Music suddenly starts playing on its own iphone 4

I have a iphone 4 (32GB) running 4.0.2 and over the past week or two I have noticed that once in a while whatever music I have currently paused on my phone will just start to play. In fact it just happened again now. The iphone was just sitting on my desk next to me in sleep mode and the music just suddenly started to play on it. It happened a few days ago as well when I was walking around a store with the phone in the side holster I have. I have tried rebooting the phone (even a hard reboot). Is there some app that might be causing this? Many times it has happened the iphone is in sleep mode (screen locked) so it isnt as if me touching it in some way would do that. It happened again today when I ran the Weather Channel app on the iphone the iPod started to play. Very strange. Intel Core i7 920 Windows 7 64bit Windows 7

Maybe it takes awhile, but when I tap voice mail, the phone dials my voice mail and logs in. It doesnt seem to do the visual voice mail part. I just got it today. Is there a lag time? I did get an activated message, however, so I know it is activated.I did try to reset network settings. Netflix crashes after 3 seconds of play iphone 3G

So lets add insult to injury, Not only am I having to deal with the Sluggish non Responsive at times paper weight POS I used to call a reliable iphone 3G before the 4.0 software upgrade, but now after months of waiting for Netflix to release to iphone yep Im meet with yet more disappointment. When I try to watch a Movie I get 3 seconds then the screen freezes and it crashes taking me back to the Netflix pick a movie screen. I have tried restoring my phone new, removing the app re adding it going into the settings and selecting reset all to no avail. This happens regardless of my connection full 3G signal or full WiFi signal. any one else having this issue or figured out a solution? I-Phone 3G iOS 4 P.O.S thanks to SW version 4.0

Passcode Failed iphone 3G

Ive been using the same passcode for several months now (so I know that I am putting in the correct passcode). Its set to ask for it after 4 hours of inactivity. Last night, I updated 4 apps before going to sleep. Now, this morning my passcode is not being accepted and I am getting locked out. I have tried restarting and hard restarting, but no luck.How can this be fixed without doing a back-up reinstall? iphone 3g got stuck in apple logo after resetting

I tried to reset my iphone3g with the option which will delete all the datas and medias from the settings of iphone.It said it would take one hour or so to complete but its more than three hours and my iphone wont start.it gets stucked in the apple logo after restarting and the circle of working appears continuously.What should i do? Wont Restore Error 29. What Now iphone 3G

This is a phone which I dont know the history of. It was given to me today to see if I can get it going. So far, when attempting to restore it, I get Error 29. I believe OS4 was installed prior to this issue but Im not sure. Heres the details. Had glass screen replaced now iphone randomly shuts down

My wife very recently had her glass screen replaced after a nasty crack. Everything was fine for the first 24 hours or so; now the phone continues to randomly shut off. The screen was replaced (for free!) at an Apple Store Genius Bar, not a random cell phone store. Shes performed a couple hard resets, but no luck. At this point Im thinking she should take it back in and have it troubleshot by them, however her time is precious (busy business professional!) so I was curious if anyone on the boards had any ideas before making another appointment...Any input is much appreciated!! while upgrading my iphone 3g it stopped working so i attempted to restore. it goes so far then just stops on the restoring iphone software screen. i have tried hard reset but same thing happens when i plug it back in. any help would be good thanks.

Hi Team,Yes i am getting the same error as everyone else BUT as i am the systems engineer i looked on our primary domain controllyer (SBS 2003) i noticed in the event viewer under security we are getting the following error: logon failed :reason unknown username or bad password. now i have double and tripple checked the password and then reset it to password and then tried and then reset it back again and i still get the error Message. it does not seem to matter if i have ssl on or off i am still having this issue. i have been having i have not been able to fix this issue since the upgrade on thursday (and it is the CEOs iphone.) OK, so a few days ago I finally got around to upping to iOS 4.02. The next day, I started getting an abhorrent number of dropped calls, fail to connects, no internet service, the works. Mostly while driving, making this more annoying (the little bzzzzzzzz of a dropped call in my earpiece, not so fun.I am, in fact, in possession of a clue (as well as a degree in Information Systems), so I start troubleshooting on my own. Jumping into an out of Airplane mode (force to look for network) results in a temporary fix - as in, about 3 seconds of connectivity. Resetting ALL network settings seems to result in about the same. After three or four cycles of this, the phone drops service again, but displays a message saying that it was unable to make or recieve calls, and that I needed to preform a restore.Which I did. And it worked. For thirty seconds, and then I got the same message.So I restored. Again. reset network settings again, just to be safe.It just dropped a call on me to my mother. Im going to have a lot of fun hearing about how I hung up on her, except that I have... you guessed it, No Service. No restore message though.Im using a silicone case, the phone is sitting on my desk now, wasnt touching it, let alone the antenna when any of this happened, using my headset actually, my wifes got 5 bars of tower even using the death grip, and so does my old 3G (work pays for it, so I have 3 AT&T lines) and Im less than a mile away from a tower, and we usually get really good service here. I dont think its an AT&T problem b/c my other lines are fine.Im out of suggestions. Anyone else seeing anything like this? iphone 4 iOS 4 ?

iphone wont turn on

I think I am fuked. My iphone was constantly freezing today. I did a reset (holding down home and power button) I did that twice. I wanted to sync my phone into iTunes so that I could have all of my photos on my computer before my phone stopped working. Well no point. Wont sync. I try turning it on and syncing and all it does is show the apple logo then it shuts down. I am about to cry right now because all my photos from my trip and my text messages are gone. I cant even get my phone on to even try and reset it. I dont know what to do. Windows XP

Upgraded to 4.0.2-backup files look weird iphone 3G

I have upgraded a 3G to 4.0.2. The upgrade did NOT invite me to do a backup. (Im scared stiff doing upgardes of any sort and always opt for backups if Im given the chance!) I dont understand why the files which are on my hard disk where (I think) backups should be dont seem to match the backups that iTunes thinks I have. Please can anyone explain to me why they look different and what backups I do really have?On my hard disk in location Macintosh HD-Users-myname-Library-iTunes-iphone Software Updates I have just one item. It is called iPhone1,2_4.0.2_8A400_Restore.ipsw and it was modified at the time I did the upgrade to 4.0.2. It is 305.4MB. In that folder of iphone Software Updates there is nothing else and the folder itself was modified at the exact same time ie when I did the upgrade.However, if I look in iTunes under iTunes-Preferences-Devices under Device backups it tells me I have 3: the first is dated when I did the upgrade to 4.0.2; the next is from 20 months ago; and the 3rd is from 6 months ago.To me it seems that iTunes thinks I have 3 backups but I can only see 1 on my hard disk.Please can someone explain whats going on?

Belkin Clear hard Case iphone 4

The Shield Micra case. This was my free case through the case program. Cant say anything good about it. Literally 3 cents worth of plastic and the top and bottom are completely open and not protective at all. Opening for volume buttons is too small btw. No one with average hand size will like it. I have another clear case I really like (no brand from handhelditems.com). But I thought, well try the Belkin. A half hour later I finally succeeded in getting my phone out of the darn thing and had to be VERY careful not to damage the phone in the process. There is NO EASY WAY to take the phone out to clean. Hello. Im having problems getting my iPhones GPS to get a proper lock. It works with the aGPS but I dont get the blinking blue dot on Google Maps. I need some help or advice. My iphone crashed when I upgrade from 4.01 to 4.02. It asked me whether I would like to reset. I said yes thinking it will take me back to 4.01. Actually it takes me back to the day I purchased the phone. That is to say, I lost all my programmes ( I can download them again). The worst part is, I lost my phonebook and emails account. iphone 4 Problem With Email and Spotlight

I have a problem... When i try to delete a discussion on Mail the application just quits and i have to hard reset to get it to work. And that is not all when i try to search in spotlight iphone for the weather a weird application called Web shows up as the top hit, and i have never used it so i try it immedietly after i do the iphone 4 shows the apple screen and restarts. So what do i do? Bumper falling apart iphone 4

Ive had the bumper since launch day, and remove it every 1-2 weeks to clean off my phone. The other day, the rubber part near the dock connector started to break off from the hard plastic edge. white screen prob and beyond iphone 3G

I have an iphone 3G and I dont really know what happened. one day it just had a white screen and is not recognised by my computer. however I do get the beep from the computer to tell me that it has connected. what I have tried:1. i was going to restore it but its not recognized so cant do that2. tried to reset it with home and power buttons. all it does is give me the apple screen and then back to the white screen and off.3. tried a hard reset where i hold the home, power and up volume buttons. i get the same result as a normal reset.4. Hi, I know what happened to my iphone 3G. Today, it was working perfectly but this night, the home button stop working. So I closed it with the top button, once restarted, the home button wasnt working. But then, it became really slow, everything had a delay of 6 seconds. I try to restart it but it got stuck the shutdown circle animation. And without the home button, I couldnt hard reset it. But suddenly, the screen goes black and now, nothing work. But when I plug it on my mac, iTunes display an error 0xE8000065.Jeez, I totally lost. I was waiting for the iphone 4 but I dont when it gonna release in Canada. Issue with pressing down on Home Button iphone 4

I have had my iphone 4 since launch day abd have had no issues with it. Runs great, but I went ahead and got the free bumper just in case and sure enough after getting it and putting it on, I was at a concert and had it knocked out of my hand. Causing it to hit tue cement pretty hard =/Since then, my home button doesnt work quite as well. Phone itself is in perfect condition still, just the button has the be pressed many time for it to actually work. I was wondering what could be done about this. Take it to the apple store perhaps? I didnt get the extended warranty, but Im not sure if this would be covered. Also my warranty might be void since my phone two days later took a dive in water. 3 days in a bowl of rice and the phone works tine. But that little water strip, wherever it is would kill the warranty option.Just wanted to see what my options were. Its most likely something knocked out of place or mabe a loose connection now. But its starting to get annoying, haveong to press the button many times to get it to work.Thank you for any info and advice.

iphone not syncing bookmarks accurately

My iphone 4 is set to automatically sync with mobile me. Problem is, bookmarks are not syncing properly while everything else is. What Ive done:-Removed and then added my mobileme account twice-Several hard restarts-reset sync data on mobileme with computer data 3 timesThe iphone keeps coming up with a bookmarks bar that has only about 5% of what my bookmarks bar on mac has. Recurring Compass Calibration Issue iphone 4

Hi,since a few days (but before the 4.01 upgrade) I am having a strange issue with the compass.Every time I start an app using the compass it prompts me to calibrate it using the 8 pattern.This is no problem for me, after doing the descrobed figure, the compass is calibrated and works fine.Now the problem:I quit the compass app and open it again at exactly the same spot where I was standing and the calibration message appears again. This happens every single time i open a compass app, regardless of where I am. Even when hiking in the mountains (where it is very annoying to recalibrate the compass every time i switch apps).It seems to be a sofware issue with the calibration data which does not get saved permanently after calibration.I found out that the compass works again normally and keeps the calibration after i do a complete reset of the iphone including deleting all data (only deleting the settings did not work).The problem is that after I restore my iphone from the iTunes Backup, the calibration issue arises again. So now I have the choice of keeping all my application-data and settings or having a functioning compass. This is very annoying for me. Any ideas? Stuck-black screen and continuous vibrator iphone 4

HelloMy iphone 4 decided suddenly in the middle of a game to go black and stop.Nothing to do (hard reboot and other things, not recognized by iTunes).Then upon plugging it to recharge, the vibrator started to be continuous unplugged and the vibration continued for hours until discharged I suppose.Then everytime I plug it, the vibrator starts and nothing on the screen.A solution ? Apple bluetooth headsett doesnt sync with iphone 4 or charge

The Apple bluetooth Headset that used to work with my iphone 3g does not charge or sync with the iphone 4. Is this a known problem? In other words the usb cable that connects the headset device to the iphone doesnt allow that headset icon to appear on the static home screen indicating a connection and a charge. Well hopefully you are not reading this becuase like me your were stupid enough to cave in to the freaking nags on I-Tunes and updated your I-Phone software to 4.0.2. Now your phone is no better than a coffee can and a string.Anyway I know it has been posted by other people but I followed the advice at this link on re-booting my I-Phone after I did a restore on I-Tunes first. iphone 4 No sound from earpiece

Afternoon,this is the first time i have ever registered on a forum or posted a message but i feel so frustrated by the problem that it has forced me to do so.Basically, i was really happy with my iphone 4 up until about a week ago and am now riddled with issues. First off, i have never had a 3G signal (this was not an issue with my iphone 3G so no comments about area, and yes, the function is turned on in settings). Apparently it has something to do with VPN settings getting corrupt when restoring from backup to a new phone. Ok, so ill reset my phone and delete the corrupt settings. Issue resolved but still a pain.Secondly and most importantly, my lovely new iphone 4 has suddenly started dropping sound from the earpiece, and the person on the other end cant hear me also. I have done extensive research into solving the issue and apparently it is a common problem. (to those out there thinking they had this problem but realising they hadnt removed the protective film - REALLY!!!!)So, i have tried resetting the phone, restarting the phone, restoring the phone (if there was any more re....s that i could do, i would) and sometimes it works but the problem always comes back. One other thing that sometimes works is inserting and removing your headphones into the socket a few times - like i really want to be doing that all day to make a call.It seems that the phone is getting confused as to what mode it is when making a call and lots of people are having the same problem.The only real fix - get a new phone.Final problem, it means me visiting an Apple Store to resolve the issue. I dont live anywhere near an Apple Store, brilliant.I think ive made myself quite clear.Laters. iMac

I am trying to use location services in maps for example and since i got ios 4 today, it tells me cannot determine your location. After being a happy Apple consumer for several years, Ive been hit hard in the last 3 months with very disappointing problems. 1) A hard drive death left me with a very very painful, 12 hour restore process using Time machine, so for me, Time Machine is dead, Its CCC all the way from now on. (full disk restore in 2hrs using CCC)2) After the horrible slowness with iphone 3G iOS4 and no (supported) way to revert back, I consider my iphone nearly useless. Id be more the happy to buy an iphone 4 except that:3) Issues with AT&T leave me wanting to not give them a single more $ then I absolutely have to. Granted this is not an Apple issue, except for Appless inability or unwillingness to support a different carrier.Consequently, my next phone and possibly my next computer will not be an Apple. Beware guys...I received my black bumper about a week ago now. Took off the bumper tonight to clean my phone down and there are scratch marks on the steel band from the bumper (this is caused from the pieces of hard plastic on the underside of the bumper. New dialing problem w 4.0.2 iphone 4

Yesterday I had a problem dialing. My calls appeared to dial correctly, but NO connection resulted after trying 3 or 4 different numbers. No ringing tone was heard even though the phone said it was dialing. I was starting to think there was a network problem. Finally in desperation, I did a reboot (not the reset with the home button AND the top button.) Just the top button to shut the phone down completely and then an immediate restart.After that the phone dialed correctly. Im going to stick with present phone unless this becomes a frequent deal, but this new IP4 is starting to torque me off a bit. Facetime Waiting for Activation Issue When switching S cards iphone 4

I have an unlocked iphone 4 from the UK. I first had an Orange France SIM card installed and all went well... Facetime was working fine. However, when I came to Dubai I inserted my local (Etisalat) SIM. The phone was functioning ok, except for Facetime. When I tried to switch it on from Settings, it kept saying Waiting for Activation.I am an advanced user. So, all basic things are checked: WiFi, Tried to reboot phone, tried hard reset, even tried Total restore, tried different WiFi network, SMS working, MMS working, 3G working...etc. I even tried the solution on Apples site (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4246).... Still no luck.Few things to note:1) I have a friend who has iphone 4 on the same Etisalat network, and his Facetime works fine. The only difference is that Etisalat was the first SIM he put in.2) I tried to switch back to my Orange SIM while still in Dubai, and at first, Facetime showed Waiting for Activation, BUT when I rebooted, it was active and working fine... tried to insert the Etisalat SIM after that... and back to waiting for activation issue.3) Did same above with my AT&T SIM ... and got same result as with Orange France SIM4) Tried to call 888-facetime and they just referred me to the case referenced above, and the simple answer that your carrier may not support it! Thanks!!! I told the guy I know someone on the same network working on Facetime.I think the problem is that Facetime needs to be re-registered from the Orange # to the Etisalat # and for some reason that is not happening smoothly to the Etisalat #... Incase Slider for iphone 4

Just received my new Incase Slider black for iphone 4 this afternoon via UPS. Its a really nice case compared to the other early rush-designed cases that I have purchased for my i4.I started with the Belkin GripVue clear (was the only case available on launch day) and has been the go-to case until I received my Slider today.Next came the black Replicase (which was neat because it replicated the back of the phone and was a minimalistic case) but it didnt last long as it was almost as slippery as the phones back and I havent seen them on ebay lately as I am sure Apple sent a cease and desist to them for using the logo on the back and even the model and FCC logos.Last came the hard Candy Buble Slider in black matte finish. This is the closest case to the Incase Slider but the fit and finish is not there. Sloppy molding and loose fit sides that creak when you grip the phone which would eventually scratch the phone because of movement spelled doom for this case. Its nice looking but for $30+ dollars its nowhere near the quality it needs to be.I was really down on Incase for taking so long to release a case but once I have put it on the phone I now realize that they needed the extra time to get the case right. If you want a black matte hard case that also allows your older dock cables to work then the Incase Slider at least for me is the defacto standard. iphone 4 iOS 4

iphone3g crashed during factory reset

Can anyone help please? During a factory reset of my iphone3g the battery ran out of power and the reset did not complete. I am now unable to use or reset my phone. I can turn on my iphone but the apple logo appears for approx 5 seconds and then the phone turns off. itunes and my pc cannot see the phone if I connect via the usb cable. My iphone 4 wont push email.

I have 4.0.1 installed on my iphone. I have it set to push Yahoo, GMail and MobileMe mail. Ive noticed lately that it wont push any email over night. PCiTunes dont recognize iphone

Up until yesterday I was not having any trouble synching my iphone with my laptop. Today I cant even get the laptop to recognize the iphone.When I plug it in my phone makes the connecting sound, and it also starts charging. But the iphone doesnt show up either in iTunes or in My Computer. I dont know if this had anything to do with it, but I had some trouble with a sync just before this happened and ended up disconnecting the iphone in the middle of the sync.I can connect it to my PC and sync it there, so I know it isnt the cable. Its only my laptop that has issues.Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Ive tried reinstalling iTunes, Ive tried resetting the iphone, Ive tried rebooting ... iphone 4 Memory Issues

I have recently been experiencing what I believe to be memory issue with my iphone 4….I am thinking they correlate to my updating to 4.0.2, but I can’ be certain. So here is the problem….I will be functioning within a App and it will “Express Exit”, the App will show on the Multitasking list and when I launch it, it starts where it left off…but immediately closes again. Once it starts happening with one, it happens with all…until I restart the phone. Once I restart the phone, I can operate normally for a little while…but depending my usage it may not last long(usually have to restart between 4 to 6 six times a day). I am very anal about leaving a bunch of stuff running in Multitasking, if I am not going to get right back in the App then I completely close it. I have downloaded the FreeMemory App and checked the amount of available memory when this behavior occurs and it is indeed very low(somewhere in the 40s). Also, as a test I have restarted the phone and immediately launched only the Free Memory app and my available memory constantly trickles down to the 40s and then the Free Memory App closes. Now, I know the Free Memory app is going to take some resources…but I don’t think it would explain that drastic of a drop. Is anyone else having similar issues? Tonight I plan to reset my phone back to factory settings and set everything up again…hoping I just have a glitch. I will post the results. iphone 4 iOS 4

Hi, a couple nights ago I updated to ios 4.0.2.I have 2 3g iPhones and after the update one was working. The other lost the wifi completely.
