Low battery bricked iphone 3g

I got a low battery warning and the iphone finally died on me during a phonecall.Now I cant switch it back on, neither reset it.I hooked it up to the charger (not the computer), from what I gather the computer cant recharge it after the battery is that low.Any ideas, secret button combinations or other voodoo suggestions to get it back to life?Thanks a bunch! Whats going on with my iphone 3g

I installed the update to Pandora and now my auto brightness will not work at all, I charged my batter this afternoon and have used it very little (no calls incoming or outgoing and no data usage just a couple text messages). Now my battery is almost fully drained. I have restarted the phone by turning it on and off and I have also did a reset on the phone by holding the hold switch and home button. The auto brightness still fails to work. Any ideas? Need help with my email iphone 3g

Just upgraded to the 3g and Im currently trying to set up my Gmail account on the phone. It will not let me and when I click on the email icon the only thing that shows is the inbox colum. it will try to get my emails for about a minute and then a message saying connection to the server imap.gmail.com failed. Stolen iphone Contd. 3g

On Christmas our flat was burgled. Among stolen things was iPod Nano 16gb (red) with engravings, iphone 3g 16gb and iPod Touch 2g with engravings. iPod Nano and iphone were Christmas presents and yet unregistered, iPod Touch was 2 months old and registered. Itunes require registration and obviously my stolen property will be connected to itunes and possibly registered. No doubt we have all receipts and crime reference number proving that we are the rightful owners. Both ipods were purchased from Apples UK online shop and iphone on O2 Pay as You go from Carphone Warehouse. Questions does Itunes and Apple cooperate with police and rightful owners in catching thieves? Does Itunes and Apple collect information on items that were reported stolen so that those serial numbers are recognized? Does Itunes and Apple inform law inforcement agencies then stolen items are registered or reregistered on itunes again? What is the procedure to inform Itunes or Apple that something was reported stolen? And the last question … If Itunes and Apple does not do any or some of these things WHY DON’T THEY DO IT? Why my phone say Call failed when dialing number iphone 3g

Ok, Im using 2.2 software version on my iphone 3g. Its not unlocked or anything. The problem started last night, when I tried to call someone in my contact list. Ill dial the number and it automatically goes to Call failed, it doesnt dial or even attempt to. I can sends text messages, receive phone calls, and get online. Just cant make phone calls.Heres what I did to try to fix it.First I cut the phone off and powered back on. Then tried a soft reset by holding the home button and power button down. after that didnt work I restored it to factory settings, which didnt work. Then I restored from a backup, but it didnt work either. Ive tried everything people have said on the internet, that doesnt require unlocking the phone.Please help!!!!**edit** - Ive also removed the SIM and restored to factory settings. Restoring as new device it download new software iphone

Ive been having various problems even after restoring from backup multiple times. At the Apple store, I was told to restore and select setup new device instead of restoring from backup, incase my backup was corrupted. The rep told me that iTunes would download fresh copies of the operating software, firmware and all apps. Is this true? At no point during the process did iTunes appear to be downloading anything. WOW I hate App Store software updates iphone 3g

Does anyone elses phone take forever to update an application? Has anyone else updated an App only have it send your phone into a reset? I just updated Texas Holdem on my phone. after 10 minutes of waiting for the thing to update, I re-synced my phone so it would copy onto my iMac and WOW, a half hour later and the meter hasnt budged. Not to mention that I had to make more the 245mb of memory available to upgrade a 129mb app(according to the app store). Whats that all about?! Sending SMS to more than 1 person on iphone 3g

According to Apples website this can be done, and I was able to do it on the 2G iphone, however my 3g only allows me to send an SMS to 1 person at a time. I have downloaded the most recent update but this feature hasnt been added.Can anyone help? Dell Windows XP

poor service iphone 3g

I would like to say that i was quite unhappy with the customer care. I have been an Apple customer for years, and as a teacher I fitted out my previous school with apple computers and currently trying to do the same at my current school. On of the points i use when convincing admin to purchase apple equipment is due to the good customer care I have received in the past, however no this no longer seems to be the case. My iphone has a crack on the screen that has been there almost since new and it has not caused any problems. Now 6 months later i am having what I believe to be an unrelated fault I am being told that I am no longer covered by any warranty. I explained to the service people that there was no previous faults that may be related to the crack, but was told that they only have my word for that and that my word was not good enough. I understand that you must have policies in place but I am a long term supporter of your product and very disappointed. As admin staff know of my phone (I use it for much business use at school) and i return to school in a few weeks saying that it failed and apple would not cover it under their warranty, my standing argument for apple due to your quality of care will be useless.

Problem updating to 2.2 iphone 3g

1. I have now updated my iphone three times. This last update was to 2.2 from 2.1. My Lenovo X300 WIN XP PRO will not finish the installation it just hangs checking the phone. I have to connect the phone to another computer preferably a Mac and then complete the recovery process. I know many others have had this problem. Any hope for a solution?2. The second problem was the most frustrating. after updating to 2.2 my downloaded programs had disappeared. During the software upgrade process it did a successful backup and I restored after updating (otherwise I wouldn’t have had my contact music etc.). iphone 3g-Dead on Arrival

On 24Dec2008, I decided to do a handset upgrade with Vodafone (in Australia, we have mobile phone contracts, and to keep you with them the telcos will offer deals if you sign for another 24 months) to get a 16gb iphone 3g.I took it home, plugged it into the AC charger, then I plugged it into my laptop.Nothing. The Apple Logo appeared on the iphone screen, but (the latest version of) iTunes didnt open, and my computer (a Windows XP OS) did not recognise that a device had been plugged in. I changed USB ports, to no avail. I got my sons iPod Nano, plugged it in, and recognised immediately.I went online, saw lots of hints and tips, and tried them (including holding the Off and Home buttons until the device turns off), still nothing.An important note - I have not attempted any hacks - I am quite happy to use the iphone on my Vodafone network.So my Christmas was ruined.I took the phone to my local Vodafone dealer, only to be told I had to take it to the dealer that I got it from. I took it to the Apple shop, and after he moaned about people buying Apple products from somewhere else and expecting Apple to support it, he at least tried to initialise it for me. No luck.So I rang the place that I got it from (they are about 70 km away from where I live, so I wasnt going to drive to them for no reason), and they said they would order me a new one. It is now the 7th of January, and they are telling me maybe next week.Is my iphone truly dead, or is there a secret thing I havent tried yet? I am almost ready to go get a Blackberry Storm. Dropping Calls iphone 3g

This problem just started yesterday morning. I am unable to make or receive phone calls on the AT&T network. When receiving a call, the phone says I have full signal. When I try to answer the call, the signal bars fall to nothing and then it searches for the network. This happens on both the Edge and 3g areas. When making a call, once again the phone is telling me I have full signal, then it drops to nothing. The call is failed, then searches for the network.I am able to text message, the data is not working. I have restarted, reset, removed the sim card. Im out of ideas. Just a side note, while on GPS in 3g areas, my current location is telling me I am in Cleveland. The problem with that is I live in Delaware. I am not sure if these are related problems.Does anyone have a clue what the heck is going on with this thing. I really dont want to replace it again, this being my second iphone. ATT date wrong iphone

Hi there,Am in the Chicago, IL area...and this morning when I turned on my iphone, the date read Wednesday, January 7. Ive rebooted the iphone a few times already, and every time it keeps saying its Wed. the 7th, not Tues. the 6th. Anyone else having this particular issue? Ive read here that some services were down on the East Coast, but nothing about the date issue. The time is correct. iphone 3g Speaker phone microphone mute issue

I have noticed a fault with my iphone 3g when I use Speakerphone. As soon as I select Speakerphone mode I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. They hear no sound, not even faintly. The microphone seems to mute. However, when I switch back and put the unit up to me ear, they can hear me and I can hear them. When I got the iphone this function definitely worked. I now mostly use a Bluetooth headset so only recently (post software 2.2 upgrade) noticed the speakerphone defect. It sounds like a software defect rather than a microphone fault to me. Have tried a Restore but this has not cured the problem. Has anybody had a similar problem? I will call O2/Carphone Warehouse if nobody has encountered this issue, however, when I contacted them to question the lack of PUSH e-mail, before the last software upgrade, O2 tried to tell me that it was my e-mail provider that was at fault! iphone stuck when first syncing

i recently purchased an iphone 3g 8gb. loved it and everything worked flawlessly with it. i released that the 8gb wasnt enough so i went out and exchanged it for a 16gb phone instead. so i came home to sync it with my itunes and its stuck in the sycing stage. its stuck on syncing contacts. i have restored it and tried to uncheck the options to sych with and no matter what it gets stuck syncing anything. can anyone help me out with this. id like to be able to use my new iphone instead of watching it sycn. it is using software 2.2 please help! imac 24" Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Im sure others get the files (.AppleSyncInfo) in the favorites under IE. Does anyone know if they are important (can I delete them?) or what exactly they are for? I’m annoyed that Apple didn’t make file storing available to begin with (in such a highly sophisticated and versatile device!!!), and I have to spend more money and time on more stuff (i.e. third party apps which require either a wi-fi network -> need to buy router, or a mobile-me account, etc. etc., researching it all, installing it all).Main reason for posting this is not so much becasuse Im looking for answers, but because I hope many many will agree with me and Apple will get the message.I love love love my iphone, but hate hate hate that I cant store PDFs of my business contract, price list, etc. So basic and standard nowadays, I mean, even all of Apples documentation comes in PDF format.Apple, make a software update that allows file storage! Static noise in phone ear speaker iphone

Not the typical RF interference you get when around speaks, every call I make with the phone now has clipping or static sound in the ear speaker. If I put on speaker phone it is on there a few times. I have had an iphone 3g for a month and a half and I am having a very strange issue with it. The battery for the last 2 charges has gone done all the way, till I see the charge screen, but when I plug it in (and let wait for it to power on), the battery meter says it is is half full. Switching to 3g from old iphone cant xfer my personal stuff help

So, I just upgraded to 3g from the old iphone and received the brand new phone from AUS, I work in Baghdad and need the unlocked model for different sims. I followed Apple instructions and backed up my old 1st, but when I activated the 3g, it only gave me the new phone option. I didnt see it or it didnt give me the option of restoring from my old backup. So I think now Itunes has me with 2 phones on the same account, they both come up as my phone, old is 8GB and the new is 16gb, having the same name. The new phone is unlocked by Apple and took all my info, but no settings, SMS, recents, notes, etc... The old phone still has my old info and settings on it, I tried to back it up and put it on the new, but no success. I only have the sim from AT&T and I switch it back and forth for the transfer, not certain if that matters. Ive just bought the iphone 16gb (black). The design is exemplary! Now, the issues are - no bluetooth, and no facility to search emails! Some guys have received the iphone for business use, and the main grumble is no search facility in looking up your received emails! Bluetooth is sometimes essential when swapping info between differing cell phones. Well, I like the iphone but think these two main gripes are a major drawback. Now the two questions are...does anyone working in Apple know of work around solutions? will these features be rectified in the (near) future?By the way, happy new year to everyone. iphone 3g Suddenly Malfunctioning

My wife has a 3g 16gb and today it froze, then went to phone where it got stuck (couldnt even use the main button to get back to the home screen, it just wouldnt respond). The other thing is that it wont turn off - holding the top button just turns the screen off or on, it never triggers the turn device off? dialog. Trying to get it to do something other than phone, I hit the main button and the power button at the same time and it made a camera sound (taking a pic) and the screen has gone blank, all white. Toggling the audio/no audio button on the side makes the littel bell icon show up, but otherwise there is nothing on screen and I still cant turn the device off. Ive attached it to iTunes and it is recognized, so is restoring it my only option? I dont believe its been backed up, so I wanted to ask if anyone knew of another option first?? Thanks!! G4

if the next iphone isnt a serious improvement in terms of specs, i would certainly consider getting N97. iphone 3g has what upgrades exactly from the 2.5g?.... 3g? a flush headphone jack, okay? what else, hardly nothing worth boasting about. iPhone3 needs decent camera features (with zoom/flash), more GB, and a video recording fuction, atleast, in the nx update otherwise i wont be going near it. iphone 3g physical phone size smaller than others

I have noticed that my iphone 3g (16gb) is actually shorter (in size) than my wifes? I use the Inspiretech case and have noticed that my phone actually shifts around a little bit but when I put my wifes phone in there, it holds the phone correctly and doesnt shift. I also experienced this with my first case which was a DLO-Jam Jacket where the phone would slide down the jelly like case a little bit. My wifes phone did not do this in the Jam Jacket either. Has anyone experienced this before? I have modified my latest case by stuffing a couple pieces of folded up paper in it to make up the extra space. Is this something I should worry about? G3 with 2.2 update loosing Battery Life Fast iphone

I am new to the iphone - just received my first one mid December and unfortunately my second just yesterday due to this reason that I AM STILL HAVING.Before the update on my first phone - I had great battery life - full day running just a few applications like twitteriffic, etc. I also have Exchange with Kerio Service set to push. Still - no issues with the battery.I then did the update to 2.2 and noticed the back getting warmer and the battery dropping in just just hours - 4 max if lucky. No changes to the settings at all. I even tried a reset and then a restore and still same issue.Apple then issued me a new phone due to this and oddly - same issues are happening.My question is - is the push to the server causing this and should I have fetch setup instead? I am not sure how this works and which to set to push if i do. Would I turn the Push option off but under the advance tab where it list my email account - should I set that option to Push?I am below a half a battery now and its only be just over 2 hours. iphone GPS for Cycling 3g

Im a serious amateur cyclist. I have an original iphone and always have it on me while riding. I wasnt planning on upgrading to an iphone 3g, preferring to wait another year, maybe catch the next model. But Id like to update my Garmin GPS for a more modern unit, and I need to know if the iphone 3g GPS + some sort of App Store app would suffice for route tracking, distance and time tracking, etc. Or is a combination of an iphone app and the iphone 3g GPS better suited for more casual GPS users -- and Id be better off with a dedicated runner/cyclist GPS device? I know there some posts on this earlier, but I could not find the thread. Anyway, twice in the last week, I plugged my headphones in to make a call, but I got a meeting cancellation before I dialed in. after receiving the cancellation, I took the headphones out, and out of the blue, the iphone just started to play music (not from a playlist, but from all songs).Ive seen posts on this before, porobably sometime last month, and Ill admit, I did not think it happened the way it was described...but now its happened twice to me in the last week.to duplicate the problem, insert headphones (from the home screen), goto Phone, choose keypad, press the home button, remove the headphones. Sometimes it starts to play (othertimes, you can see the play icon briefly before it disappears). Its a strange quirk that I am wondering if others can duplicate. Landscape Keyboard iphone

When is Apple going to upgrade the keyboard so you can use the landscape keyboard for text messaging, email, internet, etc.? I have nails so a larger keyboard makes typing much easier for me. Does anyone have one of these? If so, have you had any issues? Does it work good with iTunes? What service are you using? Im looking to get one to use with T-Mobile in the USA and other carriers outside of the USA. I understand that Apple cant have locked phones outside of the USA.Let me know your thoughts if you have one and if you have encountered issues, as I was told I can always update firmware via iTunes because it has been officially unlocked by Apple, and will not re-lock.thanks! Passcoded iphone 3g bricked after Upgrade to 2.2

Used iTunes to upgrade iphone 3g from 2.1 to 2.2. iphone had a passcode - the cause of all the problems, I think. Upgrade went well until iphone rebooted, at which point iTunes reported it could not connect to iphone because it is locked with a passcode. iphone presents emergency call interface with picture of USB cable towards an iTunes icon - no passcode prompt.iphone is legal, iTunes/PC is latest.Tried restore via DFU. No joy. after restore, iphone displayed same screen, iTunes now says SIM card is not inserted or SIM PIN is required.Any solution short of going to Apple store?Thanks,Jim Stearns iphone Upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2
