iphone 4s Wifi problem, After using the device of 7 month. wifi is not working. BEFORE WAS WORKING FINE and now wifi is not able to identify. I tried all the possibilities to fix the wifi, such as resetting network, restart the phone, restore from iTune and setup as new phone, but the problem remain same. turning on the wifi can't recognise any network. any other idiea to fix the wifi of iphone. What happening to my iphone 5

Hello everyone. I live in Colombia and my phone service is claro. On November, I got the iphone 5 and I had 1 year of warranty for it. Last week, I dropped my iphone into this bowl of water by accident but I took it instantly and when I looked at it, the phone was still on so I used a towel and dried it. I didn't know if I could press any buttons because maybe it'd make it worse so I didn't press any buttons. However, few minutes after that, the whole screened turned negative so my sister suggested to put it on dry rice. I left it there for several hours. When I took it back, I connected it to the charger and it turned on and everything was working perfectly except the signal, it kept saying "Searching.." so I tried turning it off and reseting the iphone but it didn't work. After a few hours, it died. I connected it again to the charger and the Apple sign appreared but it was gone after a little while and it didn't turn on.  I took it to my phone service support and they checked it and since there was water involved, they told me they couldn't fix it because it was out of the warranty. Then I went to an Apple Store but they told me they didn't fix iPhones so I came home and I connected it to my Macbook Pro and it turned on with the sign of connecting to iTunes so I did and a pop up came up saying it was in Recovery Mode and that I had to restore it so I did even if everything will get deleted and right now it's currently "iphone is currently downloading software for iphone" so what exactly is happening to my iphone 5? Is it dead forever? Can it still live? What should I do so it lives? I'm so sad and worried, haha. Help me out, please and thank you!

I got my phone replaced under warranty last night and didn't have time for the genius bar to restore it for me. Now I can't restore from the backup of my old phone because it was running iOS 6.1.2 and this new phone is on 6.0.2. The setup process has the most recent backup grayed out saying its not compatiblemw the new phone. How do I update the iOS on theis new phone so I can then restore the backup from my old?

Hi, I've got a White iphone 4 16GB Model and recently I've had trouble with it. First it started to drain the battery really fast so i decided to replace the battery but that didn't do the trick it still drained the battery. 15 days after replacing the battery i noticed the phone dumped its own operating system and reverted back to factory settings (iOS 5+ First time setup screen) i set the phone back up again and just left it.   after a few months of not touching it, because i got 2 other iphone's (4s & 5) that i can use i thought i would restore the whole OS using iTunes and hoping that would solve the problem but i cant get far as to loading iOS onto the phone. after extracting the software the phone restarts and displays the 2001 error. Apps can t access my Facebook details even if I allow them iphone 3G

I have my Facebook account setup in the iphone settings. Both Contacts and Calendar can access it to display their relevant information, but when some App Store app try to use the account, it always fails. For example, if I try to login to 9gag (using their app, not their website of course) using my FB account, the app says it cannot access the account – even though I authorized it. Same goes for BuzzFeed, or StumbleUpon (the latter doesn't even appear in the list of authorized apps BTW).Please note that I'm talking about the integrated FB login feature. Apps that redirect you to the FB website/app and ask for permission there are working just fine. I have a 3GS with 6.1 and both 9gag and StumbleUpon were updated in February 2013.  

iOS 6.1.1 update failed nothing new with this 4S

This is getting very old. Each and every software update I have done since buying my iphone 4s about 10 months ago has resulted in "iphone could not be updated. an error occurred" Today's attempt to update to 6.1.1 resulted in this message with (6) as the code (past update fails have resulted in other codes). My phone is now stuck with a black screen with the picture of the usb plug with an arrow pointed to iTunes (recovery mode). I love my iphone, but the love is growing dim, since eery single iOS update has caused a similar error, each time requiring a completely reset of the phone, setup as new, restore - which get my apps back, but resets all settings (including email accounts). Yes, I synced the phone prior to trying to update. At this point, my apparent only avenue is yet another "restore" - a royal pain, and what should be totally unnecessary for a tiny incremental update (iOS 6.1 to 6.11). And yes, I was experiencing what I believe was the issue this update was to correct - cellular data issues (and actually - intermittent WiFi issues as well). What ever happened to Apple... it just works?   And no, this iphone has never been jailbroken (I have been asked). Next time there is an update available - maybe I should head to the Apple Store and hand it to a "genius" an tell him to update it...

iphone 5-Selective Restore

Hi All, I have just received my iphone 5 upgrade today... I currently have the iphone 4 and have used the iCloud to backup my device, i also ran a local backup to my laptop for piece of mind. My question is:When the iphone 5 launches its setup wizard and I select the restore using iCloud option, can I stop the Apps from syncing? I want to effectivly have a fresh iphone with no apps but just copy over all my contacts, emails ect. I have gone into the Settings -> iCloud and a left everything on the inital screen onI then went to Storage & Backup -> Manage Storage -> My Device and turned off varuous Apps e.g. games I never play. Will this stop them from migrating to my new iphone 5?Do I need to delete the Apps from iTunes as well?? Or is it better to clean up my iphone 4 and delete any apps, run an iCloud backup and then just restore onto the iphone 5? Thanks:-)   I have read these KBs:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html Message was edited by: mehtaman

Hello. I got a supposed to be "FACTORY UNLOCKED" iphone 5 from the Apple Store yesterday I bought it for full price $649 plus tax, no commitment, no monthly payment, only the phone, but today when I want to use the phone and go into the setup process it asks me to insert a SIM Card into it in order to activate.. This is what the iphone tells me "Activation Failed" "Please insert a SIM card" I can't even get into the Springboard so I have an expensive $650 bucks rock with me right now.. That means that the phone it's not unlocked at all? iphone model is A1428. Thank you very much.

On its first launch I got the push notifications popup:  "Clash of Clans"Would Like to Send You Push NotificationsNotifications may include alerts, sounds and icon badges. These can be configured in SettingsDon't Allow / OK At first I didn't want them so I chose Don't Allow. Later I wanted them back anyway so I went to Settings > Notifications to turn the notification center settings back on, but they already were. I didn't get any push notifications though while the game was playing/running. Could that have anything to do that I denied them on the app's first launch? If so, how do I reset that? I tried using 'clear all settings' in the iphone settings, but that didn't help. Also tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, but that didn't work either. Instead of starting over, the game continued from the last settings. Including levels, game setup, buildings, etc.  When you accidentaly choose Don't Allow on such first push notification popups, how can you reset that. Or change it back to allow push notification permissions should you change your mind afterwards?

Hi, today I did an update through iTunes to latest firmware and suddenly my Sim is not working..I reset my phone all contents and after initial setup where I have to choose WIFI, it says Sim not Valid. Question, I've had my iphone 5 since launch day. I have been having an issue where I will be on the phone I look at it and there are colored vertical lines on the screen, it goes very dim then reboots seeing the apple logo screen then back to the home screen. It's happened about 3 times on 6.0.1. Today I decided to update to 6.0.2 after i got the phone completely setup as a new phone and all my apps back on I was using it playing words with friends and it happened again. My iphone 5 shows low connectivity with my Airport Express

Both my wife and I have iphone 5s.  We replaced an older airport with a new 2nd gen Airport express until we have money to buy a time capsule. Anyway, we figured that it would be faster then out old airport with the 5Ghz 802n that our old didn't support. I hooked it up, and the setup was a breeze. But then I noticed a problem... My wife's iphone 5, as well as her MacBook Pro connect with no problems at full signal strength. So do our iPads. My iphone though consistently shows low signal strength throughout our home. When I run the airport software, it shows all the devices connected with good speed, except my iphone 5, which is shown as poor.  Does anyone have thoughts/ suggestions? Thanks, Carl

6.01 to 6.02 issues new thread iphone 5

Since Apple closed the last thread about downgrading to 6.01 and associated issues with 6.02 here is a new one as my saga continues.  I was a downgrader to 6.01 from 6.02 after horrid battery and cellular data usage under wifi in 6.02.  72MB cellular usage at home, strong wifi, overnight for no reason and drained to 60%. However last two nights under downgrading to 6.01 I have gone to sleep at 100% charge (just unplugged from charger) at Midnight and awake at 9 am with a drainage to 60%.  What?  What is sucking 40% battery at home, under wifi, during the night?   In desperation I have upgraded again to 6.02 and have done after said upgrade a complete ph reset to a new setup and then restored the phone from itunes from my backup.  Third time lucky Apple....  Apple...Apple.... Apple.......... please don't force me to android and MS. I'll keep a daily 'nightly' report of my battery issues here and any other issues i have with 6.02 for others to compare. Cheers

If I bought throught Apples Store I'll receive A1428, I want to know if it will work on vtr's AWS network.

can't sync iphone 4s

I have a 16GB 4S, running iOS 6. Up till yesterday, it was syncing without any problems. Suddenly, iTunes is telling me that it cannot sync my phone because it needs an additional 4GB of space.  I did not make any changes in the iTunes setup. I do not have any photos in the phone, since I delete them as soon as iPhoto does its import. Why does iTunes insist that I don't have enough space?

iphone 4 burning HOT after battery swap and now draining fast

Hello,I'm a DIY'er and very cheap. This is my first blog post ever. Excuse my unawareness. iphone out of warranty.  Problem: My iphone burns hot when charging or when the screen is on.Cause: I was replacing a screen on my SISTERS iphone, used my own personal battery in my iphone to boot her phone to make sure i didnt buy a dud.  But keep in mind both were ATT iphone 4 models. Both with the same IOS.I've replaced a screen before no problem. BUT this time the phone wouldnt fire up. So to make sure I didnt buy a dud, i removed the battery from my personal phone, placed it in my SISTERS iphone and bam it worked. Yay! Her iphone is working. So i removed my battery and reassembled her phone with her battery. Still working just fine. Now my phone is in need of repair. This is what i get for trying to help.  Again, my iphone burns hot only when charging or when the screen is on. Battery is depleted in 1.5hrs.  FAILED Attempts to fix by: Re-seatting the battery 10x plus.Swapped batterries several times again.Tried reconditioning.Blew air on the charging pins.Tried all the disable/delete mail accounts, icloud, restrictions, even airplane mode.Reset Network settings, then tried All settings, then tried erase all and restored with a NEW setup, no backups. Upgraded to IOS 6.0.1. Now im just going to completely disassemble/reassemble my phone out of desperation.I think all that may be left is possibly i caused a short. My iphone screen has two hairline cracks, but un-noticable by touch and also touch is working 100%. I think maybe somehow the screen is now causing the iphone to overwork itself. IDK how bcuz i lived with these 2 cracks for abt a year now till the recent battery swap.Im undecided if i should try my sisters screen on my phone, bcuz i dont want anymore problems.I dont want to buy a new phone. Any help would be much appreciated.

iphone 5 Rapid Battery Drain-No Standby

Hi folks - I have a 64GB iphone 5.  When wifi is enabled and I am at work (this doesn't occur on any other wifi network that I have yet found) the phone will not go into standby mode (though the screen turns off) as evidenced by the Usage and Standby times being almost identical.  In approximately 3 hours, when wifi is enabled, my phone will go from 100% to below 20% and is quite hot to the touch. The wifi network at my work is WPA2 encrypted, wireless N and G, and 2 SSID's are broadcast for the same network (to support staff whose wireless laptops haven't been switched to the new SSID - don't get me started - it's a stupid setup).  Anyways, the wifi quality is dodgy at past and even though the signal remains strong, internet connectivity frequently drops.  I suspect that the wireless router is defective but I have no control over that and have been ignored by the IT folks.   To make matters even more interesting, my iPad 4 connects to the same network at work and the battery doesn't drain and the device goes into standby without issue. If I disable wifi on the phone while at work, the phone goes into standby and the Usage actually reflects the amount of time the device is actually used (a fraction of the total time). I have reset network settings on the phone, reflashed 6.01 and restored from backup, disabled location services, etc... but to no avail. Do you think there is a defect with the phone in its ability to handle the dodgy wifi at my work when the iPad manages it fine or is there something else that I could do to stay connected to the wifi without the phone chewing through battery, heating up, and not sleeping? Thanks folks!

Verizon iphone 5 Exchange mail not synchronizing

I recently purchased this iphone 5 OS 6.0.1 and noticed that my Exchange email account does not work (can't send or receive emails).  When setting up the account everything validates.  I am IT at my company and I have read previous posts about "temporary fixes"; which none work.  I had my iphone 4 OS 6.0.1 and my Exchange email worked fine until I got the iphone 5.  It seems to be Verizon specific issue because my boss has an iphone 5 with AT&T and I was able to setup his Exchange email perfectly fine when we received it 3 weeks ago.   Please advise ASAP! Hello all, I am living in Germany and have received an iphone from Qatar as a present. I can not set up the phone and I don't know why.  There is no sim lock or something similar, but I can not even setup the phone When doing the set-up the following slide appears:   As there is no other option I go to next. Then the following appears  As I am living in Germany I can of course not fulfill this. I don't have a verizon sim card, I just have my newly ordered nano sim card from my provider. Is there anybody who can help me?

Problem with restoring from iphone 4

I just got new iphone 5 and when I wanted restore my apps from my old iphone 4.  First it won't restore saying the back is corrupt or my software was non compatible. I kept trying making new backup from my old phone and restoring and I it finaly restored few groups and apps. I don't want lose my old group which took me a long time to setup. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Several weird quirks all at same time. iphone

My iphone 4s just started doing several really weird things all at the same time. 1. I cannot open my email. I have tried turning off/on my phone several times to no avail. reinput all my info into the mail setup. nothing.2. My text messages come through, but my phone does not alert me. I suddenly see that I have a text, but not alert, no vibrate, no banner. then, several hours after I read my message, an alert may, or may not come through for that message.3. My phone is set to go into sleep mode after 1 minute, but it will not go into sleep mode unless I hit the sleep button on top. 4. My keyboard is not working properly, the letter pops up when I touch it, but doesn't actually input into my text unless I press it again several times. this does not happen with every letter everytime, but it does happen with all the letters/numbers/symbols some of the time. especially the space.5. The phone gets incredibly hot when in use for more than a few minutes, and while charging.  any ideas?????

Why did AT T add password to voicemail iphone

For no reason known to a seasoned iphone user, as I setup my new iphone 5, a popup asked for my voicemail password!  I have never had a voicemail password and had no idea what it was, so I entered some numbers that might be the one, but  iphone just kept asking for this.  Never did it tell me it was wrong or Try again.  I finally called AT&T and they reset the PW and I should change it.  But WHY???? Is there any need for this to be different than the iphone 4 or 4S, with all the added frustration.   Maybe there is a logical reason for such a password, as it allows one to get voice messages from any phone.  Maybe this service has value, but might that be better served with an OPT IN or OPT OUT question during the setup rather than the confusion with a one answer dialog box. Comment welcome!

I have just purchased two iPhones, one for me, and one for the wife. We currently share one iTunes account, and I have one iCloud account. What is the best next step, so that we can share the apps and music we have purchased, and I can FaceTime or iMessage her? Do I just setup an iCloud account for her, and will it be possible to continue to share our iTunes account?  Thanks, James

I originally had battery issues and thought I had fixed it. I can get around 7-8 hours usage BUT with that only a few hours standby. Also it's not always consistent. I usually pull 7-8 hours but yesterday I was down to 67% with only an hour and a half usage. Where usually ill have around 3:10 hours by then. Also people have claimed to get 5 hours at 62%. I want that sort of usage! I was given this iphone 5 as a gift and it is my first iphone. So it SHOULD be setup as a new iphone but I was not actually there when it was setup so I'm not 100% sure. So even though it is likely to have been setup as new, I am tempted I restore and do as stated in previous posts. Should I? iphone 5 iOS6 Battery Drain Experience Initial when I first got my iphone 5 I was pretty happy with the battery life on it, I thought nice it lasts a decent amount of time. Typical usage was surfing the net, listen to some music and check my email. My trouble began is when I changed my contract to a new supplier with LTE and an unlimited data plan, this is when I went into my settings and turned on iCloud and LTE. The following morning I unplugged my phone and went to work, normally my battery would easily last all day with 40% ish left, within 5 hours I was down to 12%. Not good luckily I had ordered another power cable from Apple and it had arrived just in time! Anyway through trial /error and spendings a lot of time on the web I have finally solved my battery drain issue, below is a summary of the troubles with my previous setup!  NOTE: Within “Settings / General / About / Diagnostics & Usage / Diagnostics & Usage Data” contains your crash logs, if you are experiencing battery issues then you should have some crash logs in here! This was the key to fixing my battery issues.TIP: Crash logs can also be found on your computer:http://support.polkast.com/entries/20647357-where-can-i-find-crash-logs-for-my-i os-devices-ipad-ipod-iphone Okay the:1.Big Battery Drainers - dataaccessd process  – My crash log contained about multiple “dataaccessd” There are numerous threads on this issue on the web and numerous fixes. It’s basically linked to the Exchange server calendar: I performed a full reset.Switched my exchange account from “push” to “manual”, I haven’t seen a crash log on this anymore (7 days now). https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2145413?start=0&tstart=0 MobileMail process – Additional to my work exchanger server email I also have yahoo and gmail mail on my iphone, I never really found out what this was exactly related to but my fix was to have some common sense:I turned off “Contacts / Calenders / Reminders / Notes” on my yahoo / gmail accounts and only used the iCloud ones, I believe there was some interference/clash of some sort and only using “Contacts / Calenders / Reminders / Notes” from one source helped me resolve the MobileMail process issue.Switched my yahoo / gmail accounts “push” to “manual” also, I believe “Fetch” causes no issue either.     iCloud Issues – Swtiching on iCloud on its own wasn’t really the issue, I have all the options on and with push settings without much battery drain. But when I reviewed my crash logs I found another two crash processes “PocketPlanes” / “Toshl”, these are two of the apps have backup to iCloud options enabled automatically and it seems they were trying to backup all day!I simply disabled there iCloud backup or limited the backup to occur when wi-fi was available.  2. Medium Battery Drainer – LTE – Super fast connection but my office seems to be in an area that causes my iphone to continuously switch between LTE and 3G networks, this I noticed was causing a drain on my battery.Switch LTE off if you note the switching issue, it’s not really needed when your phone is in standby. Switch it back on if you want to use the full speed.   3. Other Battery Drainers – These are further tweaks I found useful and have made some difference to battery life:Settings / Wi-Fi – Some noticeable gains with this turned off while no Wi-Fi is around.Settings / Bluetooth – This was switched on automatically on my iphone from factory, switch on only when you need it.Settings / General / About / Diagnostics & Usage / Diagnostics & Usage Data – “Don’t Send” ticked, this would save you data and power.Settings / Location Services – I have most of these ticked “On”, only one I have “Off” is passbook. I don’t have many passbook items and the ones I have self-generated seems to keep triggering the location services program to keep pinging my location every time I unlock the phone. This is not needed so I’ve turned it to “Off”.Settings / Location Services / System Services – I’ve turned most of the options to “Off”, I found that each process had ran at least once in the last 24 hours and they are all basically collecting information for apple and not really enriching the experience for the user. Once you’ve gone through the list you will see the location services arrow a lot less! If you want to found out more I would suggest search the web for each option, it was interesting reading.  After resolving all the above issues and doing some minor tweaks I have an iphone that has very good battery life and does not have itsmain features (iCloud / Location Services) disabled to a point where its not really a smart phone anymore! The key to resolving your battery issues revolve around your crash logs! Hope this helps people resolve their battery issues!

Unlocked my phone through AT T doesn't seem as if it's unlocked iphone 4

It's not always possible to return a jailbroken device to a pristine state.There have been many reports in these forums of users with jailbroken or hacked devices getting them unlocked via the carrier then during the restore the devices bricks itself. When you restored the device, was it setup as a new device?

iphone 5 setup Question

If I already chose "Set up as new iphone" and completed the setup process without syncing to Itunes, can i go back and transfer contacts and other data from my old iphone to my new one?  Thanks in advance for your responses.
