I am in south Africa and my only means with communication back in the States was through iMessagea and FaceTime over wifi. They have been working fine for the past 3 weeks and all of a sudden they have both stopped working and say waiting for activation. I am using the same wifi I have been and I have a strong signal. I have also tried turning wifi off, iMessage off, and FaceTime off and resetting the networks, it didn't work. Any ideas on how to fix this? I just don't know why it would be working fine then all of a sudden stop!

Hi all, I'm in south africa. Just got my new iphone 5 and was very excited. Took it out of the box and started charging and from the moment that the phone switched on and I tried completing the wizard, the **** phone starting clicking(touching) all over the screen by its self!!! It activated the zoom function and auto zoomed everywhere. Couldn't do anything with it. So i left the phone and hooked up itunes to update software from 6.0.2 to 6.1 - this is thought solved the problem.. The phone seemed okay after that, but noooooo it wasn't. It just does what it wants sometimes. Typing for me and touching all over and making life ****.  What i have noticed is that the phone ( which I'm using to post this now ) is okay most of the day, except first thing early mornings when the phone was left alone overnight. Once i wake up and check my phone it starts going heywire again... So i immediately just press the off button to kill the screen. Leave it for a while and then try again - doing this over and over until the phone stops its nonsense. Then it seems its okay during the day when its warmer... Weird as **** and very annoying.  Has anyone had the same issue?? I can't find any related iphone problem, except for 2004 posting of ipad doing this... Please help Regards, Dewald

iphone 4-Battery Replaced Constant reboot No Service Wi-fi Swith Grey

Hi, My iphone 4 was purchased on a contract basis from Vodacom (south Africa) in August 2011, during January this year my phone kept restarting by itself.It eventually got worse that I had to use my Mophie Juicepack in order for my phone to operate, but my phone ocassionaly would startup and there would be No Service and the Wi-fi switch was grey.Doing a restart with the Power & Home button has not worked nor has a fresh new restore of iOS 6.1.3 and I have reset the phone to factory default settings including erasing all existing data & media etc. My warranty has expired thus I sent my iphone 4 for a battery replacement from an authorised Apple agent here in south Africa.Thinking it would solve my problem...it did not. My phone still restarts by itself and occasionally does not even power ON unless I plug it in via the USB charger which doesn't help much because there would be No Service and the Wi-fi switch was grey. I have never dropped my iphone and it has no exterior damage at all nor has it ever been Jailbroken. Please suggest any solutions, I have tried every option possible from forums etc.

In the past when an update for an app on my iphone 4S was avaialble I would just click on 'update' & the update will be downloaded to my iphone.Now when I click on 'update' a window with the following message appears: "Your account is not valid for use in the USA store. You must switch to the south African store before purchasing." I am in south Africa but have never experienced the above before  - PLEASE ADVISE. I can do the update in iTunes on my iMac & then sync my iphone but am not always at my iMac to do juts that & want to do the update directly from my iphone. Many thanks. 330djp

Apple not want to cover guarantee on audio module failure I-Phone 4S

I subscribed to the AT&T phone service and got the I-phone 4S still under guarantee until May 10, 2013.The problem started around December 09th, 2012 with:- the ringer started to generate a loud popping sound at every ring when there are incoming calls, - Later I discovered that the audio did not work for you-tube clips and Quicktime videoclips - The screen blacked out during phone conversations (it did not happen before) so I cannot type a note or check email during the calls.- During the phone conversation I cannot change the screen applications; as it is locked and blacked out.I then brought the I-phone to the AT&T, who explained to me that the I-Phone technical problems must be handled by Apple, so I went to the Apple store in the south Center mall in Washington the same day, December 28th, 2012. The technician there told me to make an appointment.On December 30th I went to the Apple store in Bellevue Square Washington, the first technician there told me that my I-Phone got “water damage”.  The second technician told me that it was not caused by water damage but there are too many issues going on at the same time, and possibly by resetting the I-Phone everything should be in order; to that all pictures and some of my data was lost during the reset process; but the problems remain and worsen:  My I-Phone intermittently shut itself down.today Wednesday January 23, 2013 I return to the Apple store in Bellevue Square and meet with the technician Ian Cochran-Keith who diagnoses the issues; he mentions that my I-Phone connectors got “corroded” due to “water damage” and proposes to me two solutions:- The audio module needs repair and the cost is 59$ but the issue could come back or- Pay 199$ and get a new I-Phone.(See attached note #3 from the technician) I would like to present my formal request to Apple to honor the quarantee on my I-Phone and fix the issue of missing audio on videoclips also the screen black-out during phone conversation, beyond that the phone is working ok, I can still receive calls, make calls and other applications with Safari internet surfing . I never have a problem with my I-Phone regarding any “water damage”. What “Water Damage” the technician is reffering to?  Falling in water? Rain? My phone was never exposed to rain or falling in any water or subject to any water contact since I got it, so what “water damage” the technician is referring to?  If there is water damage I am certain that it wouldn’t work at all, I would get nothing. I do not agree to pay for the audio module change or to pay for a new I-Phone as it is still under guarantee. I expect Apple to reply to me with a favorable answer and fix my I-Phone per the guarantee Sincerely Note: This letter is copied to the www.bbbsilicon.org also to the consumer protection websites #43187808

But when he returned to the states his contact message is his email not his US cell number and I have tried to go into setting then messages to change his send and recieve to his US number but it only shows his email which he is using now and his south American phone number beacuse he used his phone while he was back home. How can we fix his phone to where his messages don't come from his email or his south American number but from his US cell phone number because there is no slot to fix it or add only to delete the email address and his south American number cannot be clicked. my replacement iphone 5 refurbished. Will production date change on refurbished model

I brought a iphone 5 from apple online and received it on Monday 24th Sept 2012 Serial number: C39JDY5RDTWD Production year: 2012 Production week: 37 (September). I had a problem with the screen so went to my local apple store. They found a fault & swapped it for a "white box" model. 24th October 2012 Serial number: C39JJD3JDTWD Production year: 2012 Production week: 41 (October).  Now given there is around 4 weeks difference in production date. Is it likely that I have a new model and not a refurbished model? And will they give a new serial number if its a refurbished model? I would like to believe I have a new model as it would of taken days to ship. My first iphone would of been made before anyone had their first iphone and the 2nd replacement. Network unlocking problem iphone 4

Hi, I have purchased a second hand iphone 4 from the UK which was network locked to "3 Network". The original owner of the phone has requested the network to officially unlock the phone which has been done and confirmed. I brought the phone back home to south Africa and it didn't work with my home network SIM card (Vodacom). To activate the phone I had to get a prepaid 3 SIM card brought from the UK. What I have now is an iphone with iOS 6 which can't make any calls or SMS's because my Vodacom SIM card still isn't working in the phone even after activation. The phone definitely works because I can pickup a signal with my 3 card, but I can't seem to unlock the phone and get it to accept my Vodacom SIM. It either says "No Service" or "Invalid SIM". I have tried another SIM in the phone and I get the same problem and I have tried my Vodacom SIM in another phone and it works so there are no issues with the SIM card itself. At this point I am out of options so if anyone can help I'd much appreciate it. Thanks

I'm using iphone 4 16G black in korea. I visited a outsource customer service center, TUVA, in Samsung to get a reaper service for my iphone.I requested changing my iphone to engineer and they tested my mobile then changed my mobile.But, i'm not satisfied to my changed phone because of color sense. The changed my phone screen looks yellow.So, i requested again to change my phone.But, the engineer said it is not a reason to change the phone against apple's policy and this policy is described in the manual guide.So, i requested it to find this policy and engineer said "you can find the policy with the apple korea service engineer"I called to apple korea and requested the policy. But, this apple korea engineer said "i can not find your policy and i do not know the policy is described in manual"So, i explained this to Tuva engineer and he said "i did not said the policy about refusing reaper service for yellow color screen is not described in manual guide".He lied me in order to pass just the my questions. Also, when i gave some questions about apple's policy and why this phone can not be changed, he just said "becuase of apple's policy!!"I think if i have questions why i can not get the service, the engineer is supposed to explain why i can not get the service. But, he just ignored my questions and said "becuase of apple's policy!!".I think he do not have the engineer mind and customer service mind.Engineer meeting with end users is supposed to have the service mind in order to make customer satisfaction and he need to have knowledgebase about iphone and guide book and policy of Apples and must not lie to customers. If you want to get further specific information, please let me know.   Thanks,

some korean bought iphone 5 GSM A1429 oversea such as AU , GE and JP. they bought iphone 5 in another country, not the korea. Because, iphone 5 GSM A1429 contains some LTE bands Band 1,3,5. And then, they think korea Carriers (SKT , KT) can support LTE Bands 3,5. That's why they bought and wanted using LTE service in the korea. but iphone 5 cannot catch LTE Band 5 (850 Mhz). they guess GE iphone support only Band 1 / AU iphone support only Band 3.  ----------------------------------------------------- Q1. Dose any iphone 5 GSM A1429's LTE band support own conutry band only? Ex 1.) GE is using band 1 for LTE. So, GE's iphone 5 GSM A1429 is supporting only Band 1.Ex 2.) AU is using band 3 for LTE. So, AU's iphone 5 GSM A1429 is supporting only Band 3. ----------------------------------------------------- Q2. If Q1 is correct, why does iphone 5 CDMA A1429 contain LTE Bands 1,3,5,13,25? Because, iphone 5 CDMA A1429 is for Verizon, Sprint and KDDI only. According to Apple, the model A1429 (GSM) is the one for south korea- LTE bands 1 (2100 MHz), 3 (1800 MHz) and 5 (850 MHz).When I return to the US in 2014 will I be able to use it on Verizon and sprint's network? I noticed that the LTE band 1, 3 and 5 are also supported by those two US carriers.  However, those two carriers use a different platform/technology (CDMA).I am positive that the A1429 GSM will use a nano sim card.  What about the CDMA? Please clarify.I am contract free as of yesterday and able to go with either of the carriers and be able to factory unlock it before my departure in January 2013. However, the hardware must work in korea and in the US. Another option that I am considering is a factory unlocked iphone 4S, but I cant find a 32GB.  I am very reluctant with this option as I am afraid that when I return to the US (Jan 2014) things will drastically change and I wont be able to enjoy the new advancements in the mobile tech world because I have a hardware that wont handle them. Hi, I'll be flying to korea within 6 hours, and I have an important question that needs answer asap. I heard iphone automatically keeps its service in foreign country, in my case korea, and as a result, it charges very expensive fee for such service. However I do not wish to have iphone to be work, I just need it's wireless function to work, not the phone function such as calling and text msging. Because if someone from U.S. texts/calls me while I'm in korea, the fee will be huge.. Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

Apparently the "motherboard" may be a problem. I have taken my phone to several shops. The only places in Qatar that seemed to be able to help was a small little "Vodafone" shop in the Villagio Mall or a run-down villa in Al Sadd. However, they both said that they can't help me because I did not get the phone from them. Despite the "International Warranty" it appears that  Apple seriously expects their customers to buy a ticket back to the country of origin (in my case south Africa) just to claim a warranty for their Apple Products?! Any suggestions please?

I have a factory unlocked iphone 4 purchased through Vodacom in south Africa, there's no carrier locking associated with it. It's not purchased at a corner shop with a hacked unlock or jailbreak, or anything like that. This is a completely legitimately purchased iphone bought directly through one of the country's largest cellular providers. I moved to the USA early last year, and bought a Simple Mobile SIM card, which I've been using since that time without any issue. However, after updating to 5.1.1 this morning, the phone gives a "SIM Failure" message, and reads "Invalid SIM" in the top left. I've tried restarting the phone several times, even removing and replacing the SIM card. Any ideas why this would be happening? Do I need to get a new SIM card through Simple Mobile? Any help appreciated.
