Does anyone have audio fail problem on their iphone 5 (iOS 6.1.4)? This happeded twice on my iphone. First time was when I was using my phone as usual and it just suddently truned into mute by itself. The other one was when the alarm was ringing but no sound just vibration. I'm sure that I did not turn into silent mode. Except the sound, it still functions well. System just poped up a message asking me to reboot my device. It recovered after restart, but I still want to know how to deal with this problem.
4S got run over by a car. I changed the broken display, functionality (sound, vibration, cameras, wireless, mobile data, emails and other notifications come in, I can here SIRI, etc.) is working (tested via cylay). Battery always low and phone turns off pretty fast after unplugging from the charger. Plugged in it turns off itself after about five minutes and restarts immediately again + display doesn't work (sometimes gets bright but there appears no clear picture only some grey tones). It worked about three times though that the display was clear and I could use the phone for about five minutes before it lost its picture again. What could be broken?
Hello apple support community. My i phone 5 that I recently bought last Sunday (May 5th) has some major issues. The battery life is TERRIBLE!! I have tried to lower brightness, turn off lte, turn off vibration, etc... But nothing is working!!! I exchanged the iphone for another black 32 gig, but event this one is pretty bad. I got 5hrs 20mins of usage, and 7hrs 16mins on standby. This is my second charge on this new phone. I drained it down to 0% when I first got it and then an overnight charge for 8hrs all the way up to 100%. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! All answers would be greatly appreciated!- Biggie_LP
we bought it from the same store at the same time. it becomes to annoying. sillent mode is for keeping it silent but vibration of the phone is like super loud ringtone.
Tried everything people have told me.. Will apple replace this? I took my phone in a few nights ago becasuse the screen was broken. They fixed it but vibration stopped working.. Tried Hard Reset and Settings and sound.. Turned Virbation on and still nothing Please help!
So I cracked my iphone 4S screen and I bought a new screen from amazon and I put it all together. When I turned on the iphone it showed all black with nothing but I felt the vibration when it turned on and when I switched from sound to vibrate it also vibrated. I opened the iphone and checked all the cables and it turned out I had a loose cable. I plugged it back on. Then, I had a grey flickering screen and I couldn't use any buttons like volume or home buttons and I couldn't see a slide to unlock or the time it was plain grey and flickering... Can someone help me with my flickering grey screen issue? Would help out a lot, thank you!
My iphone 4S went black, I tried to do a reset, held home and power button, but did not work. I plugged it in, and still nothing except it continues to vibrate every 3 seconds. I tried a reset while plugged in and nothing, screen stays black and it just vibrates. As soon as I unplug it the vibration stops. I figure I'll go into Verizon tomorrow, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Okay guys, Here is my issue with some backstory; Bought a black 64gb iphone 5 new as soon as they first came out.No issue. I upgrade my iOS as soon as updates come out, and this issue has been present since I upgraded to iOS 6.1.And has not been fixed since then. I sent a feedback form to apple before 6.1.2 was released, now even at 6.1.3 the issue has not been fixed. It's difficult to describe, and very hard to find anyone else with the same issue online, as the keywords used are similar to many other issues. Basically, when my phone is locked and the screen is off, I press a button, no response, this can be any button, even trying to power down the unit, but nothing happens. I can plug in the charger, no sound, no vibration, but 30-60 seconds later, the screen will come on, the phone will vibrate, and it will make a sound. Everything is back to normal. I've tried restoring, but it doesn't fix the problem, I would think it's a software issue as it only became an issue after I upgraded to iOS 6.1. This isn't an isolated incident as my girlfriend who I also set up with a black 16gb iphone 5 is also having the exact same issue. There doesn't appear to be any sort of trigger that causes it, it can happen once a day, or once every few days, or 10 times in 2 hours! It's not a huge issue I know, but it has led to missing calls, and even missing bids on eBay etc. I'm just here to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue, and to see if there's a proper way to describe this... freezing? unresponiveness? And perhaps this might help other people with the same issue if we find a way to resolve it. Thanks for reading!
Hi! I bought iphone 5 last week and found this: In the area of the camera on the back when tapped / on incoming call vibration / at the time when I put on the table, I hear a clearly sound, as if some kind of spring or something in the upper part of the phone is tinkling. What is that and is it normal?????
Hello...I hope someone out there can help. I am very un-technical, and I'm afraid to ask my husband, who isn't, for help until I have exhausted other possibilities. I was browsing the internet on my new iphone5 when it slipped headfirst into the lukewarm, half-empty cup of black tea on my lap. So it was partially submerged in tea for about 1 second. I yanked it out, dried it off, shook it out, then not knowing what else to do at 4 AM, grabbed the hair dryer and very gently and very briefly blew air towards the top openings (speaker and pone jack). The phone had worked for a few seconds after I retrieved it, but I didn't know to be sure it was turned off...i just assumed (I know, I know) it was turned off since the screen was totally black. About ten minutes later, when my previously out-of-battery ipad was charged enough for me to look up "wet iphone" I put the phone into a bag of rice and kept searching for help online. About 30 mins later I had the SIM card removed and put the phone back into the rice. Left it in rice for 1 full day, then when when I could finally get to a store, I put it in between two "damp-rid" type packets inside a lunchbox on top of my water heater where it is warm. I left it alone for four or five days, then tried turning it on. nothing. Then I put the sim card in, and felt the little vibration of a phone powering on!! Screen was almost completely dark, so I returned it to the damp rid coffin it into the damp rid container for Another few days. Ans so, the exciting conclusion: Just now, I connected it to iTunes and could see very faintly enough to use the touchscreen. Reinstalled everything, and made a call to my husband so he won't wonder why I haven't called him from my iphone for ten days. Everything else seems to work but I want to know if I can fix the screen in any way. There are no apple stores in Germany yet and I don't want to buy a replacement phone. Techie: Can and/orShould I take it apart and look for corrosion? i have read some DIY tips for older phones on other forums but not for iphone 5. Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Over the past couple of days, my phone (iphone 4) has been random vibrating and/or making various sounds. When this happens, there are no notifications. It will just sound or buzz for what seems to be no reason. Most of the time, my applications are not on. I have push on for my mail application, but that's it. The phone is in good condition, it's never been dropped or damaged in any way. Anybody else experiencing something similar to this?
I have been back to bluewater about my phone 5times due to faults. I had sim stuck in my 1st replacement then I had no silent mode on the 2nd and the 3rd phone I was dropping calls and the home button sticking. This still happens. I then went back after Xmas with the same fault and was told there is no fault and this was just software issues. I then asked how long my warranty was left and that I was not happy with this and they said not long about 2weeks I think this is now up. But I have had problems from day 1. I was told by a manager that the iphone 4 was rubbish and now old and can't cope with the work load, I stated that the phone was less than 2months old and I had no problems with the original until I dropped it and smashed the screen. I have also since had a problem with the camera not working correctly. And now I have noticed that the sound does not work on text tone. And the vibration also doesn't work. So I am getting txt then not realising. I have to travel 30miles there and back every time I take my phone into the shop to get told this is software, I think this is an excuse to not sort the problem. I need to bring this phone back because of sound. If you could please get back to me on this it would be great. Lloyd
I woke up this morning via my alarm settings on my iphone 5. Came back to the phone about 45 minutes later and noticed there was no sound for the lockpad, calls, alarms, notifications, ringtones, music, other apps, etc. I followed some of the of the steps I've found through through the community: - Confirmed silent button wasn't turned on- Confirmed both ringtone/sound volumes were turned up- Turned off bluetooth- Forced Reboot- Regular Shutdown/Restart- Reset All Settings (Without Content)- Disable/Enable Change with Buttons- Disabled/Enabled Vibrate on Ring/Silent When attempting to change a ringtone with "vibrate on ring" and silent button turned off the vibrate kicks in however no tone. I've seen this in the past with my 4S and it only took a forced reboot to clear it. Anyone else experiencing this issue as of 2013? I heavily rely on sounds for alarms, notifications, etc (as I'm sure everyone else does) so any word of advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
hi everyone i recently installed ios 6.1 on my iphone 4 and now my phone does not vibrate at all.. alarms, phone calls, messages, and even switching to silent doesnt vibrate. ive checked my settings and vibrate is enabled. if i go into vibrate settings for a call and try to change the vibration pattern no vibration occurs even then.does anyone have some suggestions for this issue?
iphone 4, 6.01. notification sounds are no longer activated for phone, msgs atal. sounds are working though and selected forall. vibration is activated though. did a complete reset but did not fix it. is it possible to reinstall 6.0.1? seems it can't be done on the new ITunes format
When on the phone there is a vibration coming through my earpiece and person on the other end says it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. Only last for a second or two then quits for a few minutes then starts again
When I link my iPhone5 with my car's phone system (using Bluetooth), there are no sound notifications for incoming SMS, calendar alarms, or any other reminders. Because I have my phone set for sound and vibration, it still vibrates. I am using it in a 2011 BMW. I did not have this problem when I had my iphone 3G. Any suggestions?
I purchased a 32gb iphone 5 - Black+Slate, Verizon from the Apple Store last Sunday. I am running iOS 6.0.1. Since then, it has been vibrating in my pocket without any apparent cause. This occassionally happens when I apply pressure to the upper left corner of the phone, and it has also happened while I have had the phone unlocked as well, displaying the silent mode symbol and vibrating. I'm beginning to suspect that this is a hardware defect with either the vibrating motor or the silent switch, and want to know if anybody can confirm that this is a known defect or issue. I am concerned that if I don't address it, I won't be eligible for a replacement phone. This issue does not concern my ability to determine if the phone is set to silent mode or not, nor my vibrate settings. This is a vibration that occurs randomly, and transiently. I have also tried a hard reset, switching from silent to normal mode, and restoring the phone. Should I just have it replaced?
I have problem now 5 days ago i dont have at all audio. is like silent and only vibration..Serial number: C38H4Y0XDTC0THANK YOU REGARDSSimos
Has Anyone else experience a glitch in the iphone 5 when the vibration will glitch out and just randomly vibrate on its own? I hope it's not just my iphone.
Hey guy I found a solution for you.I had the same problem with my iphone 4 and I tried right below solution, check it out. First of all, I tried all the solutions for the iphone written other websites but It didn't work properly. Weak vibration. I even changed the vibrator with new one, but it didn't work. I tried my old vibrator with the other iphone of my wife, it works in there perfectly. I think something wrong with the connection area of the vibrator. Problem is the phone. Then I decided to solve it by myself. I open back cover of iphone and first removed battery then the vibrator. And check if there is anything stocking the vibrator head then try to remove the ringer button from inside, clean around, and put everything back like vibrator and the battery. Finally you good to go. vibration working like new one. All of this try worked for me. I hope it works for you too. Give it a try and feedback. Thanks, good luck.
I dropped my iphone 4 from a high place to a rough surface, and the upper left corner of the metal casing (which is the corner of the headphone jack) is bent. The headphone jack is bent too, and the upper little ring of the jack popped out. The headphone is hardly fitting in, and when I'm talking to someone using headphones, they say it's very noisy and hardly understand me. Also the vibration stopped working for a day. When I realized it's not working, I shaked the phone to see if it is just a loose connection and it worked again but the vibration is too weak, I can hardly feel it. Maybe the motor is stuck inside the bent metal. I can say that it is not possible to repair it, because all the middle metal casing, vibration motor and headphone jack needs to be changed. So the phone needs to be replaced. The question is, should I take it to the apple store? This is an accidental damage but is there any chance that they'll replace it? Do the geniuses do these kind of stuff? Do you think apple will cover this damage? Or should I just forget about it and repair it myself? Thank you for your answers.
Whenever i get a text message, my phone vibrates. After the vibration theres also this faint rattling noise that i hear. Like something loose inside my phone. You also hear it when you tap on the back or you place it down. Its annoying and makes the phone feel cheap. I did have the same problem with the iphone 4 but that turned out to be camera autofocus? But this is an iphone 5. Plus, i'm also hearing stories of how the rattling is a loose battery? I'm confused and don't know what's up with the iphone 5's. Rattling is annoying and just makes my apple product feel so cheap.
Hello,I've updated version of the deviceAnd since I do not have a ringing sound and you can not increase the Huolim and buttons on the vibration does not work only works on your device.Wants your helpLior

Hi all, Does anyone know how to DISABLE vibration for viber messages only? Given the battery life of iphone I wanna save as much as i can of it. Please share your thoughts. I disabled vibration for TEXT messages but viber still vibrates
I first had a problem with the left speaker not working on the bottom of the phone, then when using heeadphones the left er began to lose nearly all volume and now both are damaged. this is permanent damage not caused by anything other than the phone and has already made 2 seperate pairs of Beats By Dre nearly useless. when i use the headphones in any other device the damage still exists also, the iphone vibrates randomly with 1 vibration not caused by any apps or notifications at all. does apple repair this for free?
The phone is driving me nuts!!! I have done the following; soft reset, readjusted settings on messages and vibration. I don't get the banner, vibration or sound - occassionaly - it isn't a constant thing. Doesn't matter where I am or if it is 3G or wireless. I can have the text screen open and not get a message, only to close it and reopen and there is a message, or the phone isn't active and nothing...Very tough to be in contact with people, they must think I am a spaz.
text and ringtone not working. Speaker works but phone sounds and vibration not working
Both me and my friend noticed that whilst charging our iphone 5's, there is a slight vibration on the back casing. It feels like a tiny electric buzz. I tested this to see if a voltage was present and there was infact 3 volts present. This disappeared when I turned the charger off and returned when switched back on. It may seem fussy but in my eyes surely there should be no voltage whatsoever present on something handheld, especially enough to give any physical effect. Does anyone agree or has anyone else noticed this.
with the release of the iphone 5, apple changed the dock connection...so i can no longer use it with my ihome alarm clock without an adapter.since apple has not yet made available the adapter, i've been using alarm in the clock app to wake-up.i love that i can set the alarm to a song...but i do not like that it vibrates when the alarm goes.how do i turn off the vibration for the alarm on my iphone 5 running ios 6?thanks.

I guys, I'm living in Sydney. I love Apple products because they look very sleek and beautiful but I do have somethings I don't like about Apple. I feel like Apple's product quality is going down since the iphone 4. Apple iphones' problem does not appear to be major but there are tiny small defects that come with different iphones. I have been Apple fan since I bought myself an iphone 4. That was also when I start experiencing frustration with Apple products such as dead pixels, yellow tint screen, small scratches right out of the box, loud noisy vibration on iphone 4s, loose button and tons of other minor defects. Even-though those tiny little defects wont affect me using the phone but it makes me feel like cheap phones, assembled negligently, feel I paid for a second hand phones. Those are just my personal experiences and my personal opinion, I might be wrong. Do not judge me on this. To make my opinions more justifiable, the following is my most recent story with Apple, the latest iphone, the iphone 5. I have got my brand new iphone 5 two days ago, I was so excited until I saw a dead pixel near the bottom left of the screen after an hour of playing. I immediately booked an appointment at genius bar, the genius guy swapped me a new iphone 5 from a white box (not sure if it was a refurbished phone or not). I spent a few minutes on checking the new phone and i found a dead pixel again near the top left of the screen. I was like very angry, I asked the genius guy to replace me a brand new phone sealed in the box and he was like ok, he said he will call me later in the next few days to come to pick up a brand new phone and return the current one because they don't have the phone in stock atm. So now I'm still using the defective phone and waiting for their call. If the brand new phone that I will get has any other problem, I would definitely ask for refund. I know Apple customer service is great, they give you a replacement unit if your one is defective but that's might not work if they keep replacing you new phones and you keep having new problems with replacement phones. It's like running in a circle and never end. Having this type of service is great but I think it must collaborate with good product quality control. Once the phone is replaced with a new phone, the new phone is expected to be defects free and able to be used for a long term. Myself as a customer would feel very happy in the first time after Apple gave me a new replacement phone but who knows the new phone will have potential defects. If I didn't check the replacement phone, I would have walked home with the problem and it will waste me another appointment schedule in the future when I discover that dead pixel on the screen. Eventually, my message to Apple is that their product quality control is really bad. If they don't improve their quality control, customer will keep bringing back their items and Apple will keep replacing new ones. That will be wasting Apple's resources and customers' time. Personally, replacing a unit once or twice and problems are gone is great but going back to genius bar a few times a week or a month is frustrating! That wastes my time. I have been running in the circle not only with the iphone 5, also with iphone 4, iphone 4s, ipad 2. Each one of them has various problems. If Apple don't improve their product quality in the future, maybe one day I will shift to another platform such as Android no matter how good their customer service is and how great their softwares are.
Hi all, My iphone does not have any sound coming out of it at all (music/apps/ringtones alert tones/keyboard clicks/calls) through the internal speaker/s or even by headphones and it seems my mic is also dead as people on the other line that call me cannot hear me too. I can hear music from my iphone through my laptops speakers when connectd to itunes via the dock. It also does not vibrate at all. Other than that I can play games, receive and send txt messages and do all the other things but very silently. It all started when I accidentally dropped my iphone a few weeks back and my lcd screen cracked. It still had full sounds coild play music receive calls hear app sounds click etc and vibrate even though the screen was cracked. I had the lcd screen replaced the day after and everything was ok with it. It had normal sounds and vibration functions until two days later when it just stopped making any sounds at all and stopped vibrating. I plugged in headphines but still could not hear anything. I plugged the phone thru itunes on my laptop and was suprised to hear sounds coming from my laptops speakers. So obviously th dock connector works. I took it back to the technician who replaced my screen and he changed the internal speaker and mic but still no sound and I could not record on mic so its not those parts. One thing that makes me believe its a board or ic problm is that before i lost the sound and vibration on my iphone it became very hot after a person called me 4 times until the phone rang out 2 days after I got the screen replaced. It eventually shut down 2-3 times due to overheating. The next morning the sound and vibration were gone. I've tried the dock and headphone and cleaning trick. Hard restart, reset, and all the suggestions I could find on the internet but to no avail. Has anyone come across this problems and been able to fix their iphone/s. Thanks heaps in advance,Reg
I purchased new iphone 4s from US last month. It was working fine. But from last few days I noticed that its giving some rattling sound on vibration. It sounds like something is loose.Has anyone faced the same issue ? Please suggest what to do ?
I noticed that I had a faint rattle (vibration like noise) when I set my iphone down today. I thought maybe one of the buttons was loose and rattling when I put the phone down. It has been in a case since day one. I called Apple support and they asked me if the noise I was hearing was seemed like it was coming from around the camera area. I said yes. You can hear the rattle when you lightly (and I mean lightly) tap the phone against your hand. I will be getting a replacement but I wondered if anyone else was experiencing this problem.
Exactly what the subject says. The message ringtone is working and all of a sudden you get a txt msg and you no longer hear the sound only vibration (my message sound option is set up for ringtone and vibration). I have to restart the phone to get the message sound back. Any suggestions?
I have big problem with the USB-Cable from the iphone 5. When i try to load the iphone via Macboo Pro, there come the Sound or the vibration. Ok, at my iphone comes the vibration everytime, the display change from the normal display to the battery-display and back. No loading, only change and vibration... Also at the power-supply or another Computer. I try to restore at the iphone, but no effect. Where is the problem?
Does anyone else have the same random vibration with their iphone 5? It is not a vibrate you can set in the settings, it is just a single vibrate that lasts about 2 seconds. It will randomly do it at times and I have read over similar problems with the 4 and the 4s that others have had. I did what others said to try and fix it with the 5 and its not working at all. I cant see it being a factory defect opposed to just finding out whats making it do it in my phone.- If the phone is set to high volume, it will do the message notification ring. But when I look check, I have none. Nothing from mail, messaging, voicemail, game notifications...Nothing! So I dont have a clue what it could be. Any help with similar problems would be much appreciated.
my vibration button button doesnt work
I like that the alarm sounds even if my phone is in silent mode. What I can't stand is that the phone vibrates when I get messages; It wakes me up.Is there a way to turn off all sounds and vibrations, except for the alarm?I understand that I can switch off the vibrate and sounds in settings, but I want the vibration and sounds to work when the phone isn't in silent mode.
I just got an iphone 5 yesterday. Everything seems to be working fine except for notifications regarding with messages. If my phone is not being used, I still get a notification if I get a new text message or iMessage, like normal. I also hear the tri-tone and feel a vibration if I get a message during a phone call, like normal. However, when I am using my phone and in any app (any Apple app or app from the App Store), I do not get a notification along the top of screen indicating I have a new message or a vibration! Half of the time I don't even know I have any new messages untl I press the home button and see the badge icon. Also, when in the message app, I do not feel a vibration if a new incoming message comes in. Does anyone know what I should do? I am not sure if I this is a bug with notification center or just messages. I am not aware of it being a problem with other app notifications (facebook, twitter).
For those who have a battery rattle iphone 5, you can try to fix this problem by running the vibrator for a few minutes. There 2 ways to do this, download and run free vibrator app in AppStore or turn your iphone 5 in vibration mode and use another phone to call your iphone 5. While the vibrator motor is running, leave your iphone 5 on surface (table top). This will help the battery vibrates and sticks to the adhesive on the housing. I accidentally fixed my iphone 5 that way. If the above way doesn't fix then bring the phone to Apple store. Good luck and let us know if it help.
Does anybody know a fix to alert tones not working? As well as vibration! My ringtones work fine and when I go to turn my vibration [on] at the sound settings it vibrates fine. But when I use the switch at the top left It doesn't vibrate. And my alert tones don't make a sound and that goes for every single alert tone, I tried changing it but none make a sound. It's like my phone is on silent!! Someone please help me out, I have an iphone 4!!
I'm having some trouble noticing when getting an SMS (and even more with whatsapp), so I would like to know if there is any way to make the vibration go stronger or to make it last longer.
For some random reason, my 4s decided to mute push on Facebook and 4square I need this sound for push... I'm not the only one, 4 friend have the issue, sum 1 knows how to fix?
It is extremely annoying to be on the phone and have a text come through with the volume in your ear and the vibration. Any fix to this?
So I want my phone to vibrate ONLY when I recieve calls, SMS, etc. I have the silent button on the side flipped on and both options for vibration under sounds flipped to on. The phone vibrates when I receive calls and when I receive SMS if I already have iMessage open. However, if I don't have iMessage open, my phone does not vibrate when I receive SMS. How can I fix this?
Could someone please assist. (iphone 4 IOS 5.1.1)I have tried all the setting ect. The silent button on the side of the phone alos does not function.. i have tried switching it on and off and i do not even get the bell symbol on screen. all the other sound functions work.. music, video, alarm and i can hear callers when i answer.
