I was installing an app, it got to around 3/4 of a way and then stopped installing and I waited about 5 minutes alas it was still stuck on the same 3/4 mark. A friend told me to turn my phone off and back on, stupidly I turned it off halfway through the download/install and it wouldn't switch back on, it just stayed at the apple logo. I've tried many "solutions" like holding down the home and on button, doing that whilst it's plugged into the computer etc and it just won't turn on! I'm thinking a trip to the apple store is needed but the closest one is around an hour away so before that does anyone have any suggestions? :(
I've had a flaky lightning connector on my iPhone 5 the past week or two, where the cord must be jiggled around to charge the phone properly, and it's continued to get worse. Just confirmed with Apple that it'll be getting sent back for warranty work this week (it's a first batch iPhone from Sept. '12), so I need to back everything up and wipe the HD. Last night I ran the battery down (bad idea) and it did something it's never done before - I got the flashing red battery symbol with the cord + lightning bolt. Tried charging it via wall adapter and USB to my MacBook, and of course, nothing changed, but I also am only guessing that it's charging because the connector is flaky. After reading some posts of others' ideas on here, I left it plugged in overnight, hoping that it's been charging, and now it's completely dead and unresponsive. when I jiggle the cord around I get no response. Is there anything I can do? Any hope of reviving it so I can wipe it out? If I use my "find my iphone" app will it still work on a dead phone to wipe it out?
Apple recently replaced my broken iPhone 4s with a new one. Everything was great, the backup on my computer worked and I had all mystuff from the day before it was replaced. However, when i plugged it in to add a few new songs, they didn't sync. In fact, my itunes never finshes a sync anymore, it just stops here for no reason. Any suggestions?
My fully charged iPhone 4s used to last enough for 1 day. Today, I accidentally plugged iPhone into an iPad 3 charger for about 2 hours, then I noticed that it is getting abnormally hot. After this incident, the phone drains battery by decreasing 1% of the battery every minute. I went to see Apple technical support, who tested and said for certain that the problem was the battery (after assuring me that it should be fine to charge iPhone 4s with iPad 3 charger!). After charging me a hefty fee, I left the store, and iphone 4s still drains battery like before. Can my phone be fixed without requiring me to get a new phone? Can I get my money back from Apple techincal support, who gave me a wrong diagosis of my phone?
My phone just cut off and now it wont turn back on. It was charged and everything. I plugged it in to a couple of chargers to see if that would work but nothing.
my phone has been like this for the last month and its getting really annoying so if anyone can help with this id be really greatful.
Hi, so last week my phone suddenly turnt off. An hour later I could turn it back on, but then the next day the exact same problem and I couldn't turn it on. About 20 hours later and 5 programs I had fixed it. Then now, its 'died' on me again. Firstly, I have 100% battery. Connecting to my docking system turns it on but brings up the set up page (connect to iTunes on first use) It isn't recognised when plugged into the wall, I've used threee different wires and different wall adapters. iTunes can't restore it as half way through my phone cuts out and then iTunes can't find it. I don't touch my phone whilst connected so it's an internal issue there. I have tried other progams and they don't recognise my iPhone either. Could it be the battery? Should I replace it? Or could it just be loose? It's 2 years old, so yeah I need a new phone. But I currently can't afford to replace it, so I need as much help into getting this one working for now! Ha Ha Also, it's the iPhone 4 and it isn't water damaged.
Need to find a way to let apple know that the "new look" for iOS 7 is old! and boring! Looks like it was designed by Microsoft !!!In lacks the human touch, Steve jobs would never let this see the light of day let alone promote it as something new!!!
I started with one iPhone. Then an iPod was added. Then another iPod. And now 2 more iPhones. The phones are all under an A T & T family plan. when setting them up I used the same Apple ID so we would all be able to get the same apps. I'm not sure if this is correct. It is causing problems because any apps that are added to one device it automatically goes to all the other devices. And calendar events are popping up on other devices. Also whenever a device is plugged in to the computer to charge or update, they all say katie's phone which is the original device. How do I get iTunes to recognize each individual device? Any help would be appreciated.
my phone isnt switching on, when i have charger in the apple sign keeps flashing, please help
when I plug my iPhone 4s up to my Windows 7 64bit PC It is detected by the PC and iTunes, but it does not start AutoPlay. I have checked all the basics, making sure autoplay is set to "ask me everytime" the device is plugged up. yet it does not do this. I have reset to defaults on the phone as well as on my PC. AutoPlay still does not come up. This is mainlty an inconvience but still, it SHOULD just work and it doesnt. So any suggestions besides what I've already tried would be awesome. Thanks for your time.
Itunes won't recognize my IPhone, it still charges when plugged in though. Help?
Okay so i had problems with my iPhone earlier. It would power off randomly when I was or wasnt using it. And i also charged it when I had 30% but on the top right corner for the battery icon, where its suppose to show ' charging ' it showed Fully charged. and after it died, I plugged it back in with it saying its charging. The symbol with a low red battery with a charging sign. It stayed on that symbol for more than 12 hours and never turned on to the lock screen. And if i take it out of charge, it completely shuts off.But when i plug it back in , it has the apple symbol from when you turn it back on after you powered it off. It did that symbol repeatedly. Please help. The problem: Won't charge or turn on to lock screen Is there anyway I can do it besides taking it to Apple? Thanks (: I don't think I backed up anything, but I maybe did and I have lots of things on my phone. So is there any other solutions that I can use besides restoring it?
about a month ago i took a bath with my iphone 5 and didnt realized it and when i came out of the water the screen was black and didnt work and after that i putted my iphone in rice for 3 days so it dryed out but when i tryed to boot it up nothing happend so now after that month i put my iphone on charging for about 12h and when i came back the iphone was really hot and i could hear the speaker when i plugged my iphone in and out but the screen was blue like the starting screen but without the apple logo and i cant fix it. i tryed to restore it and reboot it ovar and ovar again but nothing worked. ! english may be bad !
Hey guys, I can play music and hear it just fine, with or without headphones. when I press on the keypad I can hear the noise it makes, I can hear calls with my headphones plugged in, or when the speaker option is on, however, unless this happens, I can't hear the person I am on the phone with. I've tried restarting, resetting, earasing all content, and restoring it with iTunes and that didn't work. I've tried cleaning the ports with a toothbrush, or pressing gently on the microphone and that didn't work.I've tried calling with the headphone on, and taking them off in the middle of the call and that didn't work either. I am currently outside of the US so I can't go to an Apple store, so I am wondering if any of you guys have been succesful at solving this problem. Your help is much appreciated Thanks again,
hi basically i got an iPhone 5 on contract from Carphone Warehouse (it has 1 year warranty from apple) about a month ago, It had a few small scuffs out of the box which i didn't really worry too much about at the start however i used a case i purchased through the apple store taking it off and cleaning and putting it back on about every week or so and have noticed some quite bad scratches on the side ( some visible without light shining on them and many with ) i have phoned apple who said they cant replace it as it is not a technical fault ( I did not mention scratches out of the box ) and carphone warehouse told me to speak to apple to get it replaced. Is there anything else I can do? (Im in the UK)Many thanks -Harry
Phone operates like the ear buds are plugged in when it isn't. Texts & email notifications vibrate instead of sound notifications. Video volume slider only appears when the headset is actually plugged in. How do we fix this?
My power button on my phone stopped working so before I went to the apple store today I backed up my phone to the computer (itunes) instead of icloud. Now I have my new phone plugged in and I hit restore from computer. It restored all of my texts, pictures, contacts, voicemails etc. Most of my apps restored except for like 10 recent ones which were all PAID for apps. Then a message popped up saying not enough icloud storage to finish restoring. I'm not even using icloud so what is the problem?? I also checked all my apps on itunes, none of the apps that dissapeared are on there either
I pluged it in and it keeps flashing on and off. Does anyone have a solution?
A couple days ago, I dropped my iPhone 5 in water. I put the phone in rice to dry out. After letting it sit in the rice for a couple days, I took it out. The phone works completely fine, I'm recieving calls and text messages, and I plugged the phone into the computer and it's at 60% battery. However, I can't access my phone. when I try turning it on, the screen is black, and it remains black. I've tried holding down the power button and the home button, but the Apple logo doesn't show up. How can I get the screen to start working again? I got my phone from Sprint, would I be able to take it into Apple and get help or would I have to go to Sprint?
In november my friend purchased me a black iphone 5. It was awesome with No problems. Recently however, I have been experiencing a very short battery life. After a day of light usage sometimes my battery will dip below 5 percent. Now, I already tried disableing bluetooth, turning off data and wifi when not being used, and even turned down the brightness to half way. Because the iphone is certainly defected, when I exchange the iphone is there a possibility to swap it out with one of a different color, as the black one devolops scratches along the champhered edge like crazy, also ios 7 looks wayyyyyy better with the white iphone, it just blends into the device itself. Anyways, thanks for any responses
I have been having problems charging my Iphone. when plugged to the mains or pc, the phone acknowledges its connected to a power source (can see the "plug" sign and the sound made when the phone is connected to a power source), yet the battery life does not increase. I had kept my phone on charge for over 16hrs and no increase in battery life. Can someone please help me try and sort this problem out?
I have been having problems with my iphone turning off at anywhere from 80-100%, in fact I haven't seen it anywhere near 50%or less in about 2-3 months. Sometimes it would turn back on if I press the power button or home and power button, and would show the same battery % as when it shut off, but would die right away again till I charged it. Sometimes it wouldn't come back on till I put it on the charger. Last night I took it off the charger when it was 100% and went to use an app right awayand it died still at 100%. I put it right back on the charger and expected it to turn right back on or at least turn on in 15-20 min. It has been on the charger sonce last night and still has not come back on, and yes it shows the lightning bolt like it does whenever it is charging, and shows no battery power. I have tried pressing the power button both on and off the charger, tried pressing the home and power button for 15 seconds, and even tried longer both off and on the charger, I have tried changing cords and the adapter, and different outlets, I have tried plugging it into the computer and it again shows the lightning bolt and low battery thing and itunes and the computer doesn't even acknowledge that it is plugged in. I'm confused as to what else I can try. Of course it dies after 1 year warranty is over.
I can't get my computer to recognize my own iPhone. This is a problem I have been dealing with for some time now. I know my port on my computer isn't broken because it recognized my mom's iPhone when I tried hers. Also, it charges my phone when plugged in. I'm trying to reset it. Please help!
I was trying to download music on ITunes and my phone was plugged into the computer, then something popped up asking if I wanted to download a new software and I did. It downloaded and then my phone turned off. It won't turn back on but the screen has a picture of an auxiliary chord and an arrow pointing towards the ITunes icon. So I plugged it back into ITunes and it still won't turn on and that picture won't go away either. I have tried holding down the lock button & home button at the same time for 10 seconds but that didnt do anything either. I have no idea how to get it back on. PLEASE HELP
I need help, my just turned itself off and now it won't turn on. I just don't know what to do? One moment it was on and then it just went dead. Please someone tell me what to do? I tried syncing it with Itune but my laptop won't recognise it. I haven't plugged with the charger but I doubt that will help. It was acting a bit weird before it turned off, like the applications kept on minimizing on there own and stuff. I had also accidently turned on guided assistence and forgot the passcode but after a bazillion tried I managed to put in the right code and I had hotspot on for a long period of time. Please anyone help me
I lost all my pictures from Africa on my phone. It was the first time I plugged my iPhone into my laptop and iTunes was there. I did hit set up new phone but it said your phone has been restored for some reason. Lost all my contacts and photos as I didn't realize set up new phone meant it would do that. I thought it was just setting it up as a new file or whatever since it was new. Didn't know about iCloud at the time so no it wasn't turned on. Is there any way to get them back? Please help The guy at apple store said to go do this and then if its on there from the date I lost them (6/2/2013 4pm) then the pictures should be there still. I just dont know how to see them or find out if they are still somewhere saved. They are not in my pictures folder or recycle bin.
My iPhone 4S shuts down while taking pictures and video when power is lower than 40%, says there is no battery left. when phone is plugged in it turns on and shows what % is left, yesterday it happened and it came back on at 41%.

Hello there! i'm just wondering will my iphone 4s will get fixed? cause ive been to a stores lately and they tried to fix my iphone and it get error and error all over again 1611 and -21 They tried replacing the battery but nothing happens still on error and they said it's a hardware problem, i tried different fixers already like 3 stores here in philippines, but the last they said it's 50/50 and the hardest thing that ever happend to an iphone, i think they replaced the main memory of the iphone and still doesn't work. they said id just sell the phone to them like 500 pesos. can any one help me? suggestion? - i bought the phone on 2nd hand store in philippines at greenhills, i only used it for 1 month. and i notice when i turn it off, and turn it on the apple logo just light up and past and then apple logo again, then some times there was a blue words on the upper part like an error or something, and then the last time i restarted it, it never goes on. just the apple logo blinking.
Hello everyone, I'd like to know if it is possible to VNC from my iphone/ipad to my macbook without wifi? I use real VNC viewer to access my Macbook (which has Real VNC Enterprise Server installed) using my iphone/ipad and it works well when I have Internet. However, I'd also like to be able to control my mac from my iphone in the same fashion when I do not have access to WIFI or wired Internet. I have scoured the net for answers and while there are plenty of links for controlling your iDevice from your Mac, there is seemingly nothing out there that shows you how to do the reverse in the absence of Wifi. I have read about SSH tunneling via a tethered USB connection but have not found any comprehensive instructions as to whether such a method would work to control my Macbook with my iPhone/iPad. I was hoping there would be devices such as receivers plugged into the USB port that would allow this sort of interaction when no Internet is available but haven't come across any. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks.
Why won't the back light on my iPhone 4s turn off?
So apparently I have terrible luck with Apple products. I've had to replace my iPhone 5 3 times already. Gone through three phones within the same week. The one I have right now seems to be doing fine hardware wise as the lock button seems to work fine for now. But as I received the new iPhone yesterday hoping all my troubles would be gone the phone shuts itself down after displaying a pattern of grey bars on the screen and then shows the Apple reboot logo for about 5 seconds before it slowly fades out and then tries to reboot again. Is this software related or do I have another hardware issue? I have restored it twice and it has happened both times. On a side note, the compass doesn't appear to work. It gets stuck on zero degrees and doesn't work at all on the Maps app or the Google Maps app. It is pretty cloudy here but usually when it's cloudy it shows some sort of response. This one shows none. Please, I just want a working phone.
My charger broke last night so i got a new one today, the man in the shop showed me that the charger he was selling me worked on his phone and was fine, i put my phone on charge an the screen is black, usually you get the charging symbol but im getting nothing? can anyone help? ive tried holding the 2 buttons at the same time for 15-20 seconds and nothing, tried connecting to computer and nothing, the computer doesnt even regocnise that anythings plugged in. Do you think its just completly dead and needs to be left on charge? or its broke? HELP ?? Thank You x
I have tried everything I could find on this to sort it.My phone is my life and all it's done is cause me trouble since iOS 6 came out! This is the latest issue, woke up this morning and it refuses to charge but it is registering the charger. It's been plugged in for about 45-50 minutes and its still not letting me turn it on or hard reset Please help! And I know "bring it to apple" and "check the warranty" will be suggested but our local apple representatives "don't deal with iPhones" and I don't think it's in warranty
My iPhone keeps dropping its cellular connenction for the Internet. I have to switch the phone off and back on or mobile data on or off or a combination of both to make it work again. On a possibly related but maybe unrelated note it also switches off while it still has battery (sometimes with as much as 30% left), then it won't start until it is plugged in again and then it starts up showing plenty of battery.
This red light has been present for a long time now and I can see it clearly at night and vaguely in the morning. It is actually quite annoying now. Surely I can't be paying so much for a phone that is going to do that? Can you guys please tell me what this is and why it's happening?
My iPhone 5 have rattling noise when lighly shaken and some light leaks problem. Can I get free replacement from my carrier if its still under warranty?
My iPhone 4s will not connect to any charger I've tried in the last two days EXCEPT my Sony dock at home, but then only after 3 or 4 tries to get it to connect. I have multiple iPhone charging cables, and I've tried them all. I've tried them plugged into the wall and my MacBook. I can't get any of them to connect. At this point I can't even sync or backup to iTunes because the device is not recognized. Any suggestions?
I let it sit in rice/grits for a very long time. After leaving it in the rice overnight it worked fine for a few hours than it just shut off that day. I tried turning it on but nothing so I plugged it in and it turned on but then it glitched and kept just turning it off. So I plugged it in the computer and and did the recovery mode for it because it wouldn't turn on at all anymore even with the charger. But now after I did the recovery mode it'll only turn on a little bit, like it will only show the white apple for a slight bit then shut off, then it will just constantly repeat. I took it off the charger thinking that it might be bad for the battery and put it in rice again but still the same results. Any suggestions on what else to do or what could be wrong with it? Do you think I just have a bad battery and need to replace that? I'm trying to avoid spending any money or better yet having someone else look at it.
when the Iphone 4 is pluged in to mains it asks for Itunes. so i plugged it in to Itunes and it asks to restore Iphone..but it comes up with and error message. An unknown error has occured (21)Can you give me some advice?
I dropped my phone today and my LED light on the back by the camera turns on and off randomly. I've dropped it before today and it just now started doing this. How can I fix it or do I have to bring it in to a Apple store?
Hi there, I was on my computer tonight, with my iPhone infront of me on charge via the wall charger. My arm was ever so slightly resting on the corner of my phone. when I realised there was a sharp pain in my arm, kind of like someone pricking my arm with a needle. I assumed it was some form of static shock. However it happened whenever I touched the corners no where else. There are no small chips or anything that could feel shark when touched. I'm not especially worried about this, just interested to know a: Whats happening and b: if anyone else has noticed something like this. Weather has been quite warm and humid lately which I know can cause static electricity. It appears to only occur when the phone is plugged in, which generally makes sense. ThanksMatt
Recently a customer came in to replace his broken glass on his Iphone 5. I replaced the LCD + Digitizer assembly with a new one. The new screen was working properly except the camera shutter would not open. I removed the new screen to see if i accidentally disconnected the camera, but everything seemed to be ok. when i put the assembly back on, i no longer got any image or display on my new screen. It was just blank. The back light turns on, but no display at all. The power is on and iTunes recognizes the phone. I have done several screen replacements for the Iphone 5 before and this is the first time i have had this problem. Nothing seems to work....I have tried 3 different new screens and all had the same issue. I did a hard reset and same issue. I did a restore via iTunes and same issue. I would think that the parts i had were bad, but i tested them on another phone and they worked fine. I'm so puzzled. Can anyone suggest anything new for me to try?
I have had my iPhone 4S for barely ten months. In the past, I have had small problems that would either fix themselves or just stop occurring, such as freezing issues. But recently my phone was drained to a 1% and after realizing this I quickly plugged it into a car charger. About 15 minutes later, I noticed it had switched to an 100% battery charge. I blew it off and the next time I glanced at my phone it was back to 1%, so I turned it off thinking it would reset it and I would leave it to charge. I came back to the phone maybe 30 minutes later to power it up and it displayed the red sliver of battery with a lightning bolt underneath it. It stayed like this for a good while and eventually came on. Since then it has been stuck on this 1% battery charge. One last thing I noticed was that the bolt inside of the battery on the top right hand corner sometimes shows a plug, saying its fully charged. I'd rather not turn it off because I'm not sure it will come back on. What do you guys suggest I do?
Hi, I'm an owner of a relatively new iPhone 4S and just out of the blue it's stopped charging last night. I plugged the iPhone into my laptop last night- as per usual- and for some reason it showed only the 'plug' symbol and not the lightning bolt.I didn't worry too much hoping it would charge anyway. This morning the percentage has stayed at 30, occasionally dwindling down to 29 then back up to 31. I've changed the USB, the output and tried plugging and unplugging numerous times and now am at a loss! The phone is still recognised by my computer and syncs whenever plugged in.I've done a hard reset soft reset and now all that's left is to restore to factory settings, but I doubt it'll do anything! Please could someone help! Thanks, Rebecca
Iphone 4s will not power down and does not hold a charge an enitre day. Even with minimal use still will loose charge. This has gradually gotten worse since March. I have done numerous hard starts, done 2 restores to the phone and no improvement. I clear the home screen daily to every other day. If the phone is plugged into the computer, I can power it down but as soon as you unplug the phone or shut the computer off, the phone powers itself back on. when flying, this is really difficult since phone does not power off. Seems to be a common issue from google searches, so........ why wouldn't Apple addressed this?Anyone have any other suggestions to try or had this happen? Is this a fix on the supposed upgrade??
I had an issue with my iPhone 4S. I accidentally dropped it in my toilet. It was there for no more than 1 second. I took it and turned it off (it was still working when I took it off). But after a few minutes the phone turned itself on twice and LED light from rear camera was on, first it was constantly on then started blinking. I turned the phone off again and LED shut off. Put the phone in a bag and covered with uncooked rice to remove moisture for almost a day. The phone is fully functional, but the LED light is not working at all. Is there anything I could do? Thanks.-
My Iphone 4 wont turn on, but if i have it plugged in the wall for in long time it turns on by itself and gets stuck at the apple logo.i've tried everything but it still doesen't work, can you please hep me?
