My iphone shut off and will not turn back on

SO here's what happened,  I was texting a friend and listening to music on my iphone... Then all of a sudden I get this pop up notification that says "This adaptor is not supported" I didnt have my phone plugged in and then all of a sudden it turned off and will not start back up. I tried the following:Charge my phone for an hourPressed the sleep/power+home button for 20 secondsPressed the home button and plugged it in my computer while doing so Now with that said, I need to know the following:Is there hope for my Phone?And if I have to replace it, can I go to my cell phone provider-ATT and have them replace it ( I have insurance on it) because the closest Apple store to me is 3 hours away.  All the advice the better!

Water Damage iphone 4S

On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iphone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iphone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen  I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour.  About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iphone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode.  Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button.  I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iphone 4S when the next generation iphone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady

My phone will not restore properly iphone 4S

I just bought a second hand (perfect condition) iphone 4S today, the user sold it because they had upgraded to an iphone 5. The previous user did not restore the phone they just deleted all of their previous data (contacts, pictures, applacations, they left their 1,100 songs though), so I planned on restoring it later tonight to start fresh. I had it activated to my phone number at the Verizon store on my way to a family party and used it throughout today but put barely anything onto it knowing I would be restoring it tonight. I got home and plugged it into my laptop and went to iTunes found "Emily's iphone" and then hit the restore button like normal, it worked perfectly fine and went the whole 14 minutes it said it had to. Then my phone went to the "connect to iTunes" screen when it was already connected. I checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, and it all was perfectly fine. I tried the manual reboot (holding the home and lock buttons for a few seconds) and all it does is shut off and bring me to the same "connect to iTunes screen".. someone please tell me how I can restore my phone! Thank you,    Emily

iphone 4 gets very hot

Hello everyone. I have an iphone 4 16gb with iOS 6.1.3, so yesterday i was using it normally, put it back in my pocket with 36% battery. After 1 hour or so i pick it up again and I had a nasty surprise the phone was very hot and battery drained down to 15%, i didn't have 3G, wifi, bluetooth, locations or other stuff or apps running, the phone was in standby. I get home and try to do a restore and i got another surprise, while it was connected to the PC instead of recharging it the battery went down and the phone shut off. Managed to restore it eventually, it stopped heating in standby but whenever i am at the menu doing nothing again with no apps or other stuff turned on it starts to get hot in the upper right part, people say it's the CPU..i don't know what to think anymore, last time it did this a restore solved it but not this time..any ideas?

iphone 5 keeps shutting off

About a month ago my iphone 5 turned itself off. It does this now a couple times a day and I have to hold down both the menu button and the power button for almost 10 seconds to have it restart. Lately, I go to take the phone out of standby and it shows a power cable conneted to the iTunes logo. I still have to hold down both the menu button and the power button for almost 10 seconds to have it restart. The phone holds its charge and I make sure I am charging the phone everyday. Not sure what it is causing this. This morning when the power cable and the iTunes logo appeared I plugged the phone into my computer and opened itunes. It found the phone, but said it needed to repair and install everything from a previous backup. So I did that hoping that would solve the shut down issue, but it did not. Has anyone heard of this happening. The phone had been working great. Any thoughts?

Is it safe to double tap home screen. Hold down icon till it wiggles, and then tap on red minus to shut down an app? I was told by a tech at store this wasn't good? Yet others say it is. I don't want to stress out my phone.  What's the best solution?

7 days ago my phone fell into a pool, I spent many precaution and put it in rice for 3 days no power. And work like a champ again for the last 4. Last night the screen shut off while the phone still is working. I can't see what I'm doing, but I can play music... Plug in password etc. I've already tried pressing home and power button but the reboot always shuts off after a few seconds... Any ideas?

Hello everyone! Sorry I'm new here but I'll try and get as much information on here !My iphone 5 32g has been having massive problems currently and I would hope that I would noyt have to take it into the Genius Bar until compelte last effort.So what is happening as of now is that my phone will shut down randomly, and also for some reason will not keep a charge even when it is plugged in. I have tried countless restores, and everything I can think of in the book, but nothing is working for me! If anyone could give me some insight to my problem I would appreciate it!

I just purchased the iphone 5 coming from a Samsung Galaxy S3. Where I work, I do not receive cell phone service so I rely heavily on the WiFi to receive emails and iMessages.  I've noticed that if the phone sits for a few minutes, the wireless will shut itself off and as soon as I press the home or power button, the wireless kicks in and I get a flood of iMessages and an e-mail chime.  On the Samsung, there was an option to keep the wireless on all the time and my question is: Is there a way to keep the phone connected to a WiFi connection all the time so I don't get a delay in messages and emails? I know battery life will suffer and that isn't an issue to me. I just need it to stay connected so I'm not replying to messages 2 hours later when I pick up the phone.  Thanks,

Was charging my iphone 5 for about an hour or so after charging unplugged and went to playing games phone was at 5% so I grabbed my cable and plugged it into the wall nothing happened tried three different chords and blocks and sockets afterwards I plugged my phone into the computer and it wouldn't charge or sync with iTunes it acted as if it wasn't even plugged in so I shut the phone off and though I'd give It a break and try again later. As I got ready to go to bed I though I'd try to plug it back in and see if anything happened nothing did so I just left it I went to mess with it this morning and come to find out it was at 100% I continued to mess with it and i came to the conclusion that it only charges when turned off. I can't get the phone to reset and would love to restore with iTunes if it would sync with iTunes I don't know what I need to do but really need my problem resolved since its a hassle to have to turn off my iphone in order to get it to charge

iphone 5 working fine after drop in water except for home button. tips

Hello. So a few days ago my phone accidentally fell in water and was put in rice immediately after the fall. The phone is working perfectly fine as if nothing ever happened except for the home button. I have to constantly shut off and turn on my phone when I want to start/exit an app. At first I thought it was no biggie but now it's becoming annoying having to do it constantly. I tried holding down the power button and then the home button to see if it will work but nope! I then tried inserting the charger in the port and pressing the home button but that didn't work either. I, finally then tried, doing a full restore of my phone hoping that will work-yet still nothing. So after all these attempts and getting nowhere - I guess I have no choice but to take it to an apple retail store. My question - if anyone has had this experience and took their phone to an apple retail store did they have to replace your phone entirely or was the button "fixable"?  Or if anyone has been through this before and has done something I haven't tried to get their home button working, any tips on what else I can try? Although I have warranty on my phone and I've only had it for a few months, I doubt it will cover this so any idea or estimate of how much I'll possibly need to pay? Thanks for any help possible!

6.1.3 update killed my iphone 4

i have no idea why but after i updated to 6.1.3 over wifi last night everything was fine until i let the phone lose its charge and tried to charge it. it started charging fine at first but now it won't come on sometime. at one point it shut down after 30 seconds of working fine and then freezing... the screen turned white and froze one time before blacking out. it's on right now but only after again going black and respond-free for about 2 minutes. i made one phone call and went back to the music app then it went black again. ***

Update 6.1.3 Unable to Restore iP5 iphone 5

First synce after coming home, I received the "New Update" notice for ios 6.1.3, and procedded as usual.  After about 10 min received error 1603 "ips could not be updated, an unknown error occurred (1603).  Phone was in recovery mode.  shut down itunes, and removed the phone.  When I connect the phone this morning, itunes recognized the phone being in the recovery mode, and the only way to proceed was to restore to factory default settings.  I procedded, only to get error -1 after about 2 minutes!  How to proceed without losing everything.  I assume when I first connected the phone yesterday the synce did the backup, but not sure.

I just got a text message (not iMessage..) from a number 561-900-66--, with the message "Omg Cathy (my first name).." followed by a mysterious bit.ly/xxxx URL. I clicked on the link (thinking it's somoene I know since the person got my first name), it automatically re-directed a few times on my iphone's Safari browser.. ie. sort of like how spam/viruses go when you click on them on a real computer. I shut down the Safari app quickly but not sure how much of the page already loaded. Does anyone know anything about this spam/virus? And, is it possible to hack my iphone? How do I further protect myself? Please help!! For your reference: I have an iphone 5. It has not been jail broken nor have I tried to do anything shady to it. I'm fairly sure I have most of the latest OS updates.

During the last 6 day my iphone 4s ios 6.1.2 has turned off 3 times. This is the third time it has done it I really don't know what is going on with my phone. The first time it shut off was last Wesnday evening I was using it all throughout the day and was wrking fine the I put the phone in my pocket and went to go check if I got notifications and it was completely off. I was unable to to boot it back up. I connected it to iTunes and it said it was in recovery mode and I had to restore it but whe I tried to restore it, it would not restore at all the bar was not loading. So I kept it on the charger overnight and the next morning I turned it on. The following day on Friday it did it again, same thing. but this time when I plugged it to iTunes It was able to recover so I was relieved.  And then today I was using it this morning and it was fine after school was over for me I get my iphone out my pocket and it was off so I tried to hard reboot it and turn it on but it would not boot. So now I am here and I tried to plug it to the computer to restore it but iTunes is not detecting my iphone being connected to iTunes.  Can someone help me I am getting mad and frustrated.

My network can deal with monitoring, but he needs only shut off wifi and vola.Either the carriers need something (Which they may have and I should check with them, but if history proves anything they won't) or I need a way to make sure he can't change into private mode, clear history, or otherwise exclude our family from his experience. still having issues with connecting to wifi since updating to IOS 6.1.1 iphone 4S

It worked for about 5 mins every 40 mins up until 12 hours after updating the software. The wifi is greyed out (can't turn on or off) now, and I am becoming rather frustrated with this as I have been without internet for at least a week now, with my work relying heavily upon internet access. Any help would be great, I have done the hard reset, a normal shut-down, and I have restored my iphone twice now and still no change. ANY help would be fantastic!

iphone still stuck on logo after restore

Ok so here is what happened:I jailbroke my iphone 4 IOS 6.1, then reloaded the springboard. The phone was then stuck in an infinite boot loop, constantly rebooting and not progressing past the Apple logo. My computer and itunes were both able to recognize the phone, so I chose to restore the phone in DFU mode. The restore (according to iTunes) went through every step until completed. I can still open all the iphone files with itunes, see my music, apps, contacts, all that good stuff. Even download music to iTunes so it surely isn't that program. However, the phone still can't get past the logo! I can shut it off and put it into DFU mode, and iTunes can still restore the phone, but still no response from the idevice. Have I missed a step? Is there anything I can do to wake it up before replacing it? I can still access everything on it with my itunes so I don't want to replace it if it is still hanging in there for me...

My iphone 4S keeps shutting down before battery low

Why does my iphone 4S keep shutting down when it shows I still have 30% battery or more still available?   For example...my last phone started shutting down at 30% and by the time I took it to the store a couple weeks later, it was shutting down at 88% (they saw it for themselves, ran diagnostics, and came up with no issues).  Getting a new phone every 3 weeks is not ideal.  I'm on my 2nd replacement phone in 2 months and it started back up yet again-shut down at 31% a couple days ago.  I charge the phone to 100% and it never fails, it shuts down at a higher percentage each day (it shut down at 35% today).  I have done everything Apple Support has suggested with no luck (including full restore).  Is anyone else having this problem?  Any suggestions?

Apple not want to cover guarantee on audio module failure I-Phone 4S

I subscribed to the AT&T phone service and got the I-phone 4S still under guarantee until May 10, 2013.The problem started around December 09th, 2012 with:- the ringer started to generate a loud popping sound at every ring when there are incoming calls, - Later I discovered that the audio did not work for you-tube clips and Quicktime videoclips - The screen blacked out during phone conversations (it did not happen before) so I cannot type a note or check email during the calls.- During the phone conversation I cannot change the screen applications; as it is locked and blacked out.I then brought the I-phone to the AT&T, who explained to me that the I-Phone technical problems must be handled by Apple, so I went to the Apple store in the South Center mall in Washington the same day, December 28th, 2012. The technician there told me to make an appointment.On December 30th I went to the Apple store in Bellevue Square Washington, the first technician there told me that my I-Phone got “water damage”.  The second technician told me that it was not caused by water damage but there are too many issues going on at the same time, and possibly by resetting the I-Phone everything should be in order; to that all pictures and some of my data was lost during the reset process; but the problems remain and worsen:  My I-Phone intermittently shut itself down.today Wednesday January 23, 2013 I return to the Apple store in Bellevue Square and meet with the technician Ian Cochran-Keith who diagnoses the issues; he mentions that my I-Phone connectors got “corroded” due to “water damage” and proposes to me two solutions:- The audio module needs repair and the cost is 59$ but the issue could come back or- Pay 199$ and get a new I-Phone.(See attached note #3 from the technician) I would like to present my formal request to Apple to honor the quarantee on my I-Phone and fix the issue of missing audio on videoclips also the screen black-out during phone conversation, beyond that the phone is working ok, I can still receive calls, make calls and other applications with Safari internet surfing . I never have a problem with my I-Phone regarding any “water damage”. What “Water Damage” the technician is reffering to?  Falling in water? Rain? My phone was never exposed to rain or falling in any water or subject to any water contact since I got it, so what “water damage” the technician is referring to?  If there is water damage I am certain that it wouldn’t work at all, I would get nothing. I do not agree to pay for the audio module change or to pay for a new I-Phone as it is still under guarantee. I expect Apple to reply to me with a favorable answer and fix my I-Phone per the guarantee Sincerely Note: This letter is copied to the www.bbbsilicon.org also to the consumer protection websites #43187808

it alright to charge iphone while its off iphone 4S

It usually takes approximately 2hours to charge my battery drained iphone(4s). I'm wondering if I shut it down while charging would lessen the number of hours of charging. My concern is, if ever its system have a software/hardware that would prevent it from overcharging, still work while its off. Same question goes to other iphone models and all iPod and iPad generations.
