iphone 3G will not send text getting error sending message

I recently upgraded my iphone 3G to 2.2 and about a week later I was getting a error sending message when sending text messages. I can receive text just fine. I have tried restoring using ITunes and even had the ATT store tech swap the SIM card with no results. HELP!!!!!!! I am very upset with ATT and Appple. Why my phone say Call Failed when dialing number iphone 3G

Ok, Im using 2.2 software version on my iphone 3G. Its not unlocked or anything. The problem started last night, when I tried to call someone in my contact list. Ill dial the number and it automatically goes to Call Failed, it doesnt dial or even attempt to. I can sends text messages, receive phone calls, and get online. Just cant make phone calls.Heres what I did to try to fix it.First I cut the phone off and powered back on. Then tried a soft reset by holding the home button and power button down. After that didnt work I restored it to factory settings, which didnt work. Then I restored from a backup, but it didnt work either. Ive tried everything people have said on the internet, that doesnt require unlocking the phone.Please help!!!!**edit** - Ive also removed the SIM and restored to factory settings. Txt Msg Alert Bug iphone

Ive noticed that when I receive over 50 txt messages from a single person the MSG alert never seems to go away. Like when I get 105 unread messages, I go and check the 105 messages and it seems to subtract 50 and still says I have 55 unread messages. So then I hit Load Earlier Messages and it still says I have the same amount of unread messages.I clear the messages in the chat and it still says that there are 55 unread messages. When I check my phone it shows that there are no unread messages (b/c there are no blue dots near any conversations).The alert seems to go away only after removing the chat log all together from the text message menu.If someone at Apple can look into this it would be greatly appreciated. Dropping Calls iphone 3G

This problem just started yesterday morning. I am unable to make or receive phone calls on the AT&T network. When receiving a call, the phone says I have full signal. When I try to answer the call, the signal bars fall to nothing and then it searches for the network. This happens on both the Edge and 3G areas. When making a call, once again the phone is telling me I have full signal, then it drops to nothing. The call is failed, then searches for the network.I am able to text message, the data is not working. I have restarted, reset, removed the sim card. Im out of ideas. Just a side note, while on GPS in 3G areas, my current location is telling me I am in Cleveland. The problem with that is I live in Delaware. I am not sure if these are related problems.Does anyone have a clue what the heck is going on with this thing. I really dont want to replace it again, this being my second iphone. Does anyone know if iphone has a way to change boring ringtones for incoming e-mail or text message to a custom ringtone. I have custom tones that say you have mail or message and would like to change them. I can not find if it is possible to do this. iphone Monopoly Application wont open

I have downloaded the Monopoly application and it wont open. When i select it on my iphone it just flashes up and automatically closes again. I have tried everything to try and get it to work.I have deleted Monopoly and re-downloaded it, I have deleted it from my iphone and re-synced it, I have turned off my phone and turned it on again, I have delete all other applications and just tried to put Monopoly on my phone, I have restored my whole phone, I have called Apple support and they told me to try all of these above things and more, nothing seems to get it to work. i have tried everything i can think of.Any ideas? iphone Windows XP

Synching Irritations. iphone 3G

Two really annoying things that continue to drive me up the wall:1) Every time I want to transfer pictures onto my phone or maybe just even one new song, why does iTunes force me to do a complete backup of my phone? What would take 10 seconds ends up taking 20 minutes for absolutely no reason.2) Why when I opt NOT to sync ALL of my apps, does it tell me it will REMOVE Them from my phone completely? No! Why would I want them DELETED? Since when does not copying over something that is ALREADY on THE PHONE mean that I want them deleted completely from the phone? It doesnt make any sense. None. If I dont have them all checked, it will delete the one not checked.I tried to NOT sync my apps so that I could speed up the process of just syncing my photos. So it tells me its going to delete all my apps if I do that. iTunes is such a miserable failure in the world of Apple/Mac which dominates the logic/useability world in every other arena. It continues to confound me the absolute poor structure, logic, and programming of their flagship software app.I mean seriously, how hard is it for this application to know that its already got all my apps both in itunes and on the phone? Every time I connect it, it starts copying over my apps all over again. Why? Is this 1983 when it cant tell if the app has been updated and needs synching? If someone can give me some input on these items I would appreciate it. VAIO

questions regarding syncback up iphone 3G

Hello. Ive recently had some hard drive issues on my laptop, which forced me to reformat my hard drive. My iphone now thinks I am using a different computer, which I guess means I need to resync and delete everything on it. What a pain...I have some pretty straight-forward questions, and Ive searched the forums looking for answers but havent found any yet, so excuse me if these are asked 1,000 times a day:Will backing up my iphone really do me any good, in the long run? I guess Im confused about what actually is preserved by doing this.What exactly is lost during a new sync? Will I lose all of my contacts, text messages, and pictures? Problems with iphone

I have many problems using my new 3G iphone and its really starting to annoy me.1) When you go into a lift and the reception of the phone cuts off - It takes absolutely ages for the signal to be restored. Around 5-10 minsSometimes if you leave your phone idle on the table and the reception cuts off - it could take up to 2 hrs....and i end up with 15-20 voice messages.Is it just my phone or does it happen similar to other users as well?and 2) - by far the most annoying is the texting function. I can text and receive a text from someone no problem but when they reply back.....I cannot see their name. e.g. I go and text John on 12345678....and then when John replies to me...I get the number 44-12345678...(if in the UK). The phone doesnt recognise that it is John...When you hit the call button - it doesnt call John cos the country code should be +44.Same thing with Hong Kong ppl texting me - always I get replies starting with 852 instead of +852. I dont end up seeing who from my phone book is texting me and have to end up looking up the number..any remedies?Thanks Other OS

iphone text message bug

When you type a line which ends on a question mark which happens to be the last character of the line before the text would wrap over the the next line then you cant push space. You can do a double space shortcut which removes the question mark and changes it to a full stop, then start the next sentence and go back to change the fullstop to a question mark. I havent tried it but Im guessing the same bug would occur for all end of sentence indicative characters (e.g. ! ?) Intel PC Windows XP Pro

iphone screen switches black after moving away from ear

So when Im on a call or listening to vmail and then move the phone away from my ear to either end call or delete a vmail or what not the screen stays or switches to black and Im unable to do anything. I use to have the first gen iphone and it did this only ever so often, but since I upgraded to the 3G its happening every time. Is there a solution to this? Credit Voucher for Original I-Phone iphone

The original purchasers of the I-Phone were given a credit voucher for $100 when Apple reduced their phone prices several months later. Owners were sent via email and text, a credit voucher number. Well 2 weeks ago I lost my phone and no one turned it in, so Im trying to find my credit voucher number so I can use this to purchase another phone. My dilema is that I deleted my email but saved the text message which contained the info I needed--silly me didnt think that if I lost my phone I would have no information. Apple Customer Service has not been able to help because they kept no records and the refund program is over. AT&T was no help either. syncing contacts with outlook 2007 iphone

Why does syncing contacts with outlook 2007 still not work correctly? I stopped syncing contacts a while ago because when I did my contacts in outlook always got messed up. So now since Im sick of the poor performance on my iphone I decide to finally do a restore. So in the kb it says to do a sync before you do the restore to make sure everything is synced up and you get a good backup, so I do that, and decide to sync the contacts to make sure any contacts I have on the iphone get transferred over to outlook.When I did the sync of contacts any contacts that were not in outlook, but were on the iphone are now gone. If the contact was not in outlook, but was on the iphone it got deleted from the iphone instead of transferred over to outlook. Itunes gave me the warning about more than 5% changing, but the warning didnt have anything under delete, so why did contacts on the iphone that werent in outlook get deleted? I lost alot of contacts. Also it modified some of my outlook entries and removed numbers from people who had multiple numbers even though those multiple numbers existed in both outlook and on the phone, but the sync decided to randomly remove some of the multiple numbers from both places. So now my contacts are completely screwed up. (what a piece of work this thing is)Is there any way to get them back to how they were? Does the iphone backup hold my contact info? 2 rings on text messages 20 minutes apart iphone

after several months of having my iphone, and it breaking, I went in to the apple store to speak to an iphone Genius. The name of his job title, aside from being very arrogant, was far from the truth!!Anyway, he couldnt answer my questions, and suggested i should post them to apple. The iphone either lacks a lot of features which even my first Nokia had, or i just cant find them. Wonder if anyone can help:Forwarding Texts:cant forward a text. This is annoying, as if someone sends me some info in a text i wish to send on, i cant see how to forward, nor how to copy and paste the info into a new txt.Red Button:Wheres the reject call button? If my phone is on the lock screen when it rings, the only option I have is to answer or silence it. Silencing the ringing is no good, as people often hang up before Voicemail kicks in.Snoozing Reminders:if i have a calendar reminder, cant see how you snooze it. Missed loads of appointments and reminders with this one. Very easy to loose the reminders from the screen, and then not see them.There are so many more things that thoroughly disappoint me about this phone - the bluetooth stack, the 3G/GSM implementation, cant change the home screen background from black, cant have your own ringtones - or even set a MP3 song which you have bought on itunes as a ring tone, etc etc.However, these are more annoyances than show stoppers.I hope someone can help with the top three above, or maybe, someone in apple might see this post and suggest to include these rudimentary features that have been present in phones since mobiles went digital in the next software release. ok , i know there are a few posts about various problems for the iphone 3g, i thought i would just post what i think is wrong with the phone, because for £350.00 customers should get some basic thing installed/or work on the phone1, working bluetooth ,i have had my phone for 2 months now, and i can say i have not managed to connect or even find a person with my bluetooth, even of there standing right next to me ,also when u get that fixed, make it so u can send ur pictures via bluetooth, even tho the camera is only 2mp u can take half decent pic in the right light lol2,able to forward text msgs ,not much to ask i dont think... ?3,able to send multimedia msgs , come on , even cheap phones let u do that....these are my main gripes about the phone, that imho should be installed/implicated from the get go.sorry if these have been posted before, i read somewhere about a list of things that apple are working on resolving, can anyone point me to a page to show this, or is it a myth lol? iphone 3g

Cant bring up keyboard on my iphone Please help URGENT

I was going to text one of my friends but when i touch the bottom bar to bring up the keyboard nothing happens! I was on Firmware 2.1 and I already tried upgrade/ restore to 2.2. I did a hard reboot already. The only way I can bring the keyboard is up is by selecting the new message button where you select who you want to message ( the button in the top right corner under battery), and selecting someone. The bottom of the screen where teh bar to bring up the keyboard is working on other Apps so its a bug with SMS I believe. It is a 2g iphone. gateway Windows Vista

Error Sending Message iphone

This popped up almost a week ago now - last Friday. I compose a text, tap send and it gives me the little progress bar, moves as if its going to send, and then stops about 1/8th to 1/6th of the way and I get a little message where it usually says sending that says Error Sending MessageAll my googling has come up with people experiencing this on jailbroken iPhones or when they have a momentary drop in service (at which point they just hit send again). But I can receive texts just fine. All other operations on the phone are fine - sending/receiving emails, placing/receiving phone calls, etc.There was some mention of a possibly incorrect SMS Service Center Number...? I realize this isnt an AT&T forum, but Im hoping someone out there can help.At the Genius Bar, they said they thought it was an AT&T issue. I went to the AT&T store, where they called the iphone troubleshooting hotline. The iphone Troubleshooting guy didnt know what was going on, and suggested swapping to a new SIM card. So, we tried a new SIM card and we tried someone elses SIM card in my iphone....still nada.Which makes me think its software...? So... I realize that this has been discussed before. But it *****, so Im bringing it back up again. My gf bought a new car yesterday. Im thankful she doesnt have an iphone, because its more than a little annoying that Im unable to text people the type of car she bought. Want to have fun with your iphone? Try typing Lexus without going back and having to correct it. And just for sh*ts and giggles, try typing Acura. Cant do it, huh? Fun!!I get that the iphone needs to auto-correct words. But it should be able to accurately discern slow and deliberate touches versus fast and furious, mistake laden typing. The phone certainly should not skip letters. The thing wont LET you type the u in Lexus. Even skimming over the top row on the keyboard wont help- it skips the u entirely.Hows your new Lexis driving? Wish you had bough a Acuta instead? Auto resizing UIButton to text inside it iphone 3G

Ive determined that if I set the UIButton flags field autoresizeToFit (via the debugger) then the UIButton will automatically resize based on the size of the text I put in it. Unfortunately thats a private field. Im interested in doing this because Im localizing the UIButtons title and that title is variable length. Yes, I could localize the .xib file that Im using but this is the only element of the .xib file which needs to be resized in this manner and localizing the entire .xib file would be complete overkill (and suck up pointless space). So Id like to change the size of the UIButton programatically to match the width of the title.Is there an official mechanism to do this?Casey MacBook Mac OS X (10.5.5)

Look I understand everything takes an expert but who came up with the bright idea of locking this phone like fort knox? When is Apple going to upgrade the keyboard so you can use the landscape keyboard for text messaging, email, internet, etc.? I have nails so a larger keyboard makes typing much easier for me. Well I recieved an iphone 3G for Christmas, and I LOVE it, but the thing is, the battery *****. Is it normal to have almost no battery after one day of use? Unable to Recieve CallsTexts iphone 3G

I have not been able to receive text messages/calls all day. My phone is on, it does not ring vibrate or anything else. I have tried turning my phone off, and back on. When I do that it shows I have a new voice mail but no missed calls.Now when I turn off my phone then back on I am not notified of voice mails, when I press the voice mail icon it no longer shows my voice mail box. Instead it starts calling my voice mail.This may all be AT&Ts fault but my mother and brother, who also have AT&T are having no problems. Anyone have any advice?

Received only 2 emails, and 1 text message during the usage time.With these settings my phone made it a full day with out dying, with normal consumer settings (wifi on, location services on but used little, etc) my battery would last about 4-5 hours with the same amount of Usage.Basically, im looking for affirmation so I dont drive way out of my way and wait in line for hours to be told that there is nothing that they can do with my phone..My previous iphone (2G) would last 3-4 days sometimes without being recharged and it had push enabled on 2 email addresses (MM, and MS Exchange) My wife currently uses this phone w/ 2 emails, location services on, and uses 3rd party apps a lot and her phone battery lasts 2 days still..New battery time?-thanks Macbook, MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)
