I got a small amount of water in my iphone, at first i thought it was ok but after about half hour the water had spread through my screen, and it started going blotchy and cloudy. The touch screen still works, speakers, charger, camera etc. Only thing is phone wont turn off? I tried the rice for a few hours but didnt do much. Does the apple warrenty cover water damage if not how do i get this repaired?
I've had my iphone 5 16 GIG for 2 months. The day after I got it from the store I noticed a annoying rattle. I know that there had been many discussions about this topic, but I was wondering if apple would replace my phone? It does have some damage from my cell phone case but that's it. I've only dropped it twice, would apple replace it for free?
Hello, There appears to be an issue with my iphone 5's rear camera microphone. When recording video it causes white noise and I can barely hear any audio at all. To diagnose the fault I phoned myself and put music on. I could hear the music fine without loudspeaker, I then switched on loudspeaker while the screen was facing upwards (to test the front facing mic) and it was fine, once I turned the phone upside down, the audio cut out. To ensure that my desk wasn't just blocking my front facing mic, I switched loudspeaker off and then turned it back to face up, then again to face down and then switched loudspeaker back on. Unfortunately it confirmed that was the fault. I have recorded voice memos and front facing videos with no issue, but when using the rear camera I still have the same fault. I have cleaned out the small opening for the mic and haven't caused my phone any damage, so I can't understand why this would happen? Has anyone else had this issue? Will I have to have my entire phone replaced, the whole rear camera or just the microphone? Are there any fixes I can perform myself? Thanks,Ross
Hi, I bought factory unlocked iphone 5 from US in Dec 2012. I came back to India few days ago and accidently iphone's screen got damaged. The phone is under limited hardware warranty with no extra apple care plan. I talked to Apple care in India and they say they cannot replace my damaged phone even if I pay to them Can you please let me know the procedure as on how shall i get my damaged Iphone5 replaced , can i ship it to directly to Apple or do I need to ship it to some of my friend in US or do I have to follow some other procedure? Please suggest. Thanks,Rahul
I received a refurbished iphone 4 under the 1year apple warranty. My home/power button became stuck, so I went to the vzw store and was told that it was a manufacture defect. I received refurbished phone and sent other phone back. I got my bill and now they charging 299.00 for a damage fee, WHY???My phone has never been out of its case and I know it's not my fault that the button got stuck. I know I'm not paying for no damage fee when the damage had nothing to do with me! Guess ill find new phone carrier cause this is a big boat load of b.s,!!!!!
My son's iPhone5 has water damage. Will apple care replace it even though it wasn't covered at the time of the damage?
There seems to be a lot of people out there dropping their iphone in the bath so I thought I would share my experience of fixing mine.Firstly if its in warranty consult your dealer - if this doesn't help try the following: A lot of people say stick it in bags of rice / silicon, etc but here is a quicker, more reliable way which is far less likely to contaminate one of the connectors. You do not need any special equipment. Make sure phone is off (If you can still see the screen) - hold sleep and Home for 5 seconds and tap the red off button that appearsPop your oven on a low heat ( less than 100C) for 5 minutes.Wrap your phone inside a sock, doubled over a couple of times so the phone is well protected.Turn oven offPop phone into oven for 30 minutes or longer preferably You could use a hairdryer but be very careful to keep it moving to avoid any localised heat spots that could damage components. If the phone got really soaked you might want to jump down to taking the phone apart - if it is still full of water powering up or charging could result in further damage Let the phone cool and try to power up, if nothing happens check for any signs of water vapour still in the phone and repeat if present. Otherwise try charging and powering up Still no success? this step requires a very small crosshead (some need a 5star) screwdriver, don't compromise and try and use a larger one, damaged screws will cause you even more expense. Very cheap on ebay. Unscrew the 2 small screws at the bottom next to the speaker, slide the back up and lift away. Unscrew the very small screw holding the battery connector in place and pry up the connector (lift the side nearest the edge first). Be careful not to lose the screw or the small metal bracket under the connector. Use the plastic tab sticking up half way along the battery to ease the battery out (usual there is a small amount of glue on them). This will reset the phone (you will not lose anything but the phone will hopeful power up when the battery is replaced). This is a good time to try the drying procedure again to ensure there is no more moisture present. Reconnect the battery screw everything back in place and press the wake button. If this has not succeeded you may need specialist help to test more components.Good luck ( and I cannot stress enough - keep the temperature low when drying)
I recently had my 4S replaced after my previous one had water damage. It was working fine at first but suddenly, whenever I take photos with my phone, they're not saving to my camera roll. I don't think it's a question memory space as I only have 1 photo on my camera roll.
Hi,there, my name is Ryan I am a big fan of Apple. I bought the iPhone5 on the same day it got launched in Belgium. After a few weeks, it felt of my hands on the ground, and a lot of pieces came of the frame. And from that moment until now, I am not happy with my device anymore. Is there anything that Apple can do for me, to change the frame? I still have my warranty.
I dropped a hard metal spoon while i was clearing up and it landed directly ontop of my iphone when it was the table and its cracked the screen. The phone still works as if no damage has happened, but its just a crack and im worried it will get worse. I bought this phone definately less than a year ago, around christmas because i remember being served through the fast lanes, so its still under warranty. I just wanted to know how much it costs to fix it. My friend told me she took her phone back when she owned an iphone because she had cracked the screen too by dropping it. And they gave her one free, so i dont know how much it is, but when my brother went because of the speakers not working on his, they wanted him to pay £119, but that was two years ago. I doubt very much i will get a free one because it was damage caused by me, so i just want a rough idea how much it will cost to fix because im hearing two different things. Thanks in advance
Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help : My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... ' I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue. My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ? Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i? My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Please can someone help... model a1332
My iphone, purchased in Hong Kong, suffered water damage in Canada and the personnel at the Apple store was unable to provide me with a replacement phone. Their reason is that HK model is different from the North American versions that they carry, hence replacement would need to take place in Hong Kong Apple stores. I am wondering if it came across anyone's situation where they were able to get a replacement iphone 5 in Canada, even though it is not the North American version. Alternative solutions are also welcomed. Thanks!
If the iphone reached 1% charge and shutdown, forcing restart can damage the battery...thisis the auto shutoff point to protect the battery. If the battery will not charge with different chargers on different outlets, it may have been damaged and needs to be tested by the techs at an Apple store genius bar.
As mentioned in Apple US website regarding Hardware Coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling, each subject to a $49 service fee.http://store.apple.com/us/buy/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone5?cppart=UNLOCKED/US &product=MD293LL/A&step=accessoriesIs it applicable in India also??? Plz help...
i have insurance on my black iphone 5 and i am making a claim due to damage,is there anyway i could get a white one now ?
I dropped it in water.. for the third time. The speakers do work, when i activate siri it works and registers my voice, and earphones work aswell. Sometimes the volume slider will show up, but goes away in seconds. I restored phone, riced it overnight, used credit card to try and clean out the ports and q-tip in headphone jack. What else is there to do to fix this?!
how to fix iphone 4 with water damage? I have had water damage for weeks, and doesn't work! I've watched videos and do not work, any help! if nothing can help fix it, can apple do anything? help please!
My phone slipped out of my hand landing face down on my kitchen floor. the screen is now cracked. nothing else is wrong with my phone and I want to only replace the screen. I don't see a need to get another phone if mine is fine (besides the big crack on the front.) I want to know if I take my phone to an apple store.. will/ can they replace the screen only? I'm not worried about price and I know warranty doesn't cover accidental damage.
You can not ship it to Apple in australia from outside of the country. They will not accept the shipment, nor will they ship a replacement outside of the country. You will either have to take it back there yourself or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service.
Is there any way to search text messages via the iphone serial number? I had water damage and had to replace, I thought I had backed up my phone to itunes but I can not find it with a text recovery system, wonderwall for itunes.
Had a night out got a little to drunk, woke up screen is ruined. where can I get this fixed? and how much will it cost to do so. Ive seen in many places about doing it yourself but id rather have it done professionally.
Less than two months ago, I purchased an iphone 4S 16G, as well as a LifeProof case, which the dealer told me was superior to an Otterbox. It is touted to be waterproof, dirtproof, snow/iceproof, and shockproof. Up until today, I have been quite pleased with my case, though the screen protector does make it a bit harder to to tap the screen. Today, I had my phone in my pocket. When I bent over, it fell out and hit the ground from a height of two feet. It was completely in its case, and I had performed all the checks recommended before using the case. It fell on to carpet. When I picked it up, the case was undamaged, but the entire front of my phone was shattered. It look as though it had been hit by a bullet. The screen still worked, but it was covered with tiny shards of glass. The damage seemed focused around the ear speaker at the top of the phone. I have in the past dropped an iPod touch, sans case, face down onto tile, and the damage was about 4x less than the current damage on my phone. I immediately called Apple, who told me that the warranty did not apply to my situation (though this was not a surprise). I would have to replace my phone, refurbished for $150 or new for $200. I then called LifeProof, at which point I discovered that their warranty only covers the case. They will not refund your phone, though they offered to give me a new case. The person I spoke to told me that he used a LifeProof case, and that his screen had cracked several times while using it. He recommended going to an independent phone dealership who would repair my screen. In short, this overpriced case does almost nothing. To be fair, I have had no problems with the waterproof aspect of the case. However, it will not protect your phone from even the most minor drop that would normally not damage the phone at all. I have seen several accounts of LifeProof owners who put their phone in their pocket and pull it out cracked. This case is not worth $1, let alone $80. For emphasis, I have included some photos of what my phone looks like after the fall. Remember, this was only two feet and onto carpet while in the supposedly shock-proof case.
So my iphone slipped out of the back of my pocket & into the toilet. Now its been water damaged for about 3-4 hours now & at one time it would allow me to make calls & text messages-the normal- but now that I am home from work, i have a red screen showing on my iphone. Theres no way that I can take it apart as of now because of the stores being closed already. & the nearest wal mart is pretty far. What do I do? Its currently in a ziploc full of rice. Will that at least do SOMETHING? HELP! HELP! HELP!
I have my iphone 4S like new; it had never fell off my hands to the ground or suffered any damage. It's wake and off top button have stop clicking but it stills working. I'm just afraid it will stop working after my warranty ends.Does Apple hasto give a new one or repair the one i had?
After my latest update on my iphone 4 my phone started just shutting down and restarting by itself. I have tried to restore the phone with the latest version of iTunes but now get the error message that iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode. Well that's fine, I selected recovery and when it appears that the recovery mode is going to go through the recovery mode returns an error code. The first code I received is the error 1656, then a 26, then the final attempt I got an error code 21. This phone has never been dropped, mishandled, or taken any physical damage. It was working great before I attempted to update. Please if anyone else has experienced this let me know how you resolved these errors. I have attempted every trouble-shooting step indicated on the Apple support site. HELP!
Hey all, I have an iphone 5, obviously less than a year old, and am having a really strange problem. Two days ago, I was able to charge my phone, sync it, everything like it was normal. Yesterday, it decided it won't charge. When the phone is dead, and I plug it in it has the normal charging screen and will get to 5% like usual. But then, there is no charging battery, and my phone charges SUPER slow. For example, yesterday I plugged in my phone at 3:50pm with 1%, and when I unplugged it (never used it while charging) it was 9:15pm and 34%. Continuing to charge it from then has resulted it up to 50% now. When it's plugged into my computer (Windows 7 Professional), I get a notification that says the USB device has malfunctioned. So I know from this and the very slight charging that it shouldn't be the cord, there is still communication between the two. I haven't updated my phone to the latest settings (it's on 6.0.2) and I'm struggling to try to update it now. I also don't want to Reset all Settings due to some of my photos and videos that I need to save and I don't want those deleted. What do I do? How do I go about fixing this situation? It really shouldn't be a battery since it's a decently new phone. It's been handled great and there is no damage to it and no drops. Help!
How could I revive it? it just suddenly stopped. No physical or water damage. Thank you for any suggestions as to what may be the reason or more importantly how can I restart it.

Hello I have an iphone 5 that I purchased upon release in New Zealand around December. Recentlly, more and more often, I will go to check messages or notifications on my phone by pressing the home or power button to wake it and display the lock screen (a simple enough task, one would imagine). However the screen will not show. They phone simply stays black. Sometimes I can press either button again and it wil wake, other times I will need to wait anywhere up to 10 minutes. I have tried factory restoring my phone to no avail. It is on the latest release of iOS and has had no water damage or major shock damage. Thanks for any help you can provide,Caleb
HELP!! I used my iphone 5 all morning, not a problem. No damage and my husband picked it up and it is requiring me to plug it into iTunes and restore it. I don't want to lose my photos, don't care about anything else. I have always used iCloud but don't know where my photos would be? Please help
I don't know if it's a hardware issue, software issue or what. If replacing the screen or other parts would help? Or if the phone is done for? Just really desperate! I don't know what to do! I haven't ever dropped the phone or had any water damage either... Please help!
Hello community. I do get the fact that there is million of threads, but I want to know the opinion of others on this particular case. I dropped my phone into the toilet (luckily, it was clear) and immediately got it out. As I had no experience with these kind of accidents, I actually didn't turn off the phone. I used a towel and then I wobbled my phone to get rid of the water. Then, as the phone started rebooting itself, I dried it with a hairdryer (yes, I'm an idiot) and used a vacuum cleaner to help the proccess. It kept saying this error [NAND] FileFlashAndMedia or something like that, so I turned it off for good and tried to restore it - I started getting the -1 error. After several repetitions, iTunes finally started restoring my iphone 5 and everything was back to normal. But then I came to the dreadful realization that the screen does not respond. Everything is ok - all the buttons, the display, even the sound seeems to be fine. So after these 15 minutes of panicking I started to read articles and watch videos of other people. Put the phone in a bowl of rice, sealed it and I turn it on from times to times to find out if the screen started responding. Any suggestions? Do you think there is a possibility to recover it?
my iphone 5 got water damage the screen turned red i put it in rice for a day it came back to life but now it will not boot up past the apple. i restored it but it still will not boot past the apple what am i to do?
In australia, how much would the gap cost to upgrade an iphone 4S 16g with an iphone 4S 32g? I really need more space, I didn't know that 1,000+ photos would take up this much room!
hi, good morning! To put my iphone to charge (totally original Material) The same battery exploded. I live in Brazil and bought him when he was on the U.S. tour and would like to know how do I repair this damage?
the man on the phone told me to jailbreak my iphone so i could get iOS 5 back.. but by jailbreaking a phone you lose the warranty anyway... considering this is apple's fault (iOS 6 has ruined my 4s capability to connect to wifi) ( and my girlfriend has as 4s on iOS 5 and that still connects fine ) i think they should be doing more i am a long time apple customer but i think this has made me want to swap back to being a windows user and maybe getting the samsung or HTC
I dropped my iphone 4 a while ago and the back over smashed. I then replaced it myself with a do-it-yourself package off the internet. The phone has since developed other issues with reception, signal, and a broken front camera and hold/unlock button. Will Apple replace my iphone for these faults or would they be unable to due to the damage that was previously caused?
so this weekend i was on the my iphone 4s making a call then i pu tmy phone down i picked it up a few minutes later to check the time and i cant see my screen anymore its either just black or it flashes white and has lines through it i didnt drop my phone so theres no outer damage at all i can still use the digitizer and everything works fine it just seems the lcd has stopped working ive tried hard restart restoring my phone to factory settings and everythign else i could think of but nothing works i have a repair request set up waiting for apple to send me the packaging to mail them my phone just wondering if the apple one year warranty covers lcd failure as it was not my fault and i just bought the phone brand new 2 months ago
Hi all, I have an iphone 5 which is only 4 months old and has full Applecare on it. Unfortunatley I had a horse decide to tread on it and the whole screen has cracked! I've taken it to the Apple Store and they have replaced the whole phone for a new one. Thats brilliant except that even though i've paid extra for the Applecare and its only 120 days old, I still had to pay £179.99! From discussions it sounds like there is an option in the US of purchasing Applecare plus, which also has accidental damage, however surely the UK's applecare should have some kind of accidental damage allowance!? After all we all know how small the chances of a hardware fault occuring on an iphone and that seems to be all thats covered with Applecare! I'd like to get other peoples views of this please. Don't get me wrong I agree that if you had a phone that was 6 months old or older, or you had decided not to pay a further £99 for Applecare, then i'd expect to have to pay to get the phone repaired/replaced, but it just seems such a waste of money getting Applecare when this is the most common problem thats bound to happen to your phone!
My iphone 5 is water damaged however (I think) it stills work - I hear Siri and the camera sound. How much does it cost for Apple to fix it or is it a paperweight?
Plz help
Hi, I've got an iphone 4 from australia but am planning to move to the UK in a few months - My phone is not locked to a network in australia so does that mean it can be country unlocked/ is already country unlocked?
they looked at my iphone 4 and the status page said: damage: Non-Authorized PartType: MLB what does that mean?the costs are by the way € 323,22!
I got my very first iphone in November 2012 I was totally converted, until I starte having issues with my iphone 4S... I made an appointment with the Genius Bar in meadowhall sheffield who after 3 appointments and the phone still being broken did indeed replace the handset. The new handset I now have has started coming apart... Its never been dropped or damaged but by the way it's going in about a months time the phone is going to be in about 4 pieces. I went to the Genius Bar who told me it would cost me £139 to replace! But hang on this is not my fault and I have like 300 days left of my warranty!!I then called apple support who told me the guy at the Genius Bar had logged the visit as accidental damage and that I had told him I dropped the phone!! The lady on the phone made me another appointment at the Genius Bar and sent with with a case ID and said they would replace the handset as because of the phone coming apart I was now experiencing signal issues, dropped calls and a lot of hardware issues... Only to get there and then tell me there's nothing they will do unless I pay £139!!!I'm absolutely disgusted!!! This is not my fault.. It's a faulty handset!!! But yet I'm supposed to be £139 out of pocket!!! Makes me wanna actually walk into store put the phone on the side and tell them where to shove the phone and go buy a Samsung! It's ridiculous!!!I really don't know where to go from here!Someone please help me :(
Last night my phone went completely dead while I was doing something for school. I put it on the charger as soon as I got into the car, maybe 30 minutes after it went dead. It's been charging for 17 hours and still shows an empty battery with a flash underneath. I've tried everything. I've attempted a hard reset multiple times, the screen goes black for maybe two seconds and then the empty battery comes back. Tried restarting my computer while my phone was plugged into it. Tried pressing the home button while plugging it into my computer. My computer isn't recognizing it when I plug the phone in. I am desperate. I don't have the money to buy a new phone. Please help. It hasn't been dropped. No water damage. I've never broken an iphone before.
My iphone don't work the speakers and the ringer and other don't function please i want the know its damage.
had my iphone 5 replaced yesterday due to screen going blank like its switched off you then hit the front and power buttons on and off till the screen lights up again in photo mode my NEW replacement has same problem so another 30 min drive and waiting to get another bodgy replacement worst part you cant even complain so looks like fair trading and i dont think apple is aware of the new warranty law in australia but once you get something replaced on warranty your warranty period is to re start
If you are lucky it is just the battery but it may also have damage to the dock connector and the logic board.
wont restore even though i have latest itunes downloaded! help!!
I got my factory unlocked iphone 4S November 2011 and now it won't turn on. It may have gotten into some liquid and was working on my car ride home, but the next morning it would not turn on. I noticed it was a little moist on the charger when I unplugged it. I tried plugging it into my laptop and a message appeared saying something about how the USB drive was drawing too much power and was disabled. Thinking it could be water damaged, I put it into a sealed bag of rice for a day and it still won't turn on. The water damage indicators are not red.
