How to use iMessage for specific contacts iphone 5

I'm thinking this is impossible, but I thought I'd post and see if I could get an answer. I am running short on data and have unlimited texts and therefore I turned iMessage off because I don't have access to WiFi anywhere. But I found out that it's the only way that I can contact some friends that are out of the country. Is there a way that I can enable iMessage only for those people and leave it disabled for everyone else? I've looked through the forums and searched for the answer, but I can't even find someone who has the same problem as me. Any help would be appreciated.

My sister and myself are getting each others text messages. Help Hard Question iphone

This whole problem started when I first got my iphone 5 around christmas time of last year. And i did the normal activation of my new iphone and syncing my old iphone 4 with this new phone. I synced everything and it was all good, but i started to get these random text from people in my message log. I soon found out that i was recieving every text that was sent to my sister. And if i replied to someone who was texting my sister it would show up like she texted them, not me on a seperate number. Also when i text my sister she would get the text but immidiatly after i sent her it, i would also get a text from myself saying what i sent her. I will literally get a text message from my own number to myself, (Weird ****). So its like my sisters text messaging is fused with mine. Its only messages though, no images or anything else. In the beginging i didnt care about this becasue she wasnt recieving my text i was only getting hers. But now just today she tells me she is getting my text too. And thats a problem! This problem lasted all the way up to about 2 months ago and then i stopped getting her messages. But i gave one of my friends my old iphone 4 and once they activated it for there own use it started to happen again. They use a seperate plan then i do and there number on the phone is different. Before i gave them the phone i wiped everything off of it. i took off the contacts, messages, everything. They use a different apple account and icloud account now on the phone. So idk why it started up again i need help. Here is some background. My whole family shares the same apple account with everything. We have seperate phones, numbers and data for the most part. But with dealing with Icloud and itunes anything like that, we use the same account. My sister uses a iphone 4s btw. With my old iphone 4 i had no probelms with this, everything was normal. But once i switched to the new iphone 5 this problem has occured. Idk what this is about, i havent heard anyone else with this problem, but i need help! btw my other family members on their phones do not have this problem. So i think it has to do something with the icloud but im not sure! This is a serious problem and i need help! Goodluck!

I want to start over iphone

So I got my iphone 5 around Christmas time, and I feel as though I need to start fresh. I want everything to be as good as new. I am absolutely getting frusturated with iCloud right about now. I already put all my pictures on my computer (not connected to iCloud), and my contacts are in a vCard folder on my desktop. I don't have music on my iphone, and my apps I'd like to keep. How do I back up my iphone to ONLY my computer... When I tried deleting my iCloud account, it deleted everything (including the contacts that I backed up to ONLY my computer). Long story short... I hate iCloudI want my phone good as newI want my appsI want my contactsI want my text messages if possible.I don't mind resigning into all my email accounts and app accounts. When I do have my iphone good as new as when I got it, then I will later on ask a question on how iCloud specifically works... with such a tight schedule like mine, it is hard to go to the genius bar and ask all of these questions... iTunes 11 deleted recent contacts and photos iphone 5

I recently got an iphone 5. Downloaded iTunes 11 and tried to sync my new phone. Once done I looked at my phone to find that all new contacts since October 2012 had been deleted along with any texts I had received and all the photos I had taken on my new phone. Instead I now have all my old photos and apps from my old phone. But nothing newer than October 2012. How can I get the new stuff back on my phone?

Character count not work for all contacts anymore. iphone

I have an iphone 4 running 6.1.3 with character count enabled and on the Sprint network. Recently character count stopped working when texting at least one of my contacts that i know for sure. I haven't gone through to see how many other contacts have the same issue, but i know it still works for some other contacts. Why would character count show for some of my contacts but not others? And what would cause it to stop working when it showed the number of characters before?I have found the problem exists regardless of if it's an SMS text or iMessage. And there is only one contact at a time that is the recipient; it is not an MMS. Is it possible that there actually is more than one recipient that i'm not aware of or is there another reason why character count would stop working only for certain contacts all of a sudden?

iphone 5 Battery drain when not using Wifi also gets hot.

Recently I have been experiencing problems with my iphone 5, if I am away from a wifi connection I experience high battery drain & the phone will sometimes get hot.Generally I am in the office or at home & the phone will be connected to a wifi hotspot, however yesterday I was out of the office in meetings etc, I didn’t have access to any wifi so used 3G data, I was in London in areas with generally good 3G coverage.  The battery went from 100% to 0% in 9 hours with what I would call minimal usage as follows.4 minutes worth of calls.25 received emails5 sent emails9 photos taken1 hour streaming music via Bluetooth20 minutes reading from news stand5 minutes in the facebook app5 minutes using the Maps app2 minutes viewing London Tube Map app  This appears to be a problem with the data receiving part of the phone as when I have access to wifi the battery life is generally fine.  I have had iPhones for about 3 years & never had issues like this. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Hello, this is my first time on a forum like this so I don't really know what to expect but basically the reason why I am here today is because of the fact that my iphone's battery is excuse my french, dog s***. I'm 16 years old almost 17 and I haven't had any problems with my other iphone's before (iphone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S) I charge it at 100% in the morning, so I leave it all night from 1% the previous night and then I get up and without even using it, it's at 95% already. Now the thing you're going to say is have you tried:  Turning off 3G/LTE - YESTurning off Wi-Fi - YESBluetooth - YESLocation Service's - YESPush Email - YESMessing with the brightness - YESRe-setting the phone several times (LOL) - YES  I honestly don't see why it is draining this much, I have like 10 apps and all of them are ones that don't send much data, nor recieve much. You know the usual Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc etc.  If someone could possibly help me I will be the happiest man alive!!! Thanks-Ed

I have been having trouble with my iphone - sudden decrease in battery life, apps not working, Wifi not working, iCloud not working (don't ask me why, but when I go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and back up, the toggle is off and greyed out, giving me no option to turn it on). I was advised to back the iphone up on my mac, reset the iphone to factory settings and then restore it from the Mac.  So, all my apps have come over, but none of my contacts, SMS's, nothing. I can probably live without the SMS's but it will take me a long time to re-enter all my contacts.  However, they are all still in the Mac.  But I can't work out how to get the Mac to send the addresses back to the iphone.   As previously stated, the iCloud doesn't work, so I can't use that.  I looked through previous entries and the advice was: Open iTunes. Connect the iphone. Select it under the Devices heading in the iTunes sidebar. Click on the Info tab in the main window. Check the contacts box then sync. However, when I do this it say in contacts "your contacts are being synched with your iphone over the air, over-the-air sync settings can be changed on the iphone" But I don't want them synched over the air, because over the air (I assume this is iCloud) isn't working.  How do I set it (either iTunes or the iphone) so that it synches, via USB cable, with the contacts on my Mac? I am totally, utterly confused and a bit cross as I am now worse off then before I reset the phone and was told that it would just back up from the computer.  And even more annoyed when I know the data I want is all still there (on the Mac in address book), I just can't drag it across.

My power button on my phone stopped working so before I went to the apple store today I backed up my phone to the computer (itunes) instead of icloud. Now I have my new phone plugged in and I hit restore from computer. It restored all of my texts, pictures, contacts, voicemails etc. Most of my apps restored except for like 10 recent ones which were all PAID for apps. Then a message popped up saying not enough icloud storage to finish restoring. I'm not even using icloud so what is the problem?? I also checked all my apps on itunes, none of the apps that dissapeared are on there either

In november my friend purchased me a black iphone 5.  It was awesome with No problems.  Recently however, I have been experiencing a very short battery life.  After a day of light usage sometimes my battery will dip below 5 percent.  Now, I already tried disableing bluetooth, turning off data and wifi when not being used, and even turned down the brightness to half way.  Because the iphone is certainly defected, when I exchange the iphone is there a possibility to swap it out with one of a different color, as the black one devolops scratches along the champhered edge like crazy, also ios 7 looks wayyyyyy better with the white iphone, it just blends into the device itself.  Anyways, thanks for any responses

Calendar will not sync with iphone 5

Using OSX 10.8.4 on a Mac mini late 2012 model, trying to sync Calender on mac to calender on my iphone 5 running ios 6.1.4 No matter how many youtube videos I watch or how many threads I read, my iphone calender will not sync with the calender on my mac. Any ideas?I have both my mac and iphone setup in icloud settings just as described in every video. Everything syncs just fine, from notes, contacts, reminders, photostream, it all works as expected except for calander. Please Help! Thanks,-Dean

Why would keyboard clicks be muted iphone

Recently my phone randomly seems to mute itself.  I am not sure if it is because of a bluetooth connection although I have turned bluetooth off.  Sometimes that seems to fix the problem but not always.

At home I have two Macs, one for work and another which acts as a sort of entertainment hub storing all my music, podcasts and videos as well as being for the family to use. Is it possible to sync my one iphone to both Macs, with the work one just syncing things like my contacts, emails, calendars and apps while the other Mac would sync just the podcasts and music to the iphone.Would this cause any problems and what is the correct way to go about this? Thanks for any help, tips and advice.

Lost all pictures. Please help iphone

I lost all my pictures from Africa on my phone. It was the first time I plugged my iphone into my laptop and iTunes was there. I did hit set up new phone but it said your phone has been restored for some reason. Lost all my contacts and photos as I didn't realize set up new phone meant it would do that. I thought it was just setting it up as a new file or whatever since it was new. Didn't know about iCloud at the time so no it wasn't turned on. Is there any way to get them back? Please help  The guy at apple store said to go do this and then if its on there from the date I lost them (6/2/2013 4pm) then the pictures should be there still. I just dont know how to see them or find out if they are still somewhere saved. They are not in my pictures folder or recycle bin.

My iphone 5 won't connect to new bluetooth or wifi connections

Okkay so ever since a few weeks ago my iphone 5 stopped connecting to new WIFI networks... I didn't really see it as a big deal until my friends were all connected to the same wifi and my iphone couldn't (Correct password and EVERYTHING).. and right now i'm at my dad's house and his iphone 5 is connected to the WIFI but mine isn't.. idk *** is going on but i'm starting to become ****** with apple.. I've seen hundreds of post on the internet about this and it seems like nothing is being done about it..?! DATA ISN'T UNLIMMITTED UNDER MY PLAN!!!!! I should NOT be responsible for this bill when I could be fine connected to wifi networks........ And now it's to the points where my device is having me relog into any social netowrks that i try logging into (Twitter.. Vine.. etc.).. WHY?!!? AND NOW I can't even connect to blue tooth devices that all my friends on iphone 4's are connected too... *** IS THE PROBLE AND WHY IS THERE NO ANSWER TO THIS?!?!?! I've searched countless hours on the internet for a fix to this but can't seem to find an answer... if anyone could help it'd be much appreciated..

Problem with contacts from Facebook on iphone

Hi there, something weird happened to me and I don't know how to fix this... Now I have about 300 Facebook friends and since the iOS update I have had my facebook friends appear in contacts and I merged the contact in my phone With the contact on Facebook so obv I have it all merged into one, with updated profile pic of fb and link to there facebook all into one neat and tidy  Well for some reason and out the ordinary it has just disappeared, all the fb contacts have gone, when I untick the iCloud box on contacts and just the Facebook box when I go into groups only like a handful of fb contacts are actually there....I've tried unchecking the box in preferences and uninstalling the fb app itself to get these all back and pressing update all contacts in settings too and even though I have like 300+ fb it just says updated 16 or something ridiculous.. Anyways really hope someone can help!  Cheers

I may have done a backup in the early days, & just regularly synced in more recent months. Bro doesn't mind me wiping clear his 3G, if that makes a difference. Email virus on iphone 5

I received a suspect email on my iphone 5 yesterday, which contained only a web link. I deleted it without accessing the link but despite this my phone sent out mails to everyone in my contacts this morning. I have had two returned as not delivered as they were picked up by the antivirus but assume all the others have reached their destination. Do I have a virus or has my mail been hacked? So, I have tried the following steps (found here and elsewhere on the web) to get my Facebook contacts out of my phone: Settings > Facebook > Allow these Apps to Use Your Account: Calendar and contacts to OFF (clicked "Update all contacts")Result: No change; all Facebook friends in contactsSettings > iCloud > contacts: set slider to OFFResult: Asked if I wanted to keep the contacts from iCloud on phone. iphone 4S IOs 6.1.3 broke wifi and bluetooth

I am just heading of to the O2 shop with wife's  phone. Symptoms. wifi on-off is greyed out. bluetooth spinner of doom permanently.  Reset from settings > doesn't work.Restore >likewiseRestore to Factory > doesn't workHard reset doesn't work My iphone 4 sits happily on 6.0 with no problems. I am not going anywhere near the upgrade that iTunes keeps nagging me about.

I have a 2010 VW Jetta and had been using the bluetooth phone with no issues (iphone is 4S and car bluetooth is built into the rear view mirror assembly and not the steering wheel). I've updated iOS 6.1.3 and now my phone no longer pairs with the car's bluetooth system). I've erased/forgot any bluetooth devices from the car's system but that doesn't seem to help. Any help/suggestions/etc on what I need to do to get a feature that worked just fine working again... ?  Since the only variable to my knowledge that has changed is the iphone operating system I tend to believe the issue is on Apple's end...

having bluetooth issues with Ford Sync in 2013 models iphone 5

My iphone 5 is losing connection with bluetooth in 2013 ford f-150 SYNC system.  It is then necessary to reset the truck radio and add phone again before bluetooth works.  It usually will work for a couple days before losing connectivity.  Ford dealership says it it is a bug in the phone ??

I had recently changed my password on my iphone 5, next time I went to open my phone it wouldn't except the password I thought I had changed it to. Now I'm locked out of my phone and it just says connect to itunes. I connected to my itunes but it won't let me access anything from the phone since its locked and I need my password. I have never personally backed up my phone. When purchasing the phone the lady told me since I have icloud it gets automatically backed up and I had also purchased extra later. way to go back to before you restored phone iphone 5

I bought a new phone and they transferred my contacts and pictures from my old phone to my new. But when I got I stupidly decided to restore my phone from the last time I backed my old phone up, which was a couple of months ago... and when I restored it, all my pictures from then until now were gone. So the question is there a way to like take back a restore or am I just SOL?

No ringing while connecting to number on an iphone 5 ATT but they can hear me and I can not hear them.

I have an iphone 5 with ATT and sometimes (very randomly) when making a call, it does not make a ringing sound (like it is not connecting), but it has connected and the other person can hear me but I can't hear them at all.  When I do try and say "hello" to see if they can hear me all I hear is my own voice echoing back.  Other times the phone conncts and rings immediately and I know then that the call is working. I actually got it to do this while on the phone on my landline with applecare. I did all of the resets with Apple and they determined it was a hardware problem and I received a new phone. It seemed to be ok, but three days after activating it, the same thing happened. There does not seem to be any common factor.  It happens with landlines, cell phones, inside, outside and it does not always do it to the same number twice.  It is a complete crap shoot. I have noticed that is it much more likely to happen if I go through "contacts" or "recents" to make the call. It has also happened a few times when using Siri to call. I never know until I don't hear the ringing sound that the call is messed up.  This is awful when trying to contact a business and you have to keep calling them back.  Anyone else? 

Facebook Contact Sync Problem iphone 3G

Hi, I never had the problem of syncing my Facebook contacts with my iphone 5 and iPad 2 but recently I turned off my Facebook contact sync on my iphone 5 at Settings>Facebook>contacts and turned it on later, and immediately I noticed only 41 out of 817 Facebook contacts were synced with my iphone and I lost all the merge with my existing phone contacts. I tried this on my brother's iphone 5 and hitted the same problem, he has 747 Facebook contacts synced to his device prior to turning off the sync, and after turning off the sync and turning it on later, only 75 out of 747 contacts were synced to his iphone 5. I did not dare to further try this on my iPad 2 as I scare it will screw up the contacts I linked on my iPad.  Looks like there is a problem with Facebook contact sync on iOS. Has anyone encountered this problem?

Is there a way to get better GPS-Signals to the iphone? bluetooth is an option, but it consumes a lot of power. So I prefer an external GPS-Antenna. But where do I connect the ext. antenna? Dock connector? If you are a developer and you've got an idea ... pls tell me ...
