How can I transfer my contacts from motorola android to iPhone 5
I have had it with all the resets and restores I have performed to get wifi on my 4s. Out of warantee but still8 months on my contract. My old 3gs is available. How do I go back to it until my contract expires?
I have an iPhone 4S. In January, I started to notice that it would die at 30-40%. Gradually, it started to stay stuck at 100% almost all day then die around 60-70%. Then it went completely bonkers. It would go from full charge to 15% to 0% in minutes. Plug it in and it would go from 0% to fully charged instantly. I took it to Genius Bar, diagnostics showed the battery was fine and they told me to restore it and set it up as a new phone. That didn't solve the problem. Went back that day and this time, the diagnostics showed the battery was bad so they replaced it. It worked normally for a little bit before it started doing the same thing again. So I took it back and they replaced the phone. After a few weeks, the same thing happened with the new phone... stuck at 100% for a long time, dies at ~70% (keep in mind I set it up as a new phone so rule out any software issues from a previous backup of the original phone). At this point, I'm thinking it's a faulty charger or something that's screwing up the hardware. So I was back in the Apple Store again. They replicated the problem and told me to restore the phone and set it up as a new device. Having been through this before, I asked them to restore it right then and there because I knew it wasn't going to fix it. Sure enough, it happened after the restore. So they replaced the phone again. That was three weeks ago. I started using a completely different charger (Apple charger, not third-party) and even changed outlets, but the new phone is doing the same thing again. Over the weekend it died at 48%, then 50%, now 56%. I don't know what to do anymore. I can probably go get the phone replaced again, but it probably won't make a difference. Any suggestions? I've done several hard resets, tried to calibrate the battery, let it run out completely and sit there for a couple hours before plugging it back in...nothing works.
does restore iphone backup resets the iphone to older iOS?
My iphone 5 has the latest ios 6.1.3 and the battery life is hit and miss. The phone has been factory wiped in itunes and re set up. It sometimes will drop 50 percent on its own in a couple hours. If i do the home button and power reset on the phone the battery will report better. Maybe its a software glitch. I was also disappointed with the fact that i bought a high end home stereo and the iphone doesnt support the new apt-x codec yet their laptops do? Why is this. Its no wonder apple stocks are falling. I have owned every iphone since the 3gs and really have not seen any real improvements other than processors and screens. Poor customizations, lack of ability to personalize the phone and really nothing to keep me with buying another apple. This is unfortunate as the hardware is great but the feature set just hasn't improved in 5 years. In fact i think it has gotten worse. Being a communications tech i used to use wifi apps for testing signal strength on installed accesspoints and those apps got stripped be ause of apples sdk or whatever it was. The slew of apps on the android market for this is staggering. Now i see that motorola, htc and samsungs are all supporting the apt-x codec but no apple. Gps apps are poor and apple maps for our area are black and whit and half are covered in clouds from the satellite view so you cant see the streets anyways. As a business phone the iphone is looking less imoressive day by day. As a music player its also now being outdone. I hope apple takes some of this to heart and really does something impressive to IOS 7 to restore faith in its fans. And maybe some day we will be able to use one of our songs for a ring tone instead of having to pay. My old cdma phone even had this ability.
Wi fi and bluetooth not working on iPhone 4s. Was working and just stopped in middle of playing a song over bluetooth to the car. Cannot even turn Wi-Fi on, as it is grayed out. Bluetooth just searches and searches, never finding anything.... Did a restore to factory defaults and also turned iPhone off and on via the wake/sleep button, and did software resets on phone and networking. Nothing helped. Any other ideas? Could it be the antenna or something physically internal on the device? Lisa
Pls have this to pay attention for. If this is a hardware problem, what must be done to repair it? If that's a bug, when shall A.guys have a fix for that.BTW, may that be a problem actually linked to Bluetooth connectivity in the first turn? Bluetooth connectivity option is constantly "trying to determine it's state" (BT option setting shows "busy" running circle instead of on/off state), and after it finally gets to off state there appears to happen some change to wifi option behavior. Once it had even started back for an hour, but fell back to disabled soon afterwards. At least both these problems appeared together at the same time. All possible resets, firmware restores and 6.0.1 did not fix that. Shall I need to jailbreak the OS to fix it? And btw, the whole situation already ran a lot of people into high spendings for their 2g/3G overwhelming cellular data traffic. Apple to apologize for that at least? Or shall there be iPhone 6 and the problem would remain unfixed and unnoticed?
I have had this issue for many months. I have tried hard resets. Another issue I've been having is when I get a photo in a text message I will try to open it, all it says is "Loading.." And nothing will appear and I try to exit out of it and the phone freezes for a minute or so then just kicks me out of photos.
Suddenly it's gotten so that my iPhone4S (on Verizon) isn't ringing when Bluetooth is on. It does get calls on the screen and it does make sound otherwise. I turn Bluetooth off, and it always rings now.I suspect this may be particular with the Pansonic land-line headset/bluetooth connection I use. It was great when working in that my land lines would ring (with the sound of my cell ringtone no less) and I could get cell calls on any headset in the house. It used to work all the time (For several months at least and perhaps my bluetooth on this phone isn't as strong as the old 3GS?)Something to look out for if your phone stops ringing and can't otherwise be explained or fixed by resets etc.
Hi, I am new to the forum so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong location. I recently had the dock connector repaired on my iphone 4 and since getting the phone back the home button on the phone does not work at all. As well as this I am unable to get any sort of signal with the No Service message present at the top left of the screen. This occasionally scrolls to searching presumably looking for a signal but then returns to no service. I have tried the sim card in other handsets and it still works fine so I am at a loss as to why I am having these issues. I have also tried multiple restores and resets of the iphone to no avail. Any tips on the matter would be greatly appreciated Thanks
Having troubles with the iPhone 4 and (re)pairing a motorola H3 bluetooth headset. These two worked beautifully just last week in 2010.Bluetooth on phone working fine with another headset, so next step:1. Select motorola H3 in Bluetooth menu2. Forget this DeviceThen, power-down the motorola H3, and turn on while holding the phone button down until the led is continuously lit (pairing mode)The motorola H3 appears in the Bluetooth Devices list with the status "Not Paired" and when selecting - produces the error:Connection UnsuccessfulMake sure "motorola H3" is turned on and in rangeWhat's missing is the pairing passcode entry - weird! Thought it may be related to leftover data, so reset the iPhone (home button and power button) to clear the memory and remove any residue.Did not solve.
Noticed last night for the first time; as long as LS are turned on, the icon is apprearing in the corner -- even if no apps are running. Done multiple resets and memory cleaning, as well as turning off every app in the quick-start bar, but the arrow icon is stil there. No new apps. We're in the middle of moving, so until I get my computer set up in my new place I can't do an iTunes sync to see if that solves it. Anyone else ever have this? Any suggestions?
I updated my 4S to the latest update and now WiFi is greyed out and Bluetooth does not work either. Tried the recommend restore/resets etc. nothing has worked.
Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas as to a cure?
We have been having trouble with our iPhone 4. It will just die. I researched the web and was able to find the information to restart it by pushing both buttons. This resets it, but does not last. I did a complete reset on the phone then updated it, but it continues to turn off and has to be restarted. It is out of warranty, any help would be great.
Here's the story. I dropped my phone in a swimming pool. It did not start at first. I layed the phone in a bag of uncooked rice and after 5 days it seemed like it was going to startup again. However something was wrong with teh battery so we ordered a new battery. The phone started up with the new battery but it wanted to go into that recovery mode. I did go through the backup procedure in iTunes and then recovery. The phone is now starting up fine but it is blank from apps and photos like a new phone. I did not have any photos backed up over iCloud before this happened. However shouldn't the photos still be on teh memory card of the phone? I thought the recovery process just resets the phone to factory standard, not deleting my photos. How can I get my old photos out of the phone? They are not in the DCIM when I log on through Windows explorer as well.
My gmail stopped working with the latest iOS update. Any thoughts on how to fix it? resets are not working.
I recently did the upgrade to ios6. My wifi was working fine priot to this. Once upgraded, my wifi does not work. When i go into settings, the wifi on/off slider is greyed out and I cannot do anything with it. I have done all kinds of resets and still nothing.
Hi, I am having major issues accessing the internet and loading web apps after the 6.1.2 update on my iphone 5. Anyone else having the same...have tried all th usual resets etc. So frustrating - why can't Apple test software releases properly! Vivek
Hello, My new iphone 5 for verizon is having some issues. 1. App Crash - Almost every app I open, excluding pre loaded will not function. I have to re open the app several times to get it up. after updating to the new IOS last night I have noticed the frequency increase2. Music will not play - for the last week or so, my music players will not function. Pandora or apple music specifically. I load the app, select music and it starts to play and immediatly pauses. I have done soft resets, turned phone on and off and reloaded pandora to test. I am wondering if this is a hardware or software related issue. Any advice on possible fixes would be appriciated. I am thinking I might need to go into apple, but would like to avoid this if possible.
i have updated my iphone 4S to iOS 6.1.1 update but noticed no sound is coming out from the external speaker after the update (ringer / music / sounds). Tried toggling mute buttons, clean dock connector, plug/unplug headset but no luck. Yesterday, I have updated to latest update IOS 6.1.2 but still no luck. Did hard reset / restore.... restore and another series of hard resets but still no luck. It seems like its a software problem since I never had this issue prior to updating my iphone. Appreciate advice/suggestion. Thanks
I bought a motorola H720. I have the iPhone4s. My phone recognizes and pairs with the device, but, when I go to bluetooth and turn it on, the phone acts like it is searching for the device even though it is connected. My question is, if I leave that screen and go back to the home screen does it stop searching?
This is getting very old. Each and every software update I have done since buying my iPhone 4s about 10 months ago has resulted in "iPhone could not be updated. an error occurred" Today's attempt to update to 6.1.1 resulted in this message with (6) as the code (past update fails have resulted in other codes). My phone is now stuck with a black screen with the picture of the usb plug with an arrow pointed to iTunes (recovery mode). I love my iPhone, but the love is growing dim, since eery single iOS update has caused a similar error, each time requiring a completely reset of the phone, setup as new, restore - which get my apps back, but resets all settings (including email accounts). Yes, I synced the phone prior to trying to update. At this point, my apparent only avenue is yet another "restore" - a royal pain, and what should be totally unnecessary for a tiny incremental update (iOS 6.1 to 6.11). And yes, I was experiencing what I believe was the issue this update was to correct - cellular data issues (and actually - intermittent WiFi issues as well). What ever happened to Apple... it just works? And no, this iPhone has never been jailbroken (I have been asked). Next time there is an update available - maybe I should head to the Apple Store and hand it to a "genius" an tell him to update it...
Yesterday, I realized that my iPhone 4s was running slow on our home Wi-Fi (AT&T U-Verse with a motorola Gateway NVG510). I have the 12 Mbps plan and typically get around 11.0-11.5 Mbps on my MacBook, MacBook Air, iPad, iPad 2, etc. But, I used Speedtest yesterday after my phone felt slow and it is getting 1.5-3.0 Mbps at the most. The weird thing is that, up until now, my iPhone has tested at the same 11.0-11.5 that all my other devices get. I also checked my girlfriend's 4s and hers is going slow as well (1.5-3.0 Mbps). Why are the two iPhones the only things that are going slow on Wi-Fi? I haven't changed any settings on the phone or to our home network (nor do I even know how to!). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I have restarted the wireless gateway and restarted both phones with no change to Wi-Fi speed.
I am in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I got an iPhone 4 GSM from my friend, which I plan to use if my iPhone 4S dies and I need a loaner. The iPhone 4 GSM is not jailbroken and it's locked to Telus Mobility in Canada. The iPhone is running iOS 6.1.However, the home button on the iPhone 4 sticks almost every time I use it (closing running applications is a real pain since most of the time the iPhone doesn't detect that I've pressed the home button twice), and the phone occasionally resets itself for no reason. I didn't get a receipt for the iPhone 4 when my friend gave it to me and I don't have any sort of warranty for it.Can I still get it fixed by Apple? Should I get it fixed by Apple or get a third party to look into it?
Anyone else getting a hissing or crackling noise during phone calls? It happens in doors, outdoors, and is independent of hand position. Sounds like electrical noise. This is my second brand new 4S to do it. Any solutions besides hard and soft resets or restores? Tried that already.
I have been reading forums all evening and spent 30 mins on the phone to my service provider . In the end I found no answers from them so a trial and error session sorted it . After several resets of everything including all data and network I called service provider to report I had full 3G on my ipad3 and could not access the Internet . It worked fine last week and today on wifi . No software/hardware changes since . The lady on the phone asked me to do the same usual things , on/off , reset , backup refresh , hard reset Blah blah blah , none of this worked ?? She could not help further after our 30 minute conversation , pretty bad service considering I'm a paying customer , subscribing to a data contract whilst on wifi . I decided to check the carrier settings , I turned off the seek carrier option and chose vodafone uk on the list , then went to the carrier info , was showing 9.1 or something , I clicked this connected back to wifi and an option to upgrade carrier settings popped up , I updated the driver release , turned off wifi and the 3G came on . No need to backup / reset / delete anything . Please try this if your having the same issue . I know many are as I have been reading a lot of the same .
I have apple iPhone 4S upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 and everything was working fine suddenly my Wifi was not connecting and found the wifi on/off button is greyed out and to enable it I tried all resets but still my problem have not solved, still wifi is offiPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1
I purchased a 5 yesterday and rebuilt with icloud. The phone seemed to be functioning fine with all my content from my 4, but now ‘No SIM’ keeps popping up. Turning it off and on resets it. Did something go wrong with the rebuild, do I have to take it to the genius bar? Trying to avoid that, help! Many thanks.
iPhone 5 battery’s life issue was improved significantly To all who are experiencing the battery unexplained drainage on the new iPhone 5. I had this issue as well when I first got my new iPhone 5, but seems to be doing much better now after a couple of resets to all settings (Settings, General, Reset, Reset All Settings). I truly believe that it is just a glitch somewhere in the OS which gives a false reading on the battery. I also let the battery died completely and recharged it to 100% a couple of times, and that probably reset the battery gauge. I now have been using my phone from 8am -11pm with no problems at all. Before I did this, I had to charge my phone 2 to 3 times per day just for normal usage. Every time I let it died completely and recharged it to 100%, it just got better. (see screenshot for yesterday’s usage) It was crazy that this issue with the battery only happened with one of my two new iPhones 5.I am now getting about the same amount of battery life that I used to get from my iPhone 4. I am using the battery until my phone dies everyday just to see if that will reset the battery gauge even more. So far I think it is getting better, and it is actually doing better than the one phone I thought had no issues.
The shutter on my iphone 4 will not open, I've tried all the resets and playing around with settings but it will not work I think it's a software glitch. What it looks like when I open my camera app is a closed shutter and the camera/video slider flashing very fast. I can still click the photo thumbnail in the bottom left corner of the camera app and go to my camera roll and that's it. The camera works fine with other apps that use it. I called apple and since my phone is out of warranty they won't help me. I thought maybe if I clicked restore in itunes it would fix it but I'm not sure if it will erase all my data. How can I make it work again? right now I'm fine with ios4 but I might upgrade later on will upgrading maybe fix it? finally, how can I make a copy of all my stuff in a seperate folder? I want ALL my music, photos, videos, notes etc. in a folder that isn't itunes because I really don't trust it and I've heard enough horror stories of things getting wiped clean to know I should make a hard/original backup.
Ever since I upgraded to iOS 6.0.2 I've been experiencing some serious WiFi issues. Although my upload speed has remained basically the same, my latency and download speeds have been terrible. I believe that it has something to do with either hardware or software on the iPhone 5. I have tested with other computers in the house, and the WiFi remains the same as it always has, so I'm pretty sure its got something to do with the iPhone. Here's some information:• iPhone 5 32GB black on Verizon running iOS 6.0.2• Cox High Speed Internet Preferred Package• Basic motorola Surfboard Modem• Netgear WNDR3400 gaming router**Ask if you need anymore information** Just to give you an idea as to how bad it is, I usually get a ping of about 60ms, 14 Mbps download, and 4 Mbps upload. Now, I'm getting about 200ms ping, .50 Mbps download, and about 3 Mbps upload. Things I have done to combat the situation:• Reset Network Settings on iPhone• Power cycle router• Cold reset on iPhone• Tried holding it differently... LOL I'm not brave enough to completely wipe the iPhone and start over. I don't have the time to set it up all over again! Any suggestions would be helpful! If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask away.
So I bought my iPhone 5 brand new sealed in a box. Opened it up, put in my new Tesco nano Sim and everything is working absolutely fine...for about 3 days. 2 days ago I get off the tube and I notice my phone has 3G (which works), says my carrier (Tesco) but shows no signal bars, just 5 horizontal lines. I call up Tesco and they have no idea... I take matters into my own hands and take my sim out and put it in my friends iPhone 5 - it works, full service and 3G. However, his sim goes into mine with the same problem...insinuating its my phone with the issue!I've tried, hard resets, airplane mode switching, network settings reset, resetting everything. Nothing works. Anyone have any clues? I'm absolutely stumped. It worked perfectly for about 3 days and then decided to stop working...and is definitely my phone, not the sim. I can use 3G, just no signal so I can't make or receive calls or texts Any ideas?CheersMatt
I have a 64g iPhone 4s with updated os on ATT which was running perfectly until yesterday when i noticed no sound coming from the phone. no clicks, tones, rings, music. i was able to figure out that the phone thinks it is connected to a dock. Everything works well in my car through bluetooth, but otherwise no sound. I tried several soft resets with no improvement. For no apparent reason, it worked briefly this morning, but the battery was at about 10% and the phone shut off and when it restarted, i have had the same problem again. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm sure the recommendation will be to do a full restore, but I was wondering if there were any other possibilities and what do I do if the full restore doesn't work?
I got an iphone 5 black/slate 16gb this past saturday like 11/24/12 or something and my signal is terribe even though I live about 20 minutes from San Francisco even though thats a huge LTE market I never get more then 2 bars of LTE and the frustrating things is when I get 3G the internet does not work AT ALL and over half the time I have the little circle indicating no service. I have tried to fix the problem i.e network resets factory resets and software updates and none of it has helped. Can someone please help me resolve the problem? I'm ready to return my iphone 5. Please tell me if you have any solutions! This problem is so aggrivating!
When the iPhone5 was introducted, I pre-ordered an iPhone5 64GB Black for Verizon Wireless. I waited almost 3 weeks and spent $850+ since I was not upgrade eligible. I opened the box only to find several scratches on the black finish, I was quite disappointed. I called customer service and was advised that I could return the phone to a Verizon Wireless store. They gave me a credit to off set the $35 restocking fee. I waited a few days, and ordered another iPhone5 64GB Black for Verizon Wireless, spent the previous $850+, waited 2 additional weeks only to receive a iPhone5 that was more cosmetically damaged than the first. I went to the Verizon Wireless store in Brandon, FL to return it. They allowed me to return it, but would not waive the $35 restocking fee. I made a point of why would I have to pay a restocking fee when the item is defective. The option they offered was to send the iPhone back and await a new one, while they hold on to my $850+. I was not agreeable that the offer, returned the phone and paid the $35. Last Friday 11/16/12, I went into the Verizon Wireless store in Brandon, FL and requested to purchase a iPhone5 64GB White. They indicated they had 3 in stock. I indicated I would like to purchase the phone for full retail ($850+), again since I was not upgrade eligible. After the store manager provided some strong commentary (indicating I had returned 2 iPhone5's previously, and they don't like to sell the iPhone5 for full retail) and about 30 minutes waiting for him to review my account, I walked out with the iPhone5 64GB White. It has been in the original plastic covers plus a Sena case leather pouch since it came out of the box. It has a large dent in the aluminum banding. Again, another defective iPhone5. I earlier today, read online that the Sr. VP of Apple indicated this is "normal". If this is true, I am very disappointed in Apple. I own an Mac Pro, Macbook Pro 17, Macbook Air 13", iPod classic and have been satisified with Apple products including build quality, fit and finish. The iPhone5, however, is very much unsatisfactory in build quality. Verizon Wireless advised me that if you return multiple iPhone5's regardless of defect, they will flag your account and refuse to sell you another iPhone5. How can a company like Apple tell me what I can buy and not buy, and tell me I have to live with defective, poor quality devices ? The main reason I want an iPhone5 is for the LTE (4g) network access, but I am not going to spend $850+ and live with scratches and dents out of the box. It is one thing that if I drop it, scratch, or dent it. I am going to go back to my iPhone 4S 64GB Black which is in excellent condition and other than the LTE (4g) access, is just fine. I am really disappointed in Apple for the poor build quality/fit & finish, especailly when in the introduction video they talked about the high quality and close tolerances within the process. I am also unhappy about Apple telling me when, where, and how many iPhone5's I can buy. I guess to avoid getting my Verizon account flagged, I will see the iPhone5 online and hopefully someone will be OK with the ding on the band before any additional blemishes appear or happen. My next LTE (4g) phone may have to be a motorola device. Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
After I updated my phone to IOS 6, it worked fine. But once I updated to IOS 6.0.1, my camera will no longer work. Sometimes it freezes my phone, and my phone goes through 2 resets. Sometimes it just sits at the screen waiting for the shutter to open, and it just does nothing. Other times it acts like it is having a seizure, and then shuts off and brings me back to my home screen like the app just reset.
My iphone is cycling uncontrollably between teh apple screen and the passcode screen. Holding power button and home button for 10 seconds or more resets it temporarily but then the uncontrolled cycling begins again
Over the last couple of days the internal speaker of my iPhone 4 has stopped working – ie. I can't hear anything when on a call. If I switch to the speaker, everything is fine, switch back to normal, hold the phone to my ear and I get nothing. Music plays through earphones, and the external speaker, just nothing on the internal when on a call. Any fixes for this? I've tried soft and hard resets, syncing, I've got the latest iOS version... I'm in the UK – if I go to 02 where the phone was purchased will they replace it? Any help appreciated, thanks.
I just got the iphone5 today. I can't get the visual vm. I got the "primative" vm. I have read all the forums. I have treied hard and soft resets. I have tried all other things that I can find. Help!
My iPhone still resets itself randomly. I took it in to get it looked at and Apple said to replace the battery. So i paid the $80 to have it fixed and after all of that. It STILL resets itself.. What should i do?
I have an iPhone 5 (White, 64GB) that arrived with iOS 6 installed. I did not restore from a backup and set it up as a brand new device (so not to carry over anything from a previous version of iOS). After getting the prompt the other day I upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 and it installed successfully. Today I noticed that my upcoming appointments and reminders (in the next 24hrs of course) were not appearing on the lock screen. However, they do show up in Notification Centre. I made sure that all of my settings are correct in Settings>Notifications>Calendar as well as Settings>Notifications>Reminders... still nothing is showing up on the Lock Screen... they only appear on Notification Centre. This is not how the lock screen on iOS has ever functioned. I've now tried toggling all of the settings for the lock screen of both apps, soft and hard resets of the phone, toggling iCloud sync, etc. I have even placed a call to Apple and they're having the engineering dept. look in to it further. This is also happening on my iPad (3rd gen wifi) running iOS 6.0.1 so it's not just a bug related to my iPhone 5. Is anyone else having this problem??
Yesterday I plugged in my iPhone 5 32GB to charge and noticed the battery symbol turned to a 'plug' icon as opposed to a 'lightning bolt' icon. The phone was on 18%, so it should have been a lightning bolt. If I'm correct the plug icon should only appear when the phone is fully charged. Anyway, it stayed with the plug icon for a bit, refusing to charge up and after 10-15 minutes and trying a different wall socket the lightning bolt suddenly appeared. Sure enough it charged all the way up to 100%. Today is another story. I've been trying all day to charge and nothing will happen. Phone is now completely dead. When I plug it in the 'dead battery screen' appears (empty battery with a little bit of red in it, lightning bolt underneath) but it never actually charges up and turns on. Its been like that since this morning. Been into my local Vodafone store today, left it with them and tried another charger, no luck. Tried hard resets, no luck. Vodafone are sending me a replacement handset for Tuesday, although Saturday to Tuesday with absolutely no phone is going to cause a fair few problems. Apple can't offer me anything any faster - all London Apple Store Genius bar appointments are fully booked until 19th October(!). I've just managed to get it into recovery mode in iTunes and am trying a factory reset right now, but don't have high hopes. I've searched the web a lot and not found any similar stories to this one. I've more or less accepted that I'm going to have to wait until Tuesday now, but thought I'd post anyway to make sure people are aware of this particular series of events and in case anyone is also searching to answers for a phone with simlar symptoms. Any ideas are of course welcome, although I believe they've all been tried!
I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5. I have a motorola HX550 Bluetooth Headset which worked flawlessly with the iPhone 4s. However, since upgrading to the iPhone 5, I frequently lose audio when in the middle of a call. I am not certain whether it is a full disconnect or just an audio loss. The person on the other end reports still being able to hear me, however, I suppose they could hear me speaking over another source even if bluetooth disconnected. The loss of audio is always preceded by a quick shrill noise, so I can easily tell when it happens. All I have to do to fix the problem is to select Audio Source on the call screen, temporarily switch audio back to the iPhone, and then switch back to the headset, and then it starts working again. Is is important to note that I am not the only one experiencing this issue: This is a link to someone using the motorola H19txt headset experiencing the same issuehttps://forums.motorola.com/posts/94ac15ad7c If you go to the Plantronics website and look at the "Ratings and Reviews" on the Voyager Legend you will see the same issue reported: http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/voyager-legend (next paragraph is taken from the review since there is no direct link to the review. Really nice Headset unless you own an Iphone 5. I own several Plantronics headsets and have always loved the quality/ performance. This headset seems not to be compatible with the new Iphone 5. In the middle of a conversation it will lose all incoming audio. This leaves you trying to switch audio sources really fast in order not to lose your phone call. Ive tried 3 legend headsets and they all do the same thing. Hopefully this gets fixed soon because the headset is really nice Since this issue appears to affect multiple headsets from multiple vendors, I think it is fair to conclude that it is an issue with the iPhone5 bluetooth itself. I am posting this as a new discussion as I don't see any other posts specific to this iPhone 5 Bluetooth issue. I would have reported this as a problem to Apple, but don't seem to be able to find a way to do this on the web. Hopefully they are already aware, but if not, maybe they will see i here. If anyone else has experienced this issue, or has recommendations on how to prevent this from happening, I would appreciate your feedback / additions to this post.
I have had a few problems with my new AT&T iPhone 5 6gGB and I am continuing to experience abnormalties. 1. The first iphone 5 I owned had a very serious rattle, the apple store keyboard login problem, and data leakage. I had to keep it for a few weeks because they had no replacements at the time. So I was told. Employee who should not be named, dropped the box while I was watching and said it would be okay. This was not a loose battery rattle, but the Apple store employees breaking out in dance type of rattle when shaking my phone - seriously the used it as a Maracca. It was definately confirmed that it was not the battery, the camera lens suspended by magnets, or the power button. All issues were reproducible in the store. I went through 5Gb of data in 2 weeks with this phone. Thanks for the warnings AT&T, 2. Got a new phone, had the camera issue (purple haze - didn't bother me that much since I don't take photos while staring into the sun or in direct light), got no LTE/4G signal at all when I connected to wifi. Phone would say "no signal" and there were zero bars. This is a problem. Funny thing is, when I turned off wifi; it would temporarily give me full bars and then drop back off. I could not make calls during this time. Reset, restored the phone as new, and after having no luck, returned the phone to the Apple store. I got a replacment phone after the genius bar ran diagnostics and apparently found what I found. 2. Now with this being my 3rd Iphone 5. I have done a little more research into my issues. My iphone as well as everyone i've talked too have tried and tested a theory that the phone cannot connect to LTE while on a phone call. This was also given to me in blunt language by AT&T. I was told that I shouldn't expect the phone to stay connected to LTE while on a phone call because the network and phone will not allow it. I must be mistaken, because the first iPhone I had did not take an excess of 40 seconds to perform a search for www.google.com. It was connected to LTE while using Apple maps and I was talking on the phone. Irony I know. I sent them my speed test results and I was told 0.60 mbps was normal for 4g and there were no outages. It was a little low said the rep, but still within range. This was tested a few times, with AT&T having me reset connections, restore the phone, etc before I was told that this is normal for all phones on the network. It takes me more than 30 seconds to load a map across town on LTE if i'm on the phone. This is unacceptable in my opion. I bought the phone for its capability to multitask, not be neutered by some unknown changes. Below are my recent tests while testing this theory. The results really go from bottom to top. The 22.84 mbps down is while not on a call. All results up to the 10.13 mbps and 9.12. mpbs are after I got off the phone with AT&T and reset my network settings. It took 3 resets to get LTE to reconnect in which I got the awesome, but temporary 54.61 mbps down. My average results are normally 20-30 mpbs down and around 20 mpbs up (attached below). This is all while sitting stationary in a parking lot in between 3 AT&T antenna's. I checked because the rep originally told me that they had a tower down near me. If you look closely, I got 0 upload several times and this is just "googling" google. Attempted to connect a few times to the app store and got "app store not available" message. I'm not sure what AT&T/Apple has done but I didn't really have a problem loading maps while on the phone on my iphone 4. Nor on my first -broken iphone 5. It was actually a bragging point for a while. I'm saying Apple too because this could probably be fixed with a firmware update. The results really go from bottom to top. This is my average speed in North Atlanta, GA on LTE The other issue I noticed was the weight. Although it's still light, it just "felt" different. They gave me a replacement phone wrapped in paper or cardboard and I immediately felt something different about the phone. I asked the Apple store salesman if something was up or if they gave me a Verizon phone and he didn't know any difference. I know the various websites lists the stats at 3.95 oz, but I got something different. My phone weighs in at 3.81 oz. I tested 4 other iphones and they were all 3.7oz. All AT&T with ghost armor and clearcoat and got that same weight. I used stamps.com postal scale and a regular postal scale that was not usb with the same results. I weighed each 3 times and didn't breathe during the test (I'm not a scientist). What is different about my phone than theirs? My phone actually feels different, but I have no idea why. Do any of you? I noticed another issue when rubbing the phone along the bottom. Where cell antenna 2 meets the unibody, there is a obvious detent in the surface. If you ran your hand along this antenna it was obvious. Even more obvious when I went to get my phone clear- coated. I'm a little nervous about not having anything protecting the phone. This made the detent more obvious because the coating guys could not fill this spot. They immediately recommended I get it checked out before getting it coated, but I told them to do it anyway. I just got the 3rd phone what else could be wrong with it I asked myself. Images below. you can stick your fingernail in this separation Sorry for the picture quality. I had to use the iPad 2 to take the pictures. The other iphone has been erased. Another issue i've noticed is that the home button seems to get stuck and makes an very audible click/crack noise when it's been sitting for a while. Other iphones make a normal clicking noise - I've also tested this with several of my friends phones. Once you've hit the button about 10 times the sound goes away, but if you let it sit for a while (few hours) the sounds and force it takes to press the button returns. Are any of you experiencing the same problem? The other problem is the phone was given to me with a scratch. I was first snippy about people complaining about scratches, but once it is seen it can't be unseen. I noticed it, but initially thought it was some crap left over from the little package they gave the phone to me in. At this point, I was getting tired and only looked for very obvious differences as I tried to restore my contacts before leaving the store. I walked away from the Apple store directly to the clear-coat guys. The clear-coat guys are good at pointing out problems, but it was 8:50 PM and the mall closed at 9PM. I was not in a mood at this point. The issue isn't that I could take the phone back, but to see if anyone has the same issues. Scratches are not that bad, but they are in a spot where I can't cover them without a case. I also have some on the top right edge of the front of the phone. I have been and always have been very careful with my iPhones. My other iphone is still coated and in a case from day one. I haven't even had the chance to put this in a case yet, but I have had it coated which can not cover these scratches. I'm trying to avoid the case right now as I like how thin the phone is without it. I will probably take it back, but not going to be a happy camper. I have tried several fixes for the "soft" issues I have. I've reset, restored, reset again, set up as new iphone, etc. Nothing really helps the problem. A bug report has been filed- might need to file again. Has anyone experienced any of these issues and what solutions have you had in regards to them? I know there are normally bugs to work out on the first release of any product, but this is slightly exhausting.
Voicemail on my Verizon iPhone 5 is almost useless. Does anyone have the same problem OR has anyone solved this problem? Calls take so long to go to voice mail (Verizon says 40 seconds) that my callers hang up before getting to voice mail. And calls to my Google Voice number which rings my Verizon iPhone go to Google voicemail (after 25 seconds) before Verizon voicemail picks up so I don't get to use visual voicemail. We just switched to Verizon from AT&T (iPhone) and Sprint and we never had this problem before. Looking online it appears that AT&T and Sprint make it very easy for their customers to set the amount of rings (or time) that a call takes before going to voicemail. Verizon has given me conflicting information but no solution. They have said: 1. It is set to 40 seconds for everyon and you cannot change it.2. They can set it between 15 seconds and 40 seconds in 5 second increments3. They can set it to different times BUT it resets back to the default 40 seconds Help! How do I change the time it takes for Verizon to go to voicemail on my iPhone to 20 seconds or less?
Situation:- Factory unlocked iPhone 4s- I swap between Rogers and StraightTalk SIM chips as I cross the US/Canada border twice a week- I install the StraightTalk APN profile when plugging in the StraightTalk SIM- I remove the StraightTalk APN profile when plugging in the Rogers SIM This worked perfectly in iOS 5.1.1 Under iOS 6, this doesn't. Either direction. (Multiple attempts to confirm I wasn't going mad.) Only Resetting Network Settings is successful. (And doing so also resets iMessage settings, bahh!) Several things I've tried, all with no avail:- Turning it off and on again/rebooting- Actually installing a Roger APN profile- Airplane mode on/off Not fatal, but annoying.
Every since the last IOS update I keep getting this error. I tried several POC and phone resets and restarts. I tried removing the old backups and then reseting some more but I keep getting this error. "itunes could not back up the iphone "iphone" because an error occurred" I searched online and I cna't find any solutions that work. Is this Apples way of trying to force you to use iCloud or is there another way to restore my phone without using the restore function and losing my data? Thanks,
I was charging and and watching netflix from my phone a couple a days ago i set the phone down went down to get a drink came back to my phone searching for signal and then saying no service. since then i have called AT&T and have done all of the resets updated to ios 6 switch sim cards nothing has worked. any help?? Wifi works and the phone in general still works except not being able to call or text.
Hello, I Upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS6 pretty much from the moment it was released, at the beginning everything was working perfectly, until just a week ago i started experiencing ALL the issues that have been reprted so far... (As i read in other posts and around the web) first, i noticed my battery started draining extremely fast... 4 hours and my phone is dead and without doing anything with it... Also noticed phone is always warmer than it used to be... As its very busy doing something... THen, i started having problems with charging... It would not recognize at random times that my charger was plugged... Tried different things, cycling the power, hard reser ( holding power and home buttons together for 10 seconds) it wouldnt work at first, but after i did a hard reset and left the phone off for a minute or so, it worked again and i was able to charge... The problem that then arose was when the phone restarted i lost all my contacts and lost my email and calendars configurations! THen after awhile and after creating again my email accounts my contacts reappeared... Yesterday... suddenly all the sounds for my messages, facebook, email notifications stopped working... Again after several resets they came back... TOday... I just found out that siri wont recognize i have any app when i tell it to open them... IM still a great apple fan and i know and hope this will be addressed at some point... I hope its rather sooner than later... I would at least give me some comfort to know that other people are experienci g this as well and im not the only one with an isolated problem. Then i would know that it is definitely an IOS6 issue. Any comments?? THanks.
