Hi, I received a text message with a great sound of a bird chirping which would be perfect for a ringtone as I play allot of golf and when the phone rang it would not put other players off. Hello,My 3g is frozen, however turning ringer on and off makes the bell show as does scaling the volume. Hey,I honestly cant remember if we ever purchased AppleCare....we bought so many things when we purchased our iphones last Feb. The issue we have run into is that my volume is no longer reducing during phone calls and I can no longer go into vibrate only mode...when I checked my serial this morning, it showed that we did have a warranty, I thought awesome, we can get this checked out but after I set up an appointment and everything, I checked again in about 30 minutes to see like the exact warranty to see if I could see what all was covered and the page was telling me that my warranty was expired...I am very confused because I cant remember if we purchased it or not and all of our paper work and things from the iphones are in storage... I am not keen on buying AppleCare for this phone since we are getting ready to upgrade to 3GS this summer....My question is does that happen often and do I need to cancel the appointment, because I dont think we can afford right now an out-of-pocket expense on fixing this phone...especially if seeing the service techs. cost. Custom ringtone weirdness iPhone 3G

So i have read all over the place about issues with custom ringtones on the iPhone 3G. I have a combination of ones I have created (mp3->AAC->m4r files), I have figured out to place them into the ringtones directory but here is the problem...I can only get one or 2 to show up at a time. Example...ringtone A, B, C, D are added to the ringtone directory on the iPhone. Only ringtone B shows on the phone after syncing. If I go into iTunes and remove B from the iPhone, it syncs again...but now ringtone C appears on the phone itself. iTunes shows the other tones in the directory. What is going on here? Something is being parsed wrong? File settings? If any of the tones are the only ones on the phone, they show up and work fine. It is once more than one are added to the directory that it just acts like a nut and randomly picks what will show up. iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.2

Barely audible text message sound iPhone

When I send a text, go back to the home screen, and receive a new text, my normal text message sound plays. However, when I send a text and lock the phone, without going back to the home screen, if the same recipient texts me back, it will play a sound that is barely audible. It wont even notify me of a new text. I will see that I received a message if I randomly look at my phone. I should add that my normal text sound is the bell, and the barely audible sound is the one where you receive a message as you have the SMS app open. Big difference when you hear the two in terms of volume.Is there anyway to have it notify me with the same sound, rather than the barely audible sound when my phone is locked? iPhone iPhone OS 3.1.3

I tried restoring. It works for about 10 minutes until my iphone freezes and then the sound functions dont work. I tried restoring all settings to default. It isnt a headphone, bluetooth, or volume problem. Also, the play function on my iphone and Youtube doesnt work. Voicemail doesnt work either. speaker doesnt work too but everything else works fine. The other person cant hear me and I cant hear them. Phone rings and I still can dial. Are they related? Lost purchases when restoring phone iPhone 3G

Hi im a first time poster and need help, now im not that good with itunes on the computer but i plugged my phone in the other day for the new download and something went wrong and it needed to restore the phone~~heres where my problems start!!!Firstly my husband and i have different login accounts on itunes but payment always comes from mine however its only his apps that show on the screen, no matter who is logged in???? so on the back up all my apps were lost and his were put back on the phone! I have had my iPhone for about 6 months and have never added any custom ringtones. I have my ringtone set to Marimba. Out of the blue about 2 weeks ago the Alarm ringtone started playing when I got a call even though it is still set to Marimba. Once this starts, I have to turn off the phone and restart - this works for awhile then the Alarm ringtone kicks in again which is really loud and obnoxious, particularly when I am at work. ive read the post on the various 3G volumne issues. I have the original iphone - when i place calls, i cannot hear the person even though they can hear me. When i receive calls, i can hear them but it is not that much better. this only started happening recently. I have had my Iphone for a week or so and I can not get individual ringtones for each contact to work. The guy at the ATT store was kind enough to transfer my contacts from my old Razr. I downloaded a ringtone last night,checked and it worked fine.But now when i get a call there is no ring just vibrate.If i get a call with the ringtone set to standard i can get that ringtone as selected.But if i switch to purchased ringtone there is no ringtone just vibrate.Even when i press on a standard ringtone tune i get the selected tune.If press purchased there is nothing.Any you boffins any idea. iPhone OS 3.1.3

volume Vibrate Wonky 3.1.3 update iPhone 3G

Hello. I currently have an iPhone 3G. It has been fully submerged in water once. Thankfully, after the rice trick, I successfully managed to salvage my iPhone. It works completely fine. Still, to this day, I am amazed. Until I updated to Update 3.1.3. Then, things got really wonky. For instance, I would feel the iPhone vibrate go off. The switch was not on, it showed no orange dot. So, after that, I went home, got the thing out of my pocket, and now, the freak show started. I took it out of my pocket, and then on the home screen, It was rapidly switching back and forth from the silent mode to the ringer on mode. I didnt touch the switch at all. I am not one of those people who plays with it all the time, switching it on and off. Still, I did submerge it in water, so I hard-resetted it, didnt turn it back on, and took it apart. Nothing seemed wrong with the internals. I put it back together and booted it, normal boot, nothing fancy. So that problem seems to be fixed. Then, the volume rocker started having the same problem, but it stopped. So both buttons worked until now, which it wont go down in volume. I had just hard rebooted again, and it still has the same problem. Booted, volume went way down, put it in sleep, unlocked it again, same thing. Please give me some advice. Even if you dont have an exact solution, anything is welcome. At least if you have the problem post that you have the problem. Is it the hardware? Is it the software? It would be nice to be able to take two steps without my Apple supplied headphones popping out of my ears. Hi, does anyone know how to mute the text message alert tone while you on a call with the iphone 3gs? Having it go off at full volume while u have the phone to your ear is really irritating. surely it should readjust the same your ringtone does when you have a call waiting? Weird Happenings Screen blinks or goes black ringer volume icon appears iPhone 3G

For the past four months or so: Randomly, the ringer volume icon will appear on the screen (without my touching the button on the side of the phone) while I am scrolling through a document or something else on the screen.For the past week:Randomly, the screen goes black and an Apple icon with a capacity bar appears.Randomly, the screen blinks back and forth between the regular screen and the above mentioned black screen with Apple icon and capacity bar.The first time this happened, I pushed the button on top to turn the screen on - screen just went black with the Apple icon and capacity bar.The second time this happened, I turned the MobileMe sync feature for the calendar on - this time the screen did the blinking thing.I called Apple Care twice and was told to go and swap it out at the Apple Store. When I got there, the Rep doubted me and I agreed to keep my phone with the idea that if I can reproduce the problem (his words) then I could bring it back for a replacement.So my question - has anyone experienced this or at least heard of it? Any ideas on what it could be? Any ideas on how to fix it? Personalized Ring Tones Not Working iPhone

I have several ringtones assigned to differing individuals. Recently two things have happened: 1) the picture associated with the person appears, but not on the whole screen like it used to; just in a small square at the top. and 2) the persons specific ringtone no longer rings...just the tone I have assigned to generic calls. The ring tones are honestly obtained and paid for. They are attached to the particular contacts and they work when attaching. But they arent working when the individual calls. Ideas? I downloaded a ringtone from the ITunes store on my phone (3g) it was the first time I had done it and I set it as my main ringtone. After 2 days it stopped working and is no longer showing up on my phone. However when I synced my phone to my computer it showed up under my ringtones in ITunes, but its still not showing up on my phone. After the sync a message also popped up saying I was not authorized to play this particular song on my phone and Im not sure why? Ringer volume screen appears at every touch of iphone.

Hello all.I upgraded to 3.1.3 today, which was the first time I noticed this particular issue. I have a 3G 8GB phone.Basically now when I unlock the phone, any time I touch the screen to do anything, the ringer volume window pops up and slides itself to full volume. If I hold the side button down, the volume goes down, but as soon as I release it slides itself back up to max.Even the motion detection triggers the ringer volume screen. If I set it down on the table.. up pops the screen.I was also having an issue with the do you want to turn the phone off screen popping up all the time.. but thats another story I guess.Alex Dual 2.8ghz Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Silent override setting for only certain people iPhone

There is one thing stopping me from buying an iPhone and Im really hoping somebody has a fix for me. On my Blackberry, Im able to assign a ringtone and volume to certain people...making it possible to switch my phone to silent when I go to sleep, and only 2 people will wake me up if they call. I work nights and am on call. I CANT buy an iPhone until this is possible :0( Windows XP
