When a call or text is coming throug there is no sound. The settings seem fine. When I switch the side button to red nothing happens. What used to happen would be the bell sign would come up with a line through it indicating the ringer was switched off but now nothing happens whichever way I switch it. Vibrate is switched on in settings but it isn't vibrating either. Interestingly the alarm is working so the sounds are not completely gone. I have powered it off an back on etc., but it hasn't made any difference. Any advice. Thanks Paula
My iphone 5 recently started having problems with the ringer. The ringer will be turned all the way up, the mute button is NOT being used and the phone will not ring for calls or alert for texts. It is not always happening, but more so than not. I have tried rebooting the phone, the OIS is up to date and I do not have the "Do Not Disturb" set. I can be in the same spot with LTE and full signal have a call/text that is missed then receive a call/text and it rings. Does not seem to matter if the call is coming from a land line, same Verizon carrier cell or different carrier cell there is no noticable reason. Any ideas???
Do not buy Apple product in Belgium, there is no support!!! So, here it goes: Three day ago I bought an iphone 5, at a Mobistar shop in Belgium. 700 euros. Unfortunaly, it has a defective screen, light bleeding at the top of the screen. So I went back to the shop, to get an exchange. But no, they refused. They have to send it back to Apple for repair. It will take three weeks. But I can't stay 3 weeks without a phone. And I can't just pop the sim card into an old phone, either: it's a micro-sim, and the iphone is the only one who uses that... Except maybe if I buy another new, top of the line phone... And I don't have the money to do that... So I call Apple, directly: "Did you buy it on our website? Sorry, nothing we can do. You have to go through the operator." So basically, I am screwed. I have to keep the defective iphone. Thank you Apple Belgium! Thank you Mobistar!
Can anyone please help me understand what this line may be?It appears on screen when I take pictures and on the actual pictures as shown.If I zoom in a little it disappears and if I turn the camera to face me, even without zooming in, it doesn't show. Thanks for you help.

A weird rectangular, transparent, shield has appeared "above" any key selected from lock code to apps that blocks any tapping on any keys or keypad.If I tap hard and fast, it might catch but then enters the number, or whatever, multiple times (cause of rapid tapping). This has happened 6 times since March, where I've had to fully restore factory setting. First time, didn't know had to manually back up apps, dir., etc., so had to re-build it all 1st time. Since, same weird transparent shield appears, then no button will "select" or function until full restore. Because after rapid tapping, hard, one might stick, after 1, 2, 3, Dozentaps, it proves something transparent is blocking (the rectangle appears as a fine point box line hovering above anything I tap). This last time, the full restore put it back, and the problem is still there.Am back on my old 4S, which I kept, as spare (amazingly) until a fix. Will prolly have to send it in on a slow boat to China, where itwas made, which is gonna be quicker than a repair job, I'm sure. Nothing like this comes up on the forum, any advice is well appreciated.Thank you kindly.

Okay, so lets see if this works. So I've had my iphone 4 for about a year and a half, I've never really had issues beside the normal glitching and having calls drop here and there. Recently I've had an issue with my iphone connecting with just one individual. Yes, I know it sounds weird but keep reading. I have been able to make calls and recieve phone calls fine, however I cannot with just one single individual. They to also only have the same problem with me, however the only difference is they can hear me but I cant hear them or anything. We're able to text and send picture messages without any issues. Now sometimes when I try to call them, itll ring twice and then the line just goes dead, but thats usually them picking it up. I cannnot hear them at all. I've already done the reset on my phone and I've already contacted apple about this issue and their about as lost as I am because it doesnt make sense that this is only happening with one individual. I've also blew out the speakers and such like people have suggested. I use my head phones that came with my speaker, and ive connected and reconnected them incase my iphone thought they were plugged in. Let me give you a little bit more info. They have an android phone, we have the same carrier which is verizon and they live in another state (not sure if thats helpful). I'm completely lost because this has been going on for about 4 days now and its driving me crazy. This happened a few weeks ago, however it magically fixed its self ( im thinking it was because I had bad service). If anyone has any solutions that might help, please, please let me know.
I have noticed for the past few weeks that whenever I bump my iphone 4S or put it down on a countertop / desk / bed or really any surface with less than the most possible care, it will vibrate and show the bell with a diagonal line through it. It isn't due to a notification. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? It seems to have been a recent onset. I run an unlocked iphone 4S on T-mobile in an Otterbox defender case. This seems to be since the t-mobile update.

I have an issue where the phone worked fine - zero issues, I took a call, hung up then the screen became a line that looks like the apple logo motion blurred from the top to bottom then fades to vertical lines of blue and black. No restores resolve it. I have tried all angles of resetting it. To me it looks like the screens are woking but the os is bugging out... I can reset, reboot, restore and it goes throught the strange black and white screen (obviously the apple logo startup screen - then goes to the multicolored line screen - which is some freaked out version of the home screen.
My wife has a iphone 4s 16 GB phone that she has had for about 16 months. It is out of warrantee now and go figure now it is having issues with the screen. On a daily basis, the screen shows strange colored lines. But they aren't straight across the screen, they seem to follow borders between different colors, like a contour line. And sometimes the entire image on the screen starts to jitter up and down. These can be temporarily fixed by pressing on the display, typically near the earpiece. I've opened it up and pressed on the display connector to make sure it is in tight, but the issue still shows up. I would think that being able to clear the issue by pressing on the display rules out any software issues, but the way the discoloration behaves is sure strange. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Hi,I have an iphone 5 and Macbook Pro 13" Retina. I "imessage" from both, and it worked smoothly before but now I am starting to have some problems.. First of all, on my Macbook, I can imessage people easily, but whenever I send it from my laptop, it does not sync to my phone. When i try to send a imessage from my phone, it says delivered, but the person on the other line sends back their answer in regular "text" form for EVERY one of their replies . It has been happening for a couple of days now and it is getting really annoying... Any ideas? Thanks!
Suddenly it's gotten so that my iPhone4S (on Verizon) isn't ringing when Bluetooth is on. It does get calls on the screen and it does make sound otherwise. I turn Bluetooth off, and it always rings now.I suspect this may be particular with the Pansonic land-line headset/bluetooth connection I use. It was great when working in that my land lines would ring (with the sound of my cell ringtone no less) and I could get cell calls on any headset in the house. It used to work all the time (For several months at least and perhaps my bluetooth on this phone isn't as strong as the old 3GS?)Something to look out for if your phone stops ringing and can't otherwise be explained or fixed by resets etc.
I don't understand. Is there a question in there somewhere? Or are you just benefitting us with this arcane bit of trivia on the inner workings of the phone? Cause Apple doesn't read these forums. Except for the invisible moderator who's only apparent job is to zap you if you get out of line. We're just ordinary customers with nothing better to do to while the time away. What we may think or do is of little concern to Apple (provided we continue buying the goods).
HI everyone (I'm not an english people so i hope you will understand that i write). Today, i download a free app but in reality it's a spyware and my iphone is not the same since i download this app.I Reset many times my iphone (it's an iphone 4S) with itunes without conservation but i think it did not work. More precise, it's not a jailbreak iphone so people told me download CYLAY but only if it's a jailbreak iphone and it's not, what it possible to do to delete everything and be sure it's ok. The app download call Avast! secure line VPN but it's not really avast it's a spyware and many people download it and have problems next. Thansk for your help and i hope you understand me.
I currently have a several year old Samsung Flyte phone. I am included with my wife's account under the AT&T family plan. My "line" has no data plan linked to it - her iphone 4S and her sister's iphone 3 do. The contract with AT&T for my phone/line expired several months ago. I'm thinking about upgrading to an iphone 4, but I don't want to give up my existing phone number. And, I understand that the iphone uses a micro SIM card - different that other manufacturer's phones. I'm pretty sure that I'll need to add a data plan to my "line" - not a big deal. Ideally, we want to add another line to the wife's plan (without data) and give the Samsung phone to her mom, who lives with us. But, I do not want to loose my phone number. We want my new iphone to have my existing phone number and the Samsung for her mom to have a new number. Is this possible?
hi all ive tryed to look on line and cant find nothing on this matter hopefully someone can help me i had the iphone 5 and my network kept going i rang my network and said all was fine so i ended up getting rid i have no bought a new iphone 5 and yet again doing the same thing ive been in the 02 and all is fine ive rang apple and cant talk to me as i bought the phone of a mate of mine they will only put it in my namr if i no his email and number which i dont have.. when he got the phone he regisered it in his name is there any way i can change this to me i can use me user id and stuff but when ringin apple there asking for the email of my mate i dont have thanks

My iPhone5 was working perfectly fine one day. Then I try to reboot my phone, and for some reason it couldn't get past the apple logo. If it did get past the apple logo, one of four things would happen. A.) The apple logo will fade to blue, and reboot over and over again. B.) The apple logo will disappear and the entire screen will turn completely red. C.) The apple logo will just appear and reappear over and over again.D.) I didn't have a lot of my things backed up, so I lost a lot of things I had on there. My phone seemed to be perfectly fine, no errors. It ran smoothly for about 12 hours. Then the same thing happened again. I don't understand why this happened again. I mean I restored my phone completely and all. It just makes no logical sense to me. I just wanted to know what I could do about this. I have Applecare, but I would still have to spend 200 dollars if I need to get a new phone. I don't feel that is right if the phone has factory errors or something. If I could get a clear response on what this is, why it's happening, and how it could be fixed, I will be a very happy young lady. Thank you!
hello everybody, until just recently my iphone 4s home button was perfectly fine. Now, it feels like it below the glass or stuck down a little . My friends iphone doesnt have that problem and mine is newer than his. His home button is perfectly in line with the glass and feels right. Why doesnt mine? Please anyhelp will be aprecciated. Thanks

Hi, (iphone 4 16gb)I recently had to change the front screen with a replacement set, I did everything to A standard,all the cables correctly connected etc, but when i try to turn the phone ON it does nothing.I plugged it into a wall main charger and now it turns on/off every 10seconds only reaching the apple logo boot.It has not once booted to the main screen. Before all this the iphone was bought second hand, its legit but had a damaged screen, withthe screen displaying red lines anywhere with light with the brightness flashing when bright. Now it looks to be fixed, since the apple logo previous on boot had a red line through the centre, but now has totally gone. I know this forum does not support people fixing there own iphones, but its not in warranty and i cant afford to buy a new one just yet. Does anyone know whats happening.Simply it only boots when connected to a power source, lasts for around 5-8seconds on apple logo, switches off and does the whole process again.I cannot simply hold down the power and home to get DFU mode since it restarts too fast.
I attempted to update to the latest software update for my iphone 4s. BIG MISTAKE. I don't know how to contact Apple as my phone does not work. Its late at night so I cant even go into a store. The reason is that the update did not work. Now my phone is not registered on my iTunes account and I can't seem to even restore the settings. How the **** am I suppose to contact with a phone I cant even switch on? Can't even find a complaint line to contact / email. Not very happy at all.
I hva a iphone 4S unlocket (can i use with any carrier) and yesterday bought a micho-SimCard int T-Mobile. The phone reconize the microSimCard, becaus in the opción "Settings->Carrier" appears a line "T-Mobile". I Had chosen the option but it doesn't work.
I like my Iphone5 but I've already had two of them due to defective speaker modules. The symptoms are that your external speaker will begin to crackle and fail and you won't be able to hear conversations well or music. Then, the speaker will just stop working. You can still listen to music and use your phone using the headphone jack and earphones but there will be no SPEAKER function. This is a known issue with the Iphone5. Here is how to remedy it: 1. Make an appointment on line with your nearest Apple store for the GENIUS BAR. 2. Bring your receipt when you go and make sure you have backed up your phone to the Icloud or to your home computer BEFORE you go in.3. Make sure you know your Apple ID and password because you'll need it to log in to your new phone.4. They will either replace the faulty speaker module with a new and improved version OR they will give you a new phone. I am a Verizon customer so I sent my first phone back to Verizon and they sent me a new (refurbished phone). It only lasted a month and that speaker gave up the ghost. I made an appointment with Apple and they diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes. They were out of stock in Albuquerque of the speaker modules so I got a brand new phone with a new and improved speaker module. If your speaker has stopped working, don't bother with any of these tips and tricks, just go to APPLE and let them figure it out. They'll stand behind the product and fix it or replace it. Hello, I have a problem about my wife's white iphone5. I bought it in line for a whole day last Septemper. She loves it so much. But yesterday she accidentally scratched the APPLE logo on the back of iphone5. She felt very sad, and hope me can do something for her. I know it's impossible to exchange a new one. On February 11th I purchased the black/slate iphone 5 from an APPLE Authorized Reseller (iStore Tunisia) at full retail price. It's been three weeks now. Yesterday after removing the case for the first time ever(i didn't use it without a case) I noticed some scuffs and dents on the lower part, they are really ugly! So I called iStore, they advised me to go the nearest iStore. So after 1 hour of waiting in line they told that they need to contact Apple first before replacing my iphone because they cannot do anything without contacting Apple. They told me that me they will call me after two days. What if Apple denies the replacement? Can I get a full refund since I am still within 30 days of its purchase? I am really not satisfied this iphone 5:( sorry for my English.
Dear all, Ever since I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS6 (which apparently in many aspects is a bad decision), I discover my contacts are emptied from time to time. It is apparent in occasions when there are apps needing to access the contact list (with instant messenging apps like Whatsapp, line etc, or even the Contacts App itself), and once the disappearing happens, I need to wait the contact list updates (downloads) itself with the entries from iCloud. I also believe the same happened in the background when I do not notice it, because I usually set different ringtones for certain people in my contact list, when the list goes empty and is filled again back from icloud, I will lose all ringtone settings. So I believe this irritating bug must be happening few times everyday sometimes without me noticing. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, and would like to see if Apple would be able to do something about it. This is annoying because if I input a new contact on my phone through the contact app, when this bug happens, I will definitely lose the newly added entries. So to be safe, now when I need to add a new contact, I have to do it on a computer, accessing icloud.com and add directly to the icloud records. It's the first problem I experienced with my iphone for the years I have used the iphone products, but is also a critically fatal one...

I know the apps store will not give me an old version,that is why i do not use my Mac or iMac to replace the application however this has also been updated on my Macs. I reiterated in my message yesterday that,it is not that what you asked me to do is not working or i did not follow your instructions into details. I did follow every steps you stated. The end result is that, WHEN IT REACHES DATA MIGRATION,THE SCREEN WILL BE BLACK OR LIGHT BLUE BLACK,WITH A WHITE SCROLLING line THREAD ON THE DEVICE SCREEN,MEANING MIGRATION IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. THIS WILL MOVE FOR ABOUT 2 or 3SECONDS,AND IT WILL CRASH. I have tried this several time,i do not mind starting all over again,i just want it to work with iCloud. There's an event in my iphone 4s calendar that I can't edit or delete. There is no edit button in the upper right as there is for other events. Also, there's a line that says "Accepted" followed by my name. When I look at my iCloud calendar on my PC, the event isn't there. Even after synching my phone, it doesn's appear on my PC. When I go to iTunes>info>calendar it says that no calendar application is recognized and that my calendar is synched by iCloud. I don't know how this event got into my iphone calendar--it wasn't something I accepted from an email (it's a doctor apppointment) but I would appreciate advice about how to get it out.Thanks!

After I dropped my iphone 5 about 4 days ago I'm experiencing problems while I want to make outgoing calls. Wifi is still working 3G connectivity is working my iphone is able to identify my service provider and I am able to answer incoming calls my only problem is that my iphone is immediately dropping my outgoing calls which renders me incapable of calling someone. As I was checking my iphone I realized that as I shake it I hear a small sound in its upper half that is next to the lock button I held the device firmly and made sure neither the volume buttons the silent ringer nor the lock button were moving and I still heard the small sound.I tried rebooting my device several times and nothing happened. I also tried my line on another phone and it worked as it should I( I was able to make outgoing calls) What do you think ? I really need your help
updated to the 6.1 last week. I have a app for a local news paper that I pay a monthly fee to read on line and now since the update I have to sign in every time I read a diffrent article. What changed?
Hi! My husband's iphone 4s was in roaming configuration for 15 months. He recently got home and he then upgraded his software to IOS 6.1, problems star to pile up! His signal was becoming unstable, he cannot be contacted even there is a signal provided by his carrier. Another is, whenever he makes a call, he can hear the other line but the one he's calling cannot hear him then the line will instantly cut. Battery life also becomes a pest! Even if you don't use the mobile, the battery keeps on deteriorating on a high speed. How can we fix it? thanks!

I have an Apple 4 I phone. I recently downloaded the update to IOS 6 and immediately afterwards my phone started acting up. During a phonecall, the microphone (speaker) seems to disconnect. I can hear the other person but suddenly they no longer can hear me. I have hit the "speaker button" to see if that would change things but it does not. The only thing that appears to be wrong is they no longer can hear me.I use this phone as my primary phone. I have done the reset. I have done everything I can think off. Occassionally if I turn it off for about 5 minutes the thing will work properly again. So I did it this time. I then called Apple Support line to ask them how to fix the problem and guess what....... they could not hear me So I assuming I got a bad update or something is wrong with the software. So how do I reinstall IOS 6 or is that what I should do? Thanks in Advance.
My britness on my iphone 5 was on 100 % and I turn my screen off and after 10min i turn it back on and the screen was on 0% while the britness line on settings was on 100% is it an IOS 6 bug or is my iphone broking???
Today when I woke up I saw that Apple had released a new update for iphone4. I downloaded the update but it when it got to the apple logo screen it didnt wanna come back on. Everytime I turn my phone off I have to put it back on iTunes to turn it on it always get stuck at the apple logo. Yet this time it wouldnt come back on. I left it pluged up to iTunes while I went to church. I came back it was still at the same point. So i held down the lock button and home button then put it back on iTunes and it still havent worked. Im siting here watching it and while it keeps doing the same thing one of the times this red/yellow line came across the sceen and then went black then back to the apple logo. HELPPPPPP me please!!!!

I was using iOS 6.0.1 i guess and even tried upgrading to current 6.1 multiple times. Did the restore as new and old phone. Hard reset. But the wifi button is still grey. It was working fine and suddenly went off line. Bluetooth and GPS are working and its even showing mac address. Asif
Hi,I have an iphone 4 its battery is empty when i used to switch it on fromthe power button it gave the battery with the red line.But after one hour when i pressed the power button it didnt switch on anddidnt give me anything and screen is black.I plugged it to the wall socket and it didnt turn on and i have waited 15minutes and didnt turn on after that i wanted to check if the usb cable isworking i connected it to the computer it gave a sound as if a device isconnected it says device not recognized and i checked if the adapter isworking and all is fine.I then left the mobile for 30 mins to charge from the wall socket but itstill didnt turn on what may the be please tell me fast.I want to tell you also that i have tried holding the power button and thehome button and didn't get any result.Nothing appears on the screen even the battery logo or the apple logo.andits not turning on.
Hi - I purchased a 4S iphone in Thailand about three weeks ago while I was on vacation there. Three days later while I was already away from Thailand a pixel on the left side of the screen busted and a horizontal line is now across my screen. On my way back from Thailand had enough time to stop by the Apple store in Hong Kong and the tech support team there told me that only an Apple store in Thailand can help me replace or fix my phone at possible no charge. I called the apple retail store in Bangkok and the sales person told me I only had 15 days to return the phone to him for a possible exchange. I live in China and I am not planning on traveling to Thailand just for the phone. What are my options to have the screen either replace or fix? Thanks, Rene
