Transfer photos back and forth to OS X WITHOUT iphoto or iTunes iphone 3G

I googled to no end, searched Apple support forums endlessly and you know what? Not a single simple answer can seem to be given without being redirected to something that simply does not answer THIS very specific question. Is it, or is it not possible to quickly transfer photos DIRECTLY *FROM* and *INTO* the Camera Roll WITHOUT iTunes or iphoto? Simple question yes? lol. NOPE. Reason why I ask can be simply described in short: iTunes 11.0.2, running iphone iOS 6.1; Clicking "Photos" from my iphone via iTunes, gives me ONE single option; "Sync photos from". Tried keeping it real simple. Make a folder on the desktop called iphone Photos just for quickly transfering photos back and forth and chose to synch from that. 18 photos to test. Just crap from the internet. Nothing major. Know what it does? For one, it takes 3 minutes or so to sync 18 whole photos, which is stupid but whatever. But here's the BEST part, none get sent to my Camera Roll, oh no, it makes TWO entirely new folders under it in my iphone. One being the one I made on my desktop, and the other is called Photo Library, and get this, BOTH of these have the same 18 pictures lmao. Yup. Why? Oh who cares at this point. I really just do not care. Apple. All that needs to be said. And as for iphoto. It's just an unnecessary useless program I have no intentions of ever needing. Why? I keep a crap load of various types of photos in organized folders in my Finder, and iphoto likes making sure it takes 3x longer to do that. It really just does.  Now back on point. What happened to the good old friggin days when all you had to do was DRAG AND DROP?!?!?! I legitimately am getting cancer from pondering this question.  Is there not a way to simply drag from Camera Roll somehow to the iMac, like say a specified folder. And Vice Versa from the iMac straight to Camera Roll? A nice workaround to get FROM Camera Roll TO iMac specified folder is "Image Capture" which does exactly just THAT. Quickly and painlessly transfer STRAIGHT FROM AND TO wherever. This is ridiculous. At this point, I'd pay 50 bucks for a simple app to quickly drag and drop from and to Camera Roll and bam. Done.  Sorry for the book, but this is getting ******** trying to get an answer to this and thought I would deem it necessary to be as descriptive as humanly possible.  Looking for simple answers if possible, but at least descriptive. Problem with corrupted iphone photo albums

I have a problem with my iphone "Photos" app. When I open it is see hundreds of "ghost" albums in the Albums tab. I have tried to turn off syncing photos in iTunes and then turn it back on again, and so deleting all albums and photos and then re-applying- but no luck.  I also tried to sync with an empty folder on my Mac instead of the iphoto library, but this still does not delete the albums. Anyone know how to nuke the photos on an iphone and start from scratch WITHOUT having to restore the iphone to its factory state?

Cannot Restore Corrupt Backup after upgrading to 6.1.3 iphone 4S

My wife needed to make space on her iphone because of the many videos she had on it. When she plugged the phone into our iMac, running 10.8.3, and connected to iphoto to transfer the videos over the upload started as it normally does. However, during the middle of the transfer iTunes interupted and INFORMED my wife that the phone was now upgrading to the newest software version (6.1.3)being as we usually keep our phones up to date with upgrades anyways we didnt think much of it. Unfortunately during this process the software update failed and the phone crashed. We were left with two options "restore from backup" or "restore iphone." We tried several times to restore from the backup and we received the same error message every time "iTunes could not restore the iphone because the backup was corrupt or incompatable with the iphone that is being restored." I went into my library and checked out my backups folder and I saw that there were two new backups there for my Wife's phone. One time stamped at the exact time the phone crashed and one from the last time I tried to restore(after the phone crashed). We finally decided that there must have been a glich with the softwarre download, since it didn't complete, so we decided to "Restore iphone" hoping that a corrected software would then allow us to restore from the backup properly. So the phone was wiped and reset with the new software, and we still cannot access the backup that we need. Though it is extremely frustrating that the videos of our toddler are gone, it is very important that we somehow find a way to access the information in the non corrupt backup files, her address and phone books as well as past text messages and calendars. I went to a site called iphonerecoveryonline and followed their protocol and I was able to see that all of the aboved mentioned information is still in those backups, but I have no way, with out paying these people $20 per file, to return that info to her phone. I would rather not have to pay to recover this info, but I guess that may be my only option? Any advice, experience or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Large file transfer from iphone 4S to MacBook Pro

Hello,  I have a video that's nearly 10 gigs on my iphone 4S that I can't get on to my MacBook Pro.  I've taken a few videos that are around three to six minutes and haven't had any issues.  I get a message telling me, "Error Downloading Image, iphoto can not import your photos because there was a problem downloading one of your images." I'm stumped.  I really don't want to delete and lose this video, but I can't be having a 10 gig video on my iphone forever.  Can anyone help? Thanks!

I have recently updated my phone from a 4 to iphone5 and was in the process of trying to transfer pics from old phone to mac. Now my mac will not recognize any of my devices finder, image capture, iphoto....it does however show up in itunes when plugged in. It has been really frustrating I just want to be able to import my pics from my old phone to iphoto and it is not recognizing any of the devices i plug in. Any help would be much appreciated.

It was motoring along and then stopped at the point it was installing the update. Left it there all night and still no change. I have a 16GB 4S, running iOS 6. Up till yesterday, it was syncing without any problems. Suddenly, iTunes is telling me that it cannot sync my phone because it needs an additional 4GB of space.  I did not make any changes in the iTunes setup. I do not have any photos in the phone, since I delete them as soon as iphoto does its import. Why does iTunes insist that I don't have enough space?

iphoto hangs up when trying to sync pictures from iphone

I used to be able to upload pictures from my iphone 4 (Verizon) to iphoto 6.0.6 with no problem. However, my most recent attempt to upload pictures failed after several attempts. The only thing that I recall being different since my last attempt is that I upgraded from iOS 4 to iOS 5.1.1. When I attempt to upload pictures, iphoto appears to be uploading pictures, but it hangs up or crashes about 80% of the way through the process. FYI, I use the following verisions of relevant software:  Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.5.2, and iOS 5.1.1. Anyone have any solutions and know about incompatibility between my current versions of iphoto and iOS software?   Thanks, Jeff

iphone shows wrong time of day for videos

Videos taken anywhere but in my home time zone will indicate they were shot at the wrong time -- they'll show the time at my home (CDT) not the local time (EDT, MDT or PDT) when and where the movie was shot. Screen shots also exhibit this behavior. Photos have a time stamp showing the local time as expected. This all becomes apparent when I import a mix of videos and photos taken in another time zone into iphoto which then displays items within an event out of the known sequence. When intermingled movies and pictures are taken in my home time zone then there is no discrepancy.  BTW, I have my iphone set to set the time automatically and I have iphoto on my home iMac. Also, I can see these same times when i view picture/video info with an app called Koredoko on the iphone, so I don't think it's an import/iphoto issue. Can anyone confirm that under similar circumstances that they either do or don't get the same results?

I am sure everyone who has recently upgraded their iphone to iOS6 has found out just how useless it is? I am so FRUSTRATED by just how many apps, that I use daily, crash!! Why do this Apple? It's a disgrace and I cannot do what I need to with the photographs I take!As a result of this upgrade I have had to email over 40 app developers asking them when an upgrade will be availbale so I can use their app on my iphone?Apple get your act togther and stop making huge blunders like you have with this operating system as it is a joke!!And to make matters worse iphoto and Image Capture wont recognise my phone!! I put OS 6 on my iphone and now when I receive a message that has a video, I cannottransfer the video to iphoto on my computer.  I get many videos of my one year oldgranddaughter and have always been able to transfer them to computer until OS 6.

I don't think this feature exists, but wanted to check just in case.  If it doesn't, I'd love to understand whether this is something for which there's wider interest. Like a lot of people, I use my camera for lots of things.  I take pics of things for work as well as personal stuff.  With nearly a thousand pics in memory, it'd be great if I could tag them within the phone (with the ability to retain the tags if/when their exported to iphoto on my mac), so I could search within spotlight for them.  Clearly, visually scanning tiny thumbnails on an iphone makes finding things hard.   Does this exist?  Is there anyway of doing this?  If not, anyone know if Apple is looking at including this functionality some time in the future? Cheers,GG

I just got a new iphone 4S (a replacement for a damaged iphone 4S) and am unable to sync any photo albums from iphoto onto it. When I plug in my iphone and go to the "Sync Photos" tab, alll the listed photo albums say they have zero photos in them. I think it is looking for a version of my iphoto library that no longer exists -- when my old iMac crashed late last year, I bought a new iMac and restored everything from my Carbonite backup. I had particular trouble getting my iphoto library back, and in the process I think I created a new iphoto library. Photos and albums added since the crash are NOT listed on the "Sync Photos" page. How do I get iphone to sync with my iphoto library as it currently exists?

I have an iphone 4 and I want to set it up so: 1. I do not want to automatically upload all the photos I take to iCloud. I often take 5-10 pics of the same thing over a short period of time. I would prefer to pick and choose which ones I keep and not pay Vodafone to upload all of them to iCloud. 2. I want to choose which photos I upload from the iphone into iphoto, and I want to delete the ones I decide not to keep from the iphone without uploading them to iphoto or the Mac.  How do I set this up? Thanks

I have a problem for eight months now. My iphone lasts all day on wifi, but loses a percent every 1-2 websites when loading on a 3G network? Does anybody's iphone do the same, or is it a corrupt app? I've done many restores; from backup and without backup. Same issue. I have put all of my pictures from my iphone on to iphoto to clear up some space on my phone. But I am afrid that if I delete them off my phone (they are in iphoto) that when I re-sync my phone in the futre I will lose them all. Could this happen?

Transfer iphoto files back to camera Roll iphone 3G

Hi guys. I've seen loads of posts on transfering files to imac, iphoto etc. Buy what about going the opposite way.  Here is my situation, I transfered a short 18 and 16 second video made with the iphone 4s. I normally email them back later if i want to edit etc with some apps i have on my phone to send them to friends and family. Problem is my e-mail clients are limited to the file size.  I know there is Photosync for the iphone but it isnt free and its crazy there isnt a feature to tranfer it back.  These vidoes need to be sent to the camera roll, not the Video section through itunes. I cant load the video into the video apps I have.   Any ideas or is it Photosync or nothing?

Camera Roll after iOS5 update and Photo Stream without Lion iphone 3G

After updating my iphone to iOS5 the Camera Roll album (into which photos taken with the iphone are automatically saved) completely disappeared? In its place an album named "progress-fs-import" which contained the last screen capture I did, and nothing else. My camera still took photos and infact saved them, but they were inaccessible from Photos, you could only get to them from the little previous image button in the lower left of the Camera app. Once there you could scroll through all the images taken. After activating and signing up for an iCloud account, then activating Photo Stream the photos taken by the camera are placed in a new album in Photos, the Photo Stream album. But "progress-fs-import" is still there, and it cannot be deleted. There is only one image in the folder, when I try the button that allows you to Select Photos the thumbnail gets and overlay of "PNG+XMP" ... also now that I have the Photo Stream album images saved from Safari and screenshots both automatically go into Photo Stream... there doesn't appear to be a way to get images in or out of "progress-fs-import" So, what I want is to get rid of that folder and the image in it. And I want to get the photos from my Photo Stream onto my MacBook Pro which is still running Snow Leopard. I'd be happy to connect my iphone via usb and import them into iphoto, but iphoto doesn't appear to believe there's any photos to import. Infact, I tried to be a bit sneaky and selected most of my Photo Stream photos and used the Add button to put them in an album I coincidentally named "Camera Roll" then connected my phone to my MacBook, but it still sees 0 photos to import. Does this mean the only way I can get these Photo Stream images onto my Snow Leopard laptop is to email them to myself? (Yes, I know Lion is inexpensive, and I'll go out and buy it on the weekend -- no credit card or I'd do it now -- but shouldn't the basic functionality of my phone and computer still exist after updating to advanced functions?)

Hi Like most people I have a lot of photos, not all are oraganised and in albums.  I don't have time to sit in front of the computer and organise them, so I've been organising them and putting them into albums on the iphone, however when I sync my phone with iphoto the albums are not synced. Is there a way to sync the albums created on an iphone to iphoto? p.s the photos sync fine, and any albums, events created using iphoto are also fine when syncing. Thanks,

I want to dwnld unsynced images B4 restoring the phone. Phone is frozen so can't download straight into iphoto or ImageCapture. I trawled the net and followed suggestions such as trying to back it up via Ctrl-click in Devices on iTunes but only says 'open in new window' and 'Eject iphone' - no backup option. Have also looked for the 'Mobilesync' bkup folder in Library too but not there. either.  Any ideas please? At a loss and really don't want to lose images in particular. Many thanks.

How I sync videos originally shot with iphone from iphoto Mac OS X 10.7.3 back to my photo app on iphone 4s iOS 5.1

I recorded videos using my iphone then imported them to iphoto on my macbook pro.  Now I want to sync the same videos back to the factory photo app on my iphone 4s.  Ive tried selecting "Include videos" under the photo sync tab.  Then I tried syncing it to my iphone as a movie under the movie tab... That worked except it was in my Videos app and not back in the factory photos app where I need it to be!!! Any suggestions how to get Videos back to the Photo app like I can do with the Pictures???

I am trying to upload picture to facebook and I was able to select an album and hit "share" but in the end I got this error "The operation couldn't be completed. (facebookErrDomain error 10000). I am disappointed because I pay for iphoto and I have to use this buggy software.

Help iphone 4s non-responsive. I've tried all obvious fixes.

So my iphone 4s is not responsive. On about 50% charge, it just went black. It won't reboot using the home/power button combination, and does not display the charging icon when I plug it in. When I connect to the computer, it does not appear in iTunes under "Devices." The only sign of life is that it appears as a Device in iphoto, and I was able to upload recent photos to my computer, even though the phone itself appears dead. Any advice or thoughts about how to remedy this situation?

How to retrieve lost data from iphone

first off, something strange happened Nov 20, 2011 because that is the day my voicemail stopped working. ATT and APPLE could not figure out how to solve the problem - so I just had no voicemail until yesterday. My iphone 4s' volume button broke, so I took it into the APPLE store to get a new phone. I backed up before I took the phone in, because I was pretty sure they would replace my phone - which they didWhen I restored the phone to the 'most recent' back up, I lost ALL the data on my phone after Nov 20, 2011. All my texts, all the data about my baby that I have been keeping in a baby app - basically any app info. Even my camera roll reverted back to the way it was on Nov 20. (fortunately I had saved my pics to iphoto - so nothing really lost there)I don't understand where all the info went when I backed up RIGHT before I went to the apple store. I have looked on my computer and found the back up file, but I don't know what to do with the info in there. Oddly, I can't find a back up for 4/2/12 - the day I did the back up, but there are several back ups in March.. which would be better than the NOV back up. *** happened?  Why is any info after NOV just GONE?please help

Plugging in iphone no longer opens iTunes or iphoto

Running OS X Lion (10.7.3) on new iMac. Not sure what changed recently but now, when I plug in my iphone, it does not sync with iTunes, nor does it open iphoto to import photos. In fact, it doesn't recognize that the iphone is plugged in at all, but the phone does charge of course. I already ran through these steps on the Apple site a couple of times (http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_1) but to no avail. Anyone know what's happening and how I can fix it?

After creating a new album, all the photo in it get duplicated, once in the app iphoto. And keep duplicating every time the app updates the library! Now it's #12! Feels like the magician in "Fantasy" Disney's movie!  Note: luckily they are duplicated just in the app iphoto, not in the default image app.

Hi all. I updated my iphone 4S to iOS 5.1 to be able to install the latest iphoto app.Well , i tried to Edit a photo, and there where no cancel button so i hit x and there where no warning for deleting it..Lost in iphoto, visible in camera roll, found under changed photos in iphoto but.. Egen accessed, Its a blank screen. Prior to that the index of camera roll in iphoto was not updated automatically. So i could see the deleted picture there. Trying to click it, and it shows the first picture in camera roll instead. I cant find anywhere to report these bugs but in my oppinion these are serious bugs!! Comments and feedbacks pls.

My iphoto crashes after 5 seconds on iphone 4S

Im running 5.0.1 OS on iphone 4S , just have downloaded iphoto , but seems like something went wrong , when i open the app from my home screen it does open for like 5-9 seconds showing the interface , but not showing any pics from my photo library or folders then it crashes , + ( sometimes before crashing it says) updating photo library , just for 1 seconds loading bar then crashes , tried deleting all photos i had on my library and formating my photostream and everything in my albums and restarting phone but still nothing happens also tried deleting app.iphoto.mobile by iExplorer  , iphoto just keeps crashing like this , is there any solution ?  thanks in advance
