Ring Tones iphone

Im a new iphone user and have searched and googled for an answer to my question, sorry if this has been discussed previously. Are music flies the only custom ring tones available to the iphone? My wife has a LG Spyder and she is able to bluetooth custom ring tones between coworkers (crocking frogs, quaking ducks, etc...). Are similar ring tones available for the iphone? I realize you can create custom ring tones via iTunes using music files but Im really not interested in that. Just upgraded to the 3g and Im currently trying to set up my Gmail account on the phone. It will not let me and when I click on the email icon the only thing that shows is the inbox colum. it will try to get my emails for about a minute and then a message saying connection to the server imap.gmail.com failed. Just bought a 3G tonight...I intended to use it completely with the charge that it came with out of the box and then charge it fully and deplete it fully. Activation screen comes up on an already activated phone iphone 3G

Ive had an active iphone 3g since July. Twice in the last 24 hrs: once when home button pressed to awaken after just being in my pocket and the other time when powering on after being off for the night, I got the screen graphic showing connect to iTunes to activate (graphic of cord and iTunes logo) as if the phoe were brand new, with no service and only the ability to make a emergency call from the keypad (after slide). Luckily I was near my computer both time but may not be if it happens again. Once attached to computer and device recognized by iTunes, the phone screen says iphone activated and everything is back to normal. All my apps, tunes, contacts, etc are still there.I take real good care of the phone. Never dropped; usually in my pocket when not in use. Software says up-to-date.Never happened previous to yesterday and nothing different that day. Anyone else having this issue? Any recommendations? Apple support said to restore the phone via iTunes. What a hassle, with all the backing up I have to do. But if that is the only recourse, Ill have to do. Its like, well weve never heard of that one so just restore it - an easy answer. Any other ideas that are not so drastic? iphone

Anyway to use Gps to track lost phone iphone

Unfortunetly, this being the second iphone i purchase due to having my previous one stolen, i then agian misplaced it. I do know this one was not stolen but was completly my fault. This brings me to my question of, how come apple cannot locate my phone using the amazing gps the phone already had available on it?. A charge would be completly appropriate, but i believe it would just bring somthing more to the table. Everyone at one point either misplaces or reports their phone stolen, so why not a nifty idea of having the phone completly trackable so no one would ever even think of stealing this phone again? i think this is a great idea, but perhaps i am over looking an application that is already available. please, and references or commments, i am more than happy to listen to. iphone 3G Windows XP

Does anyone know if there is an application that might let you find your iphone through GPS if it is lost or lock the phone with the use of SMS/text message commands. iphone lost its charge

Had a full charge and picked up the iphone put it in my pocket and when I got upstairs the battery was on red. What happened? I called tech support and the automated help had me reset it and then it took the charge, but It really scared me. Any ideas? Home button doesnt work iphone

When I press on the Home button, nothing happens. When I press on it a second time, it takes me to Favorites as if I had done a double-click on the Home button.The phone still can send and receive calls, and can sync with my computer. I just cant get to my home screen.The phone also doesnt power down. Holding the power button does nothing until I release it, after which it goes into a sleep mode.Trying to reset the phone doesnt work. Saving contacts to S card iphone

Does anyone know if the 3G saves contacts to the SIM card automatically? I was able to import the contacts from my old SIM card but I also want make sure they save to the new one, as well as save my future contacts. Most of my phones have saved to SIM automatically, but my last phone did not, which I didnt discover until something went wrong with it. I cant find anything about this in the phone or the manual. iphone 3G

iphone takes nearly an hour to back up and sync

Can anyone shed some light on this......both my boyfriend and I have iphones and we have a macbook. The main user account is mine and then I created a user account for my boyf so that he can sync his iphone independent of mine, with his own itunes etc. My iphone backs up and syncs really really quickly but when we try to sync his phone on his user account it takes at least 3/4 of an hour and sometimes an hour +.Does anyone know why this might be? Sorry that was a little vague due to space limitations.. Basically, I got a replacement phone, and the guy at the genius bar said that my data would be restored to it when I sync it. Im a little concerned because sync-ing just got the black data off my phone when I had installed enterprise support months ago. so I thought Id ask if I should be doing anything special for the first sync to get as much info back in the phone as possible. side question: I noticed I have none of my address book despite using my old sim card. Some small problems with my new 3G iphone

Having some small problems with my new iphone, nothing major, just annoying.1. When I plug my iphone in to charge/sync my Adobe photoshop keeps trying to download the photos on my iphone, which causes an error message from Adobe that it cant download and it stops all syncing and removes my iphone from iTunes. I have to unplug and reinsert USB cable and sometimes it works ok and sometimes I have to reinsert again. Also when charging, it will disconnect, reconnect and the samething all over again, photoshop trying to get photos and an error message.2. Cant send e-mails via 3G? Ok, the replacement phone is working good, but when I sync to my itunes, the system made me restore the phone to factory settings and erased the applications that were left on the iphone, sad but have not a problem with that, the problem is that the favorites screen is all black, nothing comes out, just a black screen. can someone please help?Thanks. Please help My itunes just stops during sync but says sync In Progress iphone

Ok Ive tried syncing my iphone to itunes and it just says sync in Progress. It never stops. Now it makes it through the Backing up iphone portion but as soon as it gets to syncing contacts, it just sits there saying its Syncing contacts with iphone. Now Im not sure why its doing this, this just happened out of nowhere, so Ive even restored the phone twice, once as a new phone and then again with the option it left from restoring it the first time. It syncs the music, apps, and videos when I uncheck everything in the Info tab, such as contacts, calendar, etc. So its something to do with everything in the Info tab. Synching Irritations. iphone 3G

Two really annoying things that continue to drive me up the wall:1) Every time I want to transfer pictures onto my phone or maybe just even one new song, why does iTunes force me to do a complete backup of my phone? What would take 10 seconds ends up taking 20 minutes for absolutely no reason.2) Why when I opt NOT to sync ALL of my apps, does it tell me it will REMOVE Them from my phone completely? No! Why would I want them DELETED? Since when does not copying over something that is ALREADY ON THE PHONE mean that I want them deleted completely from the phone? It doesnt make any sense. None. If I dont have them all checked, it will delete the one not checked.I tried to NOT sync my apps so that I could speed up the process of just syncing my photos. So it tells me its going to delete all my apps if I do that. iTunes is such a miserable failure in the world of Apple/Mac which dominates the logic/useability world in every other arena. It continues to confound me the absolute poor structure, logic, and programming of their flagship software app.I mean seriously, how hard is it for this application to know that its already got all my apps both in itunes and on the phone? Every time I connect it, it starts copying over my apps all over again. Why? Is this 1983 when it cant tell if the app has been updated and needs synching? If someone can give me some input on these items I would appreciate it. VAIO

questions regarding syncback up iphone 3G

Hello. Ive recently had some hard drive issues on my laptop, which forced me to reformat my hard drive. My iphone now thinks I am using a different computer, which I guess means I need to resync and delete everything on it. What a pain...I have some pretty straight-forward questions, and Ive searched the forums looking for answers but havent found any yet, so excuse me if these are asked 1,000 times a day:Will backing up my iphone really do me any good, in the long run? I guess Im confused about what actually is preserved by doing this.What exactly is lost during a new sync? Will I lose all of my contacts, text messages, and pictures? Or will it just be any music and pictures Ive synced via iTunes? I want to know if I need to type out the numbers and contact info of everything.What about all of my apps? iphone stuck when first syncing

i recently purchased an iphone 3g 8gb. loved it and everything worked flawlessly with it. i released that the 8gb wasnt enough so i went out and exchanged it for a 16gb phone instead. so i came home to sync it with my itunes and its stuck in the sycing stage. its stuck on syncing contacts. i have restored it and tried to uncheck the options to sych with and no matter what it gets stuck syncing anything. can anyone help me out with this. id like to be able to use my new iphone instead of watching it sycn. it is using software 2.2 please help! imac 24" Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I live in Seattle and am traveling to London next week. Ill be using a calling card from my hotel-- so I dont want to be charged with roaming fees or phone charges or data fees.How do I set up my iphone to be of use to me while Im there. Should I turn on Airplane mode the whole time and simply have access to contacts and addresses, are there other settings I should know about? iphone 3G wont backup.

Ive had this problem for awhile. When I plug my iphone in and iTunes opens it shows it backing up. The status bar grows real slowly and then basically stops at a little less then half way. Why is this? I already deleted the current backup, but I am still having this issue when I try to sync. I also restarted my phone but still no luck.I always end up clicking the x next to where it says backing up since it never backsup.Any ideas? MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.5)

iphone top sleepwake button not working Apple Logo screen at startup

I have the original iphone. I have two problems, both just happened tonight at the same time. For seemingly no reason just my iphone external top sleep/wake button is not working. I tried powering the phone off and back on. I tried resetting my iphone, and restoring it. I made sure my iphone software is up to date. None of these remedies have fixed the button. The button doesnt look broken, it pushes in and out, it just doesnt work anymore. Second problem is, after I power my iphone off and then back on, the Apple logo screen will continue to flash on and off indefinitely. The only way to get my home screen to appear is to connect my iphone to my computer. Then it wants to sync. after syncing it then asks if I want to power off or cancel. Huh, why does is it doing that? To turn my iphone off I am pressing my Home button down until it shuts off, since I cant power off with the top black button. Is that the reason my phone is having the second problem, because I am powering off with the Home button? Could it be my second problem is not a problem?My iphone 1 year warranty is over. I cant call Apple Care, there is no apple store near me. I need a solution I can do at home myself. Please help. Even if you think the answer is obvious please suggest it to me. Before tonight nothing was wrong with my iphone. It all started after I let my 6 and 7 year old nephews play with Google Maps on my phone for like 10 minutes - supervised. iphone Restore Help Please

I had to do a restore from backup on my iphone today because an app just totally messed up the phone. I restored from back up successfully i think all my info was back on the phone. The only problem is that now, since this is the first time that this has ever happened to me, when i try to sync it wont do anything. For example, i added new music to itunes, my settings are to sync automatically, but it wont do it, i manually have to take the song file and drag it to iphone icon on left hand side of itunes when the phone is connected for it to sync the song to the phone. I also now have to do this with ringtones that i make, and videos. When i go to the music section while iphone is connected and it says automatically sync selected songs, it did give me a message like if you check this, all your videos and songs will be deleteed. iTunes wont recognize my phone iphone

Hey, I just downloaded iTunes 8 and signed up for MobileMe. Now iTunes wont recognize my phone, its a 3G. Also in the process I reset the default settings in my keychain and lost all my bookmarks, although I do have 99% of them in my iphone. Can someone tell me how to get my phone back in synch with iTunes. Ive done everything on the support page to no avail. iphone 3G doesnt sync calendars and contacts via mobileme

Hi.Since the initial setup, my new iphone 3G doesnt sync up with MobileMe. after some trouble in the beginning MM works fine now between my Powerbook and my iMac but although my MM-settings on the iphone are correct and set to sync calendars and contacts, it simply doesnt. I have tried everything on the iphone: Push (nothing happens).Disconnecting push, using manual or automatic (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour). Deleting my MobileMe account on the phone, thus erasing all contacts and calendars, then retyping everything correctly (and getting no message to suggest otherwise).ITunes too tells me, that calendars and contacts are synced through MM and I cant sync iCal and contacts using the cable either.Also, when I open System/MobileMe/Synchronize/Advanced on either of my computers to see the list of devices connected to my MobileMe, it only shows my computers on that list - not the iphone!Can anyone help me with this or do I just have to wait for Apple to realize that MM doesnt work on iphone 3 (2.2) - which kind of defeats the whole purpose of getting it in the first place?Thanks, 15" Powerbook G4 1.5GHz / 21" iMac 2.16GHz / iphone 3G 2.2. New computer-iphone and iTunes question 3G

I bought a new laptop and would like to sync my iphone with iTunes on the laptop. I previously synced with my desktop. I understand that you cant sync the iphone on two computers. I believe that I read somewhere here that if I sync my phone with the new laptop, I will loose my apps on the phone. If that happens, can I download my apps without having to pay for them again? Nothing happens when iphone plugged in

Nothing happens when my 2G iphone is plugged in, either to the charger or the USB connection on my Mac Pro. Ive changed wires,; same problem. Ive tested other devices in the USB ports; they work. When I plug the iphone into the USB connection, nothing happens, nothing. It doesnt turn on, sync, turn off if on, no noise, nothing. The same symptoms when I plug the iphone into the charger that uses a separate wire plugged into the charger in a different location. Ive noticed this getting worse till now when absolutely nothing happens when plugged in. Previously, repeatedly plugging and unplugging resulted in both a charging and sync connection, depending on where plugged. Is this a phone hardware issue or am I doing something wrong? Credit Voucher for Original I-Phone iphone

The original purchasers of the I-Phone were given a credit voucher for $100 when Apple reduced their phone prices several months later. Owners were sent via email and text, a credit voucher number. Well 2 weeks ago I lost my phone and no one turned it in, so Im trying to find my credit voucher number so I can use this to purchase another phone. My dilema is that I deleted my email but saved the text message which contained the info I needed--silly me didnt think that if I lost my phone I would have no information. Apple Customer Service has not been able to help because they kept no records and the refund program is over. AT&T was no help either. Has this happened to anyone else and/or can anyone direct me to a possible solution? Id sure hate to lose these $100 now that I really could put it to good use. Original I-Phone

My iphone not being recognized under My Computer

When I first got my iphone, I had a Dell. So I synced my phone to that computer. I just got a new iMac, and have switched everything over. My iPod shows up under My Computer, but my iphone doesnt. And I first synced my iPod to the Dell. Ive been able to sync my phone and my iPod in iTunes and transfer pictures from my phone to my computer with relative ease. Ive restarted and reset my phone, but it still does not show up under My Computer. Do I need to contact Apple Support or is there something else I can do? The Help file for iTunes on Syncing media with iphone has the following entry: Click the tabs (Music, Photos, and so on) and select the items you want to sync.To sync only certain items, click Summary, select “sync only checked songs and video” checkbox, and then click the other tabs and select the items you want to sync. I am confused about this because the “sync only checked songs and video” checkbox seems redundant in the following sense. Even if this checkbox is NOT selected, iTunes allows me to select the items I want to sync under each tab.If the “sync only checked songs and video” checkbox is NOT selected, then under the Music tab, for example, I would rather expect NOT to be able to select particular items to sync.Can anyone explain this?
