iphone 3G and Car Stereo-Behavior

I have a Bluetooth adapter for my Alpine care stereo. I also have a dock type connector. When I connect the iphone 3G to the dock connector as the car turns on the head unit picks up the iphone and correctly searches it and starts playing music. after a little bit the bluetooth connects to the stereo and the iphone decides it wants to play the music via bluetooth streaming. This is rather annoying. I have to unplug and replug in the connector or go into the iPod application to select the dock connector as the correct audio source.Is there a way to set a priority in which connection to use? Everything else seems to work fine, but this issue is rather annoying. iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.3

I phone wont sync with itunes iphone 3G

When I connect to I tunes it wont sync. Says it it synced with another computer/account. Problem is that it give my apple id when connected. Visual Voicemails Dont Appear iphone

For the past few months my visual voicemails have not been appearing. I have to call myself to listen to my voicemails. Also when I try to listen to my custom greeting it times out and says unable to connect - try again later.Anybody have any ideas? Bezel and screen coming off at top right corner of iphone 3G

Hello, recently my iphone has been falling apart! There are about 30-50 dust pieces underneath my iphone screen. Not only that but I am more worried that the bezel and and screen are starting to some off the iphone itself! Eventually a crack from the dock port up to the symbols and logos appeared cracking the plastic without any accidental damage, just appeared one day. So far it has been just been 9 months since Ive gotten it. Is it possible for me to go to an Apple Retail Store and ask for a swap? When I first bought the device wireless Wave told me if any damage or defect came up theyd replace it with a 3G S from an apple retailer store. Hi,I have always been able to connect to my wireless network (and friends for that matter), however, today Wifi is showing Not Connected as if there are no wifi networks in sight. All the computers and iPhones in my house are connecting to internet using Wifi. I am stuck with 3G. All the iPhones in my house are on firmware 3.1.2. iphone dropped white screen 3G

yesterday I was using my iphone 3g 16gb and dropped it from a height of about 30 inches. There is no external damage but the iphone just has a plain white screen. I tried to make a call to it efter i dropped it and the phone recieved it but in a very fuzzy tone but i could not answer it due to the screen. I now cannot even make a call to it, connect it to itunes or even get it to respond in any way. I am covered under a limited warranty until July. What should i do? iphone 3G stuck at Apple screen of death

Hey Forum!The other day I dropped my iphone 3G from say just above a meter into the floor. The iphone went completely black and I couldnt start it anymore. When all my hope was lost I tried to plug it into the charger, and the little white apple on the black screen appeared. I thought that the problem was solved and everything, but there was one catch... the phone never went to the actual phone-up-and-running step. So, Ive tried a couple of things, restoring it and putting it in DFU mode, but with no further success. One thing on the other hand is that I manage to get the connect to iTunes sign on the phone, but Im not sure that helps. iphone 3G-Youtube Native App Problem

Hi all,Im using iphone with with firmware 3.1.3. For last 3-4 days iphone cannot connect to Youtube. Every time I try cannot connect to Youtube screen appears prior to the No Videos screen.So far I tried different networks as Edge/3G/Wi-fi but the result hasnt changed. Even tried a few different wi-fi network provided by different ISS. Rebooting the phone, signing out from Youtube and signing in with different account havent also provide any solution to the problem. It just says cannot connect to youtube.Please let me know if you have similar problem or you know the solution Mac OS X (10.6.1)

iphone frozen in recovery mode help 3G

okay, so i did something to itunes to where it updated or something and then my iphone got un-jailbroken or something..so i tried looking online how to jailbreak it again.i started to do the redsnow steps, but i got an error 1015 message..and then after that, i got into recovery mode.. ive found steps to get out of recovery mode consisting of holding down home/sleep button off and on tons of times..but to no avail..its still in recovery mode.how the heck do i get out of this mode!??!? is there some sort of program, or app i need to download to get me out? i dont want to restore my iphone and lose everything i had!!!!

I have just installed windows 7 x64bit on my pc. I have downloaded the itunes for windows 7 x64 and it seems to have installed correctly. I have reset my iphone (as my old one packed up with the home button, so Apple replaced it as it was still within the warrenty)and now when I connect the newly formated iphone to itunes, I get the following error,this phone cannot be used as the required software is not installed. Could Not connect to Cellular Data Network iphone 3G

This is an error I get every time I try to access the internet from my iphone 3G. The only time this error sign does not appear is when Im in a WiFi zone and connected to it but apart from that 3G connection and Edge does not work. That doesnt mean I cant connect to 3G, I can, its just that no internet pages or any app that needs updating like facebook wont work.This all started when I updated my iphone on my college computer and since then it hasnt worked. A piece of information that might help you help me is that I had no signal on my phone when I updated, whether that is relavent or not I dont know. iphone stuck on white Apple boot screen cannot recover even in DFU mode. 3G

Basically, the phone was on charge all day via USB on my laptop, locked the screen and then when I got back from work it was powered off and couldnt switch it on. So, I performed a reset and the phone now only boots to the white apple and no further. I can only get it to do this whilst plugged into the mains charger, not on battery OR via USB to my laptop. I have tried leaving on charge overnight, 3 different laptops and finally an XP PC, all dont seem to power the phone on, only when I plug into the wall.Ive tried a recovery, but the problem is I can only get the phone into recovery mode whilst plugged into the wall i.e. I get the connect to itunes graphic up but as soon as I unplug the USB and connect to the PC, the screen goes blank or at least dims anyway as I can still see the graphic, just greyed out. I then have to reset the phone again (connected to power).So, tried DFU mode, iTunes detects it (hooray I thought), downloads the 3.1.3 firmware, jumps to preparing iphone for recovery and then sits there as the phone then becomes disconnected from the PC i.e. USB disconnect sound is heard. I then get a 1601 error (I have the iphone updater log if you want it) and am back to square one. Like Ive said, Ive tried 3 different laptops and a PC, from Windows 7 to XP, 3 different cables and 2 different chargers and it does the same thing on all of them. I have thought of trying to find a USB dock with a seperate power supply but now sure if they exist of if this will help.Determined to fix this as I think the phone is great, if only Apple can sort out the battery life issues!Hope someone can help. have just recently been bombarded with snow up here in the northeast and have had to take my iphone to the apple store they told me moisture indicators inside the phone have been activated, that is why my phone is not working. phone will not power up and the screen is not lighting up. does any one have alternatives other than buying a new phone? tried a hair dryer in the open ports but no success after two hours, tried to connect to computer but same results. suspect snow blew into the cable connection port while on my belt while cleaning the car off, will look into a better protective holder next time. if a new phone is needed anyone have a good source at a good price?<Edited by Host> iphone OS 3.0

Constantly losing WiFi signal. iphone 3G

I have this strange, annoying problem on my iphone 3G (version 3.1.3). Whenever I connect to my WiFi network, Ill get the expected 3-bar signal. However, my iphone will often lose the signal, forcing my iPod to switch to either 3G, or EDGE. Strangely enough, my iPod will eventually establish a connection with my home network again, but then drop anyways. Location is not an issue. My router has a range of 60 feet, and I am nowhere close to even 30 feet away from my router. In fact, Ill be right beside my router to use my iphone, only for the signal to drop to 2 bars, or none.Im sure a lot of people have been experiencing this error. Is there any fix to this? att being overbearing with my phone functions iphone

Unfortunately my service was suspended recently for payment issues. It was off for a week, and during that time I noticed something peculiar, along with after restoring service today. I understand the phone and 3g functions not working, but i noticed my wi-fi was greyed out when I tried to use it at a hot spot during the suspension in service. I googled the issue and found a known problem with that and figured I would wait until I got it back on to deal with it, as I rarely use the wi-fi anyway.Once service was restored, the wi-fi was no longer greyed out (literally less than a minute after the at&t rep restored service) BUT my calander and mail syncs no longer would connect, as if the network settings had been disabled/reset!An hour later, still no luck. Soooo I am now going to have to manually reset all of this. Did AT&T disable these functions to prevent me from using my phone in any capacity over wi-fi while my 3g service was suspended? I am not an iphone user so I do not know much about them, but I have worked in wireless for 10 years so I am savvy when it comes to wireless technology. A friend purchased a iphone online and he wanted help syncing it to iTunes. I installed the latest version of iTunes and when I hooked the iphone up via USB it loaded Windows Mobile 6.1 onto the device replacing the iphone OS?!? This is baffling and I dont know how or why it happened, but I do know that I am unaware of how to fix it. Now that it has Windows Mobile on it iTunes wont recognize it. When I try and reset the device holding down the sleep and home it does show the apple icon, but then it still continues to load Windows Mobile 6.1. If any one has any suggestions of how to reload the original OS or how to get iTunes to recognize a iphone running Windows Mobile, help would be greatly appreciated! Wifi problems in last 2 weeks iphone 3G

I have both an iphone and a itouch and in the last 2 weeks or so I have noticed that when I am connected to my wifi at home I cannot connect to youtube or to my mail accts to sync them, I can surf the interent without any problems, if I go to 3g on my phone I have no problems with getting mail or going to youtube, I have verified that another user is having the same problems, at his house with different wireless router but we are using the same service provider. any ideas? Dropped calls can not find server wont connect to email iphone 3G

This is my 3rd iphone, and honestly i swore by it when i first got it. Now after all the trouble i dont even know if it worth the trouble anymore. I have spent hours on the phone with At&T and they can not fix it. I have spent hours on the phone with apple and they cant fix it. Considering they just sent me one in the mail, he was hesitant to send me a new one, plus i could not afford another 400.00 hold on my credit card. The gentleman who assisted me assured me that my phone is not working correctly because my itunes is outdated. I tried to install the new version but it stalls and gets stuck at 75% of the way. And if i have had this version and the phone has worked why all of a sudden does the phone not work. Plus as if all this was not enough the new phone still drops calls. Hey people. Just wondering if anyone can help me regarding a problem I have with my iphone 3g. When trying to use it earlier I noticed it wasnt responding whatsoever, not even resetting or rebooting what not, so I couldnt restore it. Inactive iphone not syncing 3G

Hey everyone...Im sure this question has probably been posted 100 times, but Im new, and this is the first i product Ive ever owned....anyways, a friend of mine knew I was about to purchase an iPod touch, but he had an iphone 3G that hes no longer using, so he gave it to me and said it would work just like the Touch. I am able to get the WiFi on it, and everything seems to be working, except that I cant get my iTunes to transfer to it. When I connect it to my computer it recognizes that there is an iphone present, and it gives me the option to sync. When I do, the phone says its syncing, but it only does so for a minute or so, and then there is no content in the iTunes...?? Can anyone help m with this? Thanks so much!! Windows XP

I upgraded my iphone last november to a 3Gs, and ever since then, whenever I connect my phone i get this device can perform faster message. I have a sony VAIO with Windows XP Home (SP3).I am unequivocal that my PC is working fine and that all my ports are USB 2.0 as all my other USB 2.0 devices work perfectly, as have my previous iphones.This is becoming a real pain now as the simple task of adding a couple of songs takes ages! unknown error 1603 when trying to restore my iphone 3g in itunes-help

hello everyone - any help on the following issue would be greatly appreciated!just updated to latest version of i tunes on my PC, synced all my new music etc, then phone just got stuck on the black screen with the small apple logo in the middle. phone (iphone 3G) wont turn on and just has the signal to connect to itunes. so i connect to itunes and it says iphone is in recovery mode - must restore phone to use, so i do that but it keeps getting stuck on the preparing to restore i phone screen for a few mins before coming up with unknown error 1603.anyone else had this problem?anyone know if i can log into i tunes on a different computer and try to restore it?if problem persists do i go to o2 shop where i bought it, or apple shop to sort it?? Unable to connect to store to get updates iphone 3G

Im unable to get updates and apps on my iphone cause I can no longer connect to the store. I had an AOL password and even though Ive changed it in iTunes - I log in on my phone it wants to default back to my AOL screenname and will not allow me to connect. iphone wont charge via USB

I have a brand new iphone (2 days old). I also have a PC running Windows XP with the latest version of iTunes installed. Yesterday, when I received my phone I was able to connect to my PC successfully and Sync and charge my phone via a standard USB port.As part of this process my phone was upgraded to the latest version of iphone O/sToday, for some inexplicable reason, I can sync but I cannot recharge my phone. Whenever I connect I get a message along the lines Charging is not supported with this accessory.FYI: (1) I am using a brand new Apple supplied USB cable. (2) I was using the same USB port as I did yesterday. (3) My phone wont recharge on any of the other 6 USB ports on my PC either.(4) All these USB ports are working correctly with other USB devices.(5) I have done a hard reboot of my iphone(6) I have done a backup/reset/restore using iTunes and still no joy.The only idea I have is that I was using a slightly older version of the iphone O/s when I first connected and now I am running a later version which, maybe, has some software glitch in relation to recharging ???Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated. iphone iphone OS 3.1.3

iphone wont connect to 3G network

A couple of days ago i notice that my phone was only using the GPRS connection and not the 3G connection. I thought it was maybe no 3G reception where i was but yesterday i was with a friend who has the same 3G iphone and on the same network (Optus - Australia) and his had a perfect 3G connection and mine was still on GPRS.I have tried restarting iphone, turning Airplane mode on then off, turning 3G enable off then back on, resetting iphone (holding down power and home buttons until phone shuts down), using iTunes to Restore iphone, removing sim card and re-inserting.Dont know what else to try??? iphone 3G 16G iphone OS 3.1.3

Syncing one iphone with two computers

I sync my iphone with my computer (contacts, calendar, apps, music, etc), but would like to sync Photos/pictures with the laptop of my wife (where we keep ALL our photos).When I connect the iphone to her laptop and run iTunes, and uncheck all sync boxes with the exception of Photos (to be synced with iPhoto), a message appears that ALL apps on my iphone will be deleted (since they were purchased on MY computer/iTunes account). Data Connection Issues with iphone 3G

I have my iphone 3G (16GB, black) for 2 years, but only recently I subscribed to a data plan with my mobile provider (Etisalat, UAE).The problem I face is that sometimes the data symbol in the status bar of my iphone 3G is not there, and during this period (of course) I have no data connection, so I cannot connect to the internet, get emails, etc. I may have full signal but no data connection ! (neither 3G, or Edge or GPRS). Wi-fi works perfect always.If I reboot the phone, the symbol appears again; for a limited period only though, and then is lost again, in which case I have to reboot again .....Turning the Airplane Mode on-off, or enabling-disabling 3G will not restore the data connection. Sometimes if I eject the SIM and insert it again the data connection is restored and the symbol is shown again. Only rebooting has 100% success so far in restoring the data connection with the provider (unfortunately for a limited period only).I have the latest software (3.1.3) and carrier settings from Apple.Is it a SIM, hardware or software issue?Any ideas? cannot update iphone 3g with new os

i tried to update my iphone 3g to the 3.1.3 os tonight and recieved an error message. on my second attempt, my i phone appears to have no os at all and prompts me to connect to itunes. after connecting to itunes i get a message saying that my phone is in recovery mode and i must restore settings to install the new os which will delete any media stored on my phone. it seemed to attempt to install but never fully does. basically at this point my phone is useless. I called AT&T, who had me download itunes on my work computer (cant get up the stairs to home computer after knee surgery, specifically asked if this would damage anything on my phone and was told no. after downloading latest itunes and connecting to this computer, all my apps, photos, contacts, everything is gone. Dead after trying to update iphone 3G

I tried to update last night and now phone just indicates that I need to connect to iTunes. Tried that and message said I needed to restore. Phone initially connects to computer but stops recognizing connection before restore is complete. Would love to arrange a call to find out what to do, BUT MY PHONE DOESNT WORK!!! Live chat with customer service would be great. In looking at the board there seem to be a number of problems with this update. Any additional suggestions for my problem? 3G iphone OS 3.1.3

Can my work spy on me iphone

I am starting work a at company who has a cell phone policy for connecting to thier network so I can get email access. The part that is troubling to me is the line may monitor without notice access to network to record dates, times etc. without notice to employee.If I can connect to a companys exchange server, will the company have access to other items on my phone such as web history, personal emails, etc.Also they reserve the right to wipeall data on the phone, will that delete my connectionto thier server or are they really ableto delete all info from my phone remotely.Thanks so much for the help, I greatly appreciate it.   iphone iphone OS 3.1.3 None

Phone Stuck on connect with ITunes-Nothing works so far iphone 3G

Everything was working fine until iTunes requested an update. Since then iTunes does not recognize the iphone. The iphone wont reset, restore just keeps the connect to iTunes despite re-downloading the software, Checking my USB, changing plugs, profile, turn on and off computer. The phone remains stuck and this pop-up Windows need to install driver software for your device which prompts me to a software I dont have/cant find...Thanks!!

No Slide to Unlock possible iphone 3G

Hey,my 8GB iphone 3G Slide to Unlock doesnt work since some minutes.It has worked the last months every time since I got it in the end of october.My iphone OS is 3.1.3, always used the original OS, no unlock or jailbreak.The rest of the Screen works - if I doubleclick the home button I can control the music. I also tried a reboot and two resets, but nothing happened...I dont know what to do and have no idea how this could happened - some minutes before, everything worked well.
