My iphone was stuck in the recovery mode, when I tried to restore it got an unknown error occured (1611)and still on the same recovery screen (that is with itunes and usb cable) Any help is appreciated

Phone wont ring iphone 3g

Hi - I recently had my iphone replaced and the ringer wont work, it only vibrate. The switch on the top left is pushed forward (therefore no orange dot showing). I can hear the sample ring tones when I go into settings and all my other settings seem to be fine. Also, somewhat odd, when I turn the switch on the top left side of the phone to vibrate just to see what happens it goes on silent even though my phone settings have it to vibrate when it is on silent. I have tried to restore the phone, restore the settings etc. Anyone have any guesses?? I was hoping to not have to go in again to the genius bar. Thanks! 3g

I have an iphone in front of me which is stuck in restore mode. I plug it into iTunes, choose restore, choose a firmware (3.1.2) and begin the restore process. I get the following message:The iphone iphone could not be restored. Ive tried using a different user account - no luck. How to we retrieve Notes iphone 3g

This is a little complicated, so I hope I can explain it clearly. My husband has a 3g iphone. A few weeks ago, he bought a new MacBookPro. At first, all was well, but suddenly, all of his notes disappeared on his phone. Heres what I think happened. On his old Mac laptop he was using Netscape mail. On his new laptop, we set him up in Mac Mail. About a week ago, we were looking for some preferences in iTunes, and I think that is when we checkmarked the notes feature. I think that the notes tried to sync to the old mail, didnt find them, and put them in limbo somewhere. In the meantime, he didnt realize this happened, and continued to add contacts and dates to his busy calendar. I believe if there were a Notes file somewhere, we might be able to retrieve it from the Time Capsule. We dont want to restore the phone because A) he would lose all the new info, B) we are unsure when the loss occurred. We did find 2/3 of his notes that were on his old phone. How do we get them into his iphone? Im unsure how we did this at first, or maybe it happened automatically. He does not want them in his mail, he wants them on his phone. We do have MobileMe, but he hasnt set it up yet. Perhaps we could take the old notes, upload them to MobileMe somehow and that would put them on his phone?Or do we need to by an ap such as Notebooks? iphone 3Gs White Screen After Dropping

Hello, I was wondering what to do? Recently, I dropped my iphone on the ground and the screen turned white. I cannot restore it, nor turn it off. Although i have gotten so used to it that i know a lot of tuff and decided to click the ipod button, or at least where it is supposed to be. i randomly started clicking and music started playing. Same thing hen my friend called me. It works. You can hear the sounds and you can still go on apps. But your screen will still stay white. What should I do? Windows XP Pro

White screen crash because of free Photoshop app iphone 3g

I keep experiencing white screen crash roughly 6 or 7 times a day and to be honest Im sick of it!!I did a system restore, so my iphone was restored to factory settings, effectively wiping everything of the memory. Apart from the images I had taken and the images I used for editing my photos in the free photoshop app. I am wondering if anyone else has discovered this app as being as issue related to crashes? Also I have now removed these photos and all photos from my iphone. So according to everyones suggestion to avoiding white screen crash, I should not experience it as often as I am. Cannot update OS from itunes iphone 3g

Ihave reinstalled itunes on a new laptop and ever since the update my software and restore buttons on version 9 of itunes are greyed out. I have internet connection and downloading regularly songs etc from itunes. my iphone is recognised and syncs to itunes but i am on software 2.2.1 and cannot for the life of me figure out why itunes will not give me the option to update this.... Just when I thought the phone had fully recovered from the not waking problem I had to live with for a month last year. It appears that the latest update has once again brought the problem back!!!Is there any way to backup and restore my phone favs, txt msgs and data in a way I can get tme back after doing a reinstall? Update and Backup iphone 3g

I am trying to update my iphone to 3.1.3 and when it goes to backup it the backup stops at about 90% i saw one person say to delete the old back up but that cant be the problem because this is the first time the phone has been connected to this computer. I was also wondering how to retrieve all of my purchased music if my old computer got wiped and i end up having to restore this phone. Any suggestions? asus g72gx Windows 7

Hi folks, I have a 3g, on 3.1.3. I have spent a few hours trying to get internet tethering to work. Support for my provider (O2 Ireland) was apparently added in the latest operator settings upgrade. I have a laptop with Windows 7 installed.To cut a long story short, I didnt get it to work, and now the Internet Tethering menu option has disappeared from settings. Will not turn on or register with itunes for retore iphone 3g

My phone was completely charge and suddenly when black, It now will not turn on, I get the apple logo for about 15 seconds and then black, I cant reset it, I then when to try and restore it in iTunes and it does register PLEASE HELP!!

iphone 3g NO SOUND

This is very strange. My iphone stopped making sounds thru the internal speaker, however, if I plug a charger into the dock connecter, the sound works just fine thru the internal speakers- it doesnt matter if the charger is plugged in or not, its like the chargers male parts turn on my phones female parts. Before I discovered this, the geniuses at the genius bar told me that my speaker was blown- not true! Is this some kind of a bug?? Will it be fixed w/ an update? Im thinking my phone is confused on whether to act as if headphones r plugged in or not. iphone BrickedWill not move past first apple logo screen 3g

Before I explain, please do not reply telling me to hold my home button and power button for 15 seconds because everyone knows that.About 3 hours ago, my iphone froze up and turned off by itself. Everytime I turn it on, it will stay at the apple logo then turn off. I am completely aware that I can easily fix this by doing a restore. The main problem is though, is that I have many important pictures, notes, and texts on my phone which I DO not want to lose by doing a restore.My iphone 3g is not jailbroken.I would simply like to be told a way to unbrick my iphone 3g without restoring through iTunes. Im currently using an old Sony flip phone, and am very agitated at this point.I would really appreciate some help.Thank you.P.S. Seems to be bad update iphone 3g

Hopefully some people check these forums regularly, which I will surely start to do. Seems to be a bug in the new update - I suggest not letting your iphone battery run out, or hope you never need to reset. I had to restore, and Im sure Ive not only lost data in my apps (daily planner!! argh) but photos of my newborn baby smiling (very rare, double argh!!!) Just make sure you sync/ backup daily!! and dont forget to independently backup your app data iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi, I brought a 3GS last year from a Vodafone store outright, since I was on the 3 network at the time I got it unlocked and away I went, I went back to Vodafone this year but now it will not work with the Vodafone sim card. The message I get from iTunes is below:The sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. Please insert the sim card that came with your iphone or visit a supported carriers store to receive a replacement sim card.When I got it unlocked from Vodafone the first time I connected to iTunes and it said you have carrier updates to download so that is what unlocked it, I assumed 3 had locked it with the update but I rang and they said under no circumstances it gets locked again, I went back to the Vodafone store and they tried another sim card and the same deal, I went home and did a restore and still have the same issue. 3 said if the restore doesnt work contact Vodafone, Vodafone says contact 3.By the way my farther has the same issue with his iphone 3GS. Hey people. Just wondering if anyone can help me regarding a problem I have with my iphone 3g. When trying to use it earlier I noticed it wasnt responding whatsoever, not even resetting or rebooting what not, so I couldnt restore it. I then followed some advice and put it in DFU mode, which enabled my phone to connect with iTunes and began to restore. Volume Vibrate Wonky 3.1.3 update iphone 3g

Hello. I currently have an iphone 3g. It has been fully submerged in water once. Thankfully, after the rice trick, I successfully managed to salvage my iphone. It works completely fine. Still, to this day, I am amazed. Until I updated to Update 3.1.3. Then, things got really wonky. For instance, I would feel the iphone vibrate go off. The switch was not on, it showed no orange dot. So, after that, I went home, got the thing out of my pocket, and now, the freak show started. I took it out of my pocket, and then on the home screen, It was rapidly switching back and forth from the silent mode to the ringer on mode. I didnt touch the switch at all. I am not one of those people who plays with it all the time, switching it on and off. Still, I did submerge it in water, so I hard-resetted it, didnt turn it back on, and took it apart. Nothing seemed wrong with the internals. I put it back together and booted it, normal boot, nothing fancy. So that problem seems to be fixed. Then, the volume rocker started having the same problem, but it stopped. So both buttons worked until now, which it wont go down in volume. I had just hard rebooted again, and it still has the same problem. Booted, Volume went way down, put it in sleep, unlocked it again, same thing. Please give me some advice. Even if you dont have an exact solution, anything is welcome. At least if you have the problem post that you have the problem. Is it the hardware? Is it the software? unknown error 1603 when trying to restore my iphone 3g in itunes-help

hello everyone - any help on the following issue would be greatly appreciated!just updated to latest version of i tunes on my PC, synced all my new music etc, then phone just got stuck on the black screen with the small apple logo in the middle. phone (iphone 3g) wont turn on and just has the signal to connect to itunes. so i connect to itunes and it says iphone is in recovery mode - must restore phone to use, so i do that but it keeps getting stuck on the preparing to restore i phone screen for a few mins before coming up with unknown error 1603.anyone else had this problem?anyone know if i can log into i tunes on a different computer and try to restore it?if problem persists do i go to o2 shop where i bought it, or apple shop to sort it?? iphone 3g 3.1.2 iphone wont turn on diff to normal

Hi phone wont turn on.iphone wont turn on or off.. HOWEVER.. if I plug into the wall charger (and note ONLY the wall charger) it will go to the apple logo (and eventualy turn off) I can also (only when connected to wall charger) make it go into restore mode... but the moment i take out the USB/dock cable the phone turns off... anoying...Ive tried the cable on iphones/ipods and it works.. also tried the cable plugged into my computer my macbook my ps3 and skyHD box.. and none will make it do anything just the wall charger.(note it doesnt say its charging aswell when its plugged into wall)Ive replaced the battery of the phone and still no dice.. infact i replaced the WHOLE back assembly of the phone and still nothing!any advice would be handy.. but I believe ive done everything possibleincluding hard reset, soft reset DFU mode etc etc... but cant do anything unless its plugged into wall charger (if it was in computer i could atleast restore it and see what happensalso note. the water damage connecters are fine.I still think it means a logic board swap but cant for the life of me think why. iphone OS 3.1.2 Watercooling powered.

iphone wont charge via USB

I have a brand new iphone (2 days old). I also have a PC running Windows XP with the latest version of iTunes installed. Yesterday, when I received my phone I was able to connect to my PC successfully and Sync and charge my phone via a standard USB port.As part of this process my phone was upgraded to the latest version of iphone O/sToday, for some inexplicable reason, I can sync but I cannot recharge my phone. Whenever I connect I get a message along the lines Charging is not supported with this accessory.FYI: (1) I am using a brand new Apple supplied USB cable. (2) I was using the same USB port as I did yesterday. (3) My phone wont recharge on any of the other 6 USB ports on my PC either.(4) All these USB ports are working correctly with other USB devices.(5) I have done a hard reboot of my iphone(6) I have done a backup/reset/restore using iTunes and still no joy.The only idea I have is that I was using a slightly older version of the iphone O/s when I first connected and now I am running a later version which, maybe, has some software glitch in relation to recharging ???Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated. iphone iphone OS 3.1.3

iphone wont connect to 3g network

A couple of days ago i notice that my phone was only using the GPRS connection and not the 3g connection. I thought it was maybe no 3g reception where i was but yesterday i was with a friend who has the same 3g iphone and on the same network (Optus - Australia) and his had a perfect 3g connection and mine was still on GPRS.I have tried restarting iphone, turning Airplane mode on then off, turning 3g enable off then back on, resetting iphone (holding down power and home buttons until phone shuts down), using iTunes to restore iphone, removing sim card and re-inserting.Dont know what else to try??? iphone 3g 16G iphone OS 3.1.3

3g network Issues in Washington DC iphone

FYI - my iphone is repeatedly giving the Call Failed notification when i am calling in 3g mode, so i called the mother ship. AT&T is working on their 3g network here until this afternoon (Wed, 02/17/10), so its not the phone. Switching off 3g is the easy work around (settings/general/network). Botched Update iphone 3g

Im having trouble since I attempted to update my firmware. The updater said that there was an error, and now I cant get access to my backed up files. Ive lost everything: contacts, photographs, and settings. When I try to restore from backup, it just offers me the option of some weird backup called unknown. After 3.1.3 upgrade voice mail alert window wants new password iphone

Since my 3.1.3 upgrade I have several problems but this is the worst. Alert window comes on all the time demanding new voicemail password. I have never changed my password and everything worked great until update. I have already done the restore on iTunes and selected new phone. When I called 611 I was told that apple would not help me because I had not bought applecare. This is like a car dealership putting bad gas in your new car and demanding you buy a warranty to fix it. Grey strip and bottom of home screen iphone 3g

A grey strip has appeared at the bottom of my screen and covers the dock. There is no response when I touch the screen in this area, but if I access any of my applications or web pages from my screens, the whole screen is usable. When I press the home button to exit the app / web page, the grey strip reappears. The strip looks like (for want of a better description) the foil on an electric razor. Any ideas anyone? Data Connection Issues with iphone 3g

I have my iphone 3g (16GB, black) for 2 years, but only recently I subscribed to a data plan with my mobile provider (Etisalat, UAE).The problem I face is that sometimes the data symbol in the status bar of my iphone 3g is not there, and during this period (of course) I have no data connection, so I cannot connect to the internet, get emails, etc. I may have full signal but no data connection ! (neither 3g, or Edge or GPRS). Wi-fi works perfect always.If I reboot the phone, the symbol appears again; for a limited period only though, and then is lost again, in which case I have to reboot again .....Turning the Airplane Mode on-off, or enabling-disabling 3g will not restore the data connection. Sometimes if I eject the SIM and insert it again the data connection is restored and the symbol is shown again. Only rebooting has 100% success so far in restoring the data connection with the provider (unfortunately for a limited period only).I have the latest software (3.1.3) and carrier settings from Apple.Is it a SIM, hardware or software issue?Any ideas? iphone stuck on Apple logo after numerous "fixes"

Hello everyone. Im hoping you guys/gals have an answer for why my iphone 3g seems to be unresponsive at all after one morning waking up to a white screen. No sounds. No response. I reset the phone and got the apple logo but it cuts out and back on the the same logo or sometimes to a white screen. This becomes a continuous cycle. I so far have tried restoring the iphone. Nothing. DFU mode and restore. Nothing. Hard reset. Nope. Recovery mode. Nada. Hell I have even tried updating the os and nothing happens. The good news from all of this is that itunes recognizes the phone when in dfu mode or in restore mode. But after the restore or dfu mode is complete it just hangs at the apple logo or at a white screen. I appreciate you fine folks taking the time to read this and any and all help/suggestions appreciated. Thank you

Further to my reply to cannot update iphone 3g with new os (which I have included below) I have found another post which showed me the difference between Recovery mode and DFU. Ive tried this but have no idea if I have been following the instructions correctly. I have no idea if the iphone is on or off and the only time its icon disappears from iTunes is when I press both wake/sleep & Home together, but that doesnt really follow the instructions correctly.I just want the latest version, working. Is there a way to try and download the latest version and try again? I cant seem to find that option in iTunes. As Im not sure if Im following the instructions for DFU and what to do afterwards, Im at a lost there as well.Help?Ive having the same problem here and await any help.I am running windows Vista, have the latest iTunes (9.0.3.15), and have just tried to upgrade. I did Sync before trying to upgrade so luckily I havent lost too much, what ever happens in the end.After my original attempt, I was told that there was an error 6 and that I needed to restore (I think, that was several hours ago and I have had further messages after) I pressed restore and a vicious cycle began. To explain, Ive re-started the computer and iTunes. I have plugged in the iphone after the re-start and received a message from iTunes saying that it has detected an iphone in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored. I press Ok and the only option presented by iTunes is restore. I have clicked Ok and restore several times now with the same result. ITunes talks to the iphone, installs Software and Firmware, checks and confirms the installation, says it was successful and that the iphone is shutting down and restarting and not to disconnect from the computer. This is where the iphone shuts down for a little time and iTunes tells me it has detected an iphone in recovery mode and that it will need to be restored, again. From here, the cycle starts again.In addition to this, I have tried manually restarting and resetting the iphone by pressing the Sleep/wake button with no luck and I have attempted to reset by pressing the sleep/wake button and the Home button as per the instructions found here in the support area.Can anyone here help with any suggestions, or where else I can ask for help? iphone

cannot update iphone 3g with new os

i tried to update my iphone 3g to the 3.1.3 os tonight and recieved an error message. on my second attempt, my i phone appears to have no os at all and prompts me to connect to itunes. after connecting to itunes i get a message saying that my phone is in recovery mode and i must restore settings to install the new os which will delete any media stored on my phone. it seemed to attempt to install but never fully does. basically at this point my phone is useless. I have tried to update on two different computers...first on my macbook osx and then on a desktop running window xp. i have exhausted all the options i can think of to fix the problem. any advise would be greatly appreiciated. Dead after trying to update iphone 3g

I tried to update last night and now phone just indicates that I need to connect to iTunes. Tried that and message said I needed to restore. Phone initially connects to computer but stops recognizing connection before restore is complete. Would love to arrange a call to find out what to do, BUT MY PHONE DOESNT WORK!!! Live chat with customer service would be great. In looking at the board there seem to be a number of problems with this update. Any additional suggestions for my problem? 3g iphone OS 3.1.3

I have some problem with my iphone 3g 3.1.2.When i dont use my iphone his diplay is off(when i lock my iphone) after 30 secs display just turn on and after 5 secs display go off, everything works but my battery is low becouse of that :SLike every 30 secs my phone is blinking, and after 5 secs it is normal, and again after 30 secs..How can i fix that, i tryed with restore and without any applications, same thing is happening :S iphone 3g iphone OS 3.1.2

My boyfriends laptop just died, and he needs to sync his iphone to get updates etc.I offered my MBP, but even if we did a backup/restore, would he lose all of his music, contacts, pictures whatnot?thanks Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.5.3) also has a G4 15 inc.

Phone Stuck on Connect with ITunes-Nothing works so far iphone 3g

Everything was working fine until iTunes requested an update. Since then iTunes does not recognize the iphone. The iphone wont reset, restore just keeps the Connect to iTunes despite re-downloading the software, Checking my USB, changing plugs, profile, turn on and off computer. The phone remains stuck and this pop-up Windows need to install driver software for your device which prompts me to a software I dont have/cant find...Thanks!!

Upgrading Last night gave my iphone some Other Disease 3g

Itunes 9.0.3.15Iphone 3g 3.1.3Having recently gone through dealing with my iphone white screening..Screen Replacement fixed that...I decided I would update Itunes and my iphone.I updated the iphone first then Itunes...I then went and syncd the phone. This turns out was not the best idea as my Phone erased all the music and photos and bloated up with 6.66 Gigs of Other...Fearing I had somehow contracted pure evil I quickly ran to the nearest church and reaffirmed my faith...(I might also be Catholic now)Anyway the evil 6.66G of Other will not go away even after trying to restore. Does anyone have any idea how to get the devil off my phone? For you non-believers I will attach a screen shot of the 6.66Gig if you like G5 Mac OS X (10.4.11) iphone, Power Book

Hi allI’ve had the iphone 3g for something like 9 months and treated myself with a 3gs.So I thought I’d give my 3g to my cousin in France. I called my mobile provider Telia, which was the first company to sell iPhones in Denmark, to have them unlock the phone so it could be used in France. I figured they were partners with Apple, so why not get it done the right way ?!No problem - they unlocked it, told me to restore the iphone from within iTunes to get it properly registered with Apple and bingo, smooth operation.Turns out the iphone is now treated as an illegally unlocked iphone and all push notifications are now dead?!!Where did this go wrong or is it totally impossible to change mobile provider with an iphone ?thx in advance iMac 3.06 Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5.5)
