Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help :   My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... '  I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue.  My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ?  Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i?   My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Spyware is very easily accessible and requires nothing from the Apple store, and although I realize some of these posts are several years old-at this point, it is simply misinformation.  All one needs is a similar program to the one in the link above and not only can your sms messages be accessed, your calls be intercepted and recorded, but the camera in your phone can be remotely accessed and activated at any given time without your knowledge.  As you tap away on your handy little iphone you love so much, in whatever possibly "compromising" or embarrassing position you may be in at the time, a creeper can be looking you straight in your face or observing your enviornement at their leisure.  Imagine the horror in finding out that you were sitting there on the toilet gaming and someone was watching you the whole time or better yet, while you were involved in an intimate interaction while your phone sat charging on a dock on the nightstand next to the bed?  How about knowing that every incoming and outgoing communication is recorded and documented for the creep to scroll and read through like a book?    This is some scary stuff, and it's been used on me via an encrypted picture message.  I've done a full restore of my iphone and the pc used for backing up via iTunes to ensure that the spyware wasn't then rooted into the pc or the iTunes, and was even told to create an etirely new Apple ID, but aside from this and there being no true scanning software for malware, spyware or viruses for the iphone-how can I be sure that this encrypted software has truly been eradicated?  Is there an antiviral program that I am unware of?  I'm not looking for a secure AVG browser, I'm looking for a detect and destroy scanner program. <Link Edited by Host>

Can my iphone 5 be hacked through free app downloaded from App store

I updated my phone to iOS 6.1.3 today. This evening (two hours ago) I downloaded a free app called "Caption Pics" by Viral Media Entertainment. About 15 minutes ago, something weird happened. I had 6 apps that the App Store wanted to update. I went to update them. The App Store asked for my Apple ID. Seemed odd to have to submit for an update, but I did. Got a message saying it was an incorrect password. So I entered it again. Same error. I enter it a 3rd time before I realize that it's asking me to enter an Apple ID for an ID that isn't even mine! It was completely different, even the domain name. I immediately deleted the two apps I downloaded today and restarted my iphone. I also immediately reset Apple ID password from my computer. I saved my photos without syncing.  I'm doing a factory reset/restore right now. I'm a bit weirded out...  I realize it could be a fluke. Servers sometimes get bits of information mixed up. Someone else could be cursing right now because they think someone tried to hack them and got them locked out of the App Store. But still. This is weird. Any insight? Anything else I can do to protect myself?

I just got a text message (not iMessage..) from a number 561-900-66--, with the message "Omg Cathy (my first name).." followed by a mysterious bit.ly/xxxx URL. I clicked on the link (thinking it's somoene I know since the person got my first name), it automatically re-directed a few times on my iphone's Safari browser.. ie. sort of like how spam/viruses go when you click on them on a real computer. I shut down the Safari app quickly but not sure how much of the page already loaded. Does anyone know anything about this spam/virus? And, is it possible to hack my iphone? Helloi might have accidentally shorted the cables of the USB to 30 pin lead. They were connected between them as someone triped over the cable.After this the phone will not be recognised on the PC (error is USB hardware not recognised) and it will not charge from the wall charger. However the phone still works fine and it remotly synchronises. iOS6 makes my 4S not work wifi apps facetime calls iphone

Since updating to iOS6, my 4S is incredibly slow with internet (sometimes to the point of not working at all), and my apps load incredibly slowly. What is most irritating, however, is that I cannot have phone calls or facetime. Calls are constantly dropped within the first minute and facetime has to reconnect after, at most, 15 seconds before disconnecting completely. I've looked around and not seen any fixes. Does anyone have any ideas? Also, why isn't Apple letting the world know they're working on fixing this problem? Does anyone know if they are even remotely close to fixing this? When you can't use your phone as a phone, it's pretty disgusting.

Tonight, I received 5 text messages (all at the same time) from numbers with different area codes.  They all knew my name and each one of them said my number was posted on sites such as mibbit and isexychat.. i didnt even know those sites existed.  It happened to my friend last week too, but the person said he got her number from parachat.  We have never posted our numbers online.  It is possible to have a conversation with them, as they do reply back and answer some of our questions.  Is this a hack? I have been having serious issues with regards to unlocking my iphone 4 with use on other networks. I originally contacted O2 Network approx 3weeks ago to both cancel my contract and unlock my phone as I was in the process of emigrating to Australia. At the time I was told this would be a quick and painless process.  Since this time I have received an email on the 20th August stating that my IMEI number was not attached to my mobile number. I contacted customer services again to confirm my IMEI number and that at no stage has my phone been replaced under warranty/repair. This was then 'actioned'  to the next stage of this process and I was told this would take approx ten days.  It is now the 4th September and I am currently in Australia. Upon attempting to use. New sim card in my iphone this did not work. I contacted customer services who told me to use iTunes, which did not solve the problem.  Again today I contacted customer services again regarding this issue. I went through the whole process up to this point. The advice I was then given was that the advisor would submit the form again, for what is now the 3rd time, and if this doesn't work that I may need to find someone in Australia that can hack iPhones!? Furthermore, when I enquired as to whether or not the fact my contract terminates on the 4th September, would affect my unlatching process, I was told this may prevent this from completing! I am actually amazed that an advisor in a reputable UK company, after several years of being a loyal customer to, has now advised me to hack my iphone. Can Apple themselves unlock my phone in their stores/Genius bar?

I'm using my iphone to control my itunes library Home Sharing on the computer with the Remote App. I then stream the audio from iTunes to my stereo over wifi using AirPlay with the AirPort Express connected to my stereo. My question is can an incoming call on my phone send a sound to the stereo through this configuration. I would just play music from my iphone over airplay straight to the stereo, but the wifi to the AirPort Express is limited from the iphone (structural obstacles on movable).Signal from the computer to the Airport is excellent, and signal from the phone to the computer is excellent, so I control the songs on the computer with Remote app on my iphone, then stream the audio form the computer to the stereo with AirPlay. Trying to find a way to get the incoming call to ring through the stereo too.I have the music volume up and don't always hold my phone.. Any ideas?Thank you in advance.Mark

Unable to sign in to YouTube app after creating new Gmail account iphone 3G

I had to create a new Gmail account as apparently my old one had several hack attempts so I closed it down and opened a new one. Attempting to sign in to the YouTube app, it says the information is not valid even though I KNOW it is because I signed out and back into Google with the same details and got in fine. I have seen other threads on here for the same issue but the solutions do not work - one suggests clicking on 'Mobile Set Up' on the YouTube homepage but that option no longer exists.  I have set up two-step verification with my Google account and tried to log in using my app-specific password and still can't get in.  I've managed to sign into the Safari mobile site fine with the same information, I just cannot sign into the app. On the Google and YouTube site, it just states to sign in using your YouTube username or Gmail address - I've been using my Gmail address as there is no longer an option to have a YouTube username with these new Google accounts - but it says that should work fine, and if not the follow the two-step verification process, which I've already done with no success. I am absolutely sick of ridiculous issues like this with my stupid iphone - which I hate, I will add.  I have been driven to distraction so much by this issue that I have hurled my pathetic phone at the wall three times so far which has resulted in two blue screen reboots. Unfortunately, the horrible thing keeps turning back on. Can someone please provide a SOLUTION THAT WORKS to this ridiculous problem, before I stalk into my nearest Apple store and demand they fix it for me or they will need to forcibly remove me from the store.  How the **** can a simple sign-in process be such a bloody problem?  I suspect it's the evil disgusting folk behind Google (which I also hate and am forced to have purely because of YouTube) but they have so far been unable to provide a solution to this problem.

I just flew back to China and changed the SIM Card back to my local provider here - China Unicom. Suddenly the Share App - that comes along with iOS - Yahoo - showed 2 more share prices, one from an entertainment company in Hongkong and one from China Unicom. I had not entered those into the app. Question: can a service provider do that, can they remotely add or change apps? Hi, my iphone 4 was stolen yesterday on the last day of my Holiday in Ibiza.It was on the O2 network in the UK, had a 4-digit screen lock on it, but I don't think the wipe after 10 failed password attempts setting was on.I think iCloud was installed on the phone as I'm sure I saw it listed in the settings on the phone but I haven't got an iCloud account.Almost certain the Operating System was iOS 5.0.1. I contacted my network yesterday & had my SIM card blocked & IMEI blocked, so from this I'm quite sure the phone is now unusable, unless they are able to run through as many pass code attempts as they want. Left my phone in a cab. ten min later it was turned off... I had a lock screen turned on but not the setting where it would wipe all data. I used the find my iphone app to see that its location was unavailable. Selected email me when it comes back on. few hours later i get an email and its new location but a few min later it was unavailable again. I am assuming to restore it to default settings or something.   Is there a way for whomever turned it off to acquire my information on the phone? OK, latest uipdate after 2 hours with Verizon Tech Service, 30 min. with Apple who passed me back to VZ, then 3 more hours with VZ senior tech analyst.....   The VZ guy found a recent internal memo from Apple about a bug in the iphone.  Once the very first initial setup of the iphone occurs, if the voicemail 'set up now' procedure isn't followed right then, then the setup buttom may not become available again and there is no way to trigger it to appear.  Restored the iphone completely, reset all settings, reprovisioned the VZ settings.  Nothing would cause the 'set up now' button to reappear on the visual voicemail screen. The tech said they have seen many users with this problem.  They are sending me a new iphone, he said that's the only way to fix it!!!     I am fine with that since I just got my iphone 4  weeks ago anyway.   But seriously, a software bug on the phone that can't be fixed remotely or patched.  I am surprised at Apple on this one.......

Can t Apple Remote to iTunes when using iphone as Personal Hotspot

My AT&T iphone 4S is set up to be used as Personal Hotspot.  So I turn HotSpot on and connect my MacBook Pro to my iphone's internet just fine. However, when I open Apple Remote app on the iphone, it won't connect to iTunes on my MBP.   I have set it up at home where both iphone and MBP are connected to the wireless connection on the Apple Airport.  It worked perfectly in that configuration. I'm in a band that plays weddings and corporate events.  During breaks, I use Apple iTunes to DJ tracks.  If I can't use Remote, I'm tethered to the stage constantly.  This is a big problem.  I need the internet connection to buy songs that are requested that I don't already own.  And I need to be able to control iTunes remotely for when I'm in the crowd running microphones from one person to another during speeches and such. Is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere?  Or am I just outta luck for this configuration? Thx, Patrick

iphone 4s-Apps Won t Update

Disclaimer: I have searched for answers to my particular problem, but either a) the problems aren't the same or b) there's still no answer to problems that are even remotely similar. I have an iphone 4s that I sync via iCloud and/or with my MacBook Air, and all devices have the latest software updates. Here's the problem: just yesterday, my iphone lost the ability to update apps. I'll go to the App Store on my device to check for updates and see one or two or however many...I'll hit the update button, enter my password, and then the app icons turn grey like normal, with the empty progress bar underneath. The problem, however, is that nothing happens past that. The icons remain greyed out, with an empty progress bar underneath and the apps never update. I've tried updating over different WiFi networks as well as over 3G, yet nothing works. I can update the apps on my MacBook Air, but it doesn't even work when I plug my device directly into the Air. The same apps still need updating on my iphone. I've tried resetting my iphone via the normal two methods, and the problem still persists. And additionally, my iphone keeps randomly popping up the iTunes password box on my screen. This usually happens at some point after I've attempted to update an app, gotten frustrated because it won't update, and then reset my phone. Any help would be much appreciated.

Need help with siri over university wifi network iphone 4S

So I got an iphone 4s yesterday, and was excited to use siri, but hadn't been able to at all. (get the 'I'm really sorry, can't take any requests now" etc message)After a day of googling possible solutions and troubleshooting and resetting all settings etc I've finally got it work once or twice, but only over 3G/Edge and not over wifi (which I've not had much opportunity to do since I get really poor reception for it in my room at university, but it's not normally an issue cos I have wifi). So I've basically worked out that Siri won't work over the university's wifi. My only guess as to why is that you have to use a the university's proxy server. This is fine, normally, and I can surf the web or whatever fine on my phone, just not use siri. My guess is that it stops Apple's servers recognising my device as a 4s?I've tried googling this issue, but obviously anything to do with 'siri' and 'proxy' in google just throws up results on how people have worked out how to 'hack' siri. Would appreciate any help in getting Siri to work over wifi, otherwise it basically looks like I won't be able to use my 4s for the main function I bought it for.

Hi, I have an unlocked iphone 4S, I am connected to a network that is unable to effect a change to the Voicemail Number, i.e. the number the Voicemail button calls. How do you change this number, many have asked here and elsewhere on the internet but as yet no solution from Apple. How long is it going to take Apple to give out this information? Personal Hotspot goes away takes forever to get it back then adds another homegroup each time iphone 4S

I am out of town and trying to use my personal hotspot.  Ever since I updated to OS 5 I have had this problem.  When I disconnect in windows 7, I can not reconnect withouth messing with settings.  When it does connect it creates a new homegroup so my iphone is now up to group 10!  Yikes I need help!!  I am working remotely this week plus I am in school full time I dont have time for this?  Any suggestions out there???  Went to the ATT store they had me delete the connection and start over, worked fine for a bit, then shut down my computer and I am finally back on after 30 minutes of trying.

I can remotely play tunes from my iphone to my mac in the living room. Why cant it output the sound from my iphone at the same time to the dock connected to speakers? Ci, 8600, iMac Bondi Blue, iBook G3, G4 Graphite, iPod Nano, iphone, iMac 24" Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Misuse of camera by anonymous caller iphone 4

I received an anonymous call. Was told it was from Telstra and to push button 1. With the i phone now hels away from my face (to view the keyboard) I pressed 1 and the camera sounded as if a photo had been taken. Then the call ended. Is it possible to remotely get a picture of the phone user? (I should add that I am being persued by debt collectors for money owed by my ex wife and so am more suspicious than usual) I-Phone 4 -Australian version iOS 4
