Testing Bluetooth iphone 3G

My wife and I both have 3G iPhones. She got a Plantronics Voyager 520 Bluetooth headset for Christmas, and paired it with her iphone instantly. No problem.It wont pair with mine at all. Ive tried all the obvious things... soft reset of the iphone, hard reset, turning the headset off and on, etc. Occasionally, on the iPhones Bluetooth Settings screen, I get a brief flash of Headset, but it always goes away quickly. I never get the Plantronics 520 display that my wife gets.Im always dubious of claiming a hardware problem, but this seems pretty suspicious to me. Is there anything I can do to test my iPhones Bluetooth chip short of buying (or borrowing) a different Bluetooth headset? too many to count Mac OS X (10.5)

iphone top sleepwake button not working Apple Logo screen at startup

I have the original iphone. I have two problems, both just happened tonight at the same time. For seemingly no reason just my iphone external top sleep/wake button is not working. I tried powering the phone off and back on. I tried resetting my iphone, and restoring it. I made sure my iphone software is up to date. None of these remedies have fixed the button. The button doesnt look broken, it pushes in and out, it just doesnt work anymore. Second problem is, after I power my iphone off and then back on, the Apple logo screen will continue to flash on and off indefinitely. The only way to get my home screen to appear is to connect my iphone to my computer. Then it wants to sync. After syncing it then asks if I want to power off or cancel. Huh, why does is it doing that? To turn my iphone off I am pressing my Home button down until it shuts off, since I cant power off with the top black button. Is that the reason my phone is having the second problem, because I am powering off with the Home button? Could it be my second problem is not a problem?My iphone 1 year warranty is over. I cant call Apple Care, there is no apple store near me. I need a solution I can do at home myself. Please help. Even if you think the answer is obvious please suggest it to me. I tried to erase all content and settings and now apple logo wont leave iphone

I had a lot of data on my phone and i wanted to get rid of it. so i went to the settings and went to reset. then i chose erase all content and settings. that was at about 330 today. it said it may take about an hour and i tapped ok and the apple and loading bar came up. i left the house without my phone figuring that the process would be done when i got back. i got home about 2 hours later and my phone was stuck on the logo and i couldnt get it to go away. i tried reseting it and nothing. i let the battery die and nothing. its still stuck on the logo and ocassionally the little loading circle apears and once in a while it will vibrate or flash. can anyone help me? my phone is basically my life and i depend on it for so much. any advice is greatly appreciated. dell Windows XP

Transferring iphone account from one PC to another

I am currently looking to get a laptop for school and was going to go with a MacBook, however all of my stuff from my iphone is on my familys desktop PC. Is there a way to transfer my iphone account from my PC to a MacBook or even another PC such as my moms laptop? Would it be possible to just copy my iTunes folder from my PC to a flash drive and then move it to either a MacBook or another PC and still be able to synce my iphone properly? At least a second cell phone from Apple. There is the iPod mini, nano, classic and touch. There is the Mac and the iMac. There is the MacBook and the MacBook pro. I think it they should have at least two models of cell phones one being the iphone. The second (if it were up to me) something not so wonderful as the I phone but competent. Been Thinking About Switching From Treo 650 WM to iphone

Hey all Ive been thinking about switching to an iphone from my Palm Treo 650 which has Windows Mobile 6.0 on it. I dont have any real reason to switch other than I think the Iphones are pretty cool and that the Treo needs to be reset quite a bit, several times a week. I also like the voice mail setup on the iphone.Ive been doing some reading here about the iphone and understand that it doesnt do flash, video recording, MMS with pics, or copy and paste. These are all things I do on my Treo a fair amount but figure I could live without and use the work around for the MMS.My main use for my phone is to call and receive calls as well as email, text and my calendar. I mainly use it for work but its something I always have on me and would have a hard time living without. Oh, I use Exchange on my Treo and understand that I can do the same with the iphone so this is good.I also have some videos on my phone as well as miscellaneous files, like notes, excel, word etc.Im wondering, is there some sort of file explorer on the iphone? I use one on my Treo all the time to find certain files that I may have stored on the memory card or in main memory. Im thinking if you download something from the internet and save it to your phone, how do you find it later?Also, Ive been trying to find compelling reasons to make this switch and am not sure if its the right thing to do so I would like to be pushed toward the iphone with good reasons to make the switch. If I dont need to spend 400.00 bucks right now I dont want to. I figure 300 for the 16GB and then a case, car adapter, etc it adds up.Thoughts, suggestions?Thanks.

iPhone3g infinxx motorola I need help

Okay. I have the 16 gb iphone 3g. I recently bought a ski helmet with a motorola a2dp bluetooth device which allows the helmet to answer calls, voice dial (not on the iphone!), control mp3 player volume and pause etc. On my first day using it, I connected the iphone by the built in bluetooth for the phone features and also connected a cord for mp3. The mp3 controls didnt work!!!Then I bought the infinxx ap23 bluetooth transmitter adaptor. I was able to get 100% phone and mp3 functionality through my helmet controls (this is critical as I dont want to ski to the base and remove all of my gear to do something) However, I went skiing a few days later and only got the mp3 player going bluetooth. I could hear my phone ringing in the helmet but I couldnt answer it. During a lunch break I played with my helmet and bluetooth adaptor trying to get them to work like they did before. An iphone Toilet Some Rice and an Oven

Yesterday, I managed to drop my first generation iphone in the toilet. In a flash it sank to the bottom, resting there, fully submersed. I grabbed it up, dripping, with all the speed I could muster, slowed only by the involuntary and very loud expletive, and carried it to the sink for a quick rinse as an ingrained need for cleanliness overwhelmed my regard for science.The Apple Discussions pages offered little hope: No warranty coverage, a warning over a repair scam, referrals to services that would charge near replacement cost for an unknowable chance of uncertain recovery.The only hope seemed to be a legend reported by a couple of owners that embedding the iphone in rice might suck out and up whatever moisture it had accumulated in its two swims.I put my phone, with its 900 contacts, 1,100 songs and 200 family photos into a bowl and filled the bowl with about a pound of rice that had been vacuum packed, perhaps two cups or so. My theory was that the rice would act as a homemade desiccant to draw out all the moisture on and in the phone.After thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided to take everything out to the garage, where I used a can of compressed air to blow out the phones earphone jack and the docking hole. Then, back into the rice it went.After an hour or so I grew concerned that the rice was attracting moisture from the air, conceivably either wicking more moisture into the phone or at a minimum not being as effective as I had hoped. So into the gas oven it went, the phone, rice and bowl. I figured that the gas pilot flame puts out just the right amount of heat, probably keeping the oven somewhere in the 130 to 150 degree range.I left it there overnight, hoping that the trick would work but without any confidence at all.First thing next morning, I pulled the bowl from the oven and the rice-dusty phone from the bowl. Without even blowing off the dust (which I did later), I turned on the phone. It lit! It worked! As the day went on, I tested all of its features. They all work just fine.So far the fix is working. While I am not certain that its permanent, I am confident that the phone got a really good drying out.If it were to happen again, I might be tempted to use a Ziplock rather than a bowl, the theory being that the rice would then attract less moisture from the free air. Also, in a perfect world Id probably rinse it off with denatured alcohol rather than water. There are folks who say that would displace the water better.But for the moment, Im a happy camper, lesson learned about toilets, iPhones, gravity and shirt pockets, and you have a story. 2 issues USB and itunes annoyance problems iphone

iphone 2g 8GB running 2.2 software.first, i have a problem with my iphones and my imac 20 pre-aluminum intel dual core. almost every time i connect the iphone, my keyboard and mouse, or just my keyboard, stop working until i disconnect the iphone, unplug and plug the keyboard back into its USB port on the back. i have tried using different combinations of USB ports for the phone connector and the keyboard to no avail. is there a software fix im not aware of? should i ask for a new phone or something?second, is there a way to stop itunes from coming to the foreground and expanding to full window every time i connect my iphone? most of the time i just want it charged and have no interest in having whatever itunes is doing in player-only mode interrupted so i can look at my iphone in itunes. this is really disruptive and kind of user-unfriendly, at least to me.tia, all. iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Broken home Button on Music player iphone 3G

Well Ive only had this problem twice now, but here it is:Sometimes when playing music, the home button stops functioning, and I cant exit out of the music player. Lock still works, as does the touchscreen.Just wont exit out of the player when i click home.Both times I had to turn the device off and reboot to make the button work again.What should I do about it? New to iphone

Im a recent convert (only 2 weeks) from Blackberry and while I really like the iphone and most of its features I am greatly missing some things my Blackberry could do. Could someone tell me if I just overlooked some features or if they are in the works at Apple for a future upgrade.1) cut and paste - very helpful and often necessary. I used this a lot between mail and contacts2) sorting my email messages by subject or address3) having additional folders in email - I see where there is a move feature but how do I create a folder to Move messages to to organize my mail4) meeting invitations are not automatically saved to my calendar. this is very time consuming having to enter these.5) zoom on the camera - photos are much better then Blackberry though. Also no flash. Had flash with blackberry. IMAC

Battery BarMeter always full iphone 3G

Hi, first of all sorry for my bumpy englisch!Ive a big problem - I got my iphone 3g 8GB one week ago and since the beginning my battery meter (in the top right corner) shows always a full battery sign. And after puting in the power plug it always show the fully load picture and not the flash. I also get no messages like - 20%, 10% ans so on.Always a full bar and surprisedly everything is black. Phone wont respond from sleep iphone 3G

This is a strange issue I have been having from time to time (maybe once a month?). I put the phone in sleep mode by pressing the button on top and when I try and wake it by pushing the center button, nothing happens. I push it multiple times and hold it even try pressing the top button and the two combined but the only way around this is to do a reset....has anyone else had an issue like this? sounds software-related?sometimes when I push the center button to wake the phone it sits there until I push it again and then the phone will flash the wake up screen twice as if it did not register the first time until I pushed it a second time..weird. Have tried several hard reset without success. Hey community.I recently got this JBL On Time iPod music player, and I have the older iphone 4GB.I plugged the iphone into the JBL On Time player and my ipod turned off. I took it off and tried to turn on the phone, nothing happens, i plug it into the computer, nothing happens.My phone is really hot now, and will not turn on, basically a brick now. iPod player auto launches without user action iphone 3G

My iphone 3G seems to launch the ipod music player without me calling up the application. Quite often my ipod will start playing on the home screen even though i have not launched it or attempt to start it. Its wired. I will just look at the phone or insert my ear buds and the music is playing away. I know the double tap on the home screen button launches the player in locked mode, but I am not hitting the button at all. I think this may realte to my iphones horrible battery life. Any ideas? Having problems with multiple apps crashing. Safari crashes if I have too many open windows or go to a graphics heavy or flash heavy pages. Bought Classics and Stanza for ebook reading. Both crash every time I load a book. Im beginning to think Ive got a bad memory chip. Any ideas other than back to the Apple store?By the way, rebooted, ran a full restore, etc. No help. Hi,I want to put some .mp4 video files on my iphone, but I cannot add these movies to the library in iTunes to then add to my iphone. When I click on File->Add File to Library... I choose my file and click Open but it does not get added to iTunes and thus I cannot add it to my iphone. Is there a preferred format for video files? After 3 months of using 3G iphone, I see alot inconvience on iphone because of limited to Apple. No flash player Can not save PDF or file to the phone, even though you have at least 8gbs iphone. No Video recorder No MMS Have to pay for ring tones Camera have no zoom in/out/flash And many more............. Yes, Apple is the best on touch screen, but not on the features. The iphone 3G will be stay in draw, when Nokia E71 arrive sometime next week.
