Help me please i have updated my everything i am supposed to but still have http://the iphone software update server could not be contacted can anybody help me please seeing as i cannot get to my emi number or nothing ......

iphone 4s stuck in recovery mode. Error code-1 .

I recently bought my iphone 4s from a guy (who bought it from someone else). He sold it to me pretty cheap because when he bought it, one of his friends tried to restore it for him and it got stuck in recovery mode. I have no idea if the phone has ever been "tampered with" or not. He didn't seem to know much about it (said it was his first smartphone) and I thought I might have a chance of fixing it. I'm starting to lose faith in that...I've tried almost everything I can find. I know there are tricks for this all over the internet and I've tried almost all of them. TinyUmbrella does nothing, Redsn0w won't even install on my computer (frustrating!). Trying to restore from iTunes is useless. It gets to about 90% then comes up with error code (-1) and gives up. I've tried that route probably 20 times with no change. I know I could take it into Apple and they could look at it, but I have no information on the phone itself. I cannot get the serial number. Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I'll try anything that doesn't require me taking it to Apple and getting charged more than I paid for the phone to fix it....I run Windows 7. Thanks so much!

I bought an iphone 4 locked to Orange UK why can't it be unlocked

I contacted Orange UK and they said that this iPhone4 is ready to be unlocked, but they can't unlock the phone  because I am not the original contract owner. Why can't Apple unlock this phone, because the original owner doesn't care and has sold it? As far as I understand, I am one of at least 3 owners for this phone. I guess there could be more. I just wanted to have a normal iphone, why can't Apple help on this issue?  I have previously had many apple products, this is the first one I bought used adn just wanted to restore it to normal. Another thing is that 3rd party services can unlock it for 200$. What is that they do to unlock it? Why can't apple make a small comission for unlcoking iPhones instead. How to get to spotlight text message search results iphone 3G

Why it it that when I query a word or two in spotlight, I can see the text message that I am looking for but when I tap it, I am not taken to that message. This renders the search useless.

This is my issue. I have been using the messages app and spotlight to search keywords and/or phrases in old text messages.  Scenario: Using the search bar in the messages app, I lookup Mac. It returns 2 results. I click the message I want to view and it opens the most recent message in thread. So I tried using Spotlight. Granted, it returns more results (about 6,7), but when I click the message to finish reading it, again, it opens the most recent message in the thread. Is there an app that actually searches messages and lets you view the message?

Package and product number differ iphone 5

I bought the iphone 5 from  Star One Mobile in Sim Lim Square Singpore recently. After reaching my place , just found that the  serial number and IMEI number in my iphone 5 product and the packaging box are different. When I check on the website the packaging number shows the product is replaced but the number in product shows valid. Can some one explain the difference?I did not anticipate an Apple product having a difference in serial and IMEI number  from the packaging --- probable that the Star one mobile could have changed the package?

Something rattling in my iphone 5 else have this problem

Something inside my phone moves and it is loud. I was told it was something with the hardware and it could be a lose battery. Has anyone else had this problem. This phone was replaced a month ago for another type of problem so there should be nothing wrong with it since the new phone came from an apple store.

Re iphone 4s wifi

My iphone 4s no longer allows me to connect to any wifi connections. The option is greyed out and wont let me do anything to it. I have tried restarting and resetting the network connections and all  settings but this has not worked. The wifi came back briefly randomly at one or two points but could not find any wifi networks. I have read on the internet it is probably a hardware problem so I will be taking it back to apple next week. Just wondered if anyone had any further ideas about the problems?

way to factory restore on my phone but only restore my text and imessage back onto phone iphone 5

My iphone 5 battery drains a lot. After 42 minutes of usage, and 5 hours of standby it drops to 89%. I'm just wondering if thats normal. I was wondering, if theres a way I can completely restore my iphone. Like restore nothing back onto it, only my text messages and imessages cause those are really important.

I dropped my phone on its back and now screen wont turn on. What wrong with phone iphone 4S

I dropped my phone with an otterbox defender case on the phone on its back, directly following the fall (maybe 3ft) the screen remains black, however, the phone is still on because I get text messages and emails. I believe that the digitizer may have been dislodged from the logic board. Should I investigate the phone myself or take it in, mind you the nearest apple store (grrr) is almost 60 miles away.

iphone 5 not ringing or alerting of texts calls going to voice mail

My iphone 5 recently started having problems with the ringer.  The ringer will be turned all the way up, the mute button is NOT being used and the phone will not ring for calls or alert for texts.  It is not always happening, but more so than not.  I have tried rebooting the phone, the OIS is up to date and I do not have the "Do Not Disturb" set.  I can be in the same spot with LTE and full signal have a call/text that is missed then receive a call/text and it rings.  Does not seem to matter if the call is coming from a land line, same Verizon carrier cell or different carrier cell there is no noticable reason.  Any ideas???

My iphone wont turn on after updating

My iphone 4G was updating to the latest i.OS software on itunes (on my windows computer). As usual, my phone had to restart. It turned off, but as it was turning on (when the screen just shows that silver apple logo) an error message came up on itunes saying that it couldnt update the software (I forgot to get the error number). But my phone is stuck with that silver apple logo on it. My computer tells me to restore my phone, which I tried, but everytime I do that, itunes says "extracting software" and then it says "preparing to restore" then it comes up with an error message (number 2009). I have tried restarting my computer. My phone is stuck like this. What should I do? Please help!

I just picked up a used iphone 5 and I noticed that it has an odd model number that I cant seem to find anywhere. I know it's a GSM black 32gb A1428, but it tells me it's number is MD640LL/A. It's not really a big deal, but I can't find that number listed anywhere. Anyone know what this particular model is?

iphone 5 suddenly no sound

I recently had a software update (6.1.4) on my iphone 5.  I ran the update last week and everything seemed fine.  However, as of yesterday my phone no longer made sound, it just stopped making sounds to everything.  It makes no sound when it rings, when I receive a text/email or when I try to listen to music.  The sound is completely dead.  The little switch on the left of the phone is turned on for volume.  I did a reset and nothing seems to help.  Has anyone encountered this problem?  Does anyone have a solution?

iphone images won t restore after phone reset

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iphone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iphone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone. Now the problem is images. there is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file. In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space.  Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found. She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iphone are not here, where are they? Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again? Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received... The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iphone and images previously uploaded from the laptop. Cheers Chipontheroad

Desperate- way to extract location history of my iphone where I have been

Please help- its my understanding that iphone stores where you have been (location history). When I was searching the Internet to see if I could access this info, I found Pete wardens iphone tracker download (I think it came out in April 2011), but then I read that apple fixed this problem of storing this info on your computer too, by releasing a software update shortly after. Is that correct? If I backup my iphone to computer will it have a file on there that stores the history of where I and my iphone have been? Or is this no longer the case? I desperately need a log with time stamps, I need to prove where I have been in the last week (marriage problems). My iphone 5 has gone black but can still hear sound

Last night my iphone 5 went black and won't respond to anything. I can still hear soundlike siri and when a text comes through but I can't see anything. Okay so first my iphone 4s had a storage problem. So I bought an iphone 5 and restored my old settings to the iphone 5. Sadly that carried over the storage bug to my new phone. I went and reset all of the factory settings and started from scratch. I have now fixed my storage problem, but I made this a new iphone, and did not restore from a back up this time. I set it up with the same phone number of course, expecting it to take in my contacts from my cell phone number. I sync everything, and my contacts are there. But they aren't MY contacts....they're my mom's.... So how can I get rid of her contacts and import mine. I tried turning off iCloud contacts and deleting them, and turning it back on. But its the same. Help!?

My phone will not restore properly iphone 4S

I just bought a second hand (perfect condition) iphone 4S today, the user sold it because they had upgraded to an iphone 5. The previous user did not restore the phone they just deleted all of their previous data (contacts, pictures, applacations, they left their 1,100 songs though), so I planned on restoring it later tonight to start fresh. I had it activated to my phone number at the Verizon store on my way to a family party and used it throughout today but put barely anything onto it knowing I would be restoring it tonight. I got home and plugged it into my laptop and went to iTunes found "Emily's iphone" and then hit the restore button like normal, it worked perfectly fine and went the whole 14 minutes it said it had to. Then my phone went to the "connect to iTunes" screen when it was already connected. I checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, and it all was perfectly fine. I tried the manual reboot (holding the home and lock buttons for a few seconds) and all it does is shut off and bring me to the same "connect to iTunes screen".. someone please tell me how I can restore my phone! Thank you,    Emily

Viber Editing text hard to impossible-cursor jumps always to end iphone 3G

Hi all, everytime I want to edit text I'm entering into the message box, I'm not able to do it, since the cursor always jumps to the end of the text.This makes it impossible to mark & copy some or all text, as well as rephrasing or correcting typos. The only 'workaround' I found is to keep the finger on the target position (and having the looking glass active) and then type one character (or delete on). I'm a little bit curious since my friend and me are experiencing that issue for a long time now though I found no reference on the net for it yet (except one to a wordpress app). It happens on a 3GS as well as on a 4, at least all 6.* versions of iOS, with the previous (2.3.1) as well as with the current Viber version (3.0.0).Also experienced on iPad (3rd gen, cellular edition) with 6.1.3 / 3.0.0 Any hints or tipps are very welcome! Thanks in advance &cu,-udo

iphone 5 camera not working

So i have my brand new iphone 5, since out of the box (2 days ago) the camera is not working, the camera app launches when i hit the camera icon but the shutter wont open, now if hit home button and then open camera again the shutter opens but the screen is black and i can't use any button on the camera app (auto flash, switch to front camera, etc.). Last night i read somewhere in this forums to turn off "Cellular Data" on the facetime setting, and it started working, until today when i got the same problem. i already restored it as new and it did nothing. Please Help.

iphone 5 typing and touchscreen issue

Hi This week my iphone 5 have been presenting an issue that i have never seen in the past and is just driving me crazy, the keyboard is just working bad, everytime I type something it just write another letter or the same letter more that once, becoming very hard to type somethung.. at the same time the screen moves a little bit when i write something.. and in general the phone have a bad funcionality.. its very weird, is the second timI in two days it happens... iphone 5-Backlight turns off when I get text

I have been having an issue with my backlight turning off completely when I receive a text message on my iphone 5. It is very random. It doesn't happen every day, just once in a while. My screen will be completely off, then it will fully light up when I receive a text message, then 1-2 seconds later the backlight will go off completely but the screen will remain on. Even if I hit the home button, the backlight won't come on.  I have to hit the power button to turn the screen off, then hit the power button again to turn the screen back on, then the backlight comes back on. I don't have auto brightness or anything like that turned on. Any ideas what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Hello everyone! I've got a problem with my iphone 4S and I hope someone here can give me a hint on how to fix this... Last year in March I was on vacation in Las Vegas (I live in Austria/Europe) and bought a new unlocked iphone 4S GSM in the Apple Store in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas including AppleCare+ (I just learned that iPhones can only be serviced in the Country where they are bought - my bad). Lately I was browsing through my Apple support profile and noticed that my iphone was not registered there. So I tried to enter the serial number of the device and got this message:We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us. I knew this could not be true so I called Apple Care here in Austria and first I was told that - according to its serial number - my iphone has been replaced, and that it never should have been sold. I also was told that I have no chance of getting any service for this device despite the Care Protection Plan because the device is invalid due to its status as "replaced". And last but not least I was told that I could never receive any service for this device because American devices cannot be repaired in Europe (I was not aware of this fact and would have expected the salesperson in the Apple Store to tell me because I definitely told him that I am from Austria). Meanwhile I wrote an email to the store where I bought the iphone from but it's two days now and I have not received an answer (or any indication that my email was received) yet. Is there anything I can do? Yours,Michael

Weather app showing wrong day and temperature iphone 3G

When I check the weather in the notification tray and in the built-in weather app it says it's Sunday and the temperature is 45 degrees where I am.  That's incorrect.  It's Thursday and 67 degrees.   I also tried weather for major cities and it's showing the wrong day and temperature for them as well.  I checked Yahoo Weather and that data is correct.  I restarted my phone and at some point it showed the wrong data for my town in the local weather page, but the correct weather when I manually added my town, but when refreshing it's wrong for both. there's a number of complaints on Twitter about this.   What's going on?  How can Yahoo's weather be correct, but the iphone's wrong since the iphone weather app uses data from Yahoo?

Hi all, I have a few Audiobooks which I listen to on my iphone 3GS a lot and I put a couple more and last night I downloaded them and now they have an echo which it didnt before.  From what i have read I need to change the playback speed but from all the feedback I have seen online there is no icon on my phone at the bottom right corner I can touch to change it.  I have just about tried everything with no luck. How I get my outgoing server to work on my iphone 5

I bought my iphone 5 from Apple when it was first available. I have had an ATT acount for many years along with an MSN email account. I have had issues with sending email from my iphone 5 since I have recieved this phone. I have deleted and readded the email application numberous times(sometimes 10 times a day), I have reset my phone a number of times, I have also changed my email password a number of times and readded to both my incoming server and outgoing server passwords. I have spoken to ATT tech support, Apple Tech support and Msn tech support multiple times, they have not been able to help me. I sometimes have  gotten it to work for a few minutes to a couple of hours but as soon as I try to send an email from my phone again it will no longer send an email from my phone. I use my phone for work and this is very annoying as I have to use my email for work.I need help!  I have had Iphones since the first iphone and Mac computers for over 10 years but I am now over it, at this point I would not recommend Iphones. I am now at the point of buying a phone that I can use and it will not be an Apple iphone.

Updating from iOS 6.0.1 to 6.1.4 battery life iphone 5

Before I purchased my iphone 5 on 12/31 I read a lot of reviews saying how updating the version of iOS from the original one that comes with the iphone 5 has a bad effect on battery life. Because of the countless reviews featuring this complaint, I have never updatd my software from iOS 6.0.1 since I got my phone over 4 months ago in fear of experiencing future battery life problems. 6.1.4 came out a week or so ago and I'm wondering if the battery life issue has been addressed by now. If I choose to update, will my iphone eat up battery life faster? I am very meticulous with closing apps and being able to go over 24 hours without having to charge my iphone. Please advise. Thanks!

When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... '  I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue.  My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ?  Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i?   My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Hello, I've had my iphone 4S since July 2012 and am currently on a 2 year contract with EE in the UK. I've been having a problem for about a week now that came to my attention about last Friday.  Basically whenever I dial a number and someone picks up the phone and I begin talking, nobody can hear me? They won't hear me say anything and will simply hang up, I've recalled this happening to several people but I wasn't sure if there was a genuine fix or whether it merited getting a new handset? I've considered taking to direct to EE because the nearest Apple Store is in Manchester, and I only want to travel there if I have good reason to. Is there any known fix for this? i have tried resetting my phone by holding both buttons but have yet to do a full restore (Last resort) Just wondering if anyone knows? -Matt

Remove compass iphone 4S

As golfer I would like to use my iphone for distance measuring on the golf course instead of a dedicated Golf GPS device. there are a number of such applications avaliable. The issue is that USGA and R&A (the owner of the golf rules) will render the device (my iphone 4s) non-conforming when its a compass istalled on the device! If it would be possible to reemove the compass I can use my iphone but I'm not aware of any possibillity to do that. Is ther any?! Ideal would be if the (visuable) compass application have to be installed from Apple Store as optional in next OS version!

iphone 5 not responded when placed on flat surface. . .

Hi everyone... I want to ask question, I just realise that I Can't do anything (swipe, text, ect) when my iphone placed on the flat surface. To be able to swipe or text i must literally hold the iphone with my hand. When the iphone was placed on the flat surface (table for example), The screen do not respond at all when I just do the swipe and text with my finger (I don't touch the iphone with my hand).But when I picked up the phone and hold it with my hand, the screen began to respond to my finger,,  Anyone facing the same problem ?Do we have to hold the iphone with our hand in order to be able to swipe or text ? If anyone have the answer to this problem, please let me know, because it was so frustating now that I can't do anything when my phone was placed on the table.

iOS 6.1.3 cant send texts to people in my contact list only iMessages iphone 4

Ever since I updated my iphone 4 (GSM) to ios 6.1.3 i have been unable to 'text' people in my contact list. - I can only text new numbers that aren't in my contact list? (Even if i try and type my friends number, instead of selecting their name, i am still unable to text them - it comes up with ERROR) I can only send imessages, successfully, to people in my contacts list. Please HELP!  Thanks in advance.

iphone 5 text alert sounds are intermittent and i have tried both sounds update and minuet

i have selected the sound "update" for my text messages, and it only works intermittently all of a sudden.  i have changed sounds to "minuet" with similar problem.  i have restarted and also reset iphone 5, but still intermittent.
