Turn wiped of data iPhone3 without S into iTouch for son

I have a new iPhone 4G & have transferred all data from the old iPhone 3G. Wiped the iPhone 3G and want to rebuild it for my son from my own iTunes account. So he can use all the games I downloaded. He only is 9 so I dont want to give him a phone SIM yet. Now the 3G is wiped clean the message on the iPhone is Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone. iTunes says the SIM is locked.I dont want to put in SIM. My old SIM is no longer working. Ported mobile number from carrier.How do I tell iTunes to forget about asking for a SIM? MacBook Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Bottom of touchscreen suddenly not working. Cant unlock. iPhone 3G

My iPhone 3G was working perfectly until a few hours ago when the bottom of the touchscreen suddenly went dead. I was playing games on it with absolutely no issues, then set it down and of course it locked. I went to unlock it a while later and nothing happened. The first thing I tried was rebooting it, which is how I found out the TOP of the screen works since the slide to power off is at the top, and worked fine, but I couldnt cancel since thats at the bottom. I have also already tried restoring it with no luck.I know this is a long shot because I have been all over the internet hoping for a fix but I figured it couldnt hurt to ask if anyone has any other ideas. This is my only phone and its completely useless. To top it off my warranty ended earlier this month. If it comes down to having to pay for a repair, it might just be cheaper for me to upgrade to a completely different phone. I love my iPhone though and it would really stink to have to do that! iPhone 3G iOS 4

transferring saved data to new iphone. 3G

I just recently upgraded my laptop from the original macbook pro to the new 13 inch ones. doing that I am giving my older laptop, hence i have to transfer all the data to my new one. I didnt do the firewire transfer and did everything manually as i wanted everything to be fresh and new. one problem is that i dont know how to transfer my current apps saved data(games, etc) to my new itunes in my new laptop. how do you do that? i have backed up my apps into another and transferred it to my new one, but i doubt if the saved ones too get transferred, how do you know if the saved data too is saved? as synching automatically removes everything? Need help please iPhone 3G

Hi Everyone,Im a bit frustrated right now. A couple days back I decided to downgrade from 4.0 to 3.13. No problems, things went smooth as silk, but being an idiot about this stuff, didnt know I was supposed to back up all my data, texts, pictures, and most importantly plants vs zombies saved games. Yep, I lost it all. Being the swift thinker that I am, I thought no big deal, I can just upgrade back to 4 and restore from all my saved data. Heres the challenge: Itunes on my win 7 rig no longer recognizes my 3g Iphone. Made an appt to go to the local genius bar and of course the phone worked fine on their macs. The genius was nice enough to put 4 on my phone and send me out the door. As Im walking out the door, I go to the app store on my phone to see if I can just download all the apps Ive purchased directly on the phone. That didnt work, I was only able to get the Google mobile app. I get home and itunes still does not recognize my iphone. I do some digging and it appears there are some issues with my motherboard (P55, in a Dell XPS8000) and itunes. After dinking with things a few too many hours I finally decide to just use my old laptop to load up my now empty iphone. Itunes on the laptop recognizes the iphone and I authorize my computer for the store and think Ill have a couple hours to kill to download my apps. . . Ugh! Only one ap has downloaded, google mobile. My guess is I somehow wiped out the record of my other purchases even though they show in my purchase history in the app store. My pleas for help are: 1. Is there any possible way to get my pictures back that I had back in 3.1.3?2. Any way to get back my apps Ive already purchased. 3. Any success stories with P55 motherboards, Ive tried running itunes in compatible mode, making changes to regedit, opening in iphone explorer, pretty much all the steps that come up in a google search. iPhone as touch 3G

Our original iPhone (1G) first went to our daughter who, after getting her own donated it to our other daughters daughter (Our grand daughter whos nearly 4) after removing the SIM card to make sure she wasnt accidentally placing calls to Hong Kong. Shes been playing age appropriate games on it for several months now. Heres the problem. Some of the games are expiring and my daughter went onto the app store in her iTunes but iTunes shows the iPhone as belonging to my first daughter and wont let her make changes. I had her do a reset in iTunes but now it wont work at all because is simply says, Hey, what happened to my SIM card?? and wont let her proceed to load apps.I need to have the iPhone open to use by daughter number two (and hence grand daughter) without using a SIM card, which would probably have to be activated in any event. i have Iphone 3G and recently updated to Io4. The phone became slow in responding even to apps. But the sound in various games (bubble pop, grand piano, NFSU -need for speed undercover) was working. yesterday I restored the phone through itunes and the speed is better. But now i dont get music and sound in these games though the music is on. Ringer not working with incoming calls sound not working on games iPhone

Hi, my phone isnt ringing when I get calls. The sounds for games are also not working. Sounds are turned on in settings. The sounds work when I change the volume, etc. in the settings panel. The ringer is not turned off...checked that. Sound on movies and music is working. What magic switch am I missing?! This has not been a problem before. I starting using the alarm on the phone last week, but I dont think theres a correlation since I turned off the alarm to test and still didnt have any ringtone with an incoming call. iPhone 3G Issues

Hi All,I had my phone replaced about 2 months ago as I had a few issues with it like a crack in the back of it. Apple were really good as I had a carepack the did a straight replacement of the phone so I was happy.Since then, I have the following issues with the phone:1. it freezes when trying to load things like web pages, mail, messages etc (it starts to load a web page, then freezes for 20 seconds before continuing.2. I reset it the other day, and it put itself into recovery mode which left me without a phone for most of the day3. It keeps removing all of my music. I have it set in iTunes to manaully manage the music, but when Ive just gone in to listen to some music at work, it says that I have no music available, but I only have 1.5gb of space left on my phone. So its like its there, but hidden.4. Ive found that this phone is a lot slower than the old one, and gets really hot when Im playing games or its on charge, which the old one didnt.Should I take it back to Apple and ask them to have another look at it?ThanksPaul iPhone 3G iOS 4

Iphone 3g 4.0.1 OS Problems

I loved my iphone. SOOOOOO MUCH. However when i updated to 4.0 because of some Apps requiring it i was appalled...*** apple!?!My phone is 3X as slow now in texting, pull up different screens, and games. Some game apps i cant even play due to the phone lagging. (ever try playing scoops while the ice cream jumps down the screeN?)The iphone also will go from 5 bars to 1/0 bars which screws up texting slightly and drops calls constantly. Iphone font size just became super large. Need help to re-size the text size.

Just bought the Iphone 3GS about a week ago and have been downloading games ets both paid and free. All of a sudden, the text sizes became extra large and I am unable to re-size the text to a more readable size. Even signing-in is difficult. iPhone 3G White Screen of Death Problem

So a month or two ago, my deactivated (had no cell service, still worked for games and such) iPhone 3G got a white screen. It would go from that screen to black if I pressed the lock button. So after looking around on the Internet, I still found no solution. Most just said, press the lock and home buttons for 10 seconds, and some said do that but also press volume up. None of this worked. When I did try the lock and home buttons, it would give me a black screen, and go back to white. iPhone 3G Landscape Mode Problems

After updating to iOS4 my iPhone has trouble going into landscape mode, I have deleted all settings and restored the iPhone. When I go to the calculator application and put it sideways it does not go into landscope mode. However, If I shake the iphone sideways it DOES go into landscope mode and if I shake the iPhone again it will go back into portait mode.When I play games such as backbreaker the game works perfectly and I have perfect control of controlling the iPhone.I would like to know some feedback or troubleshooting methods I could do. Slow Response Time on iPhone 3G

On or about r4.0 coming out I started experiencing significant Response Time delays moving between keys on my iPhone and not sure why. I believe this to be a Processor issue... anybody else out there experiencing this issue. Example:Select Setting icon on Home Screen... reasonable response time of 1-secSelect General icon tab... 3-4 sec delay in response Select another tab on General screen... another 3-4 sec delay before new screen appears.Hit Home button to close General window... 3-4 sec delay...Select Messaging icon... goes to white screen and 3-4 sec delay before messaging dialogue screen comes upKeep in mind that there arent any other apps running in the background that causes response time delaysThe response time delays occur, regardless whether I am on Edge, Wi-fi or 3G.. I do not believe this to be a Networking issue...Also, I only have 3- menu screens with maybe 23 app icons showing... most of which are iPhone apps like iTunes, Messaging, Settings, Mail, Safari, Stocks, weather, camera, contacts, calendar, pix, Maps, no games!! I have done master reboot on phone... Network Reset... & Restore... on rare occasions I will resume a 1-1.5 sec response time between my selections, otherwise, returning to 3-4 sec delays.Coincidently, around the time this issue occurred, I had upgraded iTunes to 9.2 but doubt this created issues...I eventually downloaded r4.0 thinking a bug fix may have been included... but issue continued...Any feedback? I just wanted to write in and let 3G users know that fixing symptoms wont fix your iPhones performance if its running on the new iOS 4 update.You maybe able to restore issues such as contacts, photos, etc. by restoring with iTunes, but the general performance drop wont be fixed by troubleshooting these issues, such as turning your iPhone off and on again.I recently developed a professional games app that we optimised for 2 weeks straight in order to perform smoothly for iOS 4 and its impossible because the new OS maxes out (or close to) the memory usage prior to using your apps. So no matter how much rebooting you do, you wont have enough memory to run the apps smoothly.No matter what we tried as developers, as professional customers, we couldnt get the app to run as smoothly as the previous, and appropriate, OS 3 for 3G. So dont be surprised if you find that youll need to revert to a version of OS 3.Apple shouldnt have allowed 3G users to update to OS 4 without proper usage of the memory. It seems that 3G users are being forced to upgrade the hardware, but I would have thought that the inability to upgrade the OS on the 3G would have encouraged customers to purchase the iPhone 4 alone. For the time being, and until Apple officially fix the memory and performance, revert to using OS 3 and save yourselves from a lot of hassle.Message was edited by: Super Hugger 3G iOS 4

volume bad on games fine with music and videos iPhone 3G

Why my apps die after sync iPhone

Everything was fine until I plugged in my phone and synced with iTunes. This happened with both 2.0 updates. The only way I could get apps to work was by downloading them through the App Store via wireless. I figured new update would fix this. Nope! I also tried this on three different computers with no luck. Also used two different USB cables to see if the cable was the problem. All the computers I used have USB 2.0. Two of the PCs are Vista and the other is XP. I am not reinstalling these apps as I do not want to lose saved games progress and other things. Also, some of the music that I sync does not sync well. Some skips here and there as if a scratched CD. I checked the mp3s on my PC and they are perfect.What else can I do? Windows Vista

I have since restore my phone, turned the volume up for everything, ipod, games...etc. But the speaker is just not projecting a loud sound; it produces a very muffled sound. Now, I know its not a blown speaker, because this same thing happened with a previous iPhone I had, (I mean down to the silencing a phone call and everything.) ANY advice would be helpful!! How to re-load OS 3.0 without iTunes My iPhone has NON-Apple alien OS. 3G

My iPhone has a NON-Apple alien Chinese OS running. This OS caused iTunes to NOT see the phone on USB when I connect the phone to the computer. I want to re-load the non-Apple OS to Apple version 3.0 but I cannot because iTunes does not see the phone. I know the os is Chinese and alien because none of the icons are correct, example I see no ipod, its labeled audioplayer. I see no Safari, its labeled services and so on. I also can NOT see the about, its not found. I have a video recorder it works, I thought iPhone 3G can not run videos. I have lots of Chinese games and symbols. I do have the at&t SIM, it works OK, and I just want to load the phone with the latest Apple 3G version 3.0 OS and have iTunes see the phone like every other American iPhone but I can not figure out how to do that without iTunes seeing the iPhone. iPhone 3G Other OS 3G OS is Chinese

Ringtone disappeared iPhone

I recently bought a ringtone for my new 3GS (Benny Hill theme), and had it set as my default ringtone for about a week. Today, I noticed that I was back to the default ringtone, and the purchased one is no where to be found.Ive been Googling quite a bit, and cant really find any answers that apply to my situation. Several times Ive seen people mention the Ringtones section in the Library, but my Library has no Ringtones section.I went back to the iStore, found the exact same ringtone, but it looks like Id have to purchase it all over again.All Ive done lately is add a couple of games to the phone, I have no idea why this would happen.p.s. I thought about checking sync ringtones on the ringtone tab when my phone is connected to iTunes, but I get a message saying that all music, movies, and tv shows will be deleted. iPhone 4 Pre-Order One More Question

Not to beat a dead horse, but I couldnt find discussions that completely answered my questions. (My second question is the one I am most looking for an answer to.)1. I am currently an iPhone 3G owner, which is my first-ever iPhone, and naturally I plan to get the iPhone 4 as quickly as possible. I am planning to pre-order it through Apple (in order to pay via debit card) and have it shipped to my house. Since AT&T has sped up eligibility, I will be able to get the iPhone for the fully subsidized price through the Apple website, correct? Also, I currently have the unlimited data plan for $30, and I want to change that to the newer, 200mb plan for $15. (I almost always have a WiFi connection, and therefore only use about 100-150mb a month.) I know I would need to go to an AT&T store to change my plan, but would I need to do this before pre-ordering (and possibly lose upgrade eligibility) or after I activate the new phone (and possibly lock myself into a new 2-year contract with the $30 plan)? Or is this simply something I would have to go to AT&T about? I wasnt sure if anyone on here would have any advice.2. As I said, I have the iPhone 3G. I know that when I activate my new iPhone 4, it will deactivate my old one. I had originally planned to give my old phone to a friend or family member, to be used more in the way of an iPod touch- it would not be used as a phone. However, if the 3G is deactivated, does that make it completely useless (such as, no playing music or games on it) or does that only make it useless as a phone (can still access the home screen and apps, etc.) If I cant give it to someone to use like an iTouch, it seems pretty pointless to keep it around, and I would probably sell it to someone to use as a phone, but I would much prefer to give it to my father, boyfriend, etc. to use as an iTouch.Any help would be greatly appreciated! Mic Speaker stopped working iPhone 3G

My iPhone 3G was working fine till last evening...suddely the speaker and mic stopped working....can receive calls and make calls. But i cant hear any thing neither the person on the other end when i make / receive calls. I tried the test of pressing the volume button it says ringer and not showing as headphones. I am able to hear if i plug in the headphone. None of the sounds are audible like songs, sounds in games...checked all the settings in sound all perfect....Pls help

iPhone Restore Failing at Verifying IPhone Restore Error-6 3G

i have an old iPhone 3G that i use for my daughter. i took out the sim card and she could watch movies and play games. it crashed one day so i plugged it into a mac and tried to restore. well it goes through its processes and gets to Verifying iPhone Restore (it completes Verifying iPhone Software) and stops with an Error 6. I looked at Apples page here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275 and Error 6 has to do with Windows Registry. Well i wasnt using a windows box to restore, i tried it on a 15 MBP, a 13 MBP, and a 27 imac. I have tried doing this over 30 times and get the same Error 6. Does anyone know of a solution to this? Switches to headphone mode and back DRIVING ME NUTS iPhone 3G

I iPhone 3G 16GB purchased in july of 2008. It has lately been giving me problems. Through out the day, it will switch to headphone mode and back to normal several times a day. The consequence of this is for example, if im on a call the callers voice on the other side sometimes suddenly goes to mute and the caller on the other side doesnt hear me any more. The reason is that it switched to headphone mode and i know this for fact because when i increase or decrease the volume on the left side it tells me on the screen. The only way to regain contact is to put the call on speaker phone. This is not just isolated to call situations, it happens in all possible situations like listening to music from the speakers, typing away on the virtual keypad, playing games etc...Like i said, this doesnt happen all the time but its also not rare and a simple reboot of the phone usual fixes the problem temporarily. I thought it might be some lint or dust blocking or interfering with the sensor. Went to the Apple Store and they were kind enough to take out the lint and spray all the dust out free of charge (since the phones been out of warranty for nearly a year and i didnt make an appointment) . At that moment i wasnt having any problem. A few hours later, it reoccured so i can safely say that wasnt the culprit. I havent restored my iPhone but can this possible be a hardware issue or simply software? If it ends up being a hardware problem can this be fixed relatively cheaply? I got a new 3GS the other day and put my bold 9700 to rest while I tested the "improved" 3GS on my 09 Honda Accord with navi/BT. Pairing worked 3'rd time and reconnects without problems. Unfortunately, phone call quality with Honda HFL zuks compared to the Bold. Noticeable delay causes talking over folks as you think they are done talking for the moment, try to respond, and then realize they are not finished (and of course, visa versa). Call quality is tinny with an echo. Bold beats the snot out of 3GS in this area. I was hoping 3GS would have evolved by this gen to a fully capable device and am dissapointed that it has not. I wish Apple would learn how to make a good phone first, and then build multimedia around that, rather then the actual phone quality being an afterthought. I did not buy the phone to play computer games. I have a computer for that.

Manage Files iPhone 3G

Hello,Is there an app that I can download/buy for my iPhone that will allow me to manage files from my iPhone. All apps I find are simply to download apps from a PC via WiFi. All I am looking for is an app that can show me all saved files on my phone, i.e. photos, videos, music, voice clips, saved files from apps/games etc.Is there such an app?Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated,Many thanks,Tom Windows 7

Network lost popup on OS 4.0 iPhone

Does someone know if the annoying Network Lost popup has been made optional in OS 4.0?I need to have a fixed provider (i cant choice automatic here, to avoid roaming costs) and i keep getting this message again and again and again, during games, browsing, everything. New Iphone has problem with syncing and restoring. PLEASE HELP. 3G

I just got a iphone 4 days ago, and its been having some issues. first I didnt have any music in it because I wasnt home, but I was playing games, when it crashed. I dismissed it and continued playing but this kept repeating. When I got home I plugged it into itunes, and tried to back up files from my ipod touch. It started to work but then it stopped and said the iphone was disconnected, and files from it cannot be read from or written on. I tried syncing it, same result. I even tried restoring it, again, I recieved the same result. It does not work properly and will not add or remove files, and I have not even had this for a week. Please help me resolve this problem. How you make vertical font iPhone

Hello, I was recently playing one of the popular games from Storm8 (iMobsters, World War, Kingdoms Live) and I noticed some people were able to use a special font. The word the was shown vertically; as in, the t was on top of the h, then the h on top of the e. This was not done through pressing return and skipping to the next line, but rather it seemed to be a whole character. copy stuff from itunes and iphoto to iphone 3g

Hi, I want to copy a game for I bought for the iphone on my g5 via itunes to my iphone, but when the iphone becomes available in itunes I only have the Music, Movies, TV shows and Ringtones folders available under my iphones name.How do I copy apps/games from g5 to iphone? I bought the game, its wasnt free. This is the first question.The second one is regarding pictures and Iphoto.When the iphone appears in iphoto, I only see its name on the left panel and nothing below it, nor can I open the phone via the little triangle because its not there!I can only sync/copy pictures Ive taken with the iphone to iphoto on my g5, but I cant do it the other way round. Accelerometer calibration iPhone 3G

Hi everyone! First of all, sorry about my english, it´s not my matter language, ill try to do my best. I have a question for you people.I have recently bought an iPhone 3G, and, in some games that uses the motion (the accelerometer) like R.Racing GTI, Think Blue, Labyrinth 3D, Ive noticed a slight uncalibration.After that I installed some apps of spirit level (like A Free Level, and BLevelFree) and they says that the longest axis have a 5.5 degrees unbalance/uncalibration to the left (tested on a flat surface) The other axes are a little bit unbalanced (about 2 or 3 degrees)Ive asked in my mobile phone provider and they said to me that he cant change my iPhone for a new one because its a problem of that external apps.They says that the official Apple test for the accelerometer is on Photos, Safari, etc. If they can switch 90 degrees the iPhone and the screen switch, then they consider that its not an accelerometer problem.Ive read other posts about the same issue, but I couldn find a concrete response.I want to know if really there is no problem with my accelerometer, because the 90 degrees switch works fine, but not in the games that uses the accelerometer. Its a bit uncomfortable to try to play that kind of games.Does the mobile cell provider should change my phone?Apple does not care if this uncalibrated accelerometer 5 degrees?Why there is no a settings button to calibrate the accelerometer?What should I do?Thank you very much for your time and your answers. iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.1.3

Yet another 3G battery charge issuequestion iPhone

All...Lately my iPhone 3G is draining its battery much quicker than it had previously. It will not last a full day. Even with no Safari, games, music, etc. Also, when I charge it, it gets hot, more than usual.Not sure, but I think this all started when I let the battery completely drain. I partially charged then the battery completely drained again. Ive reset shut the phone off then back on with no improvement. Ive had the phone for less than a year. Apple replaced my 1st 3G with this phone due to another issue.Im going to let the battery completely drain then will completely charge to see if that helps. Apple ID not really working. iPhone 3G

Heya, I have a problem with my Apple ID. When Im going to download free games from Appstore, they ask me to fill in all the information on Billing Information, in which they send me to that page, and I fill in all thats needed. When I finally click on Submit, a red text appears telling me to type my Apple ID and password, go to Billing Information, and fill in. Theyre basically telling me to do exactly what Im doing. So Im not getting any further. Does someone else have this problem aswell, or am I the first one? And can someone please tell me how to make it right? Windows XP Windows XP
