iphone 5-rattling phone second replacement coming

hi guys. i can see this is a common issue. i have heard a few different reasons about why this is happening. either it's the autofocus mechanism or the vibrate motor.whatever the reason, this should not be happening on a £600 piece of hardware. the quality control at apple is not what it used to be and when they are rushing to manufacture millions of devices to tight deadlines in china then this is a problem that was going to happen sooner or later.i am of the opinion that this is a fault with possibly more than 50% of all iphones manufactured to date and apple needs to do a product recall. it seems that they have told staff to not admit this as a fault to try and avoid just that.i got a replacement and it arrived, the rattle was slightly less noticable but definitely still there. i just ordered another replacement and will continue to keep doing so until i get a device that doesn't rattle.before anyone says that this is normal and it is SUPPOSED to rattle, that is BS. i have been to the apple store in brighton and tried the display models and even tried a few they had in the back after speaking with a staff member. out of the 12 phones i went through, 2 didnt rattle AT ALL. Now you tell me if that is normal and people should just put up with the substandard product that apple has churned out this time. I say NO, and the more people that actually make a stand, the quicker apple will be forced to spend some of their $600B on fixing this issue.

My family and I recently moved to Shanghai for my dad's job. We bought an unlocked iphone 4s w/AppleCare in the U.S. and got a Chinese SIM card in china. I was riding my bike on the street and my phone fell out of my pocket and onto the road. The screen is completely cracked and the power on/off button is stuck. We're going back home for a couple months in the summer. Honestly, I don't want to have to deal with my cracked screen for another month. I'm wondering what my options are for this. Phone repalacement or phone repair? Do I have to wait to go back to the U.S. or can I go to an Apple store here and resolve it.

Rectangle transparent shield has appeared blocking taps on keypad iphone 5

A weird rectangular, transparent, shield has appeared "above" any key selected from lock code to apps that blocks any tapping on any keys or keypad.If I tap hard and fast, it might catch but then enters the number, or whatever, multiple times (cause of rapid tapping).  This has happened 6 times since March, where I've had to fully restore factory setting. First time, didn't know had to manually back up apps, dir., etc., so had to re-build it all 1st time. Since, same weird transparent shield appears, then no button will "select" or function until full restore. Because after rapid tapping, hard, one might stick, after 1, 2, 3, Dozentaps, it proves something transparent is blocking (the rectangle appears as a fine point box line hovering above anything I tap). This last time, the full restore put it back, and the problem is still there.Am back on my old 4S, which I kept, as spare (amazingly) until a fix.  Will prolly have to send it in on a slow boat to china, where itwas made, which is gonna be quicker than a repair job, I'm sure. Nothing like this comes up on the forum, any advice is well appreciated.Thank you kindly.

hi, everyone, I'm from china. I'm using an iphone 4s 16G black with a Trexta shell. I bought it in the Sanlitun Apple store, Beijing. Last night I wanted to change another shell. After I took off the Trexta shell, I found there was a sunken part which felt smooth by fingers on the back cover(the adge is not sunken). I've never dropped my iphone on the floor and there is no collision track you could see in the first picture. I thought it's like this when I bought it.  so I posted these on the biggest apple communities of china, but no one had seen this kind of problem before. Someone thought it's a plastic forming problem. In my opinion, the Apple products represent the best and perfect. If it's really a plastic forming problem, I can't believe it would happen on the iphone. someone said "go to the Apple store and change a new one", but Apple customer service said, after 14 days, Appearance problems is not in the warranty scope. someone suggested me to keep it as a souvenir, cause it's a small probability event.someone joked that I can put my iphone on Ebay, it's an Apple with a bite, maybe someone want to buy it. Have anyone seen the same problem before?  I hope you can understand what i'm saying, and forgive my poor English. Dear,My iphone 5 was not available these days after the 3G network,the ICON display 3G,but not working, Safari,App depend on network are all unavailable.i just try to switch on/off the 3G and Cellular buttons in Setting. after that it looks fine to access the internet.but few hour or mins later,it doesnt working again.My iphone 5 not jailbreak and using the china Unicom Carrier.Does anybody get the same issue??

Bought an iphone in Thailand needs repairs where I go to exchange it iphone 4S

Hi - I purchased a 4S iphone in Thailand about three weeks ago while I was on vacation there. Three days later while I was already away from Thailand a pixel on the left side of the screen busted and a horizontal line is now across my screen.  On my way back from Thailand had enough time to stop by the Apple store in Hong Kong and the tech support team there told me that only an Apple store in Thailand can help me replace or fix my phone at possible no charge. I called the apple retail store in Bangkok and the sales person told me I only had 15 days to return the phone to him for a possible exchange.  I live in china and I am not planning on traveling to Thailand just for the phone. What are my options to have the screen either replace or fix?  Thanks, Rene

Verizon unlocked best in my situation iphone 5

Currently with AT&T and upgrading to iphone 5. I travel about 4 months each year in china and Japan. Next year in Thailand also for 2 months. From what I read, the Verizon unlocked is the best solution to use with a local sim card in Asia. I still need a USA carrier however, but I am not keen on the Verizon shared plans - for a single low volume user, AT&T looks better. Question: Am I still better with Verizon unlocked and using this on the AT&T network in USA? Should I not worry and unlock an AT&T instead.?

Ordered iphone 5 through apple website using AT&amp;T and chose AT&amp;T as carrier. It is being shipped from china to my house. Will it arrive locked or unlocked? my replacement iphone 5 refurbished. Will production date change on refurbished model

I brought a iphone 5 from apple online and received it on Monday 24th Sept 2012 Serial number: C39JDY5RDTWD Production year: 2012 Production week: 37 (September). I had a problem with the screen so went to my local apple store. They found a fault &amp; swapped it for a "white box" model. 24th October 2012 Serial number: C39JJD3JDTWD Production year: 2012 Production week: 41 (October).  Now given there is around 4 weeks difference in production date. Is it likely that I have a new model and not a refurbished model? And will they give a new serial number if its a refurbished model? I would like to believe I have a new model as it would of taken days to ship. My first iphone would of been made before anyone had their first iphone and the 2nd replacement. Why new map in IOS6 only work in one country iphone 3G

I just installed IOS 6 and have problems with the new map. Just to explain I am a Danish citizen stationed in china at the moment, so I installed the update from here in china. Both Standard and Satellite maps work perfect here in china, but if I want to lock for something outside of china, the Satellite version is just black and Standard has almost no details (clear to see on pictures below of map zoomed all the way out). The Standard version has very little detail and no street names at all, even in the capital of Denmark (see below close-up). I might as well be using a piece of checkered paper as map, it has almost the same amount of details as the new Apple-map .  I remember reading on you website before I installed IOS 6 that the map worked in Denmark. Without any street names how can you call it working? How come the map only works properly in china and not the rest of the world, has anybody experience the same and have a solution?

You need to set up another iTunes/Apple ID account in the Chinese store because the Apple ID you have is only valid in the US store. You can try changing your current ID to the Chinese store. Open App store app. On the main page scroll to the bottom. You will see your Apple ID. Click on it...then click on Open Apple ID. You should be able to change store, but I don't know whether it will let you register that ID on a new store.

What s all fuss about iOS6 maps iphone 3G

For starters, I'm not an iFan... My first smartphone was a BB and I used to swear by it. I found (and sometimes still do) that the iphone was more of a toy while the BB was a professional tool. I still prefer the BB Bold's keyboard for typing emails than the iphone's touchscreen keyboard. I ended up buying a 4S earlier this year (March) only because BB had no Outlook Exchange license available where I lived (Maldives) and it was either Android or iphone, so the choice was clear there. Since then, I've come to grow quite fond of it and am quite happy with the integrations and functionality of the phone albeit it being slightly more time-consuming to send out emails. The iphone 5 launch event came out and I looked at all the details. Here's my conclusion: an extra row or icons, a slightly faster processor and most of all 4G. Now, I don't really need an extra row of icons... In fact, I sometimes find the 4S a little too long (jeans pockets along with a pack of cigarettes: cigarette pack usually loses and looks like it's been trampled by a herd of elephants...). So, I'm not in for a bigger screen as the current one's just fine. I never found my 4S to lack speed so I don't really care about the faster processor either. 4G? I love it! But I live in china now... It will be a while before it'll come out here, so why bother for the moment? It's complicated enough as it is as china Mobile (biggest network and best coverage, which I am also currently on) doesn't even have 3G for the iphone. Only EDGE, but I make do... china Unicom offer 3G for iPhones but not as good a coverage... So, what to do? So in the end, a 4S with the brand new iOS6 update to me sounds better than going out to buy a new iphone 5. Update has been out for 3 days now. And before I went ahead and updated I checked the reviews, comments and discussions... WOW! It would seem Apple has opened the wraths of **** upon the world and that the Apocalypse is upon us when reading on about all the bugs and issues. And everyone goes on and on about the maps... It's made it onto CNN, BBC and just about anyone with an iota of grey matter and a keyboard. There are even comments mentioning that Asia is practically mapless with the new native app. I froze! No way in **** was I going to update if I was going to lose such functionality. I've just arrived here 2 months ago, don't speak a word of the local language, feel like getting an audience with the Pope is simpler than giving a cab driver directions and the Google Maps app has often been a lifesaver for me here so far... As much as I want to get my hands on the rest of the new functions, it was a risk not worth taking. Today I bump into a colleague of mine at work and he's just updated his iPad (2nd gen) to iOS6. I tell him all I've heard about the maps and he brings it up to the restaurant for lunch. I'm scrolling through the new map app and honestly don't find much of a difference. Now, seeing as everyone is whining about the uselessness of the directions the new app gives, I give it a test. I search for the Park Hyatt in Beijing. The Google Maps app used to give me 3 different results. The new app gives me one result only, it's correct and gives me the right directions to get there... So, what is all the fuss on the new update??? So Apple got rid of Google Maps... Yes, it'll take time to get better but Apple so far have usually managed to do a pretty good job at doing that. At first, everyone was complaining about battery drainage... Nobody mentions it anymore... Strange... Is this intentional Apple bashing?... From what I've seen so far, I still don't get what all the fuss is about. I'm going ahead with the update... Will let you know how it goes!

I took it into the apple store here but they could not fix it - they accept that it is a hardware fault. They also say that as a UK iphone is different from a Chinese one, they cannot repair or replace it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to sort this out? Issues with Siri iphone 3G

I bought the 4s in mid June this year. After a good run for 2 weeks, Siri has stopped working on my phone - both via a 3G connection (Vodafone) as well as on Wi-Fi Whenever I log in Siri and give a command, the circle glows (in purple) about 40 times and after that the voice says" I am really sorry about this but I cannot be taking any request right now. Please try again in a little while" I have re-installed Siri 3 times, changed network operators (Airtel, Idea - in India and china Mobile - in china) to see if it is an operator issue but none have sufficed The team at the support centre (India) too have not been able to help me with this problemCan someone suggest any alternatives?   NL
