Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iPhone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iPhone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone. Now the problem is images. There is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file. In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space. Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found. She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iPhone are not here, where are they? Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again? Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received... The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iPhone and images previously uploaded from the laptop. Cheers Chipontheroad
My iPhone constantly says not enough storage available but I barely have anything on my phone and its 16 GB. I have only about 7 apps that i use, 200 photos, less than 100 contacts and my music is only about 3 GB. The other unavailable space is a mystery. And i ive deleted so much already.
I was promted to update a couple of apps. What can i do to get my programmes to install? They are stuck in "installing". There is plenty of space to download. Tried finding the apps to uninstall, both on my 4s and in iTunes. Cant find them.
I recently had my 4S replaced after my previous one had water damage. It was working fine at first but suddenly, whenever I take photos with my phone, they're not saving to my camera roll. I don't think it's a question memory space as I only have 1 photo on my camera roll.
I have almost 4 gigs of other space taken by stuff. how do i clear it
When I buy a song on my iTunes throught my iPhone 4 it shows its downloading then goes to finish and says: unable to download this song, could not be downloaded at this time then let's me either select retry or done, I click retry and it comes up with the same message, and this is every single song I try to download not a few ALL of them... Every week for the last month I have tried to get it to work and it won't, I even checked my usage on my phone and I still have 3G space
Hey everyone, so as an ongoing issue i have around 9.5gb of 'other' data on my 16gb iphone 5. i have restored my iphone from icloud and a pc backup. Set up as new iphone. and restored from back up. deleted every app and reinstalled them all. i have deleted music and reinstalled it. i went through the phone with iexplorer and tried to find the files and its just not happening. HAS ANYONE GOT A CLUE ON HOW TO GET RID OF THIS BUG?!
Following the most recent ios version update, my iPhone 5 completely crapped out and had that little usb symbol on the screen. I called Apple...they walked me through transferring all my almost 3000 photos/videos to my computer (obviously not able to do through iTunes/iCloud when my phone wasn't functioning). I asked if everything else (about 250 apps...no music) would be in the most recent cloud backup which was only a couple hours before the phone crapped out. They said yes. I did the restore and only about 30 of my 250ish apps restored! I never saw all my apps in my iTunes for some reason and all the apps that I can see in my iTunes have been restored. I wasn't at capacity for iCloud storage either because it happened a couple months ago and I bought more storage space. I've only been an iPhone user since Dec 2012 so PLEASE HELP if you can and let me know if there is anymore inof you need from me to help me troubleshoot. PS=I use a good 30-40 of those apps while I'm running experiential marketing campaigns in the field...one of which is a HUGE campaign I'm managing starting tomorrow. I'm toally FREAKING out right now with my apps not all restored even though the restore is complete. PLEASE HELP -super grateful in advance Julia
I do not so much have a question, but a statement: I did the upgrade to iOS 6 last night. I had to delete a lot of apps to make room for the upgrade and did a small icloud back up to save space. But, after waiting and seeing the upgrade time kept going up and up, I just went to bed. Woke up in the middle of the Night to check and my phone said to connect to iTunes. When I did, it told me I had to restore my phone. So I had no choice because, it would not leave the connect to iTunes message on my screen otherwise. This is a horrible glitch!
I've noticed that the "other" category of storage continues to grow but I haven't really downloaded anything lately. What is this and how do I get rid of it or prevent it from taking up so much storage space?
I have an Iphone 4 8gb and it seems that everytime I try to download an app/song or try to take a photo/video it is constantly telling me there's no more space left on my Iphone. The content of my iphone is: 1.40 GB's of music, 761.1 MB of photos, 779.6 MB of apps, and 3.39 GB's of other. I don't know how to get rid of the "other" part that takes up half my storage. If anyone has some helpful ways to get rid of the other storage without losing all my data (pics, music, apps, messages, etc) let me know!
So I went to sync my iphone 4s today and I noticed that "other" space was taking up 13 gb of my memory! i only have a 16 gb phone! what the heck. i cannot seem to figure out what is taking up all this space.. What takes up all this space and how do I free it up?? HELP! thanks!
I have been getting this error message for a while... it seems to be the only thing that helps is deleting all my photos and all my music and the bigger space sucking apps.... however what good is the phone if i have to delete everything i use in order to download something new.... What am i doing wrong? I dont want to keep deleteing all my music or pics just so i can buy one or two songs from itunes...
Iphone4 ,8gb How much space is available to the user
ok i've seen this brought up a lot on here so it's definitely happened to other people, where the 'other' bar that shows up on itunes when it shows what's taking up space on your phone takes up way too much space. my phone has 8GB of space (which is apparently only 6.34GB). my audio files are only taking up 2.66GB. i don't have any apps on my phone because i thought if i deleted them it might do something but it didn't, and i can't download any more. i can't use the camera at all. the other bar is taking up 3.66GB of space on my phone and i have no idea what to do. i've searched online for like 2 weeks trying to find a way to get rid of it but it's still there. i already tried restoring it and it didn't do anything. i tried the 'phone clean' thing and it didn't do anything. i saw this comment on a discussion on here that said to go into advanced settings under the safari settings and delete all the web history and i did that and i thought it fixed it but it didn't. i'm still looking up things that could work but i honestly have no idea what to try anymore. is there anything i can do to get rid of it ??
In Australia, how much would the gap cost to upgrade an iPhone 4S 16g with an iPhone 4S 32g? I really need more space, I didn't know that 1,000+ photos would take up this much room!
I saw the "other" on my phone creeping up and taking up 75% of the space on my phone. I did a factory restore thinking that would help but then when it restored it said it was over capacity and that was prior to it having any photos, apps, music--anything... the entire summary bar is "other" with no capacity. I am assuming the os6 update took the entire space of my phone Please help, this can't be true... is there anyway to get rid of the os update so I can have my smart phone back? as is all i have is a phone that can't do anything because there is no capacity. I have been apple since my first computer 19 years ago but the last year or so have tested my patience.... please tell me what I can do to get rid of the new os 6 update so I can have my phone back... extremely frustrated...cj
My touch screen works, but not the right side. why is this
How do I empty my start up disk as it is showing full?
while updating iOS its showing "The disk you are attempying is full" kindly suggest as still 28GB free space avialable in iphone 5 32 GB.
I recently did a factory reset and tried to restore from backup but it says there isn't enough space on my iphone to backup...but i just backed it up before i reset it...how does that even work? help please
I have an iPhone 4S, about a year now. Yesterday I downloaded a Facebook update and went to sleep. Wake up in morning and Facebook app is missing from phone. It was on my front page, next to a blank spot, and now there are two blank spots in the bottom right of my front page. Here is what I have tried: -Resetting phone (home+on/off button). Reset 3-4 times, nothing.-Reinstalling app. Looked up Facebook app in app store, and shows as being installed. So there is an "Open" button where there would be an "Install" button if I did not yet have the app. I click the "Open" button and it does nothing, like it's a dead button.-Searching for Facebook. On the iOs "Search iPhone" bubble (swipe right on home screen) I search for Facebook. Nothing shows up but contacts.-Synching on iTunes. App doesn't show up on list, tried a synch, reset phone, nothing worked. I have 111 apps installed across 7 pages (with a few blank spots scattered across). I do not and never had "Restrictions" enabled. I have not changed any other settings anytime recently. I have 4 gigs of free space on my phone. Any guidance here would be appreciated...thanks!
my iphone constantly tells me i have no more space on it even when i delete apps and pictures to clear up space. is it possible that the software updates are taking up all of my space on my phone?
HI, Firstly i have an Iphone 4S 16GB. I understand there has been many posts about this but i'm desperate for a direct answer as to why my "other" storage is at 5.20GB. I have gotten ridden of unwanted songs, apps and photos to free up space but yet i still have only 0.9GB free. I also have taken some advice to clear game data like scores etc, emails, messages, bookmarks, blah blah. yet nothing has changed. Even when i restore it fixes it but only for short period of time. Can someone please help me?
I added all my apps, photos, music etc on my 16gb iphone 5 and it comes to 4gbs yet i only have 1.1gbs of free space. Why?
I have an iPhone4s, and earlier I decided to reset my phone back to "square one" (factory settings) to clear up some space and get rid of unwanted apps/music/etc I had on my phone... Once I 'reset' my phone, it brought me to the initial, brand new, out-of-the-box stage of the iPhone. I was able to get past the first 2 'questions' (language & country) and then it gave me the option to activate via wi-fi or celluar service, I tried both (numerous, NUMEROUS times) and no matter what I do or where I go my phone will NOT activate. It's been going on 12 hours now, I need my phone back!! Thank you to anyone who can help!
I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!
Upon plugging my Iphone 4 into itunes, I have noticed a rather large amount of "other" space being taken up. 1.51GB to be exact. Wondering what this is and how to get rid of it. Thanks in advance, Zach
If I try delete app then they all shake as we know but cannot delete. The USB disk PRO app is blank when opened and no response. All other apps still work though. It was suggested that the app mentioned was a "jailbreak" well I don't know what that means but I am sure that is not applicable. I have Tried to 1. Reboot phone2. Reset app in settings as suggested by app developer3. Switching phone on and off. None of above work. The developer suggests that this is a problem for apple to resolve ?ThanksGauteng
After deleting more than half my pictures and 3/4's of all my apps it still will say I cannot take a picture or add an app. I have also deleted one of my two email accounts off the phone.nothing seems to work .... Any suggestions?
I have been having an issue with the memory on my iPhone. The "other" is filling up all of my space. I tried restoring but it hasn't fixed the problem so now I want to restore for a new phone but I am worried I will lose all of my contacts. If I have backed up my phone on my computer will my contacts be OK? Pleas help!!
I want to delete the stocks app, since I don't use it at all. And it only takes up memory space I dont use. Is there a way to delete it without jailbreaking? My iPhone is unlocked already.
My iPhone 4s camera wont work, either the shutter stays closed or its a black screen, but my face time works. This problem has occured ever since my lock button broke. I made an appointment with the genius bar, and after dealing with a rude employee, they told me it was due to lack of memory even after I tried to explain to them that my camera worked even when my memory was full. I deleted all of the videos and pictures off my phone and I have 7MB of empty space. My camera still did not work. I backed up and restored my phone on iTunes, this also did not work. I have restarted my phone and this didn't work either. Any suggestions as to what the issue may be?
Hallo guys I just bought a brand new iPhone 4 8GB and sadly i noticed just after I opened the box tha the right grill of the speaker is not completely flat like the left but itit bend inwards like it was poked with a needle Is it possible to have done some damage in inside or there is enough space between the speaker? Also I am covered from the warranty right? (The phone was sealed before I opened it)
My wife needed to make space on her Iphone because of the many videos she had on it. When she plugged the phone into our iMac, running 10.8.3, and connected to iPhoto to transfer the videos over the upload started as it normally does. However, during the middle of the transfer iTunes interupted and INFORMED my wife that the phone was now upgrading to the newest software version (6.1.3)being as we usually keep our phones up to date with upgrades anyways we didnt think much of it. Unfortunately during this process the software update failed and the phone crashed. We were left with two options "restore from backup" or "restore iPhone." We tried several times to restore from the backup and we received the same error message every time "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or incompatable with the Iphone that is being restored." I went into my library and checked out my backups folder and I saw that there were two new backups there for my Wife's phone. One time stamped at the exact time the phone crashed and one from the last time I tried to restore(after the phone crashed). We finally decided that there must have been a glich with the softwarre download, since it didn't complete, so we decided to "Restore Iphone" hoping that a corrected software would then allow us to restore from the backup properly. So the phone was wiped and reset with the new software, and we still cannot access the backup that we need. Though it is extremely frustrating that the videos of our toddler are gone, it is very important that we somehow find a way to access the information in the non corrupt backup files, her address and phone books as well as past text messages and calendars. I went to a site called iphonerecoveryonline and followed their protocol and I was able to see that all of the aboved mentioned information is still in those backups, but I have no way, with out paying these people $20 per file, to return that info to her phone. I would rather not have to pay to recover this info, but I guess that may be my only option? Any advice, experience or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.
I am running out of usage space. How do I increase the total amount of space I have on my iPhone4S: for things like programs & apps such as, iTunes & more music & like MusicTube & YouTube. The only reason I have any space now is because the music that I had downloaded and synced onto my phone from iTunes I had to take it all off. I would really really love to be able to put my music back onto my iPhone. Currently I'm using apps like Spotify, AOLradio, and MusicTube to listen to music. Thank you so very much in advance for any help that may be given!
My 16gb iPhone 4S keep tell me that my storage is almost full and I don't have enough space for any upgrades. I don't have any music or videos on my phone. I deleted all old emails, texts, contacts and apps but still nothing. When I check my settings, I noticed that my Instagram is at 732mb and it keeps rising. Now it's at 814mb. Please help!!!!!
Hey everyone, I have an iphone 4 and over the past few weeks it has just randomly been losing my contacts. I have them all backed up in my computer, but it is still annoying and worrisome. I don't have iCloud syncing turned on, nor does it happen after I have synced or anything. It will just happen in the middle of the day while it is sitting on my desk. I'll look over to answer a text or something and notice all my contacts gone and my texts and phone calls are just listed by numbers. It has only been happening recently. I have 1.6 GB of space left (of a 16 GB iphone 4) so I don't think it is a space issue, but what do I know? Could it be deleting my contacts because its out of room? I'm totally at a loss. Geez. Any help?
iPhone 4 running 6.1.2 fails with OTA 6.1.3 update. Downloads fine, passes verify, begains installation, but progress bar stops around 20%, phone reboots and then back to where started. Confirmed sufficient space on iPhone for update, tried reboot and closing all Apps prior to update, same problem. Was able to implement OTA update for iPhone 5 and iPad 4 without problem. Would appreciate any ideas; priorto trying update via iTunes, as seem to always have issues when updating with iTunes. ThanksKris
how do I get rid of the "other" on my iphone,it is taking up too much space
Hey,my iphone 4s battery has been switching itself off when the battery reaches 9%. it has been doing this for abouut two/three weeks, (of which time ive downloaded several apps, and have limited memory space left, dunno if that has any relation) but recently it has been dying at 11% and 17%. I've restored my iphone back to factory settings and restoring the back up but the problem still persists. Any feedback will be thankful for.
I have recently bought an iPhone and I want to transfer all my music from my itouch to my phone but most of my music came from an old computer that is gone now. Is there any way of doing this on windows, because I still have my itouch and all the music on it but I can't get it into my iTunes library to get it onto my phone?
I have a 16GB Iphone 4s. I use it for the regular things, music, texting, twitter, etc. I always manage the amount of storage I have on my phone by putting all the photots on my computer and deleting them off my phone. However I still have no space left due to "other" that takes up 9.6GB. What is "other" and how can I make that number go down?
I've deleted all my music 300 photos and all apps and it still exactly the same!!? About to smash my phone.
I just bought an iPhone5 but needed to change the SIM card for a new one. I insert the little pin into the hole, the tray pops out, but I can only pull it further for 2/3 millimeters... I believe the SIM is loose in its space inside the phone and doesn't let me to remove the tray. Is there anything I can do to solve this? I have no phone at the moment, for the SIM inside it is inactive and I need to replace it with the SIM I just got today.
I think part of the problem is my memory space had been exceeded. I own a 8 gb, but it had about 8.2 according to itunes. I was going to delete some pictures and videos after updating, but it never came back. Now it's just a screen with the usb pointing to itunes. I've tried:Holding the home button and power button for 10-15 secondsiRecoveryTinyUmbrellaRecBootCryingPleaing However, as soon as the "reboot" apple appears for a couple seconds, the recover screen comes back (usb->itunes). Can anyone help me? I have family pictures that I don't want to delete. -Sannie
It is taking up a large amount of space for me, forcing me to delete things so I can put music on. It takes up about 8.5GB and I would really like to figure out how to lower it, thank you.
When I go on iTunes, there are about 2 GB of apps, less than one of audio, about one for photos, and over 8 for the yellow bar, "other". What is this? I'm worried about it because I only have about 3 GB left on my phone. How do I fix it?
I'm almost out of space on my phone, and I only want certain music on it--not my entire iTunes library. I even bought iTunes Match so that the majority of my music could be in the cloud and I could still access it without it taking up unneeded space on my phone. Is there a way to delete specific songs, or artists, or albums, or whatever off of the iPhone 5 on the phone itself? I know you used to be able to just swipe your finger length-wise along a song and it would give you the option to delete the song (and you could do this with any section in the Music app e.g. artist, album, etc.). But I seem to be unable to do this anymore. And even then when I could delete individual selections, when I synced my phone to iTunes it would just redownload the music. I want to keep only certain songs on my phone in the Music app and only put others on if I specifically mean to do so. So basically, is there any way for me to do this? to keep only the bare necessities on my phone and not have others downloaded automatically? Thanks!
When talking storage on iphone 4s, I understand audio, video, photos, and apps. What is considered 'other'? And how can I reduce that number, what can I delete to create more space?
