Speaker has almost stop working iPhone 3G

Has any of you guys lost the sound from the speaker mine has almost lost all the sound from the phone speaker. Hands free still works. So Im off to get a new phone. My 2 year warranty is almost over so it was a good investment.I did a complete restore, but the speaker has not come back. I must say the phone is a lot faster after the restore. 4.0.1 Errors Post iPhone 4

So, this is the seventh time Ive tried to restore. I keep getting error 9. Ive tried both usb ports and another cable. Now I am trying a new user account. What else can I do? Ive already called Apple and dont have access to a store. I get 3/4 of the way through the firmware update and it gives me an error. Very frustrating. Anyone have the same problem? iTunes 10 fix for 3g iPhone 3G

Hi, can anyone advise please? Will i need to install iTunes10 before i can use the new fix for 3G tomorrow or will i be ok not to. Ive read how many problems others have had with the new iTunes & after updating my 3G to 4.0.2 which has rendered it almost useless im a bit cautious now, i really dont want any more stress...i love my MBP also ipad, i used to love my iPhone until 4.0.2 now im gutted because i can rarely use it. seriously? i shouldnt have to downgrade the operating system, or wait for weeks or months while you play with iphone 4 and the ipad and try to revamp the ipods of yesteryear. my phone freezes almost every time a call comes in, it wont load contacts and there is no menu while i am dialing a phone number. everything else works great but you see, the only thing is i have an iphone not an ipod touch so making calls is a pretty important thing here. my mom is whining about me not answering her calls because she has a 3gs and so does my step dad and they are begining to believe i am making it up about these issues....and its your stupid fault for not fixing the stupid issues.so please fix your operating system before i do the unthinkable and take my business to another carrier with an unlocked and jailbroken device. jerks! Question about SGP Oleophobic screen protector iPhone 4

I just ordered one of the SGP Ultra Oleophobic protectors and was curious about their longevity. I never used a screen protector on my 3g and never had a scratch, but after some of the horror stories Ive heard, I decided to put one on my iP4. Anyway, I dont have much a frame of reference as to how long these things last. Should I expect to buy a set twice a year/every two months? Iphone 3G gets hot while charging and wont charge

Hey! This is my first post. I have an iPhone 3G and recently it gets hot while charging. Eventually it stops charging and starts to loose the charge.Let me explain. Last night i plugged it in to my pc and left it to charge. I had 86% left. 2 Hours later I came back to check and it had dropped to 50% and it was very hot!Ive noticed that if I put it in airplane, it charges without overheating! So is this a software issue? wiFi connectivity iPhone 4

My iPhone 4 will not connect to my home network no matter what I try. The network is not secured and has always worked fine with the old 3gs. It works fine with my sons iPhone 4 but not mine or my wifes. When I try to connect it simply comes back with Unable to join the network.... I have the latest iPhone software update and it did the same before nd after that update. I have tried Forget this network Ive tried Renew lease and Ive tried restarting the router. Eventually it will connect but as soon as I leave the house and come back its the same old problem again.I dont think its a problem with the network as other devices work fine - even my ipad!!!I recently changed ISPs but have the same router.Any suggestions appreciated.ThanksDavid imac 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Iphone restoring problems

When i try to restore my iphone Itunes gets to Preparing iphone for restore and the iphone goes to the apple logo for about 10 sec then a small loading circle appears at the bottom of the screen and it stays at this forever or until i hold down home + power button to restart it but after 15 minutes Itunes comes up with error 1603 but i have tried everything on their site to fix that with no luck.Any ideas what i can do to try fix this?N.B. In oil & gas operations, cell phones and PDAs are typically banned because they’re considered intolerable risk for igniting potentially explosive environments. Consequently, we struggle to adopt innovative Smart Mobile Worker concepts at our plants. Same applies to mines, and strictly speaking, to the use of phones by consumers at gas stations where also you fill up your car. It’s not so much the RF energy, but more about what a hot spot or spark from a fault condition might trigger.We are currently evaluating to what extent real modern nearly all solid state and relatively speaking extreme low power devices such as the iPhone4 (but also iPod, ipad and MacBook Air with SSD) would need to be modified before they can be declared what we call ‘intrinsically safe’ for use in either Zone 1 (tough!) or Zone 2 (might be OK already). Meaning assess what would it take to pass testing as per IEC60079-11, or any other IEC60079 standard. Those that evaluate now ask if they can get circuit diagrams. I’d anticipate that Apple would decline. But one can always ask. Under NDA obviously. Plan B is that we get just an assessment of what the maximum voltages, currents can be inside the device, on PCBs and connectors, plus get an assessment on what the total capacity of all capacitors on board would be if we would place them all in parallel. A BOM would reveal that. Similar question for inductors. Would be really nice if a statement on iPhone4 (informal for now – this is just for initial feasibility assessment – no guarantees asked) can be made that says e.g:The maximum voltage inside, also under any plausible fault condition, is less than 8 Volts,The maximum current on any PCB track or connector is less than 4 A, also under single or dual fault conditions,Excluding the battery pack, the total capacity that theoretically would result from placing all C’s in parallel is below 500 uF, and,The total inductance that theoretically would results from all L’s in series, is less than 500 uH.The IP rating of the enclosure is IP44.Grateful for anyones assistance. It would be really appreciated if we can crack this. Together. We’d happily pay if that is what it takes. Transferring everything to new laptop iPhone 4

Hi, this has probably been asked but I have not found a good answer. I got a new laptop and want to switch all of my iTunes to it and be able to sync my iphone 4, ipad, and iPod touch. How can I change the new computer to be my main computer? I tried with the iPod and lost everything, so I am kind of scared to try it on my phone and ipad. iOS cant handle forwarded emails iPhone

Ive just run headlong into a major email problem after setting up an associates email client to automatically forward selected email addresses to her during a three week trip carrying only an ipad and iPhone for email access.The only available option for the automatic forwarding is to forward the email as an attachmentThe problem is that the iPads GMail client simply presents the attached emails as cannot open attachments. This is not only the GMail client, but the problem is there for other as well, so, the email client appears to be common except for the setups.These attachments do have a filename extension... it is .eml (which is a long existing and standard extension for email attachments)imho, this needs immediate attention.The only (apparent) current options are to manually forward the emails inline or to use a webmail interface... if it happens to be GMail, there are additional problems. 3G Charging but iPhone 3G

I have a 3G and 4G iphone and an ipad. My 3G stopped charging when connected to the iphone charger. Its the same charger that Ive had for two years and worked fine. In fact, the same charger charges my iphone 4G perfectly. However, when I plug the 3G into the ipad charger it charges fine. This is a recent development. Thoughts? macbookpro Mac OS X (10.5.1)

How to exit FaceTime iPhone

This may sound like a stupid question at first -- but how doI exit a FaceTime connection and revert back to the voice call…?!I mean, if I can go from voice to video I should be able to go back to voice again, right…?!So far I have tried all buttons and options, but I cant find anything that works…! I can mute the FT call and I can of course hang up and call again, but thats not really a solution…Closest thing I found is pressing the home button, but -- just as in a voice call -- that only takes you to the home screen and you are still on speaker, so thats not it either…Am I missing something here…?! New iOS 4.1 iPhone 4

The new iOS 4.1 gives the ability to upload HD videos - a welcome improvment! Proximity sensor, bluetooth and 3gs issues are said to be fixed. A new game centre dedicated to muliplayer games will also be added. High Dynamic Range photos will also be included (the camera automatically brackets an exposure on either side of your picture then takes the best of the three for the final result). iPhone 4-painfully slow wi-fi performance

Ive been experiencing painfully slow wifi performance (about 1/4 the speed of 3G performance) while connected to Wi-Fi.I tried following the advice given in an Apple Support article which suggested resetting network settings. I then had to re-enter the password for my wi-fi and it seemed better for a few minutes while after doing that. But then its back to snails pace again.Has anyone else see this? My Wi-Fi router is a Linksys WAG325N with firmware v1.00.12. Its working fine with several macs, an ipad, an iPod Touch and an iPhone 3GS. Its only the iPhone 4 which has this problem. I can load a given web page on both my iPhone 4 and 3GS and the 3GS normally finishes before the iPhone 4 has even loaded the page title. Who Has Had Perfect iPhone 4 Experience

My iPhone experience has been flawless! I ordered on 6/16 in the evening with no problem. Received a ship by 7/14 date and a deliver by 7/14-7/19 date. I received an email from Apple on Friday that the order had been released and tracked the package a couple of times over the holiday at my lakehouse for the holiday and received it today (7/6) in mid-afternoon. The sync process was seamless, everything came over. Using the phone around town today, taking photos, sending and receiving texts, and I have not had problem #1. No dropping calls, no damaged or colored screen, no missing iPhone when I opened the box. The process has been very well done and the iPhone is really outstanding. The screen presentation is amazing, the new form factor is much easier too handle than any of the previous versions. Given that I cant believe everyone writing in is hallucinating, or incompetent or worse, lying...I wonder how many have an excellent experience like I have? iPhone 4 all 3rd party apps including their data suddenly gone

There is a strange and very annoying bug in iOS 4 (4, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2); every once in while all third party apps including their data get deleted from the iPhone. This happens WITHOUT any user interaction, apparently random and not during sync. The iPhone just rests on the desk unused, then I pick it up again, unlock the screen and find out that all 3rd party apps are gone. The original Apple apps including their data are just fine. Very strange and very annoying. Did someone else suffer from this problem? contacts on iphone 4 arbitrarily duplicating

For some reason my iphone 4 is arbitrarily duplicating some contactsThe duplicates are there but have no information inside.I am syncing contacts with an ipad and several macs and there are no duplicates on any of them, just the iphone 4.I tried deleting them and they came backI deleted all contacts and then synced up from mobile me and the iphone duplicated them again.There are 3-6 duplicates of nearly 20% of all contacts?What gives? Horrible Iphone 4 genius bar experience

Hello all,I wanted to share a recent experience I had recently with my Iphone 4, since I have not been able to find a suitable customer service center to speak to. A letter of the situation will be sent to BBB and also Cupertino.About 2 weeks ago my Iphone 4 started malfunctioning, about 2 days after it turned off and never came back on. I went to the local ATT store and they could not help me but I had them forward my calls. They said I had to go the Apple store. The next day I went to the Apple store in Rancho Cucamonga and had a 2 hour wait. Once I finally got to the genius bar there was no attempt to fix the phone, I got the feeling they knew what was wrong and the fix was a new replacement on the spot. I was happy about that, all he did was swap the SIM cards and he said it would activate in a couple of hours.I left on a business trip, and after various calls with Apple and ATT they informed me that at the genius bar they had voided my SIM card instead of activating it. The only way to fix it was to go back to the Apple Store.Yesterday I visited the Apple Store in Brea, California. They informed me that the wait was about 24 hours to which I explained my situation and that all I needed was a new SIM card and re activation (it takes less than 5 Minutes). He said he couldnt help me and I told him that if had to wait that long it would be to return the phone, he said he would get his manager. The Manager turned out to be one of the most insensitive and unprofessional individual I have ever encountered. He did not cared to hear my situation and instructed me to take the next appointment at 6:10 pm the next day, I said I wanted to return the phone immediately. He said that the I would HAVE TO TAKE THE SAME APPOINTMENT TIME TO RETURN THE PHONE! I felt like exploding on him but my 5 year old daughter was next to me and wasnt worth it.I have an appointment tomorrow in Rancho to return the phone. Ive reactivated an old account with a previous carrier and even as I typed this on my ipad I have such a bad taste for their customer service I feel sick to my stomach. Apple has great products but such arrogance will only make you lose more customers. ipad

I have not had occasion to access AT&T Wifi in the USA with the i4, but while in the Stockholm airport this morning there was an active network that could have connected me to AT&T Wifi. Apps suddenly get deleted Everything gone except standard apps iPhone 4

I encountered this 3 times on my iPhone 4. Two times still with iOS 4 (after having the data copied to the iPhone 4 from the old iPhone 3G) and just now with iOS 4.0.1 (after I had two days ago set up the iPhone 4 completely new from scratch):All of sudden, without any interaction, all Apps I have purchased from the iTunes store are deleted from my iPhone. Reception Dropped Calls with 4.0.2 iPhone 4

I upgraded to 4.0.2 a couple of days ago and since then I have dropped 7 calls. In the entire month and a half leading up to this I dropped 2 and 1 of those was my fault (covered up the lower left corner before I knew better). I spoke with my wife and a couple of friends and every one of them has also noticed this problem. Now I want to know if everyone else has noticed this or is it just a local thing (Jenison/Grand Rapids MI area).As a side note my batter drains a heck of a lot faster since I upgraded as well. Download Speeds Vary Between iPhoneiPad and Computers

I have Comcast Cable internet that I access wirelessly through an AE base station. All my devices connect by wifi. When I run a speed test on the 2 computer, an imac and MB Pro, I use Speedtest.net flash website. On there I see the download speeds that I expect to see with my service level. On my iphone and ipad I use the speedtest.net app and always see lower speeds at least on the download side. Now everything works well, no wifi issues and the speeds are very good - I actually have no complaints at all. Im just curious why there is such a difference. I realize that each time one of these tests is run its just a snapshot of that moment in time and will vary and that a flash website may well give a different result than an onboard app. But Im still curious and wonder if anyone has an explanation I might understand. Skype on 3G iPhone 4

Has anyone tried using Skype on the iPhone 4 using 3G service? Its basically unusable, I havent been able to hold a connection for longer than a minute or so without it dropping the call. Im trying to restore iphone3G to 4.0.1 from last 2 days but every time i got errors related to USB. errors like 2003,2005,2009,14 etc. believe me i tried almost every form. every time i plug my Iphone3G to PC it says This device can perform faster please plug this in hi-speed USB 2.0 port. i tried all my USB ports but nops. and yes i have Enhanced USB 2.0 port according to my XP hardware device manager.some times ITunes got my IPhone and start restoring IPhone with IOS4.0.1 but got error(described above) in very initial phase of of restoring.here are the solutions i already tried1) i change IPhone data cable (4 cables exact )2) try to restore IPhone on 3 different computers XP SP2 all.3) Already read all try Apple USB troubleshooting (try different USB ports, security software bla bla bla)4) Reinstall iTunes several times5) try many times in DFU + Recovery mode.6) i updated my Bios and motherboard driver too.here is the conclusion of problem i thought can be. every time i plug IPhone it is associated with normal USB1.0 i think if it some how associated with USB2.0 then my problem solved but i tried all USB ports.cmon pros tell me some thing. and last thing i can not visit IPhone store because Im in Pakistan for next 2 months where no Apple support is available. Maps-International iPhone 3G

I am traveling internationally with both ipad and Iphone 3G, using wi-fi only. My ipad immediately identifies my current location for map functions, but my Iphone cant find my location. Rebooting doesnt help. Any suggestions?

No 3G signal after 4.0.2 upgrade on iPhone 4 O2 UK

Has any one else had this problem?I had a very strong 3G signal before I upgraded to 4.0.2. Now I only have storng Edge signal or strong GPRS signal. I have phoned O2 and they have told me that there is no problem with their Network. On the advice of the O2 customer services I took the sim card out and reinstalled, still no change in signal.Wiped the phone and setup the phone as a brand new phone. Facetime on WiFi only iPhone 4

Hello, does anyone know if you can use Facetime with only the WiFi enabled on the iPhone 4. Ive been trying to find nice, tasteful ringtones similar to the Marimba ringtone that came on the iPhone. Id like to have some variations to assign to various contacts. Using iPhone without S card

I have an iPhone 4 from here in the UK, and I am moving to a country that does not yet have the iPhone 4. My iPhone 4 wont push email.

I have 4.0.1 installed on my iPhone. I have it set to push Yahoo, GMail and MobileMe mail. Ive noticed lately that it wont push any email over night. What takes priority wifi or cellular data iPhone 4

I cant find a discussion about this...When the phone has cellular data turned on & is also connected via wifi, what takes priority for e-mail, surfing, etc? Takes licking and keeps on ticking iPhone 3G

So heres the scenario....Were moving the kid to the college town in a U-Haul truck. Judy has the iPhone on her lap, and when she gets out at our hotel it falls on the ground. But neither of us knows it at the time, so we go on about our business which is getting some dinner. At the restaurant Judy notices the phone missing. No problem, I say, well find it with Find My iPhone on MobileMe. Ooops -- my MacBook is at home, her MacBook battery has run down and the charging cord is back in the hotel room, and the ipad wont do the Find My iPhone thing (why is THAT??). OK, we go back to the hotel and were going to look around where we parked the truck the first time we were there (thinking --Correctly! -- it might have fallen out when she got out). Turns out there is an SUV and trailer parked there now. Its dark. I get my flashlight out and Im starting to look for the phone on the ground when we hear Judys phone ring. There it is! Its on the ground, and the trailer tire is covering about a third of the phone. She tries to pick it up, but the trailer weight is on it. Let me try, I say, Im stronger. I can wiggle it, but cant get it out. We had to jack up the trailer, un-hitch from the SUV, roll the trailer back a few inches to free the phone.The screen was a mess! Judy peeled the protective film off, and voila! -- screen looks good. She tries to make a call, but No SIM card installed message comes up on screen. We pop the SIM card out, put it back in, power the phone off then back on........and Ill be damned, the phone looks good and works fine! Thanks to Apple for a rugged phone, thanks to NoName Cheapie case, thanks to the screen protector, thanks to Jack who just happened to call when we were looking for the phone.Many years ago, Timex ran ads that demonstrated that It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. iPhone 3g 16gb recoveryrestore loop

2 recent iPhone 4s working ok since day 1. I (Dad) inherit 2yr old (out of warranty) iPhone 3g 16gb. Recently the phone went into the WSOD, Apple Logo, Recovery, Restore loop (was connected to car audio). Phone has not had any other problems since day one. Not jailbroken or unlocked. YouTube-cant log in anymore to see MyVideos or Subscriptions iPhone 4

Yesterday : everything was fine with YouTube , I was able to login and see MyVideos and Subscriptions Today : cant login using the YouTube app , a pop up comes saying YouTube Not AvailableThings are normal using Safari, I tried changing the old password with all lower case one, unlinking YouTube account with Google account, linking it back, and nothing seems to work, any ideas? P.S : this is also exactly happening with ipad app as well iOS 4

sync issue iPhone 3G

does anyone have any idea how to correct this problem?itunes was unable to load provider data from sync services. reconnect or try again laterI got this message after I did the 4.0 update. It erased all my contacts which I had to put back manually. I will not sync any of my contacts, notes, calendar. Cannot hear anything when making or recieving calls iPhone 4

A very strange issue has started happening randomly on my new Iphone 4.it seems that randomly when making or recieving a call i cannot hear the other person and they cant hear me, this is coupled with the speaker button being automatically enabled when making an outgoing call, i can depress the button but i still cannot hear anything, i also notice that i cant repress the button it will just turn the speaker off straight away.Also i cannot hear it ring when making a call.Normals sounds are ok and the phone rings fine when someone calls me, the problem is also present when paired up through bluetooth headset.The phone has full reception and the other and I have reset the phone to factory defaults multiple times and without restoring any settings or apps the problems was still present.The problem seems to come and go randomly, very strange.Anyone know of a fix?Cheers!Message was edited by: Spasiba PC Windows 7 IOS 4.01

iPhone iOS 4 wifi problems and 4.1 beta

Hello,Im curious to know if anyone have tried to install 4.1 beta to solve wi-fi problems? Problems are pretty minor when using iPhone 4 but there are some. I for example suffer ridiculously short wifi range. When using older models (3G/S) problems are far more common. There are greyd wifi settings, short range, problems with WPA2 security and so just to mention couple.Im curious because althought my problem probably is hardware based it could also be just because of iOS4. There are 3GS users reporting that exactly same problems after iOS4 update. And like most users know also some ipad users had wifi problems before 3.2.1 update. iPhone 4 16GB black iOS 4

iPhone 4 quasi-recognised but not where it counts

My problem has become the bane of my life in the past week. Ill give you the whole story in detail first and explain the problem at the bottom for those of you who just want to read on in case its a simple and obvious fix Im clearly overlooking...I bought my iPhone 4 the day it came out on O2 (UK). Ive had my Macbook since August 2007 and it was running OS X 10.4. I was also given a SIM card that I could put in my old phone and copy the contacts across and snap down into a Micro-SIM to put into my iPhone 4. Upon coming home, I found out I couldnt sync it to my Macbook because I needed a more recent version of OS X, so I decided to set it up on my mums laptop (essentially unused and brand new laptop, because she doesnt know the first thing about computer and I still have no idea why she bought it in the first place... It is running Windows 7). The iPhone started up okay and I synced a few songs Id hastily downloaded and the next day I went away for Spain for a month where I took loads of pictures, lovingly stored on my iPhone.On my return from Spain, I wanted to back up my iPhone and get some new music (as Id grown incredibly sick of the 30-odd songs Id taken away with me to sunbathe with) and save my pictures in case anything went wrong. I also wanted a fix so that I could get my iPhone to sync to my Macbook (as Im going back to University and away from mums laptop in about 3 weeks)... I managed uploaded my pictures onto facebook and my mums computer, so theyre safe (thank God!) I went to the Apple Store after reading online, and realised I had to buy the Snow Leopard Family Pack (or whatever its called, the expensive one with iLife and iWork included) and updated my Macbook yesterday, along with the other extras.I was finally ready for my iPhone to get all of my music from my iTunes that Id build up over the last few years and was eagerly waiting everything to be good in the world. I plugged my iPhone in and immediately iPhoto comes up and offers to import all of my pictures. After this I wonder why iTunes hasnt come up and do it manually. The iPhone is not there as an option, nor is it on the desktop (as was normal with my old iPods...) I followed instructions I found online, and proceeded to Reset All Settings, restart the iPhone, iTunes, try different USB ports, completely remove every lingering file of iTunes and reinstall it, make sure everything was up to date and from all of this Ive had no luck!I plugged my iPhone back into my mums laptop and restored it to factory settings. It was finally back to how it was in the beginning and I took it out and shoved it into the Macbook. This time, NOTHING. I plug it back into my mums laptop and sync it again to make sure all is okay (dont worry I had a list saved of all my apps because for some reason I thought this was the most important thing) and realised all my contacts had been deleted. This wouldnt be a problem if I hadnt leant my old phone to my brother for his trip around Europe whilst I was in Spain and it was stolen from him...SO... To conclude, after getting over the shock that I no longer have any important contacts from my year abroad in Denmark, nor my friends back here in the UK (who Ill see anyway so its not as important), and the annoyance that Ill have to create one of those annoying Facebook groups I hate asking for contact details and giving my number out to the world... I STILL cant sync my iPhone to my Macbook (10.4, upgraded to 10.6.3) which has cost me not only the cost of an iPhone I dont wish to use in its current state, but ≈£130 for the OS upgrade, and an additional £100 for the new external hard-drive to make sure everything was backed up nicely before I performed the update.PLEASE HELP ME, Im all out of things to try!!xxx Macbook Mac OS X (10.6.3) (Originally Tiger, Updated to Snow Leopard)

Mobile.me Locate via iPhone or ipad

My wife has an iPhone and now an ipad. I have an iPhone. We have Apple Mac computers and laptop.I can find my iPhone, my wifes iPhone and her ipad from our computer using mobile.me location.We cannot seem to find a way (when we are away) of finding my wifes iPhone from my iPhone (and vice versa) or finding the ipad from either iPhone? Is this not possible?It could be that we are away from home with just ipad and iPhones and if we lose one it would be handy to use the other to find the lost device without having to wait until we travel home to get to our computer to locate one which might be hundreds of miles away by then? iMAC Mac OS X (10.5.8) MAC Book Pro Laptop

Hi I keep getting error 0xE8000022 on my iPhone whenever I sync my apps. Availability of new updates in UK iPhone 3G

Can anyone say when the new iOS updates will be available to UK users ?I understand they have been out since yesterday, Wednesday, in the US, but as of this evening in England my three appropriate iDevices all still report the old OS version as being up to date.
