Why is there not an option available to extend the iPhone warranty to an international warranty? Especially with a phone that you tend to take with you whenever you travel having to go to the country you bought it originally is a pain and sometimes not feasible. In my case : when I travelled from Hong Kong to a business trip in the Netherlands and then on to the US my iPhone 5 got stolen at the airport in Hong Kong. luckily I only had a prepaid SIM for Hong Kong in the iPhone so I went online and ordered a new simlock free iPhone 5 at the Dutch online Apple store to be delivered in Amsterdam a few days later. So far, so good. I am currently in China and my iPhone 5 sleep button broke down. As I had to be in Hong Kong last week I thought I would stop by the Causeway Bay Apple Store after making a genius bar appointment. They checked the iPhone 5 and confirmed the sleep button was broken and it would be swapped for a new one. However on checking my serial number they told me I had to go back to The Netherlands to get it fixed.... So here is a problem, I am not planning on being there any time soon. Why is it not possible in the global economy we live in to get an international warranty? I called Apple Care and they suggested I could try in an Apple store in North Carolina where I am due in a few weeks, but they could not guarantee they would swap the phone. Now the end of July I am due in the UK and from what I read now an iPhone bought in any EU country could be swapped in another EU country. so that would mean I could swap it in London? Very odd. Always travel with my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and these do have international warranty.
I was planning on buying a 32GB unlocked iPhone 5 with the T-Mobile Nano Sim. I was going to activate the Sim with T-Mobile's prepaid $30 unltd text/data with 100 minutes plan. I've read some stories online where people were only able to use the Sim with T-Mobile's post-paid plans. Will the Sim that comes included work with prepaid and post-paid plans? Also, assuming that it does work with prepaid, what steps would I need to go through to activate the iPhone? Assuming that it doesn't, would cutting down a prepaid Micro Sim from T-Mobile to Nano Sim size work normally? Thank you in advance!

Just bought a brand new iPhone 5 from Rogers (canada) in December. For the month that I've had it I've had MAJOR problems with this device. I've had no major problems with my iPhone 3G and iPhone 4S, by the way.- Incoming calls get randomly dropped. No "busy signal", the line simply drops dead for whoever tries to call me. It doesn't even alert me that someone tried to call me. I'll only find out later if that person attempts to call again. But what if it's an important call and the person doesn't try calling again? Then I'm screwed. I've tested this by calling my iPhone 5 from another cellphone by holding each phone in one hand. Out of 20 calls, at least 4-5 calls are dropped- Touch screen irresponsive- Very weak signal (on my 3G and 4S the signal bar is usually completely full or one bar from full, on my iPhone 5 it's almost always only half full or less), the signal drops randomly outside (especially when I'm driving, the signal will just poof)I've already exchanged the phone TWICE. First time they exchanged it without question. Second time they told me it could be a carrier issue then told me to reset, restore, etc etc, then gave me a new one again. I'm on my third one, none of these problems are fixed.What are the chances I got 3 defective phones in a row? Seriously what is going on here? I've installed pretty much nothing on this phone except Facebook, Twitter, and Skype. Yes I've resetted and restore like N times, and I'm on latest firmware. What should I do? I don't even know if it's a Rogers problem or I've just had the worst luck in the world with 3 defective phones in a row, because none of the customer service people are able to tell me exactly what in the world is going on.
My friend gifted me iPhone 5, he bought it in canada, but I let it drop into the water. On febraury I bought an Iphone 4S but now the wifi doesn't work, this is a common problem in the Iphone, but now I am in Argentina and in my country there isn't any place where repair my telephone. I called to Apple to tech support and they told me they could not assist me because they only assist people from Mexico and canada, and that I had to speak to an authorized service center in Argentina, so I went to the place they told me, in that place I say they can not sorting the problem, that the only solution is to travel to USA to change.Because they tell me that if in legal terms of the warranty states that if Apple so you can make changes determined through some mail? Why not give me that option? I have the right to use my iPhone in its 100%, the truth that without wifi and bluetooth is how to use it by 50%.Any recommendations?

Now i switched to postpaid connection but now 3G internet is not working even it has been activated from the provider. It is showing a message 'Could not activate cellular data, PDP authentication failure'.

Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help : My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... ' I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue. My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ? Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i? My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Please can someone help... model a1332
My iPhone, purchased in Hong Kong, suffered water damage in canada and the personnel at the Apple store was unable to provide me with a replacement phone. Their reason is that HK model is different from the North American versions that they carry, hence replacement would need to take place in Hong Kong Apple stores. I am wondering if it came across anyone's situation where they were able to get a replacement iPhone 5 in canada, even though it is not the North American version. Alternative solutions are also welcomed. Thanks!
I'm using my iPhone 5 and can't update any apps or buy music from ITunes because I get an error code telling me that the items I'm requesting are not available in the South African store. I live in canada. ????? My computer itunes store is correct. i've connected /updated my phone thru my computer and tried to reset my store but my computer account is fine. The problem is exclusive to my phone. Does anyone have suggestions to fix this?

So I had to totally re create a new apple account and Id because I bought something off one of my apps with a prepaid credit card and when I would o to update it would ask for my billing information an I just got past not having to put a credit card but it is using my old apple id to update stuff I don't understand
As the title suggests, I am in a country where no 4g is available yet, so im using it on a 3g network (Im in Taiwan by the way). I am going on a business trip and hope to use the 4g lte network there (through prepaid sim card). I have searched for the models that support 4g lte (like A1428-29). Mine is MD300TA. I have searched this model num and I couldnt find it except in Taiwan web. Anybody how has the similar model number and have used it in 4g networks? THe phone is unlocked. So I had AT&T and bought the iPhone 5 from them, on contract, back on December 15 2012. I wanted to save money and have Unlimited Data so I paid an Early Termination Fee to cancel my contract, got my unlock from them, and moved to T-Mobile prepaid $60 plan/mo. So I get Edge coverage, or 3G wherever their reframed 1900 network is. BUT now T-Mobile has their own iPhone that is LTE-enabled, and has the 1700/2100 AWS bands, for 4G/LTE in most places! Can I get my model replaced with this model?? If so, how? It has the same model number as mine but people are referring to it as the "GSM 2013 model".

Ever since i updated my phone my iMessage has been super buggy. I am not recieving imessages in group conversations or individual ones.. & on the senders side it is showing that it is "delivered" to my phone... I have the iphone 4 on telus.. but I am not the only one with this problem I have multiple friends who have the iPhone 4s & 5 on telus and rogers who are having this issue as well. On top of the imessage issues my battery usage is decreasing faster than usual and my apps keep closing... Everything on my phone is updated. Anyone else with these issues?
There are four possible causes of the activation error: The activation server is unavailable. Rare, but it happens. Usually fixed within minutes. Your antivirus or firewall (or your router's firewall) is blocking access to the domain gs.apple.com on ports 80 and 443. Your phone is jailbroken. Your phone isn't jailbroken, but the computer you are connected to during the restore or update was used to hack or jailbreak some other iOS device, and its network database was corrupted in the process. Perhaps this will provide you some clues as to how to proceed. I updated my phone to iOS 6.1.3 today. This evening (two hours ago) I downloaded a free app called "Caption Pics" by Viral Media Entertainment. About 15 minutes ago, something weird happened. I had 6 apps that the App Store wanted to update. I went to update them. The App Store asked for my Apple ID. Seemed odd to have to submit for an update, but I did. Got a message saying it was an incorrect password. So I entered it again. Same error. I enter it a 3rd time before I realize that it's asking me to enter an Apple ID for an ID that isn't even mine! It was completely different, even the domain name. I immediately deleted the two apps I downloaded today and restarted my iPhone. I also immediately reset Apple ID password from my computer. I saved my photos without syncing. I'm doing a factory reset/restore right now. I'm a bit weirded out... I realize it could be a fluke. Servers sometimes get bits of information mixed up. Someone else could be cursing right now because they think someone tried to hack them and got them locked out of the App Store. But still. This is weird. Any insight? Anything else I can do to protect myself?

So here is what happened.. I live in canada and my app store is obviously registered to the canada App Store and today I was in my app store and I tried to download an app but a pop up came up saying you have to be in the US App Store to download. And the only option for me to press was "okay". My phone then kinda delayed an froze.. So I turned it off and back on. Went back in my App store and I saw an App that I wanted and when I tried to install it says " Your account is not valid for use in the U.S. Store. You must switch to the Canadian store before purchasing." I have no idea how to do that! I looked around and saw no where to click "okay" again to switch.. Please help me! Thank you!
I just got a text message (not iMessage..) from a number 561-900-66--, with the message "Omg Cathy (my first name).." followed by a mysterious bit.ly/xxxx URL. I clicked on the link (thinking it's somoene I know since the person got my first name), it automatically re-directed a few times on my iPhone's Safari browser.. ie. sort of like how spam/viruses go when you click on them on a real computer. I shut down the Safari app quickly but not sure how much of the page already loaded. Does anyone know anything about this spam/virus? And, is it possible to hack my iPhone? How do I further protect myself? Please help!! For your reference: I have an iPhone 5. It has not been jail broken nor have I tried to do anything shady to it. I'm fairly sure I have most of the latest OS updates.

Hello everyone.. I'm very confused here; I own an iPhone 5 which I have on O2. I bought it outright from the Apple Store in Belfast and just transferred my Business Sim to a Nano Sim and use that in the phone. I am going to the USA soon (Miami) to be a leader at a Summer Camp for 9 weeks and need to use my iPhone while I'm over there. I have been researching AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verzion all for prices, but I'm still very confused.. I want to call back to the UK for a low price, as well as use the web for WhatsApp and FB messenger etc. Will not be texting back to the UK. I need to know the answer to these questions: 1. When I put my O2 sim into my iPhone (which was bought sim free) does it lock to O2?2. What carriers will support the UK iPhone 5 for LTE? Would like to try this feature out as Northern Ireland hasn't been hit with this yet (probaby never will until 2040 ffs) I understand Verzion will not work as it is CDMA.3. What carrier would be most suited for using in Miami? 4. What would the best price plan be (e.g. is there such thing as a Sim-Only monthly rolling contract or prepaid plans with only sim cards?) Hi I am looking at signing onto a contract or tab for an iPhone 5, in canada, using one of the local providers (Rogers, telus, Bell, Virgin etc). I was told in one store that obtaining an iPhone 5 on this basis will mean it is locked to the network and that all the networks here are unable to unlock them. I could do it through a third party but that would void my manufacturer's warranty (ie AppleCare). The Apple store here in Calgary told me different - they said that phones are easily unlocked for a fee by carriers, and didn't mention any loss of warranty. I have previously unlocked a phone through iTunes in Australia, and have had the same phone serviced by Apple with no problems at all. Could someone please clarify what is really the case here in canada? Thanks

My iPhone 5 keeps going into "recovery mode" unexpectedly. I've restored and updated it at least 3 times. It is now in recovery mode but cannot be restored because "error has occurred (9)" I'm in the US for a few months but live in canada so I can't talk to an apple store. Any ideas how to fix this?
Hey, so I have an iPhone 4 that and I cancelled a contract I had with Fido, by paying the deactivation fee in full. I'm getting by just fine with wifi, but today I'm going on a 2 day trip where I won't have access to wifi. I'm a little short on money and don't want to go pay the money for a sim card and find out that I've wasted the little cash I do have. I looked around online, and most of the IMIE checkers I found were either paid or currently down. If there's a way I can tell for sure that my iPhone is unlocked? And even if it wasn't would it be possible for me to get a sim card from the same company? I wish to do prepaid service if that helps, I only really need my phone for the next two days. Also I'm leaving in like 16 hours so a fast response would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to connect a iPhone 3 with an iPhone 4 using bluetooth so I can use the IP3 as a personal hotspot using a New Zealand prepaid Skinny sim (the IP4 has an Australian sim). I have paired the IP3 with my MacBook Pro and a Samsung Galaxy using bluetooth and it works well as a hotspot. However the two iPhones can't discover each other ... is there a workaraound, eg an app that can enhance the very basic functionality provided by Apple? The phones are running iOS 6.0 and iOS6.1 respectively.
I recently purchased an iPhone 5 from Bell canada. I see both the 2 hole and 3 hole configuration pictured in manuals but can't find an explanation for this 3rd hole. The screen protectors I purchased cover it up. Does that matter? Thanks to anyone who can help.
I am in Ottawa, Ontario, canada and I got an iPhone 4 GSM from my friend, which I plan to use if my iPhone 4S dies and I need a loaner. The iPhone 4 GSM is not jailbroken and it's locked to telus Mobility in canada. The iPhone is running iOS 6.1.However, the home button on the iPhone 4 sticks almost every time I use it (closing running applications is a real pain since most of the time the iPhone doesn't detect that I've pressed the home button twice), and the phone occasionally resets itself for no reason. I didn't get a receipt for the iPhone 4 when my friend gave it to me and I don't have any sort of warranty for it.Can I still get it fixed by Apple? Should I get it fixed by Apple or get a third party to look into it?
Hi, today I did an update through iTunes to latest firmware and suddenly my Sim is not working..I reset my phone all contents and after initial setup where I have to choose WIFI, it says Sim not Valid. This is very stressful. I have bought a facotry unlocked phone from canada,I have reset the phone many times before and it worked fine so it's not jailbroken or anything. I am currently living in Botswana and it was working perfectly fine until yesterdayand suddenly from today after the ios 6 update it says sim not valid... what could be the problem?i cant even get through the initial very first welcome page because it says sim not valid. please help methank you.
I got my Iphone 5 from telus last month. I went non telus store for factory unlcoked (IMEI) last week. My phone can work to other network and update new version now. After I unlocked my phone, does my phone still have warranty?If my phone has problem this year, will Apple take care it ?If Apple can replace new phone to me, is phone locked to telus or unlocked phone?

Hi allI just got an Iphone 5 from the app store and model number is MD293C/A its 16 gib... so question is I bought it as unlocked because I m not living in canada will go back to europe within a few days... is MD293C/A model unlocked or locked one? Hi, recently I got iPhone 5 sim free as a gift from canada (bought in Apple Store), everything works fine except proximity sensor, screen doesn't turn off during calls and I contantly press something with my cheeks, I googled this problem and tried all solutions but nothing seems to help. Woke up to find out my iphone had sent out about 30 emails to contacts (not my full contact list - guessing maybe the last 30 contacts that have been either received/sent via email).
