cannot connect to itunes iphone 3G
Guys,I have windows 7 x64. My wifes 3G just wont get recognized by itunes 9. I have opened a ticket with Apple where they made me uninstall and install itunes like 4 times already, had me do a bunch of stuff but nothing has worked. I finally installed itunes on a XP machine and it was able to sync fine but I have no idea what the issue is on the Windows 7 machine that wont let itunes recognize my phone. itunes works fine with my 4G but whenever i connect the 3G itunes just freezes up for a while and then nothing. I do hear the connection sound when i connect the phone which tells me Windows recognizes the 3G being connected but itunes does not.If anyone knows a fix for this, it would be very appreciated!thanks,Ken Windows Windows 7
3GS WIFI problem only at home iphone 3G
Hello everyone!Ive got the strangest problem with my iphone 3Gs when it comes to WIFI. I have a linksys WIFI router at home. Everything worked fine: wireless internet on my PC (sorry, but thats about to change), my macbook pro and iphone 3Gs.One day, I couldnt get WIFI anymore on my iphone. It started before OS4 (Im now on OS4 and the problem remains).Thing is that my internet works fine on both PC and macbook! When I select the wifi network on my iphone and enter the password it always says: no connection possible with network.I re-installed everything and did the usual stuff as resetting wifi settings on my phone, even resettign my router.Now, the strangest part of all is that the wifi on my iphone works anywhere else!!! I read several threads, but couldnt find an appropriate answer. I am doing the following to try to connect iphone 4 to my laptop:1. On iphone: turn BT on.2. On PC: Add new BT device. The laptop finds the iphone.3. To pair the devices, I am asked to confirm a security code on both laptop and iphone. Once confirmed on both devices, a message displays saying that theyre paired.4. On the iphone, however, the little status indicator just keeps spinning; on the laptop, I get a message saying that it could not connect to the remote device.Is the iphone only capable of connecting to a BT headset? iphone 3G no longer recognized by iTunes
I dont know what happened. I havent changed any settings on my pc. I updated my phone software to 4.0.2 last week with no apparent problems. I think Ive charged on my pc since but cant remember for sure. Now when I hook to usb, it goes on and off. Like not the power, but it (the iphone) will connect and show charging and I get the windows message that the apple camera is connected and what do i want to do. then it blinks off, like shows my welcome screen, not charging. then a few seconds later it shows up again and shows to be charging. it goes through this over and over. And iTunes does not recognize the iphone, says an error occurred.Any thoughts or suggestions? Dell XPS 410 Windows XP

Hi All,I recently moved my iTunes library from my PC to Network drive.During the move due to my stupidity I lost my playlists.I have 2 x iphone 3Gs and a 160GB iPod classic.The iPod classic can sync with iTunes no problem.When I try to sync either of my iPhones nothing happens.I am using the same cable as my iPod and it starts charging the phone.My PC recognises the phone as it asks me if I want to few photos.However iTunes does not recognise the phone.I am not sure what to do as nothing has changed with the exception of where the music is located.Does anytone have any suggestions?I have been trying to get this sorted for the last 5 days with no luck. HY!So since i have my new iphone 4 i have a problem with the itunes store app on the iphone.When i´m connected(doesn´t matter if 3G or wifi) i open the app store app and the phone connects me to the Top 25 page or search function or updates. These pages are working proper.BUT as soon i tap on the highlight page he tries to connect and after a few seconds a message window appears. The itunes store can not execute your request. Cant update iphone 3G Unable to connect with iTunes
Last night I set up my iphone 3G to upgrade to iOS4, when I wake up this morning it has the connect to iTunes screen. No problem I thought, can sort that out. iphone 4 water damage
I lost my iphone, and someone found it for me. Apparently, the guy found it on the street. When I got it back, I tried to turn it on, and the Apple logo would come on, say connect to iTunes, then turn back off. And it would do that over and over. I called AppleCare, and found out abt the sensor at the bottom inside the dock connection, and it was red meaning water damage.Im not sure if the bag of rice trick would work, since Ive already turned it on. But thought I would ask if anyone has experienced that yet. Does it matter that Ive been turning the phone on repeatedly? I am going to give my old iphone to my daughter, and unlocked it officially in the shop. Now when I connect it to my own mac and iTunes, the phone wants to get activated. But does this mean it can only be used with my own computer if I let it? after waiting 35 minutes to download the latest iphone version 4 on my laptop, the 378mg gets downloaded then 1 minute later I ger an error message 3259 with an error box that readsThere was a problem downloading the software for the iphone (my name) The network connection timed out.Make sure your network settings are correct and network connection active. Problems syncing iphone 4
Seems simple - to sync your phone, but I have had issues since purchase. after 3 hrs tech time and then time face to face in store, they gave me a new phone. It syncd right away, everything fine. Now having problem with the second phone.I did not sync the phone for a couple weeks, and went to sync it because my apps were not working (push the app on phone and nothing happens). When I tried to sync, I get errors again, some of which include:Internal device errorTiming outUnknown errorI have attempted to restore from back-up, and it errors out and wont let me do this. I have done the complete restore as well. Then when I attempt to sync, the errors are gone, but the sync does not occur. Itunes states it is syncing, and phone shows nothing. It never syncs.Also, anytime I connect the phone to computer itunes pops up with the set up your iphone page, which tells me it is never really recognizing the phone. Also note: I was told to take the time management off the USB hubs, as this might be creating a problem. This has not solved the problem.I am going back to the store today, but figured I would see what advice I could find here. HP dv6t 64 bit

iphone 3g shows apple logo after restore
I replaced my screen because it was cracked. Phone still functioned fully. I updated to 4.02 or latest update with success so that I could restore to that point later. My problem is that I have success in getting the connect to itunes recovery screen and the computer has offered to restore and then begins its process. According to the Phone updater log, the restore succeeded. However as Itunes restores (or during the process), the phone returns to the apple logo screen and itunes no longer sees it. The phone will then endlessly loop to try and reboot every 5 mins or so with the apple logo until the battery goes dead. Two attempts thus far.I have a valid contract with AT&T and the phone is not jailbroken. Although yes, I replaced the screen myself. (A cost of $20 shipped to my house over $200+ with apple) The phone is a little more than 2 years old.The frustration is it seems that everything should be working but cant get past apple log screen. I believe since i took the phone to an itunes store to inquire about glass replacement, the tech would had noted the cracked screen, leading anyone to believe the possibility of the phone screen being replaced otherwise, in otherwords, I dont expect Apple to help at all despite the fact of having 2 phones now, but they could surprise me. Download Speeds Vary Between iPhoneiPad and Computers
I have Comcast Cable internet that I access wirelessly through an AE base station. All my devices connect by wifi. When I run a speed test on the 2 computer, an imac and MB Pro, I use Speedtest.net flash website. On there I see the download speeds that I expect to see with my service level. On my iphone and ipad I use the speedtest.net app and always see lower speeds at least on the download side. Now everything works well, no wifi issues and the speeds are very good - I actually have no complaints at all. Im just curious why there is such a difference. I realize that each time one of these tests is run its just a snapshot of that moment in time and will vary and that a flash website may well give a different result than an onboard app. But Im still curious and wonder if anyone has an explanation I might understand. iPod Touch stuck in recovery mode iphone 3G
I was trying to update my cousins iPod Touch, so I clicked restore since I was on a different computer. First, for a while, it just said Preparing iPod for restore..., and then it said that there was an error. Now my cousins iPod only shows the connect to iTunes screen. If I plug it in again, it says that I have to restore it. If I do, it will only do the same thing. I think the problem was that I was updating to iOS 4 from os 2. So, what can I do? Suddenly cant sync iphone 3G
after getting home from a trip where I had been syncing with my MBP, I just tried synching with my iMac and cant. The backup seemed to work. iphone locked and cannot connect to iTunes after update
When I plugged in my iphone to my desktop, it told me that I could download a new version of iTunes. I did, and then I got an error message while downloading (I didnt record the error message like a dummy). Now, I am left with the icons to connect to iTunes on my phones screen. The only problem is that I cant connect to iTunes anymore. I cant use my phone, and I cant connect even though I just connected before trying to download the new version of iTunes.Ive tried restarting my computer and the phone. I have also plugged in and pulled out my iPhones connection as well as restarting iTunes to no avail. I dont want to download a new version of iTunes since I have playlists that I have worked a good deal on. Is there anything else I can do? 3G iphone OS 3.0

Ive been experiencing a lot of issues after updating my 3G to iOS4.0 and I fully agree with the other topics reporting about draining batteries, inappropriate responsiveness of the touchscreen due to lacking memory, etc.Steve, that update has ruined my great iphone 3G and the current situation is unsatisfactory! The way Im feeling now is quite comparable to the time I changed from my Windows Mobile 5.0 phone to the iphone 3G - but now the other way around - all the great touch responsiveness has gone and the device feels so lame!The most annoying issue however is, that the phone wont charge properly anymore. Let me describe:So after having freshly booted I plug in my 3G with the original charger (same situation when I connect via USB to my PC) and my Phone starts charging. The battery gets warm/hot, the percentage starts increasing and I see the icon displayed in the top bar.However after I open some applications, do my mail, write some SMS etc. I noticed that my phone isnt actually charing any more?! Well the charger-icon up right is still displayed, the battery is still getting warm/hot, but my battery percentage is already decreasing! This even goes so far that it runs out of battery and turns itself off while its connected to the power-supply!Rebooting the phone makes it charge again - however only until you start reopening apps.Well my solution until now: Plug in your phone in and turn it off - that at least makes the phone charge properly but is very annoying! iphone 3G iOS 4

MobileMe Contacts Sync-only some groups iphone 3G
Hi,I know I can sync only selected groups via iTunes. But what about through MobileMe wireless Sync ? Hi all, after I switch Sim cards over from my Hong Kong Sim to my Australian Sim ( not the other way around ) the phone will not connect the calls. It says Calling but nothing happens. Then I reset the unit and it then connects the calls ok....Anyone else have this issue? i-phone 4 iOS 4
iphone 4 Bluetooth Connection to Car
When I was using my 3G (with the iOS4 software) with my cars Bluetooth kit, it would automatically sync up whenever I turned the ignition on. Now, with the iphone 4, my car doesnt automatically sync. I always have to manually initiate the connection either through the phone or the car kit. Ive paired, re-paired, resetted, powered down/up, and pairing with the car on first or with the phone first and vice versa to see if it would connect automatically like the 3G but I havent had any luck. iphone 4 Wi-Fi stops working after period of time.
The setup:Airport Extreme Base Station w/latest firmware update (7.4.2) connected to the internet via AT&T DSL.iphone 4 32GBThe problem:When at home, the iphone is able to see and connect to the AEBS without any issues. When I leave for work, and later come home, the iphone is not able to see the network on the AEBS. Ive tried manually connecting to the network without success. Its as if my wireless network does not exist, as far as the iphone is concerned. As a matter of fact, the phone does not see ANY nearby wireless networks (there are several I can normally see from my house).Turning Wi-Fi on/off does not fix the problem, nor does turning airplane mode on/off. The only fix for the problem is to turn the phone completely off and then back on again. after doing so, the phone is able to see and connect to the wireless network.This behavior is not consistent from day to day... Some days the phone is able to re-connect and others it is not. I have not been able to identify any particular action that Ive taken during my day that is consistent with the Wi-Fi not working.Notes:I have a few other devices on my home network including 2 notebooks, an AppleTV, and a Linksys WRT54G router that is used in bridge mode to connect my Satellite TV DVR to the internet (running Tomato firmware). Facetime on WiFi only iphone 4
Hello, does anyone know if you can use Facetime with only the WiFi enabled on the iphone 4. iphone 3G doesnt connect to carrier anymore after upgrade to iOS 4.02
Hi guys, I just upgraded my iphone 3G from iOS 4 to iOS 4.02, but after the upgrade, I cant phone anymore because the telephone doesnt connect to my phone carrier anymore.Everything else seems to work fine, but I got a continuous searching... message at the top left of the screen. Furthermore, when I open settings, I cant see phone settings anymore.Is this a known issue? Has anyone advices on how to fix it? Do you think a restore could fix the problem?Thanks a lot. iphone 3G its not recognized by computer
Having a bit of trouble here, my iphone has been acting up, it would light up on its own without anyone touching it, then suddenly the screen just went really dark, but it could still used just in the right lighting, after a while of playing with the brightness (which was already set for high, and still it would be dark/dimmed) feature on the settings, I got it to work again, so I decided to restore it. It worked fine for a while, then it got dimmed again, so I decided to restore it again to its original factory settings, but this time I would not use any backups, when the system began restoring, the connect to itunes screen showed up, and a little window at the right bottom of the screen showed up with the following message: one the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it and so the iphone was kicked out itunes and everytime I connect it again, it shows up the same message! Ive searched the net and found some tips: uninstall and reinstall itunes. or turn off computer and unplug and then turn it on and try again. or try to restore it on another computer (it worked at first it began downloading the iOS 4 but then the same message popped up and it kicked off the iphone from itunes). Sadly NOTHING worked! and now my iphone is stuck in the connect to itunes screen and I am without a phone!If anyone could enlighten me, it would be much appreciated! Thanks! iPhone3G iOS 4

Anyone know if the original BT Keyboard All white w/ Numeric pad connects with the iphone 4? Ive tried to connect with no luck. The phone finds my keyboard, but when I go to pair, all I get is the spinning status.?.?. iphone 4s wifi and NETGEAR routers

Good morning fellow Apple Discussion Users,I would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem with getting help from Apple on the iphone 4 antenna issue, and if so what was it that you were able to do to get the problem fixed.Please read my situation below and let me know if there is anything you think that might help.Thank you.On Friday the 13th of August 2010 I drove an hour to the nearest Apple retail store that had the iphone 4 32 GB in stock and purchased my first iphone. Although it isnt too significant to my experience please keep in mind that in the past four to five years I have been a loyal customer to Apple by purchasing three MacBook Pros, two iPod Touches, one iPod Video, and subscribing to MobileMe.When I arrived at the Apple retail store I spoke with an Apple iphone specialist and asked him if the iphone 4 antenna problem been resolved yet. He replied that it has and that Apple has started a free iphone 4 case program as the solution. I asked him to show me what cases I would have to choose from and he replied saying that they do not carry any cases at all in the store because corporate needed all the case inventory to distribute to those that need it. The iphone specialist then explained to me that I would need to download the free case App. from the App. store and follow the directions.So, after spending thirty dollars more than what I had already projected to purchase the iphone for, I went home and synced my new iphone with my iTunes account and updated my iphone to ISO 4.0.2. I then proceeded to load the free iphone case program. I then chose the case I wanted and completed my order. I then received my order confirmation by email, which said that the case wouldnt be shipped until September 14, 2010. This didnt bother me because the case was free and I had already put screen protectors on my iphone and didnt really see the need for a case right now anyways.However, after using the iphone Saturday and today and experiencing bad reception and dropped calls I became quite irritated, as I never experienced this with my previous wireless carriers that I have used in my same current coverage area. I even checked AT&Ts coverage map and it listed my area of having full support and coverage of both data and voice. It was then made clear to me that the issues I was having was related to Apples iphone 4 antenna problem, so I decided to call them about this and to see what they can do about getting this resolved because there is no way that I should have to wait close to a month for a case to resolve the issue while spending money on my service plan for crappy service due to an Apple defect.I spent over an hour speaking with two different Apple customer service agents and I had three dropped calls during this period. I asked them if there was anyway to just give me a credit of the retail value for the case I picked and then cancel my free case order, so that I may go purchase a case at AT&T now and fix the problem I am having with my iphone. after the second time of having my phone call dropped I had to call them back myself and ended up talking to someone different than before. This gentleman had informed me that they had cancelled my free case order, but can not give me any type of credit or rebate for a case, so that I can go purchase one. He then had his supervisor get on the line with us.As you can imagine, this really ticked me off! So, not only did they cancel my order for the free case without my consent, but now they are telling me that there is nothing they can do to help me except to restart my original order and to wait until it is delivered to me to fix the iphone antenna problem. I explained to them how unprofessional and inappropriate it is to have to make a customer of theirs let a lone a very loyal one have to wait for almost a month for a case in order to fix a defect that is their fault, but yet there are stores that have iphone 4 cases in stock that could fix the problem right away. They of course didnt care and continued to tell me that there isnt anything they can do to help. I then proceeded to ask them if a $25.00 case/credit/rebate is worth losing a loyal customer and $360.00, as I will be returning the iphone 4 if they are unwilling to fix the problem thus making me have to go out and spend my own money to fix the issue myself in order to have a functioning iphone. Their response was more of the same that they offer a free case and that I would just have to wait and what I decide to do is my decision to make.So, it seems to me that Apple really doesnt care if they lose a customer or a loyal one for that matter. I then proceeded to call and speak with an Apple Care agent and of course there wasnt anything that the gentleman I talked to could do, but at least he was understanding of reason and also agreed that the whole iphone case program is flawed and adds to the problem more so than it does to fix it. after speaking with the Apple Care agent we agreed that once Apple realized the solution to the antenna defect that anyone who was to buy an iphone 4 should have been given a bumper or case at the same time as they purchased their iphone. Ok, so you may not have a choice in what model you get or color, but if its free and it fixes the defect immediately then who cares, I know I dont.I would much rather sport a hot pink band of rubber around my iphone if that meant I would not have dropped calls or bad call reception when I am in a fully covered area. Then when I had the ability to do so I would buy a replacement of my choice. Its not like Apple is offering any free cases that I would personally buy for my iphone if I had the choice to do so anyways. Well, I decided it would be in my best interest to first go out and spend my own money for a case to see if that in fact solves the problem before spending the gas and time to drive back to the Apple store to return the iphone, which I would then have to wait for the credit to post on my credit card account. Not to mention cancel my new account with AT&T and be without both a phone and service until I received my credit to buy a new phone.I would like to know what everyone else feels about what I had to say about my experience with Apple today. Worst Customer Service Ever iphone 4
Upgraded from Blackberry last week. Received my new iphone 4 last Thursday. after 3 days of everyone I spoke to telling me they cant hear me, called Apple Support. Tech determined I needed a replacement. Paid $29.99 for an advance replacement. When I received it, it would not activate. Spent 2 hours on the phone with an Apple tech and finally he tells me its the sim card and to go call ATT. (original iphone 4 still worked fine except for the mic when I put the sim card back in it) Next day I go to the ATT store, they give me a new sim card and try to connect the phone on their computer. Same problem I was having on my computer. They say go to the Apple store. I drive an hour away to an Apple store. Genious checks it out and says you need a replacement phone, but we cant give it to you since Icare sent you this replacement. He says call icare back, give them this repair order number and theyll send you another replacement. Drive an hour home, call Icare, they keep me on the phone for another two hours and tell me they cant send me a replacement and theyll call me back the next day. 24 hours later, no call back and I have 2 iphones that dont work. iphone3g crashed during factory reset
Can anyone help please? During a factory reset of my iphone3g the battery ran out of power and the reset did not complete. I am now unable to use or reset my phone. I can turn on my iphone but the apple logo appears for approx 5 seconds and then the phone turns off. itunes and my pc cannot see the phone if I connect via the usb cable. PCiTunes dont recognize iphone
Up until yesterday I was not having any trouble synching my iphone with my laptop. Today I cant even get the laptop to recognize the iphone.When I plug it in my phone makes the connecting sound, and it also starts charging. But the iphone doesnt show up either in iTunes or in My Computer. I dont know if this had anything to do with it, but I had some trouble with a sync just before this happened and ended up disconnecting the iphone in the middle of the sync.I can connect it to my PC and sync it there, so I know it isnt the cable. Its only my laptop that has issues.Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Ive tried reinstalling iTunes, Ive tried resetting the iphone, Ive tried rebooting ... iphone 3G stuck on Apple Logo after restore with 4.0.2
I made the mistake of taking my iphone 3G fly fishing and it died after getting splashed. It was running 4.0.2. I followed the usual recommendations including opening the phone and gently warming it with a air gun on low. There was no apparent moisture inside the phone. While it was open I decided to replace the battery for good measure. Now it is stuck in the Apple logo even after what appeared to be a successful restore with iTunes on a Mac. Got same result after attempting restore on a PC. There were no error messages during the process - just the progress bar across the iphone and a reboot wherein it remains in the logo loop. I assume something died as a result from the dunking but its strange that it will connect to iTunes and go through the restore cycle. I toyed around with trying to downgrade to 3.1.1 but not sure that will yield any better results. Any suggestions on other things to try or is it toast?Thanks MacBook Air Mac OS X (10.6.3)

iphone 3G with iOS 4.2
So I installed iOS 4.2 to my iphone 3G and the battery has been draining unusually fast(even with 4.1), so I usually keep it in Airplane mode, Ive been trying to find a fix and so far Ive found nothing...my problem is unique though, because I dont use it as a phone I only use it as an Ipod (so no service), I have no use for it as a phone because I already have one. I have no idea what else to do. I think it might be internet tethering, the wheel just keeps spinning and I assume thats it. Theres nothing for it to connect to since it isnt being used as a phone, its always on my Wi-fi network at home. Any help would be appreciated. iOS 4 Windows

3G crashing every week. I lose external mic iphone 3G
Thanks for taking time to read thisMy first 3G iphone was great, it worked wonderfully till 18 months, then the home button wore out. I have received 2 replacements since that time and both of them of them lose the external mic for the telephone. It worked up till the phone tried to upload new mail or syn via wireless then it wouldnt work. I end up having to use a plug in mic in the headset port to use the phone. Anyone have any ideas? U connect and I Phone 4 iphone 4
Just received my I Phone 4. It will not recognize my phone book numbers. I ask it to list the names in my phone book and it will list them all. If I ask it to call someone in my phone book it will sayNo number stored My wifes I Phone 3 works great, I guess ther are software problems with the I phone 4. I have a 2010 Dodge Ram with factory u connect. I just found out that Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep do not list the I Phone 4 as a compatible phone for u connect. Beware and get the I Phone 3 as it works good. Hopefully someone at Apple will fix this. I Phone 4 iOS 4
Tethering Trouble iphone 3G
Earlier today, I enabled tethering on my iphone 3G, and had it set up to take effect today. However, when I go to Settings > General > Network it still tells me that I have to enable it rather than letting me connect. Ive tried entering/disabling Airplane Mode, and turning the phone off/on (and even tried turning the phone off while it was in Airplane) to no avail. Im stumped, help?
