I recently replaced my iphone screen and afterwards I discovered that my camera roll had crashed. With it, I lost all of my pictures and videos. Luckily, I recovered them from a program that I had downloaded. However, the storage that used to take up my photos and videos on my phone had transfered to the "other" section on itunes. Is the only way to remove/decrease the storage of the "other" file by restoring your iphone? I don't want to restore my iphone because I am also having issues with backing up my phone. Whenever I try to back it up on itunes, it says "the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the iphone". My phone has never been backed up because of this issue, so if I were to restore my phone then all off my files would be deleted. I have tried reseting my phone, but the "other" section is unchanged. Is there anyway I can delete the corrupt files on my phone? I have tried removing all pictures, videos, apps, and music in an attempt to discover the source of the corrupt files but I haven't found them. Also, if I was to "restore backup" with my iphone from my ipad, would that mean losing my messages?
Hi All, I just upgraded my iphone 5 to IOS 6.1.4. Afterwhich i realize the performance motion of sliding from page to page, app opening and minimizing... seems to have dropped. Did anyone experience the same effect? I wish to revert back to 6.1.3, any guide on how to achieve this without losing any data or app installed? Appreciate any help. Thanks.
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iphone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iphone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone. Now the problem is images. There is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file. In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space. Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found. She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iphone are not here, where are they? Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again? Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received... The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iphone and images previously uploaded from the laptop. Cheers Chipontheroad
Lately I've been turning off my phone and when I turn it back on battery is drained. Yesterday I turned it off at 80% and when I turned it back on 3 hours later it was at 62%. Then today I turned it off at 50% and when I turned it back on it was at 32%! Does anyone know why my iphone is losing battery even when it's completely powered off? I feel like it shouldn't be losing any battery at all
My iphone 4s has a bad operating system (confirmed at Apple Store) I was given a new device and we restored my settings, etc. from backup. I was warned that there was a possibility of the glitchy iOS being transferred to the new device. Well after a couple weeks, this proved true. Next step is to restore device as NEW. Before I attempt this, I would like to be as prepared as possible to avoid losing anything permanantly. I am looking for advice with this - since I won't be able to restore from a backup, will I need to create a new iCloud account? Can I remove previous backups from both iTunes and iCloud? Thanks in advance for any help! This has been an ongoing issue since I purchased the phone new in January and it's beyond frustrating!
I have an iphone 4 8gb and it seems that everytime I try to download an app/song or try to take a photo/video it is constantly telling me there's no more space left on my iphone. The content of my iphone is: 1.40 GB's of music, 761.1 MB of photos, 779.6 MB of apps, and 3.39 GB's of other. I don't know how to get rid of the "other" part that takes up half my storage. If anyone has some helpful ways to get rid of the other storage without losing all my data (pics, music, apps, messages, etc) let me know!
Okay. So this was what happened: I was updating my iTunes library to the latest version. All of a sudden, my netbook crashed and eventually was hanging. So I removed the battery and restarted my netbook. I later found out, my iTunes got deleted. I didnt panic at first since I deliberately deleted my iTunes before and reinstalled it again finding all my files back in the iTunes. But this time, when I reinstalled it, all my files were gone! With this situation, can I transfer all my current files from my iphone to my new iTunes library? I don't mind losing my music but I just want to safely sync my iphone to this new iTunes library without erasing my current apps and photos. Hope you guys can help me!

hi guyz i just brought an unlocked verizon iphone 4s and i wanna know is it safe to sync iphone to my pcwithout losing my unlock? idk kno if itz factory or not but i dont have cydia.one thing that scares me tho is that, i know when i sync I'll lose all apps, and it came with an app called APN (unlockit.co.nz)which states when i open it: iphone APN changer this website will set mobile carrier info for dat access when you cannot editor do not kno settings. it dose not jailbreak or carrier unlock iphones click on the icon below to choose what you wish to do. i dont really know if i need this or not but itz another reason i been hesitantto sync my iphone. sorry for sounding like such a noob but i could use somehelp. Please help. I've just returned from overseas having taken a lot of photos on my new iphone 5. I've stupidly moved to upgrade the software on the device without saving these. Now the phone is promoting me to plug into iTunes and when I do it says the phone is detected in recovery mode and has to be restored. Is there any way I can get to these images without losing them?! :( I think I have additional storage however can't be sure images were selected to back up.

Hi all- newbie here. I'm trying to open and sync an (my husband's) existing iphone 4 onto (my) existing computer. However, both the iphone and the computer were set up originally under our different iTunes accounts. I've read where if I open up his account on my computer, I shouldn't have any problems, right? It looks like I can only see stuff that is on the Cloud, not his aps that he purchased for his phone on his account, nor his music that he purchased. Does this seem right? Is there something else I can try to be able to sync his phone without losing aps (albeit under his account and my computer)? Thanks

I have found a lot of app fro locking pictures and files, contacts, etc, Is there a way of locking down a folder that contains apps? Say i don't want someone opening my facebook app or other apps I have. Any help is appreciated.
I googled to no end, searched Apple support forums endlessly and you know what? Not a single simple answer can seem to be given without being redirected to something that simply does not answer THIS very specific question. Is it, or is it not possible to quickly transfer photos DIRECTLY *FROM* and *INTO* the Camera Roll without iTunes or iPhoto? Simple question yes? lol. NOPE. Reason why I ask can be simply described in short: iTunes 11.0.2, running iphone iOS 6.1; Clicking "Photos" from my iphone via iTunes, gives me ONE single option; "Sync photos from". Tried keeping it real simple. Make a folder on the desktop called iphone Photos just for quickly transfering photos back and forth and chose to synch from that. 18 photos to test. Just crap from the internet. Nothing major. Know what it does? For one, it takes 3 minutes or so to sync 18 whole photos, which is stupid but whatever. But here's the BEST part, none get sent to my Camera Roll, oh no, it makes TWO entirely new folders under it in my iphone. One being the one I made on my desktop, and the other is called Photo Library, and get this, BOTH of these have the same 18 pictures lmao. Yup. Why? Oh who cares at this point. I really just do not care. Apple. All that needs to be said. And as for iPhoto. It's just an unnecessary useless program I have no intentions of ever needing. Why? I keep a crap load of various types of photos in organized folders in my Finder, and iPhoto likes making sure it takes 3x longer to do that. It really just does. Now back on point. What happened to the good old friggin days when all you had to do was DRAG AND DROP?!?!?! I legitimately am getting cancer from pondering this question. Is there not a way to simply drag from Camera Roll somehow to the iMac, like say a specified folder. And Vice Versa from the iMac straight to Camera Roll? A nice workaround to get FROM Camera Roll TO iMac specified folder is "Image Capture" which does exactly just THAT. Quickly and painlessly transfer STRAIGHT FROM AND TO wherever. This is ridiculous. At this point, I'd pay 50 bucks for a simple app to quickly drag and drop from and to Camera Roll and bam. Done. Sorry for the book, but this is getting ******** trying to get an answer to this and thought I would deem it necessary to be as descriptive as humanly possible. Looking for simple answers if possible, but at least descriptive. Thanks.
I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iphone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!

There is an oficial re-seller of Apple company in my country (Kazakhstan). I called them and asked, they said the international warranty doesn't cover Kazakhstan. Hello how come? (. I really disappointed of Apple company, I thought Apple take care about its customers all over the world that's why people love Apple, but in my case I can't do anything. Apple is losing a market sense. What a shame!!!!
I have about 12 updates available in my Apps app -everytime I try to update one of them, it says it cannot connect with iTunes and gives me the option of 'Done' or 'Retry'. I'll hit retry and the same error message pops up. When I hit 'Done', it just sits in limbo. From looking at other threads, I've tried logging out of my AppleID and back in, turning my phone off, etc. -to no avail. I've already had to have a "hard reset" of my phone a couple of times after going to the "Genius Bar" and I neither have the time nor want to go through the process of re-downloading everything again. As a long time Apple customer and vehement defender of its user friendliness, I'm getting very frustrated. Please advise on the best way to rectify this issue without losing all of my ish again. My patience is wearing thin!
Hey guys!I have lots of apps into my iphone 4S, but now I want to change to another apps, since I don't have anymore spaces available...The question is.Can I remove an app without losing the Data inside it?I mean, like if I remove right from the device, a question will appear "Removing this app will also remove the data inside it". It's because I've got Real Racing 3, and as we know, it doesn't backup the progress on the cloud, if I remove it for a few days, I'll lose the data...Removing from iTunes have the same effect?
Hey everyone, I have an iphone 4 and over the past few weeks it has just randomly been losing my contacts. I have them all backed up in my computer, but it is still annoying and worrisome. I don't have iCloud syncing turned on, nor does it happen after I have synced or anything. It will just happen in the middle of the day while it is sitting on my desk. I'll look over to answer a text or something and notice all my contacts gone and my texts and phone calls are just listed by numbers. It has only been happening recently. I have 1.6 GB of space left (of a 16 GB iphone 4) so I don't think it is a space issue, but what do I know? Could it be deleting my contacts because its out of room? I'm totally at a loss. Geez. Any help?
First synce after coming home, I received the "New Update" notice for ios 6.1.3, and procedded as usual. After about 10 min received error 1603 "ips could not be updated, an unknown error occurred (1603). Phone was in recovery mode. Shut down itunes, and removed the phone. When I connect the phone this morning, itunes recognized the phone being in the recovery mode, and the only way to proceed was to restore to factory default settings. I procedded, only to get error -1 after about 2 minutes! How to proceed without losing everything. I assume when I first connected the phone yesterday the synce did the backup, but not sure.
Hello all, After upgrading to ios 6.1.2 i started to experience battery drain.I was losing like 5-6% every 5 minutes in the Settings app.During my test I had everything off and the brightness set to low (i already tried the obvious solutions like turning off bluetooth, 3g, fetching mail, turning off location services, resetting the phone, restore as new, taking out my SIM, airplane mode, turning wifi off, the battery is in good shape). This way i could get around 4/5h of usage So, today i decided to upgrade to 6.1.3 and was hoping to see a change.However, the problem still continued. the only thing that i could do at this moment is to let the battery run out completelyand recharge till 100%. Yet, I'm sure this won't solve the problem at all since i already tried this on the first and second phone without any satisfying result.This is my 2nd iphone 4s, handed the first one in after experiencing this battery drain for weeks, and im kinda starting to lose faith in Apple's ability after having read tons of threads on this forum and wasting 3/4 weeks trying to solve this issue. After reading this, do you think it's time for me to go and replace the phone again?
Seriously trying to keep calm over the issues I'm having with the new iphone 5 !! I am currently on my 4th iphone 5 in less than 5 months and awaiting my 5th which I'm seriously considering putting straight on eBay!! The 1st phone I had the on off button packed in! The second iphone I had the battery life lasted me 4 hrs! The 3rd phone kept freezing and turning off! The 4th has decided to come up with the no service logo and yes I have tried everything under the sun to fix this but was told it was an issue with the phones software!! For the love of god what is going on with these phones?? I've loved apple products and own a few devises but seriously had enough now looks like you'll be losing a customer in the next few days I'm afraid ! :(
I've been waiting for months to upgrade to iphone 5 because I haven't found a car kit available that's equivalent to my Belkin charger car kit for my 4s. It seems that by the time one comes out I may have gone elsewhere because if apple can't help me move forward someone else will. I'm losing faith in apple, they are dropping the ball and losing touch with how we use our mobile devices.

My iphone battery was good up to iOS 6.0.1, with 5 hours of usage (2G) and even up to 5 days on standby! After upgrade to 6.1, it loses 2~3% battery every hour on standby (Wi-Fi and 3G off) and only lasts for 1 to 2 hours of usage before dead. It is not as bad as some who report losing 10% of battery every hour on standby, but to me, the battery life has reduced to a quarter. I have gone through many suggestions and solutions from reset and restore to using old backups and so on, but none of them worked. With my recent test, I am almost sure that the bug is in iOS. I charged the phone to 100%, unplugged it and set the Airplane Mode to ON and guess what? It is 5 hours now and the battery is still on 100% of charge! I am using 2G network and the signal in my area is very good (full antenna). I think the problem is in communicating with the BTS towers and nothing related to apps or settings. It is obvious that the Airplane Mode saves battery, but in recent iOS updates, it's 2G network that ***** battery more than usual. Are any of you with battery drain issue have tested this or may test it and report the results?
Just updated to the new iOS and now my 4S is asking me to connect to itunes, except itunes on my powerbook no longer recognises my phone. thanks Apple, another great job. anyone know what's going on? and how I can avoided losing anything on my phone? P
They both currently show -It says they will be shown again after fully charged but it hasn't.Since losing the counter I've charged it with battery life being under 20%, do I need to let the battery drain to nothing? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Dear all, Ever since I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS6 (which apparently in many aspects is a bad decision), I discover my contacts are emptied from time to time. It is apparent in occasions when there are apps needing to access the contact list (with instant messenging apps like Whatsapp, Line etc, or even the Contacts App itself), and once the disappearing happens, I need to wait the contact list updates (downloads) itself with the entries from iCloud. I also believe the same happened in the background when I do not notice it, because I usually set different ringtones for certain people in my contact list, when the list goes empty and is filled again back from icloud, I will lose all ringtone settings. So I believe this irritating bug must be happening few times everyday sometimes without me noticing. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, and would like to see if Apple would be able to do something about it. This is annoying because if I input a new contact on my phone through the contact app, when this bug happens, I will definitely lose the newly added entries. So to be safe, now when I need to add a new contact, I have to do it on a computer, accessing icloud.com and add directly to the icloud records. It's the first problem I experienced with my iphone for the years I have used the iphone products, but is also a critically fatal one...
Ok Guys .. Something wierd happened today to my 4S. All my notifications/alert are coming ONLY through 3G and NOT over wifi. To name few apps (iMessage, Twitter, ESPN ScoreCenter, Whatsapp, etc) Up until yesterday I was able to get notifications over wifi just fine. But starting today no more notificaitons over wifi. When I turn on my 3G and all of a sudden I get alert on my phone about iMessages, tweets, scores, etc. To rule few things out: 1) I tried resetting my router and did forget the network thing on my phone but still having the same issue.2) I'm able to surf on safari just fine.3) DND is off! Never turned it on!4) This is not due to phone losing wifi connection when locked, because I tested it. I waited after unlocked the phone and surfed on safari for few mins to see if i get any type of notification, but nothing until I go and turn on my 3G.5) Tried the phone on different wifi network without any luck. Anyone else having this issue? or got fix? Thanks!
Is it possible to add mailboxes (ie folders) to Notes on iphone to my iCloud account? I can do it in Mail desktop, and then it syncs over, but hoped I could do it on the fly? Am I missing something? Thanks
In my mail app it allows me to create new folders in the notes section so that I can keep multiple 'notepads' I guess you might call them. It's as simples as creating a new folder and then right away this syncs with my iphone and iPad and these new 'accounts' show up in the notes app. It's really useful for keeping a set of business notes and personal notes etc etc BUT , I can't for the life of me figure out how you go about creating one of the new accounts/note folders using the iphone or iPad ? I can't believe there isn't a simple + button somewhere to do this. I've noticed you can also add folders in the icloud web page, so surely they haven't simply left this feature out of the iOS devices entirely have they ? Please say I'm missing something obvious.....

I know the apps store will not give me an old version,that is why i do not use my Mac or iMac to replace the application however this has also been updated on my Macs. If it gives an initial message saying "iCloud data already exists", then press Cancel. It means it hasn't updated from iCloud that you deleted the data. You'll have to open the Settings app and go to the same Show All page again, just so the device tries to connect to iCloud again. Wait a few minutes before trying to enable iCloud again.- After it's done transferring the information to iCloud, wait a few minutes, then connect your 2nd device to iCloud and let it connect with the existing iCloud data. Why is the wifi reception on my iphone 5 so poor. I'm not talking about in my own home with my own router. I'm talking about AT&T hotspots, public hotspots, etc. I can hold my 3GS and my 5 side by side, the 3GS picks up more signals with more strength. The 5 seems to have a weaker wireless network than its predecessors. It's very frustrating because I can be 20 feet from a wireless router, and still only show 2 bars, if I don't end up losing the connection. What gives??
Hi,I have recently upgraded to IOS 6.1 and had some problems. I shall detail them as they happened. I used iTunes to update my iphone 4 from 5.1.1 to 6.1. This didn't work and it got stuck in recovery mode.I then went for a full restore to the new firmware which was successful.I restored my phone from a backup that was made only hours before only for there to be no change to the phone. No settings, contacts, messages, photos, app settings appeared on the phone. (The restore completed with no error messages) Confused, I synced a couple of times only to have all my apps appear but still with no data and no other settings. I restored again assuming there was a problem with the install. Same thing. I deleted the downloaded firmware and got a clean version from itunes. Restored, same thing. I was worried I had lost all my data and the backup was useless so I purchased a 'iphone explorer software' to analyse my itunes backup. It seemed ok, everything was there.I then check the file system on the phone and it looks like the restore has completed successfully as all the files are in the device backup folders. I still have no access to my contacts, messages or any settings/user info. What can I do to rectify this? Have I missed something?
hi all, i recently dropped my iphone 5 and shattered the front glass screen, the touch screen is still working normally but i am concerned as the glass is so badly damaged that it is starting to lose small pieces of the glass. Unfortunatly i do not have the phone insured as it was quite expensive when i aquired it and planned to get it insured later. Can i get the screen fixed for a reasonable price as everywhere i have looked seem to be charging around £200. This price is way too expensive for me to manage but i am worried if it is not fixed soon the phone will break completely as the screen is losing glass. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Here's my situation: You know how iTunes lets you scroll through songs you've purchased in iTunes? Great feature, except there's almost a self-destruct button in there. The "Download All" button in the upper right hand corner. If you accidentally hit that button, the last 250+ songs you've purchased from iTunes (assuming you've purchased that many since iTunes started in 2000-whatever) will get added to the download queue. But they won't download. The phone can't handle a queue that big (at least my iphone 4S can't). They'll be stuck in a perpetual queue, and it won't let you download anything else. It also won't let you play any of the songs on the queue, even if you manually transfer them from your PC or Mac via iTunes. Normally, you can tap a download and it'll let you swipe to erase it. But these seem to be frozen. I can scroll through the list, but there's no ability to swipe. Plugging this particular issue into Google brings up some suggestions, such as "reset all settings", "reset settings", and doing a restore from backup. But if your backups contain the offending download queue, it's restored as well (and I don't have a backup from before that point, at least one that isn't very, very old). So I made an appointment for the Genius Bar, and their solution (they seemed to recognize the issue immediately) was to wipe the phone and set it up as new. No problem, except there's no way to backup the SMS/MMS messages. The only method for backing up the SMS/MMS messages is the official backup method. There's no syncing or iCloud whatever for it. So now, I'm stuck with losing all the SMS/MMS from my phone from the past 5 years, or have an iTunes app on my phone that won't work. Has anyone else faced this and discovered a solution?

Hi, I have an iphone 5, about 2 and a half months old, white and 32gb on the Orange network.The past week or so I've had really bad signal problems. 3g and signal goes in and out all of the time, never stays on. EVERY TIME I make a phonecall, I get about 30 seconds in and I lose my signal and have to restart my phone, which just makes the whole process start again, I'd instantly lose it if I made a phonecall(if I even regained signal after restarting). Text messages off people are coming through all over the place and I can very rarely send any messages myself.It's extremely frustrating to have a phone that I can't even used, I plan on visiting the EE store after work today but is there anything else I can do to fix? I'm fully updated to 6.0.2. I have an almost two year old AT&T iphone 4. My wife and son also have ones that are about a year and half old. We just arrived on Kauai (Hawaiian island). Last year (Jan. 2012) on Kauai, my phone worked fine. But this year, I am having a repeatable problem in all areas of the island visited so far. The phone's 3G indicator comes on for a few seconds, then goes out. It does not switch to Edge. If I turn off 3G in Settings > General > Cellular, then it will make an Edge connection. But if 3G is on, then no data at all (neither E or 3G is lit). But my wife's and son's phones are working fine on 3G. And mine worked fine a year ago. I've power cycled the phone and reset network settings with no success.
Every day encountering the problem of losing signal ("no signal") even after update to iOS 6.0.2. I didn't notice any battery problems. The operator coverage is perfect in our are, so it seems to be the hardware or software. Moreover, I talked to my friend having iphone 5 - they also faced the same problem with signal.
I just got my mom's old iphone December 9th. So i added all my contacts into the phone. I have saved all the pictures i have taken in the main camera roll. So I hooked up my iphone 4 to the computer, and daved all of the "Camera Roll" pictures. I wanted to get rid of the other folders my mom has but save them onto my computer. Whem iTunes opened up after i saved my photos from "Camera Roll", it said something about iTunes not being able to read my iphone and that i needed to restore it. It shows the "iphone Recovery Mode". Will restoring my phone from iTunes (when itunes told me to, not my iphone) delete everything off of my phone from contacts to pictures?
I was having trouble with my phone losing the cell connection and got it replaced today. Now I have a phone that wont connect to my wifi network. I updated to 6.0.2 today also.
This is an iphone 5 16GB and has been fine since I first bought it. From 2 days ago it has started losing power at a terrific rate, losing approx 1% of battery life every 2 mins. I did download the iOS update but that was several days beforehand and it all seemed fine, it is literally over the last 2 days. Tried all the usual hints and tips for preserving battery life but even if you don't use the device the battery drains from it. It looks like a full reset does not neccessarily fix the problem so I suspect the hardware is duff. It also seems to get very hot, which cannot be a coincidence. Any ideas if the full reset will work? and if so should I restore from iCloud or iTunes??
