no wifi icon but am online iphone 5
my iphone 5 starting acting up lately. i am online but there is no wifi icon on top. when i checked the speed of my router, macbkpro will register 3mbps., ipad2 will register 2.3mbps and my iphone 5 will have a measly .35mbps. taking into consideration that my ipad 2 has the wifi issues because of ios6 which was much discussed here in the forum. i have mentioned before that before ios6, my ipad has better signal than my iphone. but after ios 6, iphone5 showed better signal with the same set of circumstances of the router. 3g signal is very good but there is frequent failure or delay in sending text messages and frequent dropped or choppy signal of phone calls.what is wrong with my phone. should i have it exchanged?

Hello, I currently have an iphone 4s 16 GB and am quickly running out of storage space. I only have about 700 MB of space remaining and my "Other" category is taking up 6.27 GB of space! I believe that most of this is because of my text messages; I have never deleted any of them and I'm in a group message that easily accumulates over 150 texts per day, so I need space, and fast!!! I have read about several programs and am definitely willing to buy one, but I would like first-hand information about these programs. I'm looking for a program that will save my SMS, MMS, and iMessage text messages to my MackBook so that I can delete them from my iphone. I would need a program that will save the messages permanently. I want to be able to save the messages to the program, delete them from my phone, connect my phone to the program at later dates and save additional messages, and not lose any messages at all. I don't want an app that I can only save messages to once because if I try to save more, it gets rid of the old ones and only saves the new ones. I'm not sure how any of the programs work as far as that goes, so if anyone could reccommend a program to me that would do what I'm looking for, I'd GREATLY appreciate it!!! Really hot iphone iphone 5
I just bought an iphone 5 this past Friday for my first smartphone with Verizon, and I have been pretty happy with it so far, though I haven't been using it too heavily. Today, I had it with me all day long, and it seemed like the more I used it, it got pretty hot. Even hot to the point where I couldn't hold it in my hand in an air conditioned room. When this started to happen, I noticed a small spot in the upper right hand corner of the screen that turned yellow, almost like a sunspot. Seeing that, I turned it off for a bit, then turned it back on, and it was still there. I then didn't touch it for awhile, let it cool down, and when it did, the spot disappeared. So I brought it back to vErizon where i brought it, and by that time it colled off and the spot gone, so they couldn't help me, but they did say to bring it to the Apple store and they can plug it in to see how hot it has been in the past. Is there any way that I can look at this myself rather than driving the distance to go to one, because there's not one incredibly close to me. Also, has anyone heard about this spot before? I'm worried about the heat output of these thigns because when my Otterbox comes in the mail, i'm worried about that heating up then shutting itself down, because my iPod does that from time to time in it's Defender. Thoughts? Thanks
iphone 4S restore error codes 2006 and 2001. what these actually mean
My son's phone suddenly stopped working. We connected it to the Imac using the USB cable and it came up with a restore procedure suggestion to resolved the issue. We downloaded the latest version of ITunes and then we followed the restore process. I then see a pop up error message: The iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001). So I disconnected from the IMac reconnected and re-ran the restore procedure. This time we got the same message but with a 2006 error code. The phone is less than a year old (bought for Christmas). It has been taken care of with no scratches, bangs or drops. What is happening and what do I need to resolve? Is it something that can be fixed?should it cost me (is this under warranty) to resolve / repair? Hopefully someone can help. Thanks Paul
my iphone 4s volume isn't working
My iphone 4S volume isn't working. No sound when playing music. No ring or text message sound. If I try to turn volume up for ringer on side, the box appears, but no bar to show volume up or down. If I do a test ring in settings it works though. Silent switch is in the correct position. I tried a hard reboot (ignored the red slider). It worked a minute ago but then stopped again. It seems like it might have the problem when I'm trying to play music. Thanks!

Why does my iphone volume ringer icon come on by itself, the volume gets turned down on its own then the icon stays on and blocks my view. It also will at any time make any screen switch to large pictures that I can only see a small portion of screen at a time. I have tried too tap screen to make it go back to normal and nothing happens. I then try to turn it off. After several tries I am successful Its hard slide power off button because only a small section is showing. What is happening? How do I fix this?
International texting charges iphone
My friend is on a class trip to Germany. He has been texting me on his ipod, through wifi, with a texting app called text free. I have an iphone with unlimited texting. We have not been texting through iMessage, just SMS, but he is sending them from his ipod. Will I be charged gobs of money for "international texting" or is it part of my data plan since he is using wifi? HELP!

This whole problem started when I first got my iphone 5 around christmas time of last year. And i did the normal activation of my new iphone and syncing my old iphone 4 with this new phone. I synced everything and it was all good, but i started to get these random text from people in my message log. I soon found out that i was recieving every text that was sent to my sister. And if i replied to someone who was texting my sister it would show up like she texted them, not me on a seperate number. Also when i text my sister she would get the text but immidiatly after i sent her it, i would also get a text from myself saying what i sent her. I will literally get a text message from my own number to myself, (Weird ****). So its like my sisters text messaging is fused with mine. Its only messages though, no images or anything else. In the beginging i didnt care about this becasue she wasnt recieving my text i was only getting hers. But now just today she tells me she is getting my text too. And thats a problem! This problem lasted all the way up to about 2 months ago and then i stopped getting her messages. But i gave one of my friends my old iphone 4 and once they activated it for there own use it started to happen again. They use a seperate plan then i do and there number on the phone is different. Before i gave them the phone i wiped everything off of it. i took off the contacts, messages, everything. They use a different apple account and icloud account now on the phone. So idk why it started up again i need help. Here is some background. My whole family shares the same apple account with everything. We have seperate phones, numbers and data for the most part. But with dealing with Icloud and itunes anything like that, we use the same account. My sister uses a iphone 4s btw. With my old iphone 4 i had no probelms with this, everything was normal. But once i switched to the new iphone 5 this problem has occured. Idk what this is about, i havent heard anyone else with this problem, but i need help! btw my other family members on their phones do not have this problem. So i think it has to do something with the icloud but im not sure! This is a serious problem and i need help! Goodluck!

I want to start over iphone
So I got my iphone 5 around Christmas time, and I feel as though I need to start fresh. I want everything to be as good as new. I am absolutely getting frusturated with iCloud right about now. I already put all my pictures on my computer (not connected to iCloud), and my contacts are in a vCard folder on my desktop. I don't have music on my iphone, and my apps I'd like to keep. How do I back up my iphone to ONLY my computer... When I tried deleting my iCloud account, it deleted everything (including the contacts that I backed up to ONLY my computer). Long story short... I hate iCloudI want my phone good as newI want my appsI want my contactsI want my text messages if possible.I don't mind resigning into all my email accounts and app accounts. When I do have my iphone good as new as when I got it, then I will later on ask a question on how iCloud specifically works... with such a tight schedule like mine, it is hard to go to the genius bar and ask all of these questions... Whenever I try to sync my iphone 4S, iOS 6.1.3, to my new Asus computer with Windows 8, I get a message saying "iTunes cannot read the contents of this iphone. Go to the Summary tab and restore." So I go to Summary and hit restore, and it doesn't seem do anything, other than want to download new iphone software, which always takes about 4 hours, and I inevitably end up with some sort of error that prevents it from loading. I've removed and reinstalled iTunes, and restarted my phone, but it doesn't seem to work. I would like to be able to sync to my computer, but it doesn't seem to work. Before I was on an Asus computer with Windows 7 and it worked fine, and now I can't get it to work at all. I have the same Internet Security provider as before, so I don't think that's it. Can anyone figure out what I should do? Thanks

My girlfriend recently broke her iphone 4 and had to get a new phone -- ever since she got a new phone, my iphone 4S is missing hundreds of texts from her. The last text my phone shows from her is from over two months ago. At first I thought that only the iMessages were missing, but we have exchanged hundreds of SMS and iMessages in the last few months and they are all missing. After she broke her phone there were a few days she texted me via iMessages on her iMac -- and those texts are all missing too, iMessages on her computer is also totally messed up. I can understand why she would be missing a few messages on her new phone since she hasn't backed her phone up in a few weeks, and using iMessages between multiple devices is still glitchty -- but why did my girlfriend getting a new phone cause hundreds of texts to be deleted off of my phone? Screen display problems LCD iphone 5
I bought an iphone 5 six months ago from Roger's Wireless and I also paid for the application of a screen protector, for a long time both of these worked very well and I had no problems. The other day I put my iphone into my locker at work and came back a few hours later to find that two spots had appeared on the display. One was near the top of the screen and it looked like a dis-colored splotch while the other one, that was near the bottom of the screen, looked like someone tried to scratch the screen with a dull object . When I turn off the display and examined the outside of the phone there is no scratches or any other physical damage to the phone, I think it may have something to do with the LCD screen. Also, my locker was locked so I know no one was fooling around with it although humidity or something could have played a factor but I'm not entirely sure. The spots are relatively small but pretty annoying, before this my iphone was in perfect shape . I'm not sure if I am covered by the one year warranty because my phone may have water damage (although I am not sure). I remember a few months back dropping it into a deep pile of snow and when I took it out it was pretty wet, but still continuted to work perfectly find. Regardless, I'm pretty sure thats accident caused the water damage indicators in my phone to be set off . I looked all over the internet and there is different ways of taking off the actual LCD screen and replacing it yourself but I think I would much rather get this done by a professional. I have also heard that the spots may go away eventually. I am not sure if I am going to send my phone in right away but any help at all would be awesome. Thanks!
Character count not work for all contacts anymore. iphone
I have an iphone 4 running 6.1.3 with character count enabled and on the Sprint network. Recently character count stopped working when texting at least one of my contacts that i know for sure. I haven't gone through to see how many other contacts have the same issue, but i know it still works for some other contacts. Why would character count show for some of my contacts but not others? And what would cause it to stop working when it showed the number of characters before?I have found the problem exists regardless of if it's an SMS text or iMessage. And there is only one contact at a time that is the recipient; it is not an MMS. Is it possible that there actually is more than one recipient that i'm not aware of or is there another reason why character count would stop working only for certain contacts all of a sudden?

I have an iphone 4S and my voulme just randomly stopped working. I checked my settings again and it only makes sounds when someone calls my cell. When I try to see what level the ringer is on it shows no bars or anything. Any ideas, I tried restarting it. Nothing works just happened randomly today. Any advise?

Hello, and thank you for reading. I have an iphone 4s, and my primary email account is Gmail. I can receive emails, but I can't send them. When I try to click on the little pen icon to write an email, the app crashes/quits and I'm sent back to the homescreen. I saw that most people who can't send email receive an error message, but I've never received an error message, the app just stops. I checked in the Settings, and every thing seems to be in order (I'm not extremely tech savvy, so I could be wrong). I started to experience this problem maybe a week ago. Also, my Messages app can be a little sketchy sometimes too. When I'm connected to Wifi and trying to send an iMessage, the message won't send and there will be a little red exclamation point next to the message. My Messages app works sometimes, but do you all think that the problems are linked somehow? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I'm out of the office a lot, and it's an inconvinecne that I can't send emails while I'm on the road. I mean, that's why we buy an iphone, right? Hopefully someone here can help me... My iCloud always shows my backup as being 4.8GB, even with EVERYTHING turned off. After downloading iOS 7 I figured out the problem: I have 4.8 GB of "Messages (Saved)". This is even after deleting ALL my messages. I'm not sure what this could be. I tried PhoneCleaner, i FunBox, and everything else I can find, but I can't find a way to access or view these messages to delete them. Could someone help me? I can't back anything up to iCloud with it like this.Note: this was happening even before i upgraded to iOS 7.

Just recently, I've been experiencing problems with my iphone 5. I regularly charge it by connecting it via USB to my computer. However, over the past few days when I attempt to do this, I am spammed with this warning message: "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." Additionally, whenever I attempt to plug my phone into a wall outlet to charge, it will connect/charge and then immediately disconnect. I was hoping someone could lead me in the correct direction to resolve this problem so I can efficiently charge my iphone. Thanks.

S Not Valid iphone
I recently wiped my iphone and when I went through the process to set up, right after selecting a Wi-Fi network, I got a SIM Not Valid screen like the below. I am on AT&T and my phone has never been unlocked, hacked or jailbroken. I've replaced 3 phones as everytime I tried to reinstall software this happened. I got a new sim. No change. Tested my sim in another phone - it work. Tested working SIM in my iphone - SIM Not Valid message still. Does anyone have an idea why this happens after a wipe and resetting the phone?

I was planning on buying a 32GB unlocked iphone 5 with the T-Mobile Nano Sim. I was going to activate the Sim with T-Mobile's prepaid $30 unltd text/data with 100 minutes plan. I've read some stories online where people were only able to use the Sim with T-Mobile's post-paid plans. Will the Sim that comes included work with prepaid and post-paid plans? Also, assuming that it does work with prepaid, what steps would I need to go through to activate the iphone? Assuming that it doesn't, would cutting down a prepaid Micro Sim from T-Mobile to Nano Sim size work normally? Thank you in advance!

iphone 4s internet not working
iphone 4s internet not working. my phone have singnal while using. on the left top corner have the display of "4G" and i can text or phone to someone. but i can't use my internet. it is all fine since this morning. when i tried a web page, it goes slower than before. after 1 hour, the internet totaly can't be used.my wifi part couldn't be used either. but it began at december 2012. and i don't usually use the wifi. so i didn't pay attention to it. wifi part is sometime good sometime bad. mostly after i restar it, the wifi can be used for 1 or 2 muniutes. i was not sure whether or not is the problem of att. but other members of my family plan are all fine at internet.which part of phone would be the problem? especially for the hard ware parts. i think there would be some problems in hardware. i always drop my phone unintentionally.

It's almost 6 months since I've encountered this problem. I already requested my carrier to have my iphone 4s replacedand a series of testing was done to my iphone 4s before they found out this it was defective. Now, I have my new iphone 4s but the same problem was again encountered. The message delivered late and sometimes messages aren't received at all. Though I have a complete network bar as seen on the upper corner of the screen, incoming calls aren't received and outof coverage area. Hope you can help me on this.

vodafone issues iphone 4S
Hi all, i will list my problems and see what you all think,,,,, i have a iphone 4s on vodafone running 6.1.3 firmware, for the first 11/12mths i would say this phone was faultless ( taking around 200 calls a day), recently the phone refuses to make calls and send txt messages, it wont even connect to the internet using 3g, it has to have wirelesss connectivity for the browsers to work. i took it to the local vodafone shop and they insisted it was the sim card at fault, even though i did try it in my other phone (nokia E50-2), so i took the replacement sim anyway. checks already done:- i have taken my vodafone contract sim from the iphone and placed it in the nokia, it works fine sending and recieving both calls and txti have taken my vodafone PAYG sim out of the nokia and placed it in the iphone, it refused to work but worked fine in the nokiai have reset the network settings, i have deleted all apps from the iphone and done a full restore, but it still refuses to workit shows full signal strength all the time where i live, as does the nokia, if i try to call it from the nokia it tells me the phone is not available even though they are sat side by side with full signal, if i try to call the nokia it comes back called failed.i have tried to send a txt message to my own phone number only for it to come back failed, yet in the nokia it sends no problem.vodafone refuse to admit it is a problem with there network and it is an iphone issue, the phone is now 13mths old and out of warranty (typical), i requested the iphone be unlocked from vodafone to check other networks, this has now been done so i put a spare O2 sim in the iphone and it sends and recieves both calls and text with no issues, yet vodafone still say it is not a network problem!!!!!!! is anyone else having similar problems to mine??? or is it something wrong with the phone???? i personnaly think when the phone was updated to the 6.1.3 firmware it has a problem with vodafone, plese tell me what you think, i am going crazy with this phone, cant believe its not kissed the wall or other hard surface yet.
