I love my iPhone, but cant make calls at home due to poor ATT signal strength (tho Verizon is fine). Has anyone had any luck with the signal boosters currently on the market? Thanks for any input and happy holidays.jeff iPhone 3G 16gb Mac OS X (10.5.5)
Hey guys,Well, I finally upgraded to the new 3G iPhone. Ive been a current 2G iPhone user for over a year, and thought Id upgrade and take advantage of the 3G service. Anyway, I absolutely love it so far. Its definitely quicker than the Edge service. Overall Im very happy, but I do have a couple of questions regarding the new phone.1. Can I use my existing power bug wall charger from my 2g iPhone to charge the phone?2. Will the 2G iPhone car charger work for the 3G iPhone?3. What should I do with my existing 2G iPhone? Its in great shape, and works fine, but I really no longer have a need for it.Well, thanks for all of your help!JeffP.s. Do you guys think Apple is going to release another new iPhone in July again this year? Dell Windows XP
Hello,Well, I was having issues with my iPhone running slow, so I did a restore through iTunes. Now, Im trying to put the apps that Ive downloaded from iTunes back onto the phone, however, it keeps telling me, Authorization failed, please connect to iTunes. I have reconnected to iTunes, but Im not sure what to do from this point forward. If someone could please help me, that would be great! Thanks, jeff Dell Windows XP

Phone will not restore. iTunes hangs on verifying.Have scoured the forums and Net for solution, no joy.Apparently Im not alone with this issue.Have tried uninstall/reinstall iTunes, drivers, registry clean up, multiple computers, SIM card reinstall, everything accept rolling back to iTunes 8.1 because I havent found an 8.1 download yet.Any one got any whip smart ideas...?jeff fujitsu T4220 Windows XP
My question is concerning the Universal Dock with iPhone 3G. I am not able to hear sound out of the speaker or receiving a call. I just received the adapters for the universal dock which always it to work with the old dock. Is there something I need to do that I am not. Thanks for anybodys help. jeff iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.5.5)
Hello,Basically as the subject of my message asks, is it worth me upgrading from my original 8g iPhone to the new 3G iPhone? My birthday is coming up, and people were thinking about getting me the new 3G phone, but I wasnt sure if it was worth the switch or not. Is it really that much faster than the original phone? How is the durability of it compared to the orginal phone? Lastly, are the rate plans pretty comprable to the original iPhone? I know that its an extra $10/month, but are the plans pretty similiar other than that? Any advice would be great!jeff Dell Windows XP
Hey All,When I was researching the iPhone I read about a few battery tests some places were doing, but Im not sure Im seeing the same. Perhaps if some of you dont mind you would like to do some controlled tests with me so we can see how consistent the batteries are, and what kind of numbers were getting.I was thinking we could break it down into the following:1. General Use2. All On3. All Off4. MP3Now, I understand that some of these may be a bit odd to do (the mp3 one especially), but it might help, so here is what I am proposing.1. General Use: Basically take a week worth of use doing what you would normally do, record the usage every time you plug in to charge it and give the average for the week.2. All On: The same as above, but with Location, WiFi, 3G (if applicable), and so such all turned to on for two days. Record the usage.3. All Off: Obviously the opposite of above. Turning off all services for a day or so (only turning them on while you need them if you cant go without).4. MP3: I am going to test this one tonight. From a full charge, place the iPod on a song and simply repeat it while you sleep. In the morning (or whenever it hits the 20% mark) record the usage.Be sure to record both the USAGE and STANDBY times for each section. As well, if anyone has any other ideas for testing this, feel free to post it.jeff PC!! I have a local radio station that I love to listen too, and while they do offer a streaming version on the internet (that I have to use Flycast to listen too), I was wondering if (and this shows my technical knowledge) any of the antennas in the iPhone have the ability to tune into basic FM/AM stations if there was software that would allow it?I know many would say that radio is old news with all the streaming stuff, but I remember using it on my old Creative Zen MP3 player a lot and thought it might be a nice thing to have in this case if possible. Thanks, jeff PC!! Ever since I updated to the 2.1 firmware I cant get mail to work on my phone. Ill click the mail button and the mail app opens, but no accounts load. It sits there for a few minutes and then crashes to the home screen. If I go into the settings and try to edit or switch off mail accounts the entire phone freezes up. If I wait long enough it eventually reboots itself to the apple logo or I have to manually force it to restart by holding the home button and on/off button. My wireless carrier has had me reset everything including doing a full reset to factory defaults. This helped or a few days, but then it stopped working again. A replacement phone is on the way, but I think its the firmware not the phone. Anyone else have this problem?Cheers, jeff iPhone 3G
Hey All,When I first got my iPhone I noticed after 4 days that the case was cracked between the headphone jack, and the Chrome bezel. At first I assumed it came like that from the factory as I had only plugged in the headphones twice.I had it sent back, and received a new iPhone. This one is being sent back for another reason, but I noticed yesterday that it too had a crack in the same place as the first phone.I realized that I had plugged in my iPhone earphones, my Bose earphones, and my car adapter in the last week and some. Im not sure which one cracked it, but since my first one was cracked via the iPhone headphones I can assume that they, or quite possibly all of them have the ability to crack the casing. This got me wondering if in fact it wont matter how many iPhones I get from Apple, it might be inevitable that theyll develop a crack there due to a poor design choice having such a thin bit of plastic between the jack and the edge.I am curious how many others are seeing this problem. Bear in mind it is quite hard to see and you need to hold it up to the sun, or some other bright light source to see the crack. I have seen bigger online, but I am wondering if this is happening to more people than just me.IF it turns out that this is a design flaw, I wonder what recourse we have with Apple if any. I personally, could live with it, but only with a rebate of at least $50 or something and a guarantee that the phone will be replaced if a design change is made in the next year. What do you guys think?I currently have a new phone arriving via UPS tomorrow, and Im a little curious to see if the plastic cracks yet again (or what other defects the phone might have). Ill post back if it does.jeff PC!! Windows Vista Funny,,,it just works!
Hello All,I am currently on my 3rd iPhone replacement. The first one had a crack between the chrome and the headphone jack, the second one has an incorrectly installed bezel and is causing both a light leak, and a sharp edge (The plastic also cracked in the same place as the first phone).I really need to know what you guys think I should do at this point. I have never in my life had to replace an electronic device so many times and quite frankly its getting to the point where the time needed to deal with this is becoming beyond ridiculous. What do I do if the phone coming on Tuesday has a problem, do I just keep calling Rogers and getting them to send me new phones until one actually works even though it takes me almost two hours worth of my time to deal with, and ship the phones back.I really, honestly want my money back despite how much fun I have had with my phone, but due to the contract and such it simply isnt an option.Should I take the next phone they give me and if there is a problem (one that I can look past for now), should I call Rogers, explain the problem but refuse a new phone for 6 - 9 months in the hopes Apple will deal with all the quality issues?Should I go higher (straight to Apple head office) and deal with it at that level?Basically, I would like to hear your ideas as to what would be the best solution at this point. I dont want to spend every week on the phone getting a new iPhone sent to me, but more importantly Im concerned that it will break after the year of warranty leaving me to pay out of pocket or go without a phone. Thanks, jeff PC!! Hello All,I am writing this post as one of my official documentations of the crack that has developed beside the headphone jack since I received the phone 5 days ago (Sunday Sept 14, 2008).I just got off the phone with Apple Technical support and explained that I have had the phone since Sunday and have done the following only with the phone:Plugged in the included headphones twice at the mostNever carried it in my pocketHavent even left the house with the phoneHavent dropped it, or set it down hardThe Tech was going to set up an appointment at the Calgary, Alberta, Canada store for a repair, but I declined.I said that I had been on these forums and it seems as though its a problem with many users and that there are numerous posts on here regarding it. I told her that getting it repaired at this time would probably not be worth it until Apple recognizes this as an issue as I could be calling back again and again.I explained that I was calling to document the issue so that later on IF Apple takes action to fix it, then there is record that I did so. I am supposed to be getting an e-mail with a case number shortly so I will be e-mailing it back with photos of the crack, a copy of my receipt and a copy of this post.I must say that this being my first Apple product I am not very impressed with its quality. Normally I would simply replace it and know that the chances of it happening twice is slim, but in this case it seems as though this is a bigger issue than just a random happening.I really hope this issue gets addressed ASAP!Thanks, jeff WalkerMessage was edited by: crazylegsmurphy PC!! My touch screen just stopped working. I cant access anything. I went through all the troubleshooting, even to the point of restoring and it still doesnt work. This is my 2nd phone with the same problem. My first phone had a section of the touch screen that wouldnt work after about 1 yr. This one replaced that one and has only been 1 1/2 months. I think I need to take it to a genius bar, but the nearest one is just under 2 hours away. Any other ideas out there??jeff toshiba satellite Windows XP Pro
