AutoFill iphone 3G

The AutoFill feature has stopped working after a restore. 3G 3.01 firmware. The safari autofill setting is on. Also on is Use contact info and names and passwords. My info is my own contact. i lost my iphone 4months ago gave up all hope for its return.upon checking my sent email on my account via my laptop, i was surprised to discover 3 images two of a girl taking a photo of herself with MY iphone off her bedroom mirror and one of her dog all three images have the 'sent from my iphone' mess. at the bottom. the sender of the email is addressed to me i assume cause i'm still logged in on the iphone she must not know how to use it.. also the intended recipient email is posted in my email. Any suggestions as to confronting her via email or maybe help with tracking the phone with gmail some how? I have no tracking apps uploaded onto the iphone misplaced ... please help!!!!

iphone-No Service-PLEASE HELP 3G

Im a UK-based O2-registered iphone user. I have been in Australia for 3 weeks and my iphone has worked fine in all of the 5 major cities. Yesterday I spent the day in an area with no service. After returning to the city, my iphone still says no service in the top left corner. I have tried every fix suggested on the net - reboot iphone / disable 3G / direct reboot iphone / reset network settings / remove & re-insert sim - all to no avail. When I go to Settings > Carrier, the phone is able to detect all 3 Australian networks that my phone could connect to, but when I select any of them it tries to connect for approx 30 seconds and then displays Network lost - your selected cellular network is no longer available. You can choose a different network in settings. Does anyone have a suggestion? I would be massively grateful for any advice - I could not have lost the use of my phone at a worse time Macbookpro Mac OS X (10.5.8)

After computer crash SYNC iphone WITH iTUNES 3G

Hi,recently my computer crashed... to be more precise, the 2 hard disks crashed with all the informations and backups ( I use time machine ). I lost everything...But, in my iphone, I have a lot of files like, photos, music, apps and when I connect it to the computer and to itunes , the regular message saying that the iphone is connected to another iTunes library, appears, proposing to erase the iphone and sync it with the present iTunes library ( that is empty because I formatted the new disk ). The following is a copy of an email sent to tech support. Has anyone in the forums found a solution to this yet, or am I to regret installing fw 3.1.2?Just like folks in the forum are complaining, I too have a very irritating problem with this firmware. After some time of use, the phone will NOT transfer data. Items such as email, text messaging, and safari simply will not transfer any data. I click on any link to browse the web and it just sits there. It takes a restart of the phone to get it all working again. I am livid, and that is being kind. On the flip side, the sluggishness that I had with 3.0.1 is gone. The phone just behaves better. Much more responsive. The engineers are on the right track, but they keep derailing along the way.Im afraid the issue mentioned in this message is much more than I am willing to put up with. I will NOT restart my phone fifty times a day just to jeep it working. Somebody from Apple better come up with a way to make me real happy, real quick. Domonique, this is in your hands. Battery Drain Issue-Unexplained Usage iphone 3G

Not sure how to start this, but last week my phone was working fine, I use the internet and email for work quite often so usually get a day and a half on a full charge. Just this past weekend I traveled out of town and my phone was low so I charged it up to full and the next morning it was at 20% low battery. I hadnt used it for email, calling, texting or any app for that matter.I started checking into the problem browsing these forums and trying out different things I did a full reset holding down power button and square button until the apple logo came back up and recharged the phone. Started monitoring the usage and standby time after the full charge and saw no usage and the standby ticked away. Was at about 4 hours standby and still reading full charge so I jumped on the web to drain the battery a little just to make sure it wasnt bugged reading full even though it was depleted some and got it down to 95% and went to bed. Next morning 20% battery again checked the usage and it had close to 4 hours usage and 8 hours standby.So I thought possibly safari hadnt closed out and ran in the background all night so I did another hard reset and charged it up again. Now the standby time and usage time both run up even though Im not using the phone for anything but looking at the battery statistics. Does anyone have any idea why the usage time would still be going up when Im not doing anything on the phone? Im at the point where Im about to restore it and start from scratch but wanted to check before hand.Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the long post, not really sure the best way to explain it but thought Id give it a shot. iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.2

Stolen laptop, old iphone, new XP laptop, & now new 3GS

Ok, my wife got an iphone a couple of years ago and loves it. My daughter hooked it up with my wife's Sony Viao which subsequently was stolen. I bought her a new PC with Windows XP Pro but have yet to sync to it because I heard that she would lose everything when she plugged it in. I have never used ITunes and am monumentally unfamiliar with it. Now, to top it all off, I bought my wife a gift card for a new iphone 3GS (the white one, not sure if that matters). So, if some kind (and experienced) person will help. I would appreciate a step-by-step approach to how to proceed. I have ITunes installed, I have Outlook Express set-up, I just don't know how to get her photos, music, contacts, email, safari Bookmarks, apps, etc. onto the new computer and then onto the new phone. So, here we are, waiting to go to the Apple store but frozen in ignorance afraid that we are going to do the wrong thing. I tried to explain all this to the person at the Apple store but walked away with no clear idea what they were saying. Thanks in advance for any help. Frequently very slow to wake up iphone 3G

Hi,my 3G, very frequently is very slow to wakeup from sleep. I also observed, that its slow when I need to give the passcode to unlock it but, if I remove the passcode, it works as normal. Hi, I was using my iphone 3g at work today and lost all signal, then followed the No Service text. I now have a text box saying my phone cant make or receive calls and needs a restore using Itunes. Ive connected it to Itunes on my pc but its saying the phones SIM is not inserted or not connected and cannot be restored, ive never taken the SIM out since I received the phone. I have since removed the SIM and cleaned the port and retried and that hasnt worked, ive tried a new 02 SIM card and still no avail.I dont want to have to send the phone away for repairs as I have an important trip coming up and I really need the phone.Can anybody help? I too have network lost issues that are driving me mad. I can never make call when I want to. I hardly ever receive a phone call - it just goes directly to v-mail. I was under the impression that the new software release was meant to cure this - I have the lastest software release and I am still having problems. Bad quality and lack of response iphone 3G

After purchasing iphone & MacBook Pro, it frustrated my girlfriend and me. We already wrote a complaint letter to Apple Computer Limited twice. First time, they passed to their Asia Pacific centre for handling my complaint, but it didnt work out after 3 or 4 months telephone communication; then we send the second complaint letter to Apple at September, but until now, we are still awaiting their response. I bought iphone 3G at 3(HK) around Aug 2008, after few months problems came up, then we sent the first complaint letter to Apple. Then they requested me to take the phone to repairing centre in HK to exchange a new one. Actually, I exchanged it twice within 2 weeks, just because they got so many problems. Some of the problems are the battery quickly runs out without getting any call; data lost when the safari program froze for no reason; just can hear the phone ringing, cant pick up any call, need force to shut down the phone; the phone came overheat after using safari for few minutes; etc... Although those two complaint letters, we also told them the MacBook Pro got some problem, so we wanted their help, they just kept ignoring our request. The MacBook Pro is always overheating within 15 minutes and the battery runs out very quickly; the mouse control on the MacBook Pro itself has lost its functionality. Please help me follow this request and complaint ASAP and Im already too frustrated to deal with the Apple people and any dealing over the phone as it costs all parties therefore any contact to me should be in black and white to my email. As it has already been the second time that Ive purchased and used Apple laptop computer, Im concerned with the quality thereby I just want my money back for the MacBook Pro and extend my Iphones warranty as the contract with 3G(HK) does not cover. iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.2 MacBook Pro 15"

Music Gone On iTunes iphone 3G

So, Im very dependant on my iphone for music just as all of its other features, and I have a pretty collective library of around 700 songs stored on my iphone.All of these songs were being synced from my laptop/iTunes, but recently my hard drive crapped out. Microphone turning on for no apparent reason iphone 3G

I upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 to 3.1.2 all in a very short period of time, so this problem might be for people with those OS as well however Im currently using 3.1.2 and I am noticing that when Im on safari, or any app that happens to have a feature where you tap to enter information (such as the address bar/search feature), within about 3 seconds of taping and having the address bar/search feature/whatever come up, the clicking noise will happen (if it happens, since it doesnt always); when I put my ear to the microphone, it is obvious that the microphone is turning on (hence the soft clicking noise) and I can hear its static when my ear is up to it. I think this also might be happening at random other times as well, but its very obvious that it happens most often when I am surfing around on safari because I use it frequently and because if Im in a quite room often typing in a URL or search, the clicking noise can be a constant annoyance. I suppose it is also worth mentioning that I recently (for an unrelated matter) went into General, Rest, and Reset All Settings.Does anyone else have this problem, or have any suggestions? iphone OS 3.1.2

All contacts lost iphone 3G

I recently, about a week ago, upgraded my wifes iphone 3G to 3.1.2. Since the upgrade to 3.1 she complained about poor battery life and other weird behaviour. I then heard that 3.1.2 took care of these symptoms but she noticed yesterday that her phone list was showing only numbers, no names, then so too did her favourites which prompted her to check contact and this was empty.I recommended the hard reboot and despite doing this and simply shutting the phone down and restarting twice the contact list shows No Contacts and the phone list also only show numbers, no names with favourites.I do not simply want to sync again with the computer yet since she has added some new contacts and made some changes since that last sync and would like to recover them if at all possible. Does anyone know what the battery gauge is measuring? Does it calculate what the battery usage should have been based on usage or measure the actual physical battery power remaining?I have been surprised sometimes about how little or how much power it shows has been used. As an example, I can listen to the iPod for several hours with almost no usage reported and then exhaust it quickly with other functions (like safari). dell

I just tried connecting it to my logitech pure-fi express and I now get a warning that the accessory isnt built to support the iphone (it is) and the iphone is no longer charging from it (it should). iphone 3G running 3.1.2 still having intermittent loss of data services

My wifes 3G is randomly indicating that she has no internet connection, so she cant get data and/or send SMS messages. Even though shes in a spot at work where it used to always work fine.Her 3G has the latest 3.1.2 firmware and has gotten all of the updates from 2.0 to 2.1, all the way up to 3.1.2. I think people that have the earlier 3Gs and have gone through multiple updates seem to be having the most issues.Let me know if anyone know of some way (ANY WAY) to fix this. Again, she has a 3G running 3.1.2 and has applied updates from 2.0 on up to 3.1.2...with instability issues showing up first with 3.0.I personally have a 3G (just as old) and have gone through almost the same updates, BUT...I didnt update from 3.01 to 3.1. My 3G began getting squirley (safari crashing with muliple tabs open and general lag doing text entries...stuff like that) after I updated to 3.01 (or was it 3.0?), so I held off doing any more updates until the coast seemed clear to do one. Im glad I held off as the 3.1 updates made matters worse for my wife and many others. 3.1.2 still has issues. Im sure the phone hardware is fine, but installing multiple updates over each other seems to create instabilities. iMac Mac OS X (10.5.8) Two 3G owners frustrated at instablities....hate to jump to Droid but it may come to that.

Google Home Page Shows Up Blank iphone 3G

When I try to pull up the Google home page ( www.google.com ) on my 3G/16GB iphone, it comes up with a blank white screen. I stopped by an Apple store today, and a couple of the geniuses fiddled with it. They were mystified and suggested restoring the phone to original settings. After the reset, I still get the white screen with Google. If I search for Google in the search window of the upper right hand corner of safari, then a functional Google window comes up. Battery Life-Not happy customer iphone 3G

I recently have been noticing that my battery does not last quite as long it once used too. I cannot survive an entire day without having to plug my phone in somewhere. It all started with one of the 3.* updates. I plugged my phone in this morning after it died out on me during the night. (Plugged in around 7:30AM). I left my house without taking my phone, leaving it plugged into the charger. I came home and disconnected it (7:30). I didnt use my phone at all and I received a text message at 9:30PM (A little over an hour ago). I have been having a conversation with the same person over the last hour in the form of text messaging. My phone just vibrated saying its at 20%.. Something is not right! Another thing I noticed is I randomly lose service. Im sitting at my laptop next to a window, meaning there should be no reason I lose service. And this is just recently started happening. iphone is barebone, no apps are installed. (Again lost service, searching.....)Notifications are off, wifi is off, bluetooth is off, location services are off, brightness is on the lowest settingthere is one email account but it is setup as fetch, so that isnt the problem (AGAIN lost SERVICE!!!, then it jumps back to 5 bars, CLEAR SKIES!!!)help me please !!i rarely need to access the internet.. and i make a 2-3 phonecalls daily, and send/receive about 500 texts.Message was edited by: PiotrMir iphone OS 3.1.2

Smart Playlists Not Syncing Correct CONTENT on iphone 3G

Hi, I apologize about the length of this description, but I believe all or most of it may be relevant.I have been having trouble synchronizing ANY of my smart playlists. I first noticed it in the playlists I had created which entailed Most Recently Added or Most Recently Played options. Now I realize that all of my smart playlists are no longer syncing their play order (some too big to determine if songs arent making it into some of them). I had a collection of over 7000 songs on my external hard drive backed up, and kept about 4000 of them on my computer stored in iTunes (i.e. only the 4000 songs were present in my iTunes library, originating from my laptop hard drive--NOT EXTERNAL). Upon switching to Windows 7, I wanted to have ALL my music on my laptop hard drive and thus copied and re-added all of the music (all 7000). I lost all my track info (ratings, plays, last played date, date added, etc) in this process until I opened the iTunes library file with iTunes(had backed up from before new OS installation) and, voila, all my playlists and track info was restored. I had to do some cleaning up of duplicate files, but nothing major.I found this thread from Sept. 2008 which seemed to be in regards to the exact same problem under almost the exact same situation: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8066846#8066846. Unfortunately, its unanswered and archived. My iTunes did not crash, but I cleanly installed a new OS and had to start fresh.I cannot for the life of me figure this issue out. I thought about restoring my device and syncing it again (which I will try again tomorrow to see if I can manage any progress), but I want to retain my app info and text messages so I plan on restoring from a backup. Hey!Ive been Googling this issue for ages but still cant find anything that could fix my issue... hope someone can help me!I have an iphone 3G on Virgin Mobile Australia. Im 14 months into my 24 month contract and I booked a holiday back to UK (British citizen living in Australia as I married an Aussie girl) so I asked Virgin to unlock my phone so I could use a pre-pay SIM in the UK. They duly obliged and when I plugged my iphone into iTunes with a Vodafone UK SIM, the message came up Congratulations your iphone has been unlocked. The problem is that randomly with the new SIM, the iphone wants to be plugged back into iTunes to be unlocked again and again... its happened 18 times in the last seven days that Ive been in the UK. Whenever the battery gets too low, or when safari decides to crash, or even just without warning, that Itunes and cable screen appears with different SIM detected and I cant use the phone at all. This never happens with the Virgin AU SIM. Every time once iTunes is connected, the phone is back to being unlocked again.Any ideas? Its driving me insane!Cheers,Bill iphone 3G iphone OS 3.0.1

iphone firmware update 3.1.2 out Hows it working for you 3G

Whew relief at last! but your mileage may vary. I am very curious how well its working. I really hope comatose is a word we can quickly forget. I was at 3.1 last night and had hopefully my last coma ever. I put on 3.1.2 and it went very smoothly other than for some reason some of my apps lost their data. (i lost hundreds of entries from my Lose-it weight management program (AWESOME by the way; down almost 20# since July). Since putting on 3.1.2, however, phone not quite as responsive as yesterday on 3.1 (something i can deal with if it never goes coma again), but once in a while its a pretty long pause, like a 4 sec. pause in the middle of a tapping a word; again if its a trade-off to have the phone work 100% of the time i can cope with that. Anybody that does try the upgrade and has a problem, please go through the normal steps of putting on a clean install before going ballistic. Basically, i would recommend doing a backup, putting the phone into DFU BEFORE the first attempt of 3.1.2 (which i didnt do... could be related to the stutters im getting right now). I recommend this method:1. backup your phone manually (in case it doesnt ask) -> right-click on phone and pick backup2. Get your phone into DFU mode (search apple help or google; you-tube is has great guides)3. restore the phone while in DFU. In my experience, the phone is dark while DFU restore4. activate the phone and play around a bit; i use m.me so i can have my contacts back w/o sync5. if things are not going well, i would go back to step 2 and re-install6. test drive for at least a few hours before doing a 1-hr restore from backup (of your data). 7. come back here and give some feedback if its working (or not). So.. for me, the summary is: super-smooth restore to 3.1.2 but like a moron (dont take offense, its a term of endearment for a smart person that doesnt do something the best way by being hasty).. i did just a direct upgrade from iTunes w/o heeding my own advice and DFU the phone first.So.. i have had a couple instances of non response to things like hitting the home button, the sleep button, but ive had that since 3.0; it was why i upgraded to 3.1 in the first place. Im very curious about why my accidental install of 3.1 was so darn fast, and i want it back, so over the weekend ill do a DFU re-install of 3.1.2 if it doesnt clear up with a restart. No coma yet, but too soon to know if 3.1.2 is the reason. If you have a perfectly working phone at 3.0 or 3.01, i wouldnt bother upgrading, the only super cool thing youll be missing is the ability to sort your home pages icons in iTunes (super amazing; best part of 3.1 OS for sure). Just wait a week or three to see what others say first!Oh.. if you really want a clean install.. use a fresh user on your computer to do the update, then just dont bother syncing, and switch back to you before doing restore from backup. OH NO! After applying the 3.1.2 update to my iphone, Ive lost all my Notes. Poof. Gone. And this is CRITICAL! I had information in individual Notes that only existed in my iphone -- and I did that for a reason. I MUST GET THOSE NOTES BACK! OS 3.1 Upgrade Find My iphone 3G Failure

Hi,Has anyone noticed the same symptoms?Ive upgraded to OS 3.1 as soon as it was available, and within a day my iphone had the narcoleptic lapses into unresponsive comas. Frustrated with that, I never until today checked—and now the Find My iphone does not work. The web-site says that Location is not available. Your iphone is not connected to a data network, or does not have Push enabled. And, I still get a coma once in a few days...Hmmm... with four bars, and WiFi on (Im @home, 2 ft from my TimeCapsule & cable modem), safari downloads a complex page in a few seconds. But (and this may be a clue!), when I switch WiFi off, the iphone shows 4 (out of 5) bars and 3G - but safari times out server stopped responding. Now, if I disable 3G (in Settings>General>Network), it takes a minute or so for the iphone to realize this, but then safari downloads the web-page from the previously supposedly unresponsive server and the number of bars grows to 5.Sadly, however, this still does not make the Find My iphone feature work.Could it them be that these OS 3.1 iphone failures (the narcoleptic lapses into comas, Edge working where 3G data network wont...) are due to the OS 3.1 iPhones poor handling of network time-outs, which in turn are due to insufficient 3G network?Kind-of makes sense: with OS 3.1, a lot more Push traffic was supposed to be happening...Cheers, Tristan Intel(igent) MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.1)

iphone not recognized after Mac security update 3G

I have a Mac iBook G4 running OSX 10.4.11, and an iphone 3G running OS 3.0. Up to now they have worked fine together. The phone was charged on the iBook this morning. This afternoon I ran software update on the Mac which installed the latest security update (2009-05, I think). After that, the phone is not recognized when plugged in the USB port. It no longer charges, nor is it recognized by iTunes.I have checked the following to be sure that the security update is the culprit:The iphone with the same cable works fine on another Mac (running 10.5).Other devices (thumb drive, printer) work fine in the same USB ports.Finally, I restarted the iBook from the original installation CD for OSX 10.4. When running with the original version, the iphone is recognized correctly.So, I am reporting a problem with the security update, and I need to know how to back it off, or how to get it fixed.Thanks for any help.NOTE: Software update also installed iTunes 9.0.1 along with updates to Quicktime and safari. My friend has a iphone 3G and recently went to Greece for a short 1-week trip. She turned off her email accounts. On re-entering the US, she turned accounts back on. iphone asked if she wanted to keep Contacts, she said yes, then lost all new contacts/emails shed input while on her trip. Global Address Book-updating work field iphone

Hi All,I just had a question. In A/D there is a field in each windows account called Work which is a number. We just updated everyones phone number and input the new numbers in this field. In the Contacts on the iphone (we are using Exchange 2007 by the way) I have two groups, Contacts and Exchange Contacts, and I also have another thing called email@email.com global address list. Now, the update I put in A/D shows up when I search the Global address list at the bottom, but I want the updated to show up in the exchange contacts above so when a user calls my cell it will know who they are. 3G lost connection issue iphone

Im using a 16 GB 3G iphone running 3.1. The phone was new in July 2009 (after being replaced for a bad sleep button).The icon shows a strong 3G signal of 4-5 bars. However, I frequently have no connection. This began early September. The symptoms are as follows...Phone: Attempts at outbound calls do nothing (display shows calling, but it never rings). Incoming calls go directly to voicemail. Missed calls and voicemail do not display (no badge counts, and nothing updated in those views).Internet: No connection (safari, Mail, and internet apps do not work).Text: Outbound attempts stall, and eventually display a red ! icon. Tapping this icon displays a message, Your message was not sent...In addition, the battery indicator does not update (neither when charging nor discharging).The connection does NOT restore on its own (e.g., moving to areas of different signal strength). Ive tried toggling the airplane mode, but this does nothing. The only way Ive found to restore the connection is to restart the phone (via the red slider). Although this restores my connection, the problem reoccurs within a day or so. Ive also tried resetting by simultaneously holding the sleep and home buttons. (Push and Bluetooth are both off, by the way.)I took the phone to an Apple Genius bar, and they recommended resetting the factory settings (via iTunes), and then manually transferring all my data back (NOT restoring from by backup). I did this, but the problem continued, so Apple (very nicely) replaced the phone with a new one. Unfortunately, the problem continued, so its apparently not a hardware issue. They suggested the next step might be having AT&T replace the SIM card, although they really thought this was a long shot.A few days ago, I installed the app, System Activity Monitor to see if something was hanging, but processes and CPU usage do not show anything unusual. CPU usage floats around 4-7% (with System Monitor running as the top process). Storage has about 1.6 GB free, and runtime memory floats at around 11.5 MB free.This iphone has never been hacked in any way.Any insights? iMac (2.0 GHz G5, 1.5 GB RAM) and PowerBook (1.5 GHz G4, 512 MB RAM) Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Network Error iphone

Also having this same problem "Since 3.1 update, my phone has been disconnecting from the network. That means I cant send/recieve calls or texts, and cant get to the data network using safari or applications. When I try to send a text or email, it shows that it wasnt delivered. When trying to make a call, it says thats its calling, but the call never goes through. Incoming calls go to voicemail instead of ringing the phone. When starting an app, I receive the following message Network Error. Failed to connect. Please check that airplane mode is off. (It is). In safari I get safari can not open page. Server not responding" Is Apple going to fix!!!!!!
