I got an iphone 4 from a relative from another country and when I try to activate it with an AT&T and T-Mobile sim, it would say SIM Not Valid. Hello everyone.. I'm very confused here; I own an iPhone 5 which I have on O2. I bought it outright from the Apple Store in Belfast and just transferred my Business Sim to a Nano Sim and use that in the phone. I am going to the USA soon (Miami) to be a leader at a Summer Camp for 9 weeks and need to use my iPhone while I'm over there. I have been researching AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verzion all for prices, but I'm still very confused.. I want to call back to the UK for a low price, as well as use the web for WhatsApp and FB messenger etc. Will not be texting back to the UK. I need to know the answer to these questions: 1. When I put my O2 sim into my iPhone (which was bought sim free) does it lock to O2?2. What carriers will support the UK iPhone 5 for LTE? Would like to try this feature out as Northern ireland hasn't been hit with this yet (probaby never will until 2040 ffs) I understand Verzion will not work as it is CDMA.3. What carrier would be most suited for using in Miami? 4. What would the best price plan be (e.g. is there such thing as a Sim-Only monthly rolling contract or prepaid plans with only sim cards?) Hi all. I've already tried asking this elsewhere, but haven't really had much luck with help other than "it has to be a hardware issue". So, here goes. Note: it is far out of the warranty date, plus it's physically damaged. I have an iPhone 4 (16, I think) that was working aside from cracks in the screen. I saw it working a few months ago and it was given to me (it hasn't been used since). When I turned it on, it showed the iTunes and usb cable (indicating it needed restoring) so I tried restoring it (invalid build error I think). I kept trying again and again but got the 16xx error a few times. I have tried two different computers, different OSs, (one that didn't even ever have itunes installed) and I keep getting the same -1 error at the very very end of the restore. Early on, I was able to get it to boot and get to a passcode screen but then it said the iPhone needs to be restored after I unlocked it. It's almost like it's restoring fine and then suddenly it doesn't verify at the end with apple's servers or something. My apartment's wifi goes through an isp with security of some sort, I'm sure. Could that be an issue? I feel like it almost restores it but then it fails right at the end. Here is one of the logs--this one is the latest -1 error. It is abridged since most of it wouldn't fit. I have iphone 4 with iOS 5.1.1 which is locked to O2 ireland but now it has been unlocked by company (O2 through apple), they have told me through email to connect my iphone to itune and use the Restore button to unlock the iphone for any network. I am presently in Pakistan and do not have the O2 SIM. I wanted to know that if I restore my iphone will it upgrade the iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6 and will it again ask for the Original SIM to activate the iphone after rebooting. I am not using the restore option till now just because I dont have the original (or any) O2 SIM. I bought a refurbished iphone last weekend. I got my sim cut and it worked fine (I'm on o2 ireland). Then i took out the sim to transfer my contacts from my old phone and when i put it back in the iphone it says either "invalid sim" or "no service". The sim still works in my old phone and o2 said that its not locked and the fact that it worked once means it always should. They said something might be wrong with the aerial? Any ideas? should i just call apple support or is there anything else i can do?

Al though i bought my iphone and paid nearly 600 euros 1 year ago from meteor in ireland, after half an hour the phone kept reseting, when i took it back to meteor they told me ''not our problem, sort it out with apple'' 2 days later i left ireland to go to budapest and there at the apple store they replaced the phone twice as the first replacement was also faulty, when i arrived home and introduced the sim card i realised that meteor had sold me a locked phone, and now to unlock it they want me to pay another 150 euros, wich i belive this to be a thieving atitude, so if anyone can help me factory unlock my iphone i would be very gratefull

Hello guys, my iPhone 4 is supposed to be factory unlocked - and it works with all German carriers - I also checked one sim-card from ireland, which also worked. However, I can't activate the iPhone with a Chinese sim-card or Thai sim-card. The error message "sim not valid" shows up. I tried those two sim-cards with an iPhone 4S of a friend (also factory unlocked), and both worked perfectly. My assumption is that my iPhone is only unlocked for European carriers? Is this possible? And if yes, can I fix this issue somehow? Thank you for your help!

after updating to IOS 5.1 on my 4s & "my number" in -settings>phone>my number is wrong & is wrong above all contacts also, under the imessages & facetime sections in settings my correct number is showing. i've turned off & on both imessages & facetime to no avail.I moved from 02 ireland to 3 in november & had an 083 number for 1 day, When my number was ported I turned imessages on-off & it then changed "my number from 083 to my old 02 number.However since IOS 5.1 this isnt working!!! Anyone have same problem or a solution??

My iphone 4 is not responding. When I plug into wall to charge it says plug into itunes (unknown IMEI and iccid) and then when I plug into the computer it is not recognizing and is unresponsive. I've tried turning off and restarting. The store replaced the SIM card and nothing! Is this serious enough to send away for fixing? Any other suggestions might be helpful.

Hi, Firstly I have been onto Apple support but there first attempt failed to fix problem, just suggested things I had done already and as she had no 4S to hand wasnt much use. I have another call scheduled for Wed am as a Bank holiday weekend here in ireland. 1) Straight out of the box my 32 GB 4S Black had no sound on alerts, apps and ipod. From Vodafone ireland.The volume rocker only diplays the speaker icon but no level boxes beneath. When I switch to silent the actual volume level will briefly display when I use the rockers. The volume display on the bottom of the home screen only shows the outline and the speaker outline but the blue level line and silver circle are missing. With headphones everything works perfectly and all displays work. The phone function, and alarm, works and all displays and volume controls work. Works fine with Bluetooth to my car. 2) The lifetime call time usage is 7 days 15 hours and I have made only a 5min call! My friend's 16 gb white 4S works perfectly and shows correct usage times so not sure what going on here? I am sure it is not a setting, restore problem as everything has been tried. I restored and setup phone both thru iTunes and iCloud. I also set it up as a new phone but still nothing. No keyboard clicks at any stage. Bit disappointed as my 3GS had the resetting problem and as we have no Apple store in the ireland no direct access to a genius bar :-( I look forward to any ideas anyone may have and will let you know what happens Wed in case others have the problem Many thanks and Happy Halloween Rachel

Hi, after using the phone for several hours my carrier crashes and after i reboot my device i get to see the iTunes logo and when i press the sign it shows;IMEI: UNKNOWNICCID: UNKNOWNWhen i reconnected the iPhone several times, iTunes will activate the phone. Right everyone knows what I am talking about basically I have WIFI in my house all the time while I am here but I have read it switches off WIFI while it goes into sleep mode and reverts back to 3G but guess what it is sending data while I am asleep? I am Pre-Pay and even though its 30c or 50c I wake up in the morning is gone its really annoying me as Vodafone are charging me and I am clearly not using it,I have PUSH Turned off, I have left the Location thing on as that using the Gps which I dont think ever will connect to 3G, I have no mail set up on it etc...If I turn off 3G like some people suggest or Cellular Data that turns off the ability to receive a standard picture message if someone sends me one which whats the point of the iPhone4?People have also said it connects to send analyticss to Apple at night time but why and what for? I did click when I registered allow to send information to Apple etc but I thought that was there and then not when ever it feels like it,If this continues to happen I am afraid I will have to take the Sim out of the iPhone 4 and use it in AIRPLANE MODE All the time so basically I just have an iPod...ANY ADVICE?It would be great if other Irish users could reply and let me know your story also... iPAD iPhone4 Windows 7

iPhone 4 displays Connect to iTunes screen but iTunes wants its passcode
My iPhone 4 displays the connect to iTunes screen, and apparently does not know its IMEI and iccid codes when the i icon is selected. So I connect the phone to iTunes and get: iTunes could not connect to the iPhone iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter the passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.There isnt a place to enter the passcode on the iPhone, because it continues to display the connect to iTunes screen. I know it still has part of my data because when I go to the emergency call screen, it displays my normal background. Any suggestions? iPhone 4 iOS 4
