Not Getting Voicemail Notification iphone

I just noticed I havent been getting voicemail notifications for a couple weeks, maybe since the 3.0 update. I have to call my number to retrieve them. When I try to reset my voicemail password through the phone, it says Voicemail Unavailable. I am in a full 3G signal area. Id love to not have to do a restore as that takes forever with all the apps I have. Any ideas?Thanks,J iphone 3G

Volume too low with phone calls iphone

I have to use my ear buds with calls. When using the phone to make calls or receive, the volume is so low that I cant hear. I have tried to reset with the airplane mode, turned off wifi, and reset my 3Gs. Anyone have a similar problem. I had this problem with my new 3Gs so after numerous calls to Apple support, it was returned and the same thing happened with the new one. I wonder if there is an issue with my PC and syncing, maybe a virus that is causing this problem when I sync?? iphone OS 3.0

Greetings, I recently had an issue where my phone needed to be reset from new. So, iTunes is supposed to be able to restore my phone to what I had before it wiped out. Why are my notes and contacts not restored? Or, if they can be restored, why did it miss them or where can I find that file to restore it manually? Well I got my hopes up thinking we would have a mark as read or mark all as read function in Exchange (or any) e-mail on the iphone. Come on. how hard is this? Its so annoying when youre home or on vacation and you want to tell your phone, Yes, I see I have e-mail, now get rid of the new mail notification, without having to actually open up every single e-mail! Still Frozen after reset. iphone 3G

My phone is still frozen even after trying the reset. During the reset (holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 10 seconds) I never see the red power off slider but do get the apple logo after that the screen just shows the apple logo for a few seconds then goes black. I have had non stop issues with battery life after upgrading to the 3.0 software. 2.2 was great and never had any issues. Since 3.0 my battery life would drain so fast it was really bad and using the phone as normal was just not happening. After 5 restores even using no backups and restoring as a new phone didnt work. Well I have finally solved my battery problem and you can too!I started with a full charge at 630pm and now at 1230am I am still at 85% with wifi on, fetch hourly, brightness 70%, location services on, checking rss feeds, downloaded two apps from app store, used google and watched youtube. And plenty of texts. Pretty solid if you ask me. So here is what I did.1. Go to Settings app on the iphone > General > Scroll down to reset and the select the top option to reset All Settings This will reset the settings and reboot.2. Now go into your iTunes folder - Home > Library > iTunes > iphone Software Updates. and delete the 3.0 Firm Ware from the list.3. Now plug your phone and connect to iTunes. Click restore and download a FRESH copy of the 3.0FW.4. Once downloaded DO NOT restore from a back up. Set up as a new phone an once the restore is complete, manually add your data by syncing. Again do not use a back up during this process. Just act like you are starting from scratch. (contacts, music, etc.) Please let me know how this works for you. I was about to return my 3G for a refurb because the battery life was absolutely horrible. But this works i swear!!! I am going to upgrade to the 3Gs from the 3G. Can I then use my old 3G just like an iPod touch (ie. not activating the phone part) and still have all the functionality of the new OS 3.0? Would I have to replace the SIM or reset the phone to its original state? Windows Vista

Custom ringtone settings not saved iphone 3G

Anyone know if there is anything that can be done to preserve ringtone settings? I installed the 3.0 update, and everything went flawlessly, except (just like other updates) the custom ringtones I have assigned to a few directory entries changed back to default. Not really a big deal for me because I only have a few assigned (my immediate family). But it will be a real pain when I apply the update to my wifes phone. She has a assigned a unique ringtone to nearly EVERYONE in her directory <sigh>.I am extremely happy with the new update, but it seems like such a small data element would not be that hard to backup. Temperamental Home Button iphone 3G

Since updating to 3.0, although not straight after, the home button has become very temperamental. There isnt any difference in how it feels to press it (i.e. it doesnt feel broken) but sometimes I press it and it just doesnt do anything, whether it be waking from sleep or closing applications. Other times it will work OK, but this seems to be in the minority at the moment.Ive done a reset which hasnt made any difference.Has anyone else had this issue? I went from iphone 3G to 3Gs and have data plan and unlimited text. I get everything to work except visual voicemail. When I go to phone icon and hit the voicemail button, it dials my voicemail (similar to when you would push and hold 1 in the pre iphone days. AT&T can resolve and have switched out phone. iphone 3G no longer vibrates HELP

As the title suggests, my iphone doesnt seem to be vibrating anymore at all. Ive tried changing various settings, switching the vibrate switch on and off, restarting the phone, doing a hard reset (by holding down the home and standby buttons at the same time) and nothing has worked. I have a major problem with this because I generally keep it set on vibrate mode and without it, I cant tell if im being called or texted or anything. Does anybody know if theres a way to fix this? It only started happening today, and I havent dropped the phone or anything at all. Is this a bug with 3.0 maybe, or is my hardware physically screwed? 2.2 ghz SR MBP Mac OS X (10.5.7)

White Screen On Phone Wont Go Away iphone 3G

My 3G is acting up. I got the white screen thing that Ive read about. Went on Google to get info as how to remedy it. Did the hard reset probably 20 times and restored my phone probably 10 times. My laptop recognizes my phone, iTunes recognizes it, and it syncs fine. Also, I can unlock the phone and hear it unlock and slide through my main screens and hear the sounds it makes, which leads me to believe that the phone is still operational, but there is something wrong with the screen. When I do a hard reset, the Apple logo never shows up. The screen goes off, then comes back on white, and it proceeds to do the same thing again. I dont have an Apple store within reasonable distance to me, nor do I have an AT&T store that sells iphone (my town is too small for them to sell it apparently). Any help? I have a feeling Im going to have to buy a new LCD screen or take it to a refurb shop in the next town over. Toshiba Satellite Windows Vista

A few drops of syrup from a cup of mandarin oranges spilled on my phone. I wiped it down with a damp cloth but it seems some got in the earpiece, as when I make a call the other persons voice is faint and a little hard to hear. I gave the earpiece another wipe with a damp cloth but its still not loud. I bought my phone on April 25 from and AT&T store and did NOT buy the insurance or the Apple Icare. I dont recall if AT&Ts insurance covers the iphone or if I have to buy the Apple icare, and since I have neither is there anything I can do? I guess I can get the insurance now, though...

Slow Backups iphone 3G

I have loads of trouble everytime I sync my Phone. The backup takes forever or its freezing. It stops about a quarter of the way through. I cant even download 3.0 cause it cant get past the backup stage. I have mobileme so I have all things synced to it not on the phone itself. Very few apps only one page if you know what I mean. Removed photos, text conversations I dont know what to do. I have also tried a default reset but it only works once. I dont know what it could be... HELP!! how I use my old 3G as an iPod Touch iphone

After getting my new 3GS, I reset/erased all date from the 3g, wanting to use it as an ipod touch. However, when I plugged it back into my laptop (per the 3gs instructions) it told me it was waiting for activation, and iTunes then gave me the option of either using it as a new phone or restoring from a back up, neither of which I wanted to do. I guess the original iphone was able to be used as an iPod following deactivation, but I am unable to get my old 3G to do the same.... Any suggestions? Thanks!

Cannot log into iTunes on iphone

After upgrading to 3.0, I havent been able to log into iTunes to download application updates or applications through the iphone. It keeps giving me the error that the password I entered was incorrect. When trying to use iforgot to reset it, it tells me my ID doesnt exist. I can log into iTunes fine on my mac. The funny thing is that when I plug my iphone into my mac and log into iTunes on my iphone when it is plugged in, it will work! But upon unplugging it, it goes back to not working on the iphone. On a second note, I use my aol account for iTunes. I can log into iTunes on my iphone fine with my apple ID, but that account is not used for purchasing things on iTunes.Any ideas? Why cache on Safari so weak iphone 3G

Is it just me or is the cache iPhones safari not useful. I mean, is there cache at all? Its hard to tell because the only thing you can do with it is clear it. Where are the other settings for it? I dont see why I have to continually reload pages when I hit the back button or return to another tab. I have all this flash memory sitting empty that Safari could be using to hold these web pages so I dont have to sit and wait 30 to 60 seconds every time I switch pages.I see the cache switch under Safaris settings, but i dont see a way to set the max size of the cache. Im thinking there must be a way to set a user specific size for the cache. Seems like an integral part of any browser. Is there a way to up the size of cache. I have an iphone 3G that I had the 3.0 GM OS on and I cant find the tethering option where Apple says its supposed to be: in the General > Network preference pane. Ive reset, restored and re-reset to try to see this option, but its never there. Anyone have a similar problem? I tried to update my iphone 3G to firmware 3.0 on my Windows XP laptop (Dell mini 9 with external hard drive) using iTunes 8.2 and I bricked the device to the point where iTunes would not even recognize its presence. I succesfully put it in DFU mode, but iTunes still couldnt recognize it. So I installed iTunes 8 on a computer at work with Windows XP also, and I was able to recover and update my iphone 3G flawlessly. Now Im restoring my iPhones backup from my Dell Mini.Can anyone explain why my Dell Mini laptop bricked my iphone in the first place and stopped recognizing it while the other one worked as a charm???? iphone 3G 3.0 lose wifi when using bluetooth

OK, I updated to the 3.0 software yesterday and now Im having a weird problem with my wifi when I use by bluetooth headset. Whenever I use my bluetooth headset on a call my wifi signal dies to the point where it wont connect anymore to the AP anymore. This only happens when the phone is using the bluetooth headset, once I change the audio source back to the phone or speaker the wifi signal comes right back to full bars. I have try hard rebooting and resetting the network setting but nothing has helped. Any thoughts? Custom Built PC

Screen goes blank after 2 rings when phone locked iphone

This might seem like a dumb question if this is how the phone is designed to work, but when Im using the phone, and the screen is on, the answer/caller id screen stays on the entire time the phone is ringing (as I would definitely expect). However when the phone is locked, the slide to answer/caller id screen goes blank after 2 rings, but the phone continues to ring the final 3 rings (my ringtone is Old Phone). So the only way to see who is calling or answer the phone if I dont get to it by the second ring, when the phone is locked, is to click the home button. Reverting to 2.2.1 iphone 3G

Is there any way to revert back from 3.0 to 2.2.1?After an upgrade, turning off Push, and lots of futzing around, the iphone seems a lot less stable than it was before. Apps often just crash out after opening for no reason, and this persists after a reset. Ive run into the problems others have with Wifi access, and so on.Life is too short to keep trying to fix it; 3.0s not ready for prime time. Using it is feeling like a chore rather than fun. how can I get it back to 2.2.1?Thanks

I ordered my 16GB 3GS iphone online yesterday but plan on getting a case at my local Best Buy before next friday because if i do that day, i know there will be tons of people looking for cases aswell. Help Since 3.0 Update 3G not work nor SMS iphone

Last night I updated my I Phone to the 3.0. Since doing this, I cannot make phone calls or send text messages nor mms messages.I tried my sim in another phone and there is no problem with that. After getting my husband to take a look we found that if we disabled the 3G we could make phone calls but still cannot send text messages. A colleague of mine who is also on Optus/Virgin is also having the same problems. He has tried rebooting, hard reset but still nothing. iphone 3.0 upgrade Mail Application Not Working 3G

Greetings, After upgrading to 3.0 software, all applications seem to work, with some slightly longer loading times....except for one!The one application that will not work...MAIL_______________________________________________Upon launching mail, the application will load show my inbox and try to retrieve mail. Usually within 10 seconds it kicks back out to the home screen. Other variations of this problem are not loading the mail program at all as well as loading the mail app accepting some input, then black screen to home screen reload.The only other variation of this was once mail started, I tried to hold my finger on the screen and scroll. Wait until the application was done checking for mail. Up in the top left corner of the screen the working or loading icon is still in action. As soon as I let go of the scrolling, I get kicked out. Last variation on this theme was the upper left loading icon NOT occuring, I release scroll and then kicked out of mail application.I tried turning off each individual mail account (I have three set up, hotmail, gmail, .mac). I also tried turning all mail accounts off. I tried turning on and off push and fetch features on each individual account and running mail. Absolutely NO luck in any variation.Turning the iphone into AIRPLANE mode allowed me to run mail, read emails. I even thought perhaps I was able to delete messages. Once I turned AIRPLANE mode off, and relaunched mail app, all emails were reloaded and I was kicked out.I have had no problems with mail app in the past in any fashion. Updating to 3.0 has locked me out of my most often used application.I have been searching forums and Google all day with no luck to anyone else stating this problem. The software was only released today, so perhaps not everyone has used each application throughly yet, or have not posted their problems.I have tried turning device on and off, hard reset, soft reset, power down, plugging in, syncing.The one HUGE problem I have is that I backed up before upgrading, BUT, Apple does not allow us to create NEW backups. So, without me knowing, when I hit SYNC to try to update, it overwrote my 2.1 backup. (Which by the way is so frustrating. Why can we not say create new backup, rename them, choose which back up to restore from?)Alas, I am stuck in purgatory with no access or clear idea how to proceed in getting mail running again.Has ANYone else had anything similar to this, or possibly found a work around?Your input is much appreciated,Cheers,E! Hey everybody. I have recently bought a used iphone 3G black 8GB off eBay. I knew there were problems with the speaker and hold button, but they failed to mention it wouldnt work. So I contacted them and have yet to get a response. It is running 2.2.1 firmware. I believe it is jailbroken and unlocked. Under General Settings (Settings>General) it says the network is not available, and under Carrier it says (null) (null). It also will not Import my contacts from my SIM card. iphone 3G and latest itunes update takes 4hrs to sync

I downloaded the newest itunes and it now lags and takes 4+hours to sync with my iphone 3g. I get the spinning color wheel. I have tried to reinstall itunes twice. I dont have any music and only have used about 1gig of space with apps. Any ideas? Please!?! I have also checked my disks with disk utility as well as done cleaning with OnyX. Plenty of hard drive space. MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

iphone cant sync since dead drive 3G

I generally use my iphone as a standalone device I rarely sync it to my mac, and buy music and download podcasts from the ITMS via wifi. The device hasnt been backed up in five months.Four months ago I had a hard drive failure on my laptop and I lost my itunes library file. Now when I try to sync itunes does not recognize the iphone and wont let me sync back to my ibook. I have a stack of purchases, address book and calender updates etc etc on the device and am worried that itll all get lost when I attempt to upgrade to version 3.0Is there away to save my data?Cheers iBook 12.1" 1gb ram Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Searching for service in places where other iphone3gs are have full bars

Lately, in places where I have normally gotten service, my iphone3G has been Searching... for service. Even last night I was at the movies with a friend who has an iphone3g. He had full bars and I was still Searching. After 30 seconds or so, it reads No service. However, at times, when I power it off and then on, the signal returns and Ill have service. Problem is, I doubt if i took my iphone3g to the Apple Store, it would not get service. Is this an issue I would have to go to an Apple Store for? Is there a way to reset the connection?
