Is there such a thing as an icon for new emails in the info bar at the top of the screen where the battery, bluetooth, coverage strength, etc are?All other phones that I have had have this icon and I find it very convenient. random unresponsive screen-else experience iphone

At what appears to be random times, my iphone touch screen becomes unresponsive. The home and sleep/wake buttons work, but the touch screen does not. This unresponsiveness occurs within either an app or within the main screens or when trying to answer a call. The only way to get things working again is to hit the sleep button, then home button, slide to unlock, then it is responsive again. I have reset the phone. Has anybody else experienced this? Unable to switch carrier-O2 cant unlock me iphone 3G

So, Ive been trying for 3 weeks now to get my phone unlocked / unlatched by O2 in the UK. Ive received 2 text messages telling me it is - it isnt. Ive connected to Itunes with my new Vodafone Sim in lots of times and get the following message sometimes in English and sometimes Spanish -The SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported. Ive completely restored it twice. Ive spoken to O2 who tell me its an apple problem and apple who tell me its an O2 problem. I got an app. the night before my troubles began. The next day phone was froze while displaying Installing the app. i got the night before. Every time my phone locks up and the screen goes black and I go to unlock it, I notice that I no longer have reception (only in my house). When this happens, I miss calls and text messages show up hours later. Why no iphone push button option to answer incomming calls

As I have read in quite a few threads MANNY people hate the slide to answer. I understand the phone is in standby/sleep mode, and this saves battery life. However slide to answer is not needed. When an incoming call is received the iphone is powered up to show you the slide to answer screen. All that is needed is to some new lines of code written to show the RED and GREEN (answer or decline options buttons) as when the phone is awake. I have no problem with the slide to unlock any other time, but I have lost allot of calls due to this slide to answer programing over site (wearing gloves, wet hands, Etc.). If nothing else apple could make an option on how to answer incoming calls with a push of an existing button. Like the home button for example that would be very logical.... Slide to unlock doesnt work during Incomming Calls iphone 3G

I am having a very unusual problem in my iphone. sometimes I cannot Slide to unlock the phone when I get a call. This doesnt happen always.I have to wait and press it really hard to Slide it to unlock. That too is not guaranteed to work 100 %. Once it gets unlocked then everything starts to work as normal.Have tried hard-restarting , Did a clean restore with no apps. I have also noticed that it happens frequently when it is in my pocket.I have also tried removing the screen protectors but doesnt help much. I even went to Apple store and they told that it might be due to a loose connections between the connectors. Ringer Volume screen appears at every touch of iphone.

Hello all.I upgraded to 3.1.3 today, which was the first time I noticed this particular issue. I have a 3G 8GB phone.Basically now when I unlock the phone, any time I touch the screen to do anything, the ringer volume window pops up and slides itself to full volume. If I hold the side button down, the volume goes down, but as soon as I release it slides itself back up to max.Even the motion detection triggers the ringer volume screen. I know there are many questions regarding my concern but I need a clear answer to my case. I have a 3G and like two months ago it fell by accident and the LCD went bad. I called Apple and since I had not warranty they said I should just get a new one because it will cost the same that fixing it. I qualify for a new phone with ATT but I did not want to buy a new one because the new two year contract, which I will sign when the new iphone version comes out. I decide to use my old phone but later found out that I could get it fix for $100.00 which I did. The person who fixed offered to unlock and jailbreak the phone for the same price. At first I said no, but later since the phone is out of warranty and I plan to buy a new one as soon as is available, I told him to do it so I could use the unlock one while in South America when ever I go there. The phone is working fine but I will like to update the software.The guy told me it will lock it. I do not care about the iphone being lock again, just want to be sure is possible and safe to do. Sporatic black screen today even more oddness iphone 3G

I have had a few times when I will go to unlock my phone, and the screen is black. It will not come back on, so I either have to do a hard reset or just leave it and come back to it in about 20 minutes and its working again.This has happened a few times in the last few weeks.Today it did something even more odd. I got the black screen again, the phone does not vibrate when I mute or unmute the phone as usual, so I waited and a few minutes later it came back on but when I unlocked it, it was in the text message screen. When I hit the home button to get oyut of it, the phone made the camera picture sound, and nothing happened. I tried a couple more times with the same effect. I hit the power button to lock it, then hit the home and unlocked it again and all was well.Now the odd part is the phone took a screen shot of what was on my screen at the moment. As per a previous topic, I now have the official carrier unlock applied to my iphone 3G (originally only on o2). Reason for requesting unlock is that Ive gone abroad for a month.Im having some problems with the implementation of the unlock. The first time I put the Sim in, it requested the phone be connected to iTunes, which I duly did. The phone then appeared to be successfully unlocked - and indeed, a Vodaphone NZ sim worked fine.However, when I put my phone into airplane mode, or swap to my O2 sim card and back to the Voda one, the phone then re-presents the please connect to iTunes, different SIM installed screen - and wont let me do anything until I do.Anyone got any ideas on making this unlock actually stick on the device? Help stuck in headphone mode iphone 3G

I have read and read about this topic for the last couple of hours and tried the following:1. Rebooting2. Restoring3. Cleaning the headphone jack4. Plugging and Unplugging the headphones5. Uninstalled all apps that were added and removed additional mediaWhat can I do now? I purchased the phone from someone a couple months back and it worked fine until I went to London on vacation. While I was there I was talking to my family on Skype and the sound suddenly shut off. I was shocked. I had no idea what happened. It took a couple of minutes on standby, then the phone lit up to the unlock screen and the sound was back. Now I can only use my phone for less than 5 minutes before the sound goes out again. I have to either use the speaker phone or the headset that came with it. I have not installed any apps that are out of the ordinary and I have never dropped the phone or spilled liquid on it. iphone wont recognize my S card all of sudden 3G

I turned my phone off earlier today. Then I turned it back on and all of a sudden I can only make emergency calls. The screen said Restore needed so I plugged the phone into iTunes, which then gives me an error saying that the SIM Card is not installed or it needs a password. My SIM Card does need a password (Im in Austria using T-Mobile) however when my phone boots up, I dont get an option to unlock the SIM card. this leads me to believe that the phone is not even reading the SIM card at all. Phone not unlocked after receiving your phone unlocked message from O2 iphone 3G

I have an iphone out of contract a that I have just asked O2 to unlock for me. Ive given that phone to my partner and Im now using a 3GS on contract with O2. I received a text from O2 on my 3GS to say they have unlocked my old 3G phone and I should connect it to iTunes. (Does it matter where the O2 text arrives? Does the O2 text magically do something to the iphone?)So I put a Vodafone sim card into the 3G and connected to iTunes, but nothing new is happening. No message announcing it has been unlocked. All I can do, as usual is sync it, which I did and it did a backup and sync as usual. Am I supposed to do anything extra?I rang O2 last night and the support chap there told me to make sure I was logged into iTunes as the original user that first registered the phone. I wasnt at that point, I was logged in as my partner. So I logged out of iTunes and logged in as me (on the same computer). The login process worked, my account name came up in iTunes, but once again no magic message announcing it was unlocked.What am I supposed to do here? Should I do a restore? Faulty iphone question 3G

I recently sent my iphone in for repairs due to a problem with the screen. I sent it in through my phone provider, which is Orange. The company that Orange sent my phone to responded, said that the phone was unfixable, and gave me an offer to simply replace the broken phone with a new one. The phone also no longer under warranty. I accepted this offer, paid the fee, and today, I recieved the new phone. This new phone, however, appears to be faulty, seeing as the touch screen is extremely unresponsive, and random buttons get pushed when Im not even touching the screen. On the other hand, I cant unlock the phone half the time because the slider wont work. This is definately a hardware problem, considering it is a brand new phone out of the box. The question I have is whether this new phone which I recieved is under any kind of warranty. Seeing as I already paid CHF 300 for the new phone, I refuse to pay this again consdering they sent me a faulty phone. Also, should I take the phone back to Orange, or should I phone up the repair company directly? I appreciate any help which I can get, and thanks in advance.James Toshiba A300 Windows Vista

Whenever my 3GS has been sitting idle for a short while, if I access the phone to use, I press the button at the bottom, the screen illuminates and the signal strength bars show as full. Then when I access the phone slide to unlock the bars disappear and take a long time to return, if at all. Does this happen to anyone else??? Or how do I cure this ? I recently purchased a factory unlocked i-phone from an Apple store in Australia. I am now travelling in Indonesia, however, my i-phone wont work with local SIM cards (I have tried several different carriers). I believed that my phone would work outside Australia with overseas SIMs, and wonder if there is something I need to do with itunes to unlock it for use here? At the moment, I can use the Vodafone pay-as-you-go SIM that I purchased and installed in the phone just after I bought it from the Apple store. I dont want to use this SIM while I am travelling as the calls and SMS are expensive, and I want to use a local SIM while I am here. Hi All,Ive recently requested an unlock from O2, as Im going abroad for a month soon and wish to use a different carriers Sim Card temporarily.Ive received the text back from o2, which asks me to put in the new sim card, and then connect to iTunes. My name is Andy, Im from brazil, and my iphone is acting strange.FYI, Its not jailbroken, all is working like a charm, youtube, video uploads, games, sync, and all.But yesterday, it started to show this message everytime I try to open a application with Push Notifications:http://i47.tinypic.com/2en1g21.pngTranslating to english : Connect to iTunes to use push notifications.I never saw this message before. Thinking is was a problem with other applications, I bought the iPush test application to see if works, and the results are the same. Only the message Connect to iTunes.Tried all things possible. Reset all settings, reset all settings and data, restore, setup as a new phone (And activated again over iTunes with the nice message Your iphone is activated), but without sucess I have a old 3G here too, jailbreaked to use SIM unlock and push is working perfectly, but with the virgin phone, dont. The only thing with problems, is the push notifications on new phone. Every other thing works like a charm.I cant understand what is happening. Tried to restore with a MacPro, With bombWindows 7, With a MacBook and never works.Anybody can help me? Greetings.Just yesterday, my iphone started to respond slowly, taking ages to open any default app, etc.so I restarted the device.However, during booting, the iphone cant get past Apples white logo and eventually shows up that loading circle going on...until a white flash comes in and the device reboots again...and this goes on forever and ever...I tried to restore but after it the device continues to freeze in the same way and iTunes says that my SIM Card is not recognized or requires a PIN..etc.Of course I cant enter a PIN because the device is frozen on the logo.I googled up quite a bit and tried DFU restore and the same thing. The White Apple of Death continues and the iTunes displays the SIM not recognized or insert PIN message.I bought the iphone with the official reseller in Portugal (Vodafone) and payed them to legally unlock it so I could use with my favorite portuguese operator. Plus, Ive never jailedbroken or whatever the iphone.I dont believe that this is a SIM unlocking problem (ie insert an AT&T SIM Card), because in that case the device would pass the logo and show a different msg.Ive tried to restore in a different Mac and in a different PC.I even browse through the device with DiskAid and renamed watchdog so that it allowed the SpringBoard to load everything before the 2-min deadline (Ive read about this somewhere...), but no use...Could someone please give me any lights on this?Is it an hardware issue? German iphone unlocking 3G

So, I lived and worked in Germany. I picked up an iphone 3G from T-Mobile in Germany. I went back to the US and tried to get it to transfer over to T-Mobile USA but they said it wont work unless it is unlocked and they cannot unlock it. AT&T cant unlock it as well. So, now, I have this great iphone that I cant use on any network in the US. This is stupid. Am I going to have to Jail Break my iphone to get it to work? iphone iphone OS 3.1.2 German

Can you turn off Slide to Answer iphone 3G

I have an iphone 3G. I love the phone, but the slide to answer when the phone is locked is causing me to answer calls accidentally I dont want to answer. When I unlock it to check email or search for something if the call comes in at the same time I unlock it, I just answered a call I may not have wanted to. I get a lot of calls for work and after hours I would prefer to have some down time. Is there anyway to turn this off, so that I can unlock it and if there is a call coming in I can choose to reject the call. This happens at least twice a day. Wi Fi Disabled while restoring iphone 3G with 3.1.2 Software

I am having one apple iphone 3G with me .recently I am restored the phone in Factory default settings and install the new software which is 3.1.2.Now the phone is locked and I am not able to unlock the phone,because the Wi Fi is not enabled.Showing (No Wi Fi)Please help me out on this matter,what will do for the same,please forward the message to apple forum so that any body can suggest the solution at the earliest.Please help me...Regards,Shiju Joseph iphone 3G Windows XP
