I have been an avid apple user virtually my whole life... I love my iphone but I just cant help but be so disappointed at the limitations of the iOS.However, I didnt come here to complain, Im here to make a statement. I think there is a lot that can be done with the new updates to come and here are a few Im just dying for Apple to develop.Customization - Please give us some options!! I mean why cant we change icon and dock themes? I understand there are copyright issues but apple doesnt have to create the themes, just an app that would allow us to change them ourselves. Why not let us change the text color on the home screen and fiddle with the icon transparencies... I just really dont see the harm in a little creativity.Contacts - Why dont our contacts have photos next to the name in the lists? and why cant we set up a favorites page with our contacts photos? it seems like such a simple feature to add, virtually every other phone OS has this so whats up with the boring lists apple? come on.SMS - Not only do we need our contacts photos in the list and in the chat bubbles we also should be able to change the colors, fonts and backgrounds of our chat windows. Furthermore, it would be great to be able to read and answer a text without having to leave the app your in to go to the sms app.Text Tones - Your text tones are sooooo annoying... please let us use our ringtones as text tones too, please Please PLEASE.Camera - Please consider adding a physical camera button to the next iphone... or at least let one of the volume buttons do the trick while in camera mode. That would be very useful. Hi,I need to boost the volume of my key click sounds (Im using an iphone 4 as part of a psychological experiment involving acoustic feedback).Its been no problem to replace the default key click sound (Tock.caf) with my own sounds (e.g. by using Cydia and Winterboard in order to quickly load customized sound themes). However, the max volume for key clicks has been quite low since iOS 3.1: As soon as my sound is played back as a key click sound, it gets attenuated. If I play the same sound file over the built-in iPod, its much louder. Amplifying the volume of the sound file before uploading the file to the iphone does not seem to change anything.Does anybody know where in the iphone file structure the attenuation takes place? Apple did not give the Home Screen wallpaper for iphone 3G on iOS 4.1 or even 4.2 next coming. I feel frustrated about this. If we look at mobile phone running google android 2.2 operating system or even Nokia N-series they do allow to change home screen or themes without battery drain. I wanna say to Mr Apple if you cant give some basic features to iphone 3G for any future update please dont allow iphone 3G update because it wastes of time. If updating allow to fix the bugs on iphone 3G you should develop small batch file to update rather than downloading the big file. Keyboard Color iphone

I've been trying to change the color of the keyboard on my iphone, however, when I install settings that are specifically designed for that the change never happens. Im using Cydia and the changes dont take effect in the select themes tab in winterboard. I'm not using a specific theme, so it should be working. Please help.

Unable to find "settings / mail" iphone

hi there!on my jailbreaked iphone 3GS with OS 3.0 i can't find the Mail-Settings. I enter Setting and all the other stuff appears but not "Mail". I saw in other forums that an activated Winterboard-Theme could hide this option in Settings. So i disabled all themes but there's still no "Mail"anyone can help me, please?thanks a lot!

OK i just bought an i-phone, my first apple device. Now i think its a nice device, but its still missing key features found in many other mobile phones for years. I find it dissapointing, this device COULD be the greatest phone ever but its missing these features apple!!!1. To add a ring tone you need to be extremely copmputer literate, unless you want to pay for it. Which i dont cuz i already have 5000 songs that i can use as ringtones. On all my nokias for the past 4 years ive been able to set multiple formats as ring tones WITHIN THE PHONE!! not on my computer.2. Message tones cant even be changed to one of your songs just the apple supplied ones. Again, something ive been able to do for years on nokias. You have to jailbreak it just to do this, and im not keen to get a brick so this is out of the question for me.3. I cant change themes on it, the background isnt really a background cuz i only get to see it when i unlock the device? 4. Bluetooth on this thing might as well be taken out, if i cant connect to other phones what good is it? The i-phone resembles the i-pod too much in that it can only be synced to one PC at a time, apple is worried about copyright infrigement, but there could be a programming restriction on what can and cant be sent via bluetooth so who cares? Really? Now sending photos to someone standing 2 feet from me costs me money?5. I now realise how the jailbreaking term has come about, cuz when you use one of these devices you feel held back, restricted with rules and regulations. Just like a jail.Ill give this device a 5/10. The reason I have posted this thread, is after searching and searching I find no reason why the iphone and the related os cannot support the many features that it should be able to.I have a 3G, paid full retail and couldnt live without it. My girlfriend has a 3GS and is much the same. I have many friends that also own an iphone.The main difference, as described by apple, between the two phones are an increased amount of RAM, better camera and a better processor. This would justify the cost difference and the reason for a new model release.However, small differences - not reflected by the hardware change - are evident. And now I approach the software difference. We both run 3.1.2, but the 3GS has video recording, I do not. Her inbuilt battery meter is capable of displaying a percentile amount of charge, whereas I have to download an application for this. Now although the 3GS boasts a better camera, I will move to my next point, perhaps the most controversial of all.Both of our phones - hardware wise - HAVE THE SAME CAPABILITIES!But, due to the divine elegance of apple, I have to purchase a 3GS if I want these features. Boo on apple.I have a friend with a jailbroken 3G, and strangely it becomes apparent the capabilities of the iphone that are not being utilized. He has the ability to record video. He can also zoom with the camera, something that neither the 3G or the 3GS have the ability to do - although they dont lack the ability hardware wise.Now jailbreaking an iphone is illegal. It voids the warranty and is frowned upon by all but the community that supports it. I understand the complications with unauthorized applications, custom ringtones and such of the like, but why are these features - supported by the hardware - not standard on a stock OOB iphone?I am not about to do this, as I like my phone and the warranty with it, but I move to question apples motives when they decided to not include all the capabilities of the hardware - but rather limit it by the software included.Why have you limited the iPhones? Why do I not have the video recording capability, when I am absolutely sure my device supports it? A Jailbroken 3G can;Install custom themes (something a $100 nokia is capable of)Record videoZoomThese are all I am disputing. The rest of the capabilities of a jailbroken iphone I can agree with restricting and not supporting, but I do believe that you, the company that produces it, should at least provide the following for legitimate users of iPhones. I mean cmon - If a nokia can change themes, why cant an iphone - Dubbed the next generation of smart devices - and why limit the capabilities. An iphone should be able to do everything a normal phone can do and more. I've just downloaded and installed iphone 2.1 software and, like iPod 2.1 a few days ago, the changes are important. There are scant new features around the fringe, but the bugfixes and streamlining are significant.On the surface everything appears the same. But it is not. Apple has listed the following features and fixes: Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls Significantly better battery life for most users Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts Faster installation of 3rd party applications Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications Improved performance in text messaging Faster loading and searching of contacts Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts Genius playlist creationThe update went even more quickly than the iPod 2.1 update (for which I did a restore instead of an update). No hitches and only one restart. This is suspiciously easy.Fantastic is all I can say about the final result. Finally, I can sync my iphone like I did in version 1. I added a full album and it only took about 2 minutes to update the iphone. These stupid 100mb games I bought also don't crash the iphone when I try to install them. ive waited for the iphone 3G to finally come out, but what i was not prepared for are the features. Yes, the Apple iphone is one heck of a phone, stylish, and equipped with features i would mo probably want in a high end phone, but hey, there are some things i would at least want from it from future updates :1. Ability to forward contacts from my list, Nokia has it, why not the iphone? this feature makes it easier for Marketing people like me to easily send vcards to people.2. Ability to copy, cut, paste and forward simple texts. Regardless where it came from, from a plain HTML encrypted website, or from a previous SMS conversation, this feature will add, if not value, convenience to the user. Need I say more?3. Ability to customize themes. Hey, its all about individuality. Had you place two iPhones side by side, you wont be able to distinguish which one is yours. Is my mac or macbook uncustomizable? **** no, so why should my iphone be restricted? Again, Nokia has the freedom to customize your unit.4. Bluetooth file transfer.5. MMS. Sure we have email.
