iphone 3G frozen after recent OS update. Now stuck on restore

Today I updated my iphones OS (original OS - not jailbroken) and after having downloaded the new OS, itunes attempted to install the new OS onto my 3G iPhone. when the phone freezes, it has an apple logo and progress bar on the screen. It ALWAYS freezes at approximately 20% according to the phone screen. Itunes freezes at 50% when it is restoring iphone software.I have restarted my iphone over 3 times (by pressing and holding down both the power and the circle button) and the phone does restart but tells me to plug it into itunes. When I plug it into my computer and connect to itunes, itunes tells me i need to:check the iphone software update server to identify this deviceI click check and this works ok. However another error message pops up that says:iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used in itunes.I click ok and then press restore and it seem sto work except that it freezes again as i described above.Ive noticed other people are experiencing similar problems and wondered if they have found any solutions to this? Would really appreciate ANY help as at this state, my iphone is BRICK that doesnt work as either a phone, gaming console, or organiser.I am very disappointed with Apple for releasing an OS that in effect disables the core purpose of the iphone (a phone!!!) and now have lost confidence in their products. iphone 3G very unhappy custome

Speaker has almost stop working iPhone 3G

Has any of you guys lost the sound from the speaker mine has almost lost all the sound from the phone speaker. Hands free still works. So Im off to get a new phone. My 2 year warranty is almost over so it was a good investment.I did a complete restore, but the speaker has not come back. I must say the phone is a lot faster after the restore. Question about selling 3G iPhone 3G

So right now I have an opportunity to sell my 3G on ebay for over $150 (this is the selling price for many units that I am seeing).I was going to do this and then pay the difference for a new iphone 4.If I take the SIM card out, do I still need to do a factory reset? Should I do both to be safe, or is it fine to do one or the other? I want to make sure for privacy reasons (obviously) that when I sell it the phone is wiped completely clean. I also will not be selling it jailbroken, if that makes any difference.

Battery barely charges-iPhone 3G roughly 1.5yrs old

Ive had this phone for over a year and its battery life hasnt really been that bad up until a few months ago, when I started noticing that I had to charge it every day for it to last throughout the next day.Over the past week or two, Ive noticed a further decrease of life throughout the day. I originally attributed it to elongated usage, but that isnt the case as of the last month or so. With this decreased life, the phone also takes a very very long time to charge. When it is plugged into the USB port in my trucks stereo, it doesnt charge and actually goes down in percentage if being used (if Im using it as an iPod, even with the screen off). Yes, the battery icon does change to a charging lightning bolt icon whenever it is plugged in.The phone will charge very slowly when plugged into a USB 2.0 outlet, and a very small amount faster when plugged into the wall.What should I do? I have apple care on it for another 6 months or so I think...but does that cover battery replacement? Do they even have 3G phones anymore? Would I have to buy another phone? iPhone 3G iOS 4

How to fix iOS4 induced slowness on 3G iPhone 3G

Well, having tried Apple retail store, Apple online help, telephone support and getting stonewalled or denial or just no solution I realised the actual solution lays in the longer game. Even after leaving my email address and phone number on Apple Feedback sites I never had someone contact me to address my 3G issues personally. So the strategy I have now is as follows: I meet on average probably ten business people per day through my work, different people mostly. Inevitably there is an opportunity to talk about mobile phones etc, even if just over coffee break. I make it my point now to recount my 3G-iOS4-slowdown horror-story-and-no-admission-by-Apple story to as many as possible , but more than that - I ensure they get the clear picture that buying an Apple iPhone can be a BIG risk regarding the handset and after-sales customer service too, and that choosing another handset/OS (e.g Android) should be seriously considered for health and happiness (and business effectiveness if you rely on these devices). I figure a percentage will carry that message on to other conversations with other business people. Its a kind of viral marketing - designed to build a volume over time exponentially - a lobbying force or just a gradual force of consumer changed habit that will demonstrate to Apple that ignoring your previously loyal customers and going in denial about it only results in customers turning on you in force - which over time will be reflected in lower sales and of course more widespread bad reputation. Thats capitalism for you, but with the shoe on the other foot. I was Apples biggest fan but now I am compelled to continue this strategy until I get some truthful admission by them and solutions (without the obvious one which cynically I suspected from the start was their strategy - forcing 3G owners to move to the iPhone 4). Either that or if no help comes our way then to continue to market the counter-message and warning about Apple products and service. I am no mathematician if I meet two people person per day who each go on to tell two more people per day - how many is that in one 30 day month who carry the message? The clock is ticking. You can do this too - it the long run it places pressure on the company to change or at least respond. That may be better than hacking your 3G to try to get back to OS 3.1.3 etc as there will be no need for Apple to change their ways if you keep it to yourself like that. Think about it again. iPhone crash after trying to ugrade iTunes operating system

My girlfriend and I both have iPhone 3Gs. Last night she attempted to upgrade the software, which apparently prompted her to download the newest version of iTunes. After a couple of attempts, we finally got iTunes downloaded (presumably). The phone was plugged in and updating all night, but as of this morning will not operate because it requires iTunes 9.2 or greater. She has apparently tried to restore it to its previos OS just to get it to work to no avail. Any suggestions? Im no computer guru but my girlfriend can usually work through these issues. photo missing after restore iPhone 4

Yesterday I recieved my iphone 4. Then I backupped my iphone 3gs.After I restored that backup on iphone4.Everything went fine except some pics missing (last 2 months) in camera roll.The strange thing is that if I look for them in the places tab I can watch them.So the pics ARE in the phone but to watch them I have to use the places feature :-Does anybody experienced that? signal-noise while calling iPhone 4

Hi, I have the problem, that i can hear the signal noise between iPhone and transmitting pole (the noise that you can hear when you get to close to a loudspeaker with your mobile phone). I can hear the noise all the time when im doing a phone call. The guy at the support hotline was asking if this problem is already known and then he told me that this is normal für the iPhone 4 and he said that my hearing seems to be good, because i can hear the noise o.OI tested iPhone 4 and iPhone 3gs at the same time and in the 3gs there was nothing to hear.Does anybody else have this problem? iMac Mac OS X (10.5.8)

While making calls I hear buzz sound with turned off 3G. iPhone 4

I never had this with my 2G Blackberry Curve in the same areaI live in an area where 2G is stronger than 3G (I seem to get 1 more bar when I turn off 3G). However, once I do that I get a weird buzz sound (like there was a static interference). Its the same kind of sound you here from computer speakers when you place a phone near them. But I tested it away from potential interference sources. Once I turned on 3G, the voice was clean and there was no more buzz sound! I hear those sounds on low when I put to phone to my head. When use speakerphone I hear no static sounds. I had Blackberry Curve 8310 before with ATT that did calls on 2G only and had never this issue. I am using phone without case waiting for a free one in the mail, but I dont hold the bottom and it still does that. Should I take it to Apple Store and diagnose it? iPhone 4 falls into DFU mode all time

Hi!got my iPhone4 a little longer than a month. Since approx. two weeks it falls into DFU mode everytime i lock it and wait about 10-15 minutes to unlock it again. i cant tell the exact amount of time it takes to fall asleep - it may take longer when email arrives in the meantime...the problem doesnt appear then the phone is wired to a computer or jack. It is also hard to get out of this mode. sometimes it takes me 3 or 4 times pressing both buttons for 10 seconds to reactivate it.i tried to reinstall it (also without restoring from backup) several times - using two different macs. no change. Whatever - the phone did not drop or anything. except the described issue it is in top condition. is there anything else i could try? is this a known issue? or is my only chance to send it back to apple?thx in advanceT. iPhone4 iOS 4

3g problem powering on iPhone 3G

i went to use my phone and noticed it was powered off. i plugged it in to charge it after a failed attempt to power on. the apple symbol appeared as tho it were powering on then turned itself off, only to go back to the apple screen seconds later. this process repeats never getting past the apple screen. ive tried resetting it,checking for water damage, and several chargers and no change. iOS 4.1-will it work on 3G iPhone 3G

I see that a new software update is coming out soon - iOS4.1. Will this version actually work on the 3G, or will it make it even worse like the last update did? Since I got iOS 4, like many other people, my phone has turned into a nugget - I hate it. Is this newer update going to help rectify the issues, and make our iPhones as good as what they used to be? Or is this update also only going to suit 3Gs and iphone 4 users? Hi,I am in Nigeria. I bought my iphone from London and had it unlocked here in Nigeria. The problem is that i can't do anything that needs internet on my phone. I use a network called GLO and i even took the phone to their office to see if it could be configured to access the net. The steps they took was: Settings - general - network -then dead end! The complaint was that the cellular data options are only oFF/ON while in a 3G u have additional options like APN, USERNAME, PASWWORD etc fro the Cellular data option. HELP PLEASE!!!

I just bought a Mazda3 2010 two days ago and have been trying to import my whole contacts onto my cars bluetooth. iPhone apps

Its not exactly iPhones problem, its with the itunes. So here it is, Ive changed my country from US to Thailand because I moved back. Then I cant get my apps update on my itunes anymore, true that some can download by the phone but if the app is so big, itll take be like forever. It happened to be a problem with Thai store because when I tried to update, itd say no updates available, then I changed the country to the US. And it found everything that needed to update, but when I clicked it just said youre have to be in Thai store only to update. I was like what? What else can I do? Ive never had this problem before, its just a Thai stores problem. Please help, and suggest what can I do, where can I report to get this fix? Thanks.

iPhone 4 screen flicker on call screen

I am getting a screen flicker while on my call screen. It appears to happen anytime the data activity indicator goes off. Doesnt matter if I have Wi-Fi enabled or not. Screen brightness settings also have no effect. Doent matter if Im holding the phone or laying flat on the table. It seems as though the data activity can be forced to occur when switching from home screen to the call screen, so I made a video of doing that but it happens throughout my calls. I usually wear a headset so thats why I noticed it. Notice the flicker always seems to occur at/around the time of the data activity indicator going off. I havent seen the screen flicker on any other screens except the call screen. I havent noticed this on my wifes iPhone, will try the same thing on hers. Apps wont purchase from appstore Just freezes at Waiting iPhone 3G

I have an iPhone 3G that I just passed on to another family member after I upgraded to the 4. I was having no problems with it before the pass.After passing it on, I did a complete restore to wipe everything off.Once the new family member had it all set up, they quickly went off to the app store to get some new apps. They found one they wanted, bought it, and it took them back to their home screen and the term Waiting was written under the app. We were in good wifi area. The app literally sat at waiting for minutes.I suggested something might be wrong and turned off the phone. Upon returning it to power, the app quickly switched to loading, downloaded, and installed. No problem.However, downloading apps has continued to have this problem and has continued to require resets. Any suggestions? iPhone 3G iOS 4

Iphone 3G-lost its battery life and getting very hot

Looking for some feedback, recently I upgraded my software on my phone and since then Ive been getting about 2.5 hours of total battery life on a full charge. water damaged screen but still working iPhone 4

I got my iphone 4 water damaged. now i turned it off and left it buried in rice for a couple of days. the 2 water indicators are still white. my screen has liquid, specifically, coffee marks inside it. but the speakers are working, camera is working. the only problem im having is my home button is not working so great and my battery is just plain useless now. and whenever i try to sync my ipod(music, videos) it wont work. but i was able to sync my contacts and messages back.my question now is, would apple replace it under the warranty?or am i qualified for the OOW thing? since it is still working. im not sure if you have to have your phone completely dead due to water damage to be eligible. Iphone 4 replacement phones

I just purchased an iphone 4 32gb model on Wednesday, September 1st. That friday evening my iphone randomly started turning itself off and was very difficult to turn back on. It also started dropping every call I made after about 10 minutes into the conversation and then completely froze. I could not touch anything on the screen and had to constantly reset it. I went to the apple store today, Monday September 6, and they replaced it no problem. The replacement phone came out of a plain black box and had nothing else with it. I repeatedly asked the genius bar guy if it was refurbished and he told me no. The serial # starts with 5K, which I researched and many people said were refurbished. I dont feel that I should get a refurbished phone when mine was $300 and 5 days old. Im sure there is nothing wrong with refurbished phones but I dont want one when my phone was only 5 days old. Can anyone tell me what they think? I am not a very happy customer right now iphone 4 32gb iOS 4

voicemail password issue iPhone 3G

My phone shows a message Enter voicemail password with option to cancel regardless of what app the phone is running. I hit cancel, message goes away. The message randomly pops back up again randomly. Ive noticed the message pops back up when the phone crashes during running application, listening to music etc or even just pushing the home button. There has never been a password on my visual voicemail before. How do I get the message to stop popping up. I looked under settings for a Turn off password and still randomly appears again. iphone wiped out after update to 4.0 failed

I connected to itunes and was advised of update 4.0 (or something similar) so clicked on update. After some 20+ minutes I received a message saying update had failed. iPhone 4 Screen Replacement Cracked

Hi all,As you can tell by the direct subject line of my post, yes, my iPhone 4 screen is knackered.My phone slipped off of my office chair today when I put it down mid-text to read an email. Its about a whole foot off the ground, since I like to low-ride around at work. I picked it up, nonchalant, as you do if it has a small fall, looked at the screen and gasped. I never thought they were that fragile!Anyhoo, I was wondering how much it would cost for an iPhone 4 screen replacement in GBP from Apple.I phoned their automated system and the nice robotic girl was very helpful at not being very helpful at all. I never thought Id try and argue with The Terminators sister, but I did!Ive decided against insurance since most (if not all companies) are wanting about £100 upfront for any iPhone 4 claim + the monthly premiums. Plus trying to claw any sort of solace out of an insurance company usually takes about 6 months.Ive had a look at a couple of third party repairs companies and mobileease.co.uk seems like one of the best bets thus far, although I dont know if theyd use the fabled and genuine aluminosilicate glass. I cant seem to find the price for an Apple repair anywhere online. I was even quoted £60 for an iPhone screen via my service provider (Which I think was for a 3G/3GS). I think my iPhone 4 could of used a replacement screen anyways, as there were some major scratches around my screen and it was hard to use it in direct sunlight.Thanks in advance for reading my rant,Jamie. Iphone 4 wifi connects gets ip signal icon not showing cannot browse

Hi All, Since last friday I am not able to connect to my companys wifi, but Ive been doing that with no troubles since I got my phone.Basically I setup the hidden wlan, with wpa2 security, and Im able to connect, the iphone even reponds the ping request im sending the ip from my laptop.The odd thing is that the wireless signal icon (besides the carrier signal indicator) is no longer present and if I try to use safari I get the following message: Cellular Data is Turned Off (which is ok, Im not trying to use gprs/umts) - Cannot Open Page.Can anyone tell me what I should do? iphone has gone DEAD

Hi there, my iPhone switched itself off yesterday for no apparent reason! I took out the sim card & put it on a heater in case it had got damp - after about 30mins i put it back in & the phone came on but oly for 20mins or so. I cant switch it on since. Itunes 10 audio size increase while syncing iPhone 4

Im not sure whether this is an issue with itunes 10, or with my phone, but whenever I perform a sync, the amount of storage allocated to audio on the device momentarily increases for the duration of the sync operation. I have 12.9GB of audio on the phone, but during the sync operation, this increases to 14.6GB (shown via the coloured bar in itunes). As soon as the sync completes, it returns to its original value of 12.9GB. Is anyone else seeing this, or is it just my iphone? Windows 7 Iphone4 32GB

FaceTime after changing phone number iPhone 4

Hi there,I bought an iPhone 4 on launch day, used FaceTime and worked fine. However I have since changed my number with my mobile network, now people cannot FaceTime me.If I FaceTime them though it shows up with my old number and if they then try to FaceTime my old number it works! Very confusing I know.Is there a way I can get this so it knows to FaceTime my new number?Thanks iPhone 4 iOS 4

ghost data iPhone 4

when i go to bed for 8 hours my phone is drainign 4 percent and is showing that it has 4 to 6 minutes usage and that it send 20 to 30 kb of data, the thing is tho i have no email acounts or notifications or wifi. im not getting texts or anything or even using the phone at all.i made sure to not have my phone send apple data thru that pop up on itunes so im stumped. why and what data is my phone sending? it seems like its making my standby time not as good as it should be with a draning battery.i have done tones of restores from new and even just intalled the new 4.1 gold master and still have this problem.it dont rememeber my phone doing this when i first got it and apple seems to think its not a problem.shouldnt the iphone not send anydata if i set it not to? selling and erasing iPhone 3G

Selling my 3G. I read here on the forums that one should erase all information on the phone by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. I did this. Now the phone shows the usb cable and pointing to the itunes icon. Should I sell it like this or do I need to hook it up to itunes? What then? desktop G5 2.3 GHZ, blk macbook, 15" macbook pro, iphone 4 Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Cannot receive call or txt messages iPhone

HiI have just brought a new iphone 4, 2 days ago, i was on a prepaid account but got switched over to a plan my old number was going to get tranfered over but it hasnt happened so now i have got a new number but cannot receive calls or txt msgs. Everything else on the phone works. I have tried all the trouble shooting and none of these work. I have spoken to my apple dealer and no one has a clue!! Wondering if anyone else has had these problems and what you did to fix them? Thanks - iOS 4 -

New today iphone 4 not seen by my computer

My sons 4 is seen by the computer and works just fine so Im pretty confident its not a computer issue. I purchased a new iphone 4 today and the computer will not even see the phone, no charging, nothing, zip.Any suggestions? Go back to the apple store?? Simple re-set of the phone?Lost confused and ******.... 4.0 iOS 4

This battery just draaaains iPhone 4

Hey didnt use my phone for a good hour then I pick up a few txt n keep locking my phone off n on n my battery just goooooes . Had phone since 3G .. My brightness is pretty low , logged out if facebook. Please how can I save this battery?!? ... Cooool. Iphod touch ha everything we have except calling n txt ?? .. Hm.. Custom Its a Beast.
