Full correct steps should be like this : 1) Select a favourite song in iTunes program to be made into Ringtone...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------2) "Get Info" on that song name and make any 0:30 seconds portion of that song.... (specify "Start" & "Stop" time - under "Options" – to any 30-seconds duration and click OK)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------3) Right-click or Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Create AAC Version" to create an .m4a file...(when done iTunes will create a Chime)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------4) to locate the created .m4a file easily, Ctrl-Click again on same song name and select "Show in Finder" from the pop-up list...(iTunes will automatically point the folder location of the original .mp3 & the newly created .m4a files... keep this window open for later...)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------5) change the .m4a file to .m4r as suggested... (rename to whatever you like but you must change the extension to .m4r)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------6) At this point, the m4r(original) file isn't a "Ringtone" file yet... which we'll need to change now...) (check under "Get Info" > "Kind" :  it's still "Apple MPEG-4 Audio")...1st by dragging that newly changed .m4r(ori) file to somewhere out of that same default folder it was created by iTunes... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------{ this is where most confusions occur, take note here, it gets rather complicated }-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------7) Once it's outside of that folder, Double Click the m4r(ori) file and iTunes will play...(u can stop it immediately...) this is just to let iTunes automatically convert that m4r(ori) file into a new duplicate & places it inside the initial default folder where the original .mp3 file is kept... we kept the window open previously, remember? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------8) locate that duplicate .m4r(new & true) file, in that same .mp3 folder and now DUPLICATE-Drag (press Option while dragging to get the "+" sign) it to the "TONES" folder in your default apple folder structure. (check under "Get Info", this .m4r(new) File's "Kind" should be "Ringtone")//to get to that "TONES" Folder : First locate your iTunes default Music Folder in your Mac --> usually it's in your Default "MUSIC" folder --> Navigate to "iTunes Media"  --> Navigate to "Tones". !! Keep this window open to make the transfer manually !!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------9) Once your duplicate is placed inside the "Tones" folder, double-click on that duplicate .m4r(true) file and let iTunes play, it should automatically place that ringtone file into the "Ringtone" sidebar List in the iTunes program... (check program to see) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------Somehow u needed both duplicates : 1 – inside the default initial .mp3 folder & 1 – inside the Tones Folder which we Duplicate+Drag into... and both must be "Ringtone" – Kind... for this to work.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------10) There you go. Now you can Sync / Delete / Add the whole Ringtone contents to your iphone as you wish. //Don't forget to set SYNC ON under the iphone  "Tones" tab in your iTunes - iphone screen... and click big SYNC button at the bottom of iTunes program & wait for the magic.( Finally you can check inside your iphone "Sounds" settings and hopefully if all steps done correctly, the bloodycomplicatedringtone selection will be there. Enjoy!

Hi I bought iphone 5 ,  3 weeks ago. Went to a party and by the time i come back to my car , i realized i lost my phone,i asked every one and searched every where,tried to locate through "Find my Phone" but no use. But same night one of the persons participated in the party flew to Mexico, I doubt he might have picked it from my table or pocket while i was not attentive and I also knew that he is of that "kind of person" but couldn`t dare to ask "his" people here as it may bounce back to me if "he" is not the actual thief. My question is : if some one steel it switched it off and took it to some other country , can it be traced by any chance and by any means ?  I have very important and personal/delicate information in it. Can some one please help me ?Thanks

The devices in question are an iphone 5 and a 3rd generation iPad, both run the latest iOS bits available and I am signed in with my Apple Id on both devices.  The behavior I'd like to experience is:the settings (Stations and Podcasts within Stations and particular Podcast settings) set on one device just show up on the other device.both devices show the exact same played, partly-played and unplayed podcasts in their stations. Isn't this the way things should "just work" in the Apple world?  The reason for asking is that my two devices do not seem to talk to each other and cannot locate a way to get them to synchronize. Thank you,  eugen

Here's the story: Some dude loses his phone in front of my house during snow storm.I try to help him find it, but to no avail. We both fear the plow got it.Three months later, snow pile in front of my house thaws.I find phone in the mucky muck.I remove the cover, let it dry, wipe it off, and on a whim - plug it in.Holy crap, it works!BUT, The phone is password protected.The guy was visiting friends from out of state. He was a stranger.We tried calling his phone to locate it when first lost, but my phone log doesn't go back that far. I'd love to be able to return it, even though I'm sure it's been replaced. How would I go about finding the owner? Also, HOLY CRAP, IT WORKS! Three months in a snowy, wet mud pile.

Gmail App for iphone 3GS? Mom has an iphone 3GS, and was having trouble with her Gmail on her phone.  She went to the Apple Store, they deleted the Gmail App, and then re-downloaded the New Gmail App.  Then got and Error Messgae; The Error Message was that she would need iOS 5, which is not available (I think) for the iphone 3GS. (1) So, is there a way to get the Gmail App associated with the iphone 3GS?  (2) And where can we locate it? Thanks for your help. Hello. I'm kept getting wrong locations of my iphone whenever I tried to locate it with Find My iphone app. Sometimes the reading is off from 4to 10 blocks away from the actual iphone's location. Sometimes, my phoneis displayed in wrong sections of the city. Is it caused by GPSsignal problems or is there any other factor that may prevent me fromknowing the exact location?

I tried restoring the information from my 4 to my 4s phone but my software wasn't up-to-date so itunes would only allow me to set up my phone as a new phone at first. Nevertheless, most of the songs, both purchased and owned that happen to be on my 4, I can't get them onto my 4s because Itunes can't locate them. I've tried backing up my 4 using icloud, but when I set my 4s up, I chose back up using itunes and not icloud, Itunes also asks me for another backup password when I go to do this...and even so I don't think icloud backs up music anyway.  I've since turned on the backup in advanced settings in itunes so all future music will back up to my PC. However I still have about 100 songs in total and ringtones that have been completely lost. I'm not happy as I've already bought this music.

I recently bought an iphone 4 from a polish guy and he told me he had bought it for his mum in Poland but because it was too complicated for her to use so decided to sell.I checked it out and it was working normal except I couldn't make any calls in the UK obviously as it was locked to a Polish carrier. On phone details I noticed it said Telenor, but after research I understand there is no Telenor in Poland, rather Orange, T.Mobile are the main carriers.Telenor cover Norway, Sweden and Pakistan.I then decided to restore(stupidly) using a T.Mobile SIM card but unfortunately on the 3rd screen of set up it said SIM card inserted not supported. I then bought a factory restore off eBay where I supplied the phone's IMEI number and then was told this would permanently unlock the phone to any network in the world. however, this hasn't worked even by attempting to restore via iTunes.I am beginning to think I need a remote unlock and restore from apple or find out the original sim that it was locked on to as I can no longer locate the chap I bought the phone from. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.ta

How I delete old Google Maps applicaiton iphone 3G

I think I have a problem that many wish they had prior to google releasing an updated Maps application.  I updated to iOS6 and got the new Apple Maps app, but still retained the Google Maps app as well.  This is one of the kind of apps that can't be deleted, like SMS, Phone, etc. I can move it around, and generally used to just stuff it away on the last page, but now I want to make an effort to remove it. Looking at the file system, at the .ipa files, the built in .ipa's are not included.  Anyone know where those are stored, so perhaps I could remove that, to see if it would remove it from my phone on next sync? I did a backup and restore the other day, still no change.  I did a backup, completely erased my phone to factory, then did a restore, which also didn't work.  And finally, though I really didn't want to, I went ahead and erased my phone with the intention of rebuilding it from scratch, though the darn Maps app was still there, so  just backed up a step and did a restore to my last backup point to save the hassle of setting up my phone from ground zero. I have added two screen shots, one wiht my mouse selecting a normal app so you can see I get the "X" to delete icon on the app, and the other with the maps application selected so that you can see I DO NOT get the "X". I filtered the left list to just the google ones, but have tried various other combinations such as "maps" to locate it, it is not in the list, just as "phone", "sms", and "mail" are not in the list. Any help would be appreciated   Message was edited by: this-is-my-alias because I forgot to add the image attachments.

why can't Siri locate contact addresses for map directions iphone 4S

Having an issue with iphone 4s using Siri for locating addresses saved within contacts for map directions. The problem is only evident on about half of the contacts so far..  the message i get is 'I couldn't find an address for .." even though the contact I asked for clearly has their address saved.  I've doubled checked I've used the right address fields and seem fine. I'm unable to distinguine the problem between the contacts where Siri works as it should and locate the address, and the ones it can't - including my home address.   Very frustating when I want directions in the car for driving and using hands free. Any ideas guys?!

I have had the same problem with my iphone 3GS and my 2nd gen iPod touch. I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 (32-bit) and Windows Vista. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and its components a number of times. I followed every single step in the Apple support forum for this topic- restarting/repairing the driver, making sure Apple Mobile Device Support is set to automatic, try to manually locate the driver and it says "the best software for your device is already installed". So frustrated as I paid $100 for Apple Care Plus and when contacting apple I was essentially told there was not a lot they could do since I live no where near an Apple store. I believe the problem is with the Apple Mobile Device driver but for some reason it won't update. Help! (Oh, and I've tried on other computers, same problem)

iphone 5 connects to wifi for 10 seconds and then nothing

I just upgraded from an iphone 4 to the iphone 5.  I had no connectivity issues on my home network, but now that I'm on the 5, I can locate the home network, connect to the network and browse for about 10 seconds and then I have no connection.  The network icon still shows that I'm connected, but I can't browse in Safari and everything from Facebook to Words with Friends just gives me the working circle. Things I've tried: 1)     Forgetting the network - Forgot the network and reconnected, same problem, 10 seconds and then nothing2)     Restarting the wireless modem - Same, that got me 10 seconds3)     Turning off and on the iphone - Again, 10 seconds We have an iphone 4 here at home and that is currently working perfectly, and the iphone 4 that the problematic phone replaced was working perfectly last night.  I checked the network settings on both, and the only difference is the IP address on the iphone 5, everything else looks exactly the same.   Any ideas?

iphone 4s black screen

about half an hour ago my iphone4s screen turned black, I tried resetting it multiple times by holding down the home and lock buttons but nothing happened. Then after several attempts I was finally able to get it to restore using itunes on my pc, however the screen still appears black. Also phone is warm It will vibrate randomly every few seconds while plugged into the pc, but it doesn't for calls or texts. Also strange is I have my phone linked to icloud and it was able to locate it, I pressed send message for sound to see if that would show anything and it said it was sent but nothing ever happened on the phone. I made a genius bar appointment for later but I was hoping to resolve it before then.
