case referenced above, and the simple answer that your carrier may not support it! Thanks!!! I told the guy I know someone on the same network working on Facetime.I think the problem is that Facetime needs to be re-registered from the Orange # to the Etisalat # and for some reason that is not happening smoothly to the Etisalat #... However, how can I get that done... I cannot even find an email address to send to apple regarding this problem...If any of the Apple Tech staff reading this please respond!!! THANKS. iPhone 4 iOS 4

Iphone 3g No service

My iphone 3g has no service and i know its not a imei block. I can get it working if i insert my sim into another phone then insert my sim back into my iphone. However if i reboot iphone or turn of 3g or turn on airplane mode i get no service. Any suggestions.And also i have another iphone thats locked to a certain network but i dont know what network its on, any way of finding out. Custom Built Windows 7

MMS not showing up on 3GS or 4 iPhone

I have been having the common problem of no data network or MMS ever since 4.0 update on my 3GS, and figured Id just wait till my 4 came in the mail, however I just got it and its still not working! I checked a relatives 4 and his MMS and data is all working fine, and were on the same AT&T plan. does anybody have any ideas? Alienware iOS 4

Installing 4.0.2 results in error and phone in recoveryrestore mode iPhone 4

Plugged my phone in to update to 4.0.2 and iTunes downloads the update. It attempts to install it, errors out, and then when I do it again, it says the iphone has to be restored. What the heck? Also, prior to this update, whenever I have connected the phone to my computer, it syncs properly, but gives me an error message despite that. I usually just click through it and ignore it, has been working fine.Should I get my device swapped out for a new piece? (Also the home button sticks sometimes) dell xps m1530 Windows 7

PCiTunes dont recognize iPhone

Up until yesterday I was not having any trouble synching my iPhone with my laptop. Today I cant even get the laptop to recognize the iPhone.When I plug it in my phone makes the connecting sound, and it also starts charging. But the iPhone doesnt show up either in iTunes or in My Computer. I dont know if this had anything to do with it, but I had some trouble with a sync just before this happened and ended up disconnecting the iphone in the middle of the sync.I can connect it to my PC and sync it there, so I know it isnt the cable. Its only my laptop that has issues.Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Ive tried reinstalling iTunes, Ive tried resetting the iPhone, Ive tried rebooting ... Facetime not working right help iPhone 4

Wife and I just got our Iphone 4s. We both have facetime activated. Home wifi network.I can open a direct facetime call to her phone, but it doesnt register on her phone, call fails.I can call her phone, she answers and we both select facetime through the call, voice goes through but I can only see my face/she can only see her face.I have tried power cycling the phones, resetting the phones(through general settings), disabling my firewall. Nothing seems to fix the problem.What am I missing? Any thoughts? Iphone4, MacBook iOS 4

iPhone 3g 16gb recoveryrestore loop

Installed new update but dont have new features iPhone 3G

Besides having to install/restore on another computer before I could actually do anything... Ive now FINALLY got my iPhone 3G working again BUT I dont have any of the new features that come with the iOS4 update except for the folders feature. How do I fix this?Im really looking forward to the homescreen background wallpaper feature... 3G iOS 4

Facetime I think iPhone 4

Ok i got the iphone 4 and wanted to try using facetime. Well when i wanted to check it was on it was off. So I turned it on but for the first few seconds it did not say facetime. I know it is not a huge deal but it is a bug that needs to be fixed cause it is bothersome and everytime i turn facetime on or off ( to save battery life ) it shows this. Oh and facetime will not be technically on ( working ) until it says facetime. iPhone working by itself

My wife has an iPhone 3g on o2, it has started to act on its own (opening applications and making phone calls). If for instance it open the calculator on its own you can actually see it type the numbers, has anyone had this problem. It started doing this before I upgraded to OS4, I thought this might cure it but it hasnt. Please can anyone help? MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4)

4.0.2 Wifi issue iPhone 3G

Hi, a couple nights ago I updated to ios 4.0.2.I have 2 3g iPhones and after the update one was working. The other lost the wifi completely. Ive noticed some others having similar issues and have some reset recommendations which Ive tried.I seem to have something similar & completely different going on with my phone:1. No access points found in wifi settings2. Under general> network Internet Tethering circle just going round & round.3. POS iPhone 3G

So my 3g iphone was not working right so i went to the store and got a new one from my warrenty. i have had the new ohone for about a month. Today i hooked it to my computer to sync and it said i needed to download a update. my daughter unplugged it so it said now i had to restore it. now 7 hours later i am still waiting for it to restore. I am having way to many problems with it. now i cannot use my phone because it has to be restored and wont do it! it gets about 10 percent done and stops. i have tried 12 times now. still nothing. what should i do. i cant go without a phone and wait for an appt at apple. it is an hour drive from my house and this is just getting out of control. i phone 3g iOS 4

Regular Hotspots Wifi weasy PW shows connection but wont connect anymore iPhone 4

I must be the only idiot at my two regular hotspot cafes that cant connect to their Wifi. At first I thought that perhaps their systems were down, and I would ask them (reluctantly) to reboot their routers. Thereupon, their owners would use their Non iphone smartphones and indicate to me that their Wifi on their phones was working. Nothing else has changed on their systems ie passwords and type of router. My Wifi icon shows connected , as well as Network settings shows checkmark. Neither of the two hotspots are the kind that bring up a signup web page. I dont really want to do a Network reset, because basically , that was done when I set up the IP4 the first time, even though I did restore from a backup,but has to put in new network settings.When I go to the Apple store, of course, I am able to get their Wifi connection, so they probably wouldnt bother doing a hardware test upon seeing that I have a connection there. My wifi connection WPA at my House is fine. If I set up a Genius appointment, what kind of a hardware check would they do?After all these forums I have read, I sort of believe that the Wifi chip has to undergo some future firmware update to address some incompatibilities with certain routers/setups. iMac 2.4ghz Intel Based 24 inch Mac OS X (10.6.4) iPhone 3G S 4.0

Apple mobile device installed successfully on computer but will not show up iPhone 3G

I have been working with Apple for a week now and no one can get my iphone to recognize in itunes. I am getting the same message several people are getting that the iphone was not recognized please install the the correct program. to make a long story short, Apple mobile device is the problem. I can see it in the folder of downloads and it downloads successfully but it wont show up anywere on my hardrive. i cant see it when i go to uninstall a program or under device manager and the same errror message comes up wheen i plug my phone in. the lastest apple tech said i am going to have to either restore my compute to factory settings or buy a new computer. people cant phone when interference iPhone

HelloI have Iphone 4.I had Iphone 3g (always keep up to date software - 3.1.3 I think)I phone 3g started to not connect phone calls, people trying to phone me couldnt only effected about 10% of people trying to contact me.My texts were a little slow sending.Iphone 4Working lovely, over time, more and more phone calls wont get through, more and more texts are being delayed even though sent. I would say its about 80% of phone calls now and about 60% of texts. When people do get hold of me, there is a huge interference on the line, (apparently really bad for them).I have taken my phone to o2, who have reset everything, nothing different. I have all software up to date, the last o2 guy said make sure the software is up to date. My phone is up to date running, 4.0.2.Any ideas on why or what to do? How I solved my iPhone 3G IOS 4 issues

The main problem with my own iPhone 3G after the upgrade to IOS 4 was constant black screen freezing (at least five times per day if not more) and a little bit of a lag when running apps. These are the things I tried:Providing enough space on the hard drive (3GB spare) - Didn’t work.Turned off wifi - Didn’t work.Turned off location services - Didn’t work.Turned off Bluetooth - Didn’t work.Turned off all Push Data - Didn’t work.Full restore - Didn’t work.Full restore on brand new account followed by another restore on my account - Didn’t work.Using a ‘memory free-up’ App - Had a marginal effect on the lag but didn’t stop the freezing up.Turned off all spotlight options - Didn’t work.I contacted Apple twice throughout this process. The first one told me to download the firmware for 3.1.3 from a third party website and restore using this. I tried it but got caught in the loop on recovery mode insisting that I upgrade to 4.0.1 before I can exit recovery.I contacted Apple again to ask them how to get out of recovery after downgrading to 3.1.3 and they basically told me that I should never have been told to do this and the only way out of recovery is to upgrade to 4.0.1. I think my previous advisor got into a bit of trouble for that one.I told them their upgrade had basically broken my phone and that it was becoming as good as useless, bearing in mind I’d had no problems with it when running 3.1.3. They refused to accept that IOS 4 was the problem as it had been ‘thoroughly tested’. They told me to try restoring it on a new account, then going back to my own. Something about corrupt files. Still didnt work.Anyway, I was reluctant to use a third party program to ‘force exit’ my phone from recovery but in the end Apple gave me no choice and the freezing up was becoming intolerable.I bit the bullet at five days ago, downgraded to 3.1.3, used a program to help me exit recovery and that was that. My phone is now back on 3.1.3 and working fine again.How many freeze ups since the downgrade? Zero, and no lagging either.How many freeze ups when running on 4.0? At least five a day, every day.I feel like Ive got my phone back, and I wont be upgrading it again. iMac Mac OS X (10.5.8)

HELP half of my songs were not sync to my iphone 3g .

i upgraded my iphone 3g to ios4.0.2. but before doing it, i unsync my apps, music or songs and my photos.the process was smoothly and i was able to have ios4.0.2. i even checked the remaining apps on my iphone and they were working well and speed was normal.however, i noticed that my contacts disappeared. i sync my iphone to itunes to put back all my files,photos, apps, contacts and songs back in my phone and the apps were back on my iphone. no contacts. i checked my songs and they werent there so i resync it again to Itunes, i was able to have half of the songs that i have on my iphone but the other half were taking to long to sync but they are still on my playlist. i tried a hard reset twice, reset my laptop as well but no lack,it always stay to sync 1 song for more that 30mins and the bar never moves. i dont know what else i can do. tried to sync iphone4 to itunes on my comp not working now crashed HELP

Just got my new iphone 4. First thing i tried to do after inserting sim card is to connect it to my computer and itunes. Tells me i cant connect to this computer. then there was an option to restore settings and start over. So i do that, it says it can not complete until i restore the phone sttings and now the phone has crashed. The screen has a pic of the apple icon with a waiting bar. Cant turn it off or do anything else with it. Someone please help. im not the best at computers or phones..and now ive just proved it! i phone 4

iPhone 4 breaking on every update

I got got my iPhone 4 on day 1 and since then have dutifully updated to each minor OS revision as released by Apple.The problem is that every time I do, my iPhone completes shafts itself. It syncs and shows in iTunes as if all is well, but the screen just shows the Apple logo with the spinner (not spinning) over the top and beeps away to itself.This has happened for 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 - I am expecting the same issues for 4.1 when it comes out.I am currently waiting for my 2nd restore of the day to try and get it working.Is there a known issue, or have I got a dodgy phone?Cheers iPhone 4 iOS 4

Multitasking Problems iPhone 4

Whenever I have say 5 apps running in the background, and they have been sitting there for lets say and hour, when I go to close them out, one (usually Phone.app) will make my whole phone crash. I will press the red X, and within 30 seconds, the phones display will drop out and the phone will crash. Doe this happen to anybody else? this happens to me EVERY SINGLE DAY!And as for things Ive tried, I have restored my iPhone 4 about 4 times to factory settings so far with this last one as setting it up as a new phone. iphone 3g blank

so i have had an iphone 3g for almost a year and a half or so since its launch pretty much.its not unlocked,its still on vodafone and has been working fine so far..i updated to the new ios last month and things seemed to really slow down and werent working too well.today a strange thing has happened-i received a call,spoke for a short bit and then cut the cal and went back to work. Seems now my phone wont start up again,the unlock button doesnt work the home button doesnt work and neither does flipping between silent and general settings.the screen just doesnt light up.even when trying to switch off nothing works.apparantly people have been trying to call me and the call does ring on their end however i have no clue coz the phone is not ringing,no texts nothing,just sitting like an idle box...so is this a software issue related to the ios4 or a hardware issue?please advise and if there is any way i can recover my data?

2nd Hand iPhone HELPPP 3G

I brought a second hand iPhone from a friend and it had the 3.0 OS version and today I updated it to 4.1 and now I dont have no reception at all, I rang up o2 and on their system the sim is in working order and activated in the handset but I dont get no signal bars at all on my iPhone. IPhone 3G touch screen unresponsive

Hi, so my iPhone 3G has been working greets until this evening when the row of icons above the dock wouldnt respond to my touches. The area is completely un responsive in the home screen but when i go to the notes key board only the J and N wont respond. Additionally in my settings menu i cant click on anything in that same area but when i go into photos or calendar the area is responsive. I tried apples touch screen diagnostic by going into the calculator and found that 4,5,6 and + are partially unresponsive. Im not sure if this is a software or hardware issue so any input would be great. Mac iOS 4

Free bumper not working with car charger iPhone

This is great. My phone has bad reception so I get a free bumper. Now i have to take my bumper off every time i try to charge in the car because the hole is to small. I called apple and they said they are very sorry but thats life. I cant believe it. Has anyone else noticed this problem? I have the plain black bumper. Dont get it if your in the car a lot and charge in the car macbook iOS 4

hi everyone, i tried yesterday to update my phone with the new software, whilst in the process it froze. i decided to unplug it from my computer and my phone stayed frozen. i then put my phone in recovery some how lol. i went to restore my phone and this also kept freezing. i then deleted itunes and re installed it now its saying i cant restore at bthis time and need to try later. i have tried every trick on the net for rebooting my phone and nothing is working. the screen just stays on a cd with itunes and a usb cable. my phone is stuffed and i really dont want to loose everything off it as i have pics of my newborn baby on there. i cant speak to anyone as all my contacts are on my phone. help help please.vickie iPhone OS 3.1.3

iPhone Stopped working When Updating to 4.0.2 3G

Error 1002 after update to 4.0.2 iPhone 3G

I was prompt to download the latest update 4.0.2 for iPhone 3G. When I click to download and install, it finish download but fail to install. It come up error 1002.I have refer to my telco - which I subscribe too - and they can help. They suggest me to go for un authorized party to help me resolve the issue - since my warranty period is over.Why would this happen? Switching from Bluetooth to iPhone on call not working

When I answer a call and my Bluetooth earpiece is activated, if I want to talk on the iPhone (i.e. because my earpiece is upstairs or something), I cannot switch from Bluetooth to iPhone. I can switch from Bluetooth to Speaker and vice versa, though.Anybody else have this problem? Happened after I upgraded to 4.0.1. I havent done 4.0.2 yet. iPhone 4 iOS 4 4.0.1

Restore from Backup Isnt working Properly iPhone 3G

I tried to restore my 3G from a recent backup, but when I try the restore from backup option (right clicking the phone) or a full firmware reset and restore from there, nothing is getting transferred back over. I tried both several times and no luck.I was worried the backup didnt have the info, but when I viewed it with the iPhone Backup Extractor program, I can see that all my contacts, photos, SMS history, etc. is all in the backup file I created. I even tried a restore from a backup for a different iPhones backup and that worked just fine, but this backup wont read.I know I could extract the files so I have them, but I really just want all the settings and items restore to the phone since restoring settings, SMS history, call history, etc. seems to only be possible by jailbreaking and I dont want to do that. Is there any other way to get iTunes to properly restore my info from this backup file???

Iphone resest if open camera locks up if goes to stand-by 3G

I just put a ring/vibrate switch in my iphone (just the plastic slider part) since i put it back togetherIt reboots anytime I open the camera... the app opens for a second and the it starts the reboot. If flashes the screen white then the little silver apple pops up and take a while for it to start back up.i also figured out that everytime the screen goes off for over a 20-30secs ... it locks up... i moved the autolock to never and its been working unless i manually shut the screen.... then after a few seconds ... i have to do the hard resetthings ive tried1) master reset2) updated the software from 4.0.1 to 4.0.23) taking it all back apart and putting it together againIt would be hard for me to belive its a software problem but .... i cant figure out what i did wrong, i just changed out the plastic switch thing iphone iOS 4

I recently replaced my front panel on my iphone 3g 8g and after replacing everything and reaataching it I have nothing on my screen and its completely white and blank. iPhone wont make callssend textsconnect to internet

Hey yall,I updated my phone a couple of days ago to the new software update, 4.0.1.(2 now). My phone worked fine before the update. But now I cannot receive phone calls/texts, even when It says I have 5 bars and 3G coverage. Ive done everything. Took the sim card out, reset (network and full), restore, etc. The weird thing is when I do a reset, it will work for about a minute, and then go back to not working. Im not sure if this is my phone, the update or what. I know its not the coverage, because my families phones are working just fine with AT&T. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. iPhone 3G iOS 4

iPhone wont turn on 3G

Alright guys,My iPhone 3G broke a few months ago, so I ordered a new screen and tried installing it myself. I lost patience and so I bought a crappy phone to use in the meantime.I got really busy so I didnt finish installing the new LCD screen until last night. Im pretty sure everything is good to go with the screen, however, the iPhone wont turn on now. I plugged it in to charge and it wont even sync up with iTunes or anything.Im wondering, does not using the iPhone for a few months (obviously not charging it or anything) lead to the battery dying completely? I left it charging on the computer overnight and still no luck. I know it isnt just the screen not working because if it turned on, even without a working screen, it should sync up to iTunes.Do I have a dead battery? Are there any ways to jump start the iPhone? What fixed my iPhone 3G on slow 4.0.1

I cant say for definite that any of this will help anyone but I thought Id share what Ive got.On upgrading my 3G from 3.1.3 to 4.0.0 it went a bit iffy. On upgrading to 4.0.1 it went to the same awful place that most have been describing here.By luck more than intelligence and with the help thats available by a quick and simple Google I downgraded to 3.1.3. I had copied my 3.1.3 back up and my 4.0.1 back up to separate folders (so there was a little bit of intelligence going on !!).Things did not go smoothly though. The restore I wanted to use wouldnt show in iTunes and I had to move the restore files in the MobileSync folder around a bit before I got what I needed. I believe I set the iPhone up as a new phone to finally get it to do what I wanted it to do but after completing the downgrade and restore I then managed to re-upgrade to 4.0.1 automatically through iTunes - I was kicking myself with both legs at this point.Anyway, I restored with my 4.0.1 backup but then iTunes kept generating an error message. Following another quick Google I learned that there might be duplicate/corrupt files to look for. Sure enough I discovered that 3 voice memos had become 3 x 3 voice memos. I copied the originals to a safe place, deleted all 9 from iTunes, synced, and then restored the 3 originals - job done.It was a prime opportunity to have a flipping good tidy up so I deleted all the apps I dont use which was a surprisingly high percentage (and you know its the same for you !!) and then I reinstalled all the others one by one.In line with recommendations found in several of the high-volume threads for this long-ignored problem I have also: Reset Network Settings in General/Settings, removed all search criteria in General/Home Button/Spotlight Search, unfoldered any folders, done a couple of double hard resets, and smeared the handset with vanilla and passion fruit flavoured probiotic yoghurt whilst singing Rihannas Umbrella backwards in Swedish… twice… but then I havent got Colin from Hulls Jack Russell to lick my phone in the morning for me.I later discovered that Bento 3 had been massacring data willy-nilly - in particular there seemed to be an issue with media files. I backed up all the Bento data on my computer, trashed Bento from the iPhone, reinstalled Bento to the iPhone, and then synced all the data afresh - job done. A very important point in Bento is that before you sync or back up you should always close Bento down on your computer and re-open it as it seems to need that in order to verify any amendments you have made. Bento syncs have gone from minutes to seconds now.My iPhone is working just fine on 4.0.1 now - the odd tiny lag, sure, but I believe thats always been the case. I managed to retain all of my data including text messages and everything, phew. I have no idea which of the million things I did that ultimately fixed the problem but the 3G clearly is capable of running 4.0.1 - the problem seems to lie with how the upgrade process itself took place and whether there were deficiencies in that area or whether maybe the users current iPhone data condition plays more of a part. This final point opens up a whole raft of other questions because I never corrupted my data - Apple Updates, iPhone, and iTunes apparently did that for me !!For the record: I never had a bazillion apps on my iPhone, I regularly back up, I try to keep things tidy, I always bag every update that Apple recommend. It seems the whole concept of iPhones and iTunes keeping things simple isnt working any more - Im a bit nerdy so I seem to have resolved this problem and have hopefully dug deep enough into duplicates and/or corruptions to bode well for the future…… but thats not true for most people.Apple - shame on you… your long, long silence is deafening.Complain here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html - dont just assume that other people will do it - you need to do it too. so mad at ATT iPhone 3G

i know im not the only one with a problem with the 3g after the update but has anyone had any luck getting ATT to move up there upgrade date? I have been trying for 2 days now and im getting no where. Im willing to pay the $200.00 for the iphone 4 but they wont let me yet, not till April. Visual voicemail indicator not indicating new messages iPhone

Sometime around 7/22/10, I stopped getting notifications of new voicemail messages. I did not discover this until today, 8/9/10. AT&T wasnt much help, but a message from another forum said to try reset all settings. I did this and it got the indicator working again. Try settings>general>reset>reset all settings. I lost my wallpaper and I had to reset the voicemail password (which I didnt know, but learned it was my phone number without the area code). Send yourself a voicemail ahead of time so you know if this works. It should show up. Hope this helps! MacBook Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Phone will not boot iPhone 3G

Hope someone can help as Im out of ideas and googling ability. My wife got her phone out of her bag on Fri, and it was stuck on the Apple logo. Now it was working fine an hour before as I had rung her on it, and shed just put it away, so she hadnt been updating software, apps etc.Firstly I hard booted it, nothing. Then I put it into Recovery mode, ITunes saw it and allowed me to restore 4.0.1. It rebooted after it finished, but still stuck at the apple logo. I then tried again using DFU mode, same thing. Using irecovery, I was able to view the iboot loader, had 15 reboots and 1 panic reboot if that means anything. Im out of ideas, and typically, the phone is two weeks out of warranty. iPhone 3G with iOS 4.0.1

I recently updated my iPhone 3G to iOS4 and there were no problems at all. Now after updating to 4.0.1 I have noticed my phone keeps saying this accessory is not compatible with iPhone, every time I place my iPhone in my apple universal dock. Also the remote just stopped working with it. Has anyone else had this issue? MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Ok so I dowloaded OS4 a while ago and was working grand up untill a few weeks ago.Its murdered my battery life and It only lasts around 5 hours when its been fully charged~The only solution Ive heard from other users is to downgrade back to OS3 but I have no clue how to do that~Any help? Ipohone 3G with Ios4-no sound in games iPhone

i have Iphone 3G and recently updated to Io4. The phone became slow in responding even to apps. But the sound in various games (bubble pop, grand piano, NFSU -need for speed undercover) was working. yesterday I restored the phone through itunes and the speed is better. But now i dont get music and sound in these games though the music is on. Hi,I had error within downloading updates on my iphone started with 4.0 OS version.I received 99,9% of update package,but it stops working in the end. I tried different connections, different locations even contact local administrator with the feedback of error in iTunes application. No network connection loss.iTunes error text:There was a problem dowloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out.Make sure your network settings are correct and you network connection is active. or try again later.Have you anybody expirienced that? Software update iPhone 3G

Hi, I just updated my iPhone software and now my iPhone says insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone and my itunes says you must install a new version of itunes and reconnect your iphone.
