Ringer not working iphone 4S

When a call or text is coming throug there is no sound. The settings seem fine. When I switch the side button to red nothing happens. What used to happen would be the bell sign would come up with a line through it indicating the ringer was switched off but now nothing happens whichever way I switch it. Vibrate is switched on in settings but it isn't vibrating either. Interestingly the alarm is working so the sounds are not completely gone.  I have powered it off an back on etc., but it hasn't made any difference. Any advice. Thanks Paula

I have noticed for the past few weeks that whenever I bump my iphone 4S or put it down on a countertop / desk / bed or really any surface with less than the most possible care, it will vibrate and show the bell with a diagonal line through it.  It isn't due to a notification.   Is anyone else experiencing this problem?  It seems to have been a recent onset. I run an unlocked iphone 4S on T-mobile in an Otterbox defender case.  This seems to be since the t-mobile update.

iMessage buggy since iOS 6.1.3 update iphone 5

Ever since i updated my phone my iMessage has been super buggy. I am not recieving imessages in group conversations or individual ones.. & on the senders side it is showing that it is "delivered" to my phone... I have the iphone 4 on telus.. but I am not the only one with this problem I have multiple friends who have the iphone 4s & 5 on telus and rogers who are having this issue as well.  On top of the imessage issues my battery usage is decreasing faster than usual and my apps keep closing... Everything on my phone is updated.  Anyone else with these issues?

When my dad bought the phone he didn't ask questions he just gave it to me. Being a blackberry user he didn't know that there was a one year warranty and being my first iphone I didn't know either - and rogers didn't tell us. I found out recently that after getting my phone fixed elsewhere twice due to a broken screen that I actually have the warranty. And the recent screen I got fixed is faulty, will Apple still fix it if I sent it to them even if some else fixed it.

Bluetooth connectivity issue after upgrading to 6.1.2 iphone 5

I just upgraded my iphone5 to 6.1.2.  After doing this, bluetooth seems to no longer be working.  Bluetooth setting is on, but is continually searching for devices.  Other Bluetooth enabled devices can see my phone but when trying to pair, my phone doesn't seem to recognize the pairing attempt.  I'm on rogers network.  Anyone else seeing this issue and anyone have a remedy?

Hi I am looking at signing onto a contract or tab for an iphone 5, in Canada, using one of the local providers (rogers, Telus, bell, Virgin etc). I was told in one store that obtaining an iphone 5 on this basis will mean it is locked to the network and that all the networks here are unable to unlock them. I could do it through a third party but that would void my manufacturer's warranty (ie AppleCare).  The Apple store here in Calgary told me different - they said that phones are easily unlocked for a fee by carriers, and didn't mention any loss of warranty. I have previously unlocked a phone through iTunes in Australia, and have had the same phone serviced by Apple with no problems at all. Could someone please clarify what is really the case here in Canada? Thanks

I purchased a gently used iphone 3g in 2011.  I accidentially sync'd phone when i changed my account to a new one. Will iphone 5 (A1428) Will Work on USA (T-Mobile, Cincinnati bell Wireless), Canada (WIND Mobile, Mobilicity, Videotron), Chile (VTR, Nextel)?. I especially interested on vtr carrier in Chile, the don't have offcialy iphone 5, but I used two iPhone4 sice last year, vtr has a AWS network and a roaming service with Movistar (GSM), my iphone is from Entel (GSM).  If I buy an iphone in Chile (Movistar, Claro, Entel) I think, I will buy A1429. If I bought throught Apples Store I'll receive A1428, I want to know if it will work on vtr's AWS network.

I just spoke with bell and they immediately admitted that it was their problem. An issue with their servers is giving bell subscribers a "1012" error on all iOS devices. There is no current fix, but bell is attempting to rectify it on their end.

Recently I upgraded to iphone 5 and since then my iphone 4S was kept in the table drawer. The iphone 4S was factory unlocked and was originally on contract to rogers but was taken off contract after I upgraded to iphone 5. I had a housemate who knew I have two iPhones with me. Last week he left the house for another province and couple days back I discovered my iphone 4S is not there in the table drawer. I called my landlord and told him everything about the incident. After that I filed a police complaint at local police station against that guy. To my surprise, the police says "thousands of phones go missing everyday and we can't search for every phone" and chances to get my iphone seems slim. The phone was restored to factory settings and had no apps installed therefore it makes the search process more difficult. I know with the help of IMEI# the police can trace the phone which I'm **** sure is either sold or in-use by the same guy who stole it however the police seems reluctant to pursue such a case although they have registered my complaint. Is there any way Apple can track down my phone? or any other possible ways to get my phone back.

Notifications for iphone 4 not making sound

     I recieved my iphone 4 in August of 2010 and have had the same one ever since. a few months ago, the ringer stopped working and I figured it was due to the outdated software. However, iTunes was working just fine in that I was able to hear it through the speakers and headphones when they were connected. Along with that, I noticed the button to increase the volume ceased to work. The vibrating still works, but only whenever it wants to; and when I toggle the side button that mutes the device, it will no longer show that a change has been made: ie, the bell-looking thing won't show up, nor will the muted one, and it doesn't vibrate in between switching. The clicking of the keyboard doesn't work, nor does the lock sound, nor the sending (and obviously receiving) of messages.     A few days ago, I upgraded to the new iOS 6 software in hopes that the situation would repair itself and I have had no such luck. I've tried to reset the phone many times, but I cannot seem to find the solution. I have already preordered the iphone 5, so I shouldn't have this issue much longer, but my sister wants my iphone 4 and I'd like to fix it for her.. I don't have any insurance and the manufacturer's warranty is up already, and I am aware that the side button to mute will probably cause these issues, but it's not on silent/vibrate. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Buying unlocked iphone 5 in and Apple retail store in Canada

Hi, My problem: - I need to buy an unlocked iphone 5.- I have a gift card to the tune of over $1200.00 for the Apple store in Canada. I want to use this gift card tobuy the iphone 5- Apple store Canada gift cards cannot be used on the online store.- When I call retail Apple stores directly they tell me they don't sell unlocked versions of the iphone 5, and they don't know if they ever will.- When I call Apple store online support sometimes they tell me this is correct, and others they tell me that the Apple retail stores( in CANADA) do sell it unlocked.  What`s the real answer....  Has anyone in Canada bought an unlocked iphone 5 in the apple store? Definition of "unlocked"  :  The phone is not locked to any carrier even after initial sim card is inserted.  The sim card could be switched to any different network and it would work.  i.e ( bell, rogers, Fido, Virgin)  or when I go to the states I could put in an AT&T or T-mobile card and it would work just fine. Cheers,

Why Siri say it can t find my home address till I leave major city iphone 3G

Whenever I'm in the major city I work in and I ask Siri to directions somewhere outside of that city it doesn't search outside of the city i'm in and tells me it can't find my address of 1234 Gilmore Drive bell town Ontario in London. But once I leave the city of london it can find the address. I've tried to find some wierd setting that makes it do this but no luck anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it ?

Situation:- Factory unlocked iphone 4s- I swap between rogers and StraightTalk SIM chips as I cross the US/Canada border twice a week- I install the StraightTalk APN profile when plugging in the StraightTalk SIM- I remove the StraightTalk APN profile when plugging in the rogers SIM This worked perfectly in iOS 5.1.1 Under iOS 6, this doesn't. Either direction. (Multiple attempts to confirm I wasn't going mad.) Only Resetting Network Settings is successful. (And doing so also resets iMessage settings, bahh!) Several things I've tried, all with no avail:- Turning it off and on again/rebooting- Actually installing a Roger APN profile- Airplane mode on/off Not fatal, but annoying.

Hello, Whenever I take my iphone 5 from my pocket, and hit the lock button to wake it from sleep, it shows that I am connected to 3G. This obviously wouldn't be a problem if I weren't connected to a wifi network. It can sometimes take up to 10 seconds after unlocking my iphone before it displays that I'm connected to Wifi. This might not seem like a big deal, but I'm wondering if it could foresahdow larger issues down the road, or if it's common, and will be fixed in an update? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

iphone 5 battery drain linked to LTE

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has experienced this: When I leave LTE enabled, I can barely get through my day without my iphone 5 dying. If I disable LTE and only enable it to browse the web or when needed, my battery life dramatically increases. I have just put my phone on the charger, it had 15 hours of standby + 7.5 hours of usage and there was still 20% remaining after having toggled LTE on and off only when needed.  I am with rogers and the LTE coverage is generally 2 bars, although sometimes it reverts back to 3G.  Is there a fix for this. Apple advertised the same battery performance for both LTE and 3G, I am clearly not getting this.

Ringer Switch Wonky iphone 5

The switch on the left side of my iphone 5 appears to be malfunctioning. When I move the switch to off, it blinks the "no ringer" symbol (the bell with the slash through it) but then immediately shows the ringer on again with the bell with NO line through it.  Bottom line, the switch doesn't allow me to shut off the ringer in any position. 1. Has anyone else had this problem? 2. Who should I bring the phone to for a repair? (I purchased it through Sprint, and obviously, it's still under the 1-year warranty.) Do I bring it to a Sprint store or an Apple store?

I have recently purchased a used iphone 4S with 5 months remaining on the 1 year warranty (not eligible for Apple Care). Buying used while everyone is upgrading to the new 5 allows me to buy into this market - already have a Mac Book - sadly, can't afford all the luxes brand new. The phone is with rogers but I would like to stick with bell and if I pay rogers the fee to unlock my iphone (no longer under contract) will it be permanent? Do they inform Apple that my iphone should be added to the Apple Registry.  I am asking this because while I was in Jump-Plus one of the staff said that if I accept the new ios 6 Update before I have my phone unlocked then I might have to go back and pay again to have it unlocked. Also, that the Carrier may not be able to unlock the 4S with th ios6 update. What is if any of this info is correct? With my work I do a fair bit of travelling including overseas and I would like to have the phone unlocked for this purpose as well as to keep my old number with bell. Not interested in contracts. I know that I could use a third party app to unlock my phone but I would want to wait until the warranty has run out in Feb 2013. Through some of my reading, it appears that I might have to do the unlock procedure everytime there is a new major software updateWhat are some pros and cons to these kind of apps?  Any feedback, suggestions, out their in th apple community would be greatly appreciated.  Thank-you for your time.

i have a factory unlocked iphone, im living in jamaica, upon trying sim cards from both local carriers the iphone keeps displaying no sim installed, so it wont activate. i have this sim card from a carrier called CHATR when that sim is  inserted it reads, activates the iphone and searches for network, then register carrier information as rogers 12.0in settings/general/about.  i have tried restoring over a dozen times, reset network settings, cycle airplane mode on and off, restarted and it still wont pick up the sim cards from here...i've used iphones with both carriers before, and is still using a 3gs on one of them now so its not an issue where the carriers dont support iphone usage.any help withthis would be appreciated

iphone 4G 32GB Not jailbroken or anything. Pretty much mint condition. I bought this iphone from a friend. I had it for about a week now, and barely touched it because it had no sim and I didn't want to do anything just yet. I did however upload some songs from iTunes. Thats pretty much it.  I got a sim card from bell Canada and put on a ishieldz screen protector. It was acting up a little, but I thought it was just the screen protector drying. After ten minutes, mid text, it completely froze. I didn't know what to do so I turned it off, thinking I could restart it. After that it wouldn't turn on again. It still hasn't turned on. I've tried charging it through both the computer and the outlet. I've even charged it without the sim card. I left it for at least 40 minutes each time and nothing happened.  Anyone know what happened...?

My iphone 4S has been fine for the past few months until i got this annoying problem. I can't call people or receive calls. or text anyone or receive any texts. I only receive calls and texts when I am at home. I have good service at some times. Like when i make a call it doesn't ring or anything. when i try to end it the call it says 'ending' but it doesnt end so i have to shut it off and turn it on again. when i send a text at the top when it says 'sending' it stops near the end. my buddy said she got the text and texted me back but i never got the text. i got the text later on when i got home. And my 3G doesnt work. Then I get anpother problem. My phone won't charge when it's plugged in. It only works when i plug it in then shut it off. then it charges when it is off. I dont get it. I can't figure out what is wrong.. Should I bring in my phone to get checked out at carrier Tbaytel/rogers? It has been going on for a few months. I tried reseting my Network settings it didnt worrk.

This article claims bell Canada supports visual voicemail when in fact it isn t properly implemented. iphone

  Although you can play the voicemail from the screen, it doesn't show who called, nor can you delete it or change your outgoing message.  Trying to delete the message causes the phone app to crash and boot you to the home screen.  I based my decision on this article and it was a major disappointment that I still had to dial my voicemail and review the messages to delete them.  I find this very misleading and Apple needs to update this article with a foot note saying that only part of visual voicemail is implemented with this carrier.

Long story short iphone dunked in salt water

OK, I'm stuck and don't know what to do.... I'm search and rescue and were pulled a guy from the atlantic today (deceased).  He was washing up on the beach in the wave action so I had to grab him and keep him from being pulled back out.  Problem is, the wave pulled me in to about mid calf. My iphone 4 was in my leg pocket.  It got a dunk in salt water. It was in an otter box, but a couple drips came in the headphone port.  Yup, it's dead. It started heating up so I pulled the battery after taking hte back off.  After taking the phone apart a bit more, I could see where one of the connectors had burnt/corroded.  A though drying and cleanin g and I put it back together.  Now, nothing. Great, just great.  I try to hook it up to Itunes and it recornizes the phone! Great I think, at least I can back up my apps, contacts, etc.  I click sync and it stops at "back up". I have a passcode on the phone and it wants it entered.  Well, no screen or touch screen because the phone is dead. Even tried tapping hte screen where teh numbers would be....no dice. How can I backup my phone in it's current state without entering the passcode on the phone?!? Please help, theres a lot of important stuff on my phone for my work....... Also, once I replace the phone can I get my backed up files on to the new phone? The original phone is a 32 gb iphone 4 with the latest updates (5.1.1) but I'll probably have to go with the newer 4 S at a 300 dolalr purchase, a 279 dolalr buyout of my current contract and another 3 year contract....my service provider is nto willing to do anything to help me out either,  Boy that great customer servie from bell/Aliant for a customer of 13 yearsisn't it? Boooooo bell/Aliant. I'm seriously considering a new provider now.....

Could someone please assist. (iphone 4 IOS 5.1.1)I have tried all the setting ect. The silent button on the side of the phone alos does not function.. i have tried switching it on and off and i do not even get the bell symbol on screen. all the other sound functions work.. music, video, alarm and i can hear callers when i answer. I also hear the ringtone through bluetoothe in my car on hands free. has anyone got any idea whats wrong.. Oh!! i have reset my phone 2 times in as many weeks to try and resolve the problem.. iphone 4 iOS 5.1.1 sends iMessages to Android which doesn t receive obviously

Alright. A quick story line about my situation, I've been reading a lot of similar problems but not quite the same. So maybe somebody can clue me in on a possible fix, easiest as possible. I would GREATLY appreciate that. I've had the Samsung Galaxy S (rogers) since the day it came out. Months later, I hated the reception it was giving, so I had to get a new phone from a different carrier, so I chose bell (since I've many an issue from Telus in my younger teenage days). And so I naturally kept my samsung as a spare emergency phone and tucked it away to never be used again, dropped the bill to 20 a month and that was that. So now I live in a different town 2 hours away from where I used to live, and my iphone has been a great phone as far as everything goes. My girlfriend has been needing a new phone as her old flip phone is about to bite the dust. To save us both a lot of money and time, it was easier just to add unlimited texting to the rogers samsung and change the number to a local, as opposed to adding a new phone to my plan. That was done in a matter of minutes, no hassle. Checked the samsung about a half hour after the changing the number, and all was changed just fine.  Tested it to see if it would send texts. Perfect. My iphone 4 received it nearly instantiously. BUT, when I send the samsung a text, it sends it as an iMessage? ***, why? It makes no sense in any way, nor should it EVER make sense. But, it is what it is. Here's the kicker. My iphone 4 has NO problem sending a call to the Android. So that's at least a little bit of good news. It's just the iMessage having issues, because the Android doesn't have it lol. This isn't just MY iphone 4, her brother also has one (same fully updated iOS), and we asked him to send my Android a text, but his also does the same thing. He gets the texts, but sends them as an iMessage. So this is a problem, and a huge issue to not just ME, but a LOT of people it seems. Any ideas? And sorry for the long story, just seemed easier to explain myself so everyone has a clear understanding of the situation.

My iphone 4G as been replaced for a new one 3 times in 10 days, SIM card as well! Still have tons of problem to connect to the bell mobility network.Area of misconnection it's around Quebec City, in a very large zone (over 20 kms from east to west) and about 5 kms north of down town Quebec They had tried every single way to fix my problem, everything as been restored and/or reinitailized Anyone know my options?  Anybody else has issued with bell and their iphone 4G around Quebec City?

Hello,My name is Marrid and I'm from Israel.A few months ago I purchased iphone 4 16GB in 650$ (USD) on eBay but the seller didn't tell me that it's locked to bell Canada.I have contact with bell Canada's support to request unlock but thay said that thay cannot unlock iPhones and tell me to contact Apple.I would appreciate if you help me and unlock my device, so I can use it after a long time it's on the shelf.Thank you,

Just wanted to ask , cause the closest bell store is like a 2 hr drive. U
