Flaky lightning connector now battery deadflashing iPhone 4

I've had a flaky lightning connector on my iPhone 5 the past week or two, where the cord must be jiggled around to charge the phone properly, and it's continued to get worse.  Just confirmed with Apple that it'll be getting sent back for warranty work this week (it's a first batch iPhone from Sept. '12), so I need to back everything up and wipe the HD.  Last night I ran the battery down (bad idea) and it did something it's never done before - I got the flashing red battery symbol with the cord + lightning bolt.  Tried charging it via wall adapter and USB to my macbook, and of course, nothing changed, but I also am only guessing that it's charging because the connector is flaky.  After reading some posts of others' ideas on here, I left it plugged in overnight, hoping that it's been charging, and now it's completely dead and unresponsive.  When I jiggle the cord around I get no response.  Is there anything I can do?  Any hope of reviving it so I can wipe it out?  If I use my "find my iphone" app will it still work on a dead phone to wipe it out?

Receiving US number s imessages to international number iPhone

Hi all,  Haven't been able to find anything on this. I have an iPhone 4s which I had been using to iMessage over wifi with my friends while I'm in China (took out my Verizon sim card). I got an international (China Mobile) SIM card today after unlocking w/ verizon, etc. But now my old number is not "registered" with iMessage (I checked this in messages on my macbook) and changing my number in my phone isn't helping.  Is there a way that I can readd my US number so that when people iMessage my US phone number it goes to my iPhone which is now a different, international number?  My Apple ID still has my old number registered in it, but the Messages settings in my phone show the new international number without a means to add my old number. I'd rather use my US number over my Chinese phone number if theres a way that I can set it back to that number.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why no international warranty option for iPhone 5

Why is there not an option available to extend the iPhone warranty to an international warranty? Especially with a phone that you tend to take with you whenever you travel having to go to the country you bought it originally is a pain and sometimes not feasible. In my case : when I travelled from Hong Kong to a business trip in the Netherlands and then on to the US my iPhone 5 got stolen at the airport in Hong Kong. luckily I only had a prepaid SIM for Hong Kong in the iPhone so I went online and ordered a new simlock free  iPhone 5 at the Dutch online Apple store to be delivered in Amsterdam a few days later. So far, so good. I am currently in China and my iPhone 5 sleep button broke down. As I had to be in Hong Kong last week I thought I would stop by the Causeway Bay Apple Store after making a genius bar appointment. They checked the iPhone 5 and confirmed the sleep button was broken and it would be swapped for a new one. However on checking my serial number they told me I had to go back to The Netherlands to get it fixed.... So here is a problem, I am not planning on being there any time soon. Why is it not possible in the global economy we live in to get an international warranty?  I called Apple Care and they suggested I could try in an Apple store in North Carolina where I am due in a few weeks, but they could not guarantee they would swap the phone. Now the end of July  I am due in the UK and from what I read now an iPhone bought in any EU country could be swapped in another EU country. so that would mean I could swap it in London?  Very odd.  Always travel with my macbook Air and macbook Pro and these do have international warranty.

Belkin Dock damaged my iPhone 's charging port iPhone 5

I bought a Belkin Charge + Sync Dock for my iPhone 5 (the one that includes the cable) in February. It was a flimsy, crappy device from the start, but I figured I might as well use it.Four months have passed and now the lightning port on my iPhone 5 has started to deteriorate very quickly and noticibly. I would only charge my phone with the dock and I wouldn't use the lightning cable that came with my phone or any other cord for that matter. I went on a trip so I took my lightning cable with me and it would only charge at an odd angle. I also noticed the plug was very loose inside the port. This became true with the dock as well. The dock was flimsy and wobbly at the start and now would only charge at a very odd angle too. Any cord I use barely works, and my phone does not charge at night anymore. I know it is not a problem with my cords, because I tried my friend's cords and they also did not work. I know the dock ruined my port because that was the only thing I charged with for four months.Who should I go to for help? Should I call Belkin and ask for a return? Would my Apple 1-year limited warranty (I do not have AppleCare) cover a new phone?

I've recently enrolled into the IOS developement program, however my Imessage account has completely ceased to work. Now, it wont even work on my macbook Pro, i'm not sure how to fix this. is there any way?

iPhone won't turn back on

Hi, so last week my phone suddenly turnt off. An hour later I could turn it back on, but then the next day the exact same problem and I couldn't turn it on. About 20 hours later and 5 programs I had fixed it. Then now, its 'died' on me again.  Firstly, I have 100% battery. Connecting to my docking system turns it on but brings up the set up page (connect to iTunes on first use) It isn't recognised when plugged into the wall, I've used threee different wires and different wall adapters. iTunes can't restore it as half way through my phone cuts out and then iTunes can't find it. I don't touch my phone whilst connected so it's an internal issue there.  I have tried other progams and they don't recognise my iPhone either.  Could it be the battery? Should I replace it? Or could it just be loose? It's 2 years old, so yeah I need a new phone. But I currently can't afford to replace it, so I need as much help into getting this one working for now! Ha Ha Also, it's the iPhone 4 and it isn't water damaged.

Iphone 5 wifi drops every time I stream BT Home Hub router

Ok this is the second iPhone 5  I've had and I'm having the same issue as the one I've just replaced, the phone is dropping the wifi connection whenever anything is streaming, i.e. YouTube, NetFllix, Podcsts etc... Apple support said it may be my router but every other device in the house is fine, iPad 2, iPod Touch my wifes iPhone 4 and my macbook. My question is could it be an incopatability issue with my BT Home  Hub 2 router and iPhone 5? I've tried all of the troubleshooting suggested by apple support but the issue continues. I've also tried other possibilities from this and other forums and nothing seems to fix the issue. I'm opening a new thread because of the significance of the router which I think my be the problem but have no idea to be honest. I wished I'd kept my old iphone 4 it was solid and the battery life on this new phone is just shocking! Any help or ideas would be appreciated cheers

Iphone 5 has a slight ticking/rattling noise coming from the inside. I held the buttons down & shook it and the noise still existed, no it's not loose buttons. It's not real loud. whatever it is, is in the top section of the phone.

VNC from iphone to mac without wifi

Hello everyone, I'd like to know if it is possible to VNC from my iphone/ipad to my macbook without wifi? I use real VNC viewer to access my macbook (which has Real VNC Enterprise Server installed) using my iphone/ipad and it works well when I have Internet. However, I'd also like to be able to control my mac from my iphone in the same fashion when I do not have access to WIFI or wired Internet. I have scoured the net for answers and while there are plenty of links for controlling your iDevice from your Mac, there is seemingly nothing out there that shows you how to do the reverse in the absence of Wifi. I have read about SSH tunneling via a tethered USB connection but have not found any comprehensive instructions as to whether such a method would work to control my macbook with my iPhone/iPad. I was hoping there would be devices such as receivers plugged into the USB port that would allow this sort of interaction when no Internet is available but haven't come across any. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks.

I have a new macbook Air and am trying to add songs from it (iTunes 11.0.1) to iPhone4S. However, drag & drop does nothing, which is what I had done on my PC to add songs previously.     Note: I specifically don't want to sync my songs/libraries.  I just want to add the new stuff I uploaed to macbook Air iTunes to my iPhone4S. Any thoughts/help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I wanted to download pictures from phone to laptop and connected the devices together and it said i needed to upgrade to latest software... now its in recovery mode... would the back up happen without me knowing ? i dont want to loose 750 precious photos ..... anyone know any info ?

Where my .mddata file iPhone

Hey gang.  Having an issue.  Maybe someone can help me.  Did a backup of my son's iphone 8GB with iTunes.  I have read I can read the msgs with SMS and this program, MesaSQLite.  I cannot find the .mddata file on my macbook anywhere.  Says it should be in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup.  I don't have this directory.  Mine is ~Library/Application Support/Mobile Support.  But, nothing there. Any suggestions? Thanks, Hugh

I can t add music to my iphone 5 from mac air.

I recently purchased a macbook air and synced the iPhone 5 to it. It synced and all the music that was on my phone is now on my mac. However, when i download new music, it won't let me drag and drop or right click to press "add to". That option also doesn't appear, whether i purchased a song or not. The songs im trying to add aren't purchased from itunes and i downloaded them from a youtube converter. Everything is synced between the phone and mac but i can't figure out any other way to change it. I also have the newest version of itunes.

iPhone 4s will not connect to charger

My iPhone 4s will not connect to any charger I've tried in the last two days EXCEPT my Sony dock at home, but then only after 3 or 4 tries to get it to connect. I have multiple iPhone charging cables, and I've tried them all.  I've tried them plugged into the wall and my macbook. I can't get any of them to connect. At this point I can't even sync or backup to iTunes because the device is not recognized. Any suggestions? 

4S will not power off not hold charge . suggestions

Iphone 4s will not power down and does not hold a charge an enitre day.  Even with minimal use still will loose charge.This has gradually gotten worse since March. I have done numerous hard starts, done 2 restores to the phone and no improvement. I clear the home screen daily to every other day. If the phone is plugged into the computer, I can power it down but as soon as you unplug the phone or shut the computer off, the phone powers itself back on. When flying, this is really difficult since phone does not power off. Seems to be a common issue from google searches, so........ why wouldn't Apple addressed this?Anyone have any other suggestions to try or had this happen?Is this a fix on the supposed upgrade??

Bottom Left Of iPhone 5 Front Screen Feels loose

Hi Everybody!My brand new iphone 5 white has been out f the box for 4 hours. For some weird reason when I tap the bottom left of the screen (the bottom left beside the home button) it makes a weird ticking noise as if it is hollow behind it. I do not get this for any other corner on my device. My Dad suggested it was the ringer/vibrater and I think he is correct. Any confirmation would be great! Thanks in advanced, davo

iPhone 5 won't take charge

So a couple of weeks ago my iphone started acting up. *First the screen froze with the iCloud window open and it wouldn't respond. I couldn't text, call, or pretty much do anything. I fixed that by rebooting my phone by holding the home and power button for 12 seconds. Thanks to this community. **Then, the touch screen began to lag. I would try to unlock my phone or text, and the screen would take a couple of seconds before it would respond. Still does that but not as much. ***Next, the battery icon would not respond. I would plug it in to charge and it would show as charging, but the percentage number was not changing. It doesn't show if it would complete the full charge so I had to estimate the avarage time it used to take before it began to mess up. After I would unplug it, it would take a couple of hours to actually show the correct percentage of the battery. ****NOW - it won't charge at all. I am getting very frustrated and don't know how to fix this. I tried the wall charger, the car charger, my macbook, and even my iPad charger plug and none of them worked. It shows that it is plugged in just not charging. I took advantage of that and backed up my phone to my computer but now what do I do. It's not charging at all.  My next problem is that I can't take it to an Apple Store cause the closest one is 4 hours away so I have to take it to the AT&T store.  Is there anything else I can try before I take it to AT&T. Or what can I expect AT&T to do about it?  Luckily, I bought my iphone less than a year ago so that would mean it's under warranty, correct?  HELP!

iphone 5 display creaks down

Hello!I have a hardware problem with my iPhone. I haven't drop the phone, never had any problems before. Yesterday i detected: When I pinch the top right corner of my iPhone 5, the screen creaks down a bit making a annoying noise. I live in Russia. And my friends made me a present (They bought this iphone in LA Apple Store on Winter Holidays).The problem is that there is no Apple Stores or genius bars in Russia, but only Resellers.How can i solve this problem? Friend of mine had a replacement of macbook charger via Apple Support, they asked him to come to Russian Authorised Apple reseller and get new charger. But iPhone... Could Apple, for example, call to Authorised Reseller and ask to replace my iphone5 because of hardware issue or repair my device? I have one year limited Warranty from Apple and can't use it... it's a very sad... Facebook Push Notifications not working on iPhone 4S 6.1.3 and macbook Pro OS X 10.8.3

Hi there! There are troubles with Facebook Push notifications on my two iPhones 4 (iOS 6.1.2) and 4S (iOS6.1.3) and on my macbook Pro 15 (OS X 10.8.3). There are no any push notifications about new messages or "likes" by integrated Facebook App and by Facebook app prom iTunes too. I have notifications in notification center about statuss updates and comments, but sounds there are no at all. Everything in settings are switched on:-Settings/Facebook-Settings/Notifications/Facebook-Facebook/Account Settings/Notifications/Mobile Push I have done anything i can. Signed Out from all apps, deleted Facebook App, swithed off and then swithed on notifications, Signed In again and again. What can i do to solve this problem? I realy need notifications about messages on iOS and OS X.

So a nasty smash destroyed both Front & Back of my iPhone 4, and since having them replaced the Wifi signal has been really weak. I have seen other posts about screen replacement having to be done by going through the antenna, so something could be missing, or done incorrectly during the screen repair. Will definately be taking it back to the shop and finding out if It was put back together properly.  In the meantime I was wondering if it is possible to share my macbook Pro's Wifi (always full signal in my house) directly to my iPhone either using USB cable or through bluetooth. It's not been too much of a problem but it would be nice to use my iPhone in bedroom using the Macbooks good signal.  Note: The replacement front screen on iPhone has a small gap >1mm between the screen and centre metal casing on the left side just above the Silent/Loud Switch, which can be noticed by light leaking through the gap. The metal casing also still has a small dent between the volume down buttons and silent/loud switch, again nothing drastic 1mm maximum

Iphone 5 wont turn on after it died HELP

Not to charge iPhone beyond 100

I had a local repair store diagnose the sudden death of my iPhone 4 to continuous charging. As per the details I received, it is not advisable to leave the phone connected to the power supply longer than required to charge the battery 100%. The repair workshop has got the phone up and running after replacing an IC, as well as correcting a loose battery connector. Wonder if anyone else encountered the above. Best,wirefree

What happens when you follow all steps in this article but your 4s repeatedly gives you an error code 9 and you've changed cords AND computers and nothing working

My mom passed me her phone as she couldn't get it to restart.  I got it to charge and restart in recovery mode.  However, I've tried all steps on this and many other forums and it is stuck in "trying to restore".  On the phone, it will blink a white screen, show the apple logo and a progress bar then quickly disappear then on the computer give me error code 9.  I have tried 3 different cords, on both my macbook Air and my iMac.  Same results on both computers.  She purchased a new phone as she couldn't do without, but would love to fix this phone and give to one of my children.  This phone has not been jailbroken.  Any help would be sooooo appreciated!  Not sure what will happen if I try to take this to Apple.

universal equalizer I listen to music outside of itunes and want it equalized on my iphone .

Hi my iPhone won't sync with iTunes over wifi. When I plug if in with the USB cable it shows up then disappears in iTunes. It also sometimes won't charge. I have to keep plugging it and unplugging it until it charges. I thought it was the cable but that doesn't explain not syncing over wifi. VPN Fire App iPhone 3G

Hey all. I've downloaded the app VPN Fife to my iPhone 5 from a friends appartment, on their VPN. Works great. So, I want to sync to my macbook pro, thinking it would just transfer over via the sync. It won't, not sure it even sees in on my phone. How do I get this copied over to my iTunes on my laptop. I'd like to sync it to my iPad now too.

My only concern about updating my iOS or Carrier Settings is that I don't want to loose Google Maps until Apple has worked on their map app and fixed most of the bugs in it.  My daughter upgraded her iOS and we have taken trips together.  Google is not as "pretty" but is much, much more accurate and easier to use (IMHO).

Dying iPhone 5

I have been having multiple problems with my iphone 5 and ive only had it for 6 months. I have been restoring it to factory settings on a regular basis however it still has been having problems (more and more frequent.      #1 Teathering. I have been having trouble teathering off of my phone. (i tried several devices to rule my macbook out of the troubleshooting, nothing works) No device picks up my wifi or bluetooth personal hotspot. My macbook does not even recognize my USB connection in network settings.      #2 My wifi on the phone is also a hassle. It has been becoming more and more intermittant, but rarely works. I have tried multiple networks with the same result.      #3 My phone has become generally slow especially for safari and mail. On wifi, they dont work at all. on 3G, and LTE, the phone has also become very slow and often won't load at all. As stated above, restoring used do fix everything but that fix has become very short term, and often hasn't been working at all. Can someone help me?

Major iPhone 5 issues Help

I've had my iPhone since release date. Everything has been working great up until about a week ago. The phone has an amazing battery life, I guess an update fixed that for me. But now my iPhone will reset itself out of no where 3-4 times a day at random times. The keyboard will get stuck on the screen after entering something and clicking done. Also the iPhone will freeze (I've tried leaving it for as long as a half an hour) and be totally unresponsive. I usually have to use the sleep/wake button in combination with the home button just to reset the phone so it works. It also randomly drops and won't connect to my home wifi at all, I also have a iMac, macbook Pro, iPad mini, iPad 3, iPhone 3, 3GS, 4, 4S and all of these work flawless with zero problems on my wifi network. My warranty is out in September, but I'm worried about going to an apple genius and having them ask me to re create the problem. What if it doesn't happen at that time? What can I do?

I currently have an iphone 4S running IOS 6.1.3 software and to my annoyance I keep having the Apple ID login box appearing on my phone asking for my password.
