Battery barely charges-iphone 3G roughly 1.5yrs old

Ive had this phone for over a year and its battery life hasnt really been that bad up until a few months ago, when I started noticing that I had to charge it every day for it to last throughout the next day.Over the past week or two, Ive noticed a further decrease of life throughout the day. I originally attributed it to elongated usage, but that isnt the case as of the last month or so. With this decreased life, the phone also takes a very very long time to charge. When it is plugged into the USB port in my trucks stereo, it doesnt charge and actually goes down in percentage if being used (if Im using it as an iPod, even with the screen off). Yes, the battery icon does change to a charging lightning bolt icon whenever it is plugged in.The phone will charge very slowly when plugged into a USB 2.0 outlet, and a very small amount faster when plugged into the wall.What should I do? I have apple care on it for another 6 months or so I think...but does that cover battery replacement? Do they even have 3G phones anymore? Would I have to buy another phone? iphone 3G iOS 4

How to fix iOS4 induced slowness on 3G iphone 3G

Well, having tried Apple retail store, Apple online help, telephone support and getting stonewalled or denial or just no solution I realised the actual solution lays in the longer game. Even after leaving my email address and phone number on Apple Feedback sites I never had someone contact me to address my 3G issues personally. So the strategy I have now is as follows: I meet on average probably ten business people per day through my work, different people mostly. Inevitably there is an opportunity to talk about mobile phones etc, even if just over coffee break. I make it my point now to recount my 3G-iOS4-slowdown horror-story-and-no-admission-by-Apple story to as many as possible , but more than that - I ensure they get the clear picture that buying an Apple iphone can be a BIG risk regarding the handset and after-sales customer service too, and that choosing another handset/OS (e.g Android) should be seriously considered for health and happiness (and business effectiveness if you rely on these devices). I figure a percentage will carry that message on to other conversations with other business people. Its a kind of viral marketing - designed to build a volume over time exponentially - a lobbying force or just a gradual force of consumer changed habit that will demonstrate to Apple that ignoring your previously loyal customers and going in denial about it only results in customers turning on you in force - which over time will be reflected in lower sales and of course more widespread bad reputation. Thats capitalism for you, but with the shoe on the other foot. I was Apples biggest fan but now I am compelled to continue this strategy until I get some truthful admission by them and solutions (without the obvious one which cynically I suspected from the start was their strategy - forcing 3G owners to move to the iphone 4). Either that or if no help comes our way then to continue to market the counter-message and warning about Apple products and service. I am no mathematician if I meet two people person per day who each go on to tell two more people per day - how many is that in one 30 day month who carry the message? The clock is ticking. You can do this too - it the long run it places pressure on the company to change or at least respond. That may be better than hacking your 3G to try to get back to OS 3.1.3 etc as there will be no need for Apple to change their ways if you keep it to yourself like that. Think about it again. iphone 4 falls into DFU mode all time

Hi!got my iPhone4 a little longer than a month. Since approx. two weeks it falls into DFU mode everytime i lock it and wait about 10-15 minutes to unlock it again. i cant tell the exact amount of time it takes to fall asleep - it may take longer when email arrives in the meantime...the problem doesnt appear then the phone is wired to a computer or jack. It is also hard to get out of this mode. sometimes it takes me 3 or 4 times pressing both buttons for 10 seconds to reactivate it.i tried to reinstall it (also without restoring from backup) several times - using two different macs. no change. Whatever - the phone did not drop or anything. except the described issue it is in top condition. is there anything else i could try? is this a known issue? or is my only chance to send it back to apple?thx in advanceT. iPhone4 iOS 4

3g problem powering on iphone 3G

i went to use my phone and noticed it was powered off. i plugged it in to charge it after a failed attempt to power on. the apple symbol appeared as tho it were powering on then turned itself off, only to go back to the apple screen seconds later. this process repeats never getting past the apple screen. ive tried resetting it,checking for water damage, and several chargers and no change. Text Message Alert NOT Working-iphone 4

When I get a new text message, the alert is not going off. I have checked that the sound for text message is on but still nothing. I noticed tonight that if I change the text message sound its not giving a preview of it. I thought it use to do that as well. Syncing iphone changes my clock and timezone

Every time I sync my iphone with my computer, it will change my clock and the timezone. I re-checked every setting on the iphone and iTunes and everything seems fine. iphone 4 crashed and will not restart

So tonight my iphone crashed without reason, I wasnt running any apps. I had just finished showing off how co the face time chatting is when it crashed. Now Im trying to reboot it by holding the sleep and home button for like 10 sec and getting no change in screen. I knew this before I bought iphone but

The sealed battery is a disgrace. There is NO benefit to the consumer whatsoever, it is purely a built-in obsolescence. Apple want everyone to keep their iphone a maximum of 24 months before upgrading to the latest version. If I want to pass my old iphone 4 down to my family, I will probably need to replace the battery beforehand. To have to ship the thing off for this is ridiculous. I baby my phones, treat them like gold and have front & rear screen protectors and a leather case. When it comes to battery replacement time, my handset will still hopefully be in mint condition. I then have to ship it to some service centre for a bloke with a pile of iphones in front of him to do a battery change. Is this fellow going to treat my iphone like gold? No, to him its just the hundredth battery change that day. My phone will no doubt be shipped back to me, at great expense, scratched-up. Apple could still rape us for batteries, they could charge what they like....just make the **** things replaceable by the consumer!! PC Windows Vista

iPod icon on iphone 4 multitasking bar gone after upg to iTunes 10

This is a strange issue. I recently upgraded to iTunes 10 and have subsequently synced my iphone 4. I noticed just today (Saturday, 9/4) that the iPod app that existed on the Multitasking bar (swipe all the way left where the iPod controls and the orientation lock are) is no longer the iPod app but the iTunes app. Ive tried to remove that or replace it or whatever but that doesnt seem possible. I last used the iPod app from that location just last Wednesday (9/1).Did Apple change that or have I inadvertently done something? And how can I change it back??? Hotmail not sync normal iphone 4

I have two email accounts on my iphone 4. One is Hotmail and the other one is a company Exchange Account email. When I delete an email on the Exchange Account on my PC Outlook (or webmail), it will be deleted on the iphone. Same for any change made to the accounts Calendar and Contacts. But when I delete an email from Hotmail on my computer, it remains on my iphone. Is this normal? iMac

3GS WIFI problem only at home iphone 3G

Hello everyone!Ive got the strangest problem with my iphone 3Gs when it comes to WIFI. I have a linksys WIFI router at home. Everything worked fine: Wireless internet on my PC (sorry, but thats about to change), my macbook pro and iphone 3Gs.One day, I couldnt get WIFI anymore on my iphone. It started before OS4 (Im now on OS4 and the problem remains).Thing is that my internet works fine on both PC and macbook! When I select the wifi network on my iphone and enter the password it always says: no connection possible with network.I re-installed everything and did the usual stuff as resetting wifi settings on my phone, even resettign my router.Now, the strangest part of all is that the wifi on my iphone works anywhere else!!! Slowly having change of heart iphone 4

Ok, Ive been an iphone fanatic since the I got my first 3g and never looked back. However now, with all the non-stop issues from apple, Im slowly beginning to feel like I should give android a try just to see if its any better. With every new phone apple releases its great hype about what it can do and blah blah blah, but lately the actual experience is very short of those hypes. 1. Battery life-Apple claims I can surf the web on wifi for up to TEN hours, but in reality, if I take my phone off the charger in the morning at 100%. If I leave wifi ON without doing any browsing whatsoever, Im bound to get a lousy 5 to maybe 6 hours of LIGHT usage. Because my battery just keeps on going down just for having wifi on. 2. HD Video-This is a big one as it was a selling factor to me. However HD videos are only useful if the color is accurate. Im sick and tired of YELLOW tinted videos indoors and over exposed (too much brightness) videos outdoors. Same goes for pictures. In fact for pictures using flash tend to create WASHED out images way more than well lit ones. On top of that, if you are lucky enough to be shooting a video where the color is just right (accurate) if the subject moves about 2 feet from the iphone4, the entire color scheme or shooting theme now changes to blue. The problem with that is it makes people with dark skin look even darker. My old 3GS still takes better pictures and videos than this HD crap. I wont even mention the barrel distortion of the front facing camera that makes me look like a cone head. 3. Proximity-While this has NOT happened much to me, when it does, its ****. Its the most frustrating thing to keep pressing buttons with your cheek, placing people on mute without knowing, and even hanging up on them. 4. Updates_Why should an update comes out and work for some while cause problems for many including me. I no longer appreciate these updates that fix XYZ, and at the same time creates ABC of new problems. After updating to 4.0.2, several times pressing the home button would not wake the phone up, and my battery life seemed like it was on a roller coaster. So I went back to 4.0.1 although I would prefer to go back to 4.0 but apple isnt signing that build any more. At the end, maybe android may have similar issues. Maybe not, I dont know. However considering my happiness level has been slowly decreasing with apple. Only time will tell if I make the switch. Apple should realize that the APP store can only do so much to keep us happy. My hope is 4.1 will fix all of the above, however, Im starting to not even believe apple cares that much any more. cypher red pill

iphone 4 Reliability

I have had the iphone 4 since the first day of availability. This phone compared to my old 3GS and the other 3GSs in my household is totally unreliable. I waited to get a bumper thinking that would help. No change. I got a Otterbox which completely isolates the phone. No change. I took the phone to AT&T and they said go to Apple. Apple said my phone was fine but offered to reload all the SW. No change. In my home I have a AT&T Micro Cell. All my 3GS phone work fine. My iphone 4 is full of static and dropped calls. The phone is performing like a cheap knock off. I wrote Apple but no response. Apple needs to figure out what is going on and fix these phones. I am stuck with an expensive AT&T plan and a phone that is so unreliable, I find myself not even using it. When is Apple going to address these problems. This is not an antenna problem that a bumper will fix.If this has had a lot of discussion, I apologize for bring it up again, but I am frustrated. A colleague who has been an Apple advocate just told me he switched from a 3GS to a Droid. He suggested that I go to AT&T and buy a cheap phone that works. That has prompted me to realize that I should not be paying for a phone that just does not work. And when I say it does not work, if I can not count on it reliably, it is useless. Bad Experience with Apple iphone 4

Hi all,I bought an iphone 4 from three mobile from their online site. Last Thursday I received the iphone, but it is faulty. No sound at all, no dial tone , no ring tone, etc.Then I went to 3 and they told me it is faulty , need 2 weeks to get new one for me, while I still need to pay for the plan even though I cannot make a call. The other solution is go to apple store, so they can give me a new phone faster. So I go to apple store, one of the guy check my phone and say it is faulty but I need to make appointment in order to get new phone. I make sure with him that I can get a new phone on next appointment, he say yes. So appointment on Monday (3 days later). Which I thought not too bad.Some important thing happen on Monday, I cannot go to apple. So I gave them a call to change my appointment. But they told me they cannot change my appointment online, ask me to make new appointment online. And the guy over the phone seem so busy that he does not bother to help me make reservation online while i in front of my computer.So I go to their site, next thing I found out is there are so many appointment type, so not sure which to book. I just book one of them at Wednesday. Then on Wednesday I go to apple again, this time they tell me I make wrong appointment so I cannot meet the person who need to check my phone(only need 5 mins). Ok seem that partly my fault this time, I accept it. So he make another appointment for me on Friday.Friday, go to apple store again. Finally they manage to check the phone and said it is faulty. Can replace new one for me. Guess what happen? No stock. Wow, and tell me I need to wait another week. What is the different with 3? You guys still need 2 weeks and wasting all my precious time for it. So I need to keep paying my bill for 2 weeks while I cannot make a phone call? 3 times went to apple and still cannot get a new phone? iphone 3G IOS4.0.1 restore errors

Im trying to restore iphone3G to 4.0.1 from last 2 days but every time i got errors related to USB. errors like 2003,2005,2009,14 etc. believe me i tried almost every form. every time i plug my Iphone3G to PC it says This device can perform faster please plug this in hi-speed USB 2.0 port. i tried all my USB ports but nops. and yes i have Enhanced USB 2.0 port according to my XP hardware device manager.some times ITunes got my iphone and start restoring iphone with IOS4.0.1 but got error(described above) in very initial phase of of restoring.here are the solutions i already tried1) i change iphone data cable (4 cables exact )2) try to restore iphone on 3 different computers XP SP2 all.3) Already read all try Apple USB troubleshooting (try different USB ports, security software bla bla bla)4) Reinstall iTunes several times5) try many times in DFU + Recovery mode.6) i updated my Bios and motherboard driver too.here is the conclusion of problem i thought can be. every time i plug iphone it is associated with normal USB1.0 i think if it some how associated with USB2.0 then my problem solved but i tried all USB ports.cmon pros tell me some thing. and last thing i can not visit iphone store because Im in Pakistan for next 2 months where no Apple support is available. iphone 3G iOS 4

Another weird touchscreen problem during phone call iphone 4

Next to the problem that during a call, the phone starts to write an email message or switching to the speaker, now it jumps to the dial screen and (because of a little change against my cheek) it starts to dial a number or hanging up completely. No 3G signal after 4.0.2 upgrade on iphone 4 O2 UK

Has any one else had this problem?I had a very strong 3G signal before I upgraded to 4.0.2. Now I only have storng Edge signal or strong GPRS signal. I have phoned O2 and they have told me that there is no problem with their Network. On the advice of the O2 customer services I took the sim card out and reinstalled, still no change in signal.Wiped the phone and setup the phone as a brand new phone. stuck in recovery mode iphone 3G

Just bought the new iPhone4 but now have a huge issue I was not previously aware of. Why is it that even Apple has the notion that no one ever changes their email address? You must enter your email address to be able to log on and find out why the log in is not accepting your password or username. You are then told you will be notified at your registered email address WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE. Issue while converting MP3 songs in iphone ringtones

Apple is exceptionally arrogant, its products are created for people who dont have what to do but spend hours finding out how to use these products. I now have this new mobile phone with absolutely horrible alarm sounds, and there is no straight forward way to change them into some decent ones (e.g. music)!!!!!!! After wasting time in forums, still nothing works and I still dont know how to do it. Thats it, Im tired of this and will never ever buy apple stuff ever again. :(((

Slowdown issues iphone 4

hiya i have smartphone but its not from Apple.i am in dilemma here and tempted to change it for an iPhone4. but does it have or have anyone here experienced any slowdown in the overall performance of the phone albeit when the battery or the signal is low? is it the same situation with the 3GS?please help. and convince me the iPhone4 is ze one!thanks. Want to return 3G to version 3.x.x from 4.0.1 iphone 3G

Nothing but problems since updating. Too much for the 3G. Now a change has been made to the photos and the main photo screen is misaligned and a places map has been added. To Apple. Its your phone, your hardware and your software. Get it right. There is no reason Apple engineers can not TEST your upgrades BEFORE you release them. Or is Apple really the second level corporation I have always felt it was. GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Toshiba

Videos wont sync iphone 3G

Hey thereI am running a iphone 3G on iOS 4.0 and using a windows machine. I have iTunes 9.2.1I have been trying for the last hour to sync a video onto my iphone. All the boxes are checked in the iphone menu to sync films, music videos podcasts and TV programs. The movie i want to sync is checked in iTunes and plays in iTunes. it is in mp4 format and there is plently of space on my iphone. I have previously put movies and podcasts on my iphone with no problems I have googled this issue and tried all the solutions i found which are:Changing the media type to TV program or filmChecking Manually manage music and videos and dragging video across.. nothing happened when i dragged movie overHighlighting the movie and clicking change to iphone iPod version from Advanced menu. which might work if it ddnt cause iTunes to crash every single timeUnsyncing all movies by unchecking the boxes.. which resulted in all movies off my iphone which i am now unable to sync backI have uninstalled itunes and reinstalledI REALLY dont want to restore my iphone so this is last resort. i shuldnt have to restore every time i want to put a new video on my phone!!This seems to be a wide scale issue and i think apple should sort it out!!! Texts messages are hidden iphone

Since I upgraded my iphone to os4 it will tell me that I have new text messages on the home screen but when I open messages, I cant see it. I have to use the search option and if I put in the correct contact, it will show up.Once I have read the message, either the blue button indicating an unread message does not disappear or the button disappears but the number of unread messages on the home screen doesnt change.This is leading to me not discovering messages for days or not even realising that I have new messages to read!It is driving me INSANE!
