Bearing in mind lots of people having trouble with Orange 3G display and connection, will it be a good idea to sign up for the new Orange/T-Mobile roaming option set to launch on October 5th.?I have been with TM since January with an iphone 3G and now iphone 4. Having had 18months of poor connection from 02, it is a pleasure to be able to make/receive a call from my sitting room, without having to hold my phone by the window or run upstairs to get a signal.I dont want to experience a similar problem like some people who are on Orange. I have read of people having roaming problems where the call switches between networks and drops out.Sign-up or not? iMac 2.4-4gb RAM Mac OS X (10.6.4) iphone 4, MacbookPro,
My girlfriend and I both have iphone 3Gs. Last night she attempted to upgrade the software, which apparently prompted her to download the newest version of iTunes. After a couple of attempts, we finally got iTunes downloaded (presumably). The phone was plugged in and updating all night, but as of this morning will not operate because it requires iTunes 9.2 or greater. She has apparently tried to restore it to its previos OS just to get it to work to no avail. Any suggestions? Im no computer guru but my girlfriend can usually work through these issues. She is afraid that all her info is lost, including texts and voice memos of her late aunt. iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.2
I never had this with my 2G Blackberry Curve in the same areaI live in an area where 2G is stronger than 3G (I seem to get 1 more bar when I turn off 3G). However, once I do that I get a weird buzz sound (like there was a static interference). Its the same kind of sound you here from computer speakers when you place a phone near them. But I tested it away from potential interference sources. Once I turned on 3G, the voice was clean and there was no more buzz sound! I hear those sounds on low when I put to phone to my head. When use speakerphone I hear no static sounds. I had Blackberry Curve 8310 before with ATT that did calls on 2G only and had never this issue. I am using phone without case waiting for a free one in the mail, but I dont hold the bottom and it still does that. Should I take it to Apple Store and diagnose it? Did you have the same problem? iphone 4 iOS 4
I have an iphone 3G running iOS4.01 and the latest version of iTunes.I dont know how it started. I was updating to iTunes 10 and I lost power to my computer (iphone was not connected at the time). After a reboot, I uninstalled iTunes because it would no longer run (shutdown in middle of installation does that). Then I downloaded and installed iTunes 10.0.0.68. Everything seemed fine. I even bought a song or two. I wanted to sync that song to my iphone so I connected it to my computer. I have set custom sounds in windows so that it lets me know when a device connects. The connect sound plays but the iphone does not start to charge, nor does iTunes pop open, nor does windows explorer pop open with device options. Nothing happens. So I open up devices and it shows me the usual stuff but categorized under unknown is Apple Mobile Device USB or something like that with a warning explanation point ! next to it telling me that there is an error with it. So I right click and select troubleshoot. Cant fix problem. So I open up the (almost) never failing google and start searching. I find a mind-boggling amount of cases similar but usually with an iPod not an iphone and those were solvable. I finally get to one that says that I should try resetting my iphone and making connect in recovery mode. So I hold the power and home buttons down until the iphone turns off. I open iTunes, hold down the home button and connect the iphone. The Connect to iTunes screen appears... and nothing happens. Not immediately, not after 30 minutes. Nothing (except for the iphone timing out and powering off again). So then I take a huge leap of faith and decide to actually use apples support page. After sorting through stuff designed for the mentally challenged who cannot locate the home button, I find http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538 .This is exactly the problem I am having and yet following the instructions brings up problems That I havent seen before. So I follow the instructions like a good dog and locate the driver under Universal Serial Bus controllers and as per the instructions I uninstalled it. I then Scan for hardware changes. This is where the instructions start to seem non applicable. As it said it would, scanning for hardware changes found and installed drivers from the iphone. But instead of installing the Apple Mobile Device driver, I now have a device under portable devices called Apple iphone. This seemed fine but...iTunes still failed to recognize it. Windows seemed to think that the device is some sort of camera (applying a camera icon to it in the simple device manager). Windows explorer popped up this time and I can see all the photos on my iphone and copy them and all but it still wants to think this is a camera. The iphone charges now at least. The instructions continue and I try to follow. It says to search for updates to the Apple Mobile Device driver. Because this is not there and there seems to be no way of getting it there, I apply this to the Apple iphone under Portable Devices. Everything seems to run smoothly until: Click the Browse button, then navigate to the following location: C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers. it seems to tell me that if I am on a 64-bit edition of windows (as I am) I should search for it under C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers. but in that location the drivers folder in that location doesnt exist (I dont have 32-bit iTunes installed I guess.) So I go to the C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers directory instead and not only does the folder exist but the file is there too. The file usbaapl64 is there and the instructions seem to imply that I should use it if I am 64-bit windows. So I try to use it.BAM! Another problem: The folder you specified doesnt contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver (which it does), make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems.Seriously. What do I do now? Modified HP Pavillion Elite iOS 4 Windows 7 64 bit.
when i go to bed for 8 hours my phone is drainign 4 percent and is showing that it has 4 to 6 minutes usage and that it send 20 to 30 kb of data, the thing is tho i have no email acounts or notifications or wifi. im not getting texts or anything or even using the phone at all.i made sure to not have my phone send apple data thru that pop up on itunes so im stumped. why and what data is my phone sending? it seems like its making my standby time not as good as it should be with a draning battery.i have done tones of restores from new and even just intalled the new 4.1 gold master and still have this problem.it dont rememeber my phone doing this when i first got it and apple seems to think its not a problem.shouldnt the iphone not send anydata if i set it not to? iphone 4 iOS 4
Since the ios4 update, my iphone 3G has become all but totally unusable. I know Im not the only one having these problems, and I know Apple is well aware of the issue.Im writing not to ask for a solution to this problem (since I know there isnt one yet), but to voice my dissatisfaction with the way this has been handled by Apple. Sending out an OS update that renders my two-year-old product unusable, leaving me with no recourse other than to purchase a new phone, makes me, as a consumer, feel angry, cheated, and manipulated. Simply trying to send texts or make phone calls is now such a infuriating experience that Im forced to look for a new cellphone. Because of this experience, and because of the lack of support Ive received, Ive decided it will not be another iphone. Im a long time Apple customer and Mac user. Im now done with the iphone and will be thinking twice before purchasing ANY Apple products in the future. iphone 3G iOS 4
When i try to restore my iphone Itunes gets to Preparing iphone for restore and the iphone goes to the apple logo for about 10 sec then a small loading circle appears at the bottom of the screen and it stays at this forever or until i hold down home + power button to restart it but after 15 minutes Itunes comes up with error 1603 but i have tried everything on their site to fix that with no luck.Any ideas what i can do to try fix this?N.B. Using latest Itunes and have tried multiple USB ports Windows 7
So, Ive also had call after call dropped. I thought it was just the way I was holding it, as I frequently hold it on my shoulder while Im walking around. Never had that problem with the previous model. So I got a case or two thinking that would help.....still dropping the calls, so I hold the phone at an angle now (which isnt real convenient). Now randomly the call will suddenly be on speaker, or will be on hold, & at 1:20 am,somehow it dialed my brothers number as a second call while I was on another call. I swear I was just sitting in the same position very still talking on the phone, when I hear a dialing sound, and luckily, I guess for me, it was my brother not someone else, although he wasnt too thrilled about the 1:00 am wakeup call either! What the heck is going on? iOS 4
I just wanted to post this topic as Im curious if the Apple monster will even read this or address them. I hope I get surprised. Apple makes, hands down, the most high quality of devices, but they tend to have it there way more than ours. I guess thats what makes them Apple. Without further ado, here is my list of bugs Ive noticed and I hope youll add to it. I would just love to see Apple address these:1. Performance issues with Podcasts and multiple-tasking. Youll hear stuttering on occasion, sometimes often while playing a podcast or even music. Ive noticed this at random and also at times when the phone locks or when switching out of the iPod.2. I just noticed this one: if you take the time to write on this exact site, you will find yourself getting lost, as sometimes the text goes on, and the screen doesnt follow it. Suprising that even on the iPhones home site, it cant perform the way it ought to. Youll also notice that below here, its asking me what hardware Im using and what OS. It should be clear what hardware Im on and even what OS Im running. Brilliant, considering this is Apple.com, I selected the iphone 4 section, and the browser can report the os version. Oh wow, I just lost my text again and had to press the expanding icon on the bottom right of this pane. Also, sometimes i lose my text permanently where I should be able to scroll down to find it but there arent scroll bars... The attention to detail of the aesthetics of the phone cant be matched on the outside, but again, leave a lot to be desired on the inside.3. Echo for the remote callers own voice when my phone is plugged into a stereo through the headphone jack. Even when my volume is so low, I cant hear it.4. While heavily texting, if I exit out to the home screen after/during the send of the text, my phone will freeze for a good 60-120 seconds. If I press too many buttons, trying to get it to respond, it will reboot itself instead of coming back to life. Again this only happens (very seldom) when Im sending texts to multiple random people and I abruptly go home while a message is being sent (or maybe received?).5. While playing music, the quality will often drop drastically when entering a game or application that has sounds. This has only happened in two places so far. While talking on the phone, if I go to play music on the iPod to hear in my headphones, and when entering Bejeweled 2 Blitz with the in-game music off and the sounds on, while iPod music is being played. I do not believe this is Bejeweled at fault. Try it, make a call and try and play some background music in your headphones. The quality drops to a very unacceptable level.Thats actually all I can think of for now! Please fix these issues Apple and I will gain a good bit of respect, knowing you heard and acknowledged this. Also, please, everyone post your findings as well, in addition to the Bluetooth, and proximity bugs that have seemingly been addressed but not resolved. iphone 4 iOS 4 4.0.2, thanks for the option above, and for not already knowing that.
First of all, love the new phone. I have had a strange recurring problem, though. Every 3-4 days, my phone stops sending and receiving calls and txts, even though it has a full signal. I end up restarting the phone and it again begins working fine. Any ideas?
My iphone experience has been flawless! I ordered on 6/16 in the evening with no problem. Received a ship by 7/14 date and a deliver by 7/14-7/19 date. I received an email from Apple on Friday that the order had been released and tracked the package a couple of times over the holiday at my lakehouse for the holiday and received it today (7/6) in mid-afternoon. The sync process was seamless, everything came over. Using the phone around town today, taking photos, sending and receiving texts, and I have not had problem #1. No dropping calls, no damaged or colored screen, no missing iphone when I opened the box. The process has been very well done and the iphone is really outstanding. The screen presentation is amazing, the new form factor is much easier too handle than any of the previous versions. Given that I cant believe everyone writing in is hallucinating, or incompetent or worse, lying...I wonder how many have an excellent experience like I have? I, for one, say thanks Apple, great job and also have to extend condolences to those that seem to have less than a great experience. iphone 4 iOS 4 iPad 32 Gb, MacBook Pro 13", Max OS X 10.6.4, Apple TV, Time Capsule
Hey!First and foremost, I would like to thank the community here who have provided really amazing comments and tips about the iphone. As I am still pretty new to the Apple family and with my very first iphone, I would say I have gleaned a lot from you guys! Thank you once again as you have been a really great help in my journey of discovery and learning. I have been doing a lot of reading up on battery management as after deducing what I have learn, I would like to ask if what I have is right. As we know, the battery of the iphone is extremely important and I happen to be very particular about it. Smartphones are never known for their extraordinary battery life considering all the fantastic features it holds. Therefore here is what I have found out:1. It is highly recommended to keep your iphone plugged in whenever you can (if you are not moving about), especially at the office or when you are sleeping at night. 2. Unlike conventional phones, the iphone has a special battery management system that prevents the battery from overcharging. Therefore you cannot overcharge the phone and leaving it plugged in for the whole time you are at the office or at night will not damage the battery.3. In fact, keeping the iphone plugged in either directly to the dock or original USB wall dock is said to keep the battery in optimum performance and life.4. It is also advised to use the iphone while it is plugged in for battery intensive applications like 3G / wifi serving, video playback, 3D gaming or movie editing (yay to iMovie!). This is because you are actually using the AC power instead of the battery. This follows on even after the battery has been fully charged. Doing this too does not damage the battery. Now with these findings, I would like to ask if these were so, does that mean if I am to keep the iphone plugged in for the most part of the time with the exception of it unplugged during my travels and movement about, that the battery Life Span would be prolonged? This is because rather than using the battery and having to go through the charge cycles more regularly, I am using the AC source more regularly now.Does this theory hold true and will the Life Span of the battery be prolonged? With all these said, I do understand the iphone is meant to be a mobile device and the Apple Care Plan does take care of the battery replacement. Thank you! Vaio Windows Vista
While Im on a phone call, the screen will wake (I guess due to the natural minor adjustments I make in the way I hold the phone) and when I put the phone back against my face, the key for MUTE, or hold, or END is getting pressed. This is happening a lot. I had a 3GS and this never happened! Has anyone tried using Skype on the iphone 4 using 3G service? Its basically unusable, I havent been able to hold a connection for longer than a minute or so without it dropping the call. I have an iphone 3G and I dont really know what happened. one day it just had a white screen and is not recognised by my computer. however I do get the beep from the computer to tell me that it has connected. what I have tried:1. i was going to restore it but its not recognized so cant do that2. tried to reset it with home and power buttons. all it does is give me the apple screen and then back to the white screen and off.3. tried a hard reset where i hold the home, power and up volume buttons. i get the same result as a normal reset.4. I have been told that the white screen is caused by internal hardware becoming disconnected. my warranty is up so i opened my iphone and checked and everything is connected. hp Windows 7 iphone 3g 16g
I got my iphone 4 a few days ago and i know about the service/signal issue that it has been having every time you hold it. So i was just testing it out on my 3g case just to see if my bars would drop. It stayed at 4 and 5 for a while then it dropped to 2 bars and stayed at 3. Once i took it out of the case and layed it on my desk i would get all my bars back up. I already bought a case from some site so im waiting on that to see if it will work and fix it. And i also notice that when i went into walmart today to do a bit of shopping i would only get 1 bar and maybe 2 (phone is in my pocket) so just wondering if anybody can give me some info or help me out would greatly appreciate. Thanks

In case anyone thought iSkin might not hold up to its level of fit, function and color selection, let me say that they have outdone themselves on the new Solo case. I got mine today- took advantage of the special offer and got the pink, clear and turquoise. I must say that it was worth the wait. As usual, it fits great- I love the way it covers the edge of the screen protector and the camera/flash cut out on the back is nice and wide. Just a gentle press on the volume or sleep button activates them and the edges are just thick enough to make it bounce if you accidentally drop the phone. I have used iSkin since I got my 3G and Im glad they are finally available for iPone 4. Go to www.iskin.com for the special offer which is good until the end of the month. I recently upgrade software on my iphone 3G to the new version 4 software. iTunes says its software version 4.0.2. Im so frustrated. I think its the software because immediately after I installed it is when I started noticing the problem. The problem lies with answering the phone or making calls. Im sure everyone knows that when you make a call, you can pull the phone away from your face and you have 6 buttons, i.e. mute, contacts, keypad, speaker, etc. And of course the hang up button on the bottom. Well I just did some experiments with it so I can better explain and maybe someone has experienced this or can help to solve it.I make a phone call to someone and as long as I hold the phone in front of my face so I can visibly see it, the screen stays visible. I see the background image and the 6 buttons as well as the red hang up button. As soon as I put the phone up to my ear to talk, the screen backlight goes off and the screen is black (which is normal). The only problem is that when I pull the phone away from me ear anytime after the backlight has went off, the screen will NOT come back on. So I cant pull the phone away from my ear to turn on the speaker. I cant access my contacts to give someone a number. I cant even pull the phone away to be able to hang up the call. All I can do is just push the lock key on the top of the phone to end the call. It is really frustrating, especially when you need to use the keypad, like if you call your credit card company or something and you have to enter numbers. Its just very frustrating. Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any more flaws that others are finding with this new software on the 3G? Does anyone know a fix for this? iphone 3G iOS 4 8GB, Model MB046LL; Serial 880080P3Y7H
I have been having major issues talking on my ip4, proximity issue, when talking numbers dialing, face time connecting, placing call on hold, mute etc... many of you are experiencing the same issue, yesterday I bought an Otter case and noticed the cut out for the prox sensor is right above the top speaker, appifiny.... when talking I now hold the phone so the top of phone is against my ear holding the mouth end out slightly, the issue is completly GONE... Before I would rest the phone against the side of head/face, now holding the phone with the sensor against my ear it is perfect... Funny that apple would not post somewhere the location of the prox sensor to quite all the disgruntled people out there... I got to figure this is the same reason others are having the prox issue, I will add the size/shape of the otter case makes the phone easy/natural to hold in this position.Message was edited by: ipdweller iOS 4
Nor do I have any proximity sensor issues, or any issues with the screen, or any issues at all.I debated buying the IP4 after reading about all the above issues, but I’ve got to say I have zero issues with this phone. As far as the antenna, for me, it is a complete non-issue. If I hold the phone to “bridge the antenna” for more then 30 seconds I may loose 1 or 2 bars, however I cannot tell any noticeable difference in call quality or any data usage. I hasn’t affected me at all. Amazing how it has been blown way out of proportion. The phone is pretty amazing, the battery life has seemed to double. The screen/display is beautiful. Overall the IP4 makes my 3GS look and feel like it was made in the 70’s. iphone 4 iOS 4
I was just admiring my phone in all its beauty and i noticed something. Now im going to describe this the best way i can so you all can check your phones and let me know if they have this gap and maybe it is normal if just a defect on my phone.Holding my phone in landscape mode so that the come screen is on the left and the ear speaker is on the right, i hold it in front of a large light source. like my computer monitor. I then rotate the phone so that all i see is the side steel band . now while looking at it frome the side, i noticed that at the very top, there is a gap between the back glass of the phone and the steel band near the top. the gap is couple millimeters long and VERY VERY thin. could everyone do me a favor and scrutinize over your phone and let me know if you have this gap or not. it almost looks so perfect that im thinking it is meant to be there. please let me know.
I saw Steve Jobs video about the comparison of the reception with other phones, but after having my iphone 4 since about 2 weeks now, I really notice a big difference with my previous 3g iphone. So many times a call drops even when I hold my phone with 2 fingers only, not covering the antenna.Even when the phone lays on the table, someone who tries to call me cant because on the other phone, my iphone is dead/closed.Also still, while calling, the speaker switches on all the time because I probably touch the icon with my cheek. Those things never happened with the 3G phone.I hope its only a matter of updating the firmware... imac G5 Mac OS X (10.5.6) 2.5 gb ram
If this has been discussed before, my apologies. IMO, killing apps that you want to kill right away is a disaster in OS 4. Example I am using Motion X for navigation. I want to turn it off, because simply minimizing it continues the navigation. I literally have to make SEVEN gestures!!!!! First, close the app. Then double-click to bring up the open apps list. Then select the app (if its in the first row). Then hold my finger on the app. Then click on the kill X. Then click home again. SEVEN!!!!!! This is absolutely unacceptable from a company that prides itself on intuitive, simple IU. There are other UI features of OS4 that were not implemented well. What do others think? How about a simple kill app feature on every app? Or a swipe diagonal or something? iphone 4 iOS 4
Word of warning, the latest update has wiped my entire phone, and the restore option hasnt restored anything. No e-mail, no numbers, no photos, no apps, no videos...Apple has really messed up this time, not what one expects from a premium product. I read a few posts here about battery drain. Me too! I went to bed with almost a full charge and woke up with it saying Less then 20%. I saw one post that thought it might be texts that you get. Its not every night but I did notice this morning I had 1 miss call and 1 missed text message. There may be a link between missed call and or text messages waiting for you. HelloI have iphone 4.I had iphone 3g (always keep up to date software - 3.1.3 I think)I phone 3g started to not connect phone calls, people trying to phone me couldnt only effected about 10% of people trying to contact me.My texts were a little slow sending.iphone 4Working lovely, over time, more and more phone calls wont get through, more and more texts are being delayed even though sent. I would say its about 80% of phone calls now and about 60% of texts. When people do get hold of me, there is a huge interference on the line, (apparently really bad for them).I have taken my phone to o2, who have reset everything, nothing different. I have all software up to date, the last o2 guy said make sure the software is up to date. My phone is up to date running, 4.0.2.Any ideas on why or what to do? iphone 4, iphone 3G (latest 3.1.3) iOS 4
so i have had an iphone 3g for almost a year and a half or so since its launch pretty much.its not unlocked, its still on vodafone and has been working fine so far..i updated to the new ios last month and things seemed to really slow down and werent working too well.today a strange thing has happened-i received a call, spoke for a short bit and then cut the cal and went back to work. Seems now my phone wont start up again, the unlock button doesnt work the home button doesnt work and neither does flipping between silent and general settings.the screen just doesnt light up.even when trying to switch off nothing works.apparantly people have been trying to call me and the call does ring on their end however i have no clue coz the phone is not ringing,no texts nothing, just sitting like an idle box...so is this a software issue related to the ios4 or a hardware issue?please advise and if there is any way i can recover my data?
Since I upgraded my iphone to os4 it will tell me that I have new text messages on the home screen but when I open messages, I cant see it. I have to use the search option and if I put in the correct contact, it will show up.Once I have read the message, either the blue button indicating an unread message does not disappear or the button disappears but the number of unread messages on the home screen doesnt change. This is leading to me not discovering messages for days or not even realising that I have new messages to read!It is driving me INSANE! okay...im sure there a lot of topics on this, but i cant find anything is fixing the issue. i traded my 32gb ipod for a 16gb iphone 3G. i traded it mainly because i wanted to unlock it to t-mobile. i wanted to updated it to ios4 so i wouldnt have to keep unlocking it after each iphone/ipod update. so i updated it, and it went into recovery mode. i tried putting it into dfu mode, and its stuck in recovery mode. ive tried restoring it and it just loops back into recovery mode. ive tried the whole hold down the both buttons and release the sleep button but hold the home button until this happens thing. im starting to get really frustrated. i tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling itunes and the same thing happens. NOW.... im getting an error that says that itunes cannot recognize this iphone because of an unknown error. do i need to downgrade os? how do i do that? i just need to be able to get it out of recovery mode so i can unlock it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance! mac g4 Mac OS X (10.4.11)
How do you text to a promotional code on the iphone? For example, if the promotion says text 72008 and receive automatic updates, promotional texts, etc. I texted the number but it automatically changes it to 720-08 which comes back as invalid. I cant seem to get it to not try and put it into a phone number format. Also, can I text a code without have a message body? iphone 4 iOS 4
hi i am having this strange and frustrating problem with my iphone 3G. When it feels like it (since 3 weeks ago), my phone just dies off and wont come back to life. the first time it died i really thought it was dead. It wont respond to pressing the sleep or home button in any way, fashion or form. what i normally do is hold sleep + home for minutes on end in hope it will come back. after a few days it would decide to resurrect itself, and then after a few more days it would decide to die off again. it has happened 6 times already and it has happened now. this was the longest i have had it not die off for a while (6 days). i have tried everything in google and other forums like charging it overnight for it to do a hard reset, trying to put in DFU mode, using wall charger instead, restart PC, this, that and the other. i tried to find the cause, but it dies off randomly. the first time i thought it was because i let the battery drain (because i did). but then it happened whilst browsing safari. the next time whilst charging and one time after i pressed lock. i think it has a brain of its own. anyone help? iphone 3G iOS 4
I have just become a new user of the iphone with my new iphone 4 and this is also my first touch screen phone. Very excited about the ease of use of many of the functions/apps that have been opened up to me. However I am very disappointed with the phones functions. It seems to take a very long time to find a persons name to make a simple call. This is basically because of there not being buttons and having to use the touch screen. Yes you can put some people into favourites but not too many otherwise it becomes just as hard to find that name as looking for it in contacts. It would be helped by being able to put groups into the favourites (e.g. family, friends, work etc) but dont think it will ever be as fast as having buttons that you can pretty much use without looking. Also annoying is in messages when trying to write a text that the send button is just above the o and p and myself and people I know have on a number of occasions sent texts before finishing it then having to send another one explaining why I just sent an incomplete text. Why cant the button be up the top like when writing an email on the iphone? Are there ways around some of my issues that I havent worked out or can apple maybe read this and hopefully correct some of these issues?Im sure Ill have more to say the more I play with it but Ill still have fun with the other things the device is more than capable of. iphone 4 iOS 4
Hey yall,I updated my phone a couple of days ago to the new software update, 4.0.1.(2 now). My phone worked fine before the update. But now I cannot receive phone calls/texts, even when It says I have 5 bars and 3G coverage. Ive done everything. Took the sim card out, reset (network and full), restore, etc. The weird thing is when I do a reset, it will work for about a minute, and then go back to not working. Im not sure if this is my phone, the update or what. I know its not the coverage, because my families phones are working just fine with AT&T. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. iphone 3G iOS 4
Hi Everyone,Im a bit frustrated right now. A couple days back I decided to downgrade from 4.0 to 3.13. No problems, things went smooth as silk, but being an idiot about this stuff, didnt know I was supposed to back up all my data, texts, pictures, and most importantly plants vs zombies saved games. Yep, I lost it all. Being the swift thinker that I am, I thought no big deal, I can just upgrade back to 4 and restore from all my saved data. Heres the challenge: Itunes on my win 7 rig no longer recognizes my 3g iphone. Made an appt to go to the local genius bar and of course the phone worked fine on their macs. The genius was nice enough to put 4 on my phone and send me out the door. As Im walking out the door, I go to the app store on my phone to see if I can just download all the apps Ive purchased directly on the phone. That didnt work, I was only able to get the Google mobile app. I get home and itunes still does not recognize my iphone. I do some digging and it appears there are some issues with my motherboard (P55, in a Dell XPS8000) and itunes. After dinking with things a few too many hours I finally decide to just use my old laptop to load up my now empty iphone. Itunes on the laptop recognizes the iphone and I authorize my computer for the store and think Ill have a couple hours to kill to download my apps. . . Ugh! Only one ap has downloaded, google mobile. My guess is I somehow wiped out the record of my other purchases even though they show in my purchase history in the app store. My pleas for help are: 1. Is there any possible way to get my pictures back that I had back in 3.1.3?2. Any way to get back my apps Ive already purchased. 3. Any success stories with P55 motherboards, Ive tried running itunes in compatible mode, making changes to regedit, opening in iphone explorer, pretty much all the steps that come up in a google search. Thanks for any help. Tim Dell Studio XPS 8000
Ive had my 3G for about a year, and Ive noticed lately the battery has been terrible. I have wi-fi and blutooth off, push is on, set to fetch every 15 minutes. Even when its sleeping it drains, which it never used to do. The standby time used to be fantastic. I do a hard shutdown (holding the sleep and home until apple logo appears) every other day. the talk time is barely an hour. Do you guys have any other suggestions that I can try? Im trying to hold out until January for an iphone 4, when my contract is elIgible for a full upgrade, but this is getting ridiculous. Thanks! iphone 3G iOS 4
I just updated my iphone 3G with the new software and it deleted all my SMS. I still have all my contacts, photos, and music. It said that it backed it up prior to installing the software so what happened and is there anyway I can get my texts back?? iphone 3G iOS 4
The ability to double tap and hold to get to your favorites on iphone 4 was available.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I3KEAZhXFMBut I cant seem to be able to access this functionality with 4.0.1.can anyone confirm that in 4.0.1? Mac OS X (10.6.4)
Is there any iphone app (that does not require connecting to computer/syncing/etc.) that automatically saves text messages as soon as they are sent or received? For instance, say I receive a message, and delete it immediately after reading it. Is there an application that will automatically save the text I received into the iphone, to where I can open this app and view every text message ever sent/received even if I deleted it? Basically something like a keylogger that only records sent or received texts.I understand that you can keep records of SMS by syncing to iTunes (or via another computer-based app), but Im wondering if there is a way to store text history automatically within an app on the phone (similar to your call log being stored online at your carriers website even after you delete the call log on your phone). iOS 4
If someone texts me a phone number, and I want to create a new contact from the sms text, touching create new contact initiates facetime instead. If I click add to existing contact, the New contact page is displayed. MBP Mac OS X (10.6.4)
