Package and product number differ iphone 5

I bought the iphone 5 from  Star One Mobile in Sim Lim Square Singpore recently. After reaching my place , just found that the  serial number and IMEI number in my iphone 5 product and the packaging box are different. When I check on the website the packaging number shows the product is replaced but the number in product shows valid. Can some one explain the difference?I did not anticipate an Apple product having a difference in serial and IMEI number  from the packaging --- probable that the Star one mobile could have changed the package?

iphone 5 Auto Brightness Switch Not Working

So I just upgraded my iphone 4 to an iphone 5 literally yesterday. Strange lil bugs I get, but... This is just freaking me out.  The phone had NO charge whatsoever when I opened it yesterday and tried to turn it on. Usually I get an iphone and its at almost full charge. Then the Brightness was already dimmed to almost nothing rather than being in the middle. I adjust the slider to light it up more and then hit the switch for Auto-Adjust Brightness... Nothing changed. At all. There's no brightness difference whether I have Auto-Adjust set to On or Off, and it's kinda hurting my eyes. Pleeeease tell me I didn't get sold a Refurbished iphone 5 as a New one at the Apple Store?!

iphone GPS programmed to stick to nearby roads iphone 4S

I have been using this app called +3 to record my rides. Since about iOS 5, i noticed the GPS on the phone started to try to stick to roads when I was going offroad. When I get more than 300 feet away from the road, the GPS suddenly corrects its position and starts to show correctly where I am. When I ride parallel to the road about 200 feet away, the GSP shows me right on the road for the whole time. It seems to me that whoever introduced this "feature" decided to not trust the GPS and let the software decide where I am instead. It seems quite irritating to me as I can't quite tell my route once recorded inaccurately. I have observed the behavior with both my iphone 4s and 5 with no difference. Has someone else experienced this with their phone?

iphone 4s battery meter unsolved mystery

I have an iphone 4S. In January, I started to notice that it would die at 30-40%. Gradually, it started to stay stuck at 100% almost all day then die around 60-70%. Then it went completely bonkers. It would go from full charge to 15% to 0% in minutes. Plug it in and it would go from 0% to fully charged instantly. I took it to Genius Bar, diagnostics showed the battery was fine and they told me to restore it and set it up as a new phone. That didn't solve the problem. Went back that day and this time, the diagnostics showed the battery was bad so they replaced it. It worked normally for a little bit before it started doing the same thing again. So I took it back and they replaced the phone. After a few weeks, the same thing happened with the new phone... stuck at 100% for a long time, dies at ~70% (keep in mind I set it up as a new phone so rule out any software issues from a previous backup of the original phone). At this point, I'm thinking it's a faulty charger or something that's screwing up the hardware. So I was back in the Apple Store again. They replicated the problem and told me to restore the phone and set it up as a new device. Having been through this before, I asked them to restore it right then and there because I knew it wasn't going to fix it. Sure enough, it happened after the restore. So they replaced the phone again. That was three weeks ago. I started using a completely different charger (Apple charger, not third-party) and even changed outlets, but the new phone is doing the same thing again. Over the weekend it died at 48%, then 50%, now 56%. I don't know what to do anymore. I can probably go get the phone replaced again, but it probably won't make a difference. Any suggestions? I've done several hard resets, tried to calibrate the battery, let it run out completely and sit there for a couple hours before plugging it back in...nothing works.

Issues after 6.1.4 update iphone 5

IS anyone else having issues after the 6.1.4 update? Here is what I have experienced in the last two days.  1- Unable to access a locked or secure network.  It asks for password initially.  When entered, it is unable to connect.  I restart and then go to Settings, find the network and click.  I never get a prompt for the password, just "Unable to Connect" 2-Bluetooth.    I can after a few attempts to connect my Bluetooth headphones, only after I get a "Failed attempt" a few times.  Then only music works, unable to make phone calls.  This happens with two different products.  A SENA SMH 10R and LG HBS 700.   3- Music play - I found this issue out when trying to figure out problem with Bluetooth.  I can start to play a song fine, but if I click on the ">>" or "<< "  it freaks the player out and then skips multiple songs or stops play and goes back to the playlist.  At first it was doing this with the Bluetooth headphones when using it to make selections.  So I deleted the devices and the iphone continued to do it when selecting functions on the screen.  Some playlists did it and some don't.  Creating a new playlist did not help.  Additional Info.Apple Store replaced my iphone on Saturday 5.4.13 because if antina issues.  The issues above came after I restored from backup and updated the OS.  I have erased the phone 2 times since getting the new phone and restored from back up and rebuilt from Itunes and neither way makes a difference above. What is going ON?   Message was edited by: Karl Kroeker  Corrected Version update

Can't hear just one person through my iphone 4

Okay, so lets see if this works. So I've had my iphone 4 for about a year and a half, I've never really had issues beside the normal glitching and having calls drop here and there. Recently I've had an issue with my iphone connecting with just one individual. Yes, I know it sounds weird but keep reading. I have been able to make calls and recieve phone calls fine, however I cannot with just one single individual. They to also only have the same problem with me, however the only difference is they can hear me but I cant hear them or anything. We're able to text and send picture messages without any issues. Now sometimes when I try to call them, itll ring twice and then the line just goes dead, but thats usually them picking it up. I cannnot hear them at all. I've already done the reset on my phone and I've already contacted apple about this issue and their about as lost as I am because it doesnt make sense that this is only happening with one individual. I've also blew out the speakers and such like people have suggested. I use my head phones that came with my speaker, and ive connected and reconnected them incase my iphone thought they were plugged in.  Let me give you a little bit more info. They have an android phone, we have the same carrier which is verizon and they live in another state (not sure if thats helpful). I'm completely lost because this has been going on for about 4 days now and its driving me crazy. This happened a few weeks ago, however it magically fixed its self ( im thinking it was because I had bad service). If anyone has any solutions that might help, please, please let me know.

aws unlocked iphone 5

I bought a full price Unlocked iphone 5 from Apple back in January to use on Straight Talk. I had some issues with data on Straight Talk not being reliable and I had to keep turning data off and on again to get a connection. Now that TMobile is supporting the iphone at the same price as Straight Talk I figured i'd give them a try - after all that's what having an unlocked phone with no contrat is all about right? I'm a free agent. So i signed up however i don't get 3G anyhere, and my 4G coverage is spotty (talking HSPA+ 4G not LTE). This is because my $599 unlocked phone doesn't have AWS support.  My question is why won't Apple release an update that will allow my identical hardware to work the way the one would if i bought it from TMobile? It's the same A1428 Model, the ony difference is the software.  I really don't have to have to sell my older A1428 to buy a new A1428 from TMobile just to get it to work when it should have anyway.  Can someone respond as to what Apple plans to do about this? Thanks,Andrew

iphone 4 battery life Why it die so fast and what can I

I have had an iphone 4 for a little over two years now and feel like recently, my battery is dying so fast.  When I go out for the day it always dies before I get home, what I think it is, could be that I take a lot of pictures and use many picture apps, but I don' think that it has always been this bad. NO matter what I do, when I go out to shoot at the park, it dies within a few hours. I hardly use it for other things besides that and it still dies. Yesterday when I left the house at 12, and came home at 5, it was dead.  I did all of the things I read about that I need to do, like closing the apps, etc.  I don't get it, is it me, or the battery being old or what? Should I buy a portable charger or do I need a new phone? I have a question about charging the battery as well. A coworker of mine told me that you need to let your battery die out every time, and then charge it, but I never do that. Is that neccessary to save the battery? Thank you. (*not sure what the difference is between CDMA and GSM? sorry)

iphone 4 Sound Isn t working

Hey guys, I have a iphone 4,I noticed when I switch the silent button off it doesn't show the picture(symbol) on the screen. No sound when typing, Recieving calls or messages, App sounds (background music etc) . Although i can play music just fine, When i go into my setting > (sound) i can select the ringtones and messages and they play back... Just wont play back when i recieve phone calls or messages.  (I've tried resetting everything, turning the iphone off.... Nothing made a difference)    I'd be gratefull if someone could resolve this Problem

Hello Apple Community : ) Unfortunately my old faithful 3GS recently gave up the ghost so I purchased an iphone 4S via e-bay but from an individual seller opposed to a company. (1st mistake....) Phone's a 32GB in white and to be fair works fine in every way except the camera?? I've attached a couple of photos I've just taken with my phone and another iphone 4 and I'm sure you can see the difference!! All pictures are coming out majorly cloudy/soft?? Basically sh*t! Any ideas oh Apple gurus? I've googled it and not really seen anything that helpful but must admit it's starting to bug the **** out of me as I am rather partial in taking a pic or two....... Loose and cracked home button on iphone 5

So I've had my iphone 5 for a few months now and today I noticed that there is a small crack on the home button within the little white square. Also perhaps as a result of this the button feels somewhat loose and makes a clicking noise when I touch the button without actually pressing it. I have previously dropped my phone but that was a while back and it was fine then. It still functions properly but after comparing it with my brothers iphone 5 there's is definitely a noticeable difference with the home button as mine has sunk in a bit and doesn't sit flush with the housing. It's obviously still within warranty and I don't want to pay for a replacement so will Apple repair the home button if I take it to them?

HELP Problem with iphone 4 screen color Discoloration and Image Persistence

Hi guys! I had this problem about 3 months ago. I started having this when I took a screen shot of a game then suddenly after the flash, the colors changed.Yesterday it came back to normal for the first time but after several minutes, it went back to the distorted colos mode.  Here are some pictures of the actual screen condition. You can see the problem here. The icons have a bit of a dark shade in their middle parts, but when I touch and select an icon, it shows their normal colors.*Look at the VIDEO ICON, PHOTO ICON and PHONE ICON.As you can see in this image, it's like on a thermal camera mode. LOL! it also has a large amount of image persistence in it.  In this image, you can see that the lower part of the screen is missing (blackened) and has some image persistence too. You can also see the difference in color of the messages tab.Image color is different and has image persistence too. The colors are different and the screens bottom part is darkened.  One thing I noticed here is that when the accesive touch button menu is active, the icons behind it get their normal colors back.*take a look a the APP STORE ICON, MAIL ICON, SAFARI ICON, CONTACTS ICON and PASSBOOK ICON    Any help guys? Is there any software that can fix this or any method you know? If there's anyone who have the same problem and has encountered the same problem, kindly reply and post some solutions.Thanks in advanced for those who will read this post and give me some answers!

uploading photos to laptop problem iphone 5

Having problems synching my iphone 5 photos with my laptop - when I plug in, sometimes it 'sees' new photos and uploads them, other times it does not.  I cannot seem to 'force' upload of new pics even by going into the computer, then the iphone and selecting upload.  For no apparent reason, it seems to randomly decide to see new photos and then, the upload goes fine!  Have tried turning both the laptop and the phone off but does not seem to make any difference

Why my iphone 4s dying

My iphone 4s is dying at 30%. This is concerning me because my last iphone did this too. So I had got my iphone in August of 2012 and it started dying at 35% about a week ago on Tuesday. Then by Friday it was dying at 60%. I thought it was the software update so I took it to the Apple store and the tested it and said that nothing was wrong with the battery, like normal. So they gave me a new phone. Well, it hasn't even been a week and this phone is starting to do the same thing. I try not to charge it until it has gotten down far and is about to die so I would not have this problem. Yes, I have tried restoring and no, it does not work. I have also reset it. Is there a difference between charging the phone on a iHome docking station and a plug into a wall? Is there anything else I can do to not have my phone die at 30%? I don't think it is normal because I also have an iPod and iPad and none of them do that. Also, the last iphone didn't do that until last week. Could there be a reason why it dies unexpectedly?

HELP Cannot Update From iOS 5.0 to 6.0 iphone 4S

I have an iphone 4S with an issue here that is super strange.  Last fall I downloaded the iOS 6.0 ipsw file update through iTunes and saved it to my desktop.  I am just now trying to update my iphone which is still running iOS 5.0, and I keep getting this error message "This device isn't eligible for the requested build". Currently I am running iTunes 11.0.2 (but not sure if that makes a difference).  Also I have Googled this error and tried all of that "host" file editing but it didn't help, so I just set the file back to the way it was. Anyone with tips to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.  Please note I have never done any jailbreaking and I really hope I don't have to start. Thanks!

Lock button working intermittently iphone 5

Over the last 3 weeks the lock button on my iphone 5 has been working intermitently.  Sometimes it takes 2-3 clicks to turn the screen on / turn it off.  Seems like this has only been a problem over the past few weeks (I have had the phone since the day it was released).  Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything like this.   Restarting / doing a hard restart doesn't make a difference.

Sorry - pressed the wrong key.   When a call is coming in, the phone vibrates, but there is no ring.  I haven't changed any settings that I am aware of.  I have  gone into the settings to   see if  choosing a different ring tone might make a difference, but it doesn't. I have restarted the phone a couple of times. That hasn't worked either.   Not sure what else to try.  Any advice gladly received. Padraig

iphone 5 Battery Data usage issues

Here's my journey. I had the iphone 5 from the day it was realeased. Was with Vodafone Australia. Phone was awesome. Coverage was an issue, so decided to swap to Telstra recently. Got new iphone 5 with the change over. From the beginning, the new iphone on Telstra, the battery was draining completely in less than 3 hours. Looked at the support communities and spoke to Apple. I made the mistake of setting the phone up from a "BackUp". They suggested setting it up as a "new phone" in iTunes. Did that - phone had been awesome until 4 days ago when I decided to "Update All" of the pending App updates. After all was downloaded the phone returned to its draining self, also becomign VERY VERY HOT when charging. Warmer than normal. Also got a SMS from Telstra to say I have used 82% of my download entitlement. With 22 days remaining!!!! Something wasnt right, not only was it using the battery life, cellular data usage was being drained also. Spoke to Apple, they told me I would need to do a process of elimination to find the "corrupt" app that was draining the Battery & Data.  I deleted every single App I had on the phone, yet it made no difference. I started to monitor the cellular data recieved on the phone. With no apps and nothing running, how is there data and battery being drained. Decided yesterday to"RESTORE" iphone once again. Set up as a new phone. I had loaded my email settings, but nothing else. I hadnt even provided my Apple ID infomation so the App Store wasnt logged in. Phone was still not right. Played with some settings, decided to turn my "Exchange" email from "PUSH" to "Manually Fetch".  After this, the phone was back to normal. No cellular data being downloaded and battery OK. Turned Exchanged back to PUSH, then the battery decides to trickle away again. After all this ********, I have narrowed it down to the way my exhcnage server checks for new messages. I have ALWAYS had my Exchange server PUSH emails to me. Why with this phone, on 6.1 should I have to have it to Manually check for emails. I get the feeling from conversations with other people, there seems to be alot of unknown data usage which Apple need to make a priority in preventing. This is costing consumers time and money. Curious if anyone else has had same issue?

How can I remove individual facebook events from my calendar on my iphone with iOS6

I have successfully integrated my Facebook calender with the calendar on my iphone with iOS6, but I would like to be able to remove individual events from the calendar on my iphone so it's less cluttered. I have tried declining the invite on facebook, but it makes no difference. I also don't want to simply un-sync events. Any ideas?

iMessage playing up sending and receiving messages slowly iphone 5

Recently my iMessage has been playing up alot, sometimes it's ok but if me and the participant aren't messaging straight away then the messages will take about 10 minutes to come through to my phone after they have been sent? Also when I send messages it takes longer than usual and they pile up waiting to send. To try and fix this I restored my iphone 4S but it has made no difference, and I have full wifi or 3G signal aswell as my carrier signal so I have no idea what's happened. This recently started after I downloaded the new iOS 6.1

The battery of my iphone 4S is draining completely within 1-2 hours. This phenomenon only started a couple weeks ago. I have adjusted the settings based on the recommendations on the Apple website for prolonging the battery life but none of those made much of a difference. The phone is only about 14 months old and runs on Verizon 3G network. Any advice?

I didn't want iOS 6.1 iphone 4S

My iphone 4S stopped connecting to wifi about 3 weeks ago.  I set up an appointment at an Apple Store.  In trying to find out what the problem was, the Apple tech offered to check the firmware for the antenna.  No luck on the wifi.  So, I headed back to the office to run a restore and get back to work. Wait a minute!  After restoring, I realize my phone has 6.1 on it.  There's a difference between "checking firmware" and "installing a softare update" - or so I thought.   Now that my phone has 6.1, I can no longer get any of my corporate email.  IT only supports up to 6.0.1 at the moment.  And as an added bonus, my battery is now draining like crazy!  I do not need this and I certainly wasn't asked about installing 6.1 on my phone! No wifi, no email, gimpy battery.  Now what do I do?

Hi, In case any of you is wondering about iphone 5 models and whether they work in Europe if bought in the US, I would like to share my successful experience: You can buy a Verizon unlocked phone in an Apple Store in the US. Be prepared for the Apple Store person to be a little confused and ignore the "but that is not GSM" or "CDMA does not work in Europe".Check and make sure that it is model A1429. Further check that it is a Verizon model [1]. This can be done by parsing one of the ends of the box with all the barcodes without having to open the plastic.Not sure this makes a difference, but I replaced the stock Verizon SIM with my European SIM before activating in iTunes. <- Is this really needed?The phone works with my European SIM in the US, UK, FR, and CH.3G works without a hitch and the rates are much better than in the iphone 3G.Enjoy a >10% discount on a fully unlocked phone. I have not yet tested LTE. Liquid indicator phone never in water iphone 4S

I just had the most unpleasant experience at a Verizon store.  My iphone 4s would not hold a charge.  I took it in foolishly thinking it was a matter of replacing a battery and was shown through a magnifying glass a pink spot in the headphone jack which they said meant my phone had been exposed to water.  This, they claimed, voided the warranty and I would need a new phone at full list price. Never mind I have been a Verizon customer for longer than the store manager has been alive.  I was dumbfounded.  I treat this phone like my 3rd child.  I am so in love with Siri, my sexual orientation has been called into question.  This phone has never been in water or any unusually wet circumstances.  Ever.  When I told the clerk and the manager this, they asked if I ever used it in the bathroom or outside when it is humid.  Seriously?  The phone can't handle humidity?  I asked them, if that is the case, how many customers come in with this issue?  They refused to share that information.  After much discussion, they said if they sent in the phone, Apple would not honor the warranty.  My only choice, they said, was to buy a new phone.  I have only had this phone since May.  That's 8 months, folks.  Before this phone, I had a Palm (yes, I know - insert cringe here) that went through **** and back and was still working years later when parts were held together with tape and I finally put it out of its misery.  Now my much beloved 4S dies after 8 months and I am accused of murder.  I asked them what would prevent the new phone from having similar issues and they said the headphone jack has been moved to the bottom.  I asked if this indicated there was a design flaw with the 4s and they said no, it probably just saved Apple money to move it.  If humidity is really the issue, I fail to see what difference the location would make anyway.  Fast forward - I have a new iphone 5, an insurance policy on it and a very, very bad taste in my mouth.  I own 2 ipods, an ipad and was just about to buy a 15" retina display laptop with a thunderbolt display.  That $$$ purchase is now on hold.  I have been an Apple fan since I bought the stock in the 80's and have converted a number of clients and friends to iphones.  Now I worry they may be gathering in the foothills with pitchforks in hand.  I am still in a state of shock, not knowing who deserves to be cursed - Apple or Verizon.  After spending $850 today I hadn't planned on, I'm going with both.  Geek love is worse than puppy love when your heart has been broken.

I'll remove the sim card and reinstall and it will work fine for a week or so. This has happened four time since I've had the phone. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? The phone is on ATT if that makes a difference.

So I am on a snowboarding trip and as in whatever you do nowadays you are not the only one with an iphone, however on this trip, every time we were out in the cold (20's) my iphone was the only one that would not respond to my touch (no gloves ofcourse)  I tried other's phones as some said my hands were too cold and ofcourse they worked.  I borrowed other's cases just in case that was the problem, and no luck!  Ofocurse reset the phone like 10 times and no difference.  The only thing that worked for a while was sticking a toe warmer to the back of the phone!!  the real iPad!!  ok not funny. I am obviously experiencing a hardware issue here, can anyone share if they have had this issue fixed out of warranty??   PS I have been able to replicate the problem just by putting the phone in front of the AC vent in MAX..   Thanks for your help!!

can I use my Ipad 3 charger to charge my iphone 4 and Ipod Touch2 can I use my Ipad 3 charger to charge my iphone 5 and Ipod Touch2

I've been using my iphone 4 charger to charge my phone and both my Ipad3 and Ipod Touch2 but was recently told that I shouldn't do it due to the difference in wattage for each device. Is this true and are there any serious consequences impacting all my devices? I've not faced any difficulties...yet. Would be glad for some good advise. Thanks.

Solved my iphone 5 Battery Problems Maybe it can help you

Hi every one, I saw many topics regarding battery problems with the iphone 5. I responded to one discussion describing what I did to solve the iphone 5 battery dying fast on me. So I thought I'd make a discussion here to help out other users with the same problem.  I would have 25-30% drop with in the hour and all I did was text a couple of my friends. I was using an iphone 4 for the longest time, and on that phone I was able to watch videos, listen to music and use all the other features of the phone. The battery still lasted me the whole day, I was getting  worried that I wouldn't be able to use the iphone 5 the same with out it dying on me fast. My friend suggested draining the battery and then charging the phone to see if any improvements were seen. I did that and I saw a small change in the battery strength. I drained the battery two more times, and that is when I saw a huge difference. I use my Phone as my iPod when I work out, and I run continuous music on it for 1.5-2 hours straight, along with sending texts to my friends. In this duration I would only use 15-20% which was a huge improvement from before. I would say that the battery life was on par with my iphone 4 battery! It is such a relief, now I can use my iphone 5 to it's fullest potential without having to worry it'll die on me fast. I recommend other iphone 5 users try draining their batteries a couple of times before charging as well if they are experiencing problems.  Hope this helps!Dylan

Replacement iphone 5 screen pixelated grainy

Has anyone else noticed on their replacement or recently new (Dec. 2012+) iphone has a different screen than before? I noticed that I can now see a vertical "dot" pattern, especially through blue and green icons and pictures. I also see it clearly in the settings app across the grey/blue "settings" bar, in the mail app's top and bottom grey/blue bars, and in the deep blue of an "on" toggle. This occurs with stock iOS apps and is not related to apps that have not updated for retina compatibility. I made a genius appointment to discuss my replacement iphone 5 display at a local Apple Store where my display was clearly different than all of the models on display. The specialists in the store were able to see the difference as well and were very helpful. They did everything possible trying to help me, including opening two replacement models but both displays had the same issue. I'm hoping this is a temporary issue and Apple corrects it quickly once it has been officially identified, but if not, we need to let Apple know this is not acceptable. I loved my Retina display and just can't look at it the same way. The whole point of the Retina display is to minimize seeing individual pixels but with this recent screen showing vertical dot patterns in solid colors, it defeats the purpose.

Why did apple switch to different design other than outer band dual antenna design in iphone 5 iphone 4S

This is a subject i'm not to familiar with but i do know a little about antenna design.I was wondering what caused apple to switch to a different design (did they?). Can t download apps from app store on iphone .

It's an iphone 4 on ios6. My account is working because I can buy, download and install apps on my mac and then sync with the phone but when I try to download an app to the phone directly from the app store, it doesn't work. Even free apps. It prompts me for my password, then appears to start installing but then just stops and returns to the original screen without any error message. It used to be fine but it suddenly stopped working. I've restored the iphone but it hasn't made any difference. Any suggestions?

why has my wifi been disabled iphone 4S

I've had no problems connecting to wifi in the past, but tonight i noticed my wifi has been disabled/greyed out.Does anyone know why, or how to enable it again?My iphone 4s is fairly new and i never had this problem with my 3gs.Really frustrating me. I've rebooted it and even reset my network settings but neither has made any difference.
