So here is what happened.. I live in Canada and my app store is obviously registered to the Canada App Store and today I was in my app store and I tried to download an app but a pop up came up saying you have to be in the US App Store to download. And the only option for me to press was "okay". My phone then kinda delayed an froze.. So I turned it off and back on. Went back in my App store and I saw an App that I wanted and when I tried to install it says " Your account is not valid for use in the U.S. Store. You must switch to the Canadian store before purchasing." I have no idea how to do that! I looked around and saw no where to click "okay" again to switch.. Please help me! Thank you!
I've been using Nike+ GPS since it came out on my iphone 3GS, then 4S, and now most recently my iphone 5. I have been running the same route for years, but I noticed the iphone 5 was recording a slightly shorter run (not much just about 0.05 to 0.1 mile). When I looked at the map view of my running route it was obvious that the iphone 5 was not picking up the final few 100 feet of my run where I get to the end of the path and turn around to go back the same way. I compared it to the map records on Nike of the same route I've been running forever and those route traces clearly show the right end point compared other features on the map. So today I tried something else: I ran to the end point of my route and then paused my run and stood in place for 30 seconds and then restarted the run going back. This time when I got home the Nike+ route map showed exactly the right endpoint and the total mileage was correct. So it looks like Apple did something bad with the either the iphone 5 GPS system probably to conserve battery life. It must only ping the location every X seconds, so if you are on a route and turn around it's going to miss the end point of your route unless you are lucky enough to hit that location at the same time the GPS pings. Note I'm quite sure I ran the most recent iOS on my iphone 4S before upgrading phones so I don't think this is an iOS or Nike+ problem. I do not claim to understand the details of how the iphone GPS calculates position (I think it is also supposed to use an accelerometer for error checking and refinement), but the iphone 5 GPS location is clearly a downgrade from the iphone 4S. ThxEd
Hi all. I've already tried asking this elsewhere, but haven't really had much luck with help other than "it has to be a hardware issue". So, here goes. Note: it is far out of the warranty date, plus it's physically damaged. I have an iphone 4 (16, I think) that was working aside from cracks in the screen. I saw it working a few months ago and it was given to me (it hasn't been used since). When I turned it on, it showed the iTunes and usb cable (indicating it needed restoring) so I tried restoring it (invalid build error I think). I kept trying again and again but got the 16xx error a few times. I have tried two different computers, different OSs, (one that didn't even ever have itunes installed) and I keep getting the same -1 error at the very very end of the restore. Early on, I was able to get it to boot and get to a passcode screen but then it said the iphone needs to be restored after I unlocked it. It's almost like it's restoring fine and then suddenly it doesn't verify at the end with apple's servers or something. My apartment's wifi goes through an isp with security of some sort, I'm sure. Could that be an issue? I feel like it almost restores it but then it fails right at the end. Here is one of the logs--this one is the latest -1 error. It is abridged since most of it wouldn't fit. I don't know how to attach the full log. Any advice? .....update_baseband: querying baseband infobbupdater: Opening device path /dev/cu.debug, using baud 115200bbupdater: Configuring Hardware Mux...bbupdater: OKbbupdater: [1358319567.908310 : 13.00]::: powercycle[nand_part_core:INF@3172] next 87 pages of boot blocks written with LLB image of size 133632 bytes[nand_part_core:INF@3175] final 39 pages of boot blocks left unprogrammedbbupdater: - I am having issues connecting to my AirPort Extreme router from both of the iPhones that I have in my household. One of the iPhones is an iphone 5 running iOS 6.0.2 and the other is an iphone 4S running the latest version of iOS 5. Both of these devices have difficulty connecting to the access point in question, and will encounter one of the two scenarios: upon joining the network will get an error stating that the network cannot be joined, or after a successful join the devices will have extremely slow connections (15-30 seconds to get a ping back from the router) to which a point it is highly preferred to switch back to a cellular connection for speed reasons. There are many other wireless devices in the house that are functioning normally, including two MacBook pros and an Xbox 360 all over wireless, and one desktop over a wired connection. I've scanned the area wifi and have moved the Airport's channel to one that is not in use. It seems that this issue is isolated to the iPhones in particular. Given that the two devices are different models, running different firmware and that other wireless devices can connect without issue I am at a loss on how to proceed with my troubleshooting.
Having very slow wifi thoroughput on my iphone 5 before and after updating to 6.0.2. Normal speeds I get from devices at my house are 15-30mbps. iphone 5 is lucky to ever reach 1mbps. Upload spead is usually good, at around 2-3mbps. ping is always fairly bad at 80-150ms. I have tried nearly everything to resolve this issue. Strange thing is, it works great in the morning when I wake up. Then sometime after 7-8:00am, it's back to being slow. Not only is it slow, but podcasts and large apps error out and will not download.Things I have tried: Bought a new router(thinking it could be my old apple airport, I went out and picked up a Linksys E4200 with current firmware)New iphone(had it exchanged, and after I was handed the new one, it was fast but got home and slow again)Which brings me to this next one. I tried a full restore a few times, and for a few minutes after the restore it is normal. Ever since I upgraded to iOS 6.0.2 I've been experiencing some serious WiFi issues. Although my upload speed has remained basically the same, my latency and download speeds have been terrible. I believe that it has something to do with either hardware or software on the iphone 5. I have tested with other computers in the house, and the WiFi remains the same as it always has, so I'm pretty sure its got something to do with the iphone. Here's some information:• iphone 5 32GB black on Verizon running iOS 6.0.2• Cox High Speed Internet Preferred Package• Basic Motorola Surfboard Modem• Netgear WNDR3400 gaming router**Ask if you need anymore information** Just to give you an idea as to how bad it is, I usually get a ping of about 60ms, 14 Mbps download, and 4 Mbps upload. Now, I'm getting about 200ms ping, .50 Mbps download, and about 3 Mbps upload. Things I have done to combat the situation:• Reset Network Settings on iphone• Power cycle router• Cold reset on iphone• Tried holding it differently... LOL I'm not brave enough to completely wipe the iphone and start over. I don't have the time to set it up all over again! Any suggestions would be helpful! If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask away.
I got my iphone 5 about 3 weeks ago, and it ran really smoothly out of the box. I hooked it up to my computer and began to restore from my previous ipod touch backup when I stopped it from syncing. I saw that it completely copying my ipod settings (homescreen and all), so I then changed some of the sync settings (only sync checked items, don't sync movies, etc.) and let the iphone and computer do their thing. When it was done, I had to delete some bookmark apps on the homescreen and all of the pictures iTunes synced over from my old iPod. After I took everything off that I didn't want on the iphone, I redownloaded the apps I wanted, and everything went hunky dory. Then, I experienced my first problem. The weather app had trouble getting the weather for my current location, and it had nothing to do with the LTE of wifi network. I was able to get the other cities on the app, but it just wouldn't get my current location. It then began to work after a day or so. Either way, it wasn't a big deal to me. Then, a couple of days later, I was trying to call my friend while listening to a song by holding the pause button on the earbuds chord and waking siri up. I heard the noise that siri makes when she wants to listen to you, but then it turned off without letting me talk. This happened 3 or 4 times until I manually turned the screen on and called my friend. I then began to experience apps closing out of nowhere, which is so unlike the iphone 5 because the chip is so fast. I was only running 2 apps in the background and was browsing on facebook when it happened. None of the apps were heavy on RAM, so it made absolutely no sense why it force closed. Apps tend to close about 3-4 times a week. Another problem I just faced today was with the music app. I was listening to a song when it began to skip and studder. When I restarted the song, it didn't happen again, but I noticed that the songs I was listening to were softer than I remembered and began to get louder and quieter without me doing anything. I soft restarted the iphone and they were back to normal. This had nothing to do with the volume, as it was all the way up on the phone. However, the most annoying problem out of all of the issues is with the LTE. The speed is phenominal on Verizon (even faster than my wifi at times), but it sometimes takes a while to turn on when I come from an area where there is no service (in the subway tunnel) into an area with service again. It will take a while to turn on, and sometimes only the 3g comes on, which I then solve by going into settings and toggling the 4g switch off and back on again. However, there will be times where I leave my phone alone on my table for an hour or so. When this happens, the LTE gets stuck in off mode and I will not be able to go on the internet or use siri. It will still say LTE in the status bar, but I will not be able to get any cell service. Siri will say "Siri is unavailable", and making phone calls is also delayed. There is no way to fix it but soft resetting the phone, and everything goes back to normal afterwards. This is a brand new phone with the most up to date ios software. Can this all be the result of me doing a "restore from backup" instead of selecting "set up as new iphone"? Do these problems seem to be problems with the phone itself, or just with the software? I'm thinking it is the software, but I could be wrong. Are any of these things, or similiar issues, happening to anyone else and did those of you fix it somehow? Thank you for the help in advance, and I hope I can get my baby working the way it should soon!
Hello! I wonder if anyone knows a good GPS app for bikeways. What I want is an app that knows all bike roads and not only car roads. I live in Linköping, Sweden, and that's where I use my bike the most. Thank you! /Andreas
I have tried everything in every discussion thread. With my iPad 2 and iphone 5 sitting side by side, the EXACT same settings on both (iCloud, Wifi, Cellular, etc.) I show iPad (ping 49 ms, download 14.27, upload 2.90) and iphone (111 ms, 0.43, and 2.80)...this has been going on since I received the iphone 5. I have tried "test" in the Client ID, reset network settings, off/man/auto http proxy, etc. This MUST be an iphone 5 connectivity problem. Any ideas beyond this? Apple are you hearing this?
So I have had the iphone 5 since the day it came out in September. I have noticed, randomly, it will delay texts from individuals and in group messages. It has delayed for an hour or more, and more than once it has delayed for more than a day. I have looked at the sent message time and it says 8:52am but I am receiving it at 9:30am? Or once it kept ringing for like a minute straight as all the messages from a group message came in from two days prior, they have the date they were sent but they don't get to me until much later than needed. I have no idea why it does it either. Any help?
Hi, My iPad 2 and iphone 5 are both on the same network (Three UK). I have noticed that my iPad manages to maintain a better signal than the iphone - typically displaying an extra bar and when in areas of poorer coverage my phone drops to No Service before the iPad. I realise the two have very different antennas but was just curious to know whether it is usual for the iPad antenna to perform better in terms of signal strength? The strange thing is that when right next to each other, even when I have more bars on my iPad than my iphone, the iphone performs substantially better in bandwidth and ping tests, which makes me wonder whether the algorithm for calculating the number of bars in iOS 5.1.1 (which is on my iPad) is slightly different to that in iOS 6 on my iphone. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Ed.
On my iphone 5 when on a call I can hear a slightly delayed echo of my own voice. Is there a setting that can be adjusted to eliminate this annoying echo?
Love most of the new iphone 5 features and the speed on LTE service is amazing. However, my brand new iphone 5 64GB seems to be having some issues. Two main issues. One is an occasional screen flicker consisting of 3 to 5 horizontal black or dark colored lines. This is located at a point approximately 1/3 of the screen up from the bottom and running from the left edge of the screen to approximately the center of the screen. The flickering lines are brief and occassional, but deffinately a concern. The other main issue is with video recording. I've attended a couple of concerts/shows in the last week. I used my iphone 5 to capture a few video clips to share w/ friends etc. The recorded videos have brief moments of light to moderate, easily visible video distortion. There's a horizontal distorted digital shaking running the full video width, approximately 1/4-1/3 of the screem and mostly in the center of the video image. It's not related to playback on the sceen itself, but it is the quality of the video recorded. I downloaded the videos to my computer and they play with the same video distortion as they do on the phone. I had previously been impressed with the video qaulity on my 4S. Perhaps issues with over active "improved video stabilization"? Aside from those things all else seems to be good minus some occassional delayed touch responses and seemingly delayed photo opening to view from text messaging. Hardware? Software? Bottome line, are these issues that may be resolved in a future Apple iphone 5 / iOS 6 update or must I get back in line and try to get a new replacemnt phone?
I started installing OS 6. It stalled. Now my 3GS has a blinking screen. I can't shut it off. ITunes won't recognize it. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
Since I updated my iphone 4S and iPad to iOS 6 I have encountered several problems:1. I can receive and read emails but I can't send one using yahoo, gmail and hotmail. Tried the apple support solutions such as restarting the gadgets, changing wifi to 3G connection, deleting email accounts and adding them again but it did not work.2. I can't open my yahoo messenger now though initially I can use it after the upgrade. 3. I have configured the iMessage in my iphone to receive messages from all servers (yahoo, gmail & hotmail) and set my cellular network number as the default. In my iPad, same settings except the default is yahoo since I can only access wifi and no cellular network. But every time an imesaage is received, it goes both to my iphone and iPad??? 4. I cannot connect to iTunes store!! I updated my desktop iTunes but still I can't connect to iTunes in my iPad and iphone. 5. Volume for both ipad and iphone are now low despite setting it to maximum levels. I can't hear the notifications most of the time.6. When I used FaceTime to talk to a friend who decided not to upgrade her iOS yet, we are having the same problems with the volume and mike. Either it is too low or you can't hear anything at all. Internet connection is working fine since the video is working perfectly.7. The battery of my iPad is now draining TOO FAST!!! I did not notice the same thing with my iphone. I charged my iPad to 100% when I left home at 1 pm and 13 hours later my battery is only 34%!!! I used the ipad approximately 3 hours only TRYING TO SEND THOSE EMAILS, TROUBLESHOOTING THE VOLUME OF THE SPEAKER AND NOTIFICATIONS, OPENING YM AND BROWSING THE NET FOR SOLUTIONS!!!8. Merged contacts are now separated!!9. Invites were automatically sent to some of my contacts from viber, heywire and tango when I access them for the first time. 10. Youtube app is gone!?? I haven't used all the applications yet but I have this feeling that I have yet to encounter MORE problems once I do! To Apple: why update your software without considering compatibility issues to other programs and affecting even the volume??? Since most of our installed applications are malfunctioning, what is the use of all these gadgets now??? You have caused me and thousand of others a lot of inconvenience especially in accessing and sending important emails to our contacts/work. I have shifted from android to apple for less than a year and I had to go to apple store 2 or 3x to have my ipad checked due to a lot of problems after using it for just 1 month until finally they replaced my unit with a new one only when I video recorded the problems since their engineers always claim that they did not encounter those problems during check up!!?? The replacement was even delayed due to shipping problems. Now, 2 days after upgrading to iOS 6 both my iPad and iphone are malfunctioning!!! I hope you can find solutions to these problems you technically created SOON.
Hello everyone I am having problems connecting to our company Cisco VPN properly over a tethered or Personal Hotspot connection on my iphone 4 (AT&T).If I tether my iphone 4 to my MacBook Pro, the built-in Cisco VPN client will not connect to the company VPN server. If I set my iphone to Personal Hotspot, the built-in Cisco VPN client will appear to connect correctly to the company VPN server, but after becoming connected you can't do anything it is as if you have no network connection (can't ping anything, etc.)The only way I have been able to do anything with a VPN and a tethered iphone is to tether my iphone to my MacBook Pro then use the built-in iphone Cisco VPN client in the iphone to connect to the company VPN server. If I do this, MS Office 2011 Outlook will connect up properly to the company Exchange server but nothing else works, i.e. I can't see any of the company computers that I should be able to see on a VPN session.Has anyone else had these kinds of problems? I have no idea what to try, I am not a VPN/network expert.

Now, as stated in the log, the Usage and Standby times weren't there since I charged phone while it was off. But you can do the math, and so can I, sooo: 3 hours, 40mins Standby, then 6 hours and however many odd minutes. I'm assuming Standby would be a lot more, though, since I was playing music on "standby" and when music is played on Standby mode, it counts as Standby and usage. So those numbers are kind of rough, but the battery lasted about the same as the first log, before the restore. So, please leave your feedback here of the post, how your battery compares, how you improved yours, if you've done tests, etc. Thank-you, all!
Both my girlfriend and I have an iphone. However she does not have a data package. She has activated iMessage as she is often in a wi-fi zone. However when she is out and I try to send her a text message, I get iMessage and the blue bubble even though she is not in a wifi area. In these cases the message can be delayed quite a bit. I have no idea of knowing if she is in wifi or not so important or timely messages won't get to her and I know nothing about it. Is there a solution other than disabling iMessage?
Why in iMessage my phone keeps sent a regular text message and not an iMessage? Also my keypad is very delayed When typing? Please me! Why is it not sending and delaying.
Hello everyone, I think I've literally exhausted every possible option with regard to my issue, so I thought someone here might have a suggestion for something I may have missed. Here's the problem: My iphone 4S refuses to WiFi sync (automatically or manually) because it seems that it cannot locate my iMac. Everytime I try to manually sync over WiFi by going to Settings/General/iTunes WiFi Sync, I can press the button -- IT IS NOT GREYED OUT -- but the sync constantly says "LOOKING FOR ******* iMac and then timesout. I cannot see the device in the iTunes sidebar unless I plug in via USB -- as soon as I unplug, my iphone disappears. The oddest thing is, when I first got the phone, it worked perfectly -- and then it randomly stopped -- and has never worked again. Here's my setup: 27" iMac (Late 2009) running OS X Lion version 10.7.3Airport Extreme running firmware 7.6.1 with a/b/g/n bands enabled -- secured with WPA2 Personal.iphone 4S 32GB running iOS 5.1 Here's what I've tried so far: The basics: Making sure the WiFi Sync box is checked. Made sure both devices are connected to the same WiFi network. Uncheking and re-checking the Wifi Sync box and re-syncing. Making sure that "Open iTunes when this device is connected" is checked. Made sure that "Prevent iDevices from syncing automatically" is unchecked. Restart all devices (i.e. iphone, iMac, Airport). Hard Reset iphone. I have also tried: Restoring the iphone from a backup. Restoring the iphone as a new device. Deleting all existing iphone backups. Wiping the Airport Extreme and re-configuring. Using the "restart your Airport from your iphone through Airport Utility" method that has been suggested. Hardcoding IP's for both my iMac and iphone into the Airport Extreme. Disabiling wireless security on the Airport. Disabling Mac OS X firewall. Port forwarding the necessary ports. Uninstalling iTunes using the necessary terminal commands and reinstalling. Opening the ports Apple suggests in the WiFi Sync support article on both the Airport and the OS X firewall. Some notes: I know my iphone and iMac are aware of one another because the Sync Now button isn't greyed out. I can also ping my iphone from my iMac using the Network Utility successfully. Two other family members have 4S's in my home on the same network that sync with Windows PC's without issue. Whatever this is, it's isolated to my iMac. About the only thing I haven't tried is completely restoring my iMac -- which I'm hoping I won't have to do. Any suggestions anyone may have are greatly appreciated! :-) Thanks in advance to any and all responders!!
Hi, I have a black unlocked 64 GB iphone 4S. It runs the iOS 5.1. No jailbreak, I bought the factory unlocked model. Lately my iphone's battery seems to be draining too fast. I played music with Beats Studio, and after like 10 minutes the battery dropped 2%. It can standby up to 10 hours and 4 hours of usage from 100% to 30% of the battery. Should I replace the battery? When the battery is low the battery seems to drain faster. Before, I also used ping but it didn't drain as much as now. Please post what you think and thank you.
I updated my iphone 4 to iOS 5.1 when it was released. My friend updated his iphone 4S delayed, yesterday. Before yesterday iMessage worked well between our iPhones. But since my friend updated to iOS 5.1 as well, iMessage does not work anymore between our two iPhones. The clue: iMessage works well with all other adresses we both use as well. But only our two iPhones cannot use iMessage anymore. Does anyone understand that?!
I sent a message at 8:55 pm to a friend using iMessage saying that I would be arriving at his house in about 15 minutes. I watched the SMS go - no alert of any kind that it had been delayed. When I arrived at his house, he still had not received the message. We checked phones and while doing this, my message arrived on his phone at 9:09 (i.e. 14 minute delay). I then checked my phone, and it said the message had been sent at 9:07 or 2 minutes before he received it. This clearly wasn't the case. Other times it has been fine. But this strikes me as a serious situation because 1) the data the phone shows about sending and receiving times is inaccurate and incorrect,(and texts can be used as legal evidence), 2) the intermittent nature of this situation makes it highly unreliable, so gives me little faith in the operating system if such a fundamental function as texting works only intermittenly and 3) there has been no official response to this from Apple, although numerous people have identified the problem over the past months.Any suggestions? For the mean time, I've tuned iMessage off.
Background: I am an iphone 4 user just recently updated to iOS 5.1Problem: 1. Severe iphone battery draining (left with only 1/3 amount of battery mileage before upgrade)2. I have an iphone 4S and iPad 2 3G. Both with AT&T. I've had the 4S since it came out. I'm not sure when this started (a month or two ago), but when I turn off my iphone and turn it back on again, it sits in searching for a minute or so and finally finds a signal. Once it gets a signal it's okay (ie it doesn't lose the signal), also putting the phone in airplane mode and out only causes a search for a few seconds. Only powering it off and on causes the long searches. My iPad 2 doesn't have this problem, only the iphone 4S. I've tried resetting the network settings (which fixed a problem with the iphone 4S not downloading any faster than 2 Mbps), but it didn't fix this problem. The iphone also has a much higher latency (ping) time than my iPad recently as well. Any ideas why this is happening?
Just updated my iphone 4 and have been getting some bugs regarding texts, voicemails and sleep mode. Texts and voicemails are delayed hours after being sent. Regarding sleep mode, when ever it is in sleep mode no activity goes through the phone. No texts/notufications or anything. Is anyone else having similar bugs? Did you find any solutions?

I am having an issue with my verizon iphone 4s. It is less than a month old, and I have recently found that when I text someone without an iphone, it is delayed. The delay is in both directions- sent and received. I can tell someone is answering something that I asked up to a few hours earlier. Also sometimes I will get their responses out of order. Any help? Thank you
Hello Still working on ways to extend battery life.Anyone have suggestions besides the obvious ones about location services and the time zone settings or whatever and the basics?also why was the 5.0.2 delayed?thanks!
My iphone 4S today got dropped in the road by my friend while she borrowed it for a while, luckily only the side of the screen got chipped but just wondering, does this count as accidental damage or does it come under another category seem as though it wasn't in my hands when it got broken. Also the vibration since doesn't work as well, normally delayed or doesn't vibrate at all. I just wanted to check before it gets repaired. I have had this phone for only 4 days so comes under the 90 day apple care+ complimentary cover. Can anyone guess how much this will cost in the UK?
Whenever I try to click "Like" to a song in iTunes I get the error "Private users may not perform this action".I cannot find any option to change the privacy settings. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Just purchased this phone last week. Was perfect for the first few days. Now the last couple, when I lock the phone I cant get it to turn back on without a reboot. This is with a full charge, partial charge, etc.... The phone is pretty much a paper weight right now unless I keep the phone on constantly. I have probably rebooted atleast 10 times today already. Phone has no case either so I know the sensor isn't covered. And now that I think about it, this didnt start happening until I tried the locate your phone via iCloud 2 days ago. Could that possible have done something to it? I just wanted to test it so I had it send a ping. I am also getting a "no wifi" status. I have 2 seperate wifi routers in the house and its picking them up here and there.
One week after activating this phone, I woke up one morning to find my battery at 1%. This was alarming, considering I'd gone to bed with the battery at 80% and no apps running. I'm rather obsessive about making sure all apps are closed before I go to sleep. I was unable to get any sort of support over the phone (too long of a wait time), given the close proximity to the 4s launch, so I heeded some advice and restored the software. I made sure all location services (not just auto time zone search) were turned OFF, in addition to switching off itunes ping and bluetooth. Mail settings were/are set to manual. Now, as I'm sure all of you are aware, a full charge's lifespan varies, as is the case with all phones. Sometimes my battery can go 2-3 days, while other times I'm finding myself in need of a charge after a day or so. All of this being said, I've made sure to charge the battery all the way to 100% and then let it drain completely to 0%. I figured that doing this, along with taking the above steps, would prevent another phantom battery drain from happening overnight. I woke up early this morning to find my phone completely dead, even though I was at 66% before going to sleep (again, no apps running). My concern is that what I'm reading about seems to only address the phone draining at an unsatisfactory level, with the owner fully aware. My battery life has been fine for the most part. The issue is this overnight drain. While it's only occurred twice over the span of one month, I don't want to run into a toasted battery 10-12 months from now. Moreover, I thought taking the above precautions would prevent this from happening a second time. Has anyone else encountered this? Could there be another factor in play? I did notice that early yesterday evening, I was on roam for a period of time, which isn't great for the battery. But I reset the phone and didn't see it on roam after that. Want to make sure this issue is accounted for in the software update. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
I'm a cardiologist at an academic medical center. Since upgrading my iphone 4 to iOS5, my battery does not last until 2pm after a full overnight charge. Prior to upgrade, the phone would last for 2+ days. The day after I had upgraded, I missed several calls in the afternoon, not realizing the phone had died until I went to place a call. One such missed call delayed critical treatment to a patient having a heart attack. I've been a long time Apple supporter, but this is just unacceptable, that a version of iOS could be released that is so dramatically flawed. I've turned off wifi, location services, and date&time autofind timezone without improvement. Suggestions? I haven't found any other suggestions from my search. Thanks.
Anyone have bad/slow 3g speeds on the 4s? I have 4-5 bars in verizon 3g and I am getting 500-690 ms ping and 0.01-0.04 download speeds with similar upload speeds. I know verizon 3g isn't that fast compared to AT&T but this is ridiculous...Can barely surf the web or stream youtube...I only see Sprint customers complaining but there seems to be no articles regarding the slow speeds on verizon 3g. Anyone getting slow 3g speeds or is it only me? This is my second iphone 4S by the way...would hate to have to go to the apple store for a 3rd one..
Turn on off all your mails acounts, gps, bluetooth, notifications, icloud, imessage, twiter, facebook, acounts, ping and turn on only cellular data and 3g. Charge your batteries till 100% at night. Unplug it from energy, reset your counters (cellular data and use), and go to sleep. When you wake up, go to see your counters.....

Hi folks, Ive seen some comments on this scattered around various forums, but there seem to be more people interested in saying those experiencing this issue are seeing things.Since updating my iphone 4 to iOS 4.3.1, the device has become a vastly poorer user experience. App launch animations often dont even show when you press an app icon, this is most noticeable on games for some reason. Once an app has launched and is loaded into the memory however, the launch animation runs fine when returning to the home screen and relaunching. Also, when in an app like Photos or Camera, when you return to the home screen there is a clear juddering in the animation. There is no set list of apps which trigger the performance, its utterly random in its appearance. For example, Messages can load fluidly one moment, but close with a judder the next.I have taken the following steps:Restored via Restore Button in iTunes.Restored via iTunes using DFU mode.Switched off ping.Switched off Push in email settings.Switched off Spotlight search.Yet this choppy UI experience persists.I phoned Applecare, who were very helpful, and they said it was not acceptable and set up a replacement at the Apple Store today. Obviously, the issue has to be witnessed by a Genius. Its not a case of seeing things or seeing things you want to, as there is 6GB of free space left on my iphone 4 and yet I could run this same iphone 4 on 4.2 with only 800mb left and it displayed all the launch animations perfectly, regardless of the app in question. The only reason I am taking up the offer of a replacement is because, hopefully, the refurb I receive will have 4.2 on it (or perhaps earlier, but thats a long shot). Suffice to say, if this is what each incremental update to iOS does to a device, and given what happened to the 3G with 4.0, Ill be leaving iOS 5 well alone.Fluid UI beats new features for me. iMac 2.4GHz C2D Mac OS X (10.6.7) iphone 4 16GB 4.3.1
I updated my iphone 4 to the new IOS 4.3.1. I am having battery issues now. Losing 10-15% per hr even if I am not using the phone, email, etc. I have read that it could be caused by several things. I turned off ping, no effect. I read that I needed to disable push, notifications, location services, wifi, etc. Nothing works still draining much faster than before the update. I tried one final thing hooked up to Itunes and did a restore. Some speculated on the boards that the IOS was correpted when updated. Well still no effect. Battery draining fast. I know it is not a hardware issue as it started right after the update. Any additional ideas? Toshiba I5 Windows 7
Have 2 iphone 4s (mine-32gb & wifes-16gb), both were running very well all the way till ios 4.2.1, until I updated both phones to ios 4.3, all different kind of problems started, the worst is battery drainage, wifi keeps flactuating between 2 and 3 bars, which ive never experianced before - even while being right next to the router.gsm signal keeps dropping and goes to search, ever so often, so did a complete factory reset as new phone, which didnt help, then waited till ios 4.3.1, which slightly improved the gsm, but wifi and battery drain is still problem, so did a complete reset as new phone in itunes on both phones, that had no effect at all, then went to Apple genius bar, they confirmed that the reset they do and the one we do at home is slightly different, so i gave the go ahead on both phones, they also asked me to discharge battery then put on charge, which i did, but the battery is still draining rapidly. I really have no idea whats going on. and I can confirm that there are no additional apps or any change to settings since I had the ios 4.2.1, I have also tried deleting mail switch off and re-appling the mail, also network reset, and both home and on/off switch reset, still having problems, basically I ve tried everything that have been suggested, including switching off ping. Is there any one having tried this and still having problems and if they have managed to sort it out, kindly share it with us, Ive noticed too many people are still having this issue, even though some are saying there is an improvement with ios 4.3.1. In my case its made it alot worse, please help, thanks iOS 4
Having a heat issue with my phone all day, been running multiple multiplayer apps and also LiveProfile, saw a post saying multiplayer games and apps like ping/LiveProfile etc. have been causing heat issues. Phone turned off, and will not turn back on, have plugged it into computer and wall-charger, it seems like its dead and never returning. Please help. Windows Vista
HiIm from Colombia, my carrier is Comcel.I have an iphone 4g, others friend had some iPhones 3Gs and iphone 4, and all have a data plan with the carrier Comcel. We all have problems with push notifications. The problem is that the notifications are delayed between 1 and 15 minutes to arrive, but when I turn off the cellular data and leave only the wifi the push notifications work perfectly. (arrive in les than 30 seconds)I made the complaint to the operator and they told me that there was no problem: (I once had an iphone with another carrier and had no problem. What I can do about it?I know that is not an apple problem, but what I can do for the operator to correct the problem? There is an official apple documentation about push notifications? Thanks in advance iphone 4 (GSM model) iOS 4
Hello all,Ive upgraded my iPhone4 to IOS 4.3. After doing so, Ive done a full charge (after it completely drained). I unplugged it at 10:00 AM today and by 16:00 the battery was down to 50% (with basically no usage during the day). I have push, bluetooth, wi-fi, Hotspot, Location Service disabled. I also disabled ping on iTunes, re-sync the phone and done the Restrictions > Disable ping.It is still draining a lot of battery as none of these above solved the problem. What can I do? The phone is going to be 2 months old... PC Windows 7
Hi all, first of all thank you to all the community of iphoneitalia.com forums. Thanks to the contribution of many users yesterday night the solution finally came out.Let us go to the main subject.1. How to identify if you have the issue:-disable any push in your device: notifications, mail, find my phone, whatever might create any data traffic related to push activity. Disable gamecenter, ping, facetime in system restrictions. Then close any app in the background. In such conditions you should not have cell data consumption (=0 kb consistent along hours if you do not touch the phone)Symptoms of illness: cell data usage goes up even if the phone is in stand by; usage time goes up even if you are not using the phone; battery consumption looks ugly comparing to previous iOS.How to certify your feelings:-download an app called netstat from the appstore, it is free-run it and check if you have push.apple.com in the active sockets (=green pin)If you have it even with all disabled as above described, you are really having the problem, they are not only feelings or dreams. Something is constantly acting along this socket, your data usage will go up even if the phone is in standby, the usage time will do the same.2. How to fix itAfter many and many attempts some users found that the responsible app is the app store.Simply go to settings->store and EXIT from the account.Run Netstat again and you will see that push.apple.com is not active anymore.Check data volume and usage time again and you will see that they are not going to increase anymore. At this point you can activate again your notifications, mail and what you usually need, your power and data consumption will go back to the values you were used to before upgrading to iOS 4.3.If you login into the appstore again you will face the problem again. Of course it is not THE solution but it is an acceptable workaround while waiting for a fix from apple.Final message:to all the users: try this and enjoy your battery againto the Apple engineers: please read, learn and fixCiao.Davide Macbook pro 13"-Mid 10 Mac OS X (10.6.6) iphone 4 32 Gb - fw 4.3

Hi all,I have an iphone 4, running latest version of iOS (4.2.1).Its the 30 Gig model with about 6.4 Gig of free space left.Yet, performance is pretty poor. Switching between apps is always delayed, so is a simply home button push. Animations are not very smooth either. I have 1300 pictures and 280 videos on the phone - might this be a factor that slows down the phone? Thanks for your suggestions.I would really expect for the latest iphone to run the latest iOS version smoothly... iphone 4 iOS 4 -
hi alldo you find that your text messages and photo messages are delayed / come through late on your iphone ? i am using o2-uk and find this a lot.is it a carrier issue or do other uk customers find the same on- voda, orange etc ?thanks iphone 3gs and MacBook Pro iOS 4
Ive seen quite a few postings here where otherwise smart people claim that the Push mail/etc synchronization used by the iphone never transmits any data until there is something to send. Here are the facts:BOTH Fetch and Push ping the server. Sometimes Push will even ping more often. Fetch always pings at a certain interval that you set. Pushs interval is dynamic and changes depending on network TCP/IP connection longevity. It can vary from every few minutes to well over half an hour. The main difference is in how quickly the server responds. Fetch = Phone sends request. Server replies immediately. Wait a while. Repeat.Push = Phone sends request with a timeout. Server replies immediately, OR when mail arrives, OR just before the timeout. Repeat.Im confused. Why does Push have to ping at all? Doesnt it just magically send some kind of notification to the phone?Sorry, no magic in this case. The server must know your IP address to respond to, and the phone must be waiting for that response.Mobile IP connections are volatile. Your IP address can change. The connection will be dropped by the carrier if they dont see traffic. The connection can be dropped if a firewall along the network path has a smaller timeout. If youre on EDGE and you answer a phone call, the data connection stops working as well.Anything that interrupts the connection, means the server cant respond with a notification. So the Push agent on the phone creates a connection and then pings over it as often as need to keep the connection alive. Push figures out the correct ping interval by whether or not it hears from the server within the last timeout period that it used.To use an analogy: Fetch is like calling a friend every 15 minutes to see if theres any news. Push is like calling your friend, then putting them on speakerphone and waiting for them to speak. (That way, you get the news immediately.) But if they never reply, the connection automatically drops. So every once in a while you call out Are you still there? Touchscreen laptop and industrial handhelds Other OS
