My iphone 4 is not recognising any apple chargers/docks and is saying charging is not allowed with this accessory. My phone has since run out of battery and is still not recognising any charging appliances I have. im losing my mind can any one advise? Thanks!
Everytime I need to charge my iPhone 4, I plug it into my computer and it charges. But today it just won't. It keeps showing a message saying charging isn't supported and the computer acts like I'm unplugging and plugging the phone back in. The cord seems fine, I just have no clue why it's doing this. Any ideas?
I just dropped my phone a couple days ago & completely shattered my screen.. I asked iPhone repair places & they're charging 230$ for just a screen replacement. I heard that if I take my phone to apple I can get a new one for the price I would be paying for just a screen replacement? A brand new phone for just 230$ without apple care?
My iPhone 5 stopped charging around 2 weeks ago, I have bought new plugs and cables but still get nothing when it's plugged into the mains or USB. Has anyone else had this issue?
Good Afternoon, ive recently started up my own business fixing mobile phones - mostly cracked screens and chassis replacements. Just recently i thought id got a bargain on ebay regarding an iphone 4. It was described as working correctly, can make / receive calls and send texts etc but randomly locks up. Ive got the phone today, unfortunately its locked to the 3 network so ive got a micro sim on the way so I cant actually proceed further at this point. Although it did crash once on me when i tried to select language's etc - had to hold the home and power button down until it turned off. Ive read on the forums that this is a common fault, and can occur to any iphone - faulty or otherwise. And the main concensus seems to be to take it back to the store for a swap. My main question is - seeing how im likely to come across this fault again - is the fault software or hardware related? If its hardware related what circuit board is likely to be the culprit? If we could identify the problem then im sure I could just order the required part on ebay. The fact that apple havent recalled the iphone and that they will accept these faulty iphone's back and swap for new suggests to me its an easy fix - its just easier for the technicians to go in the store room and get a brand new one. Secondly ive just got another iphone 4 white - bought cheap as its totally dead. Tried a new battery and still nothing. Got a new dock / charging connector on the way - is it likely to be this at fault? Doesnt seem to be any sign of water damage, and it wasnt described as this on the ebay page. When id swapped the new battery over i tried to charge the phone ( to see if id fixed it ) and it got extremely hot - so i disconnected right away and left it to cool off. Whats likely to be the issue with that one? Thanks, and hope someone can help Adam
Greetings, My i4 developed yet another problem in the series (previous issues concerned home button, power button and camera module)... Two nights ago, I had the phone plugged in the PC, in order to make backup, syncronize with iTunes, change music etc etc... It took around an hour, maybe hour and a half, and I was surprised to see that the battery (which was not even close to flat) reached only about 70%. Shortly after I unplugged the phone, the battery dropped to 50%. That night I forgot to plug it in again, and I spent the whole day yesterday saving the battery. Later that day, I got home and plugged it in immediately. 2 hours later, the battery was still on 14%. I left it "charging" for the whole night, just to find out that this morning, it was still on 14%. While checking emails and stuff, the indicator "jumped" to 16%, but then dropped to 10%. Now it shows 3% eventhough it's still connected to the computer. There is a battery indicator on the lock screen, which means that it doesn't refuse the charger, but somehow the battery refuses to be charged. The indicator in the upper right corner shows "plug in" symbol, as if it has been charged, not a "thunder" as if it's still charging. I tried cleaning both the dock connector and the cable, I tried different cables, I tried charging from the wall socket and from various PCs, but nothing seems to work. Everything else seems fine though. Battery dead and needs replacing, or is it something more "fruttier"? Thank you!
I usually charge my iphone5 with usb connected to laptop. past few days, i got a call while charging the phone with usb. I raised the phone to speak, as soon as it touched left ear, I got a decent electric shock. The shock was pretty powerful. I ignored it first time, but after that, the same happened about 5-6 times. Now I do not speak while connected to usb. But I think this is not a normal behaviour of an iphone since other phones do not shock the user. Can someone help me?
Last night the screen of my phone 4 slowly went black. I tried charging it while hard resetting it but that did not help. also tried just resetting it but nothing with that either. I tried to chat with Itunes but couldn't becasue I cannot get the serial number. I do not have an sd tray nor can I use the screen. It is not printed on the back of the device not is it connecting to Itunes so I can get it from there.
Im having issues charging my iPhone 4S. First noticed it this week on my car charger and assumed the charger broke as I was able to charge at home. I then used my home charger and I noticed that it wasnt charging both my phone nor my new iPad. Is this an issue with the charger or phones?
Have searched thru the posts and have done practically everything I could find and suggusted (inlcuding upgrading, a full reinstall of itunes and a simple reset of iphone (vs a restore which I cannot do as phone doesnt show in devices) . .but still no go . . This is also happening with my wife's iphone 5 so this is not personal to my phone. Please Help!!
I dropped my phone into the toilet. I got it out as quickly as possible, but it did get submerged. When I got it out, the screen turned on by itself, but I didn't think much of it, and I stuck it in rice for a few hours. When I went to check on it, it seemed fine, as the screen turned on and all the buttons seemed to be working, other than being slightly laggy. The volume buttons worked, but the didn't seem to do anything to the volume. The speakers worked as well, and even the vibrating part did. the lagging didn't get any better though, so I decided to see if reseting it would work. It turned off fine, and the apple symbol came up, but that was where it stopped, and it now will not turn on. I checked the LCI in the headphone jack and the charging slot, and the one in the headphone jack has a tiny pinkish-red dot, and the one in the charging slot doesn't look red at all. I stuck it back into the rice just in case. Can anybody help with my situation?Just some info, up until I put my phone into the rice the first time, I was mostly in full panic mode, and even after I put it in the rice, I kept checking to see if it worked by pressing the sleep button. I'm pretty sure I did everything I'm not supposed to do, but what can I say?
charging is not supported with this accessory messsage?
My phone won't power on. I tried holding down the power & home button for minutes at a time. Tried charging with multiple charges from multiple outlets and sources. The apple advice is telling me to upgrade the software on my phone. How am I supposed to do this if the phone won't turn on? Am I missing something here?
I had a story about not charging iPhone. PHcharge my iPhoneI insterday evening (Philippine Time). But it charged less than 1 second. It running out. I plug it anywhere but it not worked. I had to check the battery bar, i found that my iPhone is depleted fast. I checked the LCI but it white. I tried anything:A. Charged for at least 15 minutesB. Turn on and off the iPhone.C. Restart the iPhone.D. Plug it to the computer. But it failed. I will need to seek repair on repair shops? I don't attempt to repair this iPhone. I'm scared about this iPhone is not charging. I received a refurbished iPhone 4 under the 1year apple warranty. My home/power button became stuck, so I went to the vzw store and was told that it was a manufacture defect. I received refurbished phone and sent other phone back. I got my bill and now they charging 299.00 for a damage fee, WHY???My phone has never been out of its case and I know it's not my fault that the button got stuck. I know I'm not paying for no damage fee when the damage had nothing to do with me! Guess ill find new phone carrier cause this is a big boat load of b.s,!!!!!

hey! i upgraded to an iphone 5 in october 2012. ive always had the iphones and never had a problem with them before. however, this phone has decided it no longer wants to charge, at first i thought it was the usb so i brought a new one for it. but it didnt charge it either. i have tried using different sockets ive even used my dockinstation but nothing works. the phone is all up to date and shows a message stating 'this accessory is not meant for charging' , anyone else having the same problem?
My iPhone 4 isn't charging and I wondered if it is a common problem, it's only a year old as I bought it from the Apple Store in New York. I've tried different leads incase it's a problem with that but they work on my iPad....help what do I do?
Hi,I am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue & can provide a fix or offer advice on why this is happening? I have an iphone 4s & very happy with is. However. when the battery % lever reaches 20% the phone 'switches' off - if I connect the charge cable the battery indicator says 1% & charging. Yet if I then hold the power button to swich the iphone on, it says 21% & charging. Any idea why this is happening & how I get the battery to show correct value. On an aside - it charges fine to 100% and iphone is overwise fine. Thanks, T
I dropped my iphone 5 in water. The touch screen is not working, but its charging and im getting all my texts & notifications. I brought it four months ago without apple care. What can i do to fix it and if there cost what the estimate ?
Hey there, my iPhone 4 won't connect or charge while its connected to my computer..it won't come up that its charging or anything. But when I plug it into my dock or a wall charger,it works and chargers just fine. I need to connectmy phone to my iTunes so I can update more music..Someone please help me!Thanks
There seems to be a lot of people out there dropping their Iphone in the bath so I thought I would share my experience of fixing mine.Firstly if its in warranty consult your dealer - if this doesn't help try the following: A lot of people say stick it in bags of rice / silicon, etc but here is a quicker, more reliable way which is far less likely to contaminate one of the connectors. You do not need any special equipment. Make sure phone is off (If you can still see the screen) - hold sleep and Home for 5 seconds and tap the red off button that appearsPop your oven on a low heat ( less than 100C) for 5 minutes.Wrap your phone inside a sock, doubled over a couple of times so the phone is well protected.Turn oven offPop phone into oven for 30 minutes or longer preferably You could use a hairdryer but be very careful to keep it moving to avoid any localised heat spots that could damage components. If the phone got really soaked you might want to jump down to taking the phone apart - if it is still full of water powering up or charging could result in further damage Let the phone cool and try to power up, if nothing happens check for any signs of water vapour still in the phone and repeat if present. Otherwise try charging and powering up Still no success? this step requires a very small crosshead (some need a 5star) screwdriver, don't compromise and try and use a larger one, damaged screws will cause you even more expense. Very cheap on ebay. Unscrew the 2 small screws at the bottom next to the speaker, slide the back up and lift away. Unscrew the very small screw holding the battery connector in place and pry up the connector (lift the side nearest the edge first). Be careful not to lose the screw or the small metal bracket under the connector. Use the plastic tab sticking up half way along the battery to ease the battery out (usual there is a small amount of glue on them). This will reset the phone (you will not lose anything but the phone will hopeful power up when the battery is replaced). This is a good time to try the drying procedure again to ensure there is no more moisture present. Reconnect the battery screw everything back in place and press the wake button. If this has not succeeded you may need specialist help to test more components.Good luck ( and I cannot stress enough - keep the temperature low when drying)
I am taking my iPhone overseas. Will any electric converter work, or is there a specific type I need to protect my phone when charging?
My iphone 4s wonnt accept charge and its at 0%, my warranty expired and I am wondering if changing the battery would fix it? I have tried restarting it and all that. (If its not the battery what part is it?) When I try to charge it, it says its charging, and I cannt get past that.

My iPhone 5 is barely 2-3 months old, a couple of days ago it stopped charging yet it was plugged in, it never died either. Today I had it plugged in for a few hours and suddenly I unplugged it and it died. It wont turn back on now. Help please!
The iPhone5 is less than 6 months old. After I downloaded some photos to my computer through the USB, I then needed to recharge my iPhone5. So, I removed the cord from the USB port plugged it into the adapter and then plugged into a wall receptacle. After more than 8 hours it has not charged. The symbol shows it is charged but the battery icon shows only 29% and it continues to decline when used. Any ideas on what to do other than taking it to the store. Thank you for any assistance
Hi. I have a iPhone 5. When I plug my phone In to charge it charges fine but it has to be plugged in perfectly straight. If I move or knock the charging adapter in the phone it will stop charging even though it is still plugged in the phone. The adapter seems like it only can be charged when it is in a certain position. This is obviously a fault. It is not my adapter as I have tried several different ones. There must be something wrong with the charging port on the iPhone. What I would like to know would this be coved under apples warranty?

Which one better, charging iphone 5 on the power on or Off?
HeyI'm wondering that does overcharging the iphone 5 battery or leave it charging all night effects on the battery ??Because I really use the iphone and I usually charge it at night The battery is really good at this time (usually 8-10 hours usage) But as I said I was just wondering because I have BatteryDoctor and it said that I must not leave it charging after it's full.Thank you
My iphone tunred off and it won't turn back on. I have tried charging it, I have tried holding both buttons for 5 minutes at a time. It still does nothing. I've tried going to chat with apple service but i need to turn on the phone to see my serial number to get to that. I'm stuck can anyone help?
In the past few nights, my phone would charge if I had the cord in exactly the right place, but as soon as I touched it in the slightest, it would stopped charging. It did one of those charge, no charge things where it recognizes it for a second, vibrates to tell you it's charging and then stop and then start over again (lots of vibrates). Every once in a while I would get a "charging is not supported by this accessory" notifications even though I'm using my factory-produced cord and adaptor. Then last night it stopped recognizing USB cords altogether. I tried two different cords, two different adaptors, three different outlets, and plugging it into my laptop. Nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions or have encountered similar problems? I would really like to be able to charge my phone before it dies. Thanks. Jason
My iphone 4s decided it was at 80% then it dropped down to 1% and shut off and has been sitting on the charger for quite some time and still hasnt charged..
When iPhone 5 is plugged in/ charging, touch screen isn't accurate, doesn't respond properly, doesnt let me type sometimes.
I installed a latest iOS 6.1.4 update on my phone yesterday. Since then my iphone stopped charging (wall charger) for no apparent reason. The USB on my laptop is not recognizing it and not charging it. Can you please help me sort this issue and fast ? Regards, Reena
My iPhone 5 is plugged into a working charger (just used it to charge my iPad 3). The battery icon shows that the phone is charging, but the "percent charged" number does not change from 48%. Any idea as to what's going on?
My cable never charges in one position and is intermittent in the other. Is this a common problem , dirt or component failure? How good is Apple at standing behind this cable?
Haven't had my iPhone for long (around November for my birthday) and for about the last couple of weeks recently I have had major trouble with the battery charge. At first I thought it was the cables, so I got new one after new one and they'd work but then stop working. Until the last one I just purchased, it pretty much stopped charging the phone straight away. No lightening or sound response, no connection via computer etc. So, when my charge ran out I still had it plugged into my computer and now my phone only chargers when it's off when it's plugged into a USB port (bear in mind, it doesn't connect to iTunes-it says USB is unrecognized although it still chargers the phone when off). However, it charges fairly quickly when off but when in use the charge diminishes just as quick as it takes to charge. Not only that but now whenever I wish to turn my iPhone off, it turns itself back on. I have recently sent off my phone to the Apple store to have it checked over and it came back to me saying they couldn't reproduce the symptons I had mentioned so there was me thinking everything was fine but nope, still faulty. So a bit disappointed with paying £7.00 for delivery to have nothing been done about it (not only that, but the phone as also out of charge when returned so it just seemed like my phone wasn't looked over one bit). Also a bit disappointed and annoyed at the fact I'm still paying for my monthly contract for the phone when I am unable to use it!!! I haven't damaged the phone (it basically looks brand new) and haven't exposed it to any liquids. The USB port on my phone where I charge it seems clear too. The annoyance of having to send it back to Apple costing me more money is offputting so does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to my local 3 store to see if they can help me out but I'm just a bit fed up now. Can see this is a popular problem amongst other iPhone users too. Many thanks! (Oh and need to add I HAVE updated everything on my phone, restored everything, restarted etc.)
i dropped my phone in water months ago. everything was fine with it until recently the battery life is shocking. and then lastnight it was on charge alnight and wont charge up - it just displays the charging screen HELP
Spyware is very easily accessible and requires nothing from the Apple store, and although I realize some of these posts are several years old-at this point, it is simply misinformation. All one needs is a similar program to the one in the link above and not only can your sms messages be accessed, your calls be intercepted and recorded, but the camera in your phone can be remotely accessed and activated at any given time without your knowledge. As you tap away on your handy little iPhone you love so much, in whatever possibly "compromising" or embarrassing position you may be in at the time, a creeper can be looking you straight in your face or observing your enviornement at their leisure. Imagine the horror in finding out that you were sitting there on the toilet gaming and someone was watching you the whole time or better yet, while you were involved in an intimate interaction while your phone sat charging on a dock on the nightstand next to the bed? How about knowing that every incoming and outgoing communication is recorded and documented for the creep to scroll and read through like a book? This is some scary stuff, and it's been used on me via an encrypted picture message. I've done a full restore of my iPhone and the pc used for backing up via iTunes to ensure that the spyware wasn't then rooted into the pc or the iTunes, and was even told to create an etirely new Apple ID, but aside from this and there being no true scanning software for malware, spyware or viruses for the iPhone-how can I be sure that this encrypted software has truly been eradicated? Is there an antiviral program that I am unware of? I'm not looking for a secure AVG browser, I'm looking for a detect and destroy scanner program. <Link Edited by Host>
Okay, i recently bought an Iphone 4 which is locked to the Three Network, the previous owner has a cap on his account that cannot exceed £34 and so im left without a working phone. Is there anyway to get it unlocked without charging it to his account or just phone up and get it unlocked?
My iphone 4s does not connect to my charger. I have to unplug it and plug it in several times for it to recognize it. I'm not sure if its the connected on my phone or maybe something else pleaseeee help
I got my iphone 4s a little less than two weeks ago and I am getting 4 hours of use and 4 hours of standby before my battery is almost dead. It also gets hot while charging or sometime while just texting people. I took the phone to my local sprint store and they tested the battery and said it was fine. I really don't see what else I can do. I turned siri off. I don't have many apps at all. I even exit them all out constantly every few minutes. I've tried everything anyone has said to try and help it but no luck. I don't even get service in my house so I'm rarely ever on the phone (maybe a combined total of 1 hour since I have had the phone) and the only texts I send are to people that have imessage because those can be sent with wifi. I really don't want to have to send my phone to apple and wait. But because the test showed nothing, sprint will not give me a new phone. What can I do?
My friend has an iPhone5 and the screen cracks while charging, after the crack the home button totally broke down. She took the phone to the carrier and they told my friend that this case is off warranty and she needs to pay for it!!! the phone itself didn't have a single scratch!!! Can anyone help me please? Thank you.
I had a local repair store diagnose the sudden death of my iPhone 4 to continuous charging. As per the details I received, it is not advisable to leave the phone connected to the power supply longer than required to charge the battery 100%. The repair workshop has got the phone up and running after replacing an IC, as well as correcting a loose battery connector. Wonder if anyone else encountered the above. Best, wirefree
Hey all, I have an iPhone 5, obviously less than a year old, and am having a really strange problem. Two days ago, I was able to charge my phone, sync it, everything like it was normal. Yesterday, it decided it won't charge. When the phone is dead, and I plug it in it has the normal charging screen and will get to 5% like usual. But then, there is no charging battery, and my phone charges SUPER slow. For example, yesterday I plugged in my phone at 3:50pm with 1%, and when I unplugged it (never used it while charging) it was 9:15pm and 34%. Continuing to charge it from then has resulted it up to 50% now. When it's plugged into my computer (Windows 7 Professional), I get a notification that says the USB device has malfunctioned. So I know from this and the very slight charging that it shouldn't be the cord, there is still communication between the two. I haven't updated my phone to the latest settings (it's on 6.0.2) and I'm struggling to try to update it now. I also don't want to Reset all Settings due to some of my photos and videos that I need to save and I don't want those deleted. What do I do? How do I go about fixing this situation? It really shouldn't be a battery since it's a decently new phone. It's been handled great and there is no damage to it and no drops. Help!
My third attempt to fix my iPhone 4s. I've gone through two phones calls, three associates, and one Tech. support supervisor. The only thing said to me was "I cant do anything". I've explained my problem, as thorough as possible but the only option was to purchase a replacment for $200. I've restored my phone multiple times with zero effect, each with a clean restoration of iOS 6.1.3. If there is a solution to this problem I will greatly appreciate it.
