My iphone 4S thinks the headphones I had plugged in earlier today are still plugged in. If I adjust the volumne it says (headphones). I have already tried rebooting it and turning it off for a while and back on.
Lately I've been having probelms with my iphone 4s. I bought it in July of last year. The problems include: my lock button is jambed, the phone thinks that I have headphones in when I don't, and applications such as Camera and Safari constantly crash. The screen also does not always respond when I touch it and it does not ring or vibrate when I recieve calls sometimes (I did check to see if my ringer was on, along with vibrating in Sounds under Settings). I have Apple Care+. Can I trade it in for a refurbished phone? Also, for an extra fee would I be able to trade it in for a refurbished iphone 5?
Whenever I use facetime, the other party wouldn't be able to hear me after a few seconds/minutes. However, if I use my headphones, they can hear me properly.I think there's a glitch on my mic. Please help me
So last night I was talking via speaker phone and suddenly noticed that the sound quality was horrible. It was extremely grainy and scratchy sounding. At first I thought it was just something with the call quality so I turned off the speaker and talked on the phone normally. Later I got an e-mail and noticed that the tone that it made also sounded scratchy. So I tried playing a song through the iphone speaker and sure enough that was awful too. I know it's the internal speaker because the music played fine through headphones. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, how did you go about fixing it? Thank you!
Hey guys, my iphone 5 was bought in December at Bestbuy. I just made an appointment at the Genius Bar and I wanted to ask some questions about the one year warranty included with the phone. My phone had been working fine for the past six months and it's never been treated harshly ( I've always kept a good case on it and a screen protector ) however yesterday my lock button stopped working... whenever I click it the phone does not respond to it. The phone is basically new when taken out of the case and the only reasonable explanation for this, in my opinion is a defect of manufacture that recently showed up. I'm wondering what will apple do when I take my phone in? Will they replace it for another? Attempt to fix it? Will any charges be present? And what should I bring just incase they decide to replace it ( ex. headphones, charger?) Thank you.
I have an iphone 5 16GB for AT&T and I've had problems with the phone's home button (not recognizing my click) and issues with wifi connections on multiple networks. The phone is obviously still under warranty, but I have a dilemma. The iphone has a small crack in the upper right hand corner of the phone. This happened a few months ago, it doesn't come close to the screen or anything, but I'm wondering if Apple will refuse to swap my phone because of this. Does anyone have any experience with this?
my iphone will not leave the " not enough storage " notification , wether i press close or settings. it wont let me unlock or turn off my phone or accept phone calls with out my headphones .
I can not use the phone at all. It is frozen on the iTunes and USB screen. iTunes is not recognizing the phone as connected either. What do I need to do to fix it.
In the past few nights, my phone would charge if I had the cord in exactly the right place, but as soon as I touched it in the slightest, it would stopped charging. It did one of those charge, no charge things where it recognizes it for a second, vibrates to tell you it's charging and then stop and then start over again (lots of vibrates). Every once in a while I would get a "Charging is not supported by this accessory" notifications even though I'm using my factory-produced cord and adaptor. Then last night it stopped recognizing USB cords altogether. I tried two different cords, two different adaptors, three different outlets, and plugging it into my laptop. Nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions or have encountered similar problems? I would really like to be able to charge my phone before it dies. Thanks. Jason
hi, I cannot connect via bluetooth. It says it is discoverable and looks like it searching but doesn't find either my car bluetooth or my wireless headphones.
I installed a latest iOS 6.1.4 update on my phone yesterday. Since then my iphone stopped charging (wall charger) for no apparent reason. The USB on my laptop is not recognizing it and not charging it. Can you please help me sort this issue and fast ? Regards, Reena
Just yesterday I plugged in my headphones to listen to music, and music was only playing out of one side, and very vaguely out of the other side. I thought it was my set of headphones so I tried multiple sets of different headphones, with the same problem. Is there any way I can fix this? Or do I need to go to a best buy and try and get my phone repaired? Thanks
IS anyone else having issues after the 6.1.4 update? Here is what I have experienced in the last two days. 1- Unable to access a locked or secure network. It asks for password initially. When entered, it is unable to connect. I restart and then go to Settings, find the network and click. I never get a prompt for the password, just "Unable to Connect" 2-Bluetooth. I can after a few attempts to connect my Bluetooth headphones, only after I get a "Failed attempt" a few times. Then only music works, unable to make phone calls. This happens with two different products. A SENA SMH 10R and LG HBS 700. 3- Music play - I found this issue out when trying to figure out problem with Bluetooth. I can start to play a song fine, but if I click on the ">>" or "<< " it freaks the player out and then skips multiple songs or stops play and goes back to the playlist. At first it was doing this with the Bluetooth headphones when using it to make selections. So I deleted the devices and the iphone continued to do it when selecting functions on the screen. Some playlists did it and some don't. Creating a new playlist did not help. Additional Info.Apple Store replaced my iphone on Saturday 5.4.13 because if antina issues. The issues above came after I restored from backup and updated the OS. I have erased the phone 2 times since getting the new phone and restored from back up and rebuilt from Itunes and neither way makes a difference above. What is going ON? Well, I'm trying to listen to Songza off my iphone with no headphones, but its telling me I have headphones plugged in, so it won't play anything. Tried to make a phone call but can't hear anything unless I throw it on speakerphone.
All of a sudden yesterday my iphone 5 speaker went out. My phone was ringing and then it went silent. I tried playing music and typing with sound and nothing works. The only way I can get it to work is of I use headphones.
I Have dound coming through headphones when plugged in but it still comes through speaker
My iphone 4s earphone jack seems to only play music through headphones (I have tried a number of different pairs), cannot change volume or use microphone.
I have an iphone 4S that seems to work fine until the battery runs flat to the point there is no response when I press the sleep or home butons, the screen is just blank... When I plug into a charge point it will not take a charge. I have taken it to be repaired a couple of time and the guy a he mall fixes it in just a few mins and charges me 40 bucks. So long as I charge it before it goes dead flat I have no problem recharging or recognizing the phone on iTunes.Any help would be greatly appreciated...
My iphone 4 has been operating with a non-functioning power button for months, today it went nuts vibrating and then died. I can't do a hard reset (due to the power button) and I can't restore (due to the fact that I'm traveling and away from my iTunes). I've plugged into a friends mac and iTunes is not recognizing the device. Any suggestions? PS: I'm also in an apple store-less place for the time being. Help?
I got an iphone 5 Friday plugged in the headphones Sunday and only one earbud played music so I took it back and the swapped it out we tested the earphones before we left both earbuds worked and now only one works. What's going on?
Okay so my sister recently upgraded to an iphone 5 because her iphone 4s got a bit wet and it broke the camera. She gave me the 4s but it turns out it has quite a few irritating problems:The camera flash is always on. I tried a few software fixes that had worked for other people but no joy.The camera itself doesnt work. The shutter in the app doesnt open. The dock connector needs to be put at an angle for it to charge or sync and a slight movement can cause it to disconnect. The glass on the back is a bit cracked. The speakers don't work and it looks as if it is connected to a docking station in the music app when there are no headphones connected. She had this phone for over a year so there is no warranty but I have no problem with fixing/replacing some hardware myself. Would somebody be able to help me or point me in the direction for help with these probelms? any help or tips are greatly appreciated.
I've tried to listen to music with my headphones in but they do not work and it just plays my music out of the phone itself?
My iphone 4S stopped recognizing my Sim card - the Sim card still works in my friends iphone - what can I do
I've been using my iphone 4 connected to my 2010 Honda CRV via aux cable for a full year no pbs. Yesterday, in the middle of a song, it just suddenly stopped. The on/off click comes through, but no other audio (no iTunes, audio books, etc). I thought it might have just been a bum cable, so I tried a new cable. Nope. So then thought it was my phone - but audio works fine w/headphones (and its own speakers). Then I tried connecting the phone to my husband's 1997 Toyota FJ - and had the exact same problem. So - two different cars (on which the aux connection has always worked with my iphone 4), three different aux cables. The weird thing is that the on/off click comes through on both car speakers when it's connected, just no other audio. Oh, and I connected the phone to my CRV USB (which for some reason I'd never done before...) and it works just fine. Even better sound quality than before. But since my Husband and I often switch cars, and his doesn't have a USB port...would love to figure out what's going on so I can listen to my iphone in his car. Any suggestions on trouble shooting?
Hi, I use my iphone 5 for running and have bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth heartrate monitor connected. If I have the phone on my arm then all is fine but I would prefer to put it in the pocket on the back of my shorts/trousers but as soon as I do both devices go in out out of contact with the iphone all the time. What can I do to resolve this issue? Many thanks Kris
Hello, I bought a iphone 5 64gb yesterday from a dealer, went home & tried to change the ringers & noticed I don't have any sound at all.Yes, I had tried the switch on the left side of the phone. Music plays with headphones, paused music took the headphones out & tried playing a song to no sound yet again. Did a factory reset, nothing. Have the current version of iOS. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!
this started after a sceen replacemet, tried restoring but still nothing, does anybody know whats wrong with it?
HiNoticed yesterday that my iphone 4S thinks the headphones are plugged in, even though they're not. There's no sound from the speakers other than ringtones and alarms.Has anybody experienced this? Does anybody have a solution? Thanks in advance for any answers.
Speakers works with music, it works with headphones, it works with the ringtones in the setting mode but it does not ring when is in normal mode...Please HELP!!!!
Last night my phone went completely dead while I was doing something for school. I put it on the charger as soon as I got into the car, maybe 30 minutes after it went dead. It's been charging for 17 hours and still shows an empty battery with a flash underneath. I've tried everything. I've attempted a hard reset multiple times, the screen goes black for maybe two seconds and then the empty battery comes back. Tried restarting my computer while my phone was plugged into it. Tried pressing the home button while plugging it into my computer. My computer isn't recognizing it when I plug the phone in. I am desperate. I don't have the money to buy a new phone. Please help. It hasn't been dropped. No water damage. I've never broken an iphone before.
My volume bar disappears when I remove the headphone jack from it, making it unable for me to play music/videos without my headphones. I have cleaned out the proper places and I have even reset my phone (I did not hard reset it, I only reset all of its settings). I don't know how else I am supposed to fix this problem unless I have to go to an Apple store... which I hope isn't the case as I live about three hours away from the closet one.
I've had my iphone since October 21st, 2012. This is a white, 16gb AT&T iphone 5. The issue here is the ONLY way to get my iphone to play sounds is to have headphones in. It plays no sounds whatsoever unless its using headphones or during a call on the speaker by the from facing camera. I've tried turning my phone on and off, updating it to iOS 6.1.3, restoring the settings to factory settings, restoring my phone, then using a backup. I've tried the q-tip in the headphone jack, and pushing on the bottom right side of the phone for 10 seconds. It's only had a very, very small amount of water in it maybe 3 weeks ago. I rarely drop it, and I do my best to keep it in great condition. The first time I noticed the issue with no sound is right after I tried to use FaceTime, using speaker phone. I'm hoping there is someway to fix this without having to drive all the way up to the nearest Apple store and hassle with them. Any more suggestions, I'd gladly appreciate it.
I purchased a brand sim free iphone 5It is not recognizing any sim card i put in. What shall i do?Helpppp
Well, this is the situation, iphone 4S stops ringing and producing any audio FX only do vibrating alerts. No ring at incoming callsNo ring at incoming messagesNo sound in music player (but I have sound with inserted headphones plug)No sound at any appAnd Yes, I passed through "volume configuration", "side button", "do not disturb", "restore", "re-set" and all of the possible "common sense" options. Otherwise I would not be looking for a solution here, where people go to find solutions in the last place, when all other options have been exhausted. There is a lot of rumors about last "defective" iOS upgrades and many people reporting the same kind of problem: Our expensive apparatus stops producing sound. If I can't hear incoming calls it means it's not a phone anymore.Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't want to read "Build your own iphone" book. I just want to know if is there a solution for this particular problem or not? If "yes", what I have to do? If "not" I want my money back. (well the last argument is not for you guys).
Hello. I have an iphone 4. Software version is 4.3.5. I currently have the sound button on. No headphones plugged. When push the sound button up or down, I have on scree the usual volume screen, however, it says ringer (headphones) instead of just ringer. I have no sounds coming from apps (notifications...) and no sound coming from locking (it is set on on the settings). I cannot listen to the iPod music without headphones (no sound comes out of speakers). I only have these sounds when I plug headphones and the sounds come via headphones. Also, if I have the iPod on, with headphones, the iPod does not turn off when I remove headphones. I already switched it off and tried forced reset. Any ideas to solve this, please? Thank you
This has happened before and usually plugging my headphones in and out seems to do the trick, but not this time. I can't hear any sounds when my headphones aren't plugged in. I've tried resetting, turning things off and on again, tried cleaning out the docking port, and still nothing? Any ideas of what I can do before I resort to bringing it into apple?
I can listen to voice messages on speakerphone but not internet videos or music from player. I can listen to music with headphones only. I tried reseting setting and turning phone off couple times but not change.
After update 6.1.3 on my iphone 5 my speaker quit working. Did a restore still nothing. headphones work just fine. No speaker phone or music.
My iphone 5 64GB Speaker's suddenly stopped working but the Earphone works find and the headphones works fine to. But the speakers dosent work.Help someone?
I have power cycled.I have turned the volume all the way up while in a call.Plugged headphones in and back out. Siri raise to speak also not working. iphone 5 AT&T black 64Gig. The ear speaker below the Facetime camera has stopped working. Sound comes through the speaker phone. Anyone know of a fix, other than taking it in for a replacement? ThanksWillGonz
I've had this phone since July 2012, and my mother had it since the June of 2011 before me.I'm a teenager, and can't get myself to an Apple store - not that we have one locally. Basically since about September my speakers have been playing both music and ringtones incredibly quietly - it's barely even the same level as 1 volume bar. I've tried restarting it, i've updated it and blown on all of the speaker points, tried a hairdryer and still nothing. It's on full volume limit and full volume, plays fine with headphones and through speakers. It's literally just the bottom speakers, as the ear speaker seems to be ok during calls. As far as I know I didn't drop it or spill anything on it, and I doubt it's any of my apps?I really don't want to restore it to factory settings as I have apps from various itunes accounts, some of which aren't always accessible
I have recently updated my iphone and there is no audio? I can hear it when my phone rings or gets a message but I can't hear music or videos unless I have my headphones in, when I am in the music app it dosnt even have the volume bar it usually has, it's just blank and the volume buttons on the side don't seem to do anything?
Hi experts, need some help. I've had my iP4 for 2 years now, mostly trouble free. Recently my sounds have "mostly" stopped working and I just can't figure out why. I've done a lot of troubleshooting so here is what the symptoms are: - Volume up/down buttons do not work, nothing happens when pressed- Silent switch does not work, nothing happens when switched- Lock sound does not happen- Phone does not ring (only vibrates)- Phone does not alert or chime - Some apps audio does not work, but most apps play audio fine (youtube, music, videos, most games, etc)- When selecting ring-tone or alert sounds I can hear the sound, so the speaker is working fine Here is what I've tried- check all settings and switches, certainly not a setting issue- cleaned the dock connector with a brush, it is very clean- cleaned headphone jack, and insert/remove headphones multiple times- wiped all settings and restored to factory settings- updated to latest ios6 firmware- deleted "com.apple.iapd.plist" file using iexplorer, did nothing Seems like I'm just about out of options now! Thanks for any help.
Hi I've misplaced my headphones I was wondering if I would have to pay a fee to get new ones or if the AppleCare plus I payed for will cover it? I am in need of my headphones someone help please and thanks
Music, ringer, and text tone are all not working! Everything comes through headphones fine. Phone hasn't been in water or dropped or anything it just happened out of no where! Help!
When I downloaded new iOS 6.1.2 I now have no speaker, no ringtone, unable to listen to music w/out headphones. Has anyone had this problem/or solution?
there's a common problem with iphones where if dirt gets into the connectors, it thinks it is docked therefore making it seem like no sound is coming out quickest and easiest way to test this is simply, connect it to your pc with the connector and you will see once docked, sound returns ever since i upgraded to 6.1.2 today my iphone 4s has lost all sound. Can't play music, games, nothing. All the traditional fixes of the "iphone no sound" problem or the "it thinks its docked" problem do not work. CONNECTING THE iphone TO THE PC does not even restore sound.. the only way to hear sound is thru the headphones Apple what have you done??? No changes were made to my iphone except for this stupid upgrade. It's not jailbroken. I haven't had problems with it whatsoever. Fix it shoddy QA you guys are doing what gives this is a widespread problem. ANYONE OUT THERE MANAGED TO GET THEIR SOUND BACK after 6.1.2 upgrade?? if so, what did you do? DO NOT RESET YOUR PHONE. It does nothing. DO NOT RESTORE YOUR PHONE FROM BACKUP. It does nothing. <Edited by Host>
Hello I got a really strange and annoying problem regarding my iphone 4 audio jack. the problem is whenever I play a sound the right channel of the headphones play's music really scrappy and low quality, especially the bass. but on the left channel everything works as it suppose. I am starting to suspect that it is a hardware because even after a clean restore it is the same and if the volume level is under half'ish then the right channel will barely work untill the volume is raised to 3/4 of the max volume making it seem more hardware related. thing I tried: clean IOS restore checking the jack with other headphones/stereo systems all of which gave the same results (right channel scrappy and left is clear) I also tested the headphones themselves. thanks Tal
As per description - the phone works but the volume buttons do not show the sliding scale of volume and if you try and play music or watch a film etc you cant get sound. If you plug headphones in it works as normal. any ideas how to fix this please - the 6.1 update caused it
My computer is not recognizing my iphone 5 when I plug it in to transfer purchases and update. I have had the phone for awhile and it was working just fine.
