Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help :   My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... '  I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue.  My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ?  Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i?   My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Can my iphone 5 be hacked through free app downloaded from App store

I updated my phone to iOS 6.1.3 today. This evening (two hours ago) I downloaded a free app called "Caption Pics" by Viral Media Entertainment. About 15 minutes ago, something weird happened. I had 6 apps that the App Store wanted to update. I went to update them. The App Store asked for my Apple ID. Seemed odd to have to submit for an update, but I did. Got a message saying it was an incorrect password. So I entered it again. Same error. I enter it a 3rd time before I realize that it's asking me to enter an Apple ID for an ID that isn't even mine! It was completely different, even the domain name. I immediately deleted the two apps I downloaded today and restarted my iphone. I also immediately reset Apple ID password from my computer. I saved my photos without syncing.  I'm doing a factory reset/restore right now. I'm a bit weirded out...  I realize it could be a fluke. Servers sometimes get bits of information mixed up. Someone else could be cursing right now because they think someone tried to hack them and got them locked out of the App Store. But still. This is weird. Any insight? Anything else I can do to protect myself?

I just got a text message (not iMessage..) from a number 561-900-66--, with the message "Omg Cathy (my first name).." followed by a mysterious bit.ly/xxxx URL. I clicked on the link (thinking it's somoene I know since the person got my first name), it automatically re-directed a few times on my iphone's Safari browser.. ie. sort of like how spam/viruses go when you click on them on a real computer. I shut down the Safari app quickly but not sure how much of the page already loaded. Does anyone know anything about this spam/virus? And, is it possible to hack my iphone? How do I further protect myself? Please help!! For your reference: I have an iphone 5. It has not been jail broken nor have I tried to do anything shady to it. I'm fairly sure I have most of the latest OS updates.

What do you mean you can't check it? If it is missing, that indicates a critical failure, usually due to damage done by jailbreaking or attempting to hack the phone to unlock it. The phone will need to be replaced. It can't be fixed.

Tonight, I received 5 text messages (all at the same time) from numbers with different area codes.  They all knew my name and each one of them said my number was posted on sites such as mibbit and isexychat.. i didnt even know those sites existed.  It happened to my friend last week too, but the person said he got her number from parachat.  We have never posted our numbers online.  It is possible to have a conversation with them, as they do reply back and answer some of our questions.  Is this a hack? Or a virus?  I googled it but couldn't find similar cases.

Can apple unlock iphone s independently from network operators

I have been having serious issues with regards to unlocking my iphone 4 with use on other networks. I originally contacted O2 Network approx 3weeks ago to both cancel my contract and unlock my phone as I was in the process of emigrating to Australia. At the time I was told this would be a quick and painless process.  Since this time I have received an email on the 20th August stating that my IMEI number was not attached to my mobile number. I contacted customer services again to confirm my IMEI number and that at no stage has my phone been replaced under warranty/repair. This was then 'actioned'  to the next stage of this process and I was told this would take approx ten days.  It is now the 4th September and I am currently in Australia. Upon attempting to use. New sim card in my iphone this did not work. I contacted customer services who told me to use iTunes, which did not solve the problem.  Again today I contacted customer services again regarding this issue. I went through the whole process up to this point. The advice I was then given was that the advisor would submit the form again, for what is now the 3rd time, and if this doesn't work that I may need to find someone in Australia that can hack iPhones!? Furthermore, when I enquired as to whether or not the fact my contract terminates on the 4th September, would affect my unlatching process, I was told this may prevent this from completing! I am actually amazed that an advisor in a reputable UK company, after several years of being a loyal customer to, has now advised me to hack my iphone. Can Apple themselves unlock my phone in their stores/Genius bar?

Unable to sign in to YouTube app after creating new Gmail account iphone 3G

I had to create a new Gmail account as apparently my old one had several hack attempts so I closed it down and opened a new one. Attempting to sign in to the YouTube app, it says the information is not valid even though I KNOW it is because I signed out and back into Google with the same details and got in fine. I have seen other threads on here for the same issue but the solutions do not work - one suggests clicking on 'Mobile Set Up' on the YouTube homepage but that option no longer exists.  I have set up two-step verification with my Google account and tried to log in using my app-specific password and still can't get in.  I've managed to sign into the Safari mobile site fine with the same information, I just cannot sign into the app. On the Google and YouTube site, it just states to sign in using your YouTube username or Gmail address - I've been using my Gmail address as there is no longer an option to have a YouTube username with these new Google accounts - but it says that should work fine, and if not the follow the two-step verification process, which I've already done with no success. I am absolutely sick of ridiculous issues like this with my stupid iphone - which I hate, I will add.  I have been driven to distraction so much by this issue that I have hurled my pathetic phone at the wall three times so far which has resulted in two blue screen reboots. Unfortunately, the horrible thing keeps turning back on. Can someone please provide a SOLUTION THAT WORKS to this ridiculous problem, before I stalk into my nearest Apple store and demand they fix it for me or they will need to forcibly remove me from the store.  How the **** can a simple sign-in process be such a bloody problem?  I suspect it's the evil disgusting folk behind Google (which I also hate and am forced to have purely because of YouTube) but they have so far been unable to provide a solution to this problem.

I go to the apple store birmingham and two ***** one of which was a manager told me someone has been in your phone. i say no they have not and the argument continues. eventually i am told "look yeah someones been in that phone so we cant help you " basically **** off you mug weve got your money and we dont want to help you unless you want to spend some more.so im now stuck with a three month old phone with a ****** screen that apple refuse to replace. Left my phone in a cab. ten min later it was turned off... I had a lock screen turned on but not the setting where it would wipe all data. I used the find my iphone app to see that its location was unavailable. Selected email me when it comes back on. few hours later i get an email and its new location but a few min later it was unavailable again. I am assuming to restore it to default settings or something.   Is there a way for whomever turned it off to acquire my information on the phone? But instead it backed up from today and restored from the back up today not the back up two weeks ago so now i have lost all my pictures and my phone has gone back to a new user phone. So all the settings have been restored the whole lot. Need help with siri over university wifi network iphone 4S

So I got an iphone 4s yesterday, and was excited to use siri, but hadn't been able to at all. (get the 'I'm really sorry, can't take any requests now" etc message)After a day of googling possible solutions and troubleshooting and resetting all settings etc I've finally got it work once or twice, but only over 3G/Edge and not over wifi (which I've not had much opportunity to do since I get really poor reception for it in my room at university, but it's not normally an issue cos I have wifi). So I've basically worked out that Siri won't work over the university's wifi. My only guess as to why is that you have to use a the university's proxy server. This is fine, normally, and I can surf the web or whatever fine on my phone, just not use siri. My guess is that it stops Apple's servers recognising my device as a 4s?I've tried googling this issue, but obviously anything to do with 'siri' and 'proxy' in google just throws up results on how people have worked out how to 'hack' siri. Would appreciate any help in getting Siri to work over wifi, otherwise it basically looks like I won't be able to use my 4s for the main function I bought it for.

Hi, I have an unlocked iphone 4S, I am connected to a network that is unable to effect a change to the Voicemail Number, i.e. the number the Voicemail button calls. How do you change this number, many have asked here and elsewhere on the internet but as yet no solution from Apple. How long is it going to take Apple to give out this information? I appreciate that Apple do not want iPhones hacked, and I do not want to hack my iphone anyway, but I do own it and I would like to set it to work correctly and not call some other network's voicemail facility but instead call my network's voicemail facility. Phantom calling and unauthorized changes iphone 3G

A strange thing happened early this morning. My phone was in standby mode (with the screen off) and plugged into the wall charger. I woke up hearing talking, and realized I was hearing someones voice mail. My phone called someone, and as it was early, the call went to their voicemail. I reached over to disconnect the call, and then checked the call history to figure out if it was incoming or outgoing. Stranger still, my entire call history had been deleted. However, I figured out that the call was outgoing!Also, my contact list has been changed - all of my favorites no longer have names on them, and after fixing them, I see that some of the information is either incorrect, changed, or modified.The phone was not hooked up to sync (it was updated earlier this week), and it seems strange to have this happen on its own!I am syncing now, to see if it repairs itself, but it says the software is up to date. 3G sw update question iphone 3G

Hi:I just installed the newest version of iTunes on my PC (iTunes wasnt installed previously, I just upgraded to Windows 7). I then plugged my wifes 3G in and performed the OS upgrade to the latest version. Unfortunately, I didnt manually select sync or backup and Im really hoping iTunes would have done that automatically? I, like a lot of people, have lost all her data - contacts, pictures, etc. I tried many things posted on many forums but nothing seems to work. When I open iTunes, it only gives me the option to back up a restore to a backup file created only moments ago.....not hours ago when I upgraded the OS. I did however, find a file under Users/NAME/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/Mobile Backups with the date/time stamp of when I would have upgraded the OS. Thinking this was the file I was looking for, I tried copying and pasting the folder into Users/NAME/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup and selecting it in iTunes. It appears in the drop down menu as unknown but doesnt work when I try to backup and restore from it. Error = iTunes could not restore the iphone Unknown because the iphone refused the request Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Id be someones hero if I can get the pics back that were lost. It looks like the data might be there...I just cant figure out how to get it back on the phone.Thanks in advance. 3G Windows 7

iphone 3G STUCK ON RESTORE AND UPDATE AFTER 4.2 UPDATE FAILED HALFWAY THRU

I plugged my iphone 3g in to iTunes and a new update was available for it (update version 4.2). So I downloaded it and started the update, and it got to the very last step and it quit and a pop out came saying The iphone iphone could not be restored or updated. An error occurred (37). And now it the iphone wont even turn on unless its plugged in and even when its plugged in it only shows the screen that says to plug into to iTunes, which just keeps repeating iphone is in recovery mode, needs to be retored to be used. And I have already done EVERY SINGLE TROUBLE SHOOTING STEPS REPEATEDLY. Nothing seems to work, if there is anyone that can help I would appreciate more than anything, this is my sisters iphone, I was just borrowing it, now I broke it haha, I could really use someones help. I also have an iPod Touch 2g from a year or two back that had the same problem but it was completely black no matter what, holding the home and power button or anything wouldnt work. How I stop birthday etc dates slipping when I sync iMac with iphone

When I sync my iMac OS X with my iphone 3G (currently OS 4.1) via MobileMe, the details in my iMac Address Book of birthdays and anniversaries slip forward by one day, usually one day at a time, which becomes cumulative.Then these dates also change on my iMac. So the birthdays and anniversaries of friends and family show as being one day later than they are, or, over time, two days or more later.Today, after being embarrassed by getting someones birthday wrong because of this, I played around once more, and discovered that if I attempt to edit these incorrect dates within iphone Contacts manually, the iphone software will not accept the edit. Furthermore, the date barrel that is available to edit tthis information in iphone Contacts will not register the change. I wonder if this barrel is part of the whole issue, because at first it registered one day after the day I was trying to correct the date to. But later it refused to edit any change at all.Even if I correct the date on my iMac, the correction will not be picked up by the iphone.My Apple Helpdesk were still stumped for a solution to this, after I first asked them well over a year ago, so they suggested I try this discussion board.Has anyone yet found a solution to this problem, which surely cant be mine alone? iMac Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Dear Fellow Early Adopters Who Apple Has Punished,After experiencing extreme sluggishness with 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 (like most, if not all of you), I dug around and found a hack that allows one to reallocate system memory on the 3G so it runs iOS 4 fairly quickly. Trouble is, I rejected the idea because I had to jailbreak the phone.Now, with Apple not offering improvements and being unwilling to go back to iOS 3 due to loss of data on iOS 4 apps Ive been using for six week, Im seriously thinking about jailbreaking to try this memory allocation, since Id happily give up some memory on a 16GB phone in order to have it work as well as it did with iOS 3. Trouble is, I cant find the post with this information!!!**ANYBODY KNOW WHERE TO FIND THIS hack?*** It was brilliant, if a little complicated.iOS 4.0.1 seems to offer the best jailbreak due to the PDF vulnerability, thus, Im not going to go to iOS 4.0.2 unless there is confirmation of significant improvement.Yes, Ive tried all the factory resets, turning off Spotlight, MMS, etc. Works a bit better, but not well enough, since system memory bogs down after just a little use. Two apps that Ive found work pretty well (even temporarily) to reset data are System Activity Monitor ($2.99) and Memory Sweep (Free). The first I use more due to more useful data and automatic clearing of cache memory, but the second also works. Sometimes they crash, but the phone is actually pretty fast after the first load of an application.As an Apple user for 26 years, I must say, the fact that Apple did not A) test 3G before recommending iOS4 for install, B) acknowledge the problem officially, or C) issue a fix suggests this is no longer a company worth offering the level of devotion it has previously inspired. From my perspective, if a fix is not possible, all 3G owners should be given a 4G phone without any charge or changes to their existing service contract. No ringtone sound when being called iphone

Since Ive upgraded my iphone 3GS to iOS4, my phone wont give me a sound when someones calling. Ive uploaded in iOS3.1.3 two custom made ringtones (converted from mp3 to iphone compatible) and those two ringtones are running fine when playing them in settings. Even the original ringtones are playing fine in settings, but when someones calling me, I only see the picture of the person whos calling and got the 2 buttons red and green, but nothing more. No sound.Even when I allow vibration included with the ringtones even the vibration doesnt work. When the phone is set to silence mode the vibration is working but of course no sound.Is there anyone who can tell my why my phone isnt playing a ringtone anymore? iMac Mac OS X (10.6.4)

My keypad never comes back on once I am finished with a call so I cannot end a call. All,As you all know, on the main screen the Phone App icon displays the number of missed calls in a little red circle. This is the total of missed calls whether or not they left a message. To find out the number of voicemails, you need to enter the Phone App. I would like to see the number of voicemails at a glance on the main screen for at-a-glance convenience.It seems so ergonomically critical -- to know if youve got a message waiting instantly! I cant imagine this isnt in high demand.I know if the BlackBerry {BOO!} can do it, so must the iphone. But a call to Apple tech support says officially this cant be done. Im expecting a little bit of hostility from those hardcore Apple users. But I shall continue.Im trying to get the Dvorak keyboard onto my iphone. I dont want to hack my phone because then it will void the warranty and so therefore I have no interest of doing so. If anything, Im looking to suggest that Apple should add keyboard layouts for its various users. I want to use the Dvorak keyboard on my iphone so that I will be constantly honing my skills and it will be easier for when I sit down on a computer. Im sure other iphone users want the Dvorak keyboard.Now for all of those looking to discuss this in a civilized manner, please feel free to do so. For those that wish to argue that it would cost Apple millions or it would be too hard you would only solidify your lack of knowledge. Im a programmer focused on video game development and adding another keyboard layout would be incredibly easy. Can I put someone elses s card in my iphone 3G

My iphone has been having troubles recently and I want to know if it is possibly the sim card thats the problem. Can I put someones sim card in my iphone to test for a day or so. I assume the number would switch and I wouldnt have my contacts. I just want to know if the no service and constant restores are because of the phone or the sim card.Message was edited by: Tuxedo38

Hey all,The other day my wife sent me a reply text that had one readable word followed by a bunch of characters like @ntH@CØAHOPG.Y2e@@@@@@@. This is only part of the characters.On her iphone it just looks like regular text. Messages sent after that look normal as well. iphone Hacking Questions from concerned 3G user

Sometimes at busy locations (Malls, etc) I get a phone call from an unknown caller. Have had the phone for 2 years now and seldom have received any calls out of the ordinary. One time, while at the mall, I got a text that said So what do you think about this 1 pretty lady. I was very disturbed by that text.Dont know what my OS was before but I am on iphone 3G and just upgraded to 3.1.2 per the Itunes Update Feature. My settings are: WiFi off, BlueTooth off, SMS/Texting off, I think (I do not text and told ATT to turn off texting due to the hack Alert I read about recently regarding SMS), Location Services ON, passcode ON, DATA/Internet access ON (I browse frequently only sites I am familiar with like yahoo mail). I use the GPS app frequently as well.With what I think is SMS off my friends text me but I never receive it although I do receive texts with minutes remaining from AT & T, which is weird.Also, got a phone call from unknown caller once when someone was driving by my house, could that be a coincidence? Unable to Send MMS iphone

In the last two days when i have tried to send a mms, my iphone (3gs), the red exclamation point will appear next to it meaning its failed. When i try resending it i have no luck. I have also restarted my phone. I have tried sending messages to different people to see if it was just someones phone, but no luck. Message counter for SMS iphone

Hey,I was just wondering. I saw on a someones iphone something nice. He had a counter above his send button for the amount of characters and smss the message was taking up. Like: 144/160(1) <num_chars>/<max.sms>(<amount msgs>) I was in a hurry and wasnt able to ask him where he enabled this, but Ive been searching and searching... cant find it. someones using my email through my lost iphone

i lost my iphone 4months ago gave up all hope for its return.upon checking my sent email on my account via my laptop, i was surprised to discover 3 images two of a girl taking a photo of herself with MY iphone off her bedroom mirror and one of her dog all three images have the 'sent from my iphone' mess. at the bottom. the sender of the email is addressed to me i assume cause i'm still logged in on the iphone she must not know how to use it.. also the intended recipient email is posted in my email. Any suggestions as to confronting her via email or maybe help with tracking the phone with gmail some how? I have no tracking apps uploaded onto the iphone misplaced ... please help!!!!

Cant answer phone or unlock to read text messages since upgrading to 3.1.2 iphone

Ever since I upgraded my iphone 3G to OS 3.1.2 I find I cannot slide to answer calls or slide to view text messages.When my phone is asleep (screen off) and either someone calls me or I receive a text, I get the usual wallpaper screen with either the blue box showing me whos sent a text or the indication of whos calling. However when I try to slide the bar at the bottom to either view the text message or answer the phone, it is totally unresponsive.The only way to make it respond is to put the display to sleep (press the lock button on the top of the phone) and wake it up again (press the home button), then the slider will work. This obviously is totally unacceptable when someones phoning, as it hangs up on them, and I then have to call them back, which on PAYG isnt ideal.How can I fix this? I dont believe I have an older version of the iphone OS on my computer as I got a new MBP after I last upgraded the OS (I think I have a backup of the phone done just before I upgraded). 15" Unibody MacBook Pro, iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.2

Visual Voicemail Not Working New Problem iphone

I found another thread with the same title but it was a different situation, involving some kind of tethering hack.This time I updated to 3.1.2 this morning and it seemed everything worked fine, but then I missed a call and the no Voicemail followed so I did not think it was important and didnt call back. About 2 hours later I get a call from the same person and I answer and they tell me they left a voicemail why didnt I call them back. So I did a little test and left a voicemail for myself from another phone and I never got it pushed to the phone.I cant hear any of my voicemails unless I hold down 1 and call my voicemail.I was on the phone with a at&t rep for about 30mins and then a technical support rep for about 30 more mins but they could not find the problem.Does anyone have the same problem anyone have a solution?I already tried checking the General->Network but I have no tab for Cellular Data NetworkAnd I tried deleting a Profile in the General menu but I have no profile to delete.Any help would be appreciated, please MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.1)

3.1 slowness possible resolution iphone 3G

My co-worker and I have been testing various solutions to the slowness of 3.1, IMAP vs Exchange Sync and other areas of network usage. Last night he discovered a real speedup improvement by removing a tethering profile that we both had from trying a tethering hack on our phones (3g and 3gs) about 4-6 months ago. By removing this old tethering profile, it seems that all network access has significantly sped up. Neither of us have had the other reported issues with reboots, freezes and dropped calls (other than the norm). Anyway, go to Settings, General and see if you have a Profile option.
