my iphone 4s volume isn't working

My iPhone 4S volume isn't working. No sound when playing music. No ring or text message sound. If I try to turn volume up for ringer on side, the box appears, but no bar to show volume up or down. If I do a test ring in settings it works though. Silent switch is in the correct position. I tried a hard reboot (ignored the red slider). It worked a minute ago but then stopped again. It seems like it might have the problem when I'm trying to play music. Thanks! 

my iPhone 5 has NO SOUND

My iphone was fine up until a few hours ago. Now the sound has stopped completely. It does not ring, alert me for texts, play music, or anything. I made sure that my phone is not on silent or vibrate, have restarted my phone several times, and have even reset the settings on my phone. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

My boyfriend upgraded to an iPhone 5 recently and decided to give me his old iPhone 4, but i'm on Vodafone and his iPhone is locked to Orange.  So he rang up Orange to request an unlock which cost £20 and the guy said it could take upto 28days (which seems a long time to unlock a phone) The guy at Orange said the reason for this is that the unlock has to be done by Apple (which makes sense) and so my iphone would go on a list and once it reaches the top of that list it will be done - (is this true?)  It's been 3 weeks and my boyfriend still hasn't recieved an email to say the unlock has been successful. I'm starting to get impatient as I didn't think it would actually take the full 4 weeks to process(i know it hasn't been 28 days yet...) - but it's looking like it will take that long at this rate... if it gets unlocked at all! I would also like to know if my iPhone 4 has been jailbroken in the past - will this prevent the phone being unlocked by apple?  Any help or advice would be great

I want to start over iPhone

So I got my iPhone 5 around Christmas time, and I feel as though I need to start fresh. I want everything to be as good as new. I am absolutely getting frusturated with iCloud right about now. I already put all my pictures on my computer (not connected to iCloud), and my contacts are in a vCard folder on my desktop. I don't have music on my iPhone, and my apps I'd like to keep. How do I back up my iPhone to ONLY my computer... When I tried deleting my iCloud account, it deleted everything (including the contacts that I backed up to ONLY my computer). Long story short... I hate iCloudI want my phone good as newI want my appsI want my contactsI want my text messages if possible.I don't mind resigning into all my email accounts and app accounts. When I do have my iPhone good as new as when I got it, then I will later on ask a question on how iCloud specifically works... with such a tight schedule like mine, it is hard to go to the genius bar and ask all of these questions... Receiving US number s imessages to international number iPhone

Hi all,  Haven't been able to find anything on this. I have an iPhone 4s which I had been using to iMessage over wifi with my friends while I'm in China (took out my Verizon sim card). I got an international (China Mobile) SIM card today after unlocking w/ verizon, etc. But now my old number is not "registered" with iMessage (I checked this in messages on my macbook) and changing my number in my phone isn't helping.  Is there a way that I can readd my US number so that when people iMessage my US phone number it goes to my iPhone which is now a different, international number?  My Apple ID still has my old number registered in it, but the Messages settings in my phone show the new international number without a means to add my old number. I'd rather use my US number over my Chinese phone number if theres a way that I can set it back to that number.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

iPhone 4 loses 3G capability. Normal

Over the last 4 months or so, my iPhone4's download rate has progressivly slowed. WiFi is still working fine, but cellular data was noticably lagging with missed texts, slow applications, and generally slow browsing. Since then I have switched carriers twice thinking it was a problem with cellular service provider, but to no avail. This last week I have had no ability to connect to my service provider's data network, evident because that little '3G' icon at the top no longer appears in any part of the city I visit. I removed the protective case around the iPhone thinking it could be an antennae issue, but no, still not working. Paranoid, I even checked to see that cellular 3G is turned on in the device settings; it is, and I felt stupid for even doubting that it wasnt.  Is it normal for a cellular phone's hardware to degrade? Could there be an enviornmental factor i'm not seeing?

Hello, and thank you for reading. I have an iPhone 4s, and my primary email account is Gmail. I can receive emails, but I can't send them. When I try to click on the little pen icon to write an email, the app crashes/quits and I'm sent back to the homescreen. I saw that most people who can't send email receive an error message, but I've never received an error message, the app just stops. I checked in the settings, and every thing seems to be in order (I'm not extremely tech savvy, so I could be wrong). I started to experience this problem maybe a week ago. Also, my Messages app can be a little sketchy sometimes too. When I'm connected to Wifi and trying to send an iMessage, the message won't send and there will be a little red exclamation point next to the message. My Messages app works sometimes, but do you all think that the problems are linked somehow? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I'm out of the office a lot, and it's an inconvinecne that I can't send emails while I'm on the road. Hello, this is my first time on a forum like this so I don't really know what to expect but basically the reason why I am here today is because of the fact that my iPhone's battery is excuse my french, dog s***. I'm 16 years old almost 17 and I haven't had any problems with my other iPhone's before (iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S) I charge it at 100% in the morning, so I leave it all night from 1% the previous night and then I get up and without even using it, it's at 95% already. Now the thing you're going to say is have you tried:  Turning off 3G/LTE - YESTurning off Wi-Fi - YESBluetooth - YESLocation Service's - YESPush email - YESMessing with the brightness - YESRe-setting the phone several times (LOL) - YES  I honestly don't see why it is draining this much, I have like 10 apps and all of them are ones that don't send much data, nor recieve much. You know the usual Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc etc.  If someone could possibly help me I will be the happiest man alive!!! Thanks-Ed

Wireless Emergency Alerts and Silent Mode iPhone

Does anyone know if the Wireless Emergency Alerts/Government Alerts will sound while your phone is in silent mode? Seems as though this feature (WEA) is now available on AT&T iPhones, and I normally keep my phone on silent at night. I'm OK with the alert sounding while in silent mode if it's a true emergency (presidential alert or emergency situation) but I'd rather not get Amber alerts unless it's during daytime hours.  I know I can completely opt-out of the Amber Alerts and Emergency Alerts, but I'm curious if the phone will alert regardless of silent mode settings. I'd rather not opt-out of Amber alerts, but if that's the only way to keep from being woken by them, then I'll probably pass on those. Thanks!

Iphone 4S Wifi slider not working

Hello everyone, I've recently got my WIFI slider greyed out. I was on a lower version than 6.1.3 before I got this issue, now after trying several resets and network resets and other stuff such as using the hair-dryer trick and freezer trick it didn't work. Now as I've seen in a tutorial on Apple it says you must go to settings --> About --> Resets and then reset the network settings, but after doing that my Wifi-Adress stays with some numbers instead of N/A which other people gets, I still have a WIFI-Adress in it no matter if I reset my whole Iphone or not. Airpot has always been off, when I'm in the menu of setting Iphone up, it most likely skips the Find wifi part where you connects to your WIFI. The Iphone it self has not even a scratch, I've not really dropped it before or anything, I've had it for some time now but not really got it damaged. So people, any ideas? It's running on IOS 6 6.1.3 now.

Can t see Cellular Data Network menu iPhone

Hello, I recently bought a brand new unlocked iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.4 10B350) in person at a Mac store.  I have set up the phone & data service with AirVoice Wireless (an MVNO that uses the AT&T network).  AV does not guarantee that MMS will work for iPhones on their service.  That is fine -- I knew that going into this.  However, when I tried to set up MMS anyway following AV's instructions, I couldn't do it because I cannot see the "Cellular Data Network" menu option under settings-->General-->Cellular.  The person at AV I spoke with said that I couldn't see the CDN option because my phone wasn't unlocked, which is difficult to believe seeing as I specifically bought an unlocked phone.  So, why can't I see the CDN option if my phone is unlocked?  And how can I gain access to it? Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Sincerely,Mike (an iPhone newbie)

iPhone 4 vibration wifi and calling will not function correctly

I have had my iPhone 4 for 6 months now, and I have dropped it a couple of times, but a few days after I dropped it nothing happened. My first problem started in May when I noticed that my phone could not reach the wifi at home or other places quickly as it normally could and when I would go into other rooms I would lose the connection quickly.This made me have to use my 3g more often and I only have a limit of 300MB, I normally do not use it, because of the wifi i have around,but it is getting harder. 2-3 days ago I called the DATA (*3282#) in my phone and got 64.89 out of 300MB. I later used my 3G for awhile, so a day later i called DATA and the same number (64.89 out of 300MB) comes on again. I knew this was a mistake so I called it again and the same number shows up. I KNOW FOR SURE I USED MY 3G, so I dont know why this keeps popping up. Everything else channged (texting and calling) On top of that my vibration started to not work in early June and it's difficult for me to know when someone has texted or called. I have tried going into settings and choosing a different type of vibration, but it does not vibrate overall and yes it is turned on. My version right now is 6.1. Will upgrading help? Everything else works fine, but is there a way I can fix this or do I have to go the Apple Store? I'm also in AT&T.

vodafone issues iPhone 4S

Hi all,  i will list my problems and see what you all think,,,,, i have a iphone 4s on vodafone running 6.1.3 firmware, for the first 11/12mths i would say this phone was faultless ( taking around 200 calls a day), recently the phone refuses to make calls and send txt messages, it wont even connect to the internet using 3g, it has to have wirelesss connectivity for the browsers to work. i took it to the local vodafone shop and they insisted it was the sim card at fault, even though i did try it in my other phone (nokia E50-2), so i took the replacement sim anyway. checks already done:- i have taken my vodafone contract sim from the iphone and placed it in the nokia, it works fine sending and recieving both calls and txti have taken my vodafone PAYG sim out of the nokia and placed it in the iphone, it refused to work but worked fine in the nokiai have reset the network settings, i have deleted all apps from the iphone and done a full restore, but it still refuses to workit shows full signal strength all the time where i live, as does the nokia, if i try to call it from the nokia it tells me the phone is not available even though they are sat side by side with full signal, if i try to call the nokia it comes back called failed.i have tried to send a txt message to my own phone number only for it to come back failed, yet in the nokia it sends no problem.vodafone refuse to admit it is a problem with there network and it is an iphone issue, the phone is now 13mths old and out of warranty (typical), i requested the iphone be unlocked from vodafone to check other networks, this has now been done so i put a spare O2 sim in the iphone and it sends and recieves both calls and text with no issues, yet vodafone still say it is not a network problem!!!!!!! is anyone else having similar problems to mine??? or is it something wrong with the phone???? i personnaly think when the phone was updated to the 6.1.3 firmware it has a problem with vodafone, plese tell me what you think, i am going crazy with this phone, cant believe its not kissed the wall or other hard surface yet.

On May 1, 2013 I received from my husband as a gift, an iPhone 5 16GB White (Model A1429) after his return from a trip to the African continent. I used the Iphone 5 for only 15 days, while the rear camera crashed. In an attempt to solve, restored the software and not solved. Then took the Iphone 5 Apple technical assistance in Recife / PE, called iTown where it was found that it was a hardware problem and Iphone 5 should be replaced. However when checking the model of Iphone 5 assistant coach said the serial number on my Iphone 5 (F1HK3LNGDTWF) was not authorized by Apple for replacement and that I should contact the Apple 0800. I made contact and technical support agent (# 451 886 701), Samir, informed me that the model of my iPhone 5 (A1429) is not warranted in Brazil and should submit to Apple in the country where it was purchased. Tell it had received a gift from my husband and had been acquired in a electronics store in Johannesburg international airport, not having expected to return to the country in the coming years. Requested that the equipment be sent through Apple Brazil, to the place where it was possible to repair or replace the Apple Iphone 5 Brazil defective by a new, but Samir informed me that he could not do anything for me and that very sorry. Well, I understand that Apple is a company present in several countries and that your warranty is worldwide. Still hopeful, I sent an email to Apple Feedback reporting the incident, but so far have not received any feedback. I'm very disappointed with Apple for this embarrassment and injury. The Iphone 5 cost USD 1,100.00 and in less than 15 days the camera stopped working.I await a return to Apple with the solution for the inconvenience caused.Sincerely,

(specify "Start" & "Stop" time - under "Options" – to any 30-seconds duration and click OK)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file...(when done iTunes will create a Chime)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------4) to locate the created .m4a file easily, Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Show in Finder" from the pop-up list...(iTunes will automatically point the folder location of the original .mp3 & the newly created .m4a files... keep this window open for later...)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------5) change the .m4a file to .m4r as suggested... (rename to whatever you like but you must change the extension to .m4r)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------6) At this point, the m4r(original) file isn't a "Ringtone" file yet... which we'll need to change now...) (check under "Get Info", this .m4r(new) File's "Kind" should be "Ringtone")//to get to that "TONES" Folder : First Locate your iTunes default Music Folder in your Mac --> usually it's in your Default "MUSIC" folder --> Navigate to "iTunes Media"  --> Navigate to "Tones". !! Keep this window open to make the transfer manually !!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------9) Once your duplicate is placed inside the "Tones" folder, double-click on that duplicate .m4r(true) file and let iTunes play, it should automatically place that ringtone file into the "Ringtone" sidebar List in the iTunes program... (check program to see) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------Somehow u needed both duplicates : 1 – inside the default initial .mp3 folder & 1 – inside the Tones Folder which we Duplicate+Drag into... and both must be "Ringtone" – Kind... for this to work.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------10) There you go. Now you can Sync / Delete / Add the whole Ringtone contents to your iPhone as you wish. //Don't forget to set SYNC ON under the iphone  "Tones" tab in your iTunes - iPhone screen... and click big SYNC button at the bottom of iTunes program & wait for the magic.( Finally you can check inside your iPhone "Sounds" settings and hopefully if all steps done correctly, the bloodycomplicatedringtone selection will be there. Headset Video Volume Problem iPhone 4S

Phone operates like the ear buds are plugged in when it isn't.  Texts & email notifications vibrate instead of sound notifications.  Video volume slider only appears when the headset is actually plugged in.  How do we fix this?

My notification center won t show anything iPhone

My Notification Center isn't showing anything. When my phone is locked, it doesn't show when I get a text. Only when I open my phone do I see that I have multiple texts, but it never vibrated for them. I went to my settings, and went under Notification Center, and it just shows the little "loading" symbol, but it won't open up the settings. When I swipe down my Notification Center, it only says "No New Notifications". I can't figure out why it's doing this. Could it be because I don't have good signal or something? I can't turn my phone off and back on because for some reason my button won't work. Someone please help!

transfer address book to iPhone iPhone 4S

I have been having trouble with my iPhone - sudden decrease in battery life, apps not working, Wifi not working, iCloud not working (don't ask me why, but when I go to settings>iCloud>Storage and back up, the toggle is off and greyed out, giving me no option to turn it on). I was advised to back the iPhone up on my mac, reset the iPhone to factory settings and then restore it from the Mac.  So, all my apps have come over, but none of my contacts, SMS's, nothing. I can probably live without the SMS's but it will take me a long time to re-enter all my contacts.  However, they are all still in the Mac.  But I can't work out how to get the Mac to send the addresses back to the iPhone.   As previously stated, the iCloud doesn't work, so I can't use that.  I looked through previous entries and the advice was: Open iTunes. Connect the iPhone. Select it under the Devices heading in the iTunes sidebar. Click on the Info tab in the main window. Check the Contacts box then sync. However, when I do this it say in contacts "your contacts are being synched with your iPhone over the air, over-the-air sync settings can be changed on the iPhone" But I don't want them synched over the air, because over the air (I assume this is iCloud) isn't working.  How do I set it (either iTunes or the iPhone) so that it synches, via USB cable, with the contacts on my Mac? I am totally, utterly confused and a bit cross as I am now worse off then before I reset the phone and was told that it would just back up from the computer.  And even more annoyed when I know the data I want is all still there (on the Mac in address book), I just can't drag it across.

iphone 5 doesnt accept ID password facetime and imessage not working

Im not sure if its to do with the new update 6.1.4 but my imessage suddenly stopped working. I checked my settings and saw that my email addresses associated with it were deleted. I would do hard resets but it wouldnt solve the problem. Then imessage was only partially working, sending imessages to certain individuals and text messages to the others. When i would try to add my email it would say that my password or ID is incorrect. I was thinking, no this could not be. I signed in and out of Itunes with no problem. I even signed on appleid.com and it worked. I tried it on my ipad which worked. I was scratching my brains. so I had an idea, I proceeded to reset network settings......BIG MISTAKE!!! Now, along with my imessage and facetime problems, I cannot connect to my wifi at home. when I enter the password it says it is incorrect. I have also tried entering the wifi manually but to no avail. I connected my iphone to itunes but it wont back up my data saying an error occured but it doesnt specify the error. Iv also noticed that if i press and hold an app, and it starts shaking, the crosses next to the apps that I hav purchased whether it is free or not does not show the 'x' next to them so I cant manually delete an app. What is going on? Is so frustrating because now I have to rely on my data and its depleting fast. Iv booked an appointment with the Genius bar for next week but I am hoping I can sort this out before hand. My first iphone and I was enjoying it up to now, not happy at all!

Wifi Greyed on 4S no Panorama option on camera

I purchased a 4s for the Mrs in February 13 and ever since she has had it the wifi option is greyed and no option of the Panorama in camera options although the 'grid' and 'hdr' options are there. I have restored the phone from new, reset all settings, hard reset etc but nothing helps.  Does anyone have a definitive resolution to this frustrating problem or is it a matter for Apple to replace the handset? On 6.1.3 at the moment

Calendar will not sync with iPhone 5

Using OSX 10.8.4 on a Mac mini late 2012 model, trying to sync Calender on mac to calender on my iphone 5 running ios 6.1.4 No matter how many youtube videos I watch or how many threads I read, my iphone calender will not sync with the calender on my mac. Any ideas?I have both my mac and iphone setup in icloud settings just as described in every video. Everything syncs just fine, from notes, contacts, reminders, photostream, it all works as expected except for calander. Please Help! Thanks,-Dean

I just installed iOS7 and everything is working sweet except for iMessage, every time I go to turn the switch on, it automatically turns off and then when it does turn on, the settings App crashes. What is the fix and how far off is it?

Iphone headphones wont work damaged hardware iPhone 5

I don't really know if this is the correct place to post this but well..I've been using the standard Iphone 5 headphones for a while now until recently they stopped working as they should, won't play/pause using the button thingy on them. So I tested them on my friends Iphone 4 and they worked as they should. So just wondering if I've damaged the hardware in the phone somehow or changed any settings by mistake
