iphone wont turn on whit itunes
okay,itunes wants restore my iphone,but it doesen`t work.I can not do anything other than press the restore button! What should I do??help! windows Windows 7

Hi guys, Ive been following http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313 to try and downgrade my iphone to 3.1.3. It is currently running on iOS 4.01. Facetime Waiting for Activation Issue When switching S cards iphone 4
I have an unlocked iphone 4 from the UK. I first had an Orange France SIM card installed and all went well... Facetime was working fine. However, when I came to Dubai I inserted my local (Etisalat) SIM. The phone was functioning ok, except for Facetime. When I tried to switch it on from Settings, it kept saying Waiting for Activation.I am an advanced user. So, all basic things are checked: WiFi, Tried to reboot phone, tried hard reset, even tried Total restore, tried different WiFi network, SMS working, MMS working, 3G working...etc. I even tried the solution on Apples site (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4246).... Still no luck.Few things to note:1) I have a friend who has iphone 4 on the same Etisalat network, and his Facetime works fine. The only difference is that Etisalat was the first SIM he put in.2) I tried to switch back to my Orange SIM while still in Dubai, and at first, Facetime showed Waiting for Activation, BUT when I rebooted, it was active and working fine... tried to insert the Etisalat SIM after that... and back to waiting for activation issue.3) Did same above with my AT&T SIM ... and got same result as with Orange France SIM4) Tried to call 888-facetime and they just referred me to the case referenced above, and the simple answer that your carrier may not support it! Thanks!!! I told the guy I know someone on the same network working on Facetime.I think the problem is that Facetime needs to be re-registered from the Orange # to the Etisalat # and for some reason that is not happening smoothly to the Etisalat #... Weird SMS bug iphone 4
Here is the weird glitch...first enable SMS character count. When I am typing a text I tried to send my friend the word limon (with the accented o) but the character count goes from n/160 to n/70 (n being the number of characters) and then he never receives my text. I also notice this problem doesnt occur when just typing the accented o by itself, only when I made the word limon. I was unable to repeat this on my old 3G, so I dont know if its an iphone 4 problem or just me. Not in the mood for a restore. iOS 4.0.2 iphone 4 iOS 4 32GB
iphone 3G w iOS4 stuck in Recovery Mode
Hi, I was in the process of updating my iphone software when my PC rebooted. I think it was doing an automatic Microsoft update. Anyway, my iphone is stuck in Recovery Mode. Any time I attach it to the computer it opens iTunes but comes up with the message iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. iphone stuck in emergency mode after downgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.0?Upgraded to 4.0.2 last night. Immediately, itunes would no longer detect my iphone. Decided I had to downgrade back to 4.0 again. Learned I cannot do that easily, so i found a .ipsw file of firmware 4.0 online, and downloaded it. Started up my iphone attached to itunes in restore mode, held down shift, and clicked restore button. Successfully restored the 4.0 file I had downloaded.At the first boot, it was stuck in emergency mode. I even tried to restore the default itunes backup after that, it was still stuck in emergency mode.Anyone know how i fix this iphone? I have no interest in jailbreaks, i am in a 2 year contract with AT&T. 3G iOS 4

I made the mistake of taking my iphone 3G fly fishing and it died after getting splashed. It was running 4.0.2. I followed the usual recommendations including opening the phone and gently warming it with a air gun on low. There was no apparent moisture inside the phone. While it was open I decided to replace the battery for good measure. Now it is stuck in the Apple logo even after what appeared to be a successful restore with iTunes on a Mac. Got same result after attempting restore on a PC. There were no error messages during the process - just the progress bar across the iphone and a reboot wherein it remains in the logo loop. I assume something died as a result from the dunking but its strange that it will connect to iTunes and go through the restore cycle. I toyed around with trying to downgrade to 3.1.1 but not sure that will yield any better results. Any suggestions on other things to try or is it toast?Thanks MacBook Air Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Besides having to install/restore on another computer before I could actually do anything... Ive now FINALLY got my iphone 3G working again BUT I dont have any of the new features that come with the iOS4 update except for the folders feature. How can I fix bricked iphone 4
My friend jailbroke her iphone 4 and tried to delete an app she downloaded and then the phone went crazy. The screen shows the Apple logo, then goes blank and the Apple logo appears again. Sometimes it shows the battery screen with a thin red line but its been plug to the computer all day, it hasnt charge. I tried to restore it but couldnt. It started downloading iOS 4.0.2 but then iTunes didnt do nothing. Now I plug in the iphone to the computer and it doesnt even show up on iTunes. What can I do besides call Apple? So I go my iphone 4 in the morning on Saturday and as it was activated at the store, I didnt need to sync with the PC until I got home. But during the day, I was out with my 15mo. old son at a petting zoo and had a great time taking pics/videos with my new phone. The next day, I connected the phone up to the PC for the first time and it asked me to restore or setup as a new phone and, I didnt think of getting the pics off the phone first, I clicked on restore and DAMMIT it deleted the new pics!!!! How to completly restore iphone 4
After help from another thread, in order to try and fix my battery draining issue after applying the 4.0.2 update, I first tried to restore from back up (did not help my issue) then restore as new phone (seemed to have helped, but not 100%). My question is, when I did the restore and clicked on as a new phone that second time, my software version was still 4.0.2. The whole point of me wanting to completly wipe it clean was to see if I could reintall 4.0.2 from 4.0.1 (which is what mine came with) to see if that would put it back to normal from when I bought it. I am still draining 1% every 2-3 minutes on the internet which is quicker then before I did the update. Thanks for your help in advance.

I have updated my iphone 4 to 4.0.2 with no problems. I then tried to do the same with my wifes iphone 4 and thats when I hit snags!After performing part of the update there was a message stating that there was a problem and that I needed to restore the iphone. I hit restore but when it got to installing the firmware up popped a message stating: The iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).I have re-started my iMac twice but it hasnt helped.Any ideas? Want to give my friend my old iphone 3G. She currently has a different smartphone but is on ATT. She has fulfilled her current contract so shes just on month to month. She has unlimited texting and data with her current plan. Looks like her SIM card will fit into my old iphone 3G. Will she be requited to sign up for new iphone specific text and data plans or be able to keep what shes got now? Word of warning, the latest update has wiped my entire phone, and the restore option hasnt restored anything. So my 3g iphone was not working right so i went to the store and got a new one from my warrenty. i have had the new ohone for about a month. Today i hooked it to my computer to sync and it said i needed to download a update. my daughter unplugged it so it said now i had to restore it. now 7 hours later i am still waiting for it to restore. Regular Hotspots Wifi weasy PW shows connection but wont connect anymore iphone 4
I must be the only idiot at my two regular hotspot cafes that cant connect to their Wifi. At first I thought that perhaps their systems were down, and I would ask them (reluctantly) to reboot their routers. Thereupon, their owners would use their Non iphone smartphones and indicate to me that their Wifi on their phones was working. Nothing else has changed on their systems ie passwords and type of router. My Wifi icon shows connected , as well as Network settings shows checkmark. Neither of the two hotspots are the kind that bring up a signup web page. I dont really want to do a Network reset, because basically , that was done when I set up the IP4 the first time, even though I did restore from a backup,but has to put in new network settings.When I go to the Apple store, of course, I am able to get their Wifi connection, so they probably wouldnt bother doing a hardware test upon seeing that I have a connection there. My wifi connection WPA at my House is fine. If I set up a Genius appointment, what kind of a hardware check would they do?After all these forums I have read, I sort of believe that the Wifi chip has to undergo some future firmware update to address some incompatibilities with certain routers/setups. iMac 2.4ghz Intel Based 24 inch Mac OS X (10.6.4) iphone 3G S 4.0
Apple mobile device installed successfully on computer but will not show up iphone 3G
I have been working with Apple for a week now and no one can get my iphone to recognize in itunes. I am getting the same message several people are getting that the iphone was not recognized please install the the correct program. to make a long story short, Apple mobile device is the problem. I can see it in the folder of downloads and it downloads successfully but it wont show up anywere on my hardrive. i cant see it when i go to uninstall a program or under device manager and the same errror message comes up wheen i plug my phone in. the lastest apple tech said i am going to have to either restore my compute to factory settings or buy a new computer. How I solved my iphone 3G IOS 4 issues
The main problem with my own iphone 3G after the upgrade to IOS 4 was constant black screen freezing (at least five times per day if not more) and a little bit of a lag when running apps. These are the things I tried:Providing enough space on the hard drive (3GB spare) - Didn’t work.Turned off wifi - Didn’t work.Turned off location services - Didn’t work.Turned off Bluetooth - Didn’t work.Turned off all Push Data - Didn’t work.Full restore - Didn’t work.Full restore on brand new account followed by another restore on my account - Didn’t work.Using a ‘memory free-up’ App - Had a marginal effect on the lag but didn’t stop the freezing up.Turned off all spotlight options - Didn’t work.I contacted Apple twice throughout this process. The first one told me to download the firmware for 3.1.3 from a third party website and restore using this. I tried it but got caught in the loop on recovery mode insisting that I upgrade to 4.0.1 before I can exit recovery.I contacted Apple again to ask them how to get out of recovery after downgrading to 3.1.3 and they basically told me that I should never have been told to do this and the only way out of recovery is to upgrade to 4.0.1. I think my previous advisor got into a bit of trouble for that one.I told them their upgrade had basically broken my phone and that it was becoming as good as useless, bearing in mind I’d had no problems with it when running 3.1.3. They refused to accept that IOS 4 was the problem as it had been ‘thoroughly tested’. They told me to try restoring it on a new account, then going back to my own. Something about corrupt files. Still didnt work.Anyway, I was reluctant to use a third party program to ‘force exit’ my phone from recovery but in the end Apple gave me no choice and the freezing up was becoming intolerable.I bit the bullet at five days ago, downgraded to 3.1.3, used a program to help me exit recovery and that was that. My phone is now back on 3.1.3 and working fine again.How many freeze ups since the downgrade? Zero, and no lagging either.How many freeze ups when running on 4.0? Just got my new iphone 4. First thing i tried to do after inserting sim card is to connect it to my computer and itunes. Tells me i cant connect to this computer. then there was an option to restore settings and start over. So i do that, it says it can not complete until i restore the phone sttings and now the phone has crashed. The screen has a pic of the apple icon with a waiting bar. iphone 4 breaking on every update
I got got my iphone 4 on day 1 and since then have dutifully updated to each minor OS revision as released by Apple.The problem is that every time I do, my iphone completes shafts itself. It syncs and shows in iTunes as if all is well, but the screen just shows the Apple logo with the spinner (not spinning) over the top and beeps away to itself.This has happened for 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 - I am expecting the same issues for 4.1 when it comes out.I am currently waiting for my 2nd restore of the day to try and get it working.Is there a known issue, or have I got a dodgy phone?Cheers iphone 4 iOS 4

Unexpected shut down via low battery not really low battery iphone 3G
Running version 3.1.3, take a picture with the camera, open safari, open a picture in a email, etc. sometimes the phone just shuts down. Battery will be 90%-100%, however immediately shows a low battery and will turn off. Hook up to either a wall charger or via computer USB and the battery returns to 90%-100%. Hard resets, restore, etc. all have no effect. Sent the phone in for a Battery replacement to apple, they returned the phone with out replacing the battery and indicated that the battery was fine and they could not duplicate the problem. Hi, As it says in the title I updated my iphone 3g (which was legally purchased and never jailbroken, at the mac store in Russia when I lived there).My school gave us new macs a few days ago and I set the computer to my itunes account. I downloaded the new 4.0.2 and I have the itunes logo and connect to itunes....itunes says this iphone is damaged contact your local mac store. I now live in China so they will not work on any iphones purchased outside of China.....how can I fix my phone, I have forced a restore and deleted files and tried logging in as a different user etc...but no luck. Trying to update to 4.0.2 but I got an error and now my iphone crashed. All I see is the usb cord pointing to the iTunes logo. Restarting the phone didnt work. Looks like my only option is to restore, which will delete all my stuff. Im surprised Im forced to restore because the update failed. Cmon Apple, its 2010. Any help is appreciated.

I am having some difficulty with an iphone that I got recently. Its a hand-me-down phone, so Im not complaining too loudly. But it was upgraded to the 4.0 firmware, and its getting all of the classic problems (freezing, dying, terrible battery life, etc). Is there any way to fix the problems without having to retrograde it to 3.1.3, or would that be my only option.As a follow-up question, in case work-arounds are impossible, how do I go about restoring my iphone to a previous version when the put phone in restore mode by holding the Home and Lock keys while connected to the computer and iTunes is closed fails to work because it cant connect to the server? Hey thereI am running a iphone 3G on iOS 4.0 and using a windows machine. I have iTunes 9.2.1I have been trying for the last hour to sync a video onto my iphone. All the boxes are checked in the iphone menu to sync films, music videos podcasts and TV programs. The movie i want to sync is checked in iTunes and plays in iTunes. it is in mp4 format and there is plently of space on my iphone. I have previously put movies and podcasts on my iphone with no problems I have googled this issue and tried all the solutions i found which are:Changing the media type to TV program or filmChecking Manually manage music and videos and dragging video across.. nothing happened when i dragged movie overHighlighting the movie and clicking Change to iphone iPod version from Advanced menu. which might work if it ddnt cause iTunes to crash every single timeUnsyncing all movies by unchecking the boxes.. which resulted in all movies off my iphone which i am now unable to sync backI have uninstalled itunes and reinstalledI REALLY dont want to restore my iphone so this is last resort. i shuldnt have to restore every time i want to put a new video on my phone!!This seems to be a wide scale issue and i think apple should sort it out!!! hi guys lll try to make this simple it gets a bit complicated, bought an iphone 3g from the usa it came without original at&t sim card,so l couldnt restore to factory settings it kept failing, so l bought an unactivated pay as you go at&t sim card and it did the restore and synced with itunes very easily, it nows says its waiting for activation this may take some time its been doing this for hours but lve noticed it says in the top left corner of the screen no service is this ok and should it take this long to activate. lm obviously wanting to jailbreak this so l can use my o2 sim but lm finding it extremely frustrating , l may be doing things wrong, lve restored and jailbroke a few times but no luck as yet, thankskevin hp pavillion Windows XP
Help 3G bricked after software upgrade iphone
I have a 3G 16GB which I updated to the newest OS release today (after being asked by iTunes). Now the phone is kind of bricked showing changing/moving grey lines on a white background whenever started. I have put the phone in recovery mode with success and iTunes then asks me to restore the phone which however fails with an error 1611. Same result on multiple attempts. Hi,Sorry if this has been covered in other posts....I searched but couldnt find the exact answers I was after. I have recently upgraded to an iphone 4 and Im selling my 3G. I restored the unit from within the phone settings as I didnt want to upgrade it to iOS4. I had previously unlocked the phone through the carrier legitimately. As it currently stands the phone now requires connection to itunes and an active Sim card to activate the unit (just how I wanted it). The questions I have are:1) What firmware will the phone now have? Would it have restored it back to the original firmware provided with the phone, or will it still have 3.1.3 that was on the phone before restore?2) Will the phone still be unlocked after the restore?Thanks in advance for any help! hi everyone, i tried yesterday to update my phone with the new software, whilst in the process it froze. i decided to unplug it from my computer and my phone stayed frozen. i then put my phone in recovery some how lol. i went to restore my phone and this also kept freezing. i then deleted itunes and re installed it now its saying i cant restore at bthis time and need to try later. i have tried every trick on the net for rebooting my phone and nothing is working. the screen just stays on a cd with itunes and a usb cable. my phone is stuffed and i really dont want to loose everything off it as i have pics of my newborn baby on there. i cant speak to anyone as all my contacts are on my phone. help help please.vickie iphone OS 3.1.3

Computer Reset to Factory Settings-iphone in Limbo 3G
I have always synced my iphone 3G to my Macbook and made a backup on an external hard drive around a year ago. Since that I have added so much stuff and my iphone is full with photos, apps and music. Unrelated to my iphone, my Macbook got a blue screen of death and I had no choice but to restore it back to factory mode. Obviously if I now plug in my iphone it will be completely wiped of all information. What can I do? Is there anyway to get the information (music, photos etc) from my iphone back onto my mac? When I control + click, restore from back up.. on my iphone from the device list in itunes, it just lists a backup from earlier this year, another from Aug. 2009, and a couple from today. I used time machine to back up my macbook 3 days ago. Is there a way to go into time machine and get the back up file(s) from the last time I backed up my iphone around that time?Thanks in advance.
