I'm trying to unlock and sell an iphone 3G and an iphone 4. I went through AT&T and submitted unlock requests for both, and received emails saying that they'd been unlocked. I then erased all content and settings from the phones. When I turn them on, they both start up as if they are new--going through language set up and all that. These all seem like signs that the phones are ready to be sold as "unlocked". But I would love to know if there's another way to confirm this. I'd hate to sell either of these phones to someone and then discover that I've made an error. Does anyone have a tip for me? Should I bring the phones into the Apple store and have them confirm this for me?
Good Afternoon, ive recently started up my own business fixing mobile phones - mostly cracked screens and chassis replacements. Just recently i thought id got a bargain on ebay regarding an iphone 4. It was described as working correctly, can make / receive calls and send texts etc but randomly locks up. Ive got the phone today, unfortunately its locked to the 3 network so ive got a micro sim on the way so I cant actually proceed further at this point. Although it did crash once on me when i tried to select language's etc - had to hold the home and power button down until it turned off. Ive read on the forums that this is a common fault, and can occur to any iphone - faulty or otherwise. And the main concensus seems to be to take it back to the store for a swap. My main question is - seeing how im likely to come across this fault again - is the fault software or hardware related? If its hardware related what circuit board is likely to be the culprit? If we could identify the problem then im sure I could just order the required part on ebay. The fact that apple havent recalled the iphone and that they will accept these faulty iphone's back and swap for new suggests to me its an easy fix - its just easier for the technicians to go in the store room and get a brand new one. Secondly ive just got another iphone 4 white - bought cheap as its totally dead. Tried a new battery and still nothing. Got a new dock / charging connector on the way - is it likely to be this at fault? Doesnt seem to be any sign of water damage, and it wasnt described as this on the ebay page. When id swapped the new battery over i tried to charge the phone ( to see if id fixed it ) and it got extremely hot - so i disconnected right away and left it to cool off. Whats likely to be the issue with that one? Thanks, and hope someone can help Adam
Greetings, My i4 developed yet another problem in the series (previous issues concerned home button, power button and camera module)... Two nights ago, I had the phone plugged in the PC, in order to make backup, syncronize with iTunes, change music etc etc... It took around an hour, maybe hour and a half, and I was surprised to see that the battery (which was not even close to flat) reached only about 70%. Shortly after I unplugged the phone, the battery dropped to 50%. That night I forgot to plug it in again, and I spent the whole day yesterday saving the battery. Later that day, I got home and plugged it in immediately. 2 hours later, the battery was still on 14%. I left it "charging" for the whole night, just to find out that this morning, it was still on 14%. While checking emails and stuff, the indicator "jumped" to 16%, but then dropped to 10%. Now it shows 3% eventhough it's still connected to the computer. There is a battery indicator on the lock screen, which means that it doesn't refuse the charger, but somehow the battery refuses to be charged. The indicator in the upper right corner shows "plug in" symbol, as if it has been charged, not a "thunder" as if it's still charging. I tried cleaning both the dock connector and the cable, I tried different cables, I tried charging from the wall socket and from various PCs, but nothing seems to work. Everything else seems fine though. Battery dead and needs replacing, or is it something more "fruttier"? Thank you!
I annot send, read, or delete mail on my iphone4S. How do I unlock this function?
I purchased my iphone 4 while living in Hong Kong. I am now back in the UK and the phone has deveoped a problem where the mic cuts out during calls and the person I'm on the phone to can't hear me. I took the phone to the apple shop here and the girl told me that she would have given me a replacement but she can't because the phone is slightly different than the UK (european) model of the iphone 4. She then told me to call apple care and explain to them over the phone. I called apple care and an american woman said she can't give me support unless I pay £25 but will email me instructions on reseting the phone, I told her reseting won't make a difference as the mic problem is a common one with iphone 4's and I've read it's a hardware problem. So anyways I reset my phone and nothing changed. I'm stuck in limbo right now and dunno what to do, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I'll get a galaxy when my contract is up this year.
On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iphone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iphone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour. About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iphone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode. Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button. I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iphone 4S when the next generation iphone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady

I'm about to buy an iPhone5 from an official retailer. I just read somewhere about different types of LTE... I just wonder if an iPhone5 bought in Singapore will work in Spain, Thanks!!
My iphone 4s no longer allows me to connect to any wifi connections. The option is greyed out and wont let me do anything to it. I have tried restarting and resetting the network connections and all settings but this has not worked. The wifi came back briefly randomly at one or two points but could not find any wifi networks. I have read on the internet it is probably a hardware problem so I will be taking it back to apple next week. Just wondered if anyone had any further ideas about the problems?
I dropped my phone with an otterbox defender case on the phone on its back, directly following the fall (maybe 3ft) the screen remains black, however, the phone is still on because I get text messages and emails. I believe that the digitizer may have been dislodged from the logic board. Should I investigate the phone myself or take it in, mind you the nearest apple store (grrr) is almost 60 miles away.
4S got run over by a car. I changed the broken display, functionality (sound, vibration, cameras, wireless, mobile data, emails and other notifications come in, I can here SIRI, etc.) is working (tested via cylay). Battery always low and phone turns off pretty fast after unplugging from the charger. Plugged in it turns off itself after about five minutes and restarts immediately again + display doesn't work (sometimes gets bright but there appears no clear picture only some grey tones). It worked about three times though that the display was clear and I could use the phone for about five minutes before it lost its picture again. What could be broken?
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me as my wife's iphone completely froze up after synching with the latest version of iTunes. In the end, the only thing she could do was re-set the iphone, thereby of course losing everything. Reconnecting to her laptop restored music and most apps, it seems she has to re-download the other apps again direct to the phone. Now the problem is images. There is an ipod cache directory on the laptop Pictures directory, and in this are folders labelled F00, F01 etc.. and a "Photo Database" file. In each of the Fnn directories is a series of files, called Txxx.ithmb, each of which is about 1,500KB. Doing a backup from the laptop indicates there are about 2900 files overall.Altogether there is about 3GB in this folder, so it looks to be a lot of space. Pointing iTunes to the directory containing all this and synching, still results in zero images being found. She went to the local Apple store for help, to be told these are not the images, but then elsewhere I have read that these are the full files, and this proprietary format contains three different resolution images. If the images taken on the iphone are not here, where are they? Finally, how on earth do we convince iTunes to recognize these files and imporrt them again? Sorry to be thick but losing everything thanks to the latest iTunes was rather catastrophic! Any help/ideas/suggestions greatfully received... The photo files were a mix of photos taken on the iphone and images previously uploaded from the laptop. Cheers Chipontheroad
Please help- its my understanding that iphone stores where you have been (location history). When I was searching the Internet to see if I could access this info, I found Pete wardens iphone tracker download (I think it came out in April 2011), but then I read that apple fixed this problem of storing this info on your computer too, by releasing a software update shortly after. Is that correct? If I backup my iphone to computer will it have a file on there that stores the history of where I and my iphone have been? Or is this no longer the case? I desperately need a log with time stamps, I need to prove where I have been in the last week (marriage problems). If iphone only keeps this info on the phone now, can I access it somehow? Thanks for your help-Alisha
So i have my brand new iphone 5, since out of the box (2 days ago) the camera is not working, the camera app launches when i hit the camera icon but the shutter wont open, now if hit home button and then open camera again the shutter opens but the screen is black and i can't use any button on the camera app (auto flash, switch to front camera, etc.). Last night i read somewhere in this forums to turn off "Cellular Data" on the facetime setting, and it started working, until today when i got the same problem. i already restored it as new and it did nothing. Please Help.
Hi all, I have a few Audiobooks which I listen to on my iphone 3GS a lot and I put a couple more and last night I downloaded them and now they have an echo which it didnt before. From what i have read I need to change the playback speed but from all the feedback I have seen online there is no icon on my phone at the bottom right corner I can touch to change it. I have just about tried everything with no luck. PLEASE is there anyone that can help me. I have already lost these books once and have spent a lot of money getting them back. I will very angry if I cant listen to this now. Many thanks and I would appreciate any assitance.
Before I purchased my iphone 5 on 12/31 I read a lot of reviews saying how updating the version of iOS from the original one that comes with the iphone 5 has a bad effect on battery life. Because of the countless reviews featuring this complaint, I have never updatd my software from iOS 6.0.1 since I got my phone over 4 months ago in fear of experiencing future battery life problems. 6.1.4 came out a week or so ago and I'm wondering if the battery life issue has been addressed by now. If I choose to update, will my iphone eat up battery life faster? I am very meticulous with closing apps and being able to go over 24 hours without having to charge my iphone. Please advise. Thanks!
Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help : My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... ' I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue. My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ? Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i? My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Please can someone help... model a1332
At some stage yesterday my mail stopped working. It is the standard mail app that comes with the phone. When I press it it mostly blinks and then returns to the home page. Sometimes i can get a glimse of the emails in my account and then it returns to home page. It has been impossible to get to my account and use it
I am tired of my iphone 4S already after suffering through issues upon issues with the device. My screen is having issues now where at a moment's chance it goes dim. I have to reset the device to get the brightness back to normal. I've tried restoring without any luck of this resolving. Another gripe I have is that I'm continuing to have issues with apps like Mail, Safari, and other Apple installed apps just continuously force closing. I've been sending emails back and forth on my iphone only to have Mail force close and I lose everything in my message. The phone acts sluggish and performs worse than previous 4S devices I've owned. I've had issues upon issues across multiple iphone 4S devices. The device I have currently is my 5th iphone 4S and even tho its less than a few months old after it was sent to me after multiple filler iPhones of refurb models from the store, I continue to experience issues that make me use my iphone less and less as it becomes more unreliable with the crashes and multiple restores. My closest store is not within close distance so that's made owning an iphone with issues difficult as not every thread on the communities forum touch on half the problems I continue to have. Thankfully at least Siri knows where I'm located compared to my other devices where she always thought I was in Pittsburgh where I picked the phone up at my nearest store over an hour and a half away. Now everything just seems to be more of a deficiency with iOS and the hardware than anything. Obviously there must be something wrong with the latest stocks of 4S devices if my issues are continuing. When I restore I'm always setting up as a new device. I'm never downloading or redownloading anything from my Mac or PC. Everything is just redownloading apps from iCloud within the App Store and having a ton of missing photos in my photo stream. I just don't understand what is wrong with my iphone. I never experienced these kind of issues with my iphone 3GS so its hard to swallow how terrible the 4S has performed with every single device I keep getting. I'm at a loss on what I can do. Does anyone have any tips I should try that Apple hasn't provided me with to fix or at least band-aid the issue long enough till I can upgrade with my carrier?
Spyware is very easily accessible and requires nothing from the Apple store, and although I realize some of these posts are several years old-at this point, it is simply misinformation. All one needs is a similar program to the one in the link above and not only can your sms messages be accessed, your calls be intercepted and recorded, but the camera in your phone can be remotely accessed and activated at any given time without your knowledge. As you tap away on your handy little iphone you love so much, in whatever possibly "compromising" or embarrassing position you may be in at the time, a creeper can be looking you straight in your face or observing your enviornement at their leisure. Imagine the horror in finding out that you were sitting there on the toilet gaming and someone was watching you the whole time or better yet, while you were involved in an intimate interaction while your phone sat charging on a dock on the nightstand next to the bed? How about knowing that every incoming and outgoing communication is recorded and documented for the creep to scroll and read through like a book? This is some scary stuff, and it's been used on me via an encrypted picture message. I've done a full restore of my iphone and the pc used for backing up via iTunes to ensure that the spyware wasn't then rooted into the pc or the iTunes, and was even told to create an etirely new Apple ID, but aside from this and there being no true scanning software for malware, spyware or viruses for the iphone-how can I be sure that this encrypted software has truly been eradicated? Is there an antiviral program that I am unware of? I'm not looking for a secure AVG browser, I'm looking for a detect and destroy scanner program. <Link Edited by Host>

My third attempt to fix my iphone 4s. I've gone through two phones calls, three associates, and one Tech. support supervisor. The only thing said to me was "I cant do anything". I've explained my problem, as thorough as possible but the only option was to purchase a replacment for $200. I've restored my phone multiple times with zero effect, each with a clean restoration of iOS 6.1.3. If there is a solution to this problem I will greatly appreciate it. So my friend sent me 3 images they had taken on their phone, 2 came as jpgs but one came as a .png image. I was skeptical as they were different formats. Is this even possible and if not how could an image be a .png ? read somewhere this could be a screenshot/grab but when i tried that myself to emailed to self through gmail app it still appreared as a jpg the email also came from someone using gmail Thanks in advance
Went to apple store last week with a cracked screen on my 4S. It was out-of-warranty so they provided me with a refurb unit. Did a restore on the refurbed unit from icloud (running ios 6.1.3) and ever since then I've been having problems. The phone feels like it is overheating, the 3G only works intermittently, apps keep crashing and freezing, and the phone turns itself off at random intervals. I read online about the potential issues with exchange calendars, so I've turned off any calendars on my phone. Other than that, does anyone know how I can fix this issue? Is it hardware related, or is there something else I can do to improve performance? Thanks in advanceDan
I got an iphone 5 on Friday and the battery *****. I've read every single forum, done everything, reset all settings, drained battery to 0 and then back up, even restarted to factory settings, turned off push, limited notifications, every thing every forum has told me to do. I even went to apple and they were no help at all, telling me my battery was normal. I don't think sleeping with 100% and waking up with 75% is normal, or getting 2 hours if limited use from my phone throughout the day. I have no idea what to do and I'm getting so tired of this. I did not pay 1000$ and wait 5 months for this. I really expected so much more. Someone help me, and give me a right answer, to help me fix this. Seriously getting so ******. Not even lasting longer than my iPod touch. <Edited By Host>
I have had an iphone 4 for a little over two years now and feel like recently, my battery is dying so fast. When I go out for the day it always dies before I get home, what I think it is, could be that I take a lot of pictures and use many picture apps, but I don' think that it has always been this bad. NO matter what I do, when I go out to shoot at the park, it dies within a few hours. I hardly use it for other things besides that and it still dies. Yesterday when I left the house at 12, and came home at 5, it was dead. I did all of the things I read about that I need to do, like closing the apps, etc. I don't get it, is it me, or the battery being old or what? Should I buy a portable charger or do I need a new phone? I have a question about charging the battery as well. A coworker of mine told me that you need to let your battery die out every time, and then charge it, but I never do that. Is that neccessary to save the battery? Thank you. (*not sure what the difference is between CDMA and GSM? sorry)
Hello community. I do get the fact that there is million of threads, but I want to know the opinion of others on this particular case. I dropped my phone into the toilet (luckily, it was clear) and immediately got it out. As I had no experience with these kind of accidents, I actually didn't turn off the phone. I used a towel and then I wobbled my phone to get rid of the water. Then, as the phone started rebooting itself, I dried it with a hairdryer (yes, I'm an idiot) and used a vacuum cleaner to help the proccess. It kept saying this error [NAND] FileFlashAndMedia or something like that, so I turned it off for good and tried to restore it - I started getting the -1 error. After several repetitions, iTunes finally started restoring my iphone 5 and everything was back to normal. But then I came to the dreadful realization that the screen does not respond. Everything is ok - all the buttons, the display, even the sound seeems to be fine. So after these 15 minutes of panicking I started to read articles and watch videos of other people. Put the phone in a bowl of rice, sealed it and I turn it on from times to times to find out if the screen started responding. Any suggestions? Do you think there is a possibility to recover it?
I downloaded Quran Majeed Lite, after few months the app didn't work properly. I did write emails to app developers (Pakdata) and explained the nature of complain. Regret to inform that the developers never responded to my messages. How can I complain for the developer & get my refund.
The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972 Also read the instructions from the section entitled "Update your device using iTunes" at the link below. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
On my iphone, my mail app doesn't work. I get the "ring" that I have a new email and it shows how many, but when I click my app to look at the emails its blank and then just shuts down and takes me back to my home screen. I've turned it off and left it off for a minute then turned it back on and its still doing it. My iPad and iPod are fine, its just my phone doing it. Can anyone help me?
I have already an iphone 5. I use it with more than 900+ contacts, 5 email accounts from different providers actively, many apps, and with all a real life companion sure however, I need a second to use with a different telephone operator. I would like to have all my apps, contacts, emails, and everything there, too, like a mirrored one. One is in my left pocket one is in my right pocket.. Is that possible? If possible, how can I do it? Should I use it as another iphone with another Apple ID or how it goes?? Any negative / positive points? Thank you, RomerQ

My WI-FI is not working for 15 days, since I upgraded the software to 6.1.3. The buttom is grayed out. There was a huge forum over more than 210 pages about the subject but seems like Apple prefer to erase the forum because I can not access it anymore. I tried everything.1. Turn on and off2. Flight mode3. Reset Network connections4. Reset the iphone - ITUNES. Everything, more than once, thousand times... and nothing. I read that the only solution is to replace or the iphone or the hardware. My warranty expired a month ago. The repair seems to cost over 200 €!!! Is there anyone that could fix the problem without "Apple support"?The downgrade to ios 5 works? Hello, Apple..!!! Is there any extended warranty in this case?? It was not my problem, this should be a recall. The product is yours and the software too.I am very disappointed!!
to cut a long story short. I was interested in an i-phone... got the details..checked them all.. on the phone and with the provider, VODAPHONE... told unlocked, not stolen etc etc. proceeded to buy the phone...new sim topped up £10 only to find it wouldn't work... Went into vodaphone store..been running around following thier advice..(they said I need a friend who is a customer on vodaphone to get passed the unlocking with a vodaphone code.. and they would do it for free given the circumstances...so i run errands go back and forth doing as they asked...got nowhere) SO IT IS NOW A MONTH LATER..and after complaining and complaining to thier email site and repeatedly asking for help in store..I am stumped as what to do and just have a glorified ipod. I WILL NOT BE FORCED TO REMAIN ON THE VODAPHONE NETWORK given the situation they have put me in and thier unwillingness to help so i refuse to use the phone with vodaphone... BUT WHAT can i do PLEASEEEEEEE? all they keep on suggesting is that I get the original owners details but he is not answering anything...and the phone is not registered as stolen etc so what is the problem!? As you can imagine I am really peeved by the whole thing as I actually carried out all the necessary checks, and whilst the phone was not bought directly from vodaphone, I went to them as the provider, to find otu about unlocking etc as it is always advised to do so..and it was them that gave me the wrong information but they still will not resolve the issue. I have even sent them phone records to confirm when I rung and the name of the invalid who told me the phone was unlocked in the first place. I really would much appreciate any help as they are ignoring my emails now.
Hi all- newbie here. I'm trying to open and sync an (my husband's) existing iphone 4 onto (my) existing computer. However, both the iphone and the computer were set up originally under our different iTunes accounts. I've read where if I open up his account on my computer, I shouldn't have any problems, right? It looks like I can only see stuff that is on the Cloud, not his aps that he purchased for his phone on his account, nor his music that he purchased. Does this seem right? Is there something else I can try to be able to sync his phone without losing aps (albeit under his account and my computer)? Thanks
When I send people iMessages from my iphone, they receive them, but from my email rather than my phone number. Why is that? Is there a way I can change this? HELP
Hi all, So just got two slightly paranoid questions, but as my iphone 5 is brand new I just want to be sure. Battery lifeSo I had a 3GS prior to purchasing the 5 and I just feel that the battery life is less than ideal. My battery lasts 1.5 days (with my turning off the phone when I sleep). Is this about right? Low to medium usage, i.e. chatting, surfing a bit, checking emails and social media with WiFi on and GPS off and most notification off and medium brightness and 3G turned on. Is 1.5 days right or should it last longer? I am pretty sure my 3GS lasted longer when I first bought it. Unresponsive buttonsI purchased the phone about a week ago. An iphone 5 16gb. I haven't dropped it and this far the only way I have charged is to let it drain fully and charge it back up to 100%. It has worked fine this far but today something slightly odd happened. The phone had gone to sleep and I needed to check something but the home button was completely unresponsive. I pressed it a number of times but absolutely nothing happened. I also tried the top button, again nothing happened. Then I tried holding the top button because I thought that I might have turned it off accidentally. Again, nothing. The little "you need to charge your phone" screen didn't even come up. I might add that the phone had 23% juice at this time. Then I tried to connect it to the charger and the moment I plugged in the phone it came back to life. It has worked fine since. My question is, can anyone explain this? Is the phone broken somehow? What could have caused it? As I said, I haven't dropped the phone at all, and I've only had it for about a week so this seems very odd indeed.
I opened Instagram on my iphone 4G this morning and nothing loaded, it's stuck on a blank white screen. I can see the black bar at the top that tells me I'm connected to the internet and the battery, but the rest of the screen is plain white. I have the assistive touch on because the lock button is jammed, and I can still go into its little menu, but when I press the home button (either on the menu or on my actual phone) nothing happens. I've been trying to turn it off but, again, the lock/power button is jammed, and it hasn't been working. I read that you can hold down "lock screen" in the assistive touch menu, but when I do that nothing happens either. I plugged it into the wall and into iTunes on my computer, still nothing. When I leave it idle, it's doesn't turn off. The screen gets dark, but it's still on, I guess it's just the back-light that turns off? My only idea is to wait for the battery to die and then charge it and hope it goes back to normal.
Recently my iphone 5 (which is less than six months old) has started having problems. When I plug it in to charge (via the iphone 5 cord into a wall charger) the plug symbol appears on the battery rather than the lightning bolt charge symbol, and the percentage remains at a fixed percentage no matter how long I charge it for. When I unplug the phone the percentage may read, for example, 37%, within half an hour that may change to 83% and minutes later it will read 2%. Also, the screen has once turned blue with black stripes, a fully blue screen for about half an hour, and once when composing a message, white and black stripes. My phone will also repeatedly turn on and off. Is this a problem that can be isolated to the battery? Is it a more extensive hardware problem? My phone has not been dropped or wet or had anything physically untoward happen to it.
Hi all, Recently I've been having this problem with my iphone 5. I picked up my phone and it was suddenly off. When I tried to turn it back on, the Apple logo would show up for a few seconds and then the screen would turn black again. It wasn't low on battery, but I tried to plug it in anyways, thinking maybe it died. When I plugged it in, the Apple logo came on as if it were booting up, but then the logo faded within approximately five seconds. After it faded, a new apple logo reappeared, and it faded again. This kept repeating itself over and over when plugged in. It continues when unplugged, and only stops when I hold the home and lock button at the same time for around ten seconds. I searched for hours to find a solution, and the only one given was to restore it, and I tried that because I had recently made a backup for the phone. The only problem with this was that the iphone would show the same repeating fading boot up that it did before when plugged in, and for some reason my iTunes nor my computer read that the phone was plugged in. The phone simply didn't pop up. I'm really hoping that my phone isn't broken, and that I can fix this. Any feedback is very helpful. Thanks
HI, Firstly i have an iphone 4S 16GB. I understand there has been many posts about this but i'm desperate for a direct answer as to why my "other" storage is at 5.20GB. I have gotten ridden of unwanted songs, apps and photos to free up space but yet i still have only 0.9GB free. I also have taken some advice to clear game data like scores etc, emails, messages, bookmarks, blah blah. yet nothing has changed. Even when i restore it fixes it but only for short period of time. Can someone please help me?
i have upgraded and did a back up from my 4s but when i restored to iphone 5 it has lost all of my contacts, emails and messages anyone know how i can retrieve the info? i still have the 4s so i can also do another back up i guess, is that worth trying?
I just purchased the iphone 5 coming from a Samsung Galaxy S3. Where I work, I do not receive cell phone service so I rely heavily on the WiFi to receive emails and iMessages. I've noticed that if the phone sits for a few minutes, the wireless will shut itself off and as soon as I press the home or power button, the wireless kicks in and I get a flood of iMessages and an e-mail chime. On the Samsung, there was an option to keep the wireless on all the time and my question is: Is there a way to keep the phone connected to a WiFi connection all the time so I don't get a delay in messages and emails? I know battery life will suffer and that isn't an issue to me. I just need it to stay connected so I'm not replying to messages 2 hours later when I pick up the phone. Thanks,
Hey guys you've probably read my other threads about a bad iphone battery.here is what happened.i bought an iphone 4 from ebay that had an error 21 ( wouldnt power up unless it was plugged in)i had a bad eSn cracked iphone 4 with me, so i swapped the battery from my old iphone 4 to the new one. The old battery was working perfectly fine on the bad esn iphone. OK so i swapped it and the iphone with error boot it up! i was happy but then while it was still working it got really HOT while being plugged in, while unplugged still warm though. Batter drained quick and got the Temp warning. Then today it died, i tried it on the bad esn iphone and yes battery died. When i opened the iphone again, the battery had some green things coming from the battery. im guessing because it was over heated.not sure what to do now. help anyone?
I don't understand. Is there a question in there somewhere? Or are you just benefitting us with this arcane bit of trivia on the inner workings of the phone? Cause Apple doesn't read these forums. Except for the invisible moderator who's only apparent job is to zap you if you get out of line. We're just ordinary customers with nothing better to do to while the time away. What we may think or do is of little concern to Apple (provided we continue buying the goods).
I don't text while driving which is illigle in my state not to mention unsafe. It drives me crazy when I hear a text come in and no I can't read it or answer. There are apps for androids that send auto replies why isn't there one for iphone? Is there one in the works?
I've read a little bit on here about resetting it and all that but mine still refuses to work.. It just freezes up all the time. Anyone else had this problem recently? And if so how did you fix it? Kinda disappointed in the 5 shoulda keep the 4....
My 16GB iphone kept saying i was close to my memory limit, i realised once i synced it that a lot of the memory was 'other' i read that if you restored your iphone then backed it up that this would help but unfortunately gave me double the amount of 'other' please help
My iPhone5 was working perfectly fine one day. Then I try to reboot my phone, and for some reason it couldn't get past the apple logo. If it did get past the apple logo, one of four things would happen. A.) The apple logo will fade to blue, and reboot over and over again. B.) The apple logo will disappear and the entire screen will turn completely red. C.) The apple logo will just appear and reappear over and over again.D.) The apple logo will dim and the following text will pop up at the top of the screen [NAND] _FindFlashMediaAndKeepout:600 Physical nand block offset 1 [NAND] Start:335 this 0x938e2c0 Provider=0x938efc00 [NAND] WMR_Start:149 Apple PPN NAND Driver, read/Write [NAND] WMR_Start:174 FIL_Init[OK] (I'm not sure if all the spacing is precise, but it was all that mumbo-jumbo) As much as I didn't want to, I restored my phone. I didn't have a lot of my things backed up, so I lost a lot of things I had on there. My phone seemed to be perfectly fine, no errors. It ran smoothly for about 12 hours. Then the same thing happened again. I don't understand why this happened again. I mean I restored my phone completely and all. It just makes no logical sense to me. I just wanted to know what I could do about this. I have Applecare, but I would still have to spend 200 dollars if I need to get a new phone. I don't feel that is right if the phone has factory errors or something. If I could get a clear response on what this is, why it's happening, and how it could be fixed, I will be a very happy young lady. Thank you!
Well, this is the situation, iphone 4S stops ringing and producing any audio FX only do vibrating alerts. No ring at incoming callsNo ring at incoming messagesNo sound in music player (but I have sound with inserted headphones plug)No sound at any appAnd Yes, I passed through "volume configuration", "side button", "do not disturb", "restore", "re-set" and all of the possible "common sense" options. Otherwise I would not be looking for a solution here, where people go to find solutions in the last place, when all other options have been exhausted. There is a lot of rumors about last "defective" iOS upgrades and many people reporting the same kind of problem: Our expensive apparatus stops producing sound. If I can't hear incoming calls it means it's not a phone anymore.Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't want to read "Build your own iphone" book. I just want to know if is there a solution for this particular problem or not? If "yes", what I have to do? If "not" I want my money back. (well the last argument is not for you guys).
