3G battery getting eaten alive iPhone 3G

Thats right! My 3G battery is getting eaten alive. I upgraded to OS4 and the problems started. I then downgraded the OS to 3 from the method described on lifehacker, but the problem is still there. The battery is fine when I use the brick as just a phone, but if I use any apps or Safari I get about 30 minutes use. Anybody have an idea to fix this mess?To add to it, I cant get a new phone from my Devil provider until February..Im ******. Windows 7 iPhone OS 3.1.3

3G with 3.1.3 Downgrade Installed Synced iPhone

Well, after four attempts spanning over 7-hours, I finally got the improved downgrade installed and everything re-synced back to where Apple should have left it. Honestly, after being a loyal customer since 1984, I have never seen Apple Computer make so many blunders with a single product line ever! It was markedly unintelligent to even suggest, or allow revision 4.0 to be installed on an iPhone G3. BTW: I attempted various website instructions to apply the fix, and ultimately found the guidance provided by ‘lifehacker’ to be the most accurate and straightforward. Keep in mind that after you get version 3.1.3 installed, you will need to select ‘set up as a new iPhone’ within iTunes and cycle through the various menu options to check-mark what things get synced e.g. apps, music, photos, etc. Otherwise, your phone will be configured as it came from stock. “One more thing…” Not all apps may not be installed on your iPhone 3G, if they were designed specifically for version 4.0 or higher. http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313Regards,Dan  2009 Quad 2.66 MBP Core Duo; AEBS; iPhone G3; iTouch Mac OS X (10.5.8)

downgrade to 3.1.3 worked however phots will not sync iPhone 3G

I successfully downgraded from 4.0.1 back to 3.1.3 using the methods described at: http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313.All is fine and everything came back to life except I now cannot sync photos.. I moved all of my Camera Roll photos that were visible when the iPhone was plugged in into the iPhoto folder that is specifically set-up to be the folder that syncs to the iPhone pictures. iPhoto sees all of the photos and the item count is correct. However, when I sync I get a red alert that says The iPhone Theo Glucks iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.Uh...what might that file be and how can I find it? Problem following lifehacker instructions to downgrade 3G to 3.1.2 iPhone

I think that iTunes 9.2.1 may make it harder to follow LifeHackers Link: instructions to downgrade my iPhone 3G from iOS 4 to iOS 3.1.3. I ran into a little problem under Step 3, after I went into recovery mode. It says to go into iTunes and:...make sure youve clicked the iPhone under the Devices sidebar in iTunes, then hold Shift and click the Restore button (if youre on OS X, Alt/Opt+Click). iTunes will pop up a window prompting you to choose a file. But when I do this, the only options I get are to eject and open in a new window. Im wondering if I dont get the option to choose a file because I upgraded iTunes to 9.2.1 and the lifehacker article was written before that upgrade. If so, do I have to downgrade my iTunes before I downgrade my iPhone? MacBook Pro iOS 4

downgrading to IOS3 with new iTunes 9.2.1 iPhone 3G

After hearing that the white iPhone 4 will not be available anytime soon, I finally decided I cant fukcing bear ios4 on my 3G any longer and want to downgrade back to ios3.N.B. Ive been following this method:http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313However, the new iTunes 9.2.1 update seems to make this more difficult. At the stage where you option-click the Restore button to choose which IOS restore file you want to use, it no longer works.Apples description of the iTunes update seems to confirm this:-Addresses an issue upgrading to iOS 4 on an iPhone or iPod touch with encrypted back-upsDoes anyone know a way around this yet? Thanks. iPhone 3G iOS 4

Desired backup lostmissing from list please help iPhone 3G

Hello there,Ive gone through a lot of topics but cant seem to find the exact same situation as mine. Please forgive me if Im duplicating.I have been using an iPhone 3G with iOS 4 and I wanted to downgrade it back to 3.1.3. Because I know that the iPhone 4 will be released where I live in a weeks time, what I wanted to do was to do a backup, so that my SMSes and other data can be saved from today till the day I get my iPhone 4. I understand that if I go back to 3.1.3, I wont be able to restore any backups that Ive done since I upgraded to iOS 4.Heres what happened today.5:21PMI synced my iPhone 3G and just to make sure, I also right-clicked on my iPhone 3G and performed a backup5:23PMThe backup completedSo I downgraded my iPhone 3G using the method from this site.http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313All went well. At the point where I was asked to Setup as a new iPhone or Restore from the backup of XXX, I simply unplugged the iPhone (because I had to go out for dinner). So the iPhone was working with 3.1.3 just fine.Came back around 8PM, plugged my iPhone to my MacBook and iTunes showed the same screen, asking me to Setup as a new iPhone or Restore from the backup of XXX.8:06PMSo, I thought, I should select Setup as a new iPhone, clicked on it, then nightmare! Because I remembered seeing from somewhere that the latest sync (in this case setting up a new iPhone) will automatically erase the latest backup.8:07PMThe set up on a new iPhone was completed. I quickly checked iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Backup to see if the latest backup I wanted to keep was there or not. And indeed the 5:21PM back was wiped. Now showing the following backupsiPhone 3G - 23/07/2010 8:50 PMiPhone 3G Test (this is the one where I was mucking around with the files and changing the log)XXXs iPhone 3G - 01/06/2010 1:31 PMXXXs iPhone 3G - 23/06/2010 7:55 AMXXXs iPhone 3G - Jul 18, 2010 8:26 PMXXXs iPhone 3G - Jun 24, 2010 5:37 AMI really should have made a copy of that backup from 5:21PM and kept it somewhere before clicking on Setup as a new iPhone. But its already too late. Can anyone please help me restore my backup that was created in the first place (the one at 5:21PM)? Im willing to go back to iOS 4 for this matter. If it would help for me to post any screen shots of the folders and files, please let me know. Ill upload them somewhere and post the links in later replies. Because Ive upgraded it since it was released, theres too much data to lose, especially my SMSes. Please help~ Thank you so much in advance!Best regards,88kin  MacBook C2D 2.4 4G  iPhone 3G 16G White  Time Capsule 1TB Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Message Send Failure keeps popping up over and over again iPhone

I read in lifehacker that you can send a text to an email address just by putting the email address into the number field. So I thought Id test it out.I started to type the email address and it appeared in the selections above. So I tapped the email I wanted and it said it was being sent as an MMS. Okay, no problem there. So I sent Test. But it didnt go through. Okay, nevermind.Except now a Message Send Failure pop up appears every few minutes. No matter what I do I cant get it to stop. I turned off MMS messaging. I rebooted the phone. Im at a loss and about to throw it out a window!Any thoughts? Gateway Windows 7 iPhone OS 3.1.2

Download and sync visual voice box messages to iTunes iPhone

Hi,Is it possible to download and sync visual voice box messages to iTunes? According to these sites its not yet possible. When will this feature become available?http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/iphone/features/visualvoicemail/Can I save my voice messages to another part of my iPhone or save them to my PC?Sorry, this isn’t possible yet.Theres is a good argument on this site I think:When your five-year-old nephew sings Happy Birthday to you on your voicemail, you want to keep that message to play back to his friends when hes in college.http://lifehacker.com/399404/how-to-transfer-iphone-voicemail-to-your-computerThank you,Philipp MacBook Pro 2,4 GHz Mac OS X (10.5.8)

UK iphone user wanting to send free SMS

Ive read a few articles such as this one:http://lifehacker.com/398539/send-free-sms-messages-using-the-aim-iphone-appexplaining how you can use the AIM instant messaging application on the iPhone to send SMS messages to other mobile users for free.Ive tried sending messages to a couple of UK mobile numbers via the AIM app but I get an error message back saying:Unable to send IM+44xxxxxxxxxx is unable to receive offline messages. From the instructions Ive read about it, there doesnt seem to be a distinction between US cell numbers or other countries (such as UK).Im not sure if Im adding the number in the right place in the buddy details, or whether theres another issue Im not aware of.Does anyone know what Im doing wrong, or how to do this in the UK?
