After my iphone battery was very weak before (within one day almost empty, I charged it every day)Yesterday in the train my iphone turned off. (forget to recharge it). At home I then connected to the mains.The iphone booted with the white apple, and then went out again.I thought: Thats ok ... needs to charge more ...After 4 hours of charging, I could not turn my iphone on.The only thing was: If it connected to the mains supply or via USB, it has booted with the white apple logo; this disappeared after about 15 seconds and the iphone went out accordingly.Ive taken it in DFU mode and connected via USB to the PC. (Otherwise it couldnt be recognized by iTunes.)While software restoring with DFU mode appears either (This device could achieve a higher performance Windows Messages) and the restoration breaks offor else the screen of the iphone turns white, iTunes says: Prepare device to restore (about 15 seconds) and then the error message:Error 23Ive already tried countless original firmwares (Inculding 3.1.3). Everytime the same error.And, if I want restore it in recovery mode, immediately after the firmware has been extracted, comes the error 23 (At the moment, where the iphone should reboot)The display remains white. Hi, I brought a 3GS last year from a Vodafone store outright, since I was on the 3 network at the time I got it unlocked and away I went, I went back to Vodafone this year but now it will not work with the Vodafone sim card. The message I get from iTunes is below:The sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. Please insert the sim card that came with your iphone or visit a supported carriers store to receive a replacement sim card.When I got it unlocked from Vodafone the first time I connected to iTunes and it said you have carrier updates to download so that is what unlocked it, I assumed 3 had locked it with the update but I rang and they said under no circumstances it gets locked again, I went back to the Vodafone store and they tried another sim card and the same deal, I went home and did a restore and still have the same issue. 3 said if the restore doesnt work contact Vodafone, Vodafone says contact 3.By the way my farther has the same issue with his iphone 3GS. Hey people. Just wondering if anyone can help me regarding a problem I have with my iphone 3g. When trying to use it earlier I noticed it wasnt responding whatsoever, not even resetting or rebooting what not, so I couldnt restore it. I then followed some advice and put it in DFU mode, which enabled my phone to connect with iTunes and began to restore. My problem is that when I came back there was an error message saying the restore couldnt happen and since my iphone wont respond to anything so I cannot restore it.Would apreciate if someone could help me out iphone OS 3.1.3

Volume Vibrate Wonky 3.1.3 update iphone 3g

Hello. I currently have an iphone 3g. It has been fully submerged in water once. Thankfully, after the rice trick, I successfully managed to salvage my iphone. It works completely fine. Still, to this day, I am amazed. Until I updated to Update 3.1.3. Then, things got really wonky. For instance, I would feel the iphone vibrate go off. The switch was not on, it showed no orange dot. So, after that, I went home, got the thing out of my pocket, and now, the freak show started. I took it out of my pocket, and then on the home screen, It was rapidly switching back and forth from the silent mode to the ringer on mode. I didnt touch the switch at all. I am not one of those people who plays with it all the time, switching it on and off. Still, I did submerge it in water, so I hard-resetted it, didnt turn it back on, and took it apart. Nothing seemed wrong with the internals. I put it back together and booted it, normal boot, nothing fancy. So that problem seems to be fixed. Then, the volume rocker started having the same problem, but it stopped. So both buttons worked until now, which it wont go down in volume. I had just hard rebooted again, and it still has the same problem. Booted, Volume went way down, put it in sleep, unlocked it again, same thing. Please give me some advice. Even if you dont have an exact solution, anything is welcome. At least if you have the problem post that you have the problem. Is it the hardware? Is it the software? unknown error 1603 when trying to restore my iphone 3g in itunes-help

hello everyone - any help on the following issue would be greatly appreciated!just updated to latest version of i tunes on my PC, synced all my new music etc, then phone just got stuck on the black screen with the small apple logo in the middle. phone (iphone 3g) wont turn on and just has the signal to connect to itunes. so i connect to itunes and it says iphone is in recovery mode - must restore phone to use, so i do that but it keeps getting stuck on the preparing to restore i phone screen for a few mins before coming up with unknown error 1603.anyone else had this problem?anyone know if i can log into i tunes on a different computer and try to restore it?if problem persists do i go to o2 shop where i bought it, or apple shop to sort it?? iphone 3g 3.1.2 iphone wont turn on diff to normal

Hi phone wont turn on.iphone wont turn on or off.. HOWEVER.. if I plug into the wall charger (and note ONLY the wall charger) it will go to the apple logo (and eventualy turn off) I can also (only when connected to wall charger) make it go into restore mode... but the moment i take out the USB/dock cable the phone turns off... anoying...Ive tried the cable on iphones/ipods and it works.. also tried the cable plugged into my computer my macbook my ps3 and skyHD box.. and none will make it do anything just the wall charger.(note it doesnt say its charging aswell when its plugged into wall)Ive replaced the battery of the phone and still no dice.. infact i replaced the WHOLE back assembly of the phone and still nothing!any advice would be handy.. but I believe ive done everything possibleincluding hard reset, soft reset DFU mode etc etc... but cant do anything unless its plugged into wall charger (if it was in computer i could atleast restore it and see what happensalso note. the water damage connecters are fine.I still think it means a logic board swap but cant for the life of me think why. iphone OS 3.1.2 Watercooling powered.

iphone wont charge via USB

I have a brand new iphone (2 days old). I also have a PC running Windows XP with the latest version of iTunes installed. Yesterday, when I received my phone I was able to connect to my PC successfully and Sync and charge my phone via a standard USB port.As part of this process my phone was upgraded to the latest version of iphone O/sToday, for some inexplicable reason, I can sync but I cannot recharge my phone. Whenever I connect I get a message along the lines Charging is not supported with this accessory.FYI: (1) I am using a brand new Apple supplied USB cable. (2) I was using the same USB port as I did yesterday. (3) My phone wont recharge on any of the other 6 USB ports on my PC either.(4) All these USB ports are working correctly with other USB devices.(5) I have done a hard reboot of my iphone(6) I have done a backup/reset/restore using iTunes and still no joy.The only idea I have is that I was using a slightly older version of the iphone O/s when I first connected and now I am running a later version which, maybe, has some software glitch in relation to recharging ???Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated. iphone iphone OS 3.1.3

iphone wont connect to 3g network

A couple of days ago i notice that my phone was only using the GPRS connection and not the 3g connection. I thought it was maybe no 3g reception where i was but yesterday i was with a friend who has the same 3g iphone and on the same network (Optus - Australia) and his had a perfect 3g connection and mine was still on GPRS.I have tried restarting iphone, turning Airplane mode on then off, turning 3g enable off then back on, resetting iphone (holding down power and home buttons until phone shuts down), using iTunes to restore iphone, removing sim card and re-inserting.Dont know what else to try??? iphone 3g 16G iphone OS 3.1.3

3g network Issues in Washington DC iphone

FYI - my iphone is repeatedly giving the Call Failed notification when i am calling in 3g mode, so i called the mother ship. AT&T is working on their 3g network here until this afternoon (Wed, 02/17/10), so its not the phone. Switching off 3g is the easy work around (settings/general/network). I am trying to delete emails and the iphone 3g wont let me. i push the email icon, brings me to one of the several inboxes, i push edit, 2 sec late it kicks me out off email and brings me back to the home screen. i tried to restore the iphone 3 times. i am using the same backup to get all my contacts back. how can i resolve the issue? i dont care if i have to restore it again and start from scratch but i do want to keep my contacts. is there a way to back up just the contacts?thank you HP Pavilion Windows XP

Botched Update iphone 3g

Im having trouble since I attempted to update my firmware. The updater said that there was an error, and now I cant get access to my backed up files. Ive lost everything: contacts, photographs, and settings. When I try to restore from backup, it just offers me the option of some weird backup called unknown. After 3.1.3 upgrade voice mail alert window wants new password iphone

Since my 3.1.3 upgrade I have several problems but this is the worst. Alert window comes on all the time demanding new voicemail password. I have never changed my password and everything worked great until update. I have already done the restore on iTunes and selected new phone. When I called 611 I was told that apple would not help me because I had not bought applecare. This is like a car dealership putting bad gas in your new car and demanding you buy a warranty to fix it. Grey strip and bottom of home screen iphone 3g

A grey strip has appeared at the bottom of my screen and covers the dock. There is no response when I touch the screen in this area, but if I access any of my applications or web pages from my screens, the whole screen is usable. When I press the home button to exit the app / web page, the grey strip reappears. The strip looks like (for want of a better description) the foil on an electric razor. Any ideas anyone? I have tried switching the phone off and back on, as well as a soft restore. I am now going to try a full restore thru itunes. iphone 3g iphone OS 3.1.3

Data Connection Issues with iphone 3g

I have my iphone 3g (16GB, black) for 2 years, but only recently I subscribed to a data plan with my mobile provider (Etisalat, UAE).The problem I face is that sometimes the data symbol in the status bar of my iphone 3g is not there, and during this period (of course) I have no data connection, so I cannot connect to the internet, get emails, etc. I may have full signal but no data connection ! (neither 3g, or Edge or GPRS). Wi-fi works perfect always.If I reboot the phone, the symbol appears again; for a limited period only though, and then is lost again, in which case I have to reboot again .....Turning the Airplane Mode on-off, or enabling-disabling 3g will not restore the data connection. Sometimes if I eject the SIM and insert it again the data connection is restored and the symbol is shown again. Only rebooting has 100% success so far in restoring the data connection with the provider (unfortunately for a limited period only).I have the latest software (3.1.3) and carrier settings from Apple.Is it a SIM, hardware or software issue?Any ideas? iphone stuck on Apple logo after numerous "fixes"

Hello everyone. Im hoping you guys/gals have an answer for why my iphone 3g seems to be unresponsive at all after one morning waking up to a white screen. No sounds. No response. I reset the phone and got the apple logo but it cuts out and back on the the same logo or sometimes to a white screen. This becomes a continuous cycle. I so far have tried restoring the iphone. Nothing. DFU mode and restore. Nothing. Hard reset. Nope. Recovery mode. Nada. Hell I have even tried updating the os and nothing happens. The good news from all of this is that itunes recognizes the phone when in dfu mode or in restore mode. But after the restore or dfu mode is complete it just hangs at the apple logo or at a white screen. I appreciate you fine folks taking the time to read this and any and all help/suggestions appreciated. Thank you

Further to my reply to cannot update iphone 3g with new os (which I have included below) I have found another post which showed me the difference between Recovery mode and DFU. Ive tried this but have no idea if I have been following the instructions correctly. I have no idea if the iphone is on or off and the only time its icon disappears from iTunes is when I press both wake/sleep & Home together, but that doesnt really follow the instructions correctly.I just want the latest version, working. Is there a way to try and download the latest version and try again? I cant seem to find that option in iTunes. As Im not sure if Im following the instructions for DFU and what to do afterwards, Im at a lost there as well.Help?Ive having the same problem here and await any help.I am running windows Vista, have the latest iTunes (9.0.3.15), and have just tried to upgrade. I did Sync before trying to upgrade so luckily I havent lost too much, what ever happens in the end.After my original attempt, I was told that there was an error 6 and that I needed to restore (I think, that was several hours ago and I have had further messages after) I pressed restore and a vicious cycle began. To explain, Ive re-started the computer and iTunes. I have plugged in the iphone after the re-start and received a message from iTunes saying that it has detected an iphone in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored. I press Ok and the only option presented by iTunes is restore. I have clicked Ok and restore several times now with the same result. ITunes talks to the iphone, installs Software and Firmware, checks and confirms the installation, says it was successful and that the iphone is shutting down and restarting and not to disconnect from the computer. This is where the iphone shuts down for a little time and iTunes tells me it has detected an iphone in recovery mode and that it will need to be restored, again. From here, the cycle starts again.In addition to this, I have tried manually restarting and resetting the iphone by pressing the Sleep/wake button with no luck and I have attempted to reset by pressing the sleep/wake button and the Home button as per the instructions found here in the support area.Can anyone here help with any suggestions, or where else I can ask for help? iphone

cannot update iphone 3g with new os

i tried to update my iphone 3g to the 3.1.3 os tonight and recieved an error message. on my second attempt, my i phone appears to have no os at all and prompts me to connect to itunes. after connecting to itunes i get a message saying that my phone is in recovery mode and i must restore settings to install the new os which will delete any media stored on my phone. it seemed to attempt to install but never fully does. basically at this point my phone is useless. I tried to update last night and now phone just indicates that I need to connect to iTunes. Tried that and message said I needed to restore. Phone initially connects to computer but stops recognizing connection before restore is complete. Would love to arrange a call to find out what to do, BUT MY PHONE DOESNT WORK!!! Itunes 9.0.3.15Iphone 3g 3.1.3Having recently gone through dealing with my iphone white screening..Screen Replacement fixed that...I decided I would update Itunes and my iphone.I updated the iphone first then Itunes...I then went and syncd the phone. This turns out was not the best idea as my Phone erased all the music and photos and bloated up with 6.66 Gigs of Other...Fearing I had somehow contracted pure evil I quickly ran to the nearest church and reaffirmed my faith...(I might also be Catholic now)Anyway the evil 6.66G of Other will not go away even after trying to restore. hi guys. ive been trying to get pictures off my iphone but my computer isnt recognising my phone. its never happened before.usually it comes up with autoplay asking whether or not i want to open folder to view files, import pictures etc. if not it shows my iphone in my computer but now none of that is happening. although it charges when i plug it in and shows up in itunes and all but i need to get pictures off it and thats the only way. ive tried everything under the sun. all my usb ports, other computers, device manager, played around with autoplay,restoring my phone, everything! i went to the apple store and all they suggested was the restore. somebody please help me! dont know what else to do.cheers guysMessage was edited by: chiara21 toshiba Windows Vista

windows live SMS iphone

I have an iphone 3g, and it used to be able to send and receive SMS messages from windows live. So, if I wasnt on the computer, if someone needed to talk to me through messenger, they could just message my phone. And then for some reason, it stopped working. I dont know why, but I tried to fix it by re registering my phone at windows live and it took me to the Set up SMS for Windows Live section and I had to enter my number, and then it was supposed to send a verification code to my phone - but it didnt. Like I said, it used to work all the time up until a week ago and then it just stopped, so Im not sure why it isnt working anymore =/. I know it wasnt because I added anything new because it was working perfectly one day and then the next day it wasnt working at all. HiI have a 16GB iphone with 02 in the UK.My first iphone with 02 had trouble receiving calls with about 90% of incoming calls going straight to voice mail. I also couldnt backup that phone as every time I tried with iTunes, i got the message Apple mobile device service has stopped working about a minute into backup.This happened continually, I re-installed iTunes so many times, still with little luck. I tried a different cable too. All on a brand new Dell Vostro desktop PC.So, I took the phone back to 02 with these problems. 02 promptly replaced my iphone.Now, I have exactly the same problem. Hi,Yesterday i have upgraded my firmware to 3.1.3.the iphone backed up properly then in the middle of the upgrade i had an error 9.I disconnected the iphone and restarted the computer as recommended and retried.It worked well until i wanted to restore my backup.When i choose restore from backup i select the latest backup and hit restore. The progress bar starts on iTunes then after a couple of bars it dissapears, the iphone dissapears from itunes and i am left with the iphone showing restore in Progress... I was prompted to install updates. That failed, then was prompted to restore, which also failed. rebooted computer and was able to run restore which restored everything except my purchased audiobook. any suggestions? iphone iphone OS 3.1.3 I have no idea what OS my iphone is!

iTunes doesnt start automatically anymore after failed iphone update 3g

So, the other day, I tried to download the newest update for my iphone, and it failed for some odd reason, which left my iTunes all messed up, and my iphone stuck at a screen. I reinstalled iTunes, fixing the screwed up iTunes, but my iphone was stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. As a result, I did the emergency restore on a different computer, and now my iphone works okay. But Ive noticed now, that when I plug my iphone in, iTunes doesnt start automatically anymore, I have to manually click on iTunes (not that this is a big deal or anything, but it would be nice to get this fixed). So, is there any setting or solution I can use to try to fix this? PC Windows XP

iTune9 crashes Vista 64 bit iphone 3g

I bought a new iphone and i installed latest itunes version(9.0.3) for 64bit Windows, in my laptop.Operating system is Windows Vista 64 bit.. It installed successfully..But it never detects the iphone..I called the technical support; they tried many options..reinstalled it..But it never detects the iphone..finally they asked me to use system restore..and when i try it, it crashes my Operating system..I got Blue screen...Then it took around 4 hours for me to recover my operating system..!I looked for forums and it seems iTunes is not at all successful in any versions for Vista 64 bit operating system...This is the first product i got from apple, and unfortunately i have problems with it..When will apple give a bug-free software that can be used with Vista-64 bit?any idea?? Slide to Unlock doesnt work during Incomming Calls iphone 3g

I am having a very unusual problem in my iphone. sometimes I cannot Slide to Unlock the phone when I get a call. This doesnt happen always.I have to wait and press it really hard to Slide it to unlock. That too is not guaranteed to work 100 %. Once it gets unlocked then everything starts to work as normal.Have tried hard-restarting , Did a clean restore with no apps. I have also noticed that it happens frequently when it is in my pocket.I have also tried removing the screen protectors but doesnt help much. I even went to Apple store and they told that it might be due to a loose connections between the connectors. They did removed and put back the connectors but still it doesnt seems to work.It really annoys if you miss the call and have to call back again.. especially if that is an International number.I cannot prove it to Apple that there is a problem with the phone , and cannot even get a replacementGuys , please HELP!! iphone 3GS iphone OS 3.1.2 Slide to Unlock doesnt work

I have to guess at the OS, as the phone no longer works after the latest OS update.Performed an online update on Friday night (2/6), process halted midway, froze. Indicated full restore necessary. Attempted to restore, repeatedly. No luck. When I plug in, displays indicates it wants to connect to iTunes, but nothing happens.Phone is toast. Stuck in recovery mode iphone

I tried jailbreaking my new iphone 3GS 32g with firmware 3.1.2 (05.11.07) with blackra1n.During jailbreaking my iphone was stuck in recovery mode. I was trying many times to restart blackra1n. And also I did try to restore with iTunes to 3.1.2 ,it's giving me every time the same message "This device isn't eligible for the requested build". So i stuck I recovery mode. Can u help me please, what I shoul do?

Ok funny topic name, but this is wierd. Im not sure if this has anything to do with the 3.1.3 update, but it did happen to coincide.It seems my buttons now have a mind of their own. I will be typing a text or email and the slide to power off screen will appear. I can click cnacel and go back to what I was doing and it will go right back to that screen. I can leave the phone alone for a while and it will work fine for a few minutes. The speak seems to turn itself wide open. I can turn it back down and it will automatically go back to full power. But wait, thats not all.......It will also get stuck in these loops of rebooting with the apple logo on the screen appearing and then the screen will go blank. So all the buttons are no activating themselves? All of the issues seem to be with every external button and not the touch screen.I tried a restore, which completed successfully but that didnt help. 3g iphone Malfunctioning following upgrade from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 soft. ver.

A couple of days ago upgraded my 3G16GB iphone from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 soft. Ver.Since then can’t download photographs from iphone to my PCs using Windows Scanner & Camera and/or Windows Explorer utilities. In both cases the Win XP doesn’t recognise the device, but once it does get the following announcement “ The imaging device is busy, or may be in use by another application. You may cancel, or continue to wait for the device to become available.” After some ten minutes get the message “ The device could not be reached” or “The Properties for this item are not available”Have tried, at least ten times to perform the restore operation both as a new device as well as using my last backup – NADA ! No apparent hardware problems or conflicts reported by OS everything seems to be in perfect functioning order.Any thoughts, ideas or advises? Sony VAIO Windows XP Pro

Cannot transfer movies to phone after restore iphone 3g

I ran a sync, then a restore on my iphone, then re-synced, and none of my apps synced (they all disappeared). Now when I try to sync my Owned and Rented movies I get an error saying it cannot copy the movies because it has already been transferred to another computer or deviceWell, thats wrong, it was synced to my iphone before I ran the restore, and now I tunes doesnt recognize that my phone is the one that everything was transferred to before.How do I fix this?
