My iphone 3g has no service and i know its not a imei block. I can get it working if i insert my sim into another phone then insert my sim back into my iphone. However if i reboot iphone or turn of 3g or turn on airplane mode i get no service. Any suggestions. And also i have another iphone thats locked to a certain network but i dont know what network its on, any way of finding out. Custom Built Windows 7
Let me first mention, for the most part, I absolutely love the iPhone 4. I previously owned the 3G and 3GS. But Ive dropped more calls with the iPhone 4 that I have with the previous versions (3G & 3GS). The whole reason I switched to AT&T five years ago, is that there is a cell tower not more than one block away from me (I can look out my window and see it), I remember about a year ago there was a problem with the iphone 3G phone dropping calls when you are on 3G network, I never had that problem. And on my previous iPhones I always had full signal strength no matter where I was in the house and almost never dropped a call. I know in the version 4.0.1 it changed how it calculates the signal strength, now I only get three bars at best. As I mentioned I live next to the cell tower, seriously I should not have this problem! Of course I got numerous other problems with the new iOS 4.0.1, same problem everyone else been experiencing on this discussion board (syncing with Microsoft exchange, Bluetooth, and devices not being recognized, etc). Until Apple fixes these problems, hopefully it’s a software fix. I would like to switch back to my iPhone 3G, but I upgraded it to iOS 4, and would like to go back to 3.1.2. “It worked”. Ive read various different articles on how to do it, but have been unsuccessful in doing it. Any suggestions? 3G iOS 4 Downgrade to version 3.1.2
Upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.0.1 and have had dropped calls ever since. Never had dropped calls before. Messaging, emails and internet are fine, but all calls are dropped, even with 5 bars! The only constant is that Ive been on the 3G network when the calls dropped, so I turned it off and have been on the Edge network for a few days without issue!I have hard-reset my phone at least a dozen times and even restored my phone. I do not have bells & whistles installed. Is this a traffic issue on the 3G network? I live in Hawaii, where there arent tall buildings to block my signal.ugh. 3GS iOS 4
Please help! My Iphone got stolen, i would like to know if there is any way to block the phone, so the person who got it cant even use the camera, see my pictures, hear music or acces my emails, etc...is there anyway besides only canceling the number???
1) Podcasts jitter sometimes if simultaneously using the phone for other purposes.2) Sometimes phone calls refuses to play the sound through ear-piece, but during call will happily let me switch to the external speaker. Switching back to the ear-piece during the call still doesnt produce any sound. End the call & call again & the ear-piece will work fine.3) Apps that opened the first time they were selected on iOS 3.1.x now sometimes partially open & then shutdown again, & have to be re-opened before they will work.4) Some photos taken with the 3G camera while still on iOS 3.1.x that are still in the camera roll only display as a solid-black block in the album view in iOS 4.0.1. When clicked on, the photos do still display correctly.5) Safari more often than not does not open up a new URL completely the 1st time. The progress bar starts showing progress, & then Safari sticks & eventually shows the page was not available. However, every single time this happens, if I press the refresh button then Safari opens up the URL just fine. This happens when I am on 3G & on my corporate WiFi.6) Sometimes if I am listening to a podcast, my phone will not ring for an incomming call but will instead show it as a missed call.Issues others have reported:7) Battery life is far shorter than iOS 3.1.x.8) Overall response on device is EXTREMELY slow. Unlocking screen, opening apps, closing apps. 3G iOS 4 iOS 4.0.1

I am receiving unwanted text messages from an ex girlfriend and would like to block the number. I have found jailbroken applications which does this but I value my apple warranty and am desperate for an unjailbroken alternative, can anyone help? Thanks! 3GS iOS 4 16G
I get a fair number of telephone spammers, I guess because I have landline calls forwarded to my iPhone. So I set up a Contact called Spam and set the ringtone to crickets, so when I hear it I know its spam. Then every time I get a spam call from a new number I add that number to the Spam Contact. Ive got about 50-60 spam numbers in that entry. Is there a limit to the number of phone numbers I can add to one Contact? Is there any way to silence an individual Contact so theres no ring and no vibrate? iPhone & Macbook Pro iOS 4
I am looking for an app (or workaround) that will enable my iPhone to block selected callers, either incomming calls or SMS. So, nothing shows up on my phone. Calls go straight to voicemail. SMS messages DO NOT pop ups. On my old Treo I could do this via app called Call Shiled. worked great. I am aware I can do this thru my carrier for a cost per number. I also aware of airplane mode. FWIW. My iPhone smartphone aint much smarter than my treo circa 2006. iPhone 3G
Is there any EASY way to save or store SMS text message conversations on the iPhone?I could only find 1 app in the app store that claims it can do this and its $5 and doesnt work very well. It just saves everything as one, big, illegible block of text. Its not much of an option. After I performed a Google search online, I found a free piece of software called Syphone that did just what I needed. Unfortunately, the developers stopped working on it 2 1/2 years ago so it doesnt work anymore.I cant believe theres not much out there when it comes to saving SMS messages. Its weird. iPhone 4 iOS 4
Hi, are there any apps yet which can block withheld calls or something similar? Is it possible to have an app that uses multitasking to run in the background and somehow interfere with the phone features to be able to handle callsIm not going top jailbreak so dont suggest iBlacklist lol 3GS iOS 4

Aaaaargghhhh...I bought a brand new O2-locked iPhone from eBay in March 2009. Everything was great - used it with a prepay O2 SIM until December, then switched to O2 Simplicity for iPhone. All fine, no problems. In March, O2 offered me the option to unlock, which I did.I went on holiday on June 23rd, to Egypt. To avoid the roaming charges I bought a prepay Vodafone Egypt SIM. The iPhone asked me to connect to iTunes. Not having my iMac with me, I connected via my little Windoze netbook. All was well and I could make/receive calls & texts.Got back to the UK and switched the phone on, still with the Vodafone SIM in it. Connected to Vodafone UK and sent a couple of texts. OK. Tried to make a call...to any number...it says Connection to this number is restricted on this phone. Please contact your customer care agentFine, I thought - must have run out of credit. So I put my O2 SIM back in...now heres where things get interesting. No request to be reconnected to iTunes. A bit odd but fine as O2-UK has appeared...but hang on, there is no signal at all just _ _ _ _ _.O2 and Vodafone UK say the phone is behaving as if blocked, but they have not blocked it. Apple say its showing as an officially unlocked iPhone on their systems and no-one has tried to block it.I have tried a restore from backup, restore as a new phone using 3.1.3 software, and finally I have tried upgrading to OS4, all walked-through with Apple. Nothing changes. When I restore the firmware I get the _ _ _ _ _ O2-UK in the top-left corner and Waiting for activation - this may take some time message. I have tried swapping in my partners standard O2 SIM. No difference. My iPhone SIM works OK in my partners Nokia 5800.I tried an Orange SIM from my daughters Blackberry, it just says No Service with no request/attempt to activate the phone through iTunes. Finally I have tried putting the Vodafone Egypt SIM back in. The iPhone immediately says iPhone is activated and I get signal and vodafone UK in the top left corner. I am unable to send texts or make calls (I get that same message) but I can receive calls & texts to the Egyptian number.Apple are pointing the finger at O2 saying my account is somehow out of order, as a different SIM works OK. O2 are pointing the finger at Apple saying the iPhone must be faulty as their SIM works in a different phone.I am pretty peed off at this point and if anyone can suggest anything, please, please, please do!!ThanksMessage was edited by: MysticEddie iMac G5, 1.6Ghz, 512Mb, 80Gb Mac OS X (10.5.8)
Its been a week since the OS4 update now, and my 3G is pretty unusable. Ive lost all my data and my phone wont restore or sync, so I have no contacts, no email, no messages and empty apps. My phone is behaving weirdly too, I keep getting texts through in a block rather than when they are sent. Ive been waiting patiently for a solution to be posted, or a new update that will help everyone that seems to be affected. Im really fed up with it now. Just wondering if anyone has heard whether or not they are actually doing something about this problem. If Ive lost my data, I can live with that, but my phone was fantastic a week ago and now its useless. Thats awful and I cant seem to get in contact with Apple (Im in the UK) without paying for it.Thanks for anyones help. Windows Vista
Hi, Sometimes when I press to copy contacts etc. it starts dialling and sometimes if it is an international call, the phone is showing the contacts page and you are shocked when you hear a hello and realise it has done an international dialling. How do I block international dialling and can activate only when required. Laptop IBM X-60
I have traveled to 12 countries with my iPhone and it always just jumps on the network right when I get off the plane. Whether im in the Eastern block (Prague) or in Thailand. NEver had a problem. Here I am in Rio De Janeiro Brazil and it says No Service. It even lists 5 carriers, and when I click on one, it says Your carrier is no longer available for each.Is there a setting buried somewhere that I need to have enabled for this to work, that I might have inadvertently disabled?Do you NEED to have international calling enabled through AT&T for the phone to hop on a local network when outside the country? I know there are a few different tiers of international fees. One is a discounted international plan, and I think the other just enables your phone for international. I could be wrong. VAIO
Has anyone had this problem? i have a 3g and have the latest software 3.1.3. one particular number is not receiving all my texts. I get no error message, the bar shows the message was sent and my friend simple does not receive all the message. it is pure random, happens any time of day, any location i am in and any length of message. sometimes as little as one a day goes missing and sometimes as much as 5 a day. Both phones have had new sim cards put in and I have even had my iphone restored (and not from a backed up version of the phone) and swapped out. the lost texts even happened when the iphone was in factor settings with no aps, music or pictures in it. I have been transferred back and forth from att and apple. trouble tickets were opened on both numbers by att and att says there is no problems with the network and that all texts are properly delivered and there is no block on either number - yet messages still get lost. weve both have removed each others contact and replaced the contact as a 10 digit number, have been taken out and put back in network and all our settings are correct according to att. both of us have not had any problems with texting other people - just each other. does anyone know why this is happening and what i can do?
is there some way to block messages from coming in while the rest of the phone is on....to prevent others using the phone to have access to messages? iPhone OS 3.1.3
Is there any way to block a call or SMS, so my iPhone does not ring, or SMS does not show up on screen, but the call goes directly to voicemail (or SMS get recieved) but it just does not have any indication at the moment. On my Treo there was a brilliant app, Call Shield that did just this and was so handy. I realize this is really 2 questions and incomming calls are 2 different things. any help appreciated.

i was on the iPhone speakerphone with my parents and suddenly this mentally troubled girl i know sends me a message consisting of a single 3 letter expletive. i get the popup saying reply/cancel i press cancel.she sends it again - i cancel it again. and again and again on like 4th time i accidentally end the call with my parents.so i am trying to call them back but at this point she starts repeating the word every second or so so i am constantly getting the popup reply/cancel so i keep pressing cancel but before the screen cancels the new popup is there and the transparent glass popup takes the entire screen so i cant access the phone buttons to call my parents back.now my parents are calling me and i am trying to pick up the phone but the crazy girl is still firing away at about 40 messages per minute.long story short i was unable to either pick up on my parents or call them back until she stopped about 2 minutes later.it was VERY frustrating ! ! !this is unacceptable. i cannot lose control of my cell phone the second somebody starts texting me !the interface must be redesigned such that the reply/cancel popup doesnt block the rest of the screen. instead it should appear as a bar on top or bottom of the screen and the rest of the screen should compress a bit so u can still go about your business while the crazy people are having a breakdown.what if i was in a car using iphone as a GPS ? i might have gotten killed.serious serious flaw ! 13" MBP Mac OS X (10.6.1)
Is there any way to block incoming calls on the IPhone 3gs WITHOUT jailbreaking? I have seen apps, but I dont want to jailbreak my phone. I have heard of a service through AA&T, but it is $5.00/mo. and gets mixed reviews. I was hoping for a simple app that would allow me to do this without messing with things to much.Any leads are appreciated. IPhone 3GS iPhone OS 3.1.3
Hi, I have 2 missed calls when i woke up this morning, and it says block calls. Ive read its not possible to block a call and I didnt install any apps to do that. Any idea how to retrieve who the caller was? or how to stop blocking? It doesnt state the phone number, just the time of call. It might be a relative overseas or something. Thanks! iPhone OS 3.1.2
Hi there everyone,I have had my IPhone 3G (Firmware 3.1.3 (7E18) ) for more than a year, and it has been working excellent despite occasional spotty ATT coverage. However, last week, I noticed that the GPS on the phone seems to be malfunctioning, and I suspect it might be a hardware issue since I had not made any software upgrades in more than a month. Everything else with the phone is working fine ( calls, apps, network data, etc )In Google Maps, I noticed that the pulsing blue dot takes a long time to figure out where I currently am, and it might even jump to 1 or 2 other random locations nearby ~1 mile away before going back to the original, and then repeating the process. Sometimes, the blue circle around the blue dot might just completely stop pulsing, and will stay there even if I start moving elsewhere. Then, it might update itself to a new location about a minute later, then stop pulsing again, and so on.I live in an area where there are no tall buildings around to block off the GPS signal. I have scoured the web on possible solutions such as restoring the phone firmware, turning off 3G, etc, and nothing works. Therefore, I suspect that this might be a hardware failure, but I really wanted to check with all of you here if you might have encountered a similar issue like this before on your iPhone 3G .Thanks!ISMessage was edited by: d2army iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3 ATT i

My wife and I are coaching our daughters baseball team. We are trying to set up a Distro list for text messages so we only need to send one instead of 11. We put all of the contacts in the contact list and put team name in the company block as suggested in an internet how-to video. When we went to send out a mass text, we put in the Company Name but no one got it. Is there a better way? IPhone 3GS iPhone OS 3.1.3

ok so i dont know how this is even possible but it seems like my bf has somehow hacked my iphone. i do have it password locked and he dont know it, and he does have an iphone also. but somehow he has been able to read my text even though i delete after i reply. it seems as though somehow hes got it set to forward to his phone or something like that. cuz he read me a conversation i had with someone off of his phone. i was like OMG. anyone know how he did this or more importantly how i can block him from doing it again?
I have just begun using the iPhone 3GS and theres one thing thats frustrating me. I cant seem to be able to block certain individual numbers. But is there a way to set a silent ringtone for all calls that come in as blocked? 3G iPhone OS 3.1.2
I have an ex-boyfriend who has been calling and texting me. I have asked him to stop, but he has not. Each time he sends a text, thats 10 cents. As you can imagine, this not only gets annoying but also will add up over time. Does the iPhone have the ability to block certain phone numbers from calling and texting you? If not, is there an app that will do so? I plan on contacting AT&T about this, but Id rather not go through all that if there is a simpler solution here. Thanks in advance! iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.2

The iPhone appears to be picking up a radio station. I believe that it is the phone because I dont hear the station when (a) I only have the headphones on, or (b) when I have the headphones on and the headset cable is attached to the headphones (but not to the iPhone). As soon as I attach the headphone cable to the iPhone I hear the radio station. It doesnt matter whether I am listening to the iPod music or, in fact, have any app running. I even hear music when the iPhone is off (standby). I hear music until I hard power down the iPhone. Then, when I turn it back on, as soon as I see the apple (before the system is fully up) I start hearing the music. I have tried two headphone sets -- one with a noise-cancelling feature and the others just cheap old headphones. No difference.I have tried turning off WiFi, even putting the phone in airplane mode. So far, nothing works.Any ideas on how to block the unwanted music? I want to use the headphones outside (to block roadwork on the street below) but obviously this is not feasible since the annoying, secondary music is playing in the background.
