Is there a was to sent a single text to more than one person in my contacts, for expample, I want to send a text advertising party at my house tonight to all of my friends at once without having to re type it and send it to 100 seperate people. My Blackberry allowed that and there has to be a way to do it with the iphone. Thanks in advance Hp Windows Vista
Ive had an active iPhone 3g since July. Twice in the last 24 hrs: once when home button pressed to awaken after just being in my pocket and the other time when powering on after being off for the night, I got the screen graphic showing connect to iTunes to activate (graphic of cord and iTunes logo) as if the phoe were brand new, with no service and only the ability to make a emergency call from the keypad (after slide). Luckily I was near my computer both time but may not be if it happens again. Once attached to computer and device recognized by iTunes, the phone screen says iPhone activated and everything is back to normal. All my apps, tunes, contacts, etc are still there.I take real good care of the phone. Never dropped; usually in my pocket when not in use. Software says up-to-date.Never happened previous to yesterday and nothing different that day. Anyone else having this issue? Any recommendations? Apple support said to restore the phone via iTunes. What a hassle, with all the backing up I have to do. But if that is the only recourse, Ill have to do. Its like, well weve never heard of that one so just restore it - an easy answer. Any other ideas that are not so drastic? iphone
Unfortunetly, this being the second iphone i purchase due to having my previous one stolen, i then agian misplaced it. I do know this one was not stolen but was completly my fault. This brings me to my question of, how come apple cannot locate my phone using the amazing gps the phone already had available on it?. A charge would be completly appropriate, but i believe it would just bring somthing more to the table. Everyone at one point either misplaces or reports their phone stolen, so why not a nifty idea of having the phone completly trackable so no one would ever even think of stealing this phone again? i think this is a great idea, but perhaps i am over looking an application that is already available. please, and references or commments, i am more than happy to listen to. iphone 3G Windows XP
Does anyone know if there is an application that might let you find your iphone through GPS if it is lost or lock the phone with the use of SMS/text message commands. As well as erase all date from a remote location. I found spritesoftware has this for windows mobile 5/6 and I believe would be a great benefit to the iPhone. Mac OS X (10.5)
Had a full charge and picked up the iphone put it in my pocket and when I got upstairs the battery was on red. What happened? I called tech support and the automated help had me reset it and then it took the charge, but It really scared me. Any ideas? It had been sitting on my desk with me for several hours prior. compaq Windows XP
Is there any way of using the iPhone as a Bluetooth remote on a iMac? We lost the little remote that usually sticks to the side of the iMac so it would be great if this was possible.Cheers.
Does anyone know if the 3G saves contacts to the SIM card automatically? I was able to import the contacts from my old SIM card but I also want make sure they save to the new one, as well as save my future contacts. Most of my phones have saved to SIM automatically, but my last phone did not, which I didnt discover until something went wrong with it. I cant find anything about this in the phone or the manual. iphone 3G
Sorry that was a little vague due to space limitations.. Basically, I got a replacement phone, and the guy at the genius bar said that my data would be restored to it when I sync it. Im a little concerned because sync-ing just got the black data off my phone when I had installed enterprise support months ago. so I thought Id ask if I should be doing anything special for the first sync to get as much info back in the phone as possible. side question: I noticed I have none of my address book despite using my old sim card. Does iPhone not store this info on the sim?thanks for any advice. iphone G2 Windows XP 2.2
Hi, I have an iPhone 3G, 2.2, newest iTunes version.I have a problem with the synchronisation, hope anyone can help. After connecting the iPhone to my PC iTunes starts syncronisation . contacts, calendar, ok. Then it stops like finished, but it didn`t sync my music playlist and the apps. The box in Music and Programs is marked. Before the 3G I had a 2G, everything was ok, never had problems. Many thanks for your help! iPhone 3G, 2.2, Windows Vista
Ok Ive tried syncing my iphone to itunes and it just says Sync in Progress. It never stops. Now it makes it through the Backing up iPhone portion but as soon as it gets to syncing contacts, it just sits there saying its Syncing contacts with iphone. Now Im not sure why its doing this, this just happened out of nowhere, so Ive even restored the phone twice, once as a new phone and then again with the option it left from restoring it the first time. It syncs the music, apps, and videos when I uncheck everything in the Info tab, such as contacts, calendar, etc. So its something to do with everything in the Info tab. But how do i fix this problem?? = Mac Book Pro Mac OS X (10.5.5)
Hello. Ive recently had some hard drive issues on my laptop, which forced me to reformat my hard drive. My iPhone now thinks I am using a different computer, which I guess means I need to resync and delete everything on it. What a pain...I have some pretty straight-forward questions, and Ive searched the forums looking for answers but havent found any yet, so excuse me if these are asked 1,000 times a day:Will backing up my iPhone really do me any good, in the long run? I guess Im confused about what actually is preserved by doing this. What exactly is lost during a new sync? Will I lose all of my contacts, text messages, and pictures? Or will it just be any music and pictures Ive synced via iTunes? I want to know if I need to type out the numbers and contact info of everything. What about all of my apps? Are they completely gone? Thanks in advance for any help.
i recently purchased an iphone 3g 8gb. loved it and everything worked flawlessly with it. i released that the 8gb wasnt enough so i went out and exchanged it for a 16gb phone instead. so i came home to sync it with my itunes and its stuck in the sycing stage. its stuck on syncing contacts. i have restored it and tried to uncheck the options to sych with and no matter what it gets stuck syncing anything. can anyone help me out with this. id like to be able to use my new iphone instead of watching it sycn. it is using software 2.2 please help! imac 24" Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Hey, I just downloaded iTunes 8 and signed up for MobileMe. Now iTunes wont recognize my phone, its a 3G. Also in the process I reset the default settings in my keychain and lost all my bookmarks, although I do have 99% of them in my iphone. Can someone tell me how to get my phone back in synch with iTunes. Ive done everything on the support page to no avail. As for the bookmarks, any advice would be much appreciated. iMac Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi.Since the initial setup, my new iPhone 3G doesnt sync up with MobileMe. After some trouble in the beginning MM works fine now between my Powerbook and my iMac but although my MM-settings on the iPhone are correct and set to sync calendars and contacts, it simply doesnt. I have tried everything on the iPhone: Push (nothing happens).Disconnecting push, using manual or automatic (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour). Deleting my MobileMe account on the phone, thus erasing all contacts and calendars, then retyping everything correctly (and getting no message to suggest otherwise).ITunes too tells me, that calendars and contacts are synced through MM and I cant sync iCal and contacts using the cable either. Also, when I open System/MobileMe/Synchronize/Advanced on either of my computers to see the list of devices connected to my MobileMe, it only shows my computers on that list - not the iPhone! Can anyone help me with this or do I just have to wait for Apple to realize that MM doesnt work on iPhone 3 (2.2) - which kind of defeats the whole purpose of getting it in the first place? Thanks, 15" Powerbook G4 1.5GHz / 21" iMac 2.16GHz / iPhone 3G 2.2. The original purchasers of the I-Phone were given a credit voucher for $100 when Apple reduced their phone prices several months later. Owners were sent via email and text, a credit voucher number. Well 2 weeks ago I lost my phone and no one turned it in, so Im trying to find my credit voucher number so I can use this to purchase another phone. My dilema is that I deleted my email but saved the text message which contained the info I needed--silly me didnt think that if I lost my phone I would have no information. Apple Customer Service has not been able to help because they kept no records and the refund program is over. AT&T was no help either. Has this happened to anyone else and/or can anyone direct me to a possible solution? Id sure hate to lose these $100 now that I really could put it to good use. Original I-Phone
Why does syncing contacts with outlook 2007 still not work correctly? I stopped syncing contacts a while ago because when I did my contacts in outlook always got messed up. So now since Im sick of the poor performance on my iphone I decide to finally do a restore. So in the kb it says to do a sync before you do the restore to make sure everything is synced up and you get a good backup, so I do that, and decide to sync the contacts to make sure any contacts I have on the iphone get transferred over to outlook. When I did the sync of contacts any contacts that were not in outlook, but were on the iphone are now gone. If the contact was not in outlook, but was on the iphone it got deleted from the iphone instead of transferred over to outlook. Itunes gave me the warning about more than 5% changing, but the warning didnt have anything under delete, so why did contacts on the iphone that werent in outlook get deleted? I lost alot of contacts. Also it modified some of my outlook entries and removed numbers from people who had multiple numbers even though those multiple numbers existed in both outlook and on the phone, but the sync decided to randomly remove some of the multiple numbers from both places. So now my contacts are completely screwed up. (what a piece of work this thing is)Is there any way to get them back to how they were? Does the iphone backup hold my contact info? Based on the fact that the G1 sold more units than the Iphone as a Beta product..... 71 days which is 3 days faster than the 74 days needed for the iPhone.....http://www.googleandblog.com/android-phones-million-sold-faster-than-iphone/3564/And given the fact that more Android phones are going to debut in 2009 making Android the de facto standard.Paint a bleak future for the Iphone. The inertia and push of so many cell phone providers behind Android as well as the fact that PCs running Android are just around the corner, clearly point to a scenario where the only Iphone can only loose missed opportunities. Locking the Iphone to a single provider and the provider in question were a mistake Apple will regret. Now add the fact that Android is an open source operating system. The caveats and problems it has will be overcome by the shear number of clients using this product.Android apps will easily outpace Iphone Apps. And when you see that a G1 is like a small version of a laptop while Iphone is a gaming console. The usefulness of each product clearly shows who will overcome the other. This will mean once again that like Apple IIe in the 80s, Iphone will be a relic, and all those early users will find themselves lost in the frey.Like Apple IIe compared to the IBM PC, Iphone will set the tone, but fail to gain track beyond early adopters.Having used the Storm, G1 and the Iphone. G1 is more practical and faster than the others. Updates promise to vastly improve (cupcake is around the corner), but will they deliver. The Iphone has become a gaming console. And the Storm the best camera phone. G1

A couple of weeks ago the tip of my iPhone earphone broke off into the port. I had my iPhone in the inside of my coat pocket, I come home, take out the earphone and low and behold the tip became stuck inside of it.My iPhone thinks that a set of earphones are constantly plugged in, even tho they are not. Because of this, I have to talk on the phone by either a bluetooth or speaker.About a week ago I went to the Apple store in Manhattan and seeked some help. I didnt have an appointment or anything as I was just touristing around the city and just ran into the Apple store. I was planning on going to my local Apple store sometime after Christmas when I have a few days off and time to take care of it.At the store, an blue shirt genius attempted to pry the piece out with some type of tool to no prevail. He then said to me since the iPhone is still covered under warranty, he would be happy to exchange it right then and there. I told him that I didnt want to as I wasnt prepared because I never backed up any of my contacts and such. The plan for me was to go home, backup my iPhone data, go to my local Apple store, have them look at it, and if they were unable to fix it, then get a new iPhone under warranty. So today I go out to my local Apple store at King of Prussia, PA and the associate and manager there told me that they can not give me an exchange because the tip of the earphone breaking off was due to accidental damage, and accidental damage is not covered by the limited warranty. (I looked over the warranty online after I left and it does say this.) However, how is this accidental damage? It was in my coat pocket comfortably, working fine all the way until I took it out. I asked the associate this and he referred to the roughed up edges on the rounded port to where you put the earphone jack into, and referred to this as accidental damage. BUT...that roughed up edge was caused by an Apple Store employee at the 5th avenue Manhattan store as he tried to pull it out with some tool. After some more arguing with the store manager, I ended up not getting a new iPhone yet....But he did tell me that I can buy a new one for $299; like I didnt know how much I spent on it in the first place.Another thing that ***** tho is that there is no history of me being at the Manhattan store as I never had an appointment and just walked in. But now there is a history of me going into my local Apple store and not getting a new iPhone because of accidental damage, which was caused by an Apple employee. Anyways, what do you all think about this? The manager said it was accidental damage because of the roughed up edges, but those roughed up edges were caused by an Apple employee himself.
Does anyone know why the iPhone applications, Safari and iPod, are so linked?Ever since the very original 1.0 iPhone, crashes in Safari have wreaked havoc with the iPods database that lets it keep track of where you are in a song and what has been played when. Even in the newest version of the iPhone software and on an iPhone 3G, this is a problem.Yes, things have gotten somewhat better. Safari crashes less often than it used to (although still quite often enough). If Safari crashes while you are listening to a song, it will probably keep its place. However, if you dont have something playing in the iPod application, and Safari crashes, it is likely that the iPod will forget where you were if you stopped in the middle of a song in the middle of a playlist. It also forgets which podcasts were listened to already, and it loses track of last-played and playcount information when it is next synced.Ive been with the iPhone since the beginning, and upgraded to a 3G as soon as I could. I sync it pretty regularly. Ive been through two original iPhones (bad audio jack on one after several months) and two 3Gs (locked up in the connect to iTunes screen, and even an Apple Genius couldnt get it to exit that mode). Also, Ive used a few Macs over all this time (one at a time) to run iTunes and sync. So I know this happens on multiple iPhones, multiple computers, and multiple copies and versions of iTunes. Its so frustrating that I cant use the iPhones iPod feature as it is intended. I find myself often bringing a nano along just because I know it will properly track my activities and hold my place. Thats hardly what was intended. Is it really that hard for Apple to protect the song information and separate it from Safari crashes? How does Safari crash in a way that it corrupts the song activity information? I dont see any other databses (such as mail, contacts, notes, or the files affiliated with other applications) being wrecked by Safari crashes.I can deal with the Safari crashes. Theyre a pain, but you kind of get used to them. (Even though, 18 months from introduction, its pretty amazing they are still so frequent.) I want copy and paste badly on the iPhone. But I want an iPod that works even more. MBP unibody (late 2008) 2.8; MBA (original); Mac mini (original) Mac OS X (10.5.6) Dell 30" Display; Apple 24" LED Cinema; iPhone 3G/16; TV; TimeCapsule 1 TB

Greetings!I just plugged in my iPhone 3G this morning to my MacBook Pro, launching iTunes as usual, except this time it says it doesnt know my phone and asks to either setup a new phone, or restore from yesterdays backup, as if it doesnt even know my phone. My phone appears to be named properly and the same as always in both iTunes and iPhoto, but why would it not be able to identify the same phone its always been syncing? Ive tried restarting the phone, iTunes, changing USB ports, etc. but it still asks to restore from yesterday or start anew.Anyone else have this issue? Its not that I have a lot that would be lost from yesterday, but I dont want to see this happen on a day where its important.Thank in advance!B MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.5) 2.2 GHZ Intel, 2 GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM
Hi All,Because the iPhone does not support voice dialing, I am looking for a speakerphone that does it by itself. I have found the Parrot Minikit Slim, which attaches to the visor, and downloads the contacts from the phone. Then all I have to do is press a button and say the name of the person I want to call. The kits voice recognition finds the contact, and dials it. It even asks, Home or Cellphone if I did not specify. This part works very well, and I am very pleased with it, but the call quality does not seem to be that great. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other bluetooth speakerphones that will do this. It must be able to download the contacts and do voice dialing on its own, as this is the only reason I want to replace my Jawbone II which has excellent call quality. Thanks for any suggestions or reviews. PC
I intend to upgrade to the 3g this month and I still have around 8 months of my contract to run.I also plan to sell my 2g phone and was looking for someone to guide me through the steps I need to take to ensure there is no trace of me or my contacts etc left on this phone. Will I keep the sim I have at the moment ie will they just swap it over to my new phone or what happens.Any advice would be most appreciated.Thankyou ibook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.10)
Im new to the iPhone 3G (Ive had it 3 days) and Im trying to figure out if theres something wrong with my iPhone, or if it is just the way it is. Ive posted a similar message on the AppleInsider forum, but I am being accused of being an S60 fanboy rather than actually getting any constructive help.I was under the impression that the iPhone was a very speedy device, and even more so with firmware 2.2 installed (which I have updated to as it came with 2.1). However, it comparison to my Nokia E71, it can be quite sluggish, and I am trying to establish whether this is normal, or if there is something wrong with my iPhone. For instance, on the iPhone it takes a good 2 seconds before the Settings or contacts menus popup after pressing their respective icons. In addition, typing in Safari is very sluggish, with the magnified letters and click noise being delayed and I almost have to stop and wait a second for the phone to catch up and make sure its got every word I typed before moving on. This sluggishness and delay was not something I was expecting from the iPhone given all the reports on how quick it is, and it can be quite frustrating in comparison to the operational speed of the E71.Is this delay normal, or is there something wrong with my phone? Does it take about 2 seconds to open contacts and the Settings menu on your iPhone? Can Safari keep up with your typing speed? I probably type in the region of 40-50wpm and it struggles to keep up with this.Any opinions or suggestions greatly welcome, as Id like to get this thing flying along just like my old phone did! Thanks,Michael.
Im in San Francisco, iPhone 3G owner since the beginning (but new to AT&T). Ive swapped phones and sims, and spent countless hours on the phone with both AT&T and Apple. I have a fully functioning phone, and poorly functioning service.AT&T has confirmed that there are reception issues (due to frequency and over use) in my area of San Francisco, resulting in dropped calls, delayed voicemail and lack of 3G. AT&T has credited my account multiple times, but last month told me that they would allow me to cancel my contract and keep my phone...(or should I say iPod), but would not offer any further discounts on my contract. On a recent trip to Florida, the phone and service functioned perfectly. Full 3G reception 1.5 miles offshore, perfect reception in downtown Miami, not one dropped call the whole trip (except when I called a friend on his iPhone here in SF and his phone dropped the call). The reception issue is documented by AT&T with vague promises that it will be fixed Q1 2009. As it stands, Im feeling pretty lost as far as how to proceed — Ive spent a lot of energy, time and money on this project and have a phone that functions very poorly in my home area. AT&Ts incapable of owning it, and Apple recommends that I use the phone as an iPod (or unlock it). This is completely ridiculous on the part of both AT&T and Apple. MBP / iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.4.10)

OK, im about 90% sure theres nothing more I can do to improve my battery life on my iphone 3G, but Im looking for some other peoples input before I go way out of my way to go to the apple store, which is about an hour drive (dont have an address that i could use the mailing method ... so thats not an option)Heres my current setup:Hardware: iphone 3G, running iPhone 2.2 OS3G: off- not in a 3G enabled cityWifi: off (on when web surfing at home- not frequent as I use my laptop...)Location services: Off, unless im using Maps to get somewhere (rare)Email: Push is activated on my MobileMe account, turned off my work MS Exchange account entirely (would like to have it on) and my third email is turned off as well. MobileMe: syncs contacts, bookmarks, calendar, and mail. Third Party Apps: a few installed, use is not frequent- maybe 10 min a day average.Bluetooth: off 99% of the time, only on when traveling and using headset.brightness: 25-30% as an attempt to conserve batteryEQ: offI went to this link: http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html and as you can see with the aforementioned statistics Im doing everything to conserve battery, except disabling push.Battery Performance:Usage: 1 hour 34 minutesStandby 7 hours, 38 minutesBattery: just above 20% (not red, but very close to it)The above data was taken after applying all the settings listed above, resetting the phone, then draining the battery completely and fully charging it using the iphone cable and usb wall charger included with the iPhone. Received only 2 emails, and 1 text message during the usage time. With these settings my phone made it a full day with out dying, with normal consumer settings (wifi on, location services on but used little, etc) my battery would last about 4-5 hours with the same amount of Usage.Basically, im looking for affirmation so I dont drive way out of my way and wait in line for hours to be told that there is nothing that they can do with my phone..My previous iPhone (2G) would last 3-4 days sometimes without being recharged and it had push enabled on 2 email addresses (MM, and MS Exchange) My wife currently uses this phone w/ 2 emails, location services on, and uses 3rd party apps a lot and her phone battery lasts 2 days still..New battery time?-thanks Macbook, MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Dear Apple,I bought 2 iPhones (16GB) from AT&T store while activating new service with them. After about a month or so, I was so frustrated* (see all reason listed at the end) with AT&T service that I decided to cancel it and go back to T-mobile. Overall I paid over $1200 for the two iPhones (including tax, cancellation fees, first month usage fee etc.).Now when I was trying to go back to T-mobile, to my surprise the iPhone wont work! I cannot believe that I just spent $1200 on 2 shiny paper weights (I cant even get past the activation stage because I did a firmware upgrade procedure on my iPhone, iTunes wont sync because it complains that my t-mobile sim was not valid). I called AT&T first and asked them to unlock my phone. They were pretty hesitant to work with me since I had already canceled my account with them. But eventually the customer rep told me that they have no control over the iPhones sim lock and advised me to call Apple. I called apple and the customer rep just plainly refused to unlock because they said it was not possible.I ask for your help. What do I do with the now defunct 2x $600 devices ? Reasons for cancellation:call drops due to low signal, several calls would ring, but upon picking up they would drop.very low voice quality, unusually high amount of wrong numbersSMS charges for incoming messages that I have no control over Mac Mini Core2Duo 2ghz Mac OS X (10.5.6)
I have a strange problem with all our iPhones 3G (we have 3 units). We all have MobileMe accounts and up to about 3 days ago, push was working great, especially after the recent MobileMe updates and 10.5.6.Now, our emails are not pushed to the phones. Emails only comes in only after several minutes (I sent emails to ourselves to test), unlike before, when it was within a minute or so. My MacBook receives the email (via pop) much earlier before the iPhones push mail! It appears to me that the iPhone has defaulted to Fetch mode instead. However, contacts and calendars details and changes are pushed to the iPhones almost instantly. Only email is a problem. This problem started about 3 days ago. I have deleted the email accounts, reinstalled, all to no avail. Are there any issues with MobileMe servers now? Thanks. Hi,I got a 3G on Christmas morning. It worked all day Christmas day on my wifi network. Boxing day, it stopped working entirely, and in fact failed to even see my network completely. Pleae note at this point, all my other wireless devices were working perfectly. I tried everything to get the iPhone on the network:Changed SSIDUsed WEP (and various passphrases)Used WPA (and various passphrases)Used NO security at allChanged wireless channelChanged mode (G, B, G&B, and Auto)Did a factory resset on the iPhone (with and without a restore afterwards)Tried manually entering the network details in the iPhoneTried forcing a static IP on the iPhoneUpgraded router (Netgear) firmwareRemoved router config entirelyTurned firewall offReserved a static IP for my iPhones MAC addressNone of the above worked. Was about ready to take the phone back to O2, but found this thread. Turned my router off overnight, along with the iPhone. Woke up this morning, turned the router on, then the iPhone - voila! Wifi! However, there is still woe to my (lengthy) tale - I have just in the last 20 minutes lost the ability to use my wireless network again on my iPhone, yet every other wireless device works. It appears that this is a very serious problem, and would very much hope that Apple intend to do something about this sooner rather than later. What do I do in the meantime though? PC Windows Vista
Hello,I have the phone numbers in contacts stored in the international format (ex> +1 514 xxxxxxx). When I receive a call from abroad, iPhone recognizes the call and mentions the name of the caller. When I receive a local call, iPhone does not recognize the call and does not mention the name of the caller (as in contacts).Any solution ? I have been suggested to go thru Cydia but ... cmon there must be another solution. Thank you in advance iPhone Mac OS X (10.5.6) Intel Core Due
Is there a way to send multiple texts to your contacts? Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.5)
i am a lil picky and by a lil i mean a lot when it comes to my stuff, like i have had a phone in the past that had a lil plug that covered the power jack and once i lost the lil plug i bought a new phone because it bothered me, so my question is this, if i buy a refurbed iphone will it look like new? i mean i really couldnt deal with any scratchs or anything, very very minor swirls i could live with but not a scratch. At least a second cell phone from Apple. There is the iPod mini, nano, classic and touch. There is the Mac and the iMac. There is the MacBook and the MacBook pro. I think it they should have at least two models of cell phones one being the iPhone. The second (if it were up to me) something not so wonderful as the I phone but competent. Not the big screen or the thousands of apps or even the touch screen. I just want something I can sync contacts and appointments (includng todos) to without the need of third party software. Something with a user replacable battery, mp3 player and bluetooth (A2DP would be cool).Im just saying. iMac Mac OS X (10.4.11)
I have a new imac, and just bought an iphone. When my contacts were transferred a worker at the at&t store used a pc. I heard that connecting my iphone to my imac could lose all my data on the phone, since it is not in mac format? Is this true, or can I connect my iphone? Thanks in advance! imac Mac OS X (10.5.6)
